Forex Robots for Automated Trading: Leverage Technology for Success
How to Leverage Forex Robots for Automated Trading
Automated trading has revolutionized the forex market, and Forex Robots for Automated Trading are at the heart of this transformation. These advanced tools, also known as Expert Advisors (EAs), provide traders with the ability to execute trades automatically based on pre-programmed strategies, removing emotional biases and allowing for 24/7 trading.
In this article, we'll explore what Forex Robots are, how they work, and how you can leverage them to enhance your trading experience.
What Are Forex Robots?
Forex robots are computer programs that use algorithms to automate the trading process. These robots are designed to analyze market conditions, identify trading opportunities, and execute trades automatically without human intervention. By relying on a set of rules and strategies, Forex robots can process vast amounts of data quickly, making them ideal for traders who want to automate their trading strategies and maximize their efficiency.
There are many types of Forex robots, ranging from simple ones that follow basic technical indicators to more complex ones that incorporate machine learning and artificial intelligence to adapt to market conditions.
Why Use Forex Robots for Automated Trading?
24/7 Trading The forex market operates 24 hours a day, five days a week, which means opportunities for profitable trades can arise at any time. Forex robots allow traders to take advantage of these opportunities by trading around the clock without the need for constant monitoring.
Eliminate Emotional Trading One of the biggest challenges for traders is overcoming emotional biases that can lead to impulsive decisions. Forex robots follow strict rules and algorithms, eliminating emotions like fear and greed from the trading process.
Consistency Forex robots execute trades consistently and without deviation from the trading strategy. This ensures that trades are carried out according to plan, reducing the risk of costly mistakes.
Speed and Efficiency The speed at which Forex robots can analyze data and execute trades is unparalleled. While human traders may take several minutes to make decisions, a robot can process market conditions and open or close a position in a matter of milliseconds.
How Do Forex Robots Work?
Forex robots work based on pre-defined algorithms and technical indicators, which are designed by experienced traders or developers. These robots are programmed to follow a set of rules that define when to enter or exit a trade, how much to invest, and how to manage risk. Here's a breakdown of how Forex robots function:
Market Analysis The robot continuously monitors the market, analyzing data such as price action, trend patterns, support and resistance levels, and other technical indicators like moving averages or RSI (Relative Strength Index). It uses this data to identify potential entry and exit points.
Trade Execution Once the robot identifies a trade signal, it executes the trade automatically. This eliminates the need for manual intervention, ensuring that opportunities are seized in real-time.
Risk Management Many Forex robots are programmed with risk management features, such as stop-loss and take-profit orders, which help to protect your capital by closing trades when they reach certain predetermined levels. Some robots even use trailing stops, which adjust the stop-loss as the trade moves in your favor.
Backtesting Most Forex robots allow for backtesting, meaning traders can test the robot on historical data to evaluate its effectiveness. This helps traders refine their strategies before deploying them in live markets.
Types of Forex Robots
There are several types of Forex robots available to traders, each with its strengths and weaknesses. Understanding the different types of robots can help you choose the one that best fits your trading style and goals.
Trend Following Robots These robots are designed to identify and capitalize on long-term trends in the market. They typically use indicators like moving averages or trend lines to detect whether the market is trending upwards or downwards. Trend-following robots are ideal for traders who want to profit from market momentum.
Scalping Robots Scalping robots are designed for traders who wish to make small, quick profits from minor price movements. These robots typically focus on short-term charts and make many trades throughout the day, aiming to capture small profits from each one.
Range-Bound Robots Range-bound robots are programmed to trade within a specific price range. They buy when the price is low and sell when it is high, often using oscillators like RSI or Stochastic to identify overbought or oversold conditions.
News-Based Robots These robots focus on market-moving news events. They analyze economic data releases and news reports to make trading decisions based on anticipated market reactions. News-based robots are fast and require access to real-time data feeds to be effective.
Benefits of Using Forex Robots for Automated Trading
1. Increased Efficiency and Productivity
Forex robots can process and analyze data far quicker than humans, enabling traders to execute trades that would otherwise be missed. Automated trading also frees up time for traders to focus on other tasks or strategy development.
2. Diversification
By using multiple robots with different strategies, traders can diversify their portfolios and reduce the risk associated with a single trading approach. This helps to balance risk and reward across different market conditions.
3. Backtesting Capabilities
Forex robots allow traders to backtest their strategies using historical data. This helps identify the most profitable strategies and improve them before applying them in a live market.
4. Customizable Parameters
Many Forex robots come with customizable settings, allowing traders to adjust parameters such as stop-loss, take-profit, risk tolerance, and trade frequency. This flexibility makes it easy to tailor the robot to specific trading preferences.
5. Reduce Human Error
Human traders can make mistakes due to fatigue, stress, or distractions. Forex robots, however, can execute trades with precision, ensuring that strategies are followed without deviation or error.
How to Leverage Forex Robots for Success
To leverage Forex robots for success, it's essential to follow best practices that ensure their effectiveness. Here are some steps to get started:
1. Choose the Right Forex Robot
Choosing the right Forex robot is crucial to your success. Make sure to research different robots and select one that aligns with your trading style and goals. Look for robots with positive reviews, proven track records, and reliable customer support.
2. Start with a Demo Account
Before using a Forex robot with real money, test it on a demo account to assess its performance. This will help you understand how the robot works, familiarize yourself with its interface, and adjust its settings to match your trading preferences.
3. Optimize Risk Management
Effective risk management is essential when using Forex robots. Ensure that the robot is programmed with appropriate risk management features such as stop-loss and take-profit orders. Keep your risk per trade at a level you are comfortable with and ensure the robot can manage risks automatically.
4. Monitor Robot Performance
Even though Forex robots can trade on their own, it's important to monitor their performance periodically. Track the profits and losses over time, and make adjustments to the strategy if needed. Regular monitoring ensures that the robot remains aligned with market conditions and trading goals.
5. Stay Updated on Market Conditions
The forex market is dynamic and can change rapidly. Ensure that your Forex robot is regularly updated to incorporate new market data, economic events, and technical indicators. Staying informed helps the robot adapt to changing market conditions.
Conclusion
Forex Robots for Automated Trading offer traders a powerful way to automate their trading strategies, minimize emotional biases, and optimize performance. By choosing the right robot, testing it on a demo account, and using proper risk management, traders can significantly enhance their trading experience. If you’re looking to take your trading to the next level, leveraging the power of Forex robots is a smart and efficient way to do so.
Whether you're a seasoned trader or just starting out, these automated tools can help you make informed decisions and execute trades with precision, giving you a competitive edge in the fast-paced forex market.

you know what really grinds my gears?
okay, bear with me: so as you may know, harry houdini and arthur conan doyle were friends, at least for a while.
by the early 1920s, both arthur conan doyle and acd's wife jean, aka lady doyle, believed whole-heartedly in spiritualism, talking to ghosts and all of that. (sidenote: this was of course right on the heels of a devastating world war and a devastating pandemic, both of which had created a huge population of grieving people, so spiritualism was having a moment.)
lady doyle sincerely thought she had the ability to go into a trance state and pass along messages in writing from the dead. she offered to do this for houdini. houdini agreed.
lady doyle attempted to channel houdini's late mother. she basically drew a cross at the top of the paper and filled it with generic platitudes addressed to "harry." houdini's mom was jewish and didn't talk like that, so houdini knew the jig was up, even if lady doyle didn't. but not wanting to make the situation awkward, he kind of went along with it to their faces.
then acd decided to publish a glowing account of the seance, and since both he and houdini were super famous, it got a lot of attention, and letters started pouring in for houdini, asking if this was true. ultimately, houdini couldn't lie about it. so he essentially said, like, "yeah, i think lady doyle THINKS she can talk to ghosts but she absolutely can't." and it ruined his friendship with acd forever.
and then of course a lot of the people running seances weren't even well-intentioned like lady doyle, they were just simple charlatans taking advantage of traumatized people mourning loved ones. in houdini's youth, he and his wife had traveled the carnival circuit where he did an act pretending to commune with spirits, so he knew all the tricks of the trade AND he had lingering guilt over having done this, AND he was infuriated by this increasingly popular wave of con artists so he decided to assemble a team of anti-grifting grifters and together they went on the road exposing whichever spiritualists were preying on the locals.
houdini's best agent was a young woman named rose mackenberg, who donned disguises to visit the fraud de jour and then importantly sussed out what non-supernatural thing was actually happening, and then houdini would demonstrate the techniques onstage to packed audiences.
(if you want to know more, check out episode 175, "ghost racket crusade" of the podcast Criminal or read Tony Wolf's book The Real-Life Ghostbusting Adventures of Rose Mackenberg.)
but yeah, what really gets my goat is that all this happened and as far as i know, we still don't have like four seasons of a Leverage-style historical procedural about rose mackenberg and the rest of the crew having adventures in the 1920s as they unmask craven hucksters all over the united states. (what we do have, apparently, is one season of a show called "houdini and doyle" which is about the oddball friendship of two contrasting men solving sometimes-actually-supernatural mysteries, and whose premise does i think at the very least a real disservice to houdini's whole quest and also totally erases rose, who is arguably the most interesting part of this story to me.)
i am just steamed about this. steamed.

Today on the second advent and door no. 8 we have a lovely pair, La Grace and Shtandart
More about them here:
La Grace is a replica of a historic tall ship from the 18th century that will sail the seven seas like the original ship 300 years ago. The aim of the project is to give anyone interested the opportunity to sail a historic ship as part of the Navy's training programme and to share the proud traditions of sailing.
The brig was built between 2008 and 2010 by a group of volunteers from the Czech Republic and Slovakia in an Egyptian shipyard in Suez using traditional craft techniques. The brig was designed by its owners (Josef Dvorsky and Daniel Rosecky) according to technical drawings published in 1768 in the Architectura navalis mercatoria by the Swedish admiral Fredrik Henrik af Chapman.
According to available sources, the original La Grace was a ship owned by the first Czech naval captain Augustin Herrman, a famous navigator in Czech history. He sailed across the Atlantic in the service of the Dutch West India Company. After leaving the company, he commanded the small privateer ship La Grace. This relatively weak and vulnerable ship with six cannons brought large quantities of captured Spanish galleons to New Amsterdam every year.
The Shtandart is a replica of an 18th century frigate. The original was the first frigate built at the Olonez shipyard under Peter the Great and the first ship to be commissioned as a frigate for the Baltic Fleet. During the Great Northern War, Tsar Peter succeeded in conquering the area that would later become St Petersburg on the Neva. With the conquest of the fortress of Nöteborg in 1702, Lake Ladoga was removed from Swedish control and the Tsar hoped to gain access to Finland. The aim of these endeavours was to gain access to the Baltic Sea in order to establish a port city there for trade and naval purposes.
The frigate was built from 1702 at the Olonez shipyard on the Lodejner Feld on the River Swir near Lake Ladoga, where it was given its name in reference to the newly introduced Russian naval flag, a standard. Tsar Peter personally transferred the ship to the Baltic Sea in 1703. When seven Swedish ships of the line, five frigates and other small ships attacked the mouth of the Neva in June 1705, eight Russian frigates, presumably including the Schandart, lay behind a barrage of trees. In 1712 and 1713, she took part in troop landings in Swedish Finland near Vyborg. No further use is mentioned after this action. The ship was decommissioned as unserviceable in 1718. In 1723, the ship was scrapped in St. Petersburg.
According to another version, Tsar Peter had ordered the Schandart to be preserved as a reminder of the beginnings of the Russian fleet. Tsarina Catherine I ordered the condition of the Petrine ships to be examined in 1727. However, the Shtandart broke up while trying to take her out of the water.
As a result of the sanctions against Russia following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Russian ships are denied access to European ports. However, following a request from the Président des Amis des Grands Voiliers association to the French Secretary of State, the Shtandart was granted permission to call at French and Spanish ports and has remained there ever since. There are plans to put her under the French flag, as her captain strongly distances themselves from Russia.

Danny's Medical Complications
Or: I had an idea and it won’t leave (and unfortunately I can’t do dialogue to save my life)
It started simple enough, a quick visit to Frostbite for a general checkup. And then it kept going. New machines, techniques, people, and an increasingly worried yeti was starting to freak Danny out a bit. Eventually it all went away and Frostbite set him down for A Talk.
See, Halfas are hella rare for a reason. The conditions needed to form them are really rare yes, but they aren’t the Main problem. No the main issue is the Disparity. Ghosts are beings of emotions, sufficient stress, emotional/mental harm, lack of ecto, and more can all lead to death. And Halfas crank that up to 11. They have a human side to take care of that’s constantly changing and growing, a higher ecto requirement to fuel their higher base strength, and a myriad of other minor complications that haven’t been properly studied cause Halfas are rarely found and usually don’t form ghosts on death
Say what
What do you mean “don’t form a ghost” they’re already half way there!
And there lies the problem, they’re halfway there. Ghosts are pretty static. they might change yes, but it’s usually due to major events or over the course of eons. And how do they decide on what they’re gonna be? By dying of course! Once the body dies its ghost is formed based on the current life situation and they move on. Simple, quick, easy. No complications here no siree!
Enter Halfas
They already died, and while infant ghosts and experience some major changes as they settle it’s nothing to the degree humans do. And as time passes the static ghost half and changing human half can drift, wobbling on that line between life and death. And once it gets to extreme? They fall. If the ghost half starves or dies the human half experiences Major health complications, leading to death shortly after. If the human side dies they try to form a ghost using all the ambient ecto the ghost side has been feeding on, leading to the ghosts death in most cases but if not they’re practically two different beings and fusing them will kill both anyways.
Good news though! With all the combat and rediculously high ecto levels Danny was exposed to to form his other half, his ghost side has stayed pretty adaptable! The other ghosts didn’t realize they were fighting a literal infant thanks to the high ecto levels he had (and the knowledgeable ones that Did had other reasonings the meant a little smack down they totally wouldn’t lose was an acceptable trade off for them). Horrifying, he will spend the next century finding all sorts of animal pelts, boxes, music tracks, etc landing on him in the middle of the night. But it has a silver lining! Thanks to not being allowed to settle Danny can still shape his ghost form to a degree. And Clockwork, brilliant old man that he is, has an Idea on how to fix this.
Great! Lay it on him Clockwork! What’s he gotta do? Get de-aged and die? Ha Ha! You sure know how to make a good joke old man-child, now what’s the real way?
Oh
Oh no
Danny Can form a ghost on death, but it’ll require dying while as mentally and physically similar to how he was when the portal closed. Problem there, he’s changed. He’s changed a Good Bit. Luckily Clockwork can handle the physical aspect but Desiree needs some extra time for her end. See, she Can change brain chemistry and whatnot, but it takes time to become permanent. A quick fix like her usual work is fragile (lies, it’s still stupidly powerful but forming a ghost relies on the persons deepest core, and that takes time to settle in to Desiree’s magic). So they just have to de-age Danny to an appropriate age where once he hits around the age he was when the portal closed Desiree’s magic will have settled, molding his personality/core to as close as they can be.
And then he has to die.
Doesn’t have to be as extreme as the portal incident was (in fact new factors like major doses of ecto would be a Very bad idea, his malleable ghost side is already pushing the limits with the minor variation he’ll already have) but it Does need to be in an area with high levels of ambient ecto, preferably his new hometown to match his current life’s lack of geographic movement.
He’ll also need to have his ghost half locked away to a degree. He’ll still need to be liminal of course, that long term exposure to ecto is needed to fuel a ghosts transformation, but proper ghost powers are getting put away unless Clockwork thinks they’re needed (and if it Does get to that point he’s getting pulled out for a second try anyways).
So where to put him? Well Gotham of course!
Clockwork…. Why are you like this (it’s all for the good of the timeline. And Lady Gotham owes him a favor he prepared just for this)
From there if he ends up in the Bats care (Nasty Burger explosion, Ghost Jazz, or simply not having anyone capable of properly raising him knowing he’ll die at 14) it doesn’t take long for one John Constantine to notice the Heavy Infinite Realms influence on the small child and drag the big bat away for his own Talk (double angst if he’s able to recognize the specific brand of Time Magic indicating a death prophecy). If he ends up under Jazz’s care then it might take a bit longer, but she’ll likely end up tied up in Bat business and from there it wouldn’t take long for a Very stressed Jazz to accidentally reveal something (or a child Danny not realizing “I know when I’m going to Die in excruciating detail!” is Not something you share with strangers, especially not ones as paranoid as the Bats).
Also for loose threads I imagine Ellie is unstable because her ecto is cloned off of Danny, while her human half is its own person. That large disparity usually leads to death (as seen in the other clones) but she’s able to force it off with sheer ecto strength, using the ecto shots as fuel to Force her body to stay together until they reach an inevitable conclusion or potentially meld together like Dan does).
As for Dan he’s not Properly a Halfa. I never watched the show so I don’t have all the details but I understand he’s some kinda mix of future Danny and Vlad gone evil and destroying the world. This mix Might be able to last longer than a regular Halfa would due to the insane amounts of ecto he has in his system. And as time passes the mixed ghost halves Could be unstable enough to sort of meld with his human parts, creating something of a Highly unstable ghost-human hybrid (seperate from Halfas since this is a blending of the two, not a distinct line between two halves).
That wouldn’t work with Danny cause it requires a second ghost mixing with him And the two somehow not destabilizing during the years it takes for the blend to settle. And the Ellie route is out since that requires So Much fine control and vigilance over a Very long period of time to slowly manually shape the ghost half to better fit the human half, rather than the other way around like Danny’s doing.

Cathy O'Brien - The First Project Monarch "Survivor"
Cathy O'Brien is the main author of TRANCE Formation of America, a 1995 book in which she claims she was a victim of Project Monarch alter programming, which was supposedly practiced by the New World Order. The book makes a lot of bizarre pseudoscientific claims about DID and is very obviously using the general conspiracy theory template laid out in The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion, along with plenty of stuff derived from witch panic tropes. O'Brien was allegedly deprogrammed by Mark Phillips in 1988. Here's a selection of the claims she makes:
She claims she was recruited from "a multi-generational incest family" by none other than Gerald Ford, who personally came to her parents' house.
She claims that DID gives you photographic memory and a visual acuity of 44 times greater than the average person.
She claims that hypnotic regression can make old wounds (as in actual physical wounds) reappear.
She claims that Monarch slaves can be programmed to disguise themselves by shifting their facial muscles around.
She claims that she could read backward text because she was using more of her brain than normal, and claims this is a "typically occult based phenomenon."
She claims that Monarch programmers would use various movies to program their slaves. Alice In Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz come up a lot.
Pretty much EVERYBODY with a speaking role in her book is into horrible wordplay. She claims these double meanings are actually "double binds," which are part of Project Monarch's mind control techniques. They aren't double binds. They're just god-awful puns.
She claims Project Monarch was based on Nazi research, and is a key element of bringing about the New World Order. According to Cathy, the Vatican, Jesuits, Mormons, Freemasons, NASA, and the US military are all in on it.
She implicates a number of politicians, entertainers, sports figures, and various others as members of the NWO.
She claims to know what the NWO wants to do because she, personally was around many of its high-ranking members (which include but are not limited to Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Bill Clinton, and Hilary Clinton.)
She's very much into the whole "the conspiracy runs the entertainment industry" trope. She claims that entertainers usually only make it big when they participate in CIA operations and/or are slaves themselves. She claims that she knows "numerous entertainers in need of rescue and deprogramming."
She claims Marilyn Monroe was a Monarch slave.
And typical of conspiracy theories in the time period, the conspiracy is supposedly behind the distribution of drugs, porn, and CSEM.
Like many conspiracy theorists, she claims that a snuff film industry exists. There is no evidence that any such industry exists.
She claims NASA has a drug called "Tranquility," which makes people follow whatever orders they're given.
She has her own take on the reptilian conspiracy theory. She claims that the president of Mexico, Miguel de la Madrid, told her that he was descended from reptilian aliens who interbred with the Maya to produce reptilian shapeshifters. She claims George Bush and de la Madrid used holographic technology to make it seem as if they were transforming into reptilians. She also claims NASA uses reptile themes in its Mexican operations.
She claims that the evil plan includes establishing free trade between the US and Mexico, so that drugs can freely be transported into the US, and Monarch-enslaved white people can be transported out.
O'Brien claims that she and her daughter were brutally tortured, sleep deprived, dehydrated, and starved. At the time she claims she was forced to run drugs, she was supposedly allowed only two hours of sleep per night and 300 calories per day. Yet in the pictures of her and her daughter included in the book, they both look perfectly healthy.
She claims that the entire country of Haiti is under Monarch mind control, and that she was involved in a plot to murder Haitians by way of poisoned vaccines administered by Jesuit missionaries (who were secretly NWO operatives).
Whenever she writes about an alleged event involving a foreigner… let's just say Cathy O'Brien's love for national and ethnic stereotypes rivals JK Rowling's.
She claims that her personalities were integrated after she was freed from Project Monarch, with the implication that she doesn't have DID anymore.
Mark Phillips, her alleged rescuer and deprogrammer, whisked her and her daughter away from Tennessee and took them to Alaska before beginning the "deprogramming" process. At this point, she fell in love with him. That's right - her "rescuer" flew her across the country to a remote location before using hypnosis to help her "recover" memories of Project Monarch and the New World Order. Can we say "yikes"?
It's unclear who exactly came up with the idea of Project Monarch itself, but H.P. Abarelli Jr., who researched Project MK-Ultra, wrote this in response to a question about Project Monarch:
I researched the CIA's programs for over 17 years.
As far as I could see and find, there is/was no Monarch project. Indeed, I was told by the fellow who first wrote about it that it was a fabricated project on his part and that he has regretted the creation for years. It is not necessary to make MKULTRA and Artichoke any worse than they were.
They were absolutely horrible programs and the attempts to embellish them with made-up projects is not helpful or needed. In fact, it readily serves the Agency's disinformation objectives to scatter this fabricated disinfo dust over the real story. (Source)
What we do know is that Project Monarch is a right wing conspiracy theory, and its tropes have roots in antisemitism and witch panic. There is no evidence that alter programming via the methods these people describe is possible, but there is plenty of evidence to show that confabulated memories can be cultivated with very little effort.

hi i hope you're having a good day! this may be quite silly but i'm curious, what are some typical dances for the peoples of blest?
Hi there! This was actually sent in for the Patreon Q&A in April, but something horrible has happened to Patreon's site in the last several months, where after a certain amount of text, the text editor becomes horrifically laggy and crashes constantly, meaning I did all the work (i.e. watching so many medieval and ancient dancing videos and reading all about various cultures and their dances) to answer this question, but the website stubbornly would not let me type up my answer in the existing Q&A post... 🥹 So I kept losing all my progress on this one and ultimately ended up giving up, but I still wanted to answer it, so I hope it's okay that I answer here!
The short answer: the typical dances for the people of Blest obviously are going to vary widely between cultures as well as classes within those cultures. People from the southern isles dance quite differently from people in the Eastern Continent, who in turn dance differently from people in Jalis. I'm not going to cover too much of the kinds of dancing that we don't see much of in the game, though I will note that Ket and Hunter cultures tend to favor dancing more as a form of story-telling or individual expression (often seen in plays or festival rituals where specialized dancers are playing specific roles or parts), with elaborate costumes and dance techniques being employed in each culture (some traditional Ket dancers use fans and masks, Hunter dancers often dress in swirling costumes with rattling beads and employ hand-drums), rather than the communal dancing we might envision in, like, ballrooms or barnyard line-dancing. The Elves have a mix of both, with dance as "performance" as well as dance as "socializing" utilized in equal measure, and performative dancing is seen as a high art form that deeply utilizes perfectly synchronized music, color coordination, and movement to create mesmerizing group displays, almost like synchronized swimming or Cirque de Soleil type experiences. Mage culture, in general, doesn't put a lot of emphasis on dancing, as many Mages tend to trend introverted, solitary, or unathletic, so as a society it's not viewed as a really vital skill or even a part of their larger culture outside of the usual school/festival dancing, which isn't so much taught as it is just stumbled into.
Anyway, the two primary forms of dancing we seen in the game are what the nobles do and what the commonfolk do. I imagine dancing among aristocrats (formal balls, the Trade Minister's gala, parties at the Sun Court) to be pretty similar to what you'd see in Regency-Era dancing, with waltzes, quadrilles, and cotillons being the most common style.
However, it should be noted that the "English country dance" that was typical of the Regency era (where men and women form two lines, facing across from their partner, and are not permitted to dance alone as a couple, but side-by-side alongside others) is not something that is present in Blest. If you've seen any Austenian movies like P&P 2005, you know what I mean.
^ So not this!
It may factor into a dance a noble has to do once or twice in their lifetime, but it's pretty unusual, and a guest without a noble background (like Riel or the Shepherds at the Trade Minister's gala) wouldn't be expected to know it.
Among the commonfolk, dancing typically takes place during festivals and holidays, in the streets or on the village green or town square, not within a formal venue such as a ball. As such, there are really no formal moves or styles ascribed to this kind of dancing--it's primarily dictated by what kind of music is playing, and you basically just jam out to it however you want, in a group, couple, or as an individual--but the closest real-world equivalents I could liken it to would be the medieval carole or free-style polka. But there are no formalized rules other than basic proprietary/decency, and even then that can be pretty lax once the drink is flowing.
youtube
However, while I don't have any formal name for it, mostly I just imagine the dance scene from A Knight's Tale. :)

Seed networks are community organizations that have multiplied in the past decade in different Brazilian biomes to collect, trade and plant native seeds in degraded areas.
In the Chapada dos Veadeiros area, in Goiás state members of seed networks from several parts of Brazil met for almost a week in early June.
Along with environmental organizations, researchers and government officials, they participated in discussions to boost Redário, a new group seeking to strengthen these networks and meet the demands of the country’s ecological restoration sector.
“This meeting gathered members of Indigenous peoples, family farmers, urban dwellers, technicians, partners, everyone together. It creates a beautiful mosaic and there’s a feeling that what we are doing will work and will grow,” says Milene Alves, a member of the steering committee of the Xingu Seed Network and Redário’s technical staff.
Just in 2022, 64 metric tons of native seeds were sold by these networks, and similar figures are expected for 2023.
The effort to collect native seeds by traditional populations in Brazil has contributed to effective and more inclusive restoration of degraded areas, and is also crucial for the country to fulfill its pledge under international agreements to recover 30 million acres of vegetation by 2030.
Seed collection for restoration in these areas has previously only been done by companies. But now, these networks, are organized as cooperatives, associations or even companies, enable people in the territories to benefit from the activity.
Eduardo Malta, a restoration expert from the Socio-Environmental Institute and one of Redário’s leaders, advocates for community participation in trading and planting seeds. “These are the people who went to all the trouble to secure the territories and who are there now, preserving them. They have the greatest genetic diversity of species and hold all the knowledge about the ecosystem,”
.
The Geraizeiros Collectors Network are one of the groups that makes up Redário. They were founded in 2021, and now gathers 30 collectors from eight communities in five municipalities: Montezuma, Vargem Grande, Rio Pardo de Minas, Taiobeiras and Berizal.
They collect and plant seeds to recover the vegetation of the Gerais Springs Sustainable Development Reserve, which was created in 2014 in order to stop the water scarcity as a result of eucalyptus monocultures planted by large corporations.
“The region used to be very rich in water and it is now supplied by water trucks or wells,” says Fabrícia Santarém Costa, a collector and vice president of the Geraizeiros Collectors’ Network. “Today we see that these activities only harm us, because the [eucalyptus] company left, and we are there suffering the consequences.”
Costa was 18 years old in 2018, when the small group of seed collectors was founded and financed by the Global Environmental Facility. She says that working with this cooperative changed the way she looks at life and the biome in which she was born and raised. She describes restoring the sustainable development work as "ant work", ongoing, slow. But it has already improved the water situation in the communities. In addition, seed sales complement geraizeiros’ income, enabling them to remain in their territories.
.
The Redário initiative also intends to influence public policies and regulations in the restoration sector to disseminate muvuca, the name given by the networks to the technique of sowing seeds directly into the soil rather than growing seedlings in nurseries.
Technical studies and network experiences alike show that this technique covers the area faster and with more trees. As a result, it requires less maintenance and lower costs. This system also distributes income to the local population and encourages community organizations.
“The muvuca system has great potential [for restoration], depending on what you want to achieve and local characteristics. It has to be in our range of options for meeting the targets, for achieving them at scale,” says Ministry of the Environment analyst Isis Freitas.

Daily Life in the Phyrexian Spheres (Dross to Seedcore)
Previous: Facade to Furnace, Maze to Bays
The Dross Pits, much like its previous incarnation in the Mephidross of Mirrodin's surface, is a sphere rife with intrigue, double-crossing, and back-alley deals. The social structure is feudal, with lords ruling over masses of serfs and slaves, and thanes make up the top of the social pyramid. Dark, towering citadels of flesh and bone rise out of the necrogen mists, which bathe the entire layer in an eerie green glow. Large swathes of territory are controlled by thanes, lords, and magical creatures such as blight dragons and archfiends.
This sphere is densely populated, with the vast majority of its inhabitants making up the servant classes that live and die under feudal lords. Compleated Mirrans begin at the very bottom and most have little hope of ever ascending past this station, as the Steel Thanes' obsession with Phyrexian purity leads to heavy discrimination against those who are not Phyrexian-born. This obsession extends to a scrutiny of every Phyrexian's pedigree--the further removed a person is from their last non-core-born ancestor, the purer their bloodline is considered, leading to a higher chance of social advancement. As such, first-generation core-born Phyrexians (born to compleated Mirrans) are only barely considered truly Phyrexian and share their parents' meager social standing. As Phyrexians are immortal and have no need for heirs, faction members produce scions to serve their own advancement, not to eventually succeed them. Of course, said scions are rarely happy with this arrangement, seeking to usurp their parents and seize their assets instead.
Magically and technologically, the inhabitants of the Dross Pits largely focus on emulating Yawgmoth-era techniques gleaned from scrying the glistening oil. Due to the heavy emphasis on ichor magic and intrigue, glistening oil from individuals of interest--and the intelligence it contains--is an invaluable commodity in the Dross Pits. Bloodsuckers like necrosquitoes and pistid swarms are often employed to this end, fueling an illicit trade of stolen bodily fluids.
Much like the Furnace, the Dross Pits do not have an overarching system of governance or standard of law, and political allegiances vary widely. Pockets of the Dross Pits are strongholds of the Phyrexian rebellion, though they are severely handicapped by the loyalist spheres blocking them both above and below. Every thane has at least nominally allied with either Elesh Norn or the rebellion, though they are ultimately beholden only to themselves and care little for the ideals of either side.
The Fair Basilica is the innermost inhabited sphere and the de facto capital of New Phyrexia, where Elesh Norn rules from her palace and the majority of the Phyrexian military is housed. In the heart of Norn's empire, every aspect of daily life is carefully regimented and monitored; people are marched in orderly rows down alabaster bridges, flanked constantly by armed enforcers and their swarms of patrol mites. Flights of angels keep constant watch in the skies. Staggering acts of brutality are committed against any who display signs of deviance, and commoners are all too used to keeping their heads down and trying not to watch as their peers' oil is scrubbed from the streets.
Every resident of the Fair Basilica is expected to devote a significant portion of their time to worship, and the rest to assigned duties like patrolling or working the flesh-vats. Those who need to sleep do so on strict schedules under the watchful eyes of supervisors. Newts are raised by the state, rigorously educated on the Orthodoxy's religious tenets, and often apprentice under cenobites, which continues after their compleation; Mirran aspirants commonly join them.
Though it relies heavily on other spheres for commodities like raw material and technology, the Fair Basilica is at least self-sufficient in growing its own porcelain metal, which spreads in a fungus-like manner on recently dead flesh. It is mass-produced in giant growth vats, alongside Basilica inhabitants' germ offspring and seedpod centurions for the invasion (often bodies without minds, hollow for puppeting via ichor magic).
Rebellion is most difficult in the Basilica due to its oppressive environment and authorities' vested interest in controlling the flow of information--and oil--into and out of the sphere. The news fed to residents is tightly curated, requiring workarounds to even hear of the rebellion's presence at all. That said, dissident spies have managed to infiltrate even the innermost of the loyalist spheres.
The Mycosynth Gardens form a natural barrier between the populated Phyrexian spheres and the Seedcore, and passage through them is controlled exclusively by Elesh Norn herself. The Gardens themselves are uninhabited by sapient Phyrexians, though fauna like inkmoths and skitterlings roam the silent lattices, and the mycosynth itself is known to create lures or other, more cryptic structures that mimic passersby.
The Seedcore, the innermost layer of New Phyrexia, is the domain of Elesh Norn alone, where she keeps the World Tree sapling Realmbreaker imprisoned and firmly subjugated under layers of mind-altering magic. Very rarely, Norn holds the most confidential of her audiences here with her inner circle or other crucial allies. The sphere is heavily warded against incoming divination, telepathy, and any other possible interference with Norn's plans, but here lays Norn's crucial oversight: there are no such protections against communication going out, allowing Realmbreaker's telepathic distress call to pass through into the Multiverse.
And that's it for overviews of the nine Phyrexian spheres, from the perspective of a far more average commoner Phyrexian than we're used to hearing about. There's always more to be said about each of them, of course, and I hope this helps get people started thinking about their own expansions, headcanon, or additions!

25th Hour (Spike Lee, 2002)
Cast: Edward Norton, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Barry Pepper, Rosario Dawson, Brian Cox, Anna Paquin, Tony Siragusa. Screenplay: David Benioff, based on his novel. Cinematography: Rodrigo Prieto. Production design: James Chinlund. Film editing: Barry Alexander Brown. Music: Terence Blanchard.
Spike Lee's 25th Hour is a "day in the life" movie, and a very good one. The day is the last one of freedom for Monty Brogan (Edward Norton) before he goes to prison for seven years. He spends it with his girlfriend, Naturelle (Rosario Dawson), his friends Jacob (Philip Seymour Hoffman) and Frank (Barry Pepper), and his father (Brian Cox), and also makes a visit to the Russian mobsters who got him into the business of pushing drugs. It's also one of Lee's best films, less celebrated than Do the Right Thing (1982) or Malcolm X (1992), but worthy of being mentioned in their company. The only reservation I have about the movie is that Lee doesn't let his powerhouse cast bring their solidly written characters to life without indulging in a few distracting cinematic tricks. He and his longtime editor, Barry Alexander Brown, can't seem to resist techniques like freeze frames and moments in which the action is repeated from a different angle. There are showy montages and tour de force episodes, some of which work, like the "fuck you" episode in which the embittered Monty anathematizes almost every racial, social, and economic group in New York City. And the film ends with a beautifully realized sequence in which Monty's father proposes to help him escape and imagines the life he might live. But other episodes don't quite work, like the long take in which Jacob and Frank talk about their friendship with Monty, a scene that must have involved careful preparation on the part of Pepper and Hoffman, But it's staged in front of a window in Frank's apartment, which somewhat improbably overlooks Ground Zero, where crews are clearing away the rubble of the World Trade Center. I couldn't help being distracted by the scene outside the window instead of concentrating on their dialogue. Still, the movie, which was planned before the 9/11 attack and completed and released afterward, beautifully integrates that event into the theme and tone of the film, which deserves to find the audience it never quite did when it was released.

Hripsimeh Sarkissian (1908 — 2000), Armenian textile artist from Turkey.
Born into a family involved in trading carpets among other things, in a region where textile making was a common activity especially among women, Hripsimeh Sarkissian had been familiar with textile designs and techniques since her childhood. In 1915 H. Sarkissian, just a child, survived the Armenian Genocide. She lost most of her relatives, including her father and siblings during the atrocities. Then, almost twenty years later, in 1938, she survived the Dersim Massacre, which was a military campaign led against the non-Turkish and non-Sunni communities in the area, this time with her husband and children. Her family was one of the few Armenian families that escaped the executions in their village, forced to leave their homes with thousands of other people. For nearly ten years the family lived in arduous conditions. Only after 1947, when the settlement law in Turkey was amended to give the right to displaced communities to return to their homes, they moved to Elazığ, a city neighbouring their native Dersim.

Scientific knowledge and technology played a significant role in the expansion of colonial rule in India and the consequent incorporation of the Indian sub-continent into the [commercialized, imperial] world-system [...]. The colonization of nature, territory and people in British India led to a mutually constitutive interplay [...].
By the time the East India Company managed to establish a foothold in Bengal in 1757, [...] [a]fter the acquisition of the formal rights to collect revenues in the states of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa, the issue of obtaining accurate information about the extent of the produce, the population and other social statistics assumed significance. The detailed scientific surveys [...] were possible due to the large number of amateur scientists employed by the Company. Over time, these surveys played a major role in the transformation of a trading company into a colonial state [...] and the incorporation of India into the modern world-system. [...]
---
Considered the founder of British geography, James Rennell arrived in India in 1760 barely three years after the decisive battle of Plassey. Rennell’s cartographic skills caught the attention of the governor of Bengal presidency, who was ‘anxious to inaugurate some system for correcting and revising the geography of Bengal’ [...]. Rennell’s mapping out in great detail the area under the Company was indispensable for the rationalization of the extraction of surplus, administrative strategies and techniques of control. [...] In 1777 he left for England, and two years later he published the Bengal Atlas that led to his election to the Royal Society. [...] With reference to the ‘science wars’, [...] Rennell’s work was also incorporated in the key text[s] of the time, C. Lyell’s Principles of Geology (1830) [...] [and] the work of [...] Humboldt and Carl Ritter. Rennell’s surveys contributed to the organized [...] surveys [across wider regions of India] that followed after the defeat of Tipu Sultan of Mysore in 1799. [...] [Mysore's] sustained resistance to British power had a major impact on the general consciousness in Britain. [...]
Thomas de Quincey extolled the virtues of the ‘British bulldog’ against [...] the tyrannical ‘Bengal tiger’ [...]. The scientific knowledge that emerged as a consequence of the surveys of Mysore contributed [...] to the consolidation of administrative power [...]. The key figures associated with the surveys [included] Colin Mackenzie [...]. Mackenzie’s ethnographic notes contributed to imperial perceptions of the [...] [people of South Asia] and the grid of anthropological knowledge through which administrative power was deployed. [...]
---
Nature, culture and colonial power were inextricably implicated in the production of scientific knowledge and of colonial society. [...] The establishment the Public Works Department in 1854 provided fresh impetus for the deployment of science and technology in grappling with problems precipitated by colonial rule. Declining revenues for the Company focused attention on gigantic irrigation and other public works projects. [...]
The irrigation projects were expanded to include the railways (1849), the telegraph (1852), and the postal system (1850). Together, they represented the largest state-sponsored enterprise undertaken anywhere at that time. Lord Dalhousie, under whose tenure these projects were inaugurated, declared the railways, the telegraph and the postal system as the ‘three great engines of social improvement’.
His predecessor William Bentinck had already termed the railways ‘the great engine of moral improvement’ in a country ‘cursed from one end to the other by the vice, the ignorance, [...] the barbarous and cruel customs that have been the growth of ages under every description of Asian misrule’ [...]. Later observers were to wax ever more eloquent on the role of the railways in the modernization of India. For W. A. Rogers of the Indian Civil Service, railways ‘are opening the eyes of the people … they teach them that speed attained is time, and therefore money, saved or made’ (Adas1989: 226). The importance of a network of railways, connecting the cotton plantations of the Deccan region to the ports became significant especially during the 'cotton famine' of 1846 [...].
---
Almost immediately after Dalhousie left India, secure in the belief that the double engines of moral improvement and legitimacy were at work, the rebellion of 1857 put an end to such expectations. The rebellion was partly triggered in response to the wide-ranging transformations [...] triggered off by the introduction of [these] new [colonial infrastructures] [...].
In the end, the rebellion was violently suppressed by the very technologies that had precipitated it in the first place. [...]

2 houses located in Etterbeek, in the Brussels Capital region, designed by Paul Cauchie. The first is his personal home, secondly a house he build as rental property.
While still a student, Paul Cauchie founded his own company in 1896, specializing in decoration. He revived the sgraffiti technique, which he had learned from Henri Baes. Cauchie also took part in many exhibitions and competitions and was awarded several awards, including the Prix Donnay. In January 1899 he made a study trip to Paris. He wanted to travel even further, but because his business was so successful, he returned. In 1901 the Cauchie family moved from Ter Hulpen to Schaarbeek.
In 1905 Cauchie married Caroline Voet (1875 - 1969), called Lina. She went on to play an important role in the decoration company. They also immediately built a house. Cauchie designed it himself at Frankenstraat 5 in Etterbeek. The house, now called Cauchie House, was built in the Art Nouveau style, but was also inspired by the architectural style of Charles Mackintosh, with the influence of Japonism. The facade is almost completely covered in sgraffiti. Cauchie's wife decorated the interior together with her husband.
Cauchie's company received a lot of orders, so he had to hire employees. In 1913 he expanded further and founded the SA Comptoir de Matériaux de Construction, with headquarters in Dinant. A company brochure from 1914 mentions thousands (!!!) of finished sgraffiti. Although sgraffiti were his most important trade mark in that period, he also designed stained glass windows (including for Villa Dageraad in Eeklo), ceiling paintings and furniture. His work (especially sgraffiti, both for outdoor decoration and in the interior) can be found in many places in Belgium.
His second design as an architect was a house on his property at Jachtlaan 141 in Etterbeek. Cauchie designed this house in 1910 and rented it out. This house has been protected since 1995.

FACTORY H
Factory H is one of three clustered buildings of the "Société Anonyme des Magazins à Grains d'Anvers" (SAMGA). SAMGA was founded in the mid-19th century for the storage, transhipment and trading of grains imported from America and Russia. Factory H can be found together with the other buildings (Factory F and Factory G) at the Amerikadok in the port of Antwerp.
Factory H is the second of these three buildings. The building was marked as architectural heritage. The remarkable grain silos were praised at home and abroad for their revolutionary techniques for treating grains.
This particular building was erected in 1939, next to the original 1895 building. The building contains 115 silos. Together they can contain more than 27,000 tons of grain.
Despite the buildings being included as architectural heritage, the Antwerp municipal council decided to demolish them. The buildings had to make way for the construction of the "Oosterweel" connection, the megalomaniac highway project of the ever-attention-hungry mayor of Antwerp. Demolition of the building started in the spring of 2020. As a result, another magnificent piece of industrial heritage disappeared.
Sunset view of Factory H from the nearby offices of the Antwerp Port Authority. Factory H is the nearest building. Directly behind it is factory G, followed by the white tower of Factory F.
