The way so many of the characters this episode had story beats dealing with their inner child was something so powerful to see:
Roy receives an endearingly childish shirt from his niece, which he wears and is then told that he looks happier than ever in it — and then proceeds to tell Keeley how he feels in said shirt
Rebecca is about to have a panic attack, visualizes her inner child in her place, and then works herself through the anxiety, choosing to go to the meeting because that child deserves to stand up for herself
Nate looks through his childhood things, plays the violin, and learns that all along his dad was really proud of him and just wanted him to be happy — and then he does a kind gesture for Will
Keeley reminds Rebecca that all of the men in the meeting were once little boys, and like the mirror scene, this allows her to appeal to the boys inside all of those men as she stands up to them
At one point or another, each of the characters were just kids who had all these hopes and dreams, but life happens and we all deal with shit, but by confronting the wounds they faced in their childhood and healing their inner child — the characters are allowed to grow and move on

people saying in the tags of that poll that they actually *want* a musical episode in s4 I think you guys are very brave... at this point I wouldn't be surprised if letting Rebecca sing at least once per season is written in Hannah's contract. Phil just did Oklahoma. This show already lovessss doing team song and dance numbers. the threat of a musical episode is not merely theoretical it is possible and imminent. i am scared.

Nate had so much pressure put on him and he went out in the world looking for what he never got from his dad and he was bullied at worst and infantilized at best by the people that were supposed to be his team.. He was trying so hard and had so many talents but didn't believe in himself enough to let them show... He would spit on his reflection for confidence because deep down he couldn't let go of the idea that he wasn't good enough... The superiority/inferiority complex of it all... He snapped and tried to take Ted down and betrayed the team and went to West Ham... Just to look for his father's love in Rupert... And tried so hard to give him the benefit of the doubt because if the one person who would take him seriously turned out to be terrible, what did that say about him??? And because he needed that validation so bad!!! Even if he saw the error of his ways. But when he had to choose between it and someone he loved he couldn't do it. He quit his job and the field he's been into for several years at least, the one who brought him success, and felt as if he lost part of himself. He didn't get that validation at home and getting it professionally would mean compromising himself even more and sinking deeper and deeper. Feeling like there was no place in the world for him.... The depression naps, not shaving, just sleeping in his bed. He didn't know if there was anything else for him out there to cling to. But he re-discovered a version of him that was just for himself by playing the violin... Because he didn't care about being good, he just wanted to play. Finally getting that love and support from his father, who made mistakes but only wanted the best for him... and being able to let go of his resentment, his hatred of himself and the boxes he put himself in... Realizing that he's always been everything he ever needed

I feel like this show is going to end with a bunch of people who have some resolution to their stories, but are ultimately, left as works in progress who have been deeply effected by their proximity to Ted Lasso the man — and take that into their separate lives and are better people for knowing him, who just by virtue of being close to his radical kindness and forgiveness and support system, are people who will be willing and able to pay that forward in a real, meaningful way in whatever way they choose to interact with the world.

It’s about closure, it’s about emotional vulnerability, it’s about confronting the past, it’s about facing your own feelings, it’s about hating dress shoes

Forever grateful to bex on the doorstep for the last-minute save of my 'rebecca will become mother to bex's baby' theory which had been languishing in the wilderness for like 10 episodes
(But miss kakes was there too so maybe there's also a possibility she's pregnant and rebecca will adopt her baby??)

@obstinatecondolement APROPOS OUR CONVERSATION WE'RE AT THE SCENE IN SEASON ONE WHERE JAMIE COMES BY TO SEE KEELEY AND ROY OPENS THE DOOR IN HIS T-SHIRT AND UNDERWEAR
AND ROY MADE KEELEY COFFEE WHILE JAMIE BROUGHT HER COFFEE
stops all-capsing here, but they're doing this for her, and she's still having to manage the space/be mediator/be in charge of the situation/play Mommy
somethingsomething keeley coming to all those football matches that she admits she didn't even care much about in order to support her boyfriends vs. where she's at in s3 and whether they can finally be there for her....

not to be a bummer cause i love that people are stoked for ted lasso season 4 but my prediction is that it's going to be bad lol. like we already ended the whole series, everyone's arcs are pretty much wrapped up, where are they gonna go with it? i think when people think they'll get in ted lasso season 4, they'll actually get from fanfiction

“The poor stay poor, the rich get rich That's how it goes Everybody knows” is a REALLY concerning way to close this episode with Trent seeing Colin with Michael I’m REALLY concerned about how this’ll play out with Trent’s book and all I HAVE to trust that he’s learned his lesson from Roy and Ted

Also please nobody take this as like a serious complaint or critique of the show, yes I know there have been other important arcs happening the last few episodes and yes I do know this is just the caveman self-fulfillment fangirl part of my brain speaking, but I desperately miss Roy/Jamie scenes and I am also sad we didn't get any extension on Jamie/Keeley friendship era this week and I am still waiting on a Roy/Keeley(/Jamie) reckoning and there has frankly just not been enough Jamie in general !!
