Japanese Food Cravings

More people are becoming familiar with the unique culinary culture of Japan as the cuisine spreads throughout the country. People are lining up to get their hands on tempura, ramen, sushi rolls and other Japanese dishes. I'm taking a break and ordering takeout in the interim, but home cooks like myself are busily preparing their way through replicating some of their favorite Japanese dishes at home.

I ordered the following:

It is very convenient for us to get to Sembawang Shopping Centre with the provided free shuttle bus. In term of food varieties, there isn’t a lot to choose from unless we headed over to the opposite enclave which mum is not keen to. So, here we are at XO Minced Meat Noodle (XO 肉脞麵) for our dinner.

Mum just wants the Chicken Cutlet Noodle (炸鸡扒面) with thin yellow noodles and no chilli. Beside the pieces of sliced fried chicken, the noodles and bean sprouts are tossed in savoury brown sauce with a sprinkling of crunchy tempura bits and lettuce. A bowl of soup is provided for every order of dry style noodles.

I opted for Scallop Minced Meat Noodle (鲜贝肉脞面) which is also dry style thin yellow noodles but I asked for chilli paste to be added. On top of it are a lot of other ingredients like a pair of scallops, fried dumpling, Fuzhou fish ball, fish ball, braised mushroom, sliced fishcake and pork with plenty of minced pork, tempura bits and lettuce.
