🎃🧟Happy Halloween 👻 🎃

Ka’s usually not the type to go all-out on Halloween, but he found himself charmed by the idea of dressing up as a monster not known for their speed. With a foam brain in his hand and a smile full of (fake) blood, he’s sure to turn heads at this year’s multi-park Halloween party!

Though, this art is not all I have for today…keep reading for a frightful tale!

Following breakfast, Ka had made himself scarce— though most didn’t realize it until Green Lantern requested their attention.

“Ka wants us to meet at the Golden Kingdom for…reasons”.

Nitro was immediately suspicious; “Why just “reasons”?”

“He wants it to be a surprise”.

She (and the rest of the Great Adventure crew) would be greeted with a large wooden box when they arrived at the Golden Kingdom. Claw marks dotted the front, and a gray tarp covered the top.

“Can’t believe bro is announcing his death like this…”

Harley punched Joker in the arm, who let out a soft “ow” in response.

Nitro nervously glanced at Batman, who gently squeezed her hand.

“I’m sure all of you are aware of that rumor…”

Ka’s voice echoed, a hint of artificial distortion apparent.

“Things have only become more grim as the temperatures cool— even those outside of enthusiast circles are aware of my coaster’s supposed demise. Some say I have a year to live, others think I’ll croak by mid-November. Still, my coaster continues to operate during this Fright Fest run, unreliability and all”.

“As the man behind the coaster, it’s been an odd experience for me these past few weeks. Humans are “paying their respects” as they wait in line. Crying out about how they’ll miss me as they’re launched up into the top hat. Taking photos of my entrance, as if they need to “keep the memory alive”.

“Yet, the park stays silent. Is their refusal to speak on the matter an admission of the truth, or a disinterest in entertaining a falsehood? The backlash would be immense, but the worst thing they could do is deny people their last rides”.

“Intamin has long discontinued my model, as even they know of the Hydraulic launch’s fatal flaws. Ever since, I have been living on borrowed time— and if the rumor is true, I am quickly running out of it. One might even say that I’m…”

Ka finally revealed himself to the crowd, as it quickly became apparent why he had kept himself away from his neighbors.

“…a dead man walking.”

Ka squeezed the foam brain tightly, with fake blood erupting from a hidden capsule. His smile was stained with food-safe ichor, letting it drip down from his chin.

Nitro put a hand on her chest; “Oh thank god, you’re just getting into the Halloween spirit. You really had me worried there!”

“That just means I put on a good performance”, Ka said with a hint of amusement. “Though I must thank Green Lantern— she was the one who refined my script…and my makeup”.

“Ah, I should’ve known the moment she was the one who brought us here. Nice costume, by the way!”

“Thanks”, Green Lantern replied. “I didn’t just want to copy Ka’s zombie thing, but I figured I should stick to the whole “dead” theme. I decided on a decaying doll haunted by the spirit of a young girl. Y’know, because everyone’s saying that my coaster’s getting scrapped too”.

Superman jumped in to the conversation; “Well, there’s no way they’d be closing both of your coasters this year…though I personally think that the humans are making a mountain out of a mole-hill”.

“That’s precisely why I’ve decided to dress up this year, Superman— to show them what I’d look like if I were actually dead. Who says I can’t have a bit of fun once in a while?”

“Well, with all that detail in your makeup, you’ll fit right in with the human haunt actors. Your stature alone would grab our guests’ attention!”

“I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I think I’ll just keep this between us Coasterdroids. I know some of you take the opportunity to walk amongst the humans during Fright Fest, but I have enough attention on me right now”.

“Aw, but dontcha’ want to meet your fans?” Jersey Devil Coaster popped in-between the two. “Ever since those rumors gained traction, you and Greenie have been the talk of the town— and the park’s silence is just stoking the flames! Your queues are only gonna get longer from here, and it’ll make the humans spend all their money on Ka merch!”

He leaned in towards Ka.

“You’re welcome, by the way”. JDC looked at him, smugly.

It didn’t take long for Ka to realize the implications.

“Wait…WHAT?!”

Silly (non-canon) story time…

Batman, Skull Mountain, Superman, Toro and Joker go on a “guys trip”. Not wanting to rely on taxis or a ride-hailing app, the group decides to rent a car.

At the car rental place, Toro has to deal with an issue relating to the group’s chosen accommodation— he leaves the rest of the group to choose their car, confident that they’ll pick something within the budget.

Ultimately, the group is able to secure a car for a relatively cheap price; it’s a fairly new car, so it has the usual modern safety features and phone connectivity. Toro is happy to recieve a text from Batman that states these things— but Batman crucially doesn’t say what kind of car it is. This is deliberate on his part, and the group knows that Toro is gonna chew them out for it (of course, Joker finds this hilarious and struggles not to burst out laughing when he hears Toro approaching). “Sounds like you guys found a good car, I’m so glad we’ll be able to drive around without having nothing left to spend-“

Toro gets a good look at the car.

“You MOTHERFUCKERS!”

It’s a red Kia Soul.

Needless to say, Toro despises every second he has to spend in the car that inspired the park to wrap a gaudy advertisement over his coaster’s “B” train for over a decade.

Let’s get back to the Great Adventure AU designs! This week, we have The Joker as “Total Mayhem”. For those unaware, this S&S 4D Freespin was announced as “Total Mayhem” in 2015, sporting a black/orange/red color scheme and essentially had no theme. However, Great Adventure decided in early 2016 to retheme the ride to The Joker, the coaster now spotting a green/purple/black color scheme. This design is a more noticablw change compared to previous AU designs I’ve showcased. Since TM didn’t really have a theme, I decided to give him a “casual” pirate outfit based on the vague aquatic/pirate theme that the area the coaster is in (Lakefront). TM is quite similar to his canonical persona, still winning over Blackbeard (who keeps her original name and design), being engrossed in “meme culture”, and graffiti-ing shitposts to the sides of building for his amusement. The only difference is that he only has a passing knowledge of the world of DC comics (but still likes to get on Batman’s nerves— TM likes annoying the ppl he knows he can get a rise out of).

With the recent announcement of “The Flash: Vertical Velocity” on his mind, Joker has already come up with a way to mess with the ride’s associated Coasterdroid.

“Hey Harley-- You’d know what would be funny?”

“What?”

“When Flash opens, we should give them a baby doll to hold”.

Harley smirks, knowing where this is heading.

“What are they going to do with the baby?”

“Well, I don’t know if you can believe it…but we’re gonna ask them to place the baby in a microwave!”

Joker can’t stop himself from laughing.

“Best part is-- they’ll have NO idea what they’re doing! The look on their face is gonna be epic!”

“Actually,” Skull Mountain interrupts; Joker and Harley turn their attention to him.

“Wouldn't it be funnier if they had seen the movie beforehand? That they were in on the joke?”

“Nah, man! That would ruin the whole point. It’s funny because it’s unexpected!”

“I feel like they won’t be as endeared to you two as you think they will after this stunt”.

“Oh, we’re not doing this to endear them to us-- it’s just to amuse us. Mostly me”.

Skull Mountain is unimpressed; “Yeah, I figured so-- why did I even try to help?”
