Let’s talk about the world’s most successful YouTuber. Welcome to Unique Facts and today we’re counting down our picks for The Top 10 Facts About PewDiePie.

For this list, we’re looking at some of the things that make PewDiePie unique, eccentric and occasionally controversial, because you don’t make it to the top of YouTube by being ordinary.

10: His Name Is Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg

Let’s start with the basics. While many people know him as Pewds or even senpai, this YouTuber’s real life name is Felix Arvid Ulf Kjelberg. It’s a bit of a mouthful but it’s actually quite common in Sweden for people to have two middle names. Felix is a Latin word that means happy and successful, which just so happens to describe PewDiePie perfectly. You may also recognize the name from the Felix Felicis potion in Harry Potter, which brings luck and success to anyone who drinks it. So maybe, just maybe, there’s a little bit of magic behind PewDiePie’s success too.

9: There IS a Meaning Behind “PewDiePie”

Unlike the name his parents gave him, the name of Felix’s channel really doesn’t have that much meaning behind it, but it does come with a bit of funny and relatable origin story. In 2006 he created the PewDie channel but had to make a new channel when he forgot the login information, thus the great PewDiePie channel was born. To break it down Pew is to represent the sound a laser makes, die is what happens when you get shot by a laser, and pie… Well Pewds just thought it sounded funny, and he’d already started saying it as a bit of a catchphrase while gaming, so… why not? Also, who doesn’t love pie?

8: He Dropped Out of College

Surely much to his parents’ delight, PewDiePie was accepted into Chalmers University of Technology for a degree in industrial economics and technology management. This was quite an accomplishment since you needed excellent grades to get in, but it just wasn’t for Pewds. Before completing his degree at Chalmers, PewDiePie dropped out to pursue his own artistic endeavors. To support himself, he worked at a hot dog stand, and he managed to sell enough of his artwork to buy his early gaming/broadcasting equipment. It just goes to show that humble beginnings and sacrifice can create a legend.

7: He Has Two Licensed Video Games

It had always been a dream of Pewds’ to create his own video games and in 2015 that dream came true with the release of “PewDiePie: Legend of the Brofist.” The game takes you on an epic 2D adventure where you save Bros - i.e. PewDiePie’s fans - from the evil barrel army. In 2016 he released “PewDiePie’s Tuber Simulator”, which is a community game where you create your own YouTuber. You work to upgrade your office and become number one on YouTube. Both games have done extremely well, receiving high ratings and positive reviews.

6: He’s Very Charitable

PewDiePie has actually used his internet powers and substantial influence for good by raising money for charity. He has quite a few charities he’s passionate about like WWF, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Save the Children, and Product Red. In fact, in 2012 he won the title of "Gaming King of the Web" and donated his cash prize to the World Wildlife Fund. In 2014 Pewds made a video announcing that his channel, with the help of the Bro Army, had raised 1 million dollars for charity, and that number has only continued to grow.

5: He’s a Published Author

He’s a poet and you didn’t even know it. Well maybe not a poet… but he is hilarious and published! On October 15, 2015 PewDiePie released the magnum opus that is “This Book Loves You.” It has 240 pages of inspirational quotes and advice, which are paired with creative visuals. Well, technically the book is a satire on other inspirational books, but it has some fun words of wisdom like “Don't be yourself, be a pizza. Everyone loves pizza.” Truer words have never been put to paper. The book even made it to the #1 spot on the New York Times’ best seller list for young adult paperbacks.

4: He Met His Girlfriend When She Sent a Fan E-Mail

Theirs is a true modern romance if there ever was one. Back in 2011 Marzia Bisognin’s best friend innocently sent her a link to Felix’s videos. Marzia thought he was hilarious so she decided to write him and he wrote back. The two started talking through Facebook until Felix saved up enough money to visit her in Italy. They had to travel a lot to see each other but now they are a YouTube power-couple happily living in the UK. Marzia has over 7 million subscribers on her YouTube channel and she even has her own fashion line!

3: He’s Had to Move Because of His Fans

Jake Paul isn’t the only one having problems with fans at his place. Though at least, unlike Paul, Pewds didn’t share his home address publicly. The Bro Army is often a force for good, especially when it comes to charity drives, but other times their devotion to PewDiePie can go a little too far. There have been multiple instances of fans hunting down his address, and then showing up at his house. You shouldn’t show up to a friend’s place uninvited, let alone someone who doesn’t know you. Pewds has had to move more than once because of this. He’s even made a video telling fans to leave him alone, which, quite frankly, should’ve gone without saying.

2: He Increases Video Game Sales

If Pewds plays it… people buy it! This is especially evident when he decides to play indie-games. Pewds has been known to crash sites when the Bro Army flocks to a game that isn’t designed to handle so much traffic. You can thank him for putting a lot of games on the map like “Surgeon Simulator” and the addictive game “Flappy Bird”, may it rest in peace. We aren’t talking about a few dollars of increased sales either; when he played “Crypt of the NecroDancer” it experienced an increase in sales to the tune of 60 thousand big ones!

#1: Controversial Content Cost Him Lucrative Deals

If you’ve ever watched a PewDiePie video, then you know that he’s got a habit of pushing the limits. It has gotten him into trouble in the past, like in 2016 when he was accused of anti-Semitism after posting a number of videos that either alluded to or invoked Nazi and anti-Semitic imagery and messages. While Felix made an apology video, the offending content cost him his deal with Disney, as well as his YouTube Red series. In 2017, he used a racial slur in a livestream of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, which led game developer Campo Santo to issue a DMCA takedown of videos featuring Pewds playing their game Firewatch.

musu, 2nd year, 192cm, about 76 years old (but physically, about 19)... we don’t know his actual name, or if this really is his first name or not.... he never really elaborates and the paperwork is spotty at best.

at a first glance, musu comes off as a casual, sorta lazy, and talkative guy with a knack for thinking on his feet. he’s confident, snarky, and expressive guy who definitely can entertain a crowd! he’s also been known to be a bit of a trickster — not out of immediate malice, but just in a sense of... he’s kinda slippery.

buuut. on the other hand, he is a very self-absorbed guy who doesn’t particularly try to include others in his thought process if it doesn’t really benefit or concern him. not that it’s incredibly apparent at first, but you’ll eventually come to realize that musu’s generally only over looking out for himself. he doesn’t seem to realize this himself either.

generally speaking, u can get him to do almost anything if you reward or compliment him enough. his ego is a a blindspot and he is always a victim to his own overgrown ego ways... he’ll half-heartedly complain either way though.

musu’s can be pretty overdramatic when he’s bored or feeling like complaining. not to marian’s level or anything but he can certainly be quite the large and loud ham when he’s displeased. everyone in the immediate proximity will know, whether they want to or not.

musu’s body is incredibly durable. he’s been flung around a few times by xuehai and fallen off of a number of ledges in his lifetime, and he always manages to get up and walk (or stagger) away! he can also heal at an incredible rates, whether it be illness or injury.

what he really wants as of right now is to find a noble to latch onto. not for the sake of romance or friendship or whatever — but what he really craves is to become an honored retainer... or knight, whatever people wanna call it. he doesn’t care. he wants the prestige.

he takes a lot of time to manicure his nails and to keep himself cleanly, much to the shock of his peers because of how disorderly his appearance is. you can often find him trimming his nails and filing them because of how quickly they grow (and could possibly chip). he takes very long baths and showers because he really likes warm water, soap, and feeling clean.

musu’s bed is absolutely a mess of blankets and pillows and whatever else he’s opted to hide in there. his room is in a similar state of disorder because he just really likes to collect things that catch his eye. he’s got a number of ribbons and rocks, some coins he found on the ground. whatever works! he likes Shiny.

his unique magic is called Scaled Scales and it essentially let’s him turn into... a very small dragon. he can breathe fire, but that’s about it. still pretty indestructible though. he doesn’t really care too much about how it’s received.

So 10 facts about me…

● I have identified as Wiccan since I was 11 years old (almost half of my life). 

● I have a very big imagination and spend a very large portion of my life daydreaming in more magical worlds.

● I haven't had my natural hair colour since I was 12.

● I'm very strong minded, once I make a decision it will happen! 

● I am one of the very few people who is both a cat and a dog person, they both have very different but very lovable personalities. 

● I have a very weird pain tolerance, I hate needles and injections but enjoy the pain of a tattoo. 

● I'm really socially awkward and am shockingly bad at holding texting conversations (I am constantly apologising to someone who hasn't heard from me for like 5 months). 

● I have quite a few ideas for books I want to write but no time (or skill) to write them. 

● I'm 22 (soon) and I'm only just learning to practice self love and to put myself first - something I think is really important for everyone! 

● I did a maths degree and I'm not going to be a maths teacher or an accountant, I'm now doing a masters in Medical Statistics and I'm hoping to work in clinical trials.

let’s recap what we know about Blake’s childhood - she grew up outside the kingdoms and was involved in protests with the White Fang. that would’ve meant a lot of travelling around (especially before the organisation became more militarised and began stealing resources) - if Blake had to learn how to fight, then Kali would know how to do so too

the misconception here is assuming that the Belladonnas always lived in Menagerie in that big house while Blake was growing up, but that’s not true - Ghira didn’t become Chieftain of Menagerie until he stepped down as High Leader of the White Fang, five years prior to the series, which was the same time Blake left her parents because she thought they were cowards. Mistral is also where the White Fang is based, not Menagerie - Blake probably never lived in that big house until she went to Menagerie to see her family

Kali knows how to fight, she’s just able to also fight without the need for a specific weapon - the same goes for Ghira. and given they were hit by a surprise home invasion, the lack of weapon use is probably closer to not having them on hand than them not existing at all

based off of aphrodite and hephaestus — they seemed pretty sane and content with their relationship in the hercules movie and the subsequent hercules tv series so ! i ran with that instead of the actual mythos for the sake of Why Not and keeping the tone stable. the househusband and his go-getter wife

where vinh’s mother is a very luxurious and ostentatious woman, vinh’s father is very rugged and reserved — they are both notably protective over their family and can have a bit of a dangerous temper when it comes down to it (mamaphrodite is less inclined to harsh tempers, but hepapastus can be quick to act.)

hepapastus is missing his leg from below the knee, so he has made himself his own prosthetic ( but stylishly reminiscent of a doric pillar, for taste )

mamaphrodite is refined, lax, and very frank — she’s quite the romantic, but is still a very grounded woman; she doesn’t enjoy working or physical work, but she’ll get it done anyway (she’ll just complain the entire time). hephaestus is stalwart, sincere, but a notably coarse guy. he’s not all that idyllic in his thinking, nor is he very sociable. he generally does most of his work without many questions — he’s pretty reticent, yknow. she usually ends up having to speak up for him, if he won’t.

hepapastus works as a blacksmith — you could call mamaphrodite something akin to a businesswoman… they tend to stay out of each other’s professional spheres but it’s mainly in the sense that they have no idea what the hell is going on over there. mamaphrodite refuses to ever pick up a hammer and hepapastus would pass out if he ever had to sit through a meeting.

mamaphrodite gets around via a giant clamshell... or at least, that’s what it looked like before she asked hepapastus to modify it. nobles get bored, you know. it’s now looking kinda like an antique car. easy travel, stylish, less clammy. she likes it.

hepapastus frequently makes gifts for mamaphrodite; he’s made her a special pair of pink sunglasses that keeps curses in and UV rays out. sometimes he changes up his leg prosthetic to something that matches her dresses more.

where hephaestus primarily has his fire hair as an (ironic) show of what little power he has, mamaphrodite both glitters and leaves a trail of flowers in her wake. they truly are a couple of total opposites.

mamaphrodite has a pretty good alcohol tolerance but hepapastus on the other hand... his alcohol tolerance is awfully weak for someone who likes wine so much. vinh inherited this awful alcohol tolerance, but evidently not many of vinh’s sisters got the ‘bad at drinking’ gene so. at least one person is sober.

hepapastus’ unique magic is Let There Be Fire, in which he can superheat his body (particularly in his arms and legs, where they begin to emit a warm glow) — mamaphrodite on the other hand is Sweet Temptation, a unique magic that allows her to make an individual attracted to any person, object, or idea.
