Like, both seafarers and vikings were incredibly superstitious people, even if we don’t see that a lot in the movie series. 

And Danny well, he might’ve managed to convince Clockwork that you know what? They do deserve a vacation, fuck the Observants, let’s find a world where we don’t have to worry about the GIW and just vibe! 

Now Clockwork, as anyone with eyes can tell, has a soft spot for the little ghost, there are even bets on when he’ll finally bite the bullet and properly adopt the little hatchling. In fact it’s so obvious that several others, Pandora and Frostbite included, borderline kick him out, telling him to yes, do go on a vacation, remember what happened when we all told Pariah to have a vacation and he didn’t? Exactly! 

So there they go, a pair, er a trio, um, alright Clockwork currently has six hatchlings with him. Alright. Okay so he’s never had a vacation before (nevermind with his future vision mostly turned off) and is maybe a hint wrong-footed but that’s fine. It can’t be that hard, and really, he easily dwarfs even the biggest dragons in this world, so what’s going to mess with him, hm? 

Ah.

Perhaps he should remember how idiotic humans are at times.

I know we collectively agree that Hiccup isn’t romantically inclined, and his getting married and having kids didn’t make sense in the epilogue, but consider: Hiccup getting married for political reasons.

It’s a marriage of alliance, which is recognized both by him and his partner, and they enter it without expectations of romantic involvement. Since they’re now married, they live in the same castle, spend time together, and Hiccup finds he really likes his spouse. They’re funny, get along with his friends, and has the same interests and values. They both probably speak multiple languages. She understands why Hiccup is so dedicated to making the Wilderwest better, and holds similar views. She’s a good politician (her job after all, was to be an ambassador). Hiccup likes spending time with them, and the feeling is mutual. They’re not in love, they have their own lives, but they’re dedicated to each other and eventually decide to raise children. They teach their kids how to train hawks and hunt with dragons, riding, history, the Languages, and all the necessary skills of their world. They’re not in love and they’re happy together.

Last Sunday we watched the Vikings game at the brewery. Sheila made a big pot of white chicken chili to share. Someone else brought a cheese and meat tray and another person had a huge plate of Christmas cookies.

One guy brings a huge drum and uses it to celebrate each Viking touchdown. Boom...Boom..."Skol!!!"

After one TD I was standing by the drum. I heard shouts, "Bob! The drum! It's your turn!"

So me, looking like a beatnik drummer in my gray turtleneck, I pounded on that drum. I didn't miss a beat. (My beret must have been back at our table.)

The previous week we had Sulley with us. He nearly jumped out of his skin when the drum sounded. This time Ella was with us. She didn't care about the drum noise. Her phobias center around squeaks, beeps and chirpy sounds.

The brewery holds drawings for free beer at the end of each quarter. At the end of the first one I was the winner.

Having another beer to consume, I got cocky and tried to game the system by modifying our tickets for halftime. Sheila ignored my attempts to get her to try to cash in one of these even though our numbers hadn't been called. I found myself quite amusing. She said it was time to take away my pen.

I liked the centerpiece someone displayed for the game. The guy who had this drank his beer out of another horn-shaped vessel.

It's a bit wild that the War of the Rohirrim design leads thought that this sort of blatant plagiarism was a normal thing to do. 🤔

On the left (and the boots on the right) you have Helm (and Hera's) clothes from one of the newer pieces of art released from WotR. The other images are screenshots from LotRO.

Specifically, the breastplate is the Armour of the Eastemnet and the Armour of the Elite Rider. The boots are Westemnet Boots of x (multiple kinds). Helm's vambraces and faulds, and Haleth's tunic (in the group shot) also look very familiar.

They claim to be following the designs from the trilogy but oh boy did they just google "Rohan armour" and lift whatever they found.
