Nick’s in love with your writing…(if you already couldn’t tell), but it’s difficult for you to understand why.

Usually, when you'd open up your laptop, it was after a tough shift at your crap job and you just wanted to do something to fill in the time after dinner and before bed. It was always on the shorter side, 100 words each, and was normally just a quick and crappy self-insert fic to satisfy your creative urges from doing a boring-ass job all day. You never really thought your tiny one-shots would attract any attention, but the man you've been staying with proves otherwise.

"NauseAxe_404" is what he called himself, but you've just been calling him 'Nick' for now. He had been reading your old Dumblr blog for who knows how long, and he's taken a major interest in your little shitposts...So much, so that he had taken the time to print out every single one of your posts and personal information pinned to his room's walls. It's extremely creepy...but also sort of charming?

For the last few days or so, you've been held in Nick's hotel room, practically glued to a desk with a typewriter...slowly making your way through a 100-paged fic that he specifically requested of you. Though you technically could stand up and leave...you'd really prefer for your skull to stay in one piece...and not have a bullet put through your temple.

Nick has been staring at you almost the entire time...which only certified in your mind that he is not human. Every time you turn to see if he's still there...like an unmoving fortress, he always is. It's been a solid 8+ hours of you sitting there and writing...and your stomach starts to emit loud sounds of hunger. You pray he didn't hear that, and continue to type away at the dated machine. However, to your dismay, his deep voice chimes in.

"...What page are you on...?"

Nick asks, seemingly trying to speak quietly for you, but his naturally booming voice isn't giving you any favors.

"...uhm..."

You take a moment to review what you have done...it doesn't look like much but it feels like it took AGES to write out...

"About...10? It's not a-"

"That's wonderful, Superstar!"

He cuts you off just as you begin to speak.

Of course, he's going to be ecstatic. You can't fathom why he seems to be so hopelessly in love with whatever you slap on the paper. You're curious..so you begin to speak.

"...uhm...Nick...why do you..take interest in my writing?"

You softly speak, trying to be careful with your words...you can't afford to overstimulate this man.

For a chatty guy...Nick was oddly silent at the ask of this question…or at least for a few seconds.

“I was trying to find a way to ease the boredom and loneliness of this fucking hotel, so…huff…I joined Dumblr and started to search for writing…that was…huff….purposeful…and that could fix me..”

No way in hell your crackfics could change this man...He must've come out of the womb like that. (or...however the hell he was made..)

"...I came across your first post years ago..huff...and fell in love with the way you wrote your love interest....huff...I knew you were talking about me when I wrote all those comments~"

You never looked at comments due to embarrassment...and you honestly didn't think anyone would even care to comment in the first place.

"....you weren't responding to me...huff...so I might've found everything about you in the meantime...huff...just so I could notice you in a crowd...I always will~"

Okay, now it's getting creepy. You hope that by just turning back around and continuing to write maybe he'd shut up...You guess it's sorta your fault for striking up a conversation with the creep.

"All the other writers don't know shit about writing...huff...1k word counts...huff...long and complicated stories that don't make any fucking sense..."

There goes the rambles. You stop typing for a moment to process what the hell he just said. He either is really balls-deep into this fantasy of you being a perfect human...or he's just trying to fluff you up so you'll continue writing for him. He's really delusional, that's it. It's seriously hard to believe your crap was life-changing for Nick.

"....maybe you just like simpler writing...?"

You softly reply, yet again praying that you didn't accidentally strike a chord with this guy. He stares you down, and even if you aren't looking back at him, you can still feel the burning of his eyes on the back of your head.

"That's possible."

Oh, it's highly probable. He gets so emotional over the tiniest bit of anything, so...He just doesn't need too many words to evoke a reaction...It checks out because you also like to write a straight-to-the-point sorta piece.

"but don't let your mind wander for...huff...too long...my superstar...you've got at least 90+ pages to go~"

Shit, he was right...time to get back to work.

Hellooo! A while back, I made an ask thanking you for changing my opinion on showtime! At the time, I almost didn't send it cause I was being paranoid.

But now thanks to caffeine, I feel no fear!

So tell me, what made you prefer showtime as your otp other than.. Idk, buttonblossom or.. Jax x Ragatha (don't remember the ship name. Bunnydoll?)

Well, it all comes down to Caine himself. He's my favorite character in the show. It all started when I was just looking for Caine art back when I first entered the fandom, I couldn't get enough of him.

At the time, the only Caine ship that really stuck out to me was Showtime, so I latched onto it in a pseudo-self-insert kind of way, but by the time I started writing fanfiction, I had familiarized myself with Pomni as a character and I thought.....this could work.

I'm a sucker for AI-falls-in-love or becomes more human because of someone who cares enough. Think Detroit Become Human. (Loved that game) After episode 2, when Pomni shows her full capacity for empathy to an AI such as Gummigoo, that really sent my synapses firing about "What if she did that with Caine?"

So I wrote my first Showtime oneshot, "Creative Liberty" and haven't looked back. Technically I wrote the first few chapters of Raceway first, but that was when I was still familiarizing myself with the characters. I consider Creative Liberty my first real showtime fic.

While Showtime is most certainly my favorite, it's not my only ship. I'm a "multi-shipper" So my brain can easily move around the characters and pair them up in a lot of different ways that I still enjoy. That's why on my main blog I tell people "all ships are welcome." Even the crack ones lol.

Because like Goosworx herself said, "Ship whoever you want, just stop attacking each other!" We're here to have fun! Thank you for your question. This might have been a bit more in depth than you were expecting, but I wanted to answer honestly.

PS- Jax x Ragatha is Bunnydoll and is my second favorite overall ship :3

PSS- The only ship that I'm like eeh on is RoyalCourt (PomnixKinger) especially after episode 3. I ship them in a father-daughter way, It's hard for me to picture them in a romantic sense.

LIMEY MY FRIEND LIMEY 🥺🫶🫶 you're so so sweet and sorry for not getting to this sooner, it's bcs you inspired me! I actually had drawn up a design for Rebels!Kepler, but it was a bit old so I decided to redraw it

So here it is, the first colored pic is 31-year-old Rebels era Kep, and the sketch is of an 18-year-old Kep I did for the Inquisitor!Brea AU but I decided to include it because if you just add the scars he'd retain from being wounded in the escape from Order 66 that'd be what he looks like at that age regardless! (Some more info under the cut, warning for EXTREME angst)

After fleeing the temple with Brea, they eventually both reunite with Rex! And I literally didn't even think of it until just now, but their reunion is probably a very bittersweet one on Kepler's part 0_0 Technically they'd encounter the bad batch first, and I imagine Kep has a...really strong reaction to seeing troopers again after Order 66. He isn't killed in this AU but he IS badly wounded, and disabled for the rest of his life, so I feel as much as Brea panics when seeing them he has a full blown attack that she has to bring him down from.

Eventually he understands that clone force 99 are cool, and they're starting to unravel the mystery of Order 66 but that doesn't mean it'd be easy for him to adjust to having Rex around. They used to be so close, Kep admired him as a male role model more than anyone, but now he flinches every time Rex's hand even brushes his blaster, even though Rex would never ever hurt him now. 😭😭😭

It takes a lot of time for them all to start to recover from the trauma it caused them. But eventually they DO start to feel like the family they always thought they would be, especially when Rex and Brea's first child is born, Kaiza! I really gotta draw more family stuff, but I think when Kep holds her for the first time it finally solidifies in his mind that this is his new life, his true family, and for the first time in a long time (and at least for now) he is safe...

Until ofc Rex leaves for milk (joopas) and doesn't come back but that's another thing entirely 😂😂😂

🌷When does your self-insert come into the story? Is your selfship established before the events of the source?

So. My self-insert (Max) is very connected in the story before he ever truly meets Jack— he lives on the planet Jack is trying to colonize and is the only person who seems to see that Jack himself is a person (and later uses that to his advantage, exploits Jack's weaknesses and saves everyone cus of it)! Throughout actually line 90% of the game, Max would just be a hippie living on Pandora who sends angry emails to Jack (which all go straight to spam). The selfship gets established after canon, really. Technically. Max ends up diverting the story plot so Jack doesn't die, and they truly start dating sometime after all that would've happened!!

Omg I have a lot !! I've rped most the ones I have in my brain with friends. A big one I always think of is at this weird point in their relationship where their situationship develops a little more, as one does, and Max starts wanting to actually connect more with Jack and get to know him. Jack is so shut off, so emotionally reserved; Max loves him for his abrasive, dorky, crude humour and personality, but he wants to know the sensitive side of him as well. He wants to know what secrets Jack's hiding, what makes him cry, the things that get to him. He wants to love him completely.

But Jack doesn't exactly trust it. Max was actively stalking/collecting information on Jack to use against him for a while, how does he know that won't happen again? Plus, he's been so emotionally reserved for so long after his wife's death. He's just supposed to open up to a Pandoran of all people?

But basically, Max is frustrated and not having it, cus it's also having him think about how Jack is a horrible person that caused him so much pain. Why would he want to love that? But he can't choose who his heart wants.

And so kinda in some sort of desperation, Max starts a little painting project while they're still rocky. It's a portrait of Jack :3. And it's so cute, it's making him look like a hero without having to shun Pandorans (like almost every heroic portrait of Jack seems to do). And Jack just !! Becomes his muse with art !!

Eventually they work it out.. but WAWAAW!!

Plus their whole second meeting, which GOD I rped it with my friend and it was so good. I can't say much about it on here, but basically they had a very transactional sugar type relationship at that point, and mix that with a bunch of feels. SHHAEHHHDHDBNN

okay, regarding "what it would mean to be a fictional character":

the first two items are probably the most predictable, being 1) a sense of direction/purpose -- if I am part of a narrative, not only does everything seem justified (good lives make bad stories) but also meaningful (circumstance becomes metaphor) and instead of wandering aimlessly I am participating directly in the creation of "art," or maybe not participating-in but you know, being-utilized-as-part-of

&being 2), unfortunately, absolution of personal responsibility, seeing as how most people don't hold fictional characters to the same standards as they do "real people," so any personal flaw or moral failing on my part isn't an indictment of my self, because I have no self, because I'm not real, I'm a tool in a story

&being less predictable and significantly harder to explain, that 3) I on some level consider my life to be a story I'm creating (I think I at one point posted something like "I'm the best character I ever wrote"), so I tend to pursue what I think would be narratively interesting as opposed to like, "pleasant" or "healthy." (what those things mean is another topic.) this is something I'm struggling with in an attempt to even remotely consider improving my life or mindset somewhat, because I keep telling myself I "don't believe in happiness for its own sake," whatever that means, and also that if the bad things change, the story ends, the character isn't as compelling, the metaphors stop meaning anything (see: good lives make bad stories). I *like,* I guess, writing this story, I want to keep writing it, only if I put misery in a story where I'm the main character, I have to be miserable. I guess the point is that if I were fictional then my compulsive tending to the narrative would be something other than pure neurosis

&then not really technically possible or sensible even if you're thinking about it with the deepest most spiritual/delusional mid2010s fictionkin mindset, and the hardest for me to grasp, 4)thly that I have a (selfish) desire to be talked about as if I were a fictional character (this is something that takes up much of my internal dialogue/daydreaming, and I don't like it because I consider it ridiculously self-indulgent), I guess for people to *like* me, and for me to know that they like me (&*because*, not in spite, of the things that for a real person are flaws but for a character are endearing character traits), but to never actually want to *interact* with me ; when I was younger this manifested as a desire to be "famous," because that's as close as a real person can get to being fictional, but I don't think I really want that. &anyway like I said before it's not like fiction knows it's fiction, so even if I were fictional I couldn't be aware of the things people said about me, unless I was like dead pool or something. in which case, awesome!!! but that might be scary in a new way I think the last part might be some kind of obscure form of objectification

uhh, I think the only way to really reconcile all this is to create an extremely masturbatory self-insert that is one-to-one identical to my current self, thus sort of preserving that "me" in time, and fictionalizing him, which I can't see myself doing, and would probably cause other problems besides the worst part is now I'm thinking "it's a funny type of guy that would have this problem. Interesting character."

monster!twst au so good i want 500 chapters with side stories ASAP!!

Thank you anon for the praise <3. Honestly, I was not expecting Monster!Twst to reach so many people, I think as of right now the Monster!List is actually at 900 notes?? Whenever something gets more than 200 notes i’m so thankful that people enjoy what I write, considering most of it is self indulgent, so even when i’m just inserting things I personally want into the au, knowing others like my writing/art is so gratifying.

With how many requests and asks I get typically about monster!twst, and the amount of writing I have for future chapters, I’m sure you’ll get your wish dear anon ( ˘ ³˘)♥︎. And it’s a huzzah today as my technical difficulties have been fixed and I can finally get back to it! I just have to find my motivation and get out of the procrastination slump I put myself in after my short break (ᗒᗣᗕ)՞

I’m currently working on angsty azul fic for a request, which i’m really looking forward to as I have a heavy love for guys with tentacles. (It is unknown to the world, but for 4 years I had a very bad obsession with Tamaki Amajiki…)

Hiii. I love your acc and the analyses you've made of TVC characters; reading your posts has expanded and helped me articulate the ideas I already had. Anne Rice as an author was very revealing, I mean, by reading her books and analyzing the characters and their dynamics, you get a lot of information about her as a person. That's very interesting. I think all authors put a bit of themselves into their works, but with Anne Rice it feels more personal, maybe because there are quite a few books following the same characters. What do you think?

omg thank you so much 🥹❤️ the makes me so happy. I agree wholeheartedly with ur take on Anne rice. The books are suuuper personal, sometimes to the point where I almost feel like I shouldn’t have access to them 😭 like I’m reading someone’s weird diary. I think this was because her writing functioned as her only outlet. like iwtv was so visceral and sad bcus it was such a raw unfiltered expression of her grief, and the rest of the books all follow the same format (to varying degrees of quality lol).

When it comes to the characters, she was open about how every character is in some way representative of a part of her (especially Lestat and Louis). U can analyze for days how Louis and lestats evolutions r akin to witnessing evolutions of Anne rices mental health, Louis her former self insert created during probably the darkest time in her life later becoming a representation of what she considers the worst parts of herself that she is ashamed of and being basically cut from the series, and Lestat going from an embodiment of her fraught relationship with her husband in iwtv to in tvl a power fantasy who she wishes she was like to at the same time a mouth piece for her existential dread and loneliness and anxieties

The way that lestats religious crisis and manic breakdown from Memnoch to blood canticle aligns perfectly with Anne rice’s own religious crisis and sudden shift in her work is so crazy to me😭 and then there’s Anne rice literally using Lestat as a blatant mouth piece to scream at the audience in the iconic blood canticle opening monologue of course, how could we forget. A lot of the time the personal nature of these books makes the technical quality of them worse, but even still it is one of the major reasons why I love them so much. Part of it is that reading something so personal and unfiltered, where u get the impression that the author wasn’t thinking at all about how it would come off to people while writing it, makes it feel almost more real to me? Or more authentic? Reading tvc sometimes makes me feel like I’m reading actual history or personal accounts from real people. And the bad writing and offensiveness and heaps of bullshit and the pages of unrelated tangents adds to this in a way 😭. Like yeah this is exactly what reading a biography by a hundreds of years old vampire would be like lmao.

I love interpreting themes in these books so much because I often feel like Anne rice didn’t place them there on purpose. She had a very “I’ll just write whatever is in my mind and the themes will happen on there own” approach, and they did! and for someone like me analyzing it is super rewarding. Figuring stuff out that the author wasn’t even aware of, basically. Tvc are rich with meaning in a way that only these books are, and the personal nature and the lack of thought into meaning or themes is I think majorly responsible. For me when it comes to fiction, I like to do the work. And Anne rice throwing her personal as hell freak sex vampire yaoi with the most agonizing portrayals of trauma and mental illness ever no editing no forethought out into the world definitely gives me room to do the work 😭

Also, I tend to really only enjoy art if I feel like it is a messy reflection of the creator. I’m not sure why but I can never really get into something unless I can see some of the creators flaws or baggage reflected in the work 😭 I feel like art isn’t rlly art to me if I don’t feel like a know the person who made it a little too well after seeing it. There’s something really special about finding out the worst parts of someone in a book, honestly. I love reading these and being like there is so much wrong with this woman and I know way too much about it 😭 she’s horrible but I’ve lived in her mind and I don’t wanna leave.

I admire in a way Anne rices unhinged abandon with how blatantly vent-like and unfiltered her books were (literally unedited 😭). She got extremely lucky making a career from it, typing out all her insane thoughts and feelings into gay vampires and becoming rich and famous. A girl can only dream for that life, I do that shit for free on a03. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered anything published that has the same energy as tvc in this way. The only thing that comes close would be like, a quotev fan fiction I read for laughs written by a ten year old in 2010 who is unintentionally revealing way too much to me about their semi concerning home life 😭. It’s wonderful! Thank u Anne rice for ur beautiful scary lack of shame u have given me so many things to write about on tumblr
