@wilddwcrds teddy x delilah - animal enclosure idk where they're all kept LOL
Teddy scoops handfuls of food, scattering it for the animals, her fingers brushing against coarse fur, warm feathers, and damp noses. In her head, there's a gentle hum of animal thoughts weaving in with her own. "Easy." she murmurs, sending a calm message to the excitable young llama shuffling up beside her. "Since when have I ever not fed you?" a quiet snort in response, his head nudging against her arm, almost sheepish. She chuckles and tosses a handful of feed his way.
Her focus breaks at the sound of footsteps crunching in the gravel behind her. She glances up, spotting Delilah approaching. "Oh! Lilah, hey." Teddy calls out, her eyes lighting up as she sets down the bucket without a second thought. "This is gonna sound really weird, but you gotta bear with me." she doesn't waste a second, taking Delilah's hand and leading her across the enclosure toward a small monkey perched on a branch, her little eyes darting with a curious gleam.
"This is Moxie." Teddy explains, smiling as she watches the little creature tilt her head, inspecting Delilah with lively, intelligent eyes. "She was with Jack and saw you and Debbie's show." she gestures, to Delilah. "She was really...well, she seemed to love it and..." this is the part that makes Teddy grin already. "Basically, she wants to float. That's what we ended up working out. Do you think you can do that?" her smile widens. "Well, I know you can do it but I mean, do you want to...make a monkey's day?"

In this moment, Teddy doesn't think she's ever trusted Nolan as much as she does right now. The one thing stabling through the chaos. She feels his arm come around her, protective and tense, pulling her against him as the impact of shattered glass rains down, slicing through the air. Teddy flinches, eyes shutting tight as she raises a trembling hand to shield her face, her shoulders stinging with the sudden slice of a shard. "Fuck!" she gasps, a raw sound of both pain and fear. But her gaze quickly darts to Nolan, catching the blooded line on his cheek.
She opens her mouth to say something, anything, but as masked figures pool into the street, Teddy's caught in a moment of confusion and terror. "Who even are..." they're locked in a second of hesitation as the figures blend into the chaos of the crowd but that single second of hesitation is ripped away as gunfire starts. The crowd's screams merge into one overwhelming wave, Teddy frozen before Nolan's grip tightens and he yanks her back with such a force that it nearly knocks her breath out.
When he pushes her into the broken storefront, the crunch of glass underfoot sends another shiver of fear through her. "Nolan..." Teddy's words are cut off as her gaze lands on the bodies strewn across the floor, blood mixing with dust and glass shards. For a moment, her mind blanks, caught in the brutal reality sprawled in front of her. But then Nolan steps in front of her, blocking her view, his hands firm on her shoulders, his voice cutting through the chaos like a lifeline. Her gaze fixes on him, her focus reeling as she nods. "Right, yeah. Okay, keep moving." the words barely escape her as he's guiding her again as they rush for the stairs.
Each step feels like it pulls her deeper into a relentless nightmare, but she clings to Nolan's hand, fingers wrapped so tight she can feel his pulse beneath his skin. They climb higher, but even as they rise, the chaos beyond the store doesn't quiet. Every scream, every burst of gunfire seems to reach up to them, clawing at her nerves, setting her teeth on edge. When they reach the next level, Teddy scans the space desperately, searching for anything that leads to the roof. There's no sign of a fire escape ladder, no hatch, no clear path up.
"Fuck." she breathes, voice barely audible as her fingers tighten around his. She tugs him into a nearby room, her grip slipping free only when she rushes to a set of doors, throwing them open with a hope that feels thinner with every second. The fire escape outside is barely hanging on, the metal warped and rusted, the first few steps crumbling, more of a hazard than an escape. Her gaze flicks to Nolan, catching his eyes as she runs a hand over her face, pausing when she notices the blood smeared across her palm.
She lets her hand fall back to her side, swallowing down the rising panic. "I think your legs are long enough to skip the first steps." she mutters, a shaky grin shot at him. "Maybe you can make it across and pull me over?" she offers, her voice a mix of urgency and doubt, fully aware they're running out of time. And then the sound of footsteps echo from the floor below, too fast and too many to be anything friendly. Looters, masked figures, she can't tell, but the threat feels too close. "Go, quick. We can do it." Teddy urges, shoving at Nolan's arm in a rush, to get them moving.
Nolan wishes they could stop so that Teddy could catch her breath from the shock of what's happened. But they can't, and so he continues to pull her along, holding her upright as they trek through the treacherous streets. "I don't know! We just gotta get outta," he gestures wildly as they run, doing his best not to outpace her but maintain the sense of urgency. The very real fire at their back urging them on. He nods at the suggestion of back streets, already pivoting them towards what he thinks might be a path when another explosion rocks the ground they stand on and he tightens his grip on Teddy, hunching over her protectively as glass shatters from a nearby window, shards flying in every direction. He squeezes his eyes shut, wincing at the cuts that slice at his cheek. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
"That's in the other direction!" he shouts over the discordant noise surrounding them. "You're right about the back streets, they're our best–" bet. Words cut off as masked figures emerge and Nolan swears, already tugging Teddy back cautiously "We need to get off the streets, Teds." It doesn't matter where but his only focus is on getting them both out of this mess. They can find people later. There's a tense moment, when the figures stand still, having pooled into the crowd. The seconds feel like a string, pulled taut before it snaps and everything speeds up when they begin firing into the crowds and the screaming starts.
He doesn't think, he just does. Nolan tightens his grip on Teddy's arm, practically hauling her back. "We gotta go up!" He yells, trying to think quickly as he shoves her into a blown out storefront, the door hanging off the hinges, glass crunching beneath them. There are bodies on the floor, unmoving and bloodied, covered in debris. Nolan spins around, trying to see any sign of life before his gaze falls on Teddy. Her gaze on them. "Teddy. C'mon, look," he moves to stand in front of her, two bloody hands on her shoulder to draw her focus. "We have to keep moving." Nolan's voice contrasts the chaos outside as he tries to reach through the fog to Teddy. Which he hopes is enough incentive to get her moving again, his heart pounding as he takes her hand, already pulling her into the store, towards the stairs he sees leading up to a second floor. "The roofs, Teds – best bet." He explains as they begin to climb, his heart seeming to beat in time with each rushed step.

The fireworks were pretty and all, but I think my eardrums have burst. If you talk to me in the next few days or so, you'll have to shout.
This might be a sign that I'm getting old.

Teddy doesn't need to say anything, she knows her face can say it all for her. Her annoyed glare, sharp and unwavering even makes her feel like her mother as her hands snap to her hips while Milo clearly fights for his life. "Good." is all she remarks, hoping she's his worst nightmare right now. But when she stomps over to her workstation, catching the way Milo anticipates being hit with the screwdriver, Teddy's lips flicker with a smirk. One she isn't shy of showing as she arches a brow to him. "Yeah, that's what I thought." she mutters smugly to herself, still with no intention of actually harming him with a throw.
But, even Teddy has to admit that Milo knows his stuff. It's practically in his blood and she huffs a thoughtful sigh. Her elbow plonks to her work station, chin in her palm as she zones out for a moment, trying to whirl through the catalog of her recent work. "I mean...Milo, it all just blurs into one." she admits, sitting back in her seat with a defeated shrug, the screwdriver once again rising up in her hold like she could throw it any second. "Switch...switch." Teddy repeats under her breath, still thinking until she notices Milo gesture to the bathroom.
She holds his gaze for a moment, an unimpressed look on her face. "Milo, everyone knows that was you." she comments before her hand, once again wielding the screwdriver, waves to hush him. "Look, listen. The shadier than usual guy wanted me to add like a...relay chip in about four comms. I figured that was just a signal relay...but it could be toggled, right? From regular use to connecting to something?" she shrugs, but even with this information she's looking to Milo with a clueless shrug. "But, now what? I have no way of tracing anything back to him." Teddy says, her expression dropping. "If you tell my mom, I'll never forgive you. Do you know how stressed she'll be!? Wait, does Santiago know?"
"Actually, that happens a lot. It's kinda...a big part of the job. Just so you...know." Milo shrugs weakly, his words trialing while knowing this input isn't helpful. Especially as Teddy shoots him daggers sharper than any thermal knife. For some reason, she seems just as annoyed to learn the news, confusing Milo further as he flaps his arms out with exasperation. "You asked me! Why are you mad at me right now?" he hisses, more concerned than annoyed. "You're a messenger's worst nightmare you know that?" he adds, an involuntary flinch jolting his body as Teddy picks up the screwdriver. Milo's arms fling up to shield himself from something that never comes, leaving him to flop them to his side and maintain a casual stance.
"No, come on. Not every day comms, Teds. They would've been entry level kinda tech, like used to...control something else." but he isn't sure what, only that if both smugglers and Vanguards wanted their hands on it, it would be pretty sophisticated tech. And, he trusts Teddy would've noticed this if she had tinkered with anything out of the ordinary. Milo whirs through his own knowledge, scratching the back of his head. "Look, did this guy ask for something to do with comms? Maybe changing around the signal transmitter or something? Anything that made the comms like a...switch?" he hopes to jog her memory before Teddy's demand makes his head shake, quickly. "Nuh-uh. I'm not lying to your mom. No way. Fuck that. She knew I lied when I said it wasn't me that-" he points to the Prescott bathroom, realizing he's about to out himself and the gigantic turd that caused an almighty blockage. Milo stops, looking back to Teddy. "She just knows. So, no. Not doing it."

@dxrkenedheights teddy x charlie - jan 20th town hall
-
As the supply runs loom, Teddy feels the familiar urge to contribute beyond the usual town routine. To chase some kind of adventure, and live with a little more excitement. With confidence in her stride, she strolls into the town hall, swiftly scribbling her name onto the volunteer list. A smirk plays on her lips as she sizes up her name among the trusted regulars. It looks good there, she thinks. Yeah, Teddy Prescott is just as capable of a name. And she hopes Levi, Roman, and Dominic remain blissfully useless at their jobs and don't discard her from the upcoming runs.
Yet, her upbeat mood takes a nosedive when she spots her mother as she turns away from the clipboard. A scoff escapes her, shoulders slumping at the unexpected encounter. "Oh my God, are you serious? Are you, like, everywhere!?" Teddy exclaims, fairly certain she had last seen her mother heading off to the stables and yet now she's teleported here. She flails, caught red-handed but then jutting her chin into the air with pride. "Okay, you know what? I'm…not even sorry. I'm gonna go, and guess what? I'm not a teenager, so you can't even say no. So. That's where we're at."

@ofwrxth teddy x mason - equinox club idk
"I think we're idiots." Teddy decides, shooting the comment over her shoulder to Mason, lifting her voice to be heard. Trusting Pinky and Perky is now dawning on her that the tiny little pills they paid for might be duds. Because she feels nothing. Not that she minds, really. This isn't particularly Teddy's idea of fun, but she also doesn't say no to new experiences. I'll try anything once, twice just to make sure. She gives Mason a defeated and also careless shrug. "Oh well, at least this place looks cool. Kind of don't need anything else." she adds, glancing through the realistic light displays cast over the dancing crowd. A little wave of her hand gestures Mason to follow. "My round first? May as well get drunk, right?" she laughs. All the while, Teddy thinks the flutter in her stomach is just the normal excitement she feels when she gets to be on Equinox for a night out even if the feeling is steadily growing by the second. "Did anyone else say they could make it?"

"I might have learned from the best. Ever think of that?" Teddy teases, a playful glint in her eye as she glances over at Baby, the bear sniffing the air with obvious interest. "Well, she's the only one with any real sense around here." Teddy adds with a chuckle, noting how Baby's ears perk at the mention of a treat. "Oh, she knows that word. She just doesn't have a concept of time. So…" Teddy's brows rise, waving a quick gesture to Charlie and then the window. "She wants one, like, right now." laughter spills from her as she moves to the other side of the counter, sliding onto a stool to finally dig into her breakfast.
But at the mention of Alicent, Teddy's focus shifts, her laughter fading into a thoughtful quiet. "Obviously, I'll go. I'm just…" she nods before she tilts her head, as if trying to catch an invisible thought. "Not really sure what to expect, you know?" she can already picture fragments of Alicent's memories coming to life in the trailer, moments captured in the minds of those who loved her, each one bringing its own pang. "Are you? Do you wanna go together?" Teddy forces a subtle grin, watching her mother for a moment. "Maybe we can show Nyla the time Alicent almost had you up in one of those hoops." a laughter breaks free again as Teddy waggles her brow teasingly.
"Oh, you're good." Charlie laughs, instantly amused by the way Teddy falls into an act of surprise. One that's easy to see through, even if she wasn't her mother. Charlie's glance darts to Baby, the bear seemingly as stubborn as can be and even that keeps a grin over her lips. "I'm glad you keep her on her toes, Baby. Someone has to." she reaches to give a slight ruffle on Baby's head as the bear grunts in response. Charlie, however, moves her attention back to Teddy and now the two Prescott's are standing with their hands on their hips, mirroring one another. Charlie's brow quirks but her grin remains. "So, she just used those big old paws and could open that tiny latch? Huh, well. Guess you deserve a treat for that." she mentions as Baby's continuing sniffling makes Charlie huff.
"Tell her she can get a treat, Teds. Not one of your furry friends understands me." she waves a hand with a laugh before the sound cuts off and her head tilts back, seemingly unimpressed as Teddy mentions the wires. "That wasn't me. You're right." Charlie states, despite the fact she hooks her pinkie around her daughter's for the pact. "What's the plan today, huh? Think you're gonna..." a slight pause slips inbetween her words as Charlie dishes up her own plate with a sigh. "Alicent's thing?"

@dxrkenedheights teddy x charlie - their home
-
Teddy is always wide awake after a closing shift, feeling as if the music and the bump of the bar is still right in her ears. Her body wired up as if it's the start of the day, instead of an hour to be sleeping. And she always takes residence on the couch, attempting to read to still her mind. Or something as a distraction, as too much silence and not enough action is a recipe for disaster. Thoughts of her father always winding their way into those moments. Stay busy, Teds. She tells herself. But, it works perfectly for when her mother finishes at the casino, the sound of the door opening just as routine as their schedules.
"Wassup, buttercup." Teddy greets Charlie with a grin, book abandoned for a newspaper now. "How was it? Anyone hit the jackpot? Lose their life savings? Piss in the seat they sat in for ten hours?" she laughs then but shakes the newspaper up for Charlie to take as she passes her. "Look at the bottom, there's an ad for ranch hand stuff. A new place that trains horses for movies? Or something. You can visit and go meet horses that have been in movies. Like Applejack, the horse that Leonardo Dicaprio slept in. Well, he slept in a prop version of Applejack." Teddy explains before frowning slightly. "Actually, that's a straight up con because it wasn't even the actual horse."

Fear grips Teddy, squeezing tight around her chest. She's disorientated as the truck jerks to a stop, and before she knows it, she's being pulled out into blinding sunlight, the snow reflecting the light and dazing her suddenly as the cold strikes her. Confusion clouds her mind as she's dragged along into the camp, hearing muffled voices shout in anger and the scuffle of bodies fills the air. Her gaze darts to Tyr and Mason, witnessing their resistance and desperate struggle against the soldiers. Before, Teddy would be ready to join, but her body doesn't have an ounce of strength. The fighting ripples through the herded group, everyone stumbling and shoved further into the camp. Everything her mother warned her about has come true, it's happening in real time and she can't even think straight. "Shit." Teddy bites out in frustration, exhaustion lacing her tone as she pushes through the slush of snow when Tyr and Mason are thrown to the ground. "You're fucking idiots, you know that?" she scolds, dropping to her knees beside them, her head pounding from the effects of the wolfsbane as she does her best to help them. "We-" she takes a wayward glance toward the truck, seeing barbed fences slowly closing them in. "Fuck, this can't-" @gloriouswhispers
the panic slams into dominic like a wrecking ball, fierce and sudden as explosions rip through the air with a deafening roar. survival claws its way to the forefront of his mind, a primal instinct demanding attention. his back collides with the unforgiving ground, a violent expulsion of air from his lungs leaving him gasping for breath. there's no time for anything but instinct, a desperate scramble to regain his footing as shadows engulf him, soldiers descending upon the chaos like hungry vultures. gunfire echoes, a relentless barrage of sound assaulting his senses and dominic's heart races as he frantically searches for his lost weapon that was flung from his grip. he lunges forward, a surge of adrenaline driving him to flee, to escape the madness closing in around him. a selfish thought to escape alone crosses his mind but before he can act upon it, he's grappled by two looming soldiers, their grip like iron shackles.
a violent struggle ensues with the crack of bones and shouts of fury but despite his best efforts, dominic finds himself overpowered as more soldiers join to overwhelm him, his resistance futile against the onslaught. the sting of wolfsbane courses through his veins, searing agony tearing through his body with merciless precision. every muscle screams in protest, every ounce of strength drained away in an instant. still, he fights against the encroaching darkness, a stubborn defiance burning bright within him. but as the drug takes hold, his resistance wanes, his struggles growing feeble and futile. the soldiers haul him away, dragging him towards waiting vehicles with ruthless efficiency. dominic's mind reels, a haze of confusion and defiance warring within him, but ultimately, he knows there is no escape. he is captured, bound and helpless, tossed into the belly of a riot van, the doors slamming shut with finality, sealing his fate. @secrettyrant

There's no genuine judgment in the way Teddy looks at Mason, but she feigns a suspicious glance, eyes narrowing teasingly at him. "Mmm, okay. I believe you. You're very convincing." she grins, a chuckle slipping through her words. But now, she takes great pleasure in twisting his words again, a look of shock moving over her expression. "Is this really about the cents or are you worried I'll get fat?" she challenges, until her grin breaks the act quickly.
I'll just ignore stuff about Margo because they don't exist anymore. Teddy eyes the couple, or...newly forming couple as their body language still seems cagey. It makes her frown slightly, before glancing to Mason at his observation. "Well, the thing is, Mase." she stresses his name as she flicks the rag to rest over her shoulder, like a bartender's hairflip. "While you boys worry about if your date is a catfish, us girls have to worry about if we're gonna get chopped up and thrown in a trunk." she gives him a pointed look, despite there being no ire to the exchange. "She doesn't want him to know where she lives." Teddy adds with a more serious tone then, her thoughtful frown back. "I think he might be bothering her? Should we say something?"
Mason holds up his hands. "Hey. It was willing." Only because the options had been to give over a tip or to meet the business end of his fist, but he doesn't elaborate. "Besides, even if there was Cross Charisma involved, I can't help that it comes naturally to me." He grins, "or that people can't always handle it." He jokes, knowing what she means but choosing not to admit to any wrongdoing. "Extra nuggets might run us a few cents over. Don't be greedy, Teds." Mason snickers, leaning against the bar before glancing towards the couple. "Nah, name's not Mars is it?" He jokes of their absent friend and snickers at Teddy's recollection. "Sounds about right. Maybe she should try that trick on Hollywood Boulevard. Bet it'd go over with the tourists. Like a little David Blaine." Mason nods then, a slight snicker on his lips. "I think he's hoping to go back to hers? But she doesn't look sold on the idea, does she? Maybe his so she can sneak out?"

He manages to bring out a genuine chuckle, a noise she thinks would be an actual laugh if it didn't become a cough. "I actually feel tempted to try." she grins, watching over to guards lingering while the whole group of supernaturals shovel frozen solid shit. "I'd probably say they just do this to make their dicks feel bigger to start." and even though the thought is tempting, she quickly remembers how she wouldn't even be able to defend herself against one of them. "They start on you for the same reason." Teddy then says, waving a hand at him. "Bragging rights which I guess...I don't know if that makes it feel any better but at least you know you're not getting singled out because you're a wimp." she doubts it helps but Teddy returns to work, now thinking about Mason and Ryan and instantly thinking about her mother.
The confusion on Mason's face puts the same look on Teddy's, blinking at him and wondering if she fucked an apology up because she's not particularly known for them. "I mean, I think if there's a time to-" she gestures around them bleakly but quickly waves off his own apology. "You didn't even say anything that bad." Teddy mumbles, reluctant to admit as much. "And you were right, so." she gives a half hearted shrug. "Just means I'll have to get even about something else and be right about that." she adds with a slight grin.
Instantly, Teddy sees the hesitation in Mason's response. And it doesn't take a genius to work out what he's thinking, and the fact she knows his good nature. It makes her sigh, almost resembling her usual dramatic flare. "Oh Jesus, Mase. Please don't be a hero if it comes to it. Like...I don't-" want you to leave me here. "I'd have to shovel shit without giant feet helping me."
"How about you could insult them to the point of tears?" Mason amends with a slight grin, trying to lighten her mood. But her words bring him back to reality and Mason shrugs. "Life isn't fair, Teddy. I'll manage." He'd come to that conclusion years ago. Growing up in Center Hill hadn't exactly been a walk in the park. Having Jeff and Peter as leaders even less so. Maybe in that sense, he's prepare for the shit storm they've entered. Even if he'd prefer less broken ribs. "Nah, dad's full of shit," he says affectionately, a slight frown crossing his face as he considers how much of a pain Ryan will be now that he's gone. If there's one thing he knows for sure about his dad, it's that he won't stop looking for him. "Definitely maternal side."
As they shovel, Mason falls into companionable silence with her, mind going off in a million directions, brought back by her apology. Mason blinks, caught off guard as he squints at her. "You're not apologizing 'cause you think it's the end of the road or something, are you?" He asks, half joking, half serious before shaking his head. "Either way, save it, Ted. We're good. I promise." Mase says it sincerely, and continues shoveling. But a moment passes, and then another, and he then pauses, glancing at her. "I just...I just wanted you to be safe...but I shouldn't have said it the way I did." Condescendingly. In a very Cross, off-handed manner. "So I'm sorry for that too."
He shovels for another minute, trying not to laugh too loudly at her words and risk the guards' attention. "Oh, yeah, should add Humble to that list too. Humble Prescott has a nice ring to it." Mason chuckles, adding to the pile steadily. He knows what she's asking, even if she doesn't spell it out and the Cross hesitates. "Teddy..." he wishes he could say he wouldn't be but he doesn't know that. "I'll do whatever it takes to get us all out." Mason says lowly. To get you out. "But I don't know what the plan is yet...that's all Hunt and Dom. I'll help however I can, though."

"I'm not a liability. At all." she answers Mason quickly, her tone steeped with offence as a small scoff follows. "Isn't half of this thing about being fearless?" a rhetorical question but she's sure Mason will have a response for it so she waves her hand. "None of that has to do with why I can't do the same thing everyone else does." Teddy's voice lowers into a mumble and she focuses to the shelves, scanning for items. Her eyes shift to Mason again, just in time for his hand to raise at her and her chin tilts down, deep offence etched on her features for how he hushed her. "What?" she notices his expression, glancing through the store as if she expects something to be right behind her. "What is it? Don't do that, Mase. Just trying to creep me out." Teddy huffs at him, returning to moving between the shelves and hearing Tyr's footsteps approach. She meets the other Cross' gaze with a quick roll of her eyes in gesture to Mason. "Captain's orders, Tyr. We gotta go apparently." @waterfallswords
"That's not true." Mason gripes, continuing to fill his bag. "You just don't see the bigger picture. That this isn't a joyride. And that you're a liability." It's not the kindest way to say it but he doesn't know how to make her understand that having her here is a distraction. For him, but also, for anyone who takes one look at her and knows she'll get knocked over by a gust of wind. "I'm not saying it's fair. Because none of this is fair. Not sure if you noticed but there's a fucking war going on out there, Teddy. We're all looking for people. Trying to get by. My baby cousin's missing. There is no fair." Mason says vehemently before letting out a puff of air at her insistence.
He pauses adding items and looks at her. Really looks at her, shoulders lifting. "Nothing I say is gonna make you agree so we can just stop–" Talking. But he cuts himself off, holding up a hand for her to be quiet too. A prickle at the back of his neck. Frowning, he looks over to Tyr, gesturing at him to come over. "Let's wrap this up," he whispers to Teddy, moving faster but now with a quiet precision. "We should regroup after." There are still more stores to go through but he'd rather them be back with his uncle and Carlo.
