between gemma chan, nina dobrev, teresa palmer who would be most wanted? if none of these, what would some most wanted be? also which jobs would like to be seen?
Hi darling! Out of the three, it seems that the consensus is that we would love to have Gemma Chan!
As for jobs that we could see her fitting, I would say weapons dealer in Nightshade, an appraiser or forger within Kurtlar, event coordinator or a media manipulator for The Network. For outside of the organizations, I could see her perhaps working in the District Attorney's office. Or even as the district attorney! Maybe a business owner, we have so very many options still available.

Includes dailies pack for a scene from the film "The Ever After" starring Oscar-winner Melissa Leo (The Fighter,) Teresa Palmer (Hacksaw Ridge.) Outline I demo the most critical editing technique I use when I cut feature films and documentaries. Pro-editor don't rely on their talent alone. They all have a system for shaping the best story the film inherently has to offer within the footage. It took me over a decade to perfect my system and you can see how it works in this 30-minute mini-course. I also included dailies for a scene from an actual feature film so you can apply it yourself. Don't just watch and forget, but take action and engrain the lesson. Set yourself up for making any edit the best it wants to be. What You'll Learn In Secret Editing Hacks - XL? 70% of great editing comes from applying this single editing technique. I show it to you applied on the film "The Ever After" (Los Angeles Intl. Film Festival premiere,) starring Oscar-winner Melissa Leo (The Fighter,) Teresa Palmer (Hacksaw Ridge,) and Mark Webber (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.) I give you the footage to emulate the process. AMC Networks is giving a major platform to A Discovery of Witches following its breakout success on streaming services Sundance Now and Shudder. The first season of the series, starring Matthew Goode and Teresa Palmer, is getting a linear run in a simulcast on AMC and BBC America starting April 7 at 9 PM, following BBC America and AMC’s previously announced simulcast of Killing Eve at 8 PM.
Sky’s A Discovery of Witches last summer was picked up by AMC Networks’ OTT platforms Sundance Now and Shudder with a planned followup linear run on SundanceTV. In light of its digital success and the series’ compatibility with BBC America’s Killing Eve, a decision was recently made for the linear airing to be on the higher-profile BBC America as a companion to Killing Eve. Since AMC Networks already had announced that Season 2 of Killing Eve would simulcast on AMC, A Discovery of Witches also will air on both networks for additional exposure.
A Discovery of Witches already has been renewed for Seasons 2 and 3 by Sky, Sundance Now and Shudder. Production on the second season is slated to begin later this year.
The debut of A Discovery of Witches smashed Sundance Now records for total video plays, with 30x increase in the streams of any previous premiere during its first week – a record number of minutes streamed – and accounted for more than half of all streaming activity on the platform.  In anticipation of the series’ premiere, total subscribers to Sundance Now alone increased by nearly 30% since the start of January.  In addition, the week ending January 20 saw the largest number of new subscriptions, almost more than double the number added in any previous week. The series was also a monster hit in its Shudder debut, accounting for more minutes streamed than any on-demand film or series premiere in the service’s history.
“Thanks to the critical acclaim and overwhelmingly positive audience response to A Discovery of Witches, the series has found a new legion of fans. We are thrilled to bring it to a wider audience and pair it with Killing Eve on both AMC and BBC America,” said Sarah Barnett, President of AMC Entertainment Networks. “This is a great example of our cross-network strategy; to expose our series to new audiences across our ecosystem of networks and streaming services.”
Produced by Bad Wolf and adapted from Deborah Harkness’s  bestselling book of the same name, which returns tomorrow to the New York Times Book Reviews’ Combined Print & E-Book Best Seller list for the first time since August 2014, ADiscovery of Witches is a modern-day love story, set in a world where witches, vampires and daemons secretly live and work alongside humans, hidden in plain sight.  The Sky original production stars Emmy®-nominated Matthew Goode (The Crown) and Teresa Palmer (Hacksaw Ridge) along with Alex Kingston (Doctor Who), Valarie Pettiford (Being Mary Jane) and Owen Teale (Game of Thrones).
Filmed in the UK at Wolf Studios Wales and on location in Oxford and Venice, A Discovery of Witches was adapted for screen by writer Kate Brooke, who also serves as executive producer. Co-founders of Bad Wolf, Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner and Lachlan MacKinnon are executive producers along with author Deborah Harkness. Juan Carlos Medina, Alice Troughton (Doctor Who) and Sarah Walker direct.

We talked to Deborah Harkness and the cast and creators of the upcoming A Discovery of Witches TV adaptation! We’ve got new details about the series, including what fans can expect and where we’ll be able to watch in the USA.
Anyone who has talked to me over the last month knows that A Discovery of Witches was at the tip-top of my San Diego Comic-Con mustsee/mustdo list! As soon as I found out that the series would have a panel at SDCC, I knew I had to find my way to that panel and pressroom. Mostly, I was anticipating news about a U.S. home for the series… information that we did get! A Discovery of Witches will stream on Sundance Now, AMC Networks’ direct-to-consumer SVOD service curated with high quality dramas, comedies and crime thrillers, and Shudder, the leading premium streaming service for thriller, suspense and horror.
A Discovery of Witches will have eight episodes in the first season, and when it makes its debut in the U.S. and Canada (on a date to be confirmed later), all episodes available simultaneously on both Sundance Now and Shudder.
While our UK friends will get to enjoy the series starting Friday, September 14 on Sky One, for now, us U.S. fans will be rewatching the fabulous teaser trailer.
To help tide us over, I also suggest checking out the interviews we did with Deborah Harkness and the A Discovery of Witches cast at SDCC! Teresa Palmer (Diana Bishop), Alex Kingston (Sarah Bishop), Valarie Pettiford (Emily Mather), Owen Teale (Peter Knox), and Lachlan MacKinnon (EP) were on-hand to tell us more about adapting this series to TV and what fans can expect.
According to Deb Harkness, she was only interested in having A Discovery of Witches adapted as long as it was possible to maintain the integrity of the story. It was a difficult process to find the right collaborators for the project. Similarly, the actual work of adaptation was fun, but ambitious, especially in terms of blowing up the world and expanding beyond Diana Bishop’s POV and experiences.
Deb also shares her thoughts on casting the series–how the casting of Teresa Palmer as Diana was perfect, in terms of her physical appearance and spirit. In fact, Deb thinks that in the series casting as a whole, all of the actors have been on point, and this has translated to their authentic portrayal of the characters. Owen Teale agrees, and discusses the ways in which he’s taken on the role of Peter Knox and advocated for his character.
As a viewer, I especially appreciate Deb’s and Owen’s discussion of wanting to have a story that appeals to women in their 30s and addressing women at various stages of life. This also couples with the LGBTQ representation embedded in the series and the broader ways A Discovery of Witches encourages inclusion and empathy in entertainment and the real world.
In our interview with Teresa Palmer she tells us that she wasn’t familiar with the book series when it came out. Rather it was the script that really caught her attention and Teresa instantly felt connected to Diana Bishop. (And we know that Deb feels the exact same about Teresa!) Tez shares how she loves Diana’s passion and vulnerability and the journey Diana takes to come to terms with who she is as a witch. I ask Teresa a little more about the tension within Diana, between the academic and the supernatural being, and she discusses how the magic literally bubbles out of Diana, as she wrestles with suppress that side of herself.
Lachlan jumps in before we can get too spoiler-y, but tells us about the technical elements of filming magic scenes, especially as Diana’s magic grows over the series. Teresa also discusses the chemistry test with Matthew Goode and how organic their interactions felt from day one. At about 8:00, Teresa tells a story about how she and Matthew would goof around on set, to the point that a serious scene had to be transitioned to a comedic one. But ultimately, the series is a love story with a strong element of thriller, based as much as possible in the real world.
Both Teresa and Lachlan talk about adapting a series with such a dedicated fanbase. Teresa says this helps her want to do her best with the series and how they all appreciate the love of the fans: “I also have found it just thrilling to have this kind of energy behind the series.”
Finally, we chatted with Alex Kingston and Valarie Pettiford, who play Sarah Bishop and Emily Mather, Diana’s aunts who raise her after her parents’ deaths. Valarie and Alex speak about the ways in which their romantic relationship onscreen normalize LGBTQ relationships, especially in this world where being Queer isn’t what sets them apart. Rather, it’s one’s distinction as a witch, vampire, or daemon that they have to hide, not their love. Alex shares an interesting story about a photo at the Bishop house of Sarah and Emily wearing pussy-hats at their local Women’s March. Whereas one producer was concerned about being too political, Alex, Valarie, and Deb perceived it as being realistic. Sarah and Emily would have been at that march! Piggy-backing off of that, Alex and Valarie discuss how the key creative decision-makers on the series are women.
I follow with a question about the theme of family in the series and both Alex and Valarie talk about the tension between Sarah and Diana, motivated by deep care and concern for her niece. This also expands to a discussion of recognizing one’s ancestry and they ways in which the Bishop and Mather families have been connected for centuries.
Alex and Valarie also talk about seeing the first four episodes of the series and how impressed they are with they way the episodes have been shot, which helps to ground the story in a realism reminiscent of our world.
What do you think? Which scenes are you hoping will make it from the book to screen? Check out 20+ images from the panel below, and make sure to stay tuned to WSN for your A Discovery of Witches updates!

Filmed in the UK at Wolf Studios Wales and on location in Oxford, “A Discovery of Witches” is a contemporary love story that begins against the backdrop of Oxford academic life, in a world where small numbers of witches, vampires and daemons live and work, unseen amongst humans, hiding in plain sight. Teresa Palmer is the brilliant historian Diana Bishop, a reluctant witch denying her heritage. The discovery of a bewitched manuscript in Oxford’s Bodleian Library throws her into the heart of a dangerous mystery – and into the path of the enigmatic vampire and geneticist, Matthew Clairmont (Matthew Goode), who hides a dark family secret. As Diana and Matthew embark on a journey to understand the secrets of the ancient manuscript, their relationship develops, and events threaten to unravel the fragile peace that has long existed between witches, vampires, daemons and humans. Alex Kingston plays Sarah Bishop – Diana’s aunt, Valarie Pettiford plays her partner Emily Mather, and Owen Teale plays Peter Knox, a member of the Congregation. “A Discovery of Witches” was adapted for screen by writer Kate Brooke (“Mr. Selfridge”). Co-founder of Bad Wolf, Jane Tranter is the executive producer and Juan Carlos Medina (“Painless”) directs.

HACKSAW RIDGE
 A terrific achievement – spectacular.
How can you make a war film and avoid much trodden clichés? This is the task that Mel Gibson sets himself in Hacksaw Ridge. This is a spectacular film and a lot of hard work has gone into it but so have the clichés. Not really Gibson’s fault. Somewhat gawky young man in small town America, Desmond Doss (Andrew Garfield, Social Network. Never Let Me Go. 99 Homes) falls in love with nurse Dorothy Schutte (Teresa Palmer). This is well done but we have seen these scenes so often before.  Then he signs up for the army but as a conscientious objector he won’t carry a gun (he wants to be a medic and save lives not take them) so he gets bullied in training camp by the Sergeant and others. Inevitable clichés.
Then he goes off to war and is heroic in a ghastly battle and they all realise how wrong they were about him. Heavenly choirs sing and there is a little triumphalism. He reunites with his now wife Dorothy. This film is well made and exciting and has done well at the box office, returning $164m so far on a budget of $40m. I am not criticising it as an endeavour and I don’t know how Gibson could have dodged the clichés, especially since his hands were tied because it is true story.  The battle scenes (the film was shot in Australia) are reminiscent of Saving Private Ryan and exciting and terrifying in equal measure. The hero is undoubtedly a hero.
I think what can lift a war film above the clichés is a major performance (Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now. Kirk Douglas in Paths of Glory, Robert De Niro and Christopher Walken in The Deer Hunter) and sadly I don’t think Andrew Garfield is strong enough here. He is though an unusual hero. Making it in Black and White might have helped.
He said of the film:
[on choosing to play Desmond Doss in 'Hacksaw Ridge'] I sat with Mel and talked at length about it, and my only concern was: I don't want to do this film if the message is , 'Christianity is the only way'. And he agreed. It was vital to me that we communicated that Desmond's faith was deeper than any dogma, deeper than any set of man-made rules, but that he was in touch with a deep knowledge in his bones, as opposed to any ideology.
I think this was the problem – we didn’t get enough of his inner voice - a voice over 1st person narration would have helped. Teresa Palmer (The Dark Knight Rises) as his girlfriend/wife is strong when she appears. . Maybe barrack–room bully Smitty Ryker (very well played by Luke Bracy) could have loomed larger as a counter to his beliefs – the exchanges they have are powerful. I just hope that the thousands seeing the film take away the heroism of the conscientious objector as well as the quite extra-ordinary heroism of the “ordinary” soldiers. As it was for all the greet sequences and good direction I came away feeling oddly unmoved. Another note – the perfect Hollywood” smile achieved by modern dental cosmetic work looked very out of place in World War 2.
Good direction, important and inspiring story and good performances but for me the clichés ate away at my involvement. 6/10

@TVGuideMagazine @Kyle_MacLachlan & @DAVID_LYNCH on the long-awaited return of #TwinPeaks.
When David Lynch and Mark Frost’s surreal Twin Peaks debuted on ABC in April 1990, the nascent World Wide Web was not yet a delivery service for instant feedback—or spoilers. Audiences found themselves frustrated yet intrigued with having to wait, week after week, to learn clues about the trippy show’s central mystery: Who bumped off small-town bad girl Laura Palmer (played by Sheryl Lee)? But even in today’s era of information overload, Showtime has unveiled only the most cryptic of teasers about the much-anticipated 18-episode revival, leaving fans waiting yet again.
Returning star Kyle MacLachlan, who revisits his lead role as unorthodox FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper, also has remained mum on what Coop’s beat will be. Is there a new murder? Is java-loving Agent Cooper still seeing apparitions? Will anyone’s deceased soul find its way into a drawer’s knob? (Yes, that actually happened—along with jazzy dance breaks, soul-stealing supernatural entities in jean jackets and lots of ebullient appreciation of doughnuts and sandwiches.) “I wish I could tell you more,” the actor says with a laugh. “I’m just incredibly excited about what people’s response is going to be.”
Here’s what’s known: It’s now 25 years after the Northwest community of Twin Peaks parsed out the demise of homecoming queen Palmer, with her last seven days rumored to provide a crucial clue to the new narrative. Lynch is directing and cowriting—with producing partner Frost—all 18 installments of the limited series. So how was it to be back in the director’s chair? “Close to heaven on Earth,” says Lynch (below, with the late Miguel Ferrer). “It’s like a feature film divided into parts, so in order for it to hold together, it should be [made] by the same bunch.”
In fact, fan faves such as Mädchen Amick (Shelley), Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey), Kimmy Robertson (Lucy), Harry Goaz (Deputy Andy), Dana Ashbrook (Bobby) and James Marshall (James) are all back. “We’d see each other, and within seconds it’d be like no time had passed at all,” says Lynch, who also reprises his role as comically hard-of-hearing FBI Chief Gordon Cole. Plus, a bevy of new faces in secret roles adds star power to the 217-person cast, including Jennifer Jason Leigh, Naomi Watts, Richard Chamberlain, Ashley Judd and Laura Dern.
This incarnation also marks a TV milestone: The first two parts are making their debut this month at the Cannes Film Festival, the first time in the fest’s 70 years that series television will be shown alongside glitzy gala movie premieres.
“I love revisiting the world and the characters of Twin Peaks,” Lynch says, noting the reboot might not all be set in the town we once knew. Given the various celebrations and fan sites in the show’s honor, so do many viewers. How good is your recall on Twin Peaks?
Here’s your ultimate A-to-Z guide to the seminal drama—including some cool trivia. Cherry pie and cup of joe optional. (Additional reporting by Jeff Pfeiffer)
Angelo Badalamenti The American composer nabbed a Best Pop Instrumental Grammy in 1991 for Twin Peaks’ haunting main theme. Another fun fact: He’s scored six of Lynch’s films and even has a small role in one of them: 2001’s Mulholland Drive.
BOB, aka Killer BOB This evil ghoul from the supernatural realm (Frank Silva, left) possessed Laura’s tortured dad, Leland Palmer (Ray Wise), and eventually, per the final moments of the ABC series, Agent Cooper. Lynch cast Peaks’ set decorator Silva in the pivotal role after spotting him in a mirror’s reflection, which would later—prophetically—become BOB’s creepy visual signature.
Carlton Cuse The Bates Motel cocreator admitted, “We pretty much ripped off Twin Peaks” to capture the tone of the Psycho prequel. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!
Diane Keaton The Oscar-winning actress directed the not-very-well-received Season 2 episode “Slaves and Masters,” which wrapped up shady businessman Ben Horne’s (Richard Beymer) bizarre delusion that he was a Civil War hero.
Emmys Peaks won a pair of trophies (for costuming and editing) but was nominated for a whopping 18 total, including drama series, leading actor (MacLachlan), leading actress (Piper Laurie as Catherine Martell, the town’s sullen saw mill proprietor) and supporting actress (Fenn, as teenage seductress Audrey Horne).
Fire Walk With Me The maligned 1992 big-screen prequel film—which has since developed nearly as much of a cult following as the series—starred Lynch, Kiefer Sutherland and singer Chris Isaak as agents investigating the murder of Teresa Banks (the show’s other initial murder case) and tied into the last week of Laura Palmer’s short life.
Great Northern Now known as the Salish Lodge and often flocked to by superfans, the rustic inn seen in the lush opening credits has been renovated into a chic resort and spa that overlooks the Snoqualmie Falls near Seattle.
Horne’s Department Store Audrey’s job at her dad’s retail outlet in Season 1 led from her becoming a swoony Lolita-type into a full-fledged spy, infiltrating his secret brothel after discovering that salesgirls were being lured into prostitution. Scandalous!
Invitation to Love The faux soap opera watched by several Peaks characters often mimicked the series’ own storylines, including one involving a twin cousin. (Lee also played Laura Palmer’s more demure, brunette cousin, Maddy Ferguson.)
Johnson, Shelley After auditioning for the role of winsome high schooler Donna (played by Lara Flynn Boyle, who is not returning for the revival), newcomer Amick (now starring on Riverdale) so wowed the producers that they created the role of put-upon Double R Diner waitress Shelley just for her. She quickly became adored by fans.
Kiana Lodge The Poulsbo, Washington, locale was used for the Great Northern’s interior shots and as the Blue Pine Lodge, which was a residence shared by Catherine, her goofy fisherman husband, Pete (Jack Nance), and the sultry Josie (Joan Chen), a Chinese émigré with a dodgy past who famously kept a low profile in the industrial township.
Log Lady The recently departed Catherine E. Coulson’s memorably deadpan mystic—who shared a very special connection to her beloved wood—helped Cooper by giving him clues throughout Laura’s murder investigation. The Log Lady (seen right) was famously spoofed in an episode of the Rob Morrow series Northern Exposure.
Man from Another Place, The As the key resident of Cooper’s dream-induced Red Room, Michael J. Anderson’s scary-cool “dancing dwarf” spoke in backward riddles and proclamations. (Our favorite: “That gum you like is going to come back in style.”) He later inspired a memorable bit on The Simpsons.
Northwest Passage This was the original name of the pilot script written by Lynch and co-creator Frost. Not as catchy!
One-Eyed Jacks Owned by Ben Horne and run by madam Blackie O’Reilly (Victoria Catlin), this casino was best known for peddling drugs and hookers and, most importantly, for being one of the last places its young employee Laura Palmer was seen alive.
Project Blue Book Agent Cooper was briefed on this real-life 1950s–1960s secret probe into UFOs conducted by the U.S. government, which he was told included activity around the perimeter of Twin Peaks—hence all the ghostly goings-on.
Queen of Diamonds The famous playing-card royal served as inspiration for Audrey’s outfit at One-Eyed Jacks on her first night as a new hostess…which almost ends with Audrey’s being “broken in” by the owner, who is (gasp) her father!
Roadhouse The show’s biker bar hosted several clandestine rendezvous, as well as Cooper’s meeting with the Giant (the main figure in Cooper’s many dream states), the ill-fated Miss Twin Peaks pageant and musical performances by Julee Cruise’s ethereal house chanteuse (who also sings Peaks’ main theme, “Falling”).
Silent curtain runners High-strung town weirdo Nadine (Wendy Robie) served as its resident inventor too, including this unusual solution for the screech heard when opening draperies.
TV Guide Magazine Twin Peaks placed No. 20 in our 2004 countdown of TV’s Top 25 Cult Shows. (Yes, we know it should have been higher!)
Uproar What happened when fans didn’t find out who killed Laura in the Season 1 finale or even the Season 2 premiere. BOB’s deadly deed was finally revealed in the November 10, 1990, episode, but by then, the low ratings proved more lethal than he was.
Violence Despite the fact the primetime show was on a broadcast network shackled with standards-and-practices regulations, eyebrows were routinely raised for its unflinching portrayals of domestic abuse, electroshock torture and, indelibly, the signature image of Laura Palmer nestled in a body bag.
Wrapped in Plastic This same image in the show inspired the title of rocker/devoted fan Marilyn Manson’s 1994 song about dysfunction, which also samples Laura’s screams from the series finale. A meta treat for fans.
X-Files Before the truth was out there, David Duchovny (left)—then dating actress Robertson, who plays baby-voiced police secretary Lucy—made his television debut portraying trans FBI agent Denise Bryson.
Yamaguchi, Fumio The actor credited with playing Season 2’s mysterious Japanese real estate investor “Mr. Tojamura” turned out to be a fake! All along, it was series regular Piper Laurie’s believed-to-be-dead Catherine in full-on Mission: Impossible–level disguise. Had us fooled!
Zen It proved to be the preferred mental state of dogged crime fighter Agent Cooper, whether he was calmly dictating into his prized tape recorder or hanging upside down to meditate. Will he still be as cool 25 years later?
