Could Mechanist defeat Reserve Team A6?

One of the few entities in Terra capable of doing so.

As discussed previously, Reserve Team A6 works on slapstick rules: They could defeat Patriot simply because it would be funny if they did, and they can only be decisively defeated if it would be humorous or ironic in a humorous way. Mechanist has a rare property, however, that renders him fully immune to any Doctor Slump or Ed Edd and Eddy-class shenanigan. He simply Refuses To Participate.

Essentially, Mechanist is immune to The Bit. It's like his Fate passive ability: The same way Cu has protection from projectiles, Mechanist has protection from The Bit, but to an even more absolute level. He simply is water midst The Bit's oil, passing through untouched and completely distinct from it. If an anvil were to fall on Mechanist as he was crossing the street, courtesy of Catapult, he could dodge it, regardless of whether it's funny for him to do so or not. If Popukar paints a tunnel on a brick wall and then attempts to escape into it, it would work if it were Patriot, who would then splat himself flat against it in pursuit, but she simply could not go into the tunnel if her pursuer were Mechanist, because it's not a tunnel, it's a painting of a tunnel. If Midnight were to leave a huge black circular bomb at Patriot's feet, his eyes would bulge out dramatically before it explodes in a pastel big bang of orange, red and yellow, and he'd be a pile of ash with eyes for the reminder of the scene until he sweeps himself into a tray with a broom and regains his Wendigo form, but Mechanist would simply put the fuse out.

It just wouldn't work, bud. Just like Ho'olheyak is the hard counter to Muelsyse due to her being able to manipulate the air around water molecules, Mechanist is the A6 hard counter due to simply existing outside of The Bit.

Weird thought experiment: If you look through your normal base rotations, what is the most plausible rarepair that you think might occur from those characters spending time together in those stations?

Was just thinking on the general concept that often friendship and romance come from time spent in shared spaces.

For me, I think Scene/Click could be a cute young love story. Scene mods in Click's twitch chat, Click's kinda manic vibe means she's got the energy to run around and help out Scene with things around the house, Scene bots could be Click's camera squad for streaming out in the world.

I also think Haze/Gravel is a ship that has legs. They'd get up to cat and mouse games of trying to catch the other unawares for a quicky, and there'd be a good bit of kinky bondage. Spot wants them to stop hiding in the Factory and fucking but between this and Team A6 he just cannot bring up the level of energy to give a fuck.

If spooky challenges are particularly your jam, we’d love to see what you do with ours when you’ve got the whole year to tackle it!

entries—Your fanwork is NOT required to use the prompt exactly as it appears on this list. Prompts need only inspire your fanwork, whether they appear word for word in it or not. However the prompt inspires you is correct, as far as we’re concerned. Subvert the prompt, reverse the prompt, marry the prompt—it’s up to you.

All forms of fannish works are accepted and encouraged for this event! Fanfic, fanart, poetry, podfics, fanvids, playlists, fiber and other crafts, fan edits, moodboards, etc.

Over the Mountain - Over the Mountain is a solo rural fantasy journaling game on one page. Your character lives in a small mountain town and records their journey to carry out their Calling as they get to know the local human and spirit Neighbors, find bizarre items to collect, and clear the strange Dungeons found throughout. Will your curious character stick with their mission long enough to fill an entire journal?  What Achievements might they unlock? 

Pokemon Polyhedral - Pokémon Polyhedral: Micro Edition is an A6 size solo RPG that is narrative lite and dice heavy. Roll dice to encounter Pokémon. Roll dice to capture them. Roll dice to level up and evolve them. Roll dice to use your team to defeat Team Rocket, Gym Leaders, and the Elite Four. 

3x3 RPG - 3x3 RPG is the d20 RPG ruleset that fits in your wallet.  You only need the main ruleset card and a d20 to play. Play while you're waiting for food or before an appointment. All the other cards are optional. Where rules are unclear, you're encouraged to pick whatever is most fun. It was made with solo play in mind first and foremost but a GM and other players could easily be added.

What do you think a side story based around Reserve Op Team A6 would look like?

Good question. Team A6 has Looney Tunes energy so I don't think it should be too serious, maybe just a low-key exploration of life aboard the landship or perhaps the kind of work Rhodes Island does when not dealing with Big Plot Events. I think a vignette-style event featuring the team members and maybe a few of Rhodes Island's prominent figures would work really well for the first option, and you could do something like Team A6 protecting a shipment of supplies to a remote village from bandits or mercenaries or something and use the opportunity to do a little worldbuilding, or maybe you could take advantage of Midnight's connection to Higashi or Spot's connection to Saigon, both relatively underexplored areas.

Event mechanics need to be a little silly. Midnight defeats the final boss by showing her his glistening oily pecs while Popukar sneaks up and whacks her on the head and Orchid guzzles headache medicine from the bottle or something

reserve op a6 are probably some of my favourite ops with Spot at the top and it would all be great if not for the fact I can't draw anyone from the team properly it's bs

I think whats funny about Team A6, you have The Guy who was Too Quirky for his Own Good (Spot), being an actual heir to some rich family in Sargon. Another one of the pillars of A6 in keeping it stable but he's a comic book nerd and uses some of his money to buy comics to read in his spare time as it was one of his only outlets when he was repressed within his family. You have Majima (vampire; Midnight) Whose using his persona as a way to shield his own emotions and struggles from harming others to keep morale high. The Demon King of Higashi's nightlife. You have the complete opposite of that (Orchid) who represses her emotions because otherwise people may get hurt if there's not someone taking charge, and breaks their back trying to make sure life for the infected is as stress-free as possible, pioneering fashionable ways to cover oripathy scars.

Popukar who has TOO MUCH going on with her delusions as well as what power she has to make the others in A6 stop fighting. She's such a small, traumatized bean that most stop fighting just because she gets so angry that it causes her to burn out and pass out. Then you have Catapult. Catapult is honestly the most interesting character to me in both a meta sense - with how she's viewed on by a majority of people within the fandom - and within the lore. Catapult is one of those characters that needs a look far deeper compared to what it says in her archive logs and voice lines. Because while she does have a very radioactive lackadaisical attitude and very little respect for her coworkers, (calling Dobermann a bitch, or being the main troublemaker for Orchid), if you look deeper within both Orchids logs and Catapults you can find out that Catapult really is good at heart despite her toxic nature outwardly. We know she was in the Kazimierz military as well as doing a lot of shit to get out of it. But here in the Kazimerz military it's where you can find the root of why she has such big problems with authority - where in she did as she usually did: causing loads of problems. She found out that one of the mayors of a town she was stationed in was engaging within criminal means to profit off the towns suffering and in that she blew up one of the banks that was one of the main ill's used to line this officials pockets. Of course she was court martial'd and most likely kicked or exiled out of Kazimierz for the act, but here in lies the problem: She doesn't believe authority cares at all for the little guy. To her, anyone high ranking probably doesn't give a shit about the lower peon just like the mayor didn't or her higher ups within the military. Hence why that spreads to Rhodes Island. She calls Dobermann a bitch, most likely because of her military, dogmatic attitude reminding her of the stuck up officers who degraded her within the military instead of punishing the mayor.

But for Orchid, that's a bit of a different issue. She's only a problem child around Orchid, because Orchid reacts without pushing her away or throwing her out, but actively trying to improve Catapult and try to make her a better person. Orchid is probably the only one, with authority, to show Catapult that one with authority can truly care for another person below their rank. So Catapult tests this, again and again and again, to find its not wavering. Which is probably the only kindness she's had given to her from the start.

This doesn't mean she's free from being a toxic person she's still going to blow up Rhodes Island if that love or care ever does die, but the nuance is there, I feel. In summary, Catapult isn't an outwardly awful person, It's just a trauma response to authority figures fucking around and finding out.

Hi there! My name is Fay Roberts, and I’m the founder of Allographic Press, which has been running since August 2011.

In this post, I’ll be telling you a bit about Allographic, about the new initiative we’re launching this week, and how you can submit work to the next anthology.

About Allographic

Allographic’s founding aim, and continuing mission, is to platform the voices less heard, raising marginalised stories into mainstream view as much as possible. So far we’ve mostly achieved that through open mic guest artists, hosting special performances, supporting the Other Voices show at Edinburgh Fringe (intersectional feminist spoken word cabaret), and focusing mostly on publishing single collections by people of marginalised identities.

New Venture

Now we want to go a step further, bringing back the Small Word anthologies we used to do, and theming them for a variety of experiences less explicitly well-represented on the publishing scene in the UK. The initial plan is for them to come out quarterly, in limited runs of 100 printed copies of A6 pamphlets, plus using ebook technology on a variety of platforms, to make the work more accessible. Please follow this blog and our various social media outlets, for news of the anthologies as they come up.

Submit to the anthology

So, to kick off, we’ll be producing an anthology based around the notion of neurodiversity – whether that’s autism, ADD/ADHD, synaesthesia, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, hyperlexia, Tourette’s Syndrome, or any of the other experiences that sit under the banner of neurodivergence – we want to publish your poems, stories, essays, photos, and original artwork (though please note that the latter two will be in black-and-white in the print versions). Please note that, for the purposes of this publication, self-diagnosis is perfectly valid as a basis for writing about the experience of neurodivergence. The working title for the anthology is currently Synaptic Resonance, but we’re definitely open to alternatives if you come up with something better!

Timelines

The deadline for submission is 28-Feb-23; we’ll be closing the form at midnight on 1-Mar-23 (GMT), with an aim to publish at the beginning of April 2023, with an online launch event shortly afterwards. It’s free to enter, and, if your work is selected, you’ll receive a free copy of the printed pamphlet and ebook. As with all these themed anthologies, we’ll be asking about your personal connection to the theme, as we’ll be prioritising selecting the work of folk who are neurodivergent themselves in this instance. The limit on entries is 3 pieces, with no limit on length (though we may reserve the right to publish an excerpt with a link to the full version online, especially for essays/ stories, etc.), and each piece must be submitted in its own separate file (see form for details – MS Word, ODT, and RTF files are fine, ditto PNG and JPG for artwork, but no pdfs). If you submit more than one piece per file, we will ignore anything beyond the first piece. Please note that for poetry and prose we are after pieces that are completely or mostly written in the English language, as we currently do not have the means to proofread other languages beyond Google Translate! You should hear within two weeks of the closing date whether your piece has been selected. Please note that we do not have the capacity to give feedback on individual pieces at this time, and we will not be accepting unsolicited manuscripts, or submissions via any means but the form provided, mostly because we’re a tiny team and there have to be some limits!

Some teams I’ve been thinking to build in HSR

March 7th (Swordmaster) & Dr Ratio Dual Hypercarry- Since Swordmaster!March has a Skill that can directly benefit from having a Shifu that can help to boost her DMG, my first thought went to Dr Ratio since he’s also a Imaginary/Hunt unit too. Besides I can’t help but think of the chaos by having these two. All I just need to do is slap on the Izumo Planar set on her and we’re all set! (Although Aven can also work too since he is of the same type as her)

Blade & Feixiao Mono Wind Dual Hypercarry/ Blade Mono Wind Hypercarry- So since I’m very close to finish building Bladie (I need to unlock his A6 Traces first), I thought about doing a Dual Hypercarry setup with Feixiao, Blade, Bronya and Huohuo (assuming I can get both her and Feixiao). If I only got Huohuo but not Feixiao, then I can use Sampo as a substitute as a DoT enabler.

These are all of the things I’m thinking about building my teams at the moment. What are your opinions on all this? Please feel free to comment on them.

Powered by Pokemon is a improvisational TTRPG based on the Powered by the Apocalypse system, drawing heavy inspiration form the Monster of the Week game.

In this game, most of you are stepping into this world as a human, a trainer! People who face the trials and tribulations of life with a pokemon partner by their side. One of you will be The Keeper. The Keeper will be in charge of starting you down the path of your story, bringing the world to life and portraying the People and Pokemon you meet.

While the dice system is PbtA, this Pokemon game uses type matching just like the video games, affecting how your Pokemon will deal damage and take damage. Your Pokemon will also level up similar to Pokemon levelling-up in the video games, from level 1 to 100!

Pocket Monsters Manual, by Tragos Games.

Pocket Monsters Manual is a roleplaying game about capturing, training, battling and evolving monsters. 

It has a few marked difference from a typical Pokemon game. Monsters have types just like Pokemon, but a player trainer must select two types and from the beginning onwards, may only only use monsters that belong to at least one of the two types. Additionally, most monsters have a Maximum Level - not all evolve to the same extent. Trainers will also tier up, which feels like an analogue to badge collecting. 

There are also familiar hallmarks in Pokemon in this game - monsters faint rather than die, health can be restored in a healing centre or with potions, and type matching can increase or decrease your effectiveness in a fight. All in all this game is extremely rules-light, and leaves most of the world creation to the group or the GM.

Animon Story, by Zak Barouh.

Jump into the world of Animon with this original tabletop roleplaying game inspired by beloved anime and video games. You'll take on the role of Kids who team up with their very own monster buddies called Animon. Together you'll go on adventures, grow as friends, and maybe even save the world!

This book contains everything you need to create unique characters and tell your own stories, with rules designed to encourage and support your creativity. It has beautiful art and unique creatures, with a unique elements system that doesn’t follow either Pokemon or Digimon conventions, but does allow you to create your own unique creatures!

If you want to try before you buy, you can get the Animon Playkit, and if you want more Animon content, you can pick up the Ani-thology (a supplement with adventures for your crew) and the Shutterbug, an additional Kid type for this game.

Pilgrimon, by The Bardic Inquiry.

PILGRIMON is a roleplaying game designed for short campaigns about humans and their monster companions going on an adventure to realize their dreams.

One player will take on the role of the professor and will use the supplied tools to create a changing map for the trainers to explore as well as engaging scenes that will drive the trainers towards their dreams.

Pilgrimon is a slimmed-down Pokemon game, with different creatures that have evolution mechanics and a type-matching table.  It includes different kinds of scenes for combat, exploration, journeys, and caring for your creatures. In this game, it’s the journey that’s in focus more than anything else.

Pokemon Polyhedral: Micro Edition, by march crow.

Pokémon Polyhedral: Micro Edition is an A6 size solo RPG that is narrative lite and dice heavy. 

Roll dice to encounter Pokémon. Roll dice to capture them. Roll dice to level up and evolve them. Roll dice to use your team to defeat Team Rocket, Gym Leaders, and the Elite Four. 

This game uses only the original 150 Pokemon, although you could likely make your own roll tables that have future generations included as well. The battling rules are extremely slimmed down, and uses everything from a d4 to a d20. There are instructions and quick stats for battling wild Pokemon, trainers, Team Rocket, Gym Leaders and the Elite Four! This game is extremely bare-bones, but is likely the closest to replicating the original Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow games.

Pokemon Dungeon Crawler, by Batts.

This is an unofficial Pokémon dungeon crawler. You play as a Pokémon in a world after humans. You get a dungeon delving class (cleric, fighter, magic-user), you get a backpack, a weapon, and you head out on an adventure.

This game plays similar to OSR-style games with a d20, roll-under system. Most rolls are player-facing; Players roll to attack and to dodge while the Game Master uses dice to keep track of the various complexities of dungeon crawling.

This is the only game in this list in which you are a Pokemon, rather than a human trainer. If you’re looking to replicate a bit of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, this is likely the game you’re looking for. The game restricts your choices to 20 1st-gen Pokemon, because each of those 20 Pokémon get a custom sheet. If you want to play as a different Pokemon, you might have to flex your writing muscles!
