I saw TdV live again. before I watched it I was like "I can't get sucked back into a full on obsession. there's little to no content for it online this is hell". I'm happy to announce that I have in fact been sucked in full force yet AGAIN. this is literally the only reason I am even using tumblr at this point lol

watched tanz der vampire with my sister and very much enjoyed it, so i pulled up my copy of the broadway version to peek what the herbert and alfred duet was like there, mostly to see if they kept the gay. and boy. did they.
it does have the unfortunate side effect of looping max von essen saying "listen, i'm straight" in my head a million times. why was that so funny i am losing it,

Jim Steinman also wrote Total Eclipse of the Heart, and apparently it was famous in the US before he recycled the melody for a German-language musical about vampires (Tanz der Vampire), however he figured it was basically okay because he wrote it to be a vampire love song:

apparently celine’s “all coming back to me now” is a cover and the original music video is about a woman who dies during a ritualistic bdsm orgy?

claudia singing my baby loves windows as she dies to show the audience that no, this isn't fake, she is in front of them as claudia the actor, not claudia the character, and she is about to die. breaking the fourth wall of the play in a way that the script didn't, and everything you are seeing is NOT fake
i may be way off base here and i don't know if it'd happen with only one episode left, but i want to see the diehard tdv groupies put those dots together and realise they actually just watched a murder. and maybe start a fire in the theatre about it

The Penguin series (POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD!)
My thoughts on the new penguin sneak peek with the reveal of Sofia Falcone as one of the main characters (my first post and a rant, but that's because I love Sofia Falcone).
Tumblr media
So the new trailer came out for the Penguin series that follows Oswald Cobblepot in the battinson universe, and we finally got a new live-action Sofia Falcone! There were a lot of people confused in the comments about why he was trembling because of her, and I'm here to clear that up. Because Sofia is a menace to society and also so mother (yes, and no, this is a himym ref!). But seriously, including such a minor character in a major series is a great thing!
I really hope some people will read the comics before or in the aftermath of the show, to inform themselves on the lore about Falcones, especially the Long Halloween (I especially remember her in Dark Victory, a sequel to TLH, because she was so enjoyable in that comic). (The only thing I liked about Gotham Sofia was her actress, so no more mention of her, she doesn't exist.) She was so intimidating on that run. The animated movie was a good portrayal too!
Tumblr media
I really think this is a great opportunity to show the non-comic readers a great female antagonist, especially with her being a huge complication for Batman and the storyline in TDV. I'm hoping for a Janice Porter and/or Harvey Dent cameo too! Gotham politics are genuinely one of the things that made me interested in that part of Batman comics, and I just hope they won't screw it up. Well, I'm also very interested in the cast of this series. I mean, this is a very nice set-up with Mark Strong (which I presume will be Black Mask, so even more of Gotham's mob, yipe!), Michael Kelly, Clancy Brown, and of course Cristin Milioti as Sofia. I have huge, huge, huge hopes for this series. I'm going to watch it right away, and I want the rating to be good. Maybe we'll get another spin-off for Arkham? Battinson DC universe is built so well, and The Penguin will succeed. I'm manifesting!

so reading all these post-show interviews and articles, it seems that armand's story with the TdV is:
the coven really did confront armand and he really did turn on louis in order to stay in the fold. yes, he did direct the play but that was his role in the theater. he was still punished by having to watch and had to do grunt work afterwards.
this all happened because, when louis was still going to turn madeleine despite armand telling him no, and when louis just walked away when armand was upset by the whole thing, armand had the realization that “This guy can live without me. What am I doing?”
so he's telling the truth when he tells louis he didn't know how long his affections for him would last so he picked the coven.
his betrayal was that he didn't save louis – he wouldn't risk going against the coven for that – and he took credit for what lestat did. that doesn't mean he masterminded the trial (that was still santiago) or wanted it to happen.
we'll see if any of that gets complicated as time goes on... i also think that obviously armand could have gotten out of all that by just taking control, flexing his powers again, he is strong enough, but i can perhaps be convinced that armand doesn't internalize that about himself.
as lestat says in the books, "You've been the slave of everything that ever claimed you."

i will never forgive this fandom for grossly misinterpreting the loumand bench scene in ep 4 (and loumand in general - it's a whole thing). it's easily the most romantic scene of the season, if not the series (rivals the ep 1 church scene for me). the music, the way they stare at each other, the rapid succession of "i want you. i want you more than anything in the world" + "you sure about that arun" + "yes maitre" + louis making eyes at their cigarettes + armand lighting their cigarettes + louis throwing the lighter away + tdv voyeurism = literally the most romantic and erotic scene i've even seen on television!!! makes me swoon every time i watch it!

but then i have to see wild ass sex slave abuser takes and i'm convinced most of y'all are not mature enough for this show.

IWTV Book/Show Spoilers
This is about Claudia and it is about to get sad.
I have been obsessively thinking about Claudia and the TdV coven. Since I can't seem to distract myself, I need someone to suffer with me.
We know Claudia's fate. It is literally the sword of Damocles hanging above us all. Conceptually, I know these motherfuckers are gonna betray her, but I don't think I can bear to see it. Like her face in episode two at Santiago's performance, she was so in awe, so excited to finally find someone, anyone, that might be like her. The way she was so happy after the mansion. She really felt like she belonged with these people.
And I know, in the books, after Madeleine gets turned they, eventually, decide to run off, but she still had her first sense of belonging with this coven.
If the show, as I think it will, starts sprinkling these cute scenes of Claudia and the coven being a community, and not just in the vampiric sense, like talking about fucking star charts, fashion, hobbies, learning lines, etc...
I'm not gonna be able to watch the realization on Claudia's face during the trial that all of it has been a lie. I can't bear the thought that one of Claudia's last memories on this Earth is that she was never accepted, never wanted for who she is.
Especially since I think the trial episode will end with Claudia and Madeleine's death and we will only see Louis' reckoning in the next episode.
I can't wait a whole week.
I will need to see Louis fucking these motherfuckers up. I need him to tear them limb from limb. Claudia should not leave this Earth thinking her only feeling of belonging was a farce.
