Tmr characters going trick or treating together (HAPPY HALLOWEEN):
(This one's been chilling in my drafts waiting for spooky day so here we go)
Let's start with the obvious, thomas and newt ARE DOING matching costumes.
Tbh I think they'd do something very basic, theyd get white sheets cut holes out and be ghosts but they'd wear some colourful fluffy socks and pull them up and wear blackout sunglasses over the sheets
And if minho wanted to do a trio they'd do alvin and the chipmunks (minho as alvin, thomas as simon and newt as Theodore (in my humble opinion))
If not, then I feel minho and brenda would go as those two from Subway surfers, tricky and jake, bc they both thought it was cool (they would both bring real spray paint cans and may or may not dabble in some vandalism, but shhhh)
Gally (being gally) didn't want to go, but when he saw everyone getting excited, he felt left out
"FIIIINEEEE if you insist, I'll come with you all"
"We didn't say anyt-"
"NONO it's fine, too late to apologise, I'm going now"
He would either just wear all black clothes and a scary mask (one of those light up purge ones probs) OR, he would still wear all black but put a police cap on and be the policeman from subway surfers to go with minho and brenda
If the girls did a group costume they would be the victorious girls (teresa as tori sonya as cat brenda as trina and Harriet as jade YES PLEASE!!!!!) (I would say they could do that one improv episode with the sleepover at sikowitz's but trina isn't in it 😔)
Alby would be there to babysit these CHILDREN
He would be the angry dad tapping his foot at the end of the driveway waiting for them to get their sweets
He's the one chasing down minho and brenda if they use their spray paint
Give my guy alby a break 😭😭😭
I can picture teresa as coraline, cute outfit she's wearing the blue wig yellow raincoat and everything
No one goes as a character from coraline with her but she's chill slaying alone. She stays back chatting to alby, trying to calm the poor man down from sprinting after gally because he jumpscared a group of children.
CHUCK GOES AS A CREEPER
He wears full green and paints a box to put over his head. Thinks it's really cool until SOMEBODY (gally) starts repeatedly smacking the top of his box
(Gally has been smacked in the back of the head by alby so many times he may have a bald spot at this point)
Harriet and sonya go as jake and finn from adventure time (sonya as finn harriet as jake) or if aris wants to go (I feel like he wouldn't care for Halloween but sonya bribed him with the promise of sweets) they'd go as kenny Stan and kyle from south park. They'd go as this is because aris DEFINITELY has that big orange coat kenny wears and you cant tell me he doesnt bc he does (he goes as kenny Harriet as stan and sonya as kyle)
Fypan (wanting to make chuck feel better) goes as a minecraft zombie with a box on his head (live laugh frypan 🥹🫶)
And if they did a whole group costume they'd go as SIMS!!! They'd print out print out those plumbob crystals and glue them to headbands. They'd all be green accept for gally who was given a red one and alby who's red plumbob was very much forced upon him
And yes, they do walk around talking simlish :)
(This was so all over the place im so sorry i had alot to say 😭) HOPE YOU ENJOYED HAPPY HALLOWEEN MY LOVELYS <33333

Oakhurst, CA
Dad wanted to drive to Oakhurst, which is south and uphill, at the junction of CA-49 and CA-41. Despite the gold mining theme, Oakhurst was started as a timber town, not a mining town (displacing the spot's role as a meeting place for disparate Native American tribes).
Dad's idea was to check out thrift stores because there are bajillions of them... and the urge so many of us Yelpers and GoogleMapsers had, circa 2020, to use our reviews to promote local business means that every hole in the wall with a rack of stained baby clothes has five-star gushing reviews. I don't have the heart to try to correct any of this.
Southgate Station, above, was the highlight of the Oakhurst part of the trip. It's a complex of little paint-peeling vintage-looking buildings that might actually be old or might be sheds bought at the local lumber yard circa 1984. Many places in the west and southwest have this kind of gift-shop complex. They function not so much because the inventory is world-shakingly fantastic, but because the experience of wandering from building to building, in a wabi-sabi, non-slick atmosphere, creates delight.
Back in one corner is the mining-themed stall. This is how you know you're in the Sierra Nevada foothills: you will be given an opportunity to pan for gold and to buy gold-panning-themed accessories. Since I grew up in California, I fulfilled my gold-panning requirement on schedule in fourth grade, up at Columbia State Park.
I somehow forgot to take photos of the similar complex in Coarsegold Historic Village, where the antique store that's going out of business yielded a 1997 Hula Hair Teresa doll (more articulated than the typical 1990s Barbie, and a rare Teresa head mold with a blue-eyed face-up). She will appear on my doll blog later today, when there's enough natural light to click a pic of my three thrift-store beauties who have tanned-to-dark skin and blue hair.

IT GREG: Cross-referenced e-mail contents, web histories, ten most profitable trades, anything that tried to duck compliance. AXE: Forward the e-mails to me. IT GREG: These guys are saying some pretty terrible things about you in them. AXE: Of course they are. I’m their boss. Hit me with some of the worst. IT GREG: “The man fucking creeps me out. Is he even a man or some kind of alien magi?” “His eyes see the dark truth inside us all, a truth that wasn’t even dark until he looked at it.” “He knows I’m typing this. He’s having this e-mail read aloud to him right now.” AXE: Who wrote that? No. Don’t tell me. I already know from the syntax.

PRINCE: It’s a top-tier episode. Heh. Who said that? WENDY: You can’t think I’m gonna name names. PRINCE: I just — I want to do some relationship repair. (Backtracking) Of course, no. WENDY: Uh, “Entitled, thinks he can buy us off with private planes. I mean, I’ll take the flights, but fuck that.” “Forces you to come to his party and act like you like it while he slakes his appetite —” LUKE: Stop right there. A Rio de Janeiro Crawl/Uma Crawl Carioca
By: ImagineAW
Hi! Oi! This is my first attempt at a word crawl, so I hope this goes well. This is my version of a virtual trip to Rio de Janeiro, the Marvelous City. The easy way is to pick two challenges from each zone. The hard way is to do it all at once. Boa Sorte!
Há uma versão português aqui! (Deve ser lá embaixo da versão inglês)
North Zone
São Cristóvão Fair: This cultural center highlights culture from across Northeastern Brazil with incredible, food, music, and games. People come to dance and sing though the night. One night, you come over for dinner and end up singing karaoke and dancing with strangers into the next morning Write until the end of this scene.
Maracanã Stadium: If soccer is Brazil’s religion, then Maracanã is the cathedral. What was once the largest stadium in the world has since played host to several World Cup finals and the Olympic gold medal match. You hear that the city’s biggest teams are playing today, and get tickets. Cheer on your team; include something in this scene that will excite your readers.
Samba Schools: Carnaval is a few months away, but many of the city’s samba schools are already preparing. The suburbs are home to many schools, so you decided to spend the evening at their rehearsal dinner. In addition to an amazing show, you have a plate of Brazil’s national dish, feijoada. Pick a song and write for the duration of the song non-stop.
Quinta de Boa Vista: For a period of time, Brazil was home to the Royal Court of Portugal. After independence, it was briefly a kingdom of its own until it became a republic. During that time, this amazing park was home to the palace. The palace was later turned into an amazing museum. The museum largely burned down in 2018, but you can still visit the beautiful park and zoo that surrounded it. Write for 10 minutes.
West Zone
Surfing in Recreio: Far from all the people crowding the beaches of the South Zone, surfers from around the world come to enjoy the waves and tan. You decide to spend a few hours on the beach. If you know how to swim, write 300 words. If not, write 500.
Hang gliding from Pedra Branca: If you’ve ever wanted to see Rio like birds, then here is your chance to fly. Take off happens from inside Tijuca National Park and you land on the beach. Just thinking about it makes your heart race. Flip a coin. If heads, write for 5 minutes. If tails, write for 15 minutes.
Tijuca Forest: The forest that surrounds Rio de Janeiro was mostly planted by hand, after it was destroyed for coffee plantations. Despite being one of the smallest national parks in Brazil, it’s still one of the biggest urban forests in the world. You lace up your shoes one morning and see all the animals and trees living together in the wilderness. Brazil is home to a lot of animals, but not the Fifty Headed Hydra. Try to write 500 words in 5 minutes.
Barra Shopping Malls: Barra is an upper class neighborhood best known for its malls. The shopping centers here are filled with good deals and attractions. You decide to grab a few things while you’re in the area. Add a special item to your scene.
Boat Tour through the Swamp: The opulent neighborhood of Barra was built on top of a marsh that you can still see behind the luxury condos. When one the guys at the dock gives you a great deal on a tour, you give it a try and see caimans and birds. You even grab a snack on the hidden island of Gigoia. Write for 15 minutes.
Downtown /Central
Clubbing in Lapa: Hundreds of years ago, the Lapa arches served as an aqueduct that brought water into downtown. One night, you pass underneath to party at one of the many clubs that line the streets of Lapa.Join the party at the NaNoWordSprints Twitter account!
Santa Teresa: On a hill overlooking downtown and the South Zone is the beautiful neighborhood of Santa Teresa. It has traditionally been the home of intellectuals and artists. You take a trip on the famous tram and see the beautiful architecture. Write for 5 minutes
Escadaria Selarón: A Chilean painter and sculptor named Jorge Selarón began to cover the steps by his house in colorful tiles. He called it his tribute to the Brazilian people, and now people from around the world come to see his work. You take photos and climb the steps to Santa Teresa. Include a little more color in your next description.
Valongo Wharf: Brazil brought more Africans to its shores as slaves than any other country in the Americas and was the last to abolish slavery. Between 500 thousand and 1 million came through this dock, which is now a World Heritage Site. You pay tribute to the people who suffered here. Write 333 words, one for each year slavery existed in Brazil.
Museu de Amanhã: This museum was created just before the Olympics as an intellectual icon of the city. You decide to see the brand new exhibits for a few hours one morning. Write until the next multiple of 1000.
Cinelândia: Rio de Janeiro briefly served as the capital of Portugal when the royal court was escaping the Napoleonic Wars. They also brought over the empire’s institutions and wealth in the process, constructing beautiful new homes for things like the the National Museum of Fine Arts, the Municipal Theatre, and the National Library. You can’t see everything in one day, but you can try. Try to write 200 words in 10 minutes.
South Zone
Sugarloaf Mountain: In Brazil, the most famous landmark of Rio is the beautiful mountain along Guanabara Bay. The cablecar ride to the top of the mountain provides a spectacular view of the whole city. You decide to enjoy the ride early on one day. Write for 6 minutes, the length of the ride.
Christ the Redeemer: One of the New Wonders of the World, this statue of Jesus has been overlooking and embracing Rio de Janeiro for 90 years. One morning you ride the tram up Corcovado to visit it. Include a hug in your scene.
Flamengo Park: Locals love nothing more than getting outside, and this is the perfect place to do it. Beyond the beach and sports fields, it’s also home to the Museum of Modern Art and the Marina da Glória. You start one morning off with a walk, and you can see planes land at Santos Dumont Airport. If you grew up learning that Alberto Santos Dumont was the inventor of the airplane, write 100 words. If you grew up with the Wright Brothers, write 300 words. If you grew up learning about neither, write 500 words.
Botanical Gardens: This 200 year-old garden is dedicated to the diversity of foreign and domestic plants. One of the plants in the garden is the Brazilwood tree, which named the country. Watch your word count grow with the Three Digit Challenge.
Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon: This heart-shape lake is sandwiched between all of the mountains of South Zone. If you get there early in the morning, you can even see toucans flying around. One morning, you have breakfast next to the still water. Write until your word count is a palindrome.
Dois Irmãos Mountain: This hike is well worth the hours of effort. You can see all of the South Zone from the top and beautiful forest all the way up. You can’t get there alone though, you’ll need a mototaxi to get through Vidigal to the beginning of the hike. Go to a write-in, watch a virtual one online, or replay an old one on YouTube.
Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon Beaches: These are some of the most famous beaches on Earth. You spend a whole day on the beach, swimming and tanning. You sip on a caipirinha and watch guys play footvolley on the sand. Take a 10 minute break and have a drink of water.
Hippie Fair: If you want a souvenir, there’s no place better than the Hippie Fair. Tourists and locals like to come here for interesting finds like art and clothes. You dedicate your Sunday afternoon to looking around at all the things people have to offer. Write 250 words.
Capoeira Classes in Vidigal: As a form of resistance, enslaved Africans in Brazil created capoeira. Capoeira is a mixture of martial arts and dance that allowed them practice fighting on the plantation. Today, it is a famous part of Black Brazilian heritage. You sign up for classes with a community organization in Vidigal, one of the favelas in the South Zone. Write for 15 minutes.
Sunset at Arpoador: At the end of a beautiful day at the beach, people gather on the rocks of Arpoador to watch the sunset. As the sun hides behind the horizon, next to Pedra da Gávea and Dois Irmãos, everyone begins to clap. Write 167 words.

Natural Sounds Thrive in Silent Places (Great Basin National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the south-southwest while taking in views around Teresa Lake in Great Basin National Park. This is while walking the Alpine Lakes Loop. My thought on composing this image was to take advantage of the deadwood and other rock formations present in the foreground and create a layered look with that leading up to the lake waters and finally mountainside with its ridges and peaks. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 5 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.

The Body Politic: Long Island Biennial 2024
In 2024—a year of global elections, as some 60 countries representing half of the world’s populations hold regional and national leadership votes—The Heckscher Museum of Art invited Long Island artists to submit work which engages with contemporary social, cultural, or political issues. The Museum received 762 artwork submissions from 313 artists, and the result, The Body Politic: Long Island Biennial 2024 features exceptional art from contemporary artists in a compelling museum-wide exhibition that features 79 works of art accepted from 60 artists.
The jurors for the 2024 Long Island Biennial were Ian Alteveer, Beal Family Chair of the Department of Contemporary Art, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Patricia Cronin, sculptor, Artistic Director of the LGBTQ+ VR Museum and Distinguished Professor of Art, Brooklyn College; and Grace Hong, Assistant Director, Galerie Lelong & Co.
The artists chosen represent the breadth of communities across Suffolk and Nassau counties and the exhibition encompasses a remarkable variety of media with styles spanning abstraction to hyperrealism. “We remain committed to sharing inspiring and thought-provoking new art with our visitors.” said Heather Arnet, Executive Director & CEO. The 8th edition of the Long Island Biennial “will resonate with the entire community given the diversity in artists and the universality of the important themes in their work.”

EDITOR: I recently heard “It was great even before the lakes!” referring to our beautiful Oconee County. A large portion of the population worked in textiles, factories, logging, construction, farming, or mills. We had jobs and educational opportunities. But in the 1960’s many were convinced to sell out, usually coaxed by a friendly neighbor who had bought in to the plan. Our families sacrificed farmland, bottomland fertile soil, homesteads, rivers, favorite fishing holes, and waterfalls to be covered forever by lakes. Yes, it was great, even before the lakes. Let’s preserve what we have left! Speak out to prevent overdevelopment! LRMartin Planning Commission Meeting Monday, May 6th at 6PM in the County Chambers 415 S Pine Street, Walhalla. Oconee County Council Meeting Tuesday May 7th at 6PM 415 S Pine Street, Walhalla. ( Meets 1st & 3rd Tues each month)

The Commons Area had an inviting air of elegance decorated with linens and beautiful colorful table settings. Some hope this will become an annual event to look forward to.
Jottings from Miz Jeannie by Jeannie Barnwell Cliff's Notes on Healing GRIEF I hope it's not YOU, but some precious local resident is in the throes of Grief. Please pass this on to such a person. AND especially if you know a teenager going through a broken heart, spend time with the youngster getting across these suggestions.1) Grief can hit you like a poignant case of homesickness. The good thing is it comes in waves. You will feel like you could drown, and then that feeling subsides, but it will return. 2) The sadness you experience is because you took a chance to love. When grief subsides, you will cherish the chance that you took, pain and all. 3) Remember that GOD was with you before you lost your loved one. AND GOD will surely be with you in your loss. 4) People process GRIEF on their individual time tables. NEVER SAY, "Oh, I thought you would be over that by now!” MIZ JEANNIE LOVES YOU!!!

Gallery visit: Banksy exhibition (24.1.24)
Timeline and history in the gallery:
Dismaland (2015, mixed media with replicas displayed)
Description: "'Dismaland', Banksy largest project to date, opened its doors in 2015, within the walls of a derelict lido site, Tropicana, in Weston-super-Mare. The show was built as a Bemusement Park for a family day out, but instead of a sugar-coated fantasy land, it appeared as a distorted-mirror-Banksy-kind of fun fair: dark, ironic, sharp and unsettling. For this huge project, the elusive artist invited 50 different artists from 17 countries and created 'a fairground that embraces brutality and low-level criminality'."
Girl and Balloon Mural (2002, stencil)
Description: "'Girl and Balloon' first appeared as a mural on Waterloo Bridge in South Bank, London. The piece depicts a young girl reaching out to a red heart-shaped balloon with the words 'There is always hope' alongside it. This striking image has been used in various social campaigns over the years, including ones focused on the West Bank barrier in 2005, the Syrian refugee crisis in 2014, and the 2017 UK election. In 2018, a framed copy of the artwork was auctioned and spontaneously shredded by a hidden mechanical device, which Banksy had installed. The altered piece was renamed 'Love is in the Bin,' and Sotheby's noted that 'it was the first work in history ever created during a live auction.' Despite its transformation, the artwork remains a powerful commentary on hope and the value of art."
CCTV Britannia (2009, spray paint on metal mesh)
Description: "In 2009, Banksy displayed 'CCTV Britannia' at his 'Banksy vs. Bristol' Museum exhibit. The artwork is a modified version of the Armada memorial statue in Plymouth, Devon, which depicts Britannia, a symbol of Britain, holding a shield, spear, and lion. The original statue commemorates Britain's victory over the Spanish army."
UFO (2006, oil on canvas and oil on aluminium cut-outs)
Description: "'UFO' from Banksy's 'Crude Oils' exhibition showcases his unique approach of reimagining classical paintings with a twist of vandalism. 'UFO' was originally created for the special exhibition, it later made an appearance at Banksy's own show, 'Banksy vs. Bristol' museum in 2009. The piece explores the connection between different artistic expressions and challenges traditional notions of what is considered 'art'."
No Ball Games (2006, stencil)
Description: "'No Ball Games' alludes to a liberation of childhood and children's exemption from life's rules and expectations. The children are in an area not zoned for fun and play, but do so in defiance, going so far as to toss the sign as if it were a toy. 'No Ball Games' was sprayed in the same year on a shop wall at the junction between Tottenham High Road and Philip Lane, North London, but has since been removed and sold by the Sincura group in 2013, at an estimated £500,000, with the profits going to help disadvantaged children. It was taken down by the group as part of their controversial Stealing Banksy project. Many argued the work's meaning would be lost by its removal, but also that a piece of the area's heritage would also be taken. Banksy condemned the group's removal of the work, saying in a statement: "The show has nothing to do with me and I think it's disgusting people are allowed to go display art on walls without getting permission." This piece first appeared on canvas in 2006 at Banksy's Barely Legal exhibition in Los Angeles. Later in 2009, Banksy released a signed edition of 250 No Ball Games prints on both green and grey block backgrounds."
Mother Teresa (2006, stencil)
Description: "One of the notable pieces from Banksy's 'Barely Legal' exhibition in Los Angeles in 2006, this artwork encompasses multiple critiques. It humorously targets religion by utilising a religious figure that has become a pop culture icon of virtue. However, it also highlights the diminishing impact of Mother Teresa's life and teachings, reduced to cosmetic advice presented in a crude and shallow manner reminiscent of a basic internet search."
Barcode Leopard (2003, stencil)
Description: "Banksy's 'Barcode Leopard' originally appeared on the side of a house in Bristol on Pembroke Road before the stencil was mysteriously removed in August 2010. After four years, it unexpectedly resurfaced during a local school exhibition in Somerset. This minimalist image holds significant symbolism. The leopard depicted in the artwork is seen breaking free from its cage, which takes the form of a barcode. The powerful imagery forces us to confront the issue of animal cruelty, highlighting how animals are often treated as mere commodities and how endangered species are subjected to the forces of commercialism. Animal rights advocacy is a recurring theme in Banksy's art, and 'Barcode Leopard' serves as a prominent example of his commentary on the subject."
Paranoid Pictures (2003, stencil)
Description: "In 2003, Banksy created a small edition of acrylic and stencil spray paint on canvas featuring a modified version of the Paramount Pictures logo, renamed as 'Paranoid Pictures.' 'Your mind works best when you're paranoid. You explore every avenue and possibility of your situation at high speed with total clarity.' - Banksy (Banging Your Head Against A Brick Wall) Through this piece, Banksy challenges conventional thinking and encourages viewers to embrace a more vigilant and inquisitive mindset. The modification of the iconic logo serves as a clever subversion of popular culture, highlighting the artist's ability to juxtapose familiar imagery with thought- provoking messages."
Flower Thrower (2002, stencil)
Description: "By incorporating the image of an activist utilising a peaceful gesture in a zone of intense war conflict, Banksy presents a powerful message of love and activism. The artwork symbolises the desire for positive change and the rejection of violence as a means to achieve it. It highlights the potential of peaceful protest and advocates for a shift in the approach to addressing issues such as capitalism and military regimes. 'Flower Thrower' also offers a contemplative perspective on the efficacy of nonviolent resistance. The act of throwing flowers against a wall, which may seem futile in the face of oppressive systems, serves as a metaphorical representation of the idea that goodness and positive."
Kissing Coppers (2006, stencil)
Description: "'Kissing Coppers' is a Banksy stencil of two British policemen kissing. It was originally unveiled on the wall of the Prince Albert Pub in Brighton, England in 2004 and gained significant attention due to Banks's notoriety as a provocative street artist and activist. This piece was intentionally placed in Brighton, a city which has been referred to as the LGBTQ+ Capital of the UK. It has frequently been regarded as one of Banksy's most notable works for supporting gay [and other LGBTQ+] rights. In the UK, up until the year 2000, homosexual [and other LGBTQ+ people] were barred from serving in the British armed forces. Section 28, an act introduced by Margaret Thatcher to ban councils and schools from promoting homosexuality [and other LGBTQ+ topics/themes] in 1987, was also not replaced until 2003. It was only in the same year that gay/[queer] policemen were allowed to march uniform at gay [LGBTQ+] pride events. The Civic Partnership Act, giving same-sex couples the same rights as heterosexual couples, was not introduced until 2004. In other words, when Banksy stencilled this piece, [LGBTQ+] rights were still a big issue. (Tapies, Xavier: Where's Banksy?, Graffito Books Ltd., 2019) The original was replaced with a replica encased in Perspex after being carefully removed in 2011. It fetched $575,000 USD at a US auction after being removed from the wall of the Brighton pub."
Street Artist in Venice with Venice in Oil paintings (2019, oil paintings and short online video)
Submerged Phone Booth (2006, metal, acrylic and glass)
Description: "Banksy's 'Submerged Phone Booth', created in 2006, portrays a replica of the iconic British telecommunications phone booth emerging from a cement pavement, fragmenting and splitting the surface in the process. As with much of his work, Banksy questions society and events that often go unnoticed or ignored."
