Teen Wolf Movie: Post Credits Scene

Obviously the below is not a real post credits scene... just me needing to air my frustration somehow. I did not watch the Teen Wolf movie, and now have no intention to. I got all my information from seeking out spoilers online so I'd know if it was worth the watch. Felt the need to write this because my soul hurts. Apologies if I got some minor details wrong from the movie, but I'm not fussed about being canon compliant when the canon doesn't deserve to be complied with ;)

Eli is woken from a fitful sleep by the sound of his bedroom window sliding open. He doesn’t turn his head to identify the intruder, completely uncaring if they are there to hurt him or console him. It wouldn’t matter. Not anymore.

He wonders briefly if Scott or Allison would be able to make it to his room before he was fatally injured by the potential assailant, then closes his eyes in defeat when he remembers they’re not home. They’re never home anymore.

“Hey, pup.”

Eli shoots into a sitting position at the sound of Stiles’ voice. He catches a flash of a red hoodie and finds himself all but collapsing into the arms suddenly surrounding him. The sounds he is making aren’t human and his breath is coming in rough spurts, but he finally, for the first time since his dad’s death, feels completely safe in Stiles’ embrace. Safe enough to fall apart.

Stiles offers no empty words of comfort or platitudes, simply holds the boy in his arms. Once Eli regains his breath, Stiles pulls back just enough to see Eli’s face and speaks again.

“I’m so sorry you had to see that,” he says, brushing some hair off of Eli’s forehead so he can see his eyes.

Eli sniffles and wipes the tears off his face.

“He’s gone, Stiles,” he whispers hoarsely.

Stiles pulls them to their feet and wraps his arms around Eli’s shoulders. They take comfort in the embrace for several more minutes. Eli’s eyes water, but no more tears fall.

“Eli, buddy, look at me,” Stiles says as he takes a step back, towards the open bedroom door. He waits until Eli looks up before continuing. “Do you trust me?”

The boy can only nod, not trusting his voice.

Stiles sends him a rueful smile and holds out his hand. He leads Eli downstairs and out the door, huffing a laugh when he sees the Jeep parked in the driveway.

“How’s Roscoe doing these days?” Stiles asks as he runs his hand over the hood.

Eli clears his throat twice before he can answer. “Okay. Da - Dad fixed as much as he could.”

He sees a brief look of devastation overtake Stiles’ face before they climb in, but it’s gone as Stiles holds out his hand for the keys. Stiles frowns when Eli simply points to the visor above the driver’s seat, and sends him a well-deserved eye roll when the keys drop into his lap from above when he opens it.

They drive in silence until they reach their destination. It only takes Eli a few minutes to realize where they’re headed, but he says nothing. Stiles asked for his trust, and he has it. He’s always had it.

When they park, Eli exits the car on shaky feet. He can’t bring himself to look up and see his dad’s grave only a few yards away.

“Why are we here?” He asks quietly.

Stiles braces himself, taking several deep breaths before responding. “There’s something I didn’t tell you or your dad before I left after my last visit. I,” he pauses and take a few steps towards Derek’s grave. “I had a - a feeling.”

Eli moves to stand next to Stiles, still not looking at the grave. “A feeling?”

Stiles sniffles and Eli realizes he’s trying not to cry. Stiles coughs roughly and wipes at his face, turning it so Eli can’t see the tears.

“A feeling,” he repeats. “Like I might never see him again.”

The silence hangs heavy between them for several minutes until Stiles sees Eli shiver in the cool night air.

“Only wolf I know who gets cold,” he says fondly, removing his hoodie and wrapping it around the boy. Eli takes it gratefully and sends Stiles a cautious smile. Stiles musses his hair and then nods towards Derek’s grave. “Ready?”

Eli frowns. “Ready? Ready for what?”

Stiles doesn’t answer right away, but Eli follows him readily. They pause in front of the plot and Stiles can’t help but shake his head. After everything Derek gave to the pack, they couldn’t even be bothered to give him a proper grave site. Just a plot of dirt with some wilted flowers and withered ribbons.

“I’ve spent the last year working on this,” Stiles says, pulling a small sealed jar out of his pocket. He opens it and holds it up for Eli to smell.

Eli’s head rears back in shock at the scent. “That - that smells like Dad. How did you do that?”

Stiles snorts. “Not easily.” He holds the jar under his nose and smiles as he takes in the earthy, homey aroma. “Drove me crazy for about three months when I was so close, but knew I was missing something. You know what it was?”

Eli shakes his head, leaning forward to inhale the scent again.

“Cinnamon,” Stiles says, still smiling.

“From those ‘frilly little coffee drinks’ he used to love but pretended to hate,” Eli finishes, smiling himself. “What does it do?”

Stiles sobers and takes another slow, deep breath. “When I got back to D.C., I could’t shake that feeling. Anytime I checked in with him, he’d insist he was fine and the pack was doing well. He just kept telling me not to worry. But you know me,” he flung out his arm, gesturing to himself.

“Stiles,” Eli says, stepping forward into the man’s space, his expression serious. “What does it do?”

Stiles looks down at the jar in his hand and his breathing seems to stop.

“You trust me?” Stiles asks again.

“Yes,” Eli replies quietly.

“It’s going to bring him back to us.”

As if he can’t bear to see Eli’s reaction, Stiles turns suddenly and upends the jar, sending its contents spilling onto the disturbed earth below. The words he whispers to the dirt are lost in the sudden gust of wind, but the fervor with which they are spoken causes Eli to shiver and jump to action.

“What can I do?” He asks once Stiles is finished chanting.

Stiles pulls out a pocket knife and hands it to him. “We only need a few drops.”

Eli nods seriously and steels himself before cutting a small incision into his left palm. He holds out the hand and allows Stiles to direct the stream of blood over the grave.

Stiles takes a second to grip Eli’s shoulder before giving himself an identical cut and letting the blood spill on top of Eli’s.

They both step back to the foot of the grave, completely silent. The wind continues to howl. The sound grows louder and louder until suddenly it turns into an entirely different kind of howl. One they both recognize immediately.

“It’s Dad,” Eli says in amazement. “Does that mean it worked? Stiles, did that just work?”

Stiles doesn’t dare speak, just closes his eyes and allows himself to become lost in the howling. Howling he thought he’d never hear again. The pressure of unshed tears causes him to open his eyes just as the ground at their feet starts to move.

“Oh my god,” Eli shouts, running two steps forward just as a hand breaks free from the earth.

He grabs the hand and begins to pull frantically. Stiles gets over his shock and disbelief quickly enough to join Eli as he starts to dig at the ground around the hand.

Seconds later, Derek is free. And alive.

His eyes glow crimson and he lets out a roar that can be heard for miles around. He is panting as he stands to full height and looks around to orient himself.

Derek barely has time to realize his son is nearby before he finds himself with his arms full. Eli is shaking with the effort of his iron-clad grip, but no force on this Earth could get him to let go of his dad.

“Eli,” Derek says, returning the embrace just as fiercely. “Eli, I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry.”

They whisper reassurances and apologies to each other for what feels like hours. Their eyes are closed and their knuckles white from the force of their grasps.

Derek suddenly gets a lungful of a scent he wasn’t expecting, and realizes Eli is wearing Stiles’ hoodie. His eyes fly open and begin searching the clearing frantically.

He sees Stiles standing several steps away, tears flowing down his face and his body trembling.

“Stiles,” Derek whines, opening one of his arms and beckoning for him desperately.

It was all Stiles needed before running to join the embrace, the three of them all opening crying in the moment. His arms wrap tightly around both Hales as they all regain their breath and their equilibrium.

Eli pulls away first, rubbing at his face and clearing it of tears. He takes a step back but keeps his hand on his dad’s arm, not wanting to break contact. Derek sends him a warm smile and shakes his head at himself in disbelief that he’s alive.

“Derek,” Stiles whispers, adjusting his grip on the man.

Derek’s still-red eyes turn to meet Stiles’, and everything is understood in an instant without a need for words. He leans into Stiles’ space and presses their foreheads together. They stay like that, perfectly content, until Eli breaks the silence.

“Okay, I know you guys are, like, having a moment,” he laughs as he ducks both Stiles and Derek’s attempts to swat him in the back of the head. “But I’m not getting any warmer. Any chance we can move this reunion indoors?”

Stiles rolls his eyes but can’t contain his grin. He groans and pulls away with one final squeeze of Derek’s hand. A silent promise they would pick this up later.

“Are you sure you’re a werewolf?” Stiles goads Eli as he messes up the boys hair.

“He’s got a point, Eli,” Derek intones, rounding the two so he and Stiles are bracketing Eli on their walk back to the car. “Maybe a were-lion? Something less acclimated to colder weather.”

Eli whines, looking back and forth between the two in mock-outrage. “Stiles, I thought we had a deal. We’re supposed to gang up on him,” he says indignantly, pointing his thumb at his dad. “Not on me!”

Stiles nudges Eli with his shoulder. “You’re right, pup, a deal’s a deal. I think we can give your dad a pass though just this one night.”

Eli smiles softly. He reaches out and grabs his dad’s hand in a way he hasn’t since he was small. “I guess so.”

Derek and Stiles share a grin over Eli’s head.

“So,” Stiles says cheerily to Eli as they reach the Jeep. “What do you say we go grab Grandpa and get the hell out of this town once and for all?”

Ok, so it's been a minute since the Teen Wolf movie came out and I finally have the perspective to think about how I would turn it into a canon-compliant and resource-consistent movie rewrite.

If I’m limited to the actors that signed on and the general plot beats of Allison coming back to life, getting the band back together, using the nemeton in some way, Harris and Eli hale. Here is how I would have done it: (please note I have hindsight and no writing ability and even though I mention Monroe a lot she will not actually need to be on screen to comply with not having her actor in the movie)

We kick off not in Japan, not with Scott, none of that.

Beacon Hills is now a supernatural open town in a county that has spent years dealing with the result of an active nemeton. We imply changes through cut shots, like mystic shops and familiar names on fliers. We use the whole county for the surrounding areas to show off these Suttle changes to known locations. Pictures of the original cast in the trophy cases at the high school, the McCall clinic on an open shot of what was once Deaton’s vet office, Mason and Parrish getting into a squad car outside the station. Hale Mechanics and audio body store (more like an AutoZone vibe to cement it more into the community). Kids getting out of class or practice doing a casual backflip down the stairs and another kid pushing them for “showing off” the jeep driving fast down the main street.

We can have a voice-over explaining the main antagonist of the series, the hunters, and how BH though not completely open has accepted supernaturals in a low-number situation as Monroe spent years building up her militia. They did exactly what the show told us they would do, they followed the beacon to the town and found someplace safe. Monroe and the hunters after the death of the final big bad in season 6 and prolonged investment from the BH pack that we see in the time skip of the last episode, were basically reduced to code breakers and young hunters in the last few years. Everyone we know grew up and used their connections to take them down.

We cut to a flashback of a mass arrest of hunters with a joint sheriff’s department and FBI takedown (this is an illusion to Stiles who will not be in the film because we are sticking to actors who signed on to return)

Then we go back to the present day where we get a bit of a where are they now, how everyone settled into new roles, This is shown to us through little Vignette not just told to us but again I'm not a writer I'm going to sum up. We see Christ and Melissa splitting up as he went back to France to work on further cleaning up and spreading new hunter ideology “we protect those who can’t protect themselves”, Jackson working with other packs internationally to network safety and protection plans and help relocate supernatural after hunter problems (illusions to his comfy life with Ethan and happy overseas), mason and Liam staying intown starting their own careers (Liam opening a dinner and working with a new supernatural who came to town in the years – our new kitsune), Malia returning and working for Derek after spending time overseas and wanted to build a home in the one place she felt human, Lydia starting her own tech company with another illusion to Stiles traveling for FBI work, showing that he is not around a lot but they are, if not still together, still in each other’s lives, Scott setting up his animal clinic and rescue along with our new friends, a couple of werewolves (the two we saw in the opening along with some background people we only need for the scene) that come in and out of the town that Scott takes in, some stay, some move on, but all of them are still pack (that's the vibe we are going for), this would also go to explain that people like Hayden left and Cory might be out of town right now but are still around. This would also help explain our new kitsune as well as an introduction to characters that could connect to Eli. (it’s a movie let’s make the world feel bigger) Eli should be about a year younger or so and we don’t have to explain his parentage but can emphasize that his mother might have been one of those strays affected by either Kate or the Argents or a different hunter group, maybe someone Derek met between 4-6 instead of in the middle of 3a-3b.

We go to the nemeton when Scott or Derek is talking to Deaton or the sheriff about how things have settled and stabilized (this could be like the scene with the fire and how Eli has stolen the jeep again or Scott has just done an animal rescue and is talking to Deaton post) and we see a hooded figure doing some kind of sacrificial ritual at the roots of the stump - we see a girl in the dirt - we see her eyes - Its Allison.

Then we can cut to a similar scene of Argent coming back into town, a little time has passed we get a few scenes of Eli trying to fit in with the other high school kids and not doing great, the sheriff running things around town. We did all the set-up scenes and character introductions in the first third/half with the cutaways to something happening in the background. we have little hints that things have been going wrong or strange, a call from Isaac (not seen) to Chris about Allison, rumors Jackson is hearing about an Argent heir, the sheriff talking to Derek about Stiles comes up in a conversation about how it has been weirdly quiet, Lydia drawing or seeing something weird or arrow related, etc.

The movie is now about finally ending the thing that started this all, hunter involvement, and the main issue is a confused Allison who doesn’t have her memories and was convinced by someone that the BH pack is the enemy and must be destroyed. We watch as the rest of the pack come together to figure out - if she’s back - how she’s back - who brought her back, it's calling back to early seasons 1 and 2 'who done it' with a few twists when we find out Monroe is dead but was dabbling in something weird – this can be what Peter is here for.

We get Chris reuniting with everyone and talking to Scott and Deaton about Allison, with illusions to Isaac still in France. We get Jackson back with more of a reason for being there with the noise he has been hearing as a legitimate reason to think hunters are moving again and the lost argent heir that brings him home. We get Peter being the best and a group of kids, Eli plus some of the other strays we saw in the beginning of the movie, being dragged into a war they all thought was long behind them if they were aware of it at all. (those be our New Teen Wolves) Derek is still a dad, but his kid isn’t scared of being a werewolf or shifting but more embarrassed he can’t shift because there are other slightly older, cooler supers in his life (2) and he can’t talk to his dad, the full shifter, about his problems so he is acting out.

we can still have the group trying to find the nemeton again and we can still have interpersonal relationships, but we make the focus simpler and more human. We get Allison relearning who she is and who she was to all these different people while also setting up a new mystery for these new young wolves that their parents are trying to keep them away from. Allison relearning herself is slower and intercut with everyone not just Scott. The twist being that it really is kinda over, at least with Monroe, but that it's never really over. That Harris was brought back as a test drive for Allison and instead used her to get his own revenge, and then we can end on that ominous plug for a new show that they were pushing.

Idk this is all I’ve really got, I’m not a writer, but can you see it?!

I know it’s a little fanficy but 1 that’s what I’m doing and 2 so was the movie, OMG was it the most fanfic trope thing I’ve ever seen.

I feel like it's something. It will never happen and hindsight is 20/20, we can’t play what-ifs. But if I could, I would have made this movie instead of what we got.

Monroe’s last stand, bringing back people from the dead and manipulating them to do her work for her only for it to blow up in her face with Harris and Allison. The real end to the Argents as hunters with Allison coming back and fully embracing the new Beacon Hills and Scott. Relearning what the show was kind of trying to teach us even if it was doing a super poor job most of the time.

Tell me I’m crazy, I want to hear your thoughts.

I know this is nuts, but I had to write this out and send it into the void before it ate me up inside.

For those that don't know me, my name's Lou (she/her) and I have recently gotten back into revamping the numerous fic projects I had in my vaults and trying to get back into my writing again.

I have put out this post to say that if anyone is also in a similar situation with their own fics, I am offering my fellow fic writers to beta & alpha read fics in exchange for coming on as an alpha or beta reader for my own projects.

As a beta & alpha reader, I am willing to not only check for grammar, punctuation, spelling and formatting but also:

identify weaknesses in the plot.

identify pieces in the story where engagement was high or lacking.

identify points in the story where clarity is needed.

help develop characters (both oc & canon)

canon check pieces of information (for canonverse/compliant fics)

As a writer, I am looking for someone to help with:

Most importantly, I am looking for people who can approach my story as both a reader passionate about the fic and a writer/editor passionate about helping improve the story.

My projects are also multi-chapter (150,000) and usually part of a wider series (minimum of 3 parts) ; therefore, I am open to working on fic projects that are of equal length!

Modern AUs, Human AUs, No Power AUs.

No Comfort, No Happy Ending, Major Character (Permanent) Death.

Character bashing (I do read fics that bash, but I find it hard to beta for them only because I like to discuss characters objectively - but there are exceptions, so feel free to check)

Anything that attempts to glorify or justify racism, homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, xenophobia, ableism, sexism, bigotry, abuse, r*pe or anything even remotely similar.

(feel free to check with me tho, I am open to discussion of everything except the bottom dot point)

Because I believe beta reading to be an experience that should be enjoyable and insightful for both the reader and writer, I am open to :

Discussing any ships, character arcs, or plot points that my betas personally wanted to see in the show or are very passionate about (read: this does not mean I will change my entire story but that I am open to possibilities)

Analysing and critiquing any of the above media (read: NOT BASHING, but genuine analysis of how different media were handled to apply to our own form of writing)

Giving out and receiving fic, tv, movie and book recs to aid in inspiring each other during the course of our writing, but also to support our fellow writing community!

Look, I know I never really went to Mass or anything like a good Polish kid but could you do me a big one and have this whole thing be entirely Not related to the supernatural - hell, it could be super cartel related but no shapeshifters, or chaos spirits, or fear monsters, or deranged Hunters, or fucking human sacrifices of any kind. It's 2027 - a decade since Stiles was last in Beacon Hills - and the FBI has sent Stiles back to investigate a smuggling case.

In which I attempt to write the kind of story I want to read. A future Sterek fic that: 1) is in character, 2) doesn't bash any characters, 3) fixes Davis' timeline, 4) doesn't have sex, 5) has some character interactions that don't just revolve around Sterek/Stiles/Derek, and 6) addresses Derek and Stiles' unique traumas.
