ajsdk she's been saying the main couple for twp is going to be kitty, a queer couple, and now imagine how its going to look if she retracts that and instead makes it dru and ash

I knowwwww and also like?? There's so much content for Kitty already that it would be so weird to then put them in the background and bring this irrelevant couple to the front??

I think it doesn't even matter tho bc we as a fandom have collectively decided to ignore any implications of Dru possibly being the main MC and Dru/Ash being the main couple and go with what we know is true 😙

Also she really has been saying that for a long time tho, like since 2014. And when she made the announcement of who TWP will be about she tagged Dru's name on at the end like how are you gonna turn around and make HER the main character when you fr have the most MC of MC's sitting right there (Kit).

Although at the end of the day I wouldn't be surprised if CC decided to, after saying for YEARS it was gonna be a MLM couple, pretend she never said it and give some vague ass excuses that contradict each other to make another boring F/M couple.

Sorry to everyone who sees me reacting abt this whole thing like the way I am and thinks I'm overreacting, but Kit being the main character of TWP was always so important and special to me, it feels like something's being taken from me. even if it doesn't make sense why to you lol

Following in line with this post by @tea-and-a-clandestine-agenda and @aroace-cat-lady which is awesome, I want to add that, like, all of the short stories and teasers pre-ChoG had always hinted at the fact that TLH that James was supposed to be a trope subversion of the Noble Passionate Herondale, and that ChoT was supposed to end in a dark way. Not in an "everyone dies" way, but, in a "the secrets and lies and miscommunication of this era will have long-term effects" kind of way. The whole reason why we're constantly reminded that this generation was so sheltered was because there was always something under the surface. Where was the "my father was cursed, but me? i'm damned" James Herondale? Where were the real consequences of being tangled in a chain of thorns? Where was the bittersweetness we got at the end of Great Expectations that was supposed to translate into the Epilogue that was... a picnic.

The ending was far too idyllic and convenient and, as you rightly said, very Bridgerton, for the Historical Era to be closed off. Not to mention that the Family Tree explanation, Jesse's return to life being generally accepted, and Kit's death were complete cop-outs. As some mutuals were saying to me, there's a significantly darker ChoT that exists or almost existed. Not one where more people die or anything so obvious, but one where everyone remains with a skeleton in the closet, one where not everyone gets exactly what they want, and one where the chain of secrets and lies and miscommunication had long-term social or emotional consequences, or where the main characters had to make an actual sacrifice.

As far as I'm concerned, only Matthew (and Thomas and Alastair) got fitting endings.

@tea-and-a-clandestine-agenda sort of pushed me to write this.

I've been re-reading chain of gold and chain of iron in preparation for chain of thorns, and I'm pretty sure that cc has been foreshadowing Matthew's becoming a vampire for a long time. We aren't crazy.

CC's known to pepper hints here and there that you only become aware of once you go back to analyse her stuff. For example, she mentioned the illness from chog in Simon's short story novella and then at the beginning of choi Cordelia mentions James running away to France (when that's what she did).

There are two main reasons why Matthew could become a vampire:

There's a scene in chog when Matthew recites his would-be epitaph

"shed not for him the bitter tear // nor give the heart to vain regret; // tis but the casket that lies here, // the gem that filled it sparkles yet" sounds pretty much like a prediction of his death, only we shouldn't be sad because Matthew's somehow alive. The only way he could be alive when he's died is if he'd become a vampire.

Chapter 29 of chot is titled "exile from light". Vampires can't see the light. Someone ought to have become a vampire and I have my money on the guy who wrote his epitaph

Also, James has talked about his fear of losing Matthew too many times.

The possibility of Matthew becoming a (blue-haired given that one comment he threw at Cordelia in chot) vampire is somewhat high, and Lily could very much turn him. I personally think he'll "die" in James's arms because that would mirror the time James almost died in chog but only CC knows that.

It’s almost 2023, so let’s celebrate the good things that happened to us in 2022! List ten amazing things that happened to you this year and then send this to ten people who brighten your day!

thank you for the ask this is such a lovely idea and way to show gratitude!

1. I got closer with my friends and made new ones!! Both people here on tumblr and my real friends at college and I’m very thankful for that <3

2. I got to travel a lot and see new places! Traveling is one of my favorite hobby and I was so glad to see so much of the world this year. (tsc related i got to see rome <3 for malec)

3. despite struggling with my mental health i took a LOT of classes and kinda kicked ass in (some of) them yay education

4. I learned more about myself, my values and what I want from my life and I’m excited about that!

5. This is so dumb but watching my tv shows!!! I started watching greys in October, had 911 and 911 lone star throughout the year and shadowhunters is always my show before bed so i can see my good friends the tmi gang <3 in 2023 im going to tally how many times i watch shadowhunters 1x12

6. I got to read a LOT of fanfiction!!! specifically works of @khaleesiofalicante (i love you Dani!!) but fanfiction in itself is so so cool because it gives existing characters a whole new realm and it’s awesome and it’s my coping mechanism.

7. I became even closer to achieving my dreams. Not to be cheesy but i am applying for a Dream internship very very very soon and everything i did this year career wise was really amazing and helped me grow!

8. i think i did a good amount to get out of my comfort zone! even tho it was so scary it did help me grow as well and my 2021 self would NEVER believe what I’ve accomplished!!

9. I realized my worth and have come into myself more! I think knowing yourself is really important and I think I’ve done a good job at establishing who I am (this is similar to #4 but I’m proud of myself) I feel like you can even see this on my blog a bit because I’m not JUST tsc anymore I talk about my life sometimes

10. SOBH!!!!! sobh was one of the highlights of my 2021 and 2022 year and im so thankful for the laughter and the tears it gave me and how much I looked forward to Mondays because of it (and 911!)
