Tech as a father Chapter 80

Hej, hej. I tried to crawl out of my writers block hole. And turning my notes and snippets into the next chapter. Instead of just trying to write one shots, I think I have to try and battle it head on with the next chapter as well.

Chapter 80: You can’t trick your brothers

Tech kneels beside the baby bathtub, sleeves rolled up as he gently tries to coax Orion into enjoying his bath. But Orion, fascinated by the foam and bubbles, giggles and splashes, paying little attention to his father's attempts to wash him. Tech smiles softly, his focus solely on his son's enjoyment. He dips a cloth into the warm water, careful not to get soap in Orion's eyes, and starts to wash him gently. But Orion's tiny hands reach for the bubbles, his laughter filling the room as he tries to catch them.

Finding joy in the simple pleasure of watching his son explore and play. Despite the challenges and uncertainties they face, moments like these remind him of the precious bond they share. He continues to bathe Orion, content in the warmth of their connection and the love that surrounds them.

A bit later Hunter walks up to brother and nephew. “Do you think we are all some sort of di’kuts? And that we are stupid to not realise it? Me or Echo, echo who was around them for longer than any of us…” Tech pauses in his gentle scrubbing of Orion's back, glancing up at Hunter with a mixture of surprise and apprehension. He sets the cloth aside, his expression shifting to one of guarded concern as he considers Hunter's words. Of course Hunter and his senses picked it up. Sure it was a matter of time. Even with Echo who knows how to spot it.

"Of course not, Hunter," Tech replies, his tone cautious yet sincere. "I respect your intelligence immensely." Hunter exhales heavily, his arms still crossed as he leans against the wall of the ship. He regards Tech with a steady gaze, his eyes betraying a hint of frustration tinged with understanding. "Then why do you insist on treating me like I'm clueless? Us like we are clueless?" Hunter's voice is calm but firm, his words cutting through the air with a sense of urgency.

Tech swallows, his mind racing as he searches for the right response. He knows he can't hide the truth from his brothers forever, but the fear of what might happen if his secret is revealed weighs heavily on him. "It's not about underestimating you all, Hunter," Tech begins, his voice measured. "It's about protecting Orion, and all of us, from potential consequences."

Hunter raises an eyebrow, his expression sceptical yet open to hearing Tech out. He uncrosses his arms, folding them loosely across his chest as he leans in closer to Tech. Trying to find the line between leader and big brother. "I get that, Tech," Hunter says, his tone softer now, tinged with empathy. "But keeping secrets from the squad only puts us all at risk. We're a team, and we need to trust each other. Like it could have been nice to know about Orion before you just appeared with him."

Tech nods slowly, his gaze dropping to Orion, who continues to play in the now slight murky water, oblivious to the weight of the conversation unfolding around him. He knows Hunter is right, but the thought of revealing Orion's abilities fills him with a sense of dread. "I understand, Hunter," Tech murmurs, his voice barely above a whisper. "I just... I don't know how to navigate this."

Hunter reaches out, placing a reassuring hand on Tech's shoulder. He offers a small, understanding smile, the lines of worry easing from his face. "We'll figure it out together, Tech," Hunter says, his voice warm with reassurance. "But we have to start by being honest with each other. No more secrets. Especially about Orion. We love that guy, and neither of us wants him taken away."

Tech meets Hunter's gaze, his resolve firming as he nods in agreement. He knows it won't be easy, but with the support of his brothers, he feels a glimmer of hope that they can face whatever challenges lie ahead, together. “I just wish I could tell her.” “I know Tech, and you can, soon enough. We just need to make sure the Kaminoans are off our feet” Hunter sighs, knowing it is easier said than done.

Danny and Ellie take a small, reincarnation, vacation from their duties in the Infinite Realms (King Danny and his most trusted Knight/Princess Ellie). Don't worry, they leave the Realms in good hands (Jazz, Pandora, Frostbite, CW, etc, basically Danny's main council takes over for a few years)

They both weren't expecting to wake up in an assassin cult though.... Nor to find out they're five year old twins now... Twin, somewhat clones of the leader and this guy Red Robin their 'father' is kinda obsessed with....

Great their 'father' is an insane assassin leader fruitloop and their 'dad' is named after a fast food joint... whose barely out of his teens btw.

Danny al Ghul Danyal, cast a glance as his full blooded and twin sister this time around Helen Ellie al Ghul who rolled her eyes as they listened to their 'father' ramble on and on about their 'dad' and how they were created to be his heir (Danny mostly, though he had plans on Ellie going to be trained to be his body guard by someone named Lady Shiva soon)

Yeah, no. Ellie dealt with one evil fruitloop father who cloned her once before, she's not dealing that again or falling for the 'I created thus I love you but not really' bs. They need to leave, like yesterday.

Hopefully their 'dad' is... okay he doesn't need to be okay with it at first but hopefully comes around to it, okay with the two of them showing up on his doorstep soon.

And you know what, they're gonna bring him a gift.

His spleen. Yeah it'll be good to give that back to him.

Since you know that was how they got clones to begin with... Maybe don't leave your DNA with people that can make clones next time.

My personal headcanon is that Tech got Echoed AKA Empire used his knowledge/experience/memories to train CXs troopers - that's why clone assassins got so good at fighting the batch - they're flash trained based on Clone Force 99 tactics. Following that headcanon of mine... CX2 was, to a degree, Tech... just as he was Crosshair, Wrecker, Hunter and Echo or more precisely... what Tech knew about his brothers and their capabilities/fighting style.

But I also believe showrunners are aiming to have Tech rescued in a different show (or a tie-in comics or a book) to have another property tied tightly to Filoniverse... also to strengthen my theory - J. Corbett admitted that she loves Marvel's Winter Soldier movie - make of that what you will.

The ending of TBB s3, in my opinion, teases an idea of a show circling around rebellion in which Omega will be at least secondary/supporting character so I think they'll make her rescue her fallen brother in her own show as a minor plot point or at least a TBB cameo.

I don't care either way as long as CF99 will be properly reunited.

So we were watching the finale of a show where one of the villains realizes he’s fucked and you can see it in his face.

My dad, being, well, my dad, had to pause and gleefully tell us that in the army, they had some unofficial hand signals.

“Cover me, I’m fucked”

“Fuck you, I’m covered”

And my mind INSTANTLY went to the Bad Batch using these hand signals.

Bonus if they’re the ONLY hand signals Wrecker can remember.

(Echo joins the squad and is so goddamn confused about what his brothers are signaling, especially when they start using the signals outside of training or missions. He starts to get the gist of it when Hunter signals ‘cover me’ when he has to go get reprimanded and Crosshair just grins back at him and responds ‘I’m covered’.)

Getting back into rhythm after the crazy four weeks and one back at work. Hope I was not missed to much. Probably not XD Gotta find my rhythm again.

Also my cats ignored me the whole morning, but as soon as I whip out my laptop, they want to cuddle.

Chapter 78: Simply functioning is not that easy

In the ensuing weeks, Tech's demeanour reflects a palpable tension, evident in the tightness of his jaw and the furrow of his brow. The absence of his usual encrypted exchanges with Amanda weighs heavily on him, leaving him feeling isolated and vulnerable in the face of looming threats. Despite having his brothers.

With the direct order from Hunter to refrain from communication with Amanda, Tech finds himself grappling with a sense of unease that shadows his every thought. The absence of his wedding ring serves as a constant reminder of the precariousness of their situation, a stark symbol of the sacrifices they must endure to protect their family. Despite the mounting pressure and anxiety, Tech finds solace in the presence of Orion, his son becoming a source of comfort and stability amidst the uncertainty that surrounds them. He clings to Orion with a fierce protectiveness, his instincts as a father driving him to shield his son from any potential harm.

Tech's interactions with Orion become increasingly tender and attentive, his focus centred solely on ensuring his son's well-being. He lavishes Orion with affection, cherishing every moment they share together and finding solace in the simple joys of parenthood. As he navigates the challenges of their precarious existence, Tech finds himself drawing strength from the bond he shares with Orion. A few days later as Orion gleefully rolls and rocks in their bunk, Tech's attention remains firmly fixed on his son, even as he methodically works through the maintenance tasks aboard the Havoc Marauder. The soft hum of the ship's systems provides a soothing backdrop to the sight of Orion's playful antics, offering a brief respite from the weight of their circumstances. With the safety railing securely in place, Tech takes comfort in knowing that Orion is safe as he goes about his duties. He periodically glances over at his son, a fond smile tugging at the corners of his lips as he observes Orion's joyful exploration of his surroundings.

Despite the gravity of their situation, witnessing Orion's boundless energy and curiosity serves as a poignant reminder of the innocence and wonder inherent in childhood. In the midst of their trials, Tech finds himself momentarily transported by the simple joy radiating from his son, a beacon of light amidst the darkness that surrounds them. He silently vows to do whatever it takes to protect their family, his determination strengthened by the love he feels for both Amanda and Orion.

Throughout the day, Tech's attention remains divided between his duties aboard the ship and the wellbeing of his son. As Tech meticulously organizes his locker, he carefully places Orion's tiny toy blaster aside, a small reminder of his son's presence amidst the mundane tasks of ship maintenance. However, as he reaches for another item, the blaster unexpectedly slips from its perch and clatters to the floor.

Tech pauses, his brow furrowing slightly as he retrieves the fallen toy. He inspects it briefly, checking for any signs of damage before setting it back in its place. He even checked if he attached the string out of habit, despite him knowing the toy was in the locker the whole day. Maybe he knocked it off with his elbow… Though it's a minor incident, it serves as a gentle reminder of the delicate balance between his duties as a soldier and his responsibilities as a father.

With a sigh, Tech resumes his cleaning, methodically working through each item in his locker. As he carefully arranges his gear and equipment, his mind drifts to Orion, and of course he looks over his shoulder to him more than probably necessary, who gurgles happily in the back, a smile tugging at his lips as he envisions his son's playful antics. Despite the challenges they face, moments like these serve as precious reminders of the joy that Orion brings into his life.

As he finishes tidying his locker, Tech takes a moment to admire his handiwork. Though the physical surroundings may be orderly, his thoughts are filled with the comforting presence of his son, a constant source of inspiration and motivation in the midst of their turbulent existence. With a sense of purpose renewed, Tech before he closes the locker, he again checks over the items. Making sure Orion’s things are easy to retrieve, for him or his brothers. But just as he nearly has it closed something catches his eyes.

Surprised by the unexpected movement of the toy blaster, Tech's eyes widen in astonishment as he watches it slide away as if pulled by an unseen force. His gaze darts to Orion, who sits propped against the breastfeeding pillow, arms outstretched and bouncing with excitement…

Tim... Tim just stared.

He...

Huh.

He had once entertained the idea that he wasn't really a Drake, a very long time ago when he overheard his mom and dad arguing and some words were said in the heat of the moment, but to be honest Tim always thought the obvious culprit of anyone being his dad would most likely be Bruce (Bruce even admitted he had a small fling with his mother but that was two years before her marriage)

But before little Tim's curiosity could really take hold on the idea, he had saw on the news Robin performing a Grayson flip and the hint of Tim not being a Drake left his mind. Robin was Dick Grayson! And if he was Robin that had to mean Bruce Wayne was Batman!

Then well... his stalking of the Bats started and the rest became history.

But now, as Tim was staring at his own DNA test, something he never bothered to do until that damned Demon brat wanted to make sure he was ONLY blood son of Bruce (and doing a DNA test something even Bruce never thought of doing due to well… how he was towards Tim during his first months as Robin)

He well…

He kinda needs to find out who this Daniel Jackson Fenton is.

(Tim finds out he isn’t a Drake, but also not a Wayne (because Damian wanted to make sure he was only blood son) but is instead a Fenton)
