Sun-Kissed
Ted’s pool party turned out to be a lot more fun than you thought it would be…👀
Warnings: Joe looking like a beach babe, emphasize the BABE; smut; fingering if you squint; that freaking chain; etc.
Also this is like probs my first official time writing smut so hopefully it doesn’t bore you or make you cringe, if it does, I am so sorry :*)
Also, thanks to @balanceingrace for the encouragement❤️
Part Two is Here!
You and Joe arrive at Ted’s house for the pool party he was having for Memorial Day weekend. A lot of Joe’s teammates and their girlfriends and wives were going to be there as well, so you talked Joe into going so he could be social for once.
You sit down in-between Joe Bachie’s girlfriend, Holly and Sam’s girlfriend, Jess on the edge of the pool along with a couple of the other girls.
“That hair driving Joe nuts yet?” Holly asks and you giggle.
“Not yet anyway. He does mess with it constantly but I honestly think he likes it. We’ll see how he feels about it in July and August when its borderline 100 degrees during practice” you give her a smug look and she laughs.
“What do you think about it?” Jess smirks.
“I like it. It’s different. We were together for almost a year when he grew it out super long the first time and I didn’t mind it then but I’m curious to see what he’d look like with it now. That man has aged like fine wine so I’m excited to see some flow” you bite your lip and the girls giggle.
“You talkin’ shit?” Joe asks from behind you, standing over you.
“About you? Of course” you smile back at him and he just shakes his head as he hands you a cold bottle of water.
When you looks back at your man, you couldn’t help but let your eyes wander.
Joe had come back from playing basketball with some of the guys, his button up shirt all the way unbuttoned, showing his tan, sweaty, toned chest and torso. His chest being your weakness. His hair that has gotten longer over the past couple months and you were becoming feral over this new style he was trying. His hair was more blonde than usual, all thanks to the sun. The dirty blonde becoming low lights while the blonde really shown through. His Cartier sunglasses sitting nicely on his nose and cheekbones along with his chain around his neck that glittered in the sun, the rays bring out the jewels perfectly. Good God, you thought, if he just bent me over right now-.
“Damn, when did you turn into a slut?” You dip down your sunglasses at him, trying to joke with him instead of pouncing on him like a freaking tiger.
“A long time ago. When I started dating you” he dips his sunglasses down, copying you and shooting you a wink, which just made you even more hot. He’s such a jerk.
“Jesus” you mutter under your breath. This was too much stimulation for you, and you was afraid that if you looked at him any longer that you would
1) do or say something that no one else around should experience in public or 2) melt; which you were already doing.
“Well you need to quit because all of your ‘girlies’ can’t handle all of this” you motions to the heavenly being that was him. You couldn’t even handle all of that.
“Oh this is just for you, pretty girl. No one else to impress but you” he looks smugly at you, that famous smirk making its way onto his perfect lips.
And…it was done. That did you in.
You turn back around, facing the pool. You look over at Holly who knew what you were thinking.
“I’ll cover for you, get ya some” she smirks and nods her head towards the house.
“Thank you” you whisper to her before climbing out of the pool and facing back towards Joe. He chuckles lowly and you place your hand on his lower back, turning him around and pushing him nonchalantly into the house.
“Something wrong?” Joe asks you sarcastically, knowing the effect he has on you. Knowing your weaknesses that easily make you all hot and bothered for him.
You push him down the hallway and into the guest room and shutting the door behind you, locking it without even looking, just watching your man stare at you with eyes that were once bright blue, now dark as the depths of the ocean. And you were about to go for a dive.
“You” you tell him plainly. You make your way toward him, your hands finding their way to his bare, broad chest and your eyes looking up at him through your lashes.
“You are what’s wrong…but so right” you whisper.
In seconds, his strong hands grab your cheeks and his lips are on yours. Hard, unyielding, but loving and passionate. He couldn’t get enough of you and that damn berry chapstick you wore all the time. Your lips have never tasted any different.
His hands slide into your hair, gripping onto your long locks, slightly tugging which makes you moan against his mouth, causing his lips to curve up into a small smile.
Joe wasn’t one for PDA, but you get him in a room by yourselves, he was on you in less than a minute. Believe it or not, the man was handsy. But you didn’t mind the feeling of his strong, veiny hands on you, touching you, holding you. It was ecstasy.
His hands grip your hips as yours slide up his chest, to his shoulders, around his neck and into his dirty blonde hair that was now longer, easier to pull. He moans against your lips, spinning you around and letting you fall against the mattress, him going to pull his shirt off but you stop him.
“No. You better leave that on or so help me god-“
“Okay then” he chuckles, “can I take my shorts off or do I have to leave those on too?”
“Off, smart ass” you roll your eyes as you reach for his shorts, unbuttoning them and shoving them down his legs.
“These too?” He asks smugly, snapping the band of his boxer briefs against this skin.
“Joseph, I swear to god-“
“Okay, I’m done” he laughs, leaning down to reattach his lips to yours.
He quickly rids himself of his underwear, also quickly pulling your shorts and your blue bikini bottoms down all in one go and throwing them on the floor. He reaches behind your neck, his fingers sending chills down your spine as he pulls one the strings to your top loose, causing the tie to come undone.
He kisses down your neck, latching onto the place under your ear that makes you weak. He’s careful to not leave a mark, knowing you’d have his ass for having to walk back out to his teammates and their girls with a bright purple and red mark on your neck.
He makes his way down the column of your neck, you becoming a moaning mess, wanting him to be inside you already. He eventually arrives to your chest where he grabs onto the cloth of your matching blue bikini top with his teeth and pulling it down to expose your “perfect” breasts; his words.
“I’m obsessed with you” he says lowly, looking up at you through those blonde lashes and instantly latches onto your right nipple.
“Mmm” you moan, holding onto the back of his head, your fingers tangling into his hair as he swirls his incredible tongue around the bud.
He knew the other one was getting jealous so he moved over to your left breast, giving it the same amount of attention as the right. Joe was neither a boob or a butt guy; he was both. If he had to choose between your boobs or your butt, he would surely die.
Joe pulls away from your chest and looks into your eyes. He takes his index and middle finger and brings it to his mouth, licking them and bring them down to your core. You gasp as they brush your clit, him slowly circling it just to get you more worked up than you already were.
He drags them down to your entrance, teasing you as he feels the mess you’ve already made of yourself.
“Just wanted to make sure you were ready for me” he smirks.
“Always ready for you” you whine as he pulls his fingers away and brings them back up to his mouth, sucking your juices off of them.
“I know” he smiles.
He spits into his hand and brings it down to his dick who was also always ready for you.
You reach down and wrap your hand around him, slowly pumping him.
“O-oh shit” he groans, dropping his head to your shoulder.
You pick up the pace, a bead of precum appearing on his tip, he was starting to become a moaning mess. You take your thumb and slide it over his tip and let go of him to bring your thumb to your mouth. Slipping it into your mouth, you swirl around it, tasting him to which he watches you intently.
“I need to feel you, now” he says, his voice low and raspy. He lines himself up with your entrance before slowly, almost painfully pushing himself in.
“God” you moan out, your breath hitching in your throat as he hit your cervix. You’ll never get used to him, it’s always a pleasant surprise.
“You feel insane, baby” he groans, his head dipping down to your shoulder, pressing a kiss to your collarbone. Your hands still in his hair, obsessed with gripping onto and pulling on his now longer blonde curls.
He pulls out and pushes all the way back in again, your eyes rolling to the back of your head. Joe starts to pick up the pace, the sound of skin smacking skin making the experience oh-so-much better and intense.
“Look at me” he breathes out, his face hovering over yours, that chain gently hitting your chin as he continues to thrust into you. Oh, that could make you come undone right then and there. God bless that freaking chain.
“You are so pretty, Jesus-“ he hisses, starting to fully pound into you, repeatedly hitting that soft spot inside of you, making your eyes roll back once again.
“Joe, I’m gonna-“ your eyes screwing shut as your hands go under the back of his shirt, gripping onto his muscular back.
“Let go, baby, let go” he grunts, his dick spasming against your walls as they clinch around him. He brings his lips back down to yours as you come undone, whimpering into his mouth as he continues to thrust into you, the oversensitivity starting to kick in.
With a couple more sporadic thrusts, moaning your name against your lips, he lets go, coating your walls.
He pulls out of you gently, both of you whimpering at the sensitive feeling. He lies down next to you, both of you trying to catch your breath.
“So the unbuttoned shirt is officially approved?” Joe asks, looking over at you and you giggle.
“10 stamps of approval” you smile at him and he couldn’t help but laugh.
“Cool” he smiles back at you before leaning over to you and pressing a sweet kiss to your lips.
“We should probably go back out there before they start to get suspicious” Joe sits up and pulls his underwear and shorts up his long legs and sets your bikini bottoms and shorts on the bed next to you.
“Joe, they’re not stupid, they know damn well what we came in here to do” you scoff and he laughs.
“Well, I’m going to blame it on you if they ask” He helps you stand up.
“Go right ahead and see what happens, you jerk” you narrow your eyes at him as you tie your bikini top strings back.
“Go pee. You can threaten me later, pretty girl” he winks and gives your ass a healthy smack as you make your way to the bathroom.
“It’s not threatening, it’s promising, JB” you tell him, patting his chest.
“Also,” you stop in the doorway, “you should wear that all of the time”
You smirk at him as he smiles at you.
“Oh I will wear it everyday if I get the exact same reaction I did today” he nods.
“Good” you wink and shut the door behind you.
After getting yourself cleaned up and fixing your sex hair, you walk back outside to where Joe was already sitting with the guys, chatting away.
You walk over to Joe and sit yourself on his thick thighs, your favorite seat to sit on, other than his face. Joe presses a kiss to the back of your shoulder, once again, sending a chill down your back. You shoot him a loaded look over your shoulder and he smiles up at you, those blue eyes glistening behind his sunglasses.
“Love you” he mouths to you and you blush.
“Love you” you mouth back and turn your attention back to the guys.
One of these days, he will be the death you. But hey, that would be a great way to go out.

About the Roy and Jamie fight:
I think people forget Jamie used to be a real prick. He’s done a real 180, but people who have actually worked on the really bad parts of themselves know that those parts of us don’t just leave. For a character that was introduced as The Prince Prick of All Pricks, his first instinct being lashing out and putting people down, to change so much after so much turmoil in his life (going to Richmond, leaving Richmond, doing the reality show and coming back to Richmond) is beautiful to see. But even after he came back we see a little bit of that instinct coming back. When the team gives him the signal, he starts by saying “I’m no doing it wrong, you’re doing it wrong”. He’s frustrated, but there no need for him to say that. He could just start by explaining. To part of him LIKES being a prick. Because is part of who he is.
Roy was introduced as a rude and angry captain in the end of his legendary career whose response to the world is rage and violence. He’s watching his career end in a mediocre team and doesn’t have any connections with his teammates. The closest relationship he has within the team is with Jamie. The asshole who’s rude to everyone, who has a funny and kind girlfriend, the one who he already knows is going to be a legend. Roy’s change comes later, slower, because, just like Zava could, legends can get away with things other people can’t. Nobody asked Roy to change. Richmond didn’t care that Roy was an absent captain. That he was violent. Sky sports didn’t care that he swore on live tv. Ted didn’t ask him to change when he asked him to come back. It was only in the middle of this season that Rebecca gave him a real talk.
And then we come to their interactions this episode. Roy sees jamie and keeley hugging and assumes the worst. He asks jamie out for a beer, something we know never happened bc jamie hasn’t had beer in months. We have the callback of the fist bumps, now offered by Roy. In the bar, Roy is obviously sincere when he says that he’s proud of jamie (but I honestly think he was going for a compliment sandwich), but he immediately segways into the subject of keeley. He’s so insecure in his relationship with keeley (and probably with Jamie) that it comes of possessive and dismissive of Jamie. We can see in his face that he means it as a competition, as if HE won. And Jamie responds in kind, reaching for the prince pricks of all pricks that lives in him, and that Roy can access easier then anyone. They have more equal ground now, they both like and respect each other. But they are both also highly competitive, both insecure, both known for lashing out when cornered, Jamie with his words and Roy with his fists. Jamie knew what he was doing when he talked about the video. He WANTED to hurt Roy. And roy responded how he used to, because Jamie acted like he used to.
And that is the nail on the coffin to Roy. The next morning he asks to be a diamond dog. Because he baited Jamie and he knew it. And when jamie baited him back, he fell for it. He asked for everything that happened the night before, and I can bet you that it was jamie that suggested they go talk to keeley. And it was jamie that offered dinner. Because jamie HAD to change, and Roy witnessed him doing it. He knows is possible, he’s seen it, and he finally realized he can’t do it alone, bc he’s been trying and fell back as soon as his insecurities hit a little harder. And he brought his best friend down with him, even after seeing and experiencing his change. He asked for help because he doesn’t know how to deal with having a best friend, someone who knows you, who challenges you, who makes you feel like you can do better.
Because that’s what happens when you have real and vulnerable relationships. No one can hurt you more then your best friend, because they know you better then anyone. The people who know you are the ones that can bring the worst out of you. And you cans also bring the worst out of them. Roy already knows Jamie tries very hard not to do this. The least he can do is try to learn too.
(This is not a defense of the behaviour, it’s just been driving me insane that people are saying it out of character. It’s not. It’s a natural response and a callback and a demonstration of HOW MUCH their relationship changed that they stop fighting to come to a “better”conclusion (it’s not), and then get dinner together. No hard feelings.)
#ted lasso#ted lasso spoilers#jamie tartt#roy kent#I’m sorry for this rant#but I’ve been going crazy with this#with a lot of other reactions too#but Jamie is my bbgirl and I’m not standing by with people dragging him#the whole point of the show and SAID in this episode is that no one is perfect#I’m sorry if this doesn’t makes sense I just had to get it out of me

Yesss I can just imagine schlatt being restrained, your head in his lap while teds between your thighs overstimming you until your crying, (which is one of schlatts favourite things to do to you), making direct eye contact with him. just saying things like "see she was so good t'night, you couldn't've been where I am if you weren't such a bratty fuck." And like look at you while your barely even there and say "think he deserves to cum baby?" And you can't form sentences so ted just goes "awh. No answer? You don't think he should?"
(this was kind of a rant so I'm sorry if this makes no sense) -✨
OKAY NOW YOURE FLUSTERING ME CAUSE LIKE?????
idk abt you but I’m big into impact play and part of me (projecting at its finest) that thinks schlatt is to.
Imagine schlatt just will not stop being a fucking brat it’s doesn’t even have to be towards you. They’re filming the pod during chuckle week and schlatt changes their usual set up where the guest sits in the middle so he can sit next to ted.
And much to teds pleasure dismay Schlatt’s got his hand grabbing his dick through his pants. And much to schlatts disappointment Ted’s not reacting sheerly out of spite. When they’re done filing however, Ted’s got him pulled into the nearest bathroom or private area asking what the fuck he was thinking.
“God you’re such a fucking slut, you need cock that fucking badly?” And schlatt can’t speak he was already hard the moment Ted grabbed him by the arm and dragged him away. When he doesn’t answer Ted slaps him, not quite hard enough to truly hurt schlatt especially because it’s not something the two of them have fully talked about, but it’s something Schlatt’s seen him do to you. And to say schlatt likes it is an understatement because he moans soooo loud.
“You would fucking like that, huh” Ted can’t help but smirk ideas flooding his head for later, for now he needs to get Schlatt’s current attitude problem under control. “On your knees you want my cock so bad you’re gonna get it.”
And Ted doesn’t hold back at all he fucks Schlatt’s throat snapping a picture to send it to you. Which results in a FaceTime call from you wanting to see your pretty boy get his face fucked. It embarasses schlatt at first but he can’t really complain because at the end of the day he’s getting g exactly what he wants.
(Whoops didn’t mean to write so much but erm yeah there you go nonnie)

the rest of the day was filled with walking, stopping to talk about a building, more walking, stopping by the dining commons to eat, more walking, talking to a few people y/n had met that had created their own sub-group amongst the group, and even more walking. did she mention how much walking they had to do? the group was currently sitting down at a table for dinner at one of the many dining commons on campus, and y/n was seated between two people who were definitely not cody, but that was because cody was part of his own sub-group already.
on one side of her sat a girl she met named sasha, a fellow woman in stem who was majoring in biomedical engineering, and on the other side of her sat a computer science major named dolph. y/n had wanted to get to know sasha, she was part of the same sub-group as y/n and they had similar majors. however, most of her time talking and socializing amongst the group was stolen by dolph.
dolph was nice, she determined. she didn’t know it was possible to meet someone who was more into his own looks than cody, but dolph had proven her wrong. beside the man’s self-indulgent personality, he had been complimenting y/n and actually listened to her rambling. they had sat beside each other at every meal of the day and were always at the back of the group talking amongst themselves unless someone else addressed them.
y/n had finished her dinner quickly, not having grabbed as much food as she wasn’t feeling too particularly hungry. she laughed at dolph’s exaggerated telling of his high school days and how rambunctious he was.
“see, i don’t know why you expected a different outcome.” y/n scolded playfully, nudging dolph with her elbow. “if you’re going to decide to do donuts in the school parking lot, why don’t you do it, oh i don’t know, not during school hours maybe?” she teased, flashing dolph a wide smile.
that was the first time y/n had initiated any physical contact with dolph, and although she meant it in a teasing manner, dolph seemed to have taken it as the ok to be more touchy with y/n. he slung his arm across her shoulders, letting it hang there as he argued, “where’s the fun in doing it when others aren’t there to witness?”
dolph may not have noticed it, but cody sure had noticed the way y/n had tensed up under dolph’s arm. he shoveled the last bite of his food into his mouth, nodding at eve’s words as she spoke beside him, although he wasn’t paying much attention. cody knew that you weren’t exactly the touchy type, especially when others touched you, which was why he and ted had always made it a point to only lay a hand on you if absolutely needed. knowing this, he made a note to keep an eye on dolph. the braindead hunk couldn’t even notice how much you had tensed up.
hunter came by around the table, and announced to his group, “alright looks like everyone’s done eating. as you all know, after this is the football game but it isn’t a mandatory event so you’re free to head back to your dorms if you’d like. if you’re coming to the game, follow me! if not, then it was great having you all around and welcome to the university!”
everyone immediately scooted their chairs out and stood up, picking up their dishes so they could drop it off at the dish return. y/n was one of the first to stand up, letting dolph’s arm fall off her shoulders as she light out a breath that she didn’t know she was holding him.
it’s ok. she reminded herself. dolph doesn’t know that i don’t like being touched. maybe he’s also one of the touchy ones like how the boys are.
as she reached for her plate, it was quickly scooped up by dolph who smiled down at her. “don’t worry, i got it. don’t forget your bag though.” dolph reminded her, nodding to y/n’s tote bag that hung off the side of the chair.
y/n thanked him as she grabbed her bag and slung it over her shoulders. “are you going to the game?” dolph asked her, walking alongside her as they followed the group to drop off their dishes.
“no, i’m going to head back to the dorm and go watch some videos maybe.” y/n told him, already searching around the mass of people in front of them for her tall brunette manwhore of a friend.
“mind if i join you?” dolph asked, dropping off their dishes.
she thought about it for a moment. would it be a bad idea to have dolph come over? ah, who cares? she’s had ted over to her room without cody being there and vice versa, what made dolph any different.
“i don’t mind at all, besides, i think my friend is going to the game to score.” she laughed, nodding towards cody.
eve was practically hanging off of cody’s arm, feeling up on his bicep as they talked with their already forming friend group.
“but let me go double check first, come with me.” she told dolph, motioning dolph to follow her as she made her way over to the group. she tapped cody’s shoulder, smiling when he turned to greet her.
“oh hey y/n! you going to the game? you can tag along with us!” he told her, turning towards the group. he opened his mouth, about to introduce y/n to them, in case they forgot her introduction from this morning, when he was cut off.
“oh actually, dolph and i are gonna head back to the dorm. i can trust your smart self to make it back safe right?” she asked, not noticing the way cody had immediately began to size up dolph.
“oh! i’ll bring him back it’s okay.” eve piped up, squeezing cody’s arm as she stared up at the man.
y/n smiled politely, trying not to say anything about the way eve was trying way too hard to get cody’s attention. she knew, ted knew, and cody knew, that if you truly wanted to get into cody’s bed, it wasn’t all too much of a challenge.
“alright, we’ll see you! come on dolph! have fun codes!” y/n called out, waving goodbye to the group before turning on her heel and making her way out of the building. she knew dolph would be able to catch up to her - the perks of having long legs.
“so, what building are you in?” dolph asked, walking beside her with his hands in his pockets.
“celadon.” she answered, turning to look at him when she heard him gasp.
“no way. i’m right beside you. i’m in viridian.” dolph smiled.
“looks like i’ll be seeing a lot of you around, huh?” she mused as they walked up to the door of her building. she swiped her id card which served as the key, and dolph opened the door for her.
“you just met me and you think you can get rid of me so soon?” he teased, stepping off to the side to let her walk in first.
dolph followed behind y/n as she lead the way to her dorm room, and once they arrived, dolph couldn’t hide his excitement.
“i didn’t know you were in a single room. and no neighbors either?” he questioned, walking into the room and noting how y/n had kept the door wide open.
“nope! i heard enough terrible roommate stories to scare me away for a lifetime, so i decided i wanted my own room. i got real lucky with the no neighbors though.” y/n laughed. she pulled out her chair for dolph to sit in, “please sit! welcome to my humble abode.”
dolph sat down in the chair, leaning back on it and turning to face y/n as she sat up on her bed. he scooted closer to her, positioning himself to be right in front of her.
“so, do you always keep the door open when you invite guys over?” dolph questioned, his voice lowering to a sultry tone.
of course, with y/n’s inexperience, she hadn’t thought too much about the change in tone. it didn’t change too much from how he was speaking to her earlier.
“well, i’ve only ever had cody or ted over. cody’s the guy from our orientation group and ted’s his roommate. but yeah, it’s usually wide open throughout the day. i only close it if it’s quiet hours and we’re still in here, if i’m going to sleep, or if i’m just not in the room at all.” she answered, tensing up once dolph’s hand had found its resting place on her knee.
“and do you always wear outfits like this? you’re absolutely breathtaking.” dolph whispered, his eyes lingering over y/n’s form.
oh. this was not where y/n had expected this to go. but maybe she was reading the situation wrong.
dolph stood up, resting his hands on y/n’s waist and leaning down to bring his face near hers.
okay, no she was reading the situation completely correct. y/n placed her hands on dolph’s chest and slightly pushed him as a warning.
“please don’t.” she whispered, her voice shaking with something like fear.
“then why’d you invite me in here, baby. i’ve been chatting you up the whole day, you invite me back to your room, and you expect me to not make a move?” dolph questioned, pulling y/n in closer to him which caused her to yelp.
“dolph, no. i don’t want to do this with you.” y/n let out another yelp when dolph began to lean in, turning her head so he kissed her cheek instead. “dolph no, stop!” she squeezed her eyes shut and attempted to push him away as he continued to pull her in closer.
suddenly, dolph disappeared. his touch was removed from her and she could finally breathe.
“hey asshole, she told you to stop.”
she opened her eyes at cody’s voice, turning to see cody holding dolph close to him by the collar of dolph’s shirt. dolph had his hands raised up defensively, clearly not wanting to start a fight with cody.
“my bad bro. i didn’t hear her.” dolph defended as cody began to drag him out of the room. although, it didn’t seem like dolph made little effort to struggle against him.
“even if you didn’t hear her, you still could see how she’s physically reacting. now get lost. if i see you near her, i’ll beat your face in.” cody threatened, shoving dolph down to the ground of the hallway.
cody slammed the door shut in dolph’s face, glaring at him until his vision was cut by the door. although he knew that the doors could only be opened with a key, cody turned the deadbolt of the door for good measure.
“cody i-“
cody turned to look at y/n, and that was when y/n had made a note to never get on cody’s bad side. the man looked furious, his face quite literally a dark shade of red from anger.
“are you okay?” he asked, walking over to y/n. “he didn’t get any farther right? i got here in time?” cody continued to question, looking over y/n’s figure before quickly turning his head to face the wall. “your, your skirt. he flipped it up.” he told her.
y/n’s face turned beet red as she quickly flipped down her skirt to cover herself up. she squeezed her legs tight together and cleared her throat. “you can look now. and i’m okay… thank you.” she said softly, looking up at cody as he met her gaze.
she could tell her answer wasn’t good enough for him, so she gave him a reassuring smile.
it did seem like her smile reassured cody enough, the man visibly relaxing and sitting himself down on y/n’s chair. he looked at her and sighed, bringing his hand up to pinch his nose bridge right between his eyes.
“what happened to that girl?” y/n questioned, realizing that it hadn’t been too long since her and dolph arrived at the dorms. “or those cheerleaders you were planning in flirting with?”
cody sighed again, bringing his hand down. he leaned back in her chair and stared up at the ceiling. “i got the ick.” he answered, to which y/n’s eyes widened in shock.
“you. cody rhodes. infamous manwhore. man who’s already fucked like 3 different girls since arriving in the dorms. man who allegedly has 4 baby mommas from high school. got the ick.” y/n let out, smiling sheepishly when cody’s head suddenly shot up to glare at her for her high school comments.
“first off, i already told you i never got a girl pregnant or even had a pregnancy scare, they’re just making rumors about me because they wish they got to sleep with me. and second!” cody began, pointing an accusing finger at y/n who had began to giggle like a little schoolgirl. he paused before bringing his hand down and leaning back into his seat. “yes, i got the ick.”
“well? what’d she do?” y/n asked, leaning forward with her elbows on her knees. to say she was invested was an understatement.
cody groaned, rubbing his face with his hands. “she was a bad kisser. like, i don’t know how to describe it. you know how like when you have your first makeout session or sometimes even first kiss it’s typically really bad and messy? somehow this was worse than that.” he complained.
y/n paused at his words. when she didn’t say anything for a while, cody met her gaze. he couldn’t decipher what emotions were running through y/n’s mind.
“i… don’t know.” she admitted softly, her face turning red in embarrassment. y/n quickly turned her face away from cody so he couldn’t see how bad her blush was becoming.
“you don’t know what?” cody asked, confusion dripping down his chin as well as spilling out on to his face.
“i never kissed anyone.” she admitted, bringing her hand up to rub the back of her neck.
at this, cody’s eyes widened in bewilderment.
“what? like ever?” he questioned loudly, watching as y/n nodded her head in confirmation. cody could suddenly feel himself get angry once again. “well thank god i fucking came back. imagine if that shithead had been your first kiss. you probably would never want to kiss anyone after that. he can’t even tell when you’re uncomfortable so how would he know how to kiss?” he scoffed, crossing his arms and rolling his eyes in frustration.
she didn’t say anything in reply, lost in her thoughts. cody didn’t say anything either, letting his anger lull over although he kept picturing the scenario that he had walked in on. and to think that dolph guy thought he could pull a fast one on y/n. the silence that filled the room was tense for two different reasons: one of them was overthinking and the other was trying not to go on a manhunt.
“is… is it bad if i don’t know how to kiss though? like if i were to start dating someone in college, do you think they’d mind that i’ve never kissed anyone though?” y/n questioned, turning to look at cody.
“depends.” cody answered with a shrug, uncrossing his arms. “it genuinely depends on the person. me though? i’d prefer having someone that has experience, you know. i already went through the whole learning from someone and teaching another.”
y/n hummed in response, thinking over cody’s answer. looks like she’ll just have to hope that whoever she ends up liking, they won’t mind teaching her a thing or two.
she shuddered at the thought that dolph was almost her first kiss, and suddenly became hyper aware of all the places he had put his hands on her. y/n wiped away at her cheek where he had kissed her, and then moved on to wipe at her hips.
“what are you doing?” cody questioned as he watched his friend suddenly go feral with wiping away at her body.
“i was thinking about the fact that dolph was almost my first kiss and now i’m like hyperaware of all the places he’s touched and - it feels so wrong.” she complained, her wiping becoming more frantic as she began to process more of what had almost happened if cody hadn’t stepped in.
suddenly, she felt cody grab her hands to stop her. she looked up at him with wide eyes, not even catching that he had stood up from his seat and that he had even moved over to her.
“c’mere y/n.” cody whispered, guiding y/n to wrap her arms around his waist before wrapping his own arms around her. y/n felt cody hug her gently, and she tensed up in his arms. it wasn’t long before she melted in his embrace, relaxing against him and pressing her face into his chest.
“you’re very warm… and smell good.” she mumbled against his chest. she felt him laugh, causing her to smile against him. y/n pulled her face out of his chest so she could look up at him with a wide smile.
“is this better than his touch?” he questioned as he looked down at her.
she nodded her head tightening her arms around his waist as she pressed the side of her face against his chest. she shut her eyes and breathed out,
“that shouldn’t even be a question.”

Okay, preliminary thoughts, after first time watching season 3 of Heartstopper.
SPOILERS!!!
(Some of these are just me screaming and probably lack context, i just wrote this really fast whilst watching, and then forgot what else was happening.)
MY BABIES ARE BACK!
- Not me doing a happy dance and squeeing with joy when Isaac says “I’m not in the mood to give my friends a vocab lesson.” SAME!
- Crying already.
- TORI!
- Nellie, like a good doggo, waiting for her dad outside the bathroom, really got me. That look!!!!!
- I loved Hailey Atwell as aunt Diane, but I still missed Olivia Colman so much… she made too much of an impact as Sarah, and you can really feel her absence.
- Screaming at the fact that they got Annette Badland (from Ted Lasso and Big Boys) to be Darcy’s gran!!! I love her, she’s perfect.
- OMG The Teachers
- If episode 3 was already getting to me and then episode 4 was super sad, I was still unprepared for the scene where Nick cries in Tao’s arms. (Something something Nick in his superhero outfit trying to be Charlie’s superhero, but also needing to cry, will delve more into that in my full episode analysis…)
- I weep every time I reread the comic when Charlie goes to talk to his parents, but hearing everything out of Charlie’s mouth made it even worse. I’m a mess…
- I honestly looooooved how they did episode 4, with the quick catch-up flashback structure and two perspectives. I didn’t think it would work, but it was great.
- It took me a whole 5 seconds to realize that when Nick said “vintage camera” he was referring to the HANDYCAM that Will’s dad used, and I honestly never thought I would feel the urge to punch Nick Nelson but I did…
- “I hope that when you get back you don’t feel like you have to lie to us anymore.” LOOOOOOOVED that whole home video they did for Charlie, perfect vibe, it was so nicely done. But that line really got me… Isaac was perfect this season.
- More crying…
- OMG the Charlie painting!!! All of Elle’s paintings! I wonder who made those really? Whose style is it? Have they ever talked about it??? I need to know!
- “I hope I get a soul”, “I hope I get mental health”. I didn’t know I could ask for these things for Christmas…
- Imogen was hilarious and so beautifully developed this season. Much like Nick, she’s going through a whole self-discovery phase, but hers is not as perfect.
- HENRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
- “Is this the boyfriend?” I need to talk soooo hard about the contrast between the two families. Nick has a whole family that loved him, except that he doesn’t get along with his brother and he has an absent dad, whilst Charlie has a difficult relationship with his family, but his sister really seems to get him. You can see the contrasting environment at Christmas, with the disjointed vibes at the Spring household, and the very warm and welcoming vibes at the Nelson household…
- Every time Tori pops us out of nowhere, it’s perfect. Love the spooked look on David’s face.
- Dysphoria talk!
- “Spare us the details”, “No! I want all the details!” I am Isaac and Isaac is me.
- I watched the trailer… I watched the clips… but I NEVER expected that Michael would be so FUCKING PERFECT. I need more of him. “Beautiful chaos.” I was in tears.
- “I don’t want to keep hurting you.” IMOGEEEEEEEN. Love this whole storyline. Can’t wait for more of them.
- Drunk Charlie!!! He’s so horny. Whilst drunk Nick is a little sad. And drunk Imogen is a bit of both. I’m more of a drunk Tara: extra anxious.
- As someone who just experienced a major meltdown at work, over which I’m still embarrassed, I love how Tara also went from “I want to die” to “IDGAF about anything” because that is the right response.
- The radio show scene proves that Yasmin Finney’s voice should be on everything. I could listen to her read scientific papers to me. Does anyone know if I can make her my satnav voice?
- Sincerely disappointed that Elle’s mum did not kick down the door and barge in and slap the interviewer, whilst Mr Argent tried to hold her back and Tao filmed the whole thing.
- But I wrote down everything that Elle said, because that’s going into my arsenal. “Trans people are not a debate”. PERIODT.
- Love how we see Nick hanging out with other people more, especially Tara, and how encouraging Tara is. Their friendship is so lovely.
- I honestly thought that Tao would say “I’m improving, I might even become the next… Elle Argent.”
- I never thought I would identify so hard with a fictional bisexual teen boy, but in the comic, and now here, when Nick talks about how much of his true self he was repressing before he figured out he was bi… I feel that.
- The whole uni road trip was perfect, but it felt too short. Also I wish we would have gotten the scene in which Nick and Charlie facetime and Nick gets a preview of Naked Charlie ™. *Was not prepared
- A little disappointed in Charlie’s rock band outfit, it looked nothing like the one in the comic… also, after seeing Joe Locke as Teen in “Agatha All Along”, I would have killed to see him in all black tight clothes. Nick’s head would have exploded, though…
- Although this season was definitely hornier, it wasn’t quite horny enough. Here’s hoping that season 4 (which will definitely happen) will be the horniest ever.
That’s it for now… I need to rewatch already…

it’s taken me 3 seasons to realise this but the only people on ted lasso that are allowed genuinely complicated stories are the white characters and it’s been the case the whole time, this third season just kind of confirmed it.
as nice as sam’s story felt, it was really nothing more than surface level and just felt like a replica of what we’ve already seen in the media. portraying real stories is what can makes television really compelling, but when the televised story is basically a cut and paste of a news article or a documentary without giving the characters depth and long-term storytelling, then what is the point? it was a surface level story to get the clicks and the viral moments that can capture the heart of people who watch a random clip on tiktok or twitter and don’t need any more context, because there isn’t really much else needed. unlike the build up of jamie and roy’s hug, ted’s panic attack, keeley’s first kiss with a woman, or ted being betrayed by nate, sam’s story can literally be chopped up into a single clip at a time and no more context is needed to get what’s going on because it really wasn’t given any detailed aspects. and to be honest that’s what sam’s character has been this entire time.
the notion of the show is to fight evil with kindness and that works when your friend is being mean to you or your mentee betrays you like it is with ted’s stories. but it doesn’t work that way with someone like sam. his role in the show since the beginning has been “the good immigrant” that fights violence with kindness, despite being confronted with more violence than anyone on the show. he was told to stop speaking about his people by the prime minister and his restaurant was vandalised, yet it only made up to no more than a 1/3 of the episode. other much less important moments had more screentime in an episode that depicted a very real scenario that we literally saw happen a year ago. and even then, ted got to interrupt his moment with his dad and steal the shine, and then it was made about the entire team coming together rather than the deadly discrimination against immigrants and violent racism.
the people of colour on this show are only really used for quick gags and to show that men can be silly and goofy too and to have a big middle finger to toxic masculinity - which in turn is kind of just repeats the same toxic masculinity points because other than jamie and roy, the other men’s “anti toxic masculinity” messages are just covered in humour and never taken seriously. isaac’s journey to becoming the captain of richmond was all about roy and we never really saw his point of view other than a few scenes. and then it felt rushed. dani is just like sam, except the only time he ever speaks is to have a funny moment where his kindness is the butt of the joke. and even though he’s not a person of colour, colin’s coming out story has been so incredibly surface level that i don’t even know why they bothered to do it. nothing new was given, it was just a white man in the closet who has a boyfriend and gets caught. you can describe his story to a stranger and they could probably find it done on riverdale but with more screentime.
and nate’s redemption arc is about a white woman finally seeing him as a human despite the fact that he was never actually mean to her and just wanted to please his parents in a place he never really felt welcome. he was horrible to ted and richmond, but that jade lady was horrible to him from the get-go and we’re now supposed to see this as very sweet and sentimental.
the show is written for white audiences and doesn’t do anything daring, and i feel like it never actually did. maybe it was because it premiered during such a dark time and it was nice to see grown men in typically toxic environments be the opposite, but i don’t think the show is nearly as clever or as groundbreaking as it has gotten the credit for.
#anyway#will see how the rest of the season pans out but it's been terrible so far#sam is the glitter on the shitter of a season and even then#just not good#ted lasso#sam obisanya#dani rojas#isaac mcadoo#colin hughes#ted lasso s3#tv thoughts

Idk if I’ve said this already but I don’t care cuz I’ll say it a thousand times but Peace by Taylor Swift is such a Hunter/Huntlow song it makes me scream
Our coming-of-age has come and gone
Suddenly the summer, it's clear
I never had the courage of my convictions
As long as danger is near
And it's just around the corner, darling
'Cause it lives in me
No, I could never give you peace
Like literally??? They spent a summer in the human realm and he felt in the back of his mind that his past/danger was coming for him. Like he harbored such fear that him being a grim walker and being linked to Belos was something he could never shake or live down.
But I'm a fire, and I'll keep your brittle heart warm
If your cascade ocean wave blues come
All these people think love's for show
But I would die for you in secret
The devil's in the details, but you got a friend in me
Would it be enough if I could never give you peace?
Then he starts to like who he is and realize who he is outside the lies and rules and society he was trapped in. He knows who he is but he can’t change what he is, he know he loves his friends and would genuinely do anything for them but he still doesn’t feel like it’s enough compared to the things about himself he can’t change. He still feels even knowing they care about him that if they knew the truth that would stop and he wouldn’t blame them.
And you know that I'd swing with you for the fences, with you in the trenches
Like holy crap I need a moment. They’ve done this. Flyer derby to battling a homunculus.
Give you the silence that only comes when two people understand each other
Family that I chose, now that I see your brother as my brother. Is it enough?
This is the line that gets me every time like I imagine him and Willow just sitting in the same room reading and being comfortable and enjoying each other’s presence. Like he doesn’t need an excuse or resin to justify being near her, she just likes spending time with him no matter how small. And the brother line is so Gus coded I wanna cry
But there's robbers to the east, clowns to the west
I'd give you my sunshine, give you my best
But the rain is always gonna come if you're standing with me
He knows what’s waiting for him back home at the end of the day. That outside this group, people might not care about him enough or try to understand him to let him stay happy when they return. He has a past that expands without him contributing. Plus I just think of Gus saying how he’s been smiling more in the human realm and then the rain imagery when they arrived in the rain? Like our boy has gone through so much and he still puts everyone else first. He gives everything to the people he loves but he feels so unworthy of their love but he still tries to be worthy of it .
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Since you're in law school, here's a legal question for you about Wriggle Up on Dry Land: what's the legal process for removing a minor from their parent's custody in a situation like Jamie's? Would Ted be eligible to become his legal guardian given that he's not a British citizen and is presumably in the country on some sort of short-term work visa?
ordinarily i might just handwave this sorta thing but being as my profession and education is what it is i have done. A Lot of research about this yeah and the short answer is it’s a subplot in the fic when they realize uh oh we might have some citizenship and legality issues here and they gotta have a kind of war meeting with the responsible adults ted has sort of amassed to help him figure out wtf to DO here and some lawyers rebecca knows.
details on how that’s handled and how it plays out under the cut for length and in case anyone cares abt spoilers!
the solution is 1. roy is like fuck it what the fuck are we even talking about if we need someone with citizenship for this ill fucking take him and doesn’t even realize what he’s volunteering for until after he has volunteered for it. he does maintain he means it tho.
but that doesn’t end up being necessary because 2. what they work out with the hospital social worker and doctors and whatnot who are managing the situation when things with jamie really break bad is that he’s sixteen at that point and the law in the uk around when you can simply Leave your parents’ home (or be kicked out) is different than in several other jurisdictions (including the predominant law in the us and canada). the benchmark for that is sixteen. and so while he’d be eligible for a lot of help and programmes and whatnot it’s also possible to work out a sort of like. informal arrangement where the priority of every professional involved, whether this is technically to the letter protocol, is that given his age and circumstances he ends up in the most safe and supportive environment possible and that’s in this informal arrangement with this person they’ve determined wasn’t responsible for his injuries and who clearly cares for him very much and who he insists he wants to go with.
(there’s probably gonna be some technical inaccuracies here and fudging of how this process works and i beg the patience of uk lawyers, social workers, doctors, etc in the process but as best as i can tell the whole resolution here is like. within the realm of possibility.)
also it means that james isn’t going to be criminally prosecuted. this is a Conversation that is held between everyone involved with jamie’s wishes and what will best protect his safety taken at the highest priority. hope that’s not going to be a like. bummer to anyone, since i know hoping he sees Consequences is probably a major priority for a lot of people lmao, but suffice it to say there are some consequences for damn sure even though i didnt want to take the narrative in the direction of detailing a full criminal trial for child abuse. (bc knowing me i would’ve gone IN on it. one day im gonna write a bunch of like. legalfic for various fandoms mark my words. the same story sort of is one in a way already lmao)

Day Nine: Wake Up!
Summary: Ted is really tired and would honestly love to take a little power nap at his desk.
Apparently Bill wants him to talk about his feelings like an emotionally cognisant human being instead.
-
Hey guys! I might be running out of steam a little, but I'm determined to keep going strong at least for a couple more days. I might take a break over the weekend since it's thanksgiving and also mine and my brother's birthdays, so I'm gonna be a little busy. This fic got super off track from what I had planned but I hope that everyone enjoys this installment <33
-
Another boring fucking day at work.
Ted didn’t even know what he was doing here half the time. Most of the shit he did just felt like endless busy work. It was all organizing files and pinning email and printing documents.
Normally he was able to power through it with a few shitty coffees and a healthy dose of bothering his coworkers. It was a steady paycheck and that was something he definitely needed.
Doubly so now that he had Peter living with him.
Last night had been exhausting.
Look, he hadn’t exactly been thinking about the fact that he had work in the morning when his kid brother showed up on his doorstep, bag slung over his shoulder and tears streaming down his face, saying, “I told them. They uh— They kicked me out. Can I stay here for a bit?”
The next several hours had been spent clearing out the junk room for Peter to put all his stuff in and then sitting there while he explained what happened. Now, Ted isn’t the best when it comes to feelings, but he’s of the opinion that there’s nothing a cup of hot chocolate and a firm Spankoffski hug can’t make at least a little better.
It must have done something because, right before Peter had finally drifted off to sleep, he’d smiled at Ted and called him Teddy, something he hadn’t done since he was a little kid.
At that point it had already been past midnight, but then Ted made the genius decision to stay up a few extra hours googling variations of How to tell my trans brother he can live with me for as long as he needs without being gross or emotional about it.
Oh, and also Is it still illegal to kill your parents if they’re transphobic assholes? Asking for a friend. But he’d used incognito for that one, obviously. He wasn’t fucking stupid.
What all that meant was that now Ted was sitting at his desk, trying to focus on what he was pretty sure was the correct computer screen out of the three he was seeing.
Maybe nobody would notice if he closed his eyes for a little bit. It’s not like they paid any attention to him anyway—
“HEY!”
Ted’s elbows shot down to rub away the electric feeling of someone goosing his sides. That was his way of being affectionate while still being annoying and he did not appreciate it being used against him.
“Rise and shine, Ted!” He looked up behind himself to see Bill’s smiling face, looking much too proud of himself for what was a subpar joke at best.
God, he is not awake enough to deal with this right now. Maybe if he just closes his eyes and ignores his coworker, he’ll leave Ted alone.
“What— Oh come on, Ted. It’s a beautiful day! Let’s see that smile.”
Well, that didn’t sound good.
“Bihihihihill! Fuck ohohohoff!”
The attack of pokes to his torso has Ted sliding down in his chair. He’s not awake enough to stifle the giggles that start leaking out of him and, yeah, maybe it does make him feel a little bit lighter.
It doesn’t last too long before Bill lets up and Ted’s able to catch his breath, clawing himself back into his seat just to sag right back down into it.
“Hey man,” Bill leans against the wall of his cubicle, a concerned furrow in his brow, “You doing alright? You’ve been kind of out of it all day.”
Ugh, looks like they’re doing this.
“I’m just tired, okay? My parents kicked out my little brother and he showed up at my place last night. I was up way too late trying to figure out how to make sure he feels like he can stay or whatever.”
Silence rings out after Ted stops speaking, and he glances up to see a sort of awed look on Bill’s face.
“What?” He curls his arms around himself, hunching his shoulders self-consciously, “What did I say?”
“Nothing! I just didn’t know that you had that protective big brother instinct in you. It’s really sweet,” Bill looks contemplative for a moment, “I also didn’t know that you had a little brother. I thought that you had a sister?”
Ted just stares at him, willing Bill to connect the dots on his own.
“Oh.”
“Yeah.”
“Ohhhhh.”
“Yeah, dude. I don’t want to fuck this up,” He’s still tired and he drags a hand down his face, trying to wake himself up, “Pete’s just a kid! And I’ve never really had to take care of him before. Or myself, really. I don’t know what I’m doing!”
Bill’s silent for a moment before straightening up and placing a hand on Ted’s shoulder, “Look. I don’t really know what your situation with your brother is. But I know that you’ve been walking around like a zombie all day because you threw yourself into figuring out how to make him feel at home, and I think that that’s a pretty good indicator that you’re heading in the right direction.”
Damn. When did Bill get all wise and shit?
“Yeah. Thanks, man. That uh— That means a lot.”
In response to Ted’s emotionally constipated attempt at expressing gratitude, Bill just offers a lopsided grin before heading back to his cubicle.
“Actually, you know what? There’s only an hour left of the day, Ted, why don’t you head home and see your brother? I’ll cover anything that comes in for you.”
Oh God, what is he feeling? What’s this warm and fuzzy feeling in his chest?
Does he actually like Bill? Like an actual fucking friend?!
“Really?”
“Yeah! I’ll see you tomorrow,” His smile fades into something a little softer, “And get some actual sleep tonight, Ted. You’re not good to anyone with half your already suffering brain function.”
Ted’s basically already halfway out the door, but he pauses for a moment to flip Bill off and toss a muttered Thanks over his shoulder.
He walks to the car, taking in a deep breath before sliding in and turning the ignition, listening to his shitty car rev to life.
Yeah, Ted thinks as he starts the drive back home, Maybe I do got this.

So a lot of us are wondering why Ted and Rebecca haven’t had many scenes together or scenes alone together so far this season and there’s a few theories. As much as I’d love to say it’s just a slow burn move, I’ve been thinking about it a lot and think there’s a lot more to it.
This is in response to @dollsome-does-tumblr poll on this very question which really got me thinking. I also realised my answer was too long for a comment so made yet another post 😂
So, I keep thinking about the reason being because they’re both trying to hard to keep it together at the moment that they know (whether consciously or not) that they won’t be able to hide this from each other.
Ted is struggling with Michelle and being apart from Henry and I think is wondering what he now wants from his life. Nate pointing out that he should be with his son really hit a nerve but I think it’s also made Ted realise his life in Kansas doesn’t make sense or even exist anymore.
Similarly Rebecca is wondering what she wants from her life, hence the psychic. Being with Sam made her realise that she can and deserves to be happy but she still has a lot of healing to do before she can get there and she’s not ready to face that completely yet.
I think when they spend some proper time together, these walls they’re building to avoid fully confronting these things will come crashing down.
I also wonder if some part of each of them (again perhaps on an unconscious level) resents the other at the moment with what’s going on with Nate and Rupert. I wonder if on some level Rebecca resents that Ted didn’t see what was going on with Nate and feels like Rupert was given a win, which she hates more than anything. I think that hate is compounded with a degree of self loathing over the fact she is now back to a point of being obsessed with wanting to beat Rupert even though it had seemed she’d almost moved past this stage. I don’t for a second think she would actually believe this is Ted’s fault but emotions don’t always make sense and can be very complicated and often end up being misdirected.
I also wonder if Ted is feeling resentful that Rebecca is still determined to be at war with Rupert because the more they’re at war the more damage is done and they’ve already lost Nate. You could add to that that some part of him may now reflecting on her need for revenge being the reason he’s not with his son. Again I don’t think he truly believes this, but, emotions. But I think with Ted it’s probably more feelings of guilt around Nate and then Rebecca being hurt and reverting back to being obsessed with revenge as a consequence that may be adding to his not wanting to be alone with her and face these feelings, even if he hasn’t acknowledged that yet.
I think we all saw a lot in the scene where she asked him to fight but I think there’s a lot more under the surface of that moment that is still to come. A lot of anger, resentment, guilt, and a lot of pain. Perhaps targeted at each other on some emotional level, even though that isn’t what they actually think or believe.
I also think they’re both feeling a lot of guilt and shame. Given how he has made her feel in the past and given her experience with abuse, Rebecca may feel (however wrongly) responsible for Rupert’s actions and for him targeting Nate and feel, as I said before, ashamed that she is so focused on revenge. Again, Ted is feeling a lot of guilt and shame around Nate and hates what this has done to Rebecca as a consequence. Facing each other may mean facing this and it also means acknowledging the worst parts of themselves. It also means, showing the worst parts of themselves to the other and being as vulnerable as possible as a result, which neither of them is ready to do again yet.

I’m not entirely sure how to articulate this thought, so bear with my internet. I would like to discuss two scenes in Stranger Things.
The first is S2 E1 starting 30:50, it’s a Wheeler dinner scene and Mike is told that he needs to put together two boxes worth of things to sell at the yard sale.
When he protests it goes like this:
Mike: “I’m fine with you giving away a couple, but the other ones just have way too much emotional value”
Karen: “Emotional value?”
Ted: “They’re hunks of plastic Michael.”
As the scene goes on, we find out that they’ve already taken away his Atari, and that the reason the Wheeler parents are doing all of this is because Mike has been acting out. This scene is particularly interesting because it falls between Lucas and Dusting finding out who Max is (plot relevant) and Nancy and Steve having dinner with Barb’s parents (plot relevant), but it doesn’t appear to have any plot relevance itself. Mike’s behavior isn’t mentioned again, and the only purpose this scene seems to serve is to show that Mike is struggling without El. Or to show that the Wheeler parents don’t understand him and do not try to.
The second scene, and the one that stands in sharp contrast in my mind, is in season 4. In S4 E9 1:52:19, right before the California crew shows up at the Wheeler house, Karen brings out a box of Nancy’s old things that she found in the attic. They are packing boxes to bring to the shelter at the school. Nancy finds her childhood stuffed animal Mr. Rabbit in one of these boxes, and Karen says “It’s okay if you want to save him, you know?” She acknowledges that this toy has emotional value to Nancy, while she scoffed at the concept that Mike’s possessions might be important to him.
Obviously the context of these two scenes is very different. Mike is being punished, while Nancy is donating voluntarily. In season 4, Hawkins has just experienced a massive earthquake and I’m sure Karen is very worried. She even expresses more worry towards Mike than we have ever seen when he arrives. But there is no reason why she should not have been this sympathetic in season 2. By that point Mike had already been through some shit, and even if she did not know the full extent, she knew that Will was presumed dead and was visited by the government officials who said that he was in great danger. But in season 2, she brushes it off as “We know you’ve had a hard year, Michael, but we’ve been patient.” She acknowledges his struggles and immediately dismissed them.
And I know that comparing scenes like this gets a little iffy, and that the Duffer brothers haven’t watched season 2 in a while — hence Will’s birthday. But the one thing that stays consistent is character writing (Mike’s character is consistently written, and I will probably have to word vomit a post about it at some point). So while I doubt that these two scenes are supposed to stand in contrast, the family dynamics that they highlight do stand out, and I feel that comparing them in this way is fair game.
Which gets me to the point of my argument. So often while discussing the Wheeler parents, we focus on the differences between Ted and Karen. But they both kind of suck. More significant, I would argue, is the difference in how the parents treat Mike and Nancy. Karen especially connects with Nancy more often than she does Mike. Any heart to heart conversations that we see her have are with Nancy. Her character building is done through connecting with Nancy, most especially the scenes after Nancy is fired from the newspaper. With Mike, the only support he seems to get from his mom comes in the form of 3 hugs: after they find “Will’s” body, after the Byers’s move, and after he comes back from California. If you read the novelization Lucas on the Line, Karen tries to help Mike in his (apparent and obvious) depression by inviting Lucas and Dustin over. She plans this whole themed sleepover, but then calls her son foul to Lucas, in front of Mike. She disregards anything that is important to Mike, yet still expects him to come to her with important things. However with Nancy, she makes more of an effort. She reaches out to Nancy first, after Nancy was fired from the newspaper. Karen has to knock on Nancy’s closed door in order to have this conversation. This is a decent amount of effort put in. Karen makes the first move, whereas with Mike, she relies on him to reach out, even going so far as to stop Ted from talking to him after “Will’s body is found because “He’ll come to us when he’s ready.”
And please note: I have nothing against Nancy. I love Nancy as a character. I just think that the way the Wheeler parents, especially Karen, treat Nancy and Mike is very different and worth noting.

Hi shelssssss! 🥸
The joy I feel knowing we’re both South Africans is unreal, lmao.
Anyway, CL16 having to please himself because you’re too tired.
You came back from a very long and tiring day at work. It feels as if your entire week had felt that way, and all you want to do is lay down and unwind for the rest of your evening. Seems you completely forgot about the boy waiting for you at home.
When you get home he practically jumps on you, kisses your neck and half undressed already. But when he pulls away he immediately notices that you’re definitely not your normal self. You look exhausted and like anything and everything is bothering you. Still you give him a small smile and a hug because even in your irritable state you could never make him feel unwanted.
You notice that he was definitely expecting something intimate to happen tonight due to his greeting and state. You feel terrible having to say no but you really can’t do anything tonight. He’s surprisingly understandable but of course he still has the problem in his boxers that he expected you to take care of.
So, you suggest he takes care of it himself. And you’d be happy to let him curl up next to you while you praise him, let him suck your fingers and just hold him close. He immediately agrees.
And that’s how you now find yourself laying in your bed with him whining and basically drunk on it all. The praising, the little touches that even in your exhausted, being so close to you and of course the feeling of his hand stroking himself.
Even tired, you’d never neglect your precious boy when it comes to aftercare. You clean him up and hold him close while the both of you fall asleep. You from the exhaustion of work and him from being his needy self.
Lol 🥸
-🩻
Ok i love this ask so much?? You rarely ever hear about situations where the Dom doesn’t want to do anything, so this is good I love it so much!!! Also I can’t believe we’re both South African either, it’s always wild to see another South African anywhere online 😂
So you have a very tiring day. And normally you love coming home to Charles, and you loved it today too, but what you weren’t excited about was realising that Charles was horny.
You have to be very careful how you go about this, because you’ve worked so hard to make Charles comfortable being open with his needs with you. He no longer feels ashamed to be needy with you, to show you how hard and desperate he is, to beg openly for what he wants.
So you need to handle this carefully. Maybe this is the first time charles was been in the mood but you haven’t? And you have to figure out how to tell him.
Meanwhile, he’s whining against you, grinding against you and clinging to you. He pulls away from you, and then frowns when he sees how tired you are. He cups your jaw, pouting and asking what’s wrong. He thinks he might have done something wrong. Did he say the wrong thing? Did he hurt you? Was he too needy?
You immediately reassure him, telling him that he’s done absolutely nothing wrong. And he hasn’t. He hasn’t done anything that he doesn’t know he’s allowed to do.
You hug him tight, promising him that he’s you’re best boy and that he’s done nothing wrong. You tell him that you’re just a little tired and that you don’t think you can scene with him today.
He doesn’t even let you finish your apology before he’s shushing you and pulling you into a hug. He’s a good boy! He would never, EVER, want to make you uncomfortable.
Of course he’s a little disappointed, because he’s rock hard and needy, but he’s hats not you’re fault. And he tells you as much.
The funny thing is, Charles is so quiet and uncertain when it comes to him speaking up. But the moment you feel guilty for something like that? Well then your baby boy becomes a Ted Talk host.
He asks you if he can go jerk off in the bedroom before you join him for cuddles, because he’s still your good boy and he wants to at least have your permission.
When he suggests jerking himself off, you realise that you have the energy to just lay down with him and praise him as he makes himself feel good. In fact, nothing would make you feel better than seeing your good boy jerking himself off.
So you lay down next to him, letting him suck on your fingers as he jerks himself off. And Charles has the best time!! He gets to suck on your fingers and jerk himself off and then you start praising him and it’s just the best.
You clean him up afterwards and then it’s time for some cuddles.

Word game Wednesday! *Glances around my room wildly* cool, write, window? (I like giving three, I feel like that's good odds for at least one)
You have stumbled upon gold m’dear. Five responses below the cut.
Cool
From Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency: Todd and Amanda have their first real, big fight after they’ve reconciled.
Todd is secure enough in their relationship that he doesn’t hold himself back. From another perspective, all her time with the Rowdies has eroded Amanda’s impulse control and she carries a wand.
“Amanda, what the fuck?” Todd is trying to look at his back and see if she’s given him a tail or something. She cackled at his accurate impression of a beautiful, dumb but loving golden retriever.
“Seriously, this isn’t cool. What did you do to me?”
She answered in a syrupy sweet singsong “You’llllllll seeeeeeeeee.” The satisfaction, the peace in her soul, the way her boys and Beast will roar with laughter when she recounts this later...she should have done this the day she got a wand.
Write
1) From my constantly evolving platonic a/b/o fic, Georgie meets the gang and has a heart to heart with Ted about how long it was just her and Jamie against the world. (Also this was started before realizing that Georgie must have wanted to keep the house Jamie grew up in and they just used the right to buy scheme.) (There is also a bonus because your third word also appears in this one.)
“You know how I met Simon?” Georgie asks. She knows he doesn’t know, because before the two of them walked in, he’d only known Jamie had parents in the theoretical sense. The question itself was rhetorical, though, and if Jamie were conscious he might have something to say about all the fancy sounding words.
“When Jamie got his first few checks, he followed Pep’s suggestions to the letter. How much to save, how much to invest, what kind of early purchases were responsible splurges. Apparently everyone gets a fancy wash bag? The fuck did we know about any of that?” She snorted, hand still moving softly along her son’s upper arm. Before pointing to his crossbody bag that probably cost as much as that first bag did.
“Then he got me a fucking house. A house!!! We were in a council flat his whole life until then, and he asked what I wanted, which was for him to be secure. But he insisted, and he was going to be with me for at least 2 more years, yeah. So fuck.
And we didn’t know anything about that sort of thing, so it was Pep advising again. Which included getting all sorts of inspections and the like. After it were done, I didn’t know what kind of upkeep that means, yeah? And we were definitely the poorest family on the team, at least before then, but it weren’t like everyone were rich either. So I asked around. Couldn’t be more embarrassing than if we burned it down not knowing something normal folks do.
One of the older lads’ parents said that windows, gutters, and roofs are all things that need to be looked at kind of regularly. Which sounded mental to me, windows? But I got the number of a company and sort of threw myself on their mercy. And they sent Simon round, right?”
And Ted sort of nodded, because she obviously meant to be agreed with, regardless of how only the three of them could have known that.
“And he said to me that everything was new enough the only way I’d need to replace the windows was if I didn’t like something about the ones already there. Or wanted to remodel. We picked the damned thing out because we already liked it as it were.
But I appreciated he didn’t try to con me into something just to make a sale, and asked if he knew much about all the ins and outs of home repair. He said he did, and I offered to make him supper if he could help me write everything down so I wouldn’t miss a trick.
Had Jamie when I were only 16, so I didn’t finish school or nothing, and some men like to make you feel stupid for not knowing what they know. But not Simon. He were sweet to me. And Jamie were the only other person who’d ever had anything nice to say about me cooking. So he were two-fer-two on being respectful.
I waited about a month and then called him up to ask about plumbing or something. Can’t remember now, it was mostly just a chance to talk to him again. And we were married by the time Jamie were done with academy.”
2) And from the investigative journalist fic:
“I only had one coach I ever thought maybe I could talk to about how bad me brain sometimes got. Tried to even.”
“How did that go?”
“Said I couldn’t train cause I were hurt, guess I didn’t realize that’s not the word you use when its something inside who you are.”
“You didn’t get a chance to explain?”
“No, not really. Started yelling at me, cause he thought I were throwing a strop.”
“But if you’d cut him off-“
“That’s just it though. Da’ got me all trained up in that being a dangerous fucking thing to do. Interrupting a man what has power over you. When they’re already angry? So the same thing that happens when me da gets like that happened.”
“And that is?”
“Whatever makes me…me? Just slips away for a bit.”
“You dissociate?”
“Fuck, that’s the word! Me therapist used it the other day and I meant to write it down. D’ya mind?”
Window
1) From a DGHDA fic where a boobytrap hits Todd with a curse. Within this you get to see my greatest party trick, where I mean to look something up and put a placeholder in the spot. (Also I do not remember what I was planning with the idea of Loki’s Marble because so far as I know I entirely made that concept up lmao).
He didn’t stir even a little bit while getting him into the backseat, where they had him slump against the door to stay mostly upright. At least Farah was well practice in getting a seatbelt on a passed out Dirk or Todd. Dirk would have climbed in after him, but Farah needed him to navigate them out of the forest. They were barely out of the dense forest area, back to roads that saw regular upkeep, when they heard Todd groan. Farah pulled off to the side, at a convenient scenic overlook with a little clearing for travelers to park. She and Dirk both turned in their seats to see him blinking owlishly and then put his hand to his head.
“Hey, how you feeling Todd?” Farah asked, keeping her voice low in case he had a headache.
He looked up at her curiously, and then looked out the window before whipping his head back to stare at them.
“Whe’we?” He tiredly slurred out. Farah and Dirk exchanged concerned glances. But they turned back and Dirk quietly said, “Just outside of BLANK forest.”
“Why?”
“Do you...not remember us looking for Loki’s marble?” He tried to keep the worry out of his voice but Dirk’s eyes were wild when he looked at Farah. She didn’t look happy but also didn’t seem quite as concerned as Dirk. But it did sound like Todd might have a concussion.
2) Also from something I just shared the other day. Season 1 Jamie exchanges himself for Phoebe’s safety and is being held hostage.
“He received this text at 7:18pm” and the screen showed a mocked up phone, enlarged, and with a click of a button, a photo appeared in the message field.
“It was from a number not saved in his phone, and traced to a woman in Poland. She has been cleared, so we suspect a skimmer was used to create a false number.”
The image was of Phoebe sitting at the dining room table of her home with Roy’s sister. It was taken through the front window into the room and had a crosshairs image over it.

What Does The Ted Lasso Show Say That Queerness Means?
The one writing decision from this past episode I actually have criticism of is Colin’s morning with his boyfriend, and how having Colin queerness being almost the sole new information and dimension of Colin’s character relayed to the audience in this scene results in an unfortunately narrow focus on the logistical implications of Colin’s queerness.
I also think the scene needed to be more funny. Perhaps this reads very different to people not intensely offput by embarrassment based comedy, but there is a lot of drama going on in this episode, and meeting Colin and his boyfriend is one of the few places to inject some levity. Other past dramedies like BoJack Horseman thrive when the highest heights of comedy allow them to delve deeper when it’s time to examine the darker subject matter.
Ted Lasso is a show with a lot of instantly charismatic and lovable characters. Michael is not one of those. He’s not drastically behind the introductions of other love interests of established characters like Bex or Mrs. Higgins in terms of what his material has to offer, but he’s at a disadvantage by being in a much more tension creating episode, and by currently making up one half of the only subplot exploring queerness in the show.
Part of the difficulty is I’m unclear as to how much the show wants us to like Michael. The little information we get is hard to interpret. How serious and intimate of a partner to Colin are we supposed to read Michael?
On the one hand, he’s on the level of familiarity where he knows Colin is a shit driver. Colin knows he’s going to Dubai and the two of them making plans for after he gets back. There’s also Colin, even though done covertly, choosing to introduce him to the team. All this points to them being a serious long term thing.
On the other hand, we are shown him not remembering Colin’s preference not to drink caffeine, and not knowing anything about football. which is Colin’s job.
It’s not a bad idea for Colin to have a relationship founded on grounds completely separated from anything to do with football. It could showing how distant these two spheres of his life are, how being closeted forces these segments of his life apart. Except the episode will go on to show Michael being introduced to the team. Even though there is secrecy, there is overlap in these parts of Colin’s life.
Then there’s the information, or rather lack of information, this opening scene gives us about Colin.
We open on Colin, indicating that this is an episode, or at least a scene, that is going to bring a new level of focus to what has up until now a minor background character. The implication is that there will be a chance to see Colin in a new light or learn some information that hasn’t had time to surface when he’s serving as support in scenes where someone else is the main character.
Colin wakes up and feels at an empty side of the bed, so people paying close attention learn that Colin has a partner. He goes downstairs and there’s a man in his kitchen in just a robe. So we learn that his partner is Michael and also they definitely fucked last night. Good job Colin!
We learn Colin doesn’t consume caffeine, which is new information, but it’s hard to feel that because it’s not unexpected or adding anything major to a more complete picture of Colin. We already know Colin is an athlete, it makes sense that he takes care for what he takes into his body.
Colin makes one of the only lines that counts as a joke, a self deprecating comment about how even though he drinks caffeine his body is still cheap real estate. Colin is self deprecating! We will come back to this point later.
Michael doesn’t know about football, does know about Zava, and is going to Dubai and coming back and will text Colin when he does. The last two are important for the plot of the episode. Knowing this is Zava’s first day is going to help the audience be ready when it comes time to transition to the next scene, and knowing that when Colin texts Michael it means Michael is back in the country and available to physically meet up is information that helps orient the audience when Michael shows up to be introduced to the team at the restaurant. This scene is thought out and well formulated when it comes to how it fits into the logical progression of the events of the episode.
We end with a repeat of the gag where Colin can’t drive, which the audience already knew, but Michael knows it too. Also, Colin is still doing his affirmations. He knocks over the trash cans, cue joke about that being me cause I’m trash for this show despite where this analysis is going, and we end the scene.
The surprising hidden traits of Colin’s personality we learn is that mostly there aren’t any. He is, with the exception of being queer, exactly what would be expected. Footballer, bad driver, Welsh.
Probably this is intended to be grounding. It’s meant to show that Colin is the same person as he was before we the audience were explicitly told he was queer. Ted Lasso is also a show that worships continuity, which means it’s a show that’s deep in love with the callback.
But it’s also a scene whose sole main purpose is to convey that Colin is queer. Colin’s queerness is given massive importance to the exclusion of all other character traits we could have found out in this scene.
And because Colin’s existence outside his queerness is so narrowly defined, the range of interpretations for what his queerness means, both personally and for the thematic arguments of the text, are similarly narrowly defined. The main way in which the show and its audience engages with Colin’s queerness is in its relation to the plot. The focus is on the threat of how Colin is at risk of being outed.
Colin queerness is something that he has to hide. It makes him different. It’s a secret that he lives with the constant threat of being found out. That accounts for the whole of what it is.
It’s telling that on tumblr, the weird little ship and romance loving website that would have loved Michael even if he had the personality of a dried up sponge propped up by a couple of wooden toothpicks, and even still, most of the commentary I saw after this had to do with the threat of Colin being outed.
I’ll disclose also a great deal of personal distaste for the topic of outing. I would love an indirect and less loaded with which way to engage with Colin’s queerness.
As it stands, I will say this: part of the queer experience is fear. But fear is not the whole of the queer experience. My queer identity is something that brings me great joy. And that joy also feeds back into the precise make up of what makes being violently kicked out of the closet so terrifying.
Colin does seem to enjoy being with Michael, but the writing doesn’t push this far enough to give an obvious tie in metaphorical meaning to the themes of the show.
Imagine if we had, for instance, learned that Colin is an unexpectedly caring or responsible partner or that he’s extremely goofy when he’s in a romantic relationship. Then part of the secret isn’t his identity, it’s also his passion and his happiness.
Colin being a closeted queer man who has to hide the ways in which he is romantic or soft would be an excellent way to use his plot line to support the shows themes and examination of toxic masculinity. There’s been commentary decoding the symbolic meaning of Colin as a chameleon and a camo wearer, as someone who has to hide and conform to his circumstances. This would be a more strongly evident character trait if Colin had more aspects of his personality he felt he was forced into hiding.
Let’s reimagine a different way the scene could tell us Colin doesn’t drink caffeine. Ideally, in a way that’s funny. There’s a version of this scene where Colin walks into the kitchen, drinks, and then spits out the coffee. Haha, also Michael is someone Colin feels comfortable being exuberantly expressive around. Or one where he keeps drinking and Michael is like Oh my god! I’m so sorry! I forgot you don’t drink coffee, stop it, you don’t have to drink something you don’t like! Haha, Michael is someone who knows Colin’s taste in men and coffee, but Colin still struggles with the instinct to hide his preferences. Or imagine a version where Colin successfully hides his reaction of disgust and discreetly spits out the coffee into the sink. Haha, Michael is oblivious and also even with another queer man, Colin is masking his true self. Instead Colin just tells us he’s off the caffeine, a no stakes relaying of trivia with no working metaphorical layer.
As it stands, the closest we get in the opening scene is Colin’s self deprecating joke. I would love to read this as Colin uncomfortable with ego or attention. As needing to deflect when Michael calls his body a temple. Perhaps Colin has grown uncomfortable with the idea of being an attraction when he needs to be part of the background, the way a mall shop would be. But as it stands I think that’s me putting meaning into the text as opposed to receiving the material the way it’s meant to be delivered.
Colin’s queerness and its meaning are so tightly tied to the ways in which it introduces conflict and danger for the character and the plot. And Colin’s is the only plotline that explores queer identity. Indeed, if Trent turns out to be queer as fans have theorized, then it feels like reason that hasn’t been made explicitly textual is for the purpose of creating suspense at the end of episode three. Ted Lasso has a bunch of characters outside of the football players that could be used to, if not construct a meaning of queerness outside ostracism and fear, remind us that queer people exist. One of the pub fans, one of the management. As it stands, they’ve put all their eggs in one basket. Which means that they’ve only themselves to blame if it means that they fail to deliver.
I don’t think this is a complete failure. But I think it feels like an overwhelmingly straight show, one capable of the purest heights of joy and comedy, is writing about the queer experience as if its sole meaning were tragedy. It’s not only inauthentic, its painful.

i’m gonna reel off some (1 or 2 all in all) academic hcs to do with sam winchester bc im literally in my academic weapon (victim) era rn so yars #academia
anyways i feel like the two of u would study separately most times bc when together u guys either make out, have sex, talk, laugh and eat and nothing studying wise actually happens and there’s definitely been times when a piece of work one or the other has got torn because it was either laid on or stood on and there was a lot of movement during.
but the rare occasions you guys do study together he quizzes you on whatever u need quizzing on and he ends up asking how’s that professor bc he promised something to that prof but ur like “stfu sidetracking” and he kisses u every time you get something right. also lowk believe he’d do the classic “if u get something wrong u hv to strip n vice versa” (obvs if ur comfortable with that!!) but yeah it’s funny bc sometimes you or him might get something very obvious wrong and you guys js laugh abt it so yeah.
but yeah he js loves u, ur the love of his life n pitbull doesn’t start singing fireball while ur on the ceiling. but yeah u and him get married in italy where padmé and anakin got married at the end of AOTC (sam loves star wars) and yeah u guys don’t (or do) have lil smarty pants babies and yars (i feel like giving birth to sam’s child would hurt if ur like a lot smaller than him)
anyways true the story the end thanks for listening to my ted talk

AUGH SORRY IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO GET TO THIS T^T (finals was an actual bitch to get through)
ughh no i love academic/stanford sam hcs because im in my college era and desperately need standford sam soo badly loll
yeah no you guys need to study separately because NOTHING would get done if the aim is to actually learn and revise what you wrote down during your lectures. LMAO yeah your books and assignments were not safe if you guys were studying on the already small bed and sam so happened wanted to kiss your cheek but then you turned your head and caught his lips with yours and it devolved into a makeout session without any clothes on... oops!
but yes on the rare occasions that you do actually study together, he's very helpful with revisions but does get sidetracked and you have to snap your fingers at him with a small laugh to stop asking you questions that aren't on the flashcards lol. UGH yes to the trope of reward or strip while studying and it becomes a little game for the two of you but then sometimes it ends up with both of your clothes off and studying doesn't resume for the rest of the night >:) but also sam is so silly and would try and get something wrong so he can get out of his shirt and let you stare at him (he won't admit it but he loves it when you get flustered at the sight of him)
no because i love loverboy/lovesick sammy so much it actually hurts me to my core LOL and yes i could see sam eloping with his partner and living out the dream of getting married where anakin and padme did (i wholeheartedly agree with that headcanon of him liking star wars because hes a NERD but my nerd <3) and he dreams of having a family with you but if you don't want kids he respects that but if you guys do have kids and you're smaller than him it would be a harder birth since he's a giant and his kids would get those genes as well LMAO
#chatting with my lovies <3#on a side note#IVE MISSED YOU 💽 ANON#SORRY IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO GET YOUR ASKS#FINALS ALMOST WIPED ME OUT#💽 anon !#anon ask !#yapping about sammy#sammy my boy#sam winchester
