January 11th 2024
Yeah its been a while since i updated. I haven't had the energy to if i'm honest, but here we go.
Hubby had his brain surgery end of November '23. The tumour they took out was a nasty one, somewhere between the size of a golf ball and a kiwi fruit. The wound has healed well with little to no side affects apart from some double vision, but he was checked out for that and it is a common after affect of brain trauma and was remedied with an eyepatch for a few weeks.
We met with the Neuro Oncology team at Royal Marsden Hospital in London. They are one of the best (if not the best) cancer treatment centres in the whole country, and we worked through a treatment plan.
Just before Christmas hubby was also cleared to have shoulder reconstructive surgery (he broke his shoulder bone in the original seizures back at the end of October '23). There was a really small window of time between it being enough time after the brain surgery that he could go back under general anaesthetic, but also enough time to mostly heal before he started Radiotherapy and Chemo, so just 5 days before Christmas hubby was in and out of our local hospital in a single day to have that surgery.
Christmas was a quiet and subdued affair. I also herniated a disk in my back the day Hubby had surgery (i was clearing the deep freeze out ready for grocery delivery), so it meant both he and I were dosed up to our eyeballs on strong painkillers for most of the holiday, and Little Dude spent the majority of the break either playing video games or building his new lego sets.
Two days before Christmas i also had to have emergency dental work (i had been grinding my teeth and had previously cracked a tooth) and whilst i was in the dentists office some utter idiot crashed into my car. That was the last thing i needed but i simply handed it all over to my insurance company (who are aware of my husbands situation) and they arranged a hire vehicle and sorted repairs.
Onto the start of 2024. This is the first week of Radiotherapy and Chemo for Hubby. He is getting very tired and fatigued already from the Radiotherapy, but thankfully no nausea from the chemo as yet, but that could change over time. He is scheduled for a full schedule of 6 weeks of this dual treatment, where we are having to visit Royal Marsden every day Mon - Fri for the six weeks, and then he also takes the chemo 7 days a week for the six weeks.
He'll then have 4 to 6 weeks 'off' treatment for his body to relax and recuperate, but will have scans and MRI's during that time to gauge what further treatment will be, but its likely to be just chemo but a stronger dose, but no radiotherapy. The chemo is to be 3 weeks off one week on, so a 4 weekly cycle.
The one thing we have discovered isn't done is prognosis's. When we first got to Royal Marsden we were shocked as they started talking about years, and explained that although it was a really nasty tumour, it was found very early and whilst it was still relatively small for its kind. They've discussed things like 'this years treatment plan then we'll look at next years', and also for a while Hubby was being considered for a clinical trial which candidates who have prognosis's of 12 months+ are only considered for. In the end he didn't meet the criteria (his cholesterol was too high). The Macmillian Nurses also have been talking to us about Mobility Car assistance schemes where you can get govt assistance financially and get an adapted vehicle on a 2 year rolling lease. All these timings are reassuring in one way, but worrying in another - we have no idea what the future holds and it really does cement in stone that our time is limited and could end any moment, and makes it very difficult to make any long term plans. You don't realise how much of your life is preplanned until you end up in this situation and aren't sure if you can book your kid onto the school residential trip in 5 months time.
Should anyone want the mundane daily day-to-day life updates you can follow me on my personal instagram @simone_with_an_e its generally a load of utter boring bollocks, but i try to keep it updated daily with updates when i can as its a lot easier to do 1 short paragraph than a big update.
For me my mental health is a little better now that i've had time to process Hubby's diagnosis and that he is getting treatment. There are still days or hours when i fall apart, and it could be something as simple as listening to a song on the radio as i drive back from dropping Little Dude at school and i realise the song would be lovely at his funeral. I end up having to pull over and have a cry whilst switching the radio off. I'm loosing weight and aging quickly, my hair is turning grey from stress and i realised i've aged about 15 years in the last 3 from stress. My appetite comes and goes, and things like red meat now turn my stomach and i can't digest it. But i also haven't drunk alcohol since the day before Hubby had his seizure back in October. I feel like i need to stay 'alert' in case i need to rush him to the hospital for something. I don't miss it as such, but I miss the ability to fully relax. Its hard to describe but i feel like at the moment i've lost myself and am just functioning to care for those around me, going through the motions as such.
Anyway, this has been a long update. I do still lurk here, you may see me pop up in notifications liking something, but at the moment i don't feel its right to start putting fandom stuff back on here yet. I do hope to get back to writing at some point. I miss it and the unfinished stories plague my mind as i have such lovely plans for story arc's and really want to finish them.
Take care all,
Schnauz

Talk to Me
NineRose Day 3: "We need to talk about this"
(I finally finished it!!! It's also on AO3 under SeraphinaVerena, if you want to check it out)
Rose was hiding deep inside the TARDIS, avoiding the Doctor. Despite the futility of it, Rose hoped that the TARDIS would keep her hidden. She knew that the ship, while sentient in some form, however, would always favor the Doctor even if she sometimes left little presents on her nightstand in the morning. Still, she hoped.
They had been in London that day, Rose dropped by Jackie’s to get her clothes washed—no matter that the TARDIS could do that herself, too. But Rose enjoyed being able to come home, giving her something that grounded her to Earth, because all that she’d seen with the Dcotor, Rose was sure that she could get lost if it weren’t for Jackie. But today had been different.
Rose, saddled with her clean laundry after saying goodbye to her mom, was walking across the Powell Estate courtyard back to the TARDIS. The Doctor had refused to come up with her, not after the last time when Jackie had slapped him, claiming to have to do “important repairs, Rose. The TARDIS can’t fly without ‘em.” She’d smiled and let him get away with the lie, not really in the mood to break up their bickering anyway. However, when a horrifyingly familiar voice called her name, Rose wished like hell the Doctor had come with her.
At first, Rose froze, unsure if she was hearing things, but when she heard the voice call for her again, Rose continued to the TARDIS, walking faster than before. She was nearly to the TARDIS when someone grabbed her arm.
“Thought that was you, Rose,” he said, causing a shiver to run down Rose’s spine. “Ignorin’ me now, are we?” Every muscle in her body tensed, but she forced herself to face him.
“Hi, Jimmy,” Rose said tightly, grimacing slightly. His grip on her arm wasn’t painful, but she didn’t any part of him touching her. Carefully, she turned her body so Jimmy would have to let go to remain civil or risk being too aggressive--a line he knew how to dance on well.
“Haven’t seen you around for a while, Rose. Heard you were ‘traveling.’” The smirk on Jimmy’s face told her how likely he thought that was. “I just figured you’d found some bloke to shack up with and didn’t want to fess up to your mum.”
Rose narrowed her eyes, edging further away from him. Once, she had found his bleach blond hair and dark eyes alluring—everything her mum would’ve hated, but now every part of her skin itched just to be around him. She knew better; she was better.
“What do you want, Jimmy?” Rose asked through gritted teeth, trying desperately to not let her nerves show. Jimmy got off on that--on her fear and, from that, her compliance. Logically, Rose knew she shouldn’t be afraid of Jimmy. Of all the things she’d seen in the last few months, Jimmy was nothing. He was a spider on the wall or a weird shadow in the corner of her room. He was the past, and Rose Tyler had seen the end of the world and Jimmy Stone was just a bad memory.
Unfortunately, it seemed Rose’s body wasn’t agreeing with the logic. Her hands were shaking and her grip tightened around her laundry bag. Her gaze kept skirting along the edges of the courtyard, looking for an escape, and her feet itched to run back to the TARDIS, slamming the door behind her.
Instead, she was frozen to the spot, Jimmy’s dark eyes and cruel sneer trapping her in broad daylight when she should be better than this.
Jimmy quirked an eyebrow—a dangerous sign that Rose still knew the meaning of even after all this time—at her tone, and took a step closer to her. She backed up another foot, but he just followed her. “Wow, he must be some guy, yeah? You coming back here and acting like you’re better than me just cuz some well-doing bloke thinks you’re a decent shag.” Rose’s face flushed red and her hand balled into a fist.
“Shove off, Jimmy,” Rose hissed, turning on her heel and stomping to the TARDIS.
“Oh, c’mon, Rose!” Jimmy hassled, following right behind her. She could feel his presence crawling up her back like a swarm of ants. “I just wanna catch up. Maybe we could go down to the pub and get a drink together. Remember how good we were together?”
Jimmy’s question made Rose freeze mid-step. She spun around to face Jimmy, his face smug and victorious. “You’re jokin’,” she deadpanned. “You can’t be serious. ‘Good together?’“
“‘Course I am,” Jimmy said with an infuriating shrug, stepping even closer to Rose. This time she didn’t back away, anger planting her to the spot this time, instead of fear.
“We weren’t good together, Jimmy,” Rouse grounded out through clenched teeth. “‘Nd you’re delusional if you think that we were.”
Jimmy just rolled his eyes. “Oh, come on, Rose. It wasn’t all that bad.”
Rose opened her mouth, her face red with indignation, to refute him, but no words came out. She huffed and tried again, all the horrible times they had--every scathing word he’d said, every time he’d gotten drunk and yelled at her, every time he pushed her around or did worse, and the thousands of pounds of debt he left her with--playing on repeat in her head like a bad pop song. It was tuneless, painful, and bound to give her a headache, and she never wanted to think about again.
Seeing as words had failed her, Rose did the next best thing. She slapped him. Hard.
Jimmy’s head whipped to the side, hair falling in front of his face. Just like she had imagined a hundred times before by the time their relationship ended. For a moment, she was euphoric, the feeling slightly overturning the fury. Then she felt the sting of her palm and the desire to hit him again, this time with a fist. And then, when Jimmy lifted his head, Rose was reacquainted with the special kind of fear reserved just for him.
“You bitch,” he snarled, striding forward. Rose jumped backwards as he reached for her, but Jimmy moved quicker and snatched the wrist of the hand that she’d struck him with. Rose glanced over at her shoulder at the TARDIS, only ten meters away. She wondered if she broke Jimmy’s grip, if she’d be fast enough to make it.
A sharp jerk of her arm forced Rose to face Jimmy again. His eyes were livid, a sneer painted on his lips. “I think whatever rich bloke you’ve been warming the bed of has made you forget that you’re just a useless chav whore,” he snarled, leaning into Rose’s space even as she screwed up her face and leaned away.
“Go to hell, Jimmy,” Rose hissed, ignoring the stining in her eyes.
Anger flashed in his eyes, and he lifted his free hand—
“Oi!” A sharp, furious shout came from behind Rose. There was a series of sharp, heavy footsteps on the concrete behind Rose as he approached. Jimmy’s eyes lifted to look at the man behind her, but Rose didn’t turn. She wasn’t sure what she’d find in the Doctor’s eyes.
The Doctor came to stand just behind Rose. “Get your hands off her,” he growled, no doubt staring Jimmy down. After a moment of hesitation, Jimmy released Rose’s wrist, and she immediately stepped back until she could feel the Doctor’s arm brushing up against her back.
“This him, then,” Jimmy asked, giving the Doctor an appraising look. “Bit old for you, no? Or do you not care who you—”
The Doctor cut him off by striding forward, in front of Rose. “I’d be careful about what you say. Never know who might hear you.” The threat was clear in his voice, and while Jimmy was far from the brightest person on the estate, Rose knew he was good at surviving. Jimmy stepped backwards, hands up in surrender.
“Meant nothin’ by it, mate. Rose’s just an old friend; right, Rose?” Jimmy looked at her, those god-awful brown eyes boring into her.
“Go away, Jimmy,” she said, averting her eyes and hating herself for how quiet her voice was.
When Jimmy hesitated, the Doctor glared at him. “You ‘eard ‘er,” he drawled dangerously.
Wisely, Jimmy said nothing, the look in the Doctor’s eyes enough to tell him off. He turned around and headed off with a mumbled farewell in Rose’s direction that was less than genuine.
Rose didn’t wait to see Jimmy scurry across the courtyard before turning around and high-tailing it to the TARDIS. The Doctor caught up to her just as she was opening the doors and stepping inside.
“You wanna tell me what that was about?” he asked as Rose as she tried to escape the console room.
“It was nothing,” she said over her shoulder, not bothering to stop.
“Didn’t look like nothing.”
Rose simply shrugged, hesitating only for a moment, her heart still racing in her chest as she tried to keep her composure in front of him. Sure, they’d been through a lot together, but that didn’t mean he needed to know about Jimmy and the hundreds of stupid things she’d done before they’d met that night in Hendrick’s.
“Well, it was,” was all she offered before disappearing into the depths of the TARDIS.
After Rose dropped her clothes off in her room, she wandered down the TARDIS’s halls, further than she’d ever gone before, to find this strange room of knick knacks and screwed up physics—chairs hung to the walls with no obvious bolts or screws, a chain-linked lamp stood erect in the middle of the floor despite their being no support for it to do so, and the fire in the fireplace seemed to move horizontally, though Rose wasn’t sure about that one. She’d been here ever since, exploring the hidden corners and oddities that were scattered around the room, distracting herself from the memories and shame that were bubbling up from her encounter with Jimmy.
It was the sound of an opening door that let Rose know that the TARDIS wasn’t on her side. Muttering about meddlesome ships and glaring up at the ceiling—decorated with a gaudy shag rug—while listening to the Doctor’s approaching footsteps.
He appeared around the corner of a fallen bookcase—or an upright one, depending on where you stood in the room—and when he caught sight of Rose, he stopped at the end of the bookcase. He placed his hands in the pockets of his jacket, his expression unreadable. When it didn’t seem like he was going to speak first, Rose broke the silence.
“I haven’t seen this room before,” she said, making a show of looking around the room. “Not sure what it’s for, but I like it.” Rose nodded appreciatively, ignoring the growing sense of discomfort.
“Are you gonna stop lying to me now and tell me what really happened today?” The Doctor asked with a raised eyebrow. “Or are we just gonna pretend that everything’s normal?”
Rose raised a hand to her mouth, biting at the nail on her thumb. “Pretend everything is normal?” Rose said with a weak smile, but it came out as a question.
The Doctor leveled her with a look. “C’mon, Rose. Talk to me.” It was a request, not a demand, and the unusually soft expression on his face, his eyes pleading with her to open up, made her want to do just that.
Rose sighed, the tension draining from her shoulders. “His name’s Jimmy,” she stated lamely, realizing belatedly he’d probably heard her call him Jimmy already. “We dated—a long time ago. Before Mickey, obviously. Met him while I was still in school.” She shifted awkwardly on her feet, the words she wanted to stay stuck in her throat. She saw a couple of chairs—an orange armchair and a tall beige ottoman-type thing—over by a tall plant in the corner and walked over, plopping down in the armchair. The Doctor followed her, sitting down on the ottoman. She wrapped her arms around herself, turning to face the Doctor. His striking blue eyes soft, but intense.
“You don’t have to tell me, Rose, if you don’t want to,” he said kindly. “But I want you to know that you can.”
Rose nodded, emotion struggling to strangle her. “I know, I know. ‘Nd I do want to tell you, I just don’t like thinking about it.”
“Then just tell me the basics. Don’t need to go into detail,” the Doctor offered. Rose drew in a breath. The basics—she could do that. She let the breath out and started to talk.
“I met Jimmy when I was 14. He was 18 and the lead singer in the band. He dropped out of school to become a musician with his friends. When I was 15, he asked me out, and we started dating. At first, it was really good. He was kind and sweet, took me on really great dates, but. . . well, it didn’t last.”
Rose sighed and drew her feet up onto the chair to wrap her arms around them, risking a glance over at the Doctor. He nodded at her slightly, encouraging her to continue.
“When I was sixteen, Jimmy said that I should drop out and get a job—told me I was wasting my time with school and all. I believed him and the next thing I know we’re livin’ together in this dank bedsit, working at a corner store, and I’ve stopped talking to mum.” Tears sting Rose’s eyes, but she sniffs and refuses to let them fall. “We had such a big fight that night,” she says, more to herself than to the Doctor.
“It was a couple months after that happened that things started to get bad between us. Jimmy, he’d come home drunk and yelling, and when he had a gig, it’d be worse.” Rose remembered when he’d swan off with some girl, acting like it meant nothing and wasn’t tearing Rose up inside. “It only got worse when money got tight. I started working two jobs, and since I wasn’t around as much, the apartment just got dirtier and dirtier cuz Jimmy wasn’t cleanin’. He was just drinking with his mates and pretendin’ he had any chance at making it as a musician.” Rose scoffed, tears burning her throat and her eyes, remembering how stupid she’d been.
“Did he hit you?” the Doctor asked softly. She turned her head to look at him. Slowly, she nodded.
“Not often,” she whispered. “But. . .sometimes—sometimes he’d just get so angry, and I didn’t know what to do, and whatever I did do seemed to only make him angrier.” Her voice shook, and the tears started to fall from her eyes. Rose buried her head in her arms, crying softly.
She heard as the Doctor stood from the ottoman, and stepped in front of her. Felt his hands as he placed them on her shoulders and kneeled down. Rose looked up from her lap, his face only a few inches away from her own.
“Want me to throw him into a sun?” the Doctor offered. “‘Cause I can think of a couple of good ones—temperature low enough he might feel something before it kills him.” Rose couldn’t help the laugh that burst from her.
“Nah,” she shook her head, a watery smile on her face. “Cuz then he’d say ‘It’s bigger on the inside’ and he doesn’t deserve that.” The Doctor smiled softly, bringing a hand to her cheek. His touch was tender and warm, despite the body temperature difference.
“No, he doesn’t,” he agreed. “But if he ever comes near you again, I’m going to shoot him with my laser eyes.”
Rose snorted. “You don’t have laser eyes.”
“Mickey thought I did.”

WARNING - LONG POST: Case #0191704
Statement of William Smith, regarding his family business
My family runs the Caravan Hutch, over in Barnet, Northwest London. I doubt you’ll have heard of us, we’re not a chain, and even then we’re specialist. We deal, unsurprisingly, with caravans. We buy them off people, clean them up and refurbish them, then sell them, good as new! Almost… People love it in the shop. I think it’s Father’s warm personality. He’s always been charismatic. Whenever I ask him his secrets, he praises the ancestors who began the shop. “We have them to thank”, he would reply.
The shop has been the same since it was started. We have a desk, and three chairs, and diagrams of the various models and prices. The front of the shop has no windows, Father says that’s to allow the customers to be surprised as they step through the door. However there is a sign declaring:
"CARAVAN HUTCH – WHERE WE BUY YOUR CARAVANS
COME ON IN, SELL ALL THE CARAVANS YOU HAVE"
The caravans themselves are stored in a warehouse a mile to the west. We visit them every other day, after work, to make sure everything’s ticking over, and to repair any caravans that need it. John was always good at that. The mechanics work, that is.
Anyway, like I said, it’s a family business, my Father inherited it from his Father, who inherited it from his Father, and so on. It goes back for “as long as there have been caravans to sell”, which isn’t actually that far. Caravans only came to England at the end of the 19th century, but according to my Father we’ve been here hundreds of years. Then again Father does love to tell tall tales. He once remarked that his Father had “the most remarkable teeth I’ve ever worn!” I still don’t know what that means. I never knew my Grandad. He died not long after we were born, which I presume was why Father was sad when me and John were small. We couldn’t fill the hole grandad left when we were that small.
We are twins, both born at the same time. Father was so cross with Mother. He said she had “shamed the family name”. But he never stays cross for long. He told her she could repay him soon enough. I doubt she ever got round to it, though.
A week later, I woke up from a nightmare. I don’t remember most of it, but the image of Father’s face from that dream is forever burned into mine. I was him, but he was… angry. And in pain. His features were contorted almost beyond recognition, but I knew it was my Father. His eyes were completely scrunched, and he looked like he was screaming. I couldn’t hear him though. He was silent. I wasn’t though. I was screaming.
I woke up to see my brother, lying still on his bed at the other end of the room. Looking back, I’m surprised I didn’t wake him up with my crying. Perhaps he was ignoring me. He’d been weird for a while. Quiet, withdrawn. Perhaps that was why he made no move to comfort me as I left my bed to look for our parents.
With the elegance of a small child I crept along the hallway, cursing the old floorboards as I went. I had made it to the top of the stairs when I heard my Father’s voice. He was downstairs, speaking to someone. He sounded angry. Like he was in my dream. But at least his voice was still his own. Once I got to the bottom of the stairs, I waited outside the closed door. Father’s voice was clearer now: “There’s not enough of me left. I haven’t got enough to give them”, he told our… Mother? It must’ve been…
Yes, sorry, it was our Mother. Remarkable, she was. That’s what family friends told us. She disappeared not long after that night. Father told us not to worry, that we’d see her again one day. Though they never did find the body…
I decided not to bother them. Slowly but surely, I snuck back upstairs. If the floorboards weren’t so old and creaky, I could’ve sworn I heard my brother crying. But there was no sound by the time I returned to our room and slid back into bed, trying to push the image of my Father’s pained face from my brain.
Father was a good man, and brought us up well. We had enough to eat, even if it meant he had to go without. He looked so worn sometimes, he had worked for so long to keep John and I healthy. That’s why we were so keen to help him in the shop once we turned 16. We had always known that we would leave school after our GCSEs, and that was fine by me. I never much cared for school, preferring to stay at home and learn the family trade, or just play with my brother. We didn’t really have friends, but we had always had each other, and we always will.
My brother was not the sociable one. He never had been, but it became far more apparent when Father let us begin working in the shop. John never wanted to speak to the customers. He would lurk at the back of the shop, pretending to dust the caravans that I had seen him clean not 2 hours ago. Sometimes this worked, and I would greet the clients, negotiate with them and discuss a fee, as Father had modelled to us both. Other times, he would be made to endure the customers, answering their questions while simultaneously planning an escape route. Poor John. I told Father I was happy to speak to the clients, and John could stay at the back, but Father insisted that John “learn the family ways”.
Eventually John had enough of these demands, and told our Father “no”, that he would not work at the Hutch. While I was aware of his qualms with the job, this took me by surprise, I will have to admit. It was one thing to prefer mechanics work to speaking to people, but to not help the family business at all? I had never known John like this.
We were eating dinner in the kitchen when he announced this. Father ordered John to go to the living room, then told me to go to my room. I wanted to protest that I hadn’t finished my dinner, but the look he gave me as I opened my mouth to say so scared me more than my nightmare had. I left my plate where it was and ran upstairs.
After an hour spent on my phone, curiosity got the better of me. Like I had all those years ago, I snuck downstairs and listened outside the door. Father was speaking. He told my brother that he hadn’t wanted it to happen so soon. But that he had been forced to take measures for the good of the business. Before I could wonder what he meant, I heard someone walk towards the door, someone whose footsteps I did not recognise. I ran back to the stairs as fast as I could, but luckily the footsteps had stopped before the door was open. I raced back to my bed, and my brother came into our bedroom a few minutes later.
I asked him what Father had been saying, what had kept him in there for so long. I left out the part I had overheard, feigning ignorance of the whole conversation. It wasn’t a complete lie. My brother just laughed, and told me not to worry. “The time is not so far away”. He grinned at me, and for the first time I noticed how similar his eyes were to our Mother’s.
The thought scared me. I didn’t ask him about that night again.
After that, John had no trouble dealing with customers at the Hutch. He still worked on the caravans themselves, but no longer complained when it was his turn to man the desk. I almost didn’t recognise him.
Father was thrilled when we told him he could retire. He’d nearly worked himself to death over the years, and I thought it time we let him rest. He could leave, find somewhere to settle down, and let someone else take control. John wasn’t as keen on the idea, but I talked him round. For the good of the business. Father had been worn down. It is time for fresh blood.
We’re making it official on Thursday. There’s a ceremony, I’m told. We will hand over the business, as has been done for generations. I just hope my boys will be up to the task. It is such a tiring job, but little William is oh so eager.

SFTH/TMA crossover anyone? I miss writing, it took two special interests to get me back into it. Definitely not my best work but I did it in a day and I wanted to share it quickly
Might make this a series, where different SFTH play characters give statements to the Magnus Institute
In my mind it's a Stranger statement

I've been making friendship bracelets for MCM London October 2024, I'll be there on the Saturday dressed as Seymour with my Audrey Two puppet from Littls Shop of Horrors. So come say hi for a bracelet!! These are very limited, ive made 30 of them
I'm going to have a very blunt boundary which is I ask that no one touches the puppet without asking. Its the first and only puppet I've made, I have no experience with making them. It's not as strong as it looks (it's also not as heavy as it looks). I probably won't let you hold it and I won't be letting anyone stick their hand inside for some reason simple reasons
1. It was made for my hand, as in the hold cut in the back of my head fits my fingers exactly. Even family can't get their hands in it. I can't risk this joint being damaged in anyway as to repair it I would need to take the puppet apart
2. I sweat a LOT. like a lot. I have anxiety, I will be sweating due to that, I will be sweating due to it being hot inside. The glove will be damp, the back of the head where your actual hand will sit, will probably be pretty wet. The end inside the head is the toe of a sock in polystyrene, basically keeping the heat in. You can be my guest but it will be gross. Even I don't like sticking my hand in there again when I've sweated a lot. Also makes movement with the puppet harder
I'm open for people taking photos and videos with permission. I'm also open to doing funny videos where the plants tries to eat you. BUT I will need to move the puppet around you to limit the puppet getting broken and you getting hurt. The teeth are pretty hard but they will break, they also have wooden cocktail sticks inside them. If someone rams something into its mouth, the teeth will snap. The moment they go, I'll probably have to just carry it and not be able to use it because it can hurt people.
I know I'm being overly wary, but I have had people break cosplays of mine at cons before. My outfit ripped one year because someone grabbed me. I sat in the loos sewing it up to make it through the day. I had another part of my cosplay broken because someone pulled on part of it quite hard. I also had someone say my prop looked good then smashed it against the wall because it looked stronger than it was and they broke it and they didn't expect it to crumble. The puppet will get damaged, I'm not stupid enough to think it won't, either during the day or on transport, but I'd love for it to make it through most of the day so I can have fun with it. I'm incredibly proud of my puppet, its not perfect, but it's mine and the first one I ever made.

More things I think would happen if Jeeves and Wooster were on DS9
Part 1 Part 1.5
It's a bit harder in space than in London for Bertie's relatives and school friends to track him down and beg for favors. Unfortunately, Jeeves’s reputation as a problem-solver has spread around the station, and the problems Bertie's NEW friends bring to him are even more ridiculous.
Week after week: "Help, I got Zanthi fever at the Gratitude Festival and now my fiancée won't speak to me"—"I love a girl from a few star systems over, but on her homeworld unmarried men and women are only allowed to communicate via each other's same-gender parent and her mom hates me"—"Your Uncle Tom wants a rare silver thing but this asshole Ferengi trader won't let him have it" (sometimes his relatives DO visit)
When he doesn’t end up with dubiously legal, stolen, or dangerous alien merchandise smuggled aboard his ship against his will (and also when he does), he keeps managing to stumble coincidentally into the exact combination of words and actions that make up some alien culture's courtship ritual (nobody told him that on Glorgon, pushing somebody into a body of water is considered the first step in a marriage proposal!)
The Gussie/Madeline/Spode love triangle follows him to space, obviously. No matter where he is in the galaxy, fiancé(e)s of the week will come and go, but the Gussie/Madeline/Spode love triangle is a universal constant. There is no galaxy or universe he can escape to where the triangle will not follow.
I feel like this goes without saying, but Gussie is a human scientist stationed on Bajor to study newts native amphibious life forms found in the planet's rivers. He and Bertie still went to school together. Spode is a firebrand Bajoran nationalist politician who had ties to the Circle before their failed coup, but not quite enough for anything to be proved against him.
Bassett Madeline is a Bajoran astronomer who writes poetry on the side and visits the station sometimes to help with research on the wormhole. She’s actually a very qualified scientist, but there’s nothing stopping her from knowing how the stars work AND believing they’re the Prophets’ daisy chain.
Kira really, REALLY wants to like her. She wants to like her so badly. Another highly accomplished religious Bajoran woman is visiting, she should be thrilled! They have so much to talk about! Madeline's fervor toward their shared faith is nothing less than admirable and inspiring and an example to us all, and not at ALL "mawkish" or "a bit much," JULIAN, and no Kira does NOT have a headache, but on second thoughts maybe she should head to the infirmary just in case.
Fortunately, Madeline is usually on the station to work with Jadzia, who regards her mushy tendencies with gentle amusement.
Kira eventually warms to Madeline somewhat when, one day, she (Madeline) visits the station after a fight with Gussie, and Jadzia, taking pity, invites her to play Camelot with her and Kira in the holosuites. Kira has to grit her teeth through the first half, but the three of them end up bonding when something inevitably goes wrong with the safety protocols and they have to fight a real dragon or something. Kira still wouldn't call Madeline her best friend, but she can find it in herself to tolerate the daisy-chain talk with a more bonhomous spirit.
Bertie has no idea any of this is happening, but is just grateful that Jadzia managed to whisk Madeline off to the holosuites before she could try to marry HIM again. He has the Bajoran Rite of Separation memorized by heart and he's running out of bowls.
He also isn't sure what all that was about when Jadzia assured him that she's got this, don't worry about it, you go on and spend some quality time with Jeeves, and then winked at him. Or why this made Jeeves tighten his jaw by the minutest degree and disappear to "supervise repairs," even though Bertie is almost certain there are no repairs left to be done.
It's all a bit rummy, but Jadzia is a dependable sort of cove, and if she says there's nothing to worry about then he trusts there's nothing to worry about. She's a bit like Jeeves in that respect, what? So he shrugs it off and goes to play darts with Julian and Miles instead.
Bertie is obviously a common fixture at the dartboard in Quark's. He also plays tennis with Julian sometimes (Miles being kind of done with tennis after what happened last time). Quark tried to start a betting pool on their games one time, but hit a snag when it turned out that many of the non-human bar customers had trouble telling the competitors apart.
Bertie once sat with Jadzia over a couple drinks as she patiently tried to explain the concept of joined Trill to him (he had been asking about why Sisko calls her "old man"). The discussion ended with Jadzia kindly patting him on the shoulder and inviting him to a game of Dabo.
As it happens, there weren't really any repairs to be done on the ship, but in pretending he was carrying out inspections Jeeves DID discover a hidden device on the warp engine that would have caused everyone on the station to hallucinate their worst enemy's face onto random strangers when the engine was engaged, so the day wasn't a complete wash.
(He kept the device instead of reporting it, naturally. You never know what might come in handy some day. But the plot would have fallen apart anyway, as the aliens who'd planted it suddenly found themselves succumbing to infighting after their first officer received an anonymous message alerting them to the fact that the captain had been planning to short the crew on their pay.)

do you have any recs for scifi/fantasy? they are also my preferred genres, but i'm not fond of the type of scifi and fantasy that often gets recommended :') nothing inherently wrong with booktok, but we do not have the same taste...
yes absolutely SUCH a fun question 4 me ok let me. go thru my storygraph + pick some out...this list may get long...
sci-fi:
infect your friends and loved ones by torrey peters - novella abt a disease that stops humans from naturally producing hormones so that everyone basically becomes "trans." deals heavily w topics of transmisogyny
how to live safely in a science fictional universe by charles yu - time machine repair guy gets stuck in a time loop
the feverwake duology by victoria lee - a post-apocalyptic u.s. has split into various smaller countries. noam, living in carolinia, is the child of refugees who harbors deep resentment towards the government for its treatment of immigrants. a magic disease that kills 95% of the people who get it but grants the survivors super powers leaves noam as the only survivor in his community, and because his power is incredibly rare and potent he's recruited into an elite military school and suddenly forced to work for the government he hates
this is how you lose the time war by max gladstone and amal el-mohtar - this one blew up in the online sphere recently + so has had tons of people talking abt how they love it or hate it but! i really loved it. soldiers on opposite sides of a time war falling in love
severance by ling ma - story about a woman traveling with a group through a post-apocalyptic u.s. in search of a new place to live
the illuminae files trilogy by jay kristoff and amie kaufman - SUCH a fun series!! it has everything zombies parasitic aliens corporate conspiracy...the books are written in the format of files of collected evidence which is fun + funky; the plot essentially follows various characters who get caught in the crossfire when two corporations go to war over a planet. the first book centers on refugees from the planet trying to escape in a spaceship
villains duology by ve schwab - two college roommates crack the secret to getting super powers and team up to give each other powers; they subsequently become lifelong enemies
fantasy:
a history of glitter and blood by hannah moskowitz - in ferrum, fairies live aboveground and gnomes live underground performing the bulk of the city's manual + menial labor, with the tradeoff that every so often the gnomes will eat the fairies. the city has been functioning peacefully this way for years until the tightropers (a species who spin webs from their mouths) arrive under the guise of "fairy liberation." war between the gnomes and the tightropers breaks out and all but 4 teenage fairies flee the city--the story follows those 4 teenage fairies as they navigate the war. one of my absolute favorite books of all time!!
the last unicorn by peter s beagle - a story about a unicorn who inadvertently overhears a conversation about how there are no more unicorns in the world, so she travels out of her forest to find out what happened to all the other unicorns. another one of my favorite books of all time
the shades of magic trilogy by ve schwab - read this back in 2021 so it's no longer super fresh in my mind but i remember thinking it was really fun especially the 2nd book! somewhat standard fantasy series about a second secret london where magic exists and a girl teaming up with a magician to stop an evil threat, etc etc
the gormenghast trilogy by mervyn peake - (you only need to read the first two books tho tbh) very slow paced but gorgeous writing and such a vivid world!! the books follow an earl and his family living in the crumbling castle gormenghast after the birth of his son and heir, titus groan. titus is supposed to grow up and take over as earl, and various forces conspire to either assist or prevent him from doing so
teeth by hannah moskowitz - a teen boy moves with his family to an island purported to have magic fish that can cure any illness. the fish work and his terminally ill younger brother begins to get healthier, but things get complicated when the boy meets a mermaid who's trying to save the fish
howl's moving castle by dianna wynne jones - such a lovely book <3 quite different from the movie so even if you've seen it the story still feels fresh!
gonna cut myself off here but! hopefully there is something in here that u will enjoy :•)

Open For Repairs by @drarrytrash (M, 35k)
After the war, Draco works at a tv repair shop and Harry breaks things. feat. sad boys in jumpers and more ABBA than is probably necessary.
Here's The Pencil, Make It Work by ignatiustrout (M, 49k)
Harry thinks "Why is Malfoy working in a coffee shop in muggle London?" is a much simpler question than, "Are you going to accept that auror offer and, if you don't, what will you do?"
Take the Air by dysonrules (M, 51k)
Someone or something is attacking Muggles and leaving them for dead. Auror Harry Potter is assigned to the case, but with his usual partner unavailable, he is stuck with the most annoying Auror ever to walk the halls of the Ministry.
The Boy Who Only Lived Twice by lettered (E, 54k)
Harry Potter is an Unspeakable. Draco Malfoy is the wizard who shagged him. Adventure! Intrigue! Secret identities, celebrities, spies! It's all right here, folks.
The Darkness Before the Dawn by Ren (E, 55k)
A mysterious creature is loose in London, stalking and killing people. Auror Harry Potter requests the help of a liaison from the Beast Division and gets saddled with Draco Malfoy. Will they be able to stop the creature before it claims more lives?
Modern Love by @tackytigerfic (E, 61k)
Harry Potter, of all people, knows that life isn’t always fair. And no one gets to be happy all of the time. But surely there’s something more—something better—than a rubbish Ministry job, and a lonely old house, and that feeling that everyone out there is doing a better job of living than Harry is.
We Are Young (I'll Carry You Home Tonight) by Femme (E, 68k)
Harry and Draco have been falling into bed on and off again since the last election five years ago, much to the amusement--and financial gain--of their circle of friends.
Timecode by Rasborealis (M, 73k)
Harry Potter has been dead for two years, and Draco would laugh in the face of anyone claiming differently. Well, anyone but Hermione Granger.
Super Rich Kids by @thusspoketrish (E, 81k)
Draco Malfoy has become disillusioned by the glitz and glamour of the scandalous lives of the Post-Second Wizarding War Pureblood Elite. Enter: one existential crisis, one group of thieving cynical friends, and several terrible, terrible decisions.
Criminal by @the-sinking-ship (E, 83k)
Things were going just fine for Draco Malfoy. He successfully conned and counted cards across Europe and America, amassing a small fortune, along with a lengthy rap sheet. That was until he made the grave mistake of returning to England for a high stakes card game and got himself caught – by Harry Potter no less.
I Am Not Who I Became by mab_di (E, 93k)
Draco left England after the trials and has travelled the world meeting wizards and Muggles from different cultures and with vastly different relationships to magic, each other, and the natural world.
A Case of You by @epitomereally (E, 97k)
Draco was doing just fine working as an Unspeakable in Paris, hanging out with his living and ghostly pals, inventing new spells, and definitely not thinking about Potter. Then, Lucius just had to break out of prison and turn his world upside down.
Who we are in the shadows by @quicksilvermaid (E, 99k)
What happens when you’re forced to become the very thing you despise? Ex-Auror Harry Potter, tossed out of the Ministry for something he had no control over, has been looking for a way back to his former life.
Chasing Dragons by @the-sinking-ship (E, 99k)
Draco can think of only one way to outclass his pleat-front-khaki-wearing politician ex, and that’s by making headlines with an obvious upgrade. And who better to upstage the cheating bastard than the Saviour of the World, Harry Potter himself?
All Missing Things (Can Be Found) by daisymondays (E, 100k)
After a drunken hook up ends badly, Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy have no intention of ever speaking again -- but when they're assigned to solve a case of young child disappearances, they have to put their past behind them.
In the Bleak Midwinter by @the-fools-errand (E, 105k) - Peaky Blinders AU

A Sword Laid Aside by @korlaena (E, 128k)
When Draco’s cover is blown during a deep undercover operation and the Ministry is compromised, Ron takes Draco to the only safe place he can think of—Potter.
Tales From the Special Branch by Femme (E, WIP)
When Gawain Robards asks him to form Special Branch seven-four-alpha, Harry Potter knows they'll have to work outside the confines of the law--even though they are the law.

"Are you sure? About me, that is... about us?"
“I’ve actually never been so assured in life about, well, anything, as I have about us.”
The youngest son, centre of a poor family, best friend to smartest girl in school and The Boy Who Lived, had spent much of his life in the background, unsure of who he was, and his actions. Ron often boasted his opinions on things loudly, but deep down he was someone looking for assurance and confirmation that whatever the fuck he was doing was the right thing to do. The best thing, the correct thing.
Hermione was the best thing, and as he just said, the one decision in his life that hadn’t been more crystal clear. This was exactly what he was supposed to do.
Their path had been a wobbly one. He still felt a little bit of shame about their beginnings, even though he had been young child, how he’d been harsh on a girl who, really, had just been trying to find her place in an unfamiliar world. How he’d made fuss at the Yule Ball out of jealousy, how he’d unexpectedly turned his eyes to Lavender Brown and left her behind. You could say that Ron had a lot to make up for. This was him trying.
They were in London. It had taken them a few months to get here. Post-war, there was a lot of damage to repair, and a lot of wounds to heal. Ron himself was a grieving son, having lost his older brother, Fred. This was still something he was coming to terms with, something that still didn’t quite make sense, and something that he would probably never quite get over. But each day, things came easier. Hermione herself had been away for sometime in Australia, bringing her parents back and restoring their lives to normalcy. She was recovering from her experience in the Manor. There was a lot of ruin, both mentally and physically, but people were working through it.
They were sat outside a small cafe at a tiny, circular table, an umbrella over their heads shadowing them from the sun. She had been teaching him about all the different types of coffee that muggles drank. A cappuccino one was called, another one called moochy or something. Oh! And a flat white, he remembered that one. Was there a thick white also? He thought it all tasted the same. He would have to take note of these to tell his father later on.
It was the end of august, and the city air was a little stale. This was where she’d growth up, in a rather well-to-do part of London. Hermione’s parents were dentists, muggle teeth doctors, and he had since learned that meant they were quite well-off. Having grown up in the countryside with fresh, clean air, he wasn’t so sure if he liked it here yet or not. They sat opposite one another, her hands linked neatly on the table. He had on of his over them, rubbing his thumb over her pale and delicate skin softly in a slow rhythm.
She was looking at him apprehensively. The wound on her forearm healing, looking better than it did, but still fresh to the eyes. He tried not to stare. He didn’t like thinking about that day. Her screams… that was the one part of the war that stuck with him more than anything else. How helpless he had been, trapped and unable to help. His eyes were cast on her, nodding slowly.
“This… it makes sense.” He continued, his voice gentle, his smile warm. “We’ve gone through far too much together for it to not… if we can handle all the stuff we did together, horcruxes, dragons, all that crap, normal, boring couple problems?… well, that’ll be a walk in the park…” He chuckled, seeing her face twist up into a delicate smile.
“We’ve always been just around the corner for one another. I don’t want that to change.” He leaned back in the slightly uncomfortable seat, though his hand remained where he was. “… Besides. I know you’ll keep me in check.” His smile became a grin, watching the way she teasingly rolled her eyes at him.
“I’ve made a lot of stupid decisions in my life, Hermione.” He continued, admiring her beauty for a moment, “This isn’t one of those. I care far too deeply for you to just… abandon us like that. I won’t mess it up this time. I swear it.” Then he leaned in, giving her a little wink, “Anyway, don’t think I forgot about this…” He pulled at his jumper, revealing a small hickey on his neck. From the night in the pub when everyone had been celebrating the end of the war, and they had drunkenly found each other’s company against the wall outside. “… I quite enjoyed that. To many more of these, I say.”
