Hannah surprises James today at the beanpot. She said she couldn’t make it but she could and wanted to surprise him.
you read my mindddd😌 the blurb immediately came to me when i saw the beanpot posts HAHA
au masterlist
the td garden was packed with boston college and northeastern fans for the highly anticipated annual beanpot. fans lined the arena and across the wall as the players poured onto the ice to start warmups. the students were on their feet yelling down to the eagles and booing northeastern. the boys ate it up through as they skated the around the glass encouraging the fans to keep it going.
there was one fan in the crowd tucked away that none of the players would recognize her unless she made herself more apparent. hannah and james talked earlier in the week where the gymnast mentioned that she probably didn’t think she could convince her coach to give her off for a day. james was slightly disappointed, but he did understand because negotiating with college coaches wasn’t easy.
however, what james didn’t know was that hannah already had her ticket booked for the game when they talked. the girl was starting to turn into samy because she just loved the idea of getting to surprise her boyfriend and just showing up after convincing him she wouldn’t be there.
she spotted his number 10 down on the ice doing his usual warmups with the guys. a proud smile sat on her lips knowing how much he was looking forward to this game and how much it meant to him to finally be able to play in it. tonight hannah sported some old boston college merch samy lended and she painted a small #10 on her cheeks and then the eagle on the other.
the younger duke sister wasn’t exactly sure how she wanted to make herself apparent or known that she was in attendance. she didn’t know if telling james before the game would distract him, or if just waiting until after would be better? or if him spotting her in the middle of the game would be even worse?
hannah didn’t really have time to contemplate her answers much longer because someone did end up spotting her. as ryan flew past her section, his eyes were on the fans and that’s when he spotted her familiar face in the sea of crimson. the brunette stopped in his tracks and skated back, a wide, confused smile on his lips.
“duker!” he yelled making the girl flush when the other boston college students glanced in her direction.
ryan looked excited to see her. he spun on his skate to find james to tell him who was here. hannah’s blush rose when some of the other fans noticed and recognized who she was.
“haggy! you’re never gonna guess who’s here!” ryan yelled when he got closer to his teammate who was on the other end of the rink.
“who?” james wondered.
“your girl is here,” ryan grinned widely and james’ shocked expression mirrored his own seconds ago.
“hannah’s here?”
“yeah!” ryan pulled james’ arm back towards hannah’s section. he pointed up to the girl who shyly waved down at them.
james’ mouth dropped open in complete shock and then a warm, fuzzy feeling bursted throughout his chest as the happiness slowly overtook the surprise.
she was here.
“go say hi, i’ll cover for you,” ryan pushed the boy towards the door where hannah was already making her way to the floor.
james lifted up his helmet briefly when hannah stood before him, “you’re here,” he mumbled.
“i’m here. surprise,” the gymnast grinned.
“i can’t believe you’re here. i-i thought..how did you?..” the words died in his throat along with every coherent thought in his brain.
“i may have sort of lied when we talked last week. i already had the flight booked. figured i’d try out this whole surprise thing,” hannah giggled and james didn’t even care that the entire boston college student body was watching him.
he pulled her into his arms, that warm feeling spreading throughout his entire body at the feeling of her wrapped around him. james wouldn’t admit this out loud, but he missed having her in his arms like this.
“i missed you so much. i can’t believe you’re here,” he mumbled into her shoulder.
“i missed you too, hags. it’s good to see you,” hannah smiled and james also couldn’t stop himself from kissing her.
he heard a few whistles probably from the students watching them still, but he couldn’t less. he hadn’t seen hannah since winter break and even that wasn’t enough time because of world juniors taking up a majority of that break.
hannah slowly directed their lips away knowing people were watching and they could save it for after the game when an entire arena couldn’t see them. “you should get back, but i’ll see you after. score some goals for me,” she smiled.
“oh, you know i will,” the boy beamed, kissing her one last time before skating back on before one of the coaches yelled at him.
hannah blushed before making her way back to her seat. a few of the fans glanced her way, but she mostly ignored the murmurs.
that was probably the most public they’ve ever been with their relationship and neither of them hated it. actually, it sent this strong feeling through james’ chest that everyone just watched him kiss his girlfriend in a sold out arena because now everyone knew she was his.
the eagles dominated the ice in an overwhelming 8-2 victory. the fans were loud and electric as they celebrated the first win of the tournament. hannah kept to herself outside of the locker rooms. she watched the replays of all of the game winning goals knowing james was going to be ridding a really good high tonight.
the boy was eager to see her again, so he basically rushed through his shower. he knew he didn’t have a lot of time until he needed to get back on the bus, but he hoped hannah was up for crashing at his dorm for the night.
he rushed out of the locker room in search of her. hannah looked up as soon as james started running towards her, now back in his suit with damp hair from his shower. she giggled when he wrapped her into his arms and spun her around.
“congrats on the win,” she smiled.
“i told you i’d score some goals,” james smiled as well.
“you were amazing out there. i’m proud of you,” the girl gushed.
he took this more quieter opportunity to kiss her without the anxiety of everyone watching. their lips moved in slow sync with each others, savoring it more than before. if james could kiss her all night he would because he would never get over the feeling of her lips on his.
“i’m so glad you came. i was really hoping you would,” the hockey player said when they finally pulled away.
“i’d never miss this. this is your moment,” hannah cupped his face where he leaned into her touch.
“i gotta get back on the bus soon, but what are the chances you’ll come crash at my dorm?” the boy grinned.
“100%, just tell me when,” hannah agreed.
“perfect, i will. god, i’m so glad you’re here. i’ll see you super soon,” james kissed her one last time before meeting his team.
hannah smiled to herself, that same warm, fuzzy feeling bubbling in her own stomach as she headed back to her hotel to await james’ text that she could head to his dorm.

not sure if you write for him, but in light of matthew poitras scoring his first and second nhl goals tonight, could you write a fluffy piece about y/n watching him score both goals from the stands and just throwing herself at him outside the locker room after the game? like straight up comes running down the hall smiling her ass off and jumps onto him like CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! and even after he puts her down she can’t shut up about it, and she’s all giddy for him 😂 then, maybe her rambling about how proud of him she is on the drive home and he can’t stop laughing/smiling because he thinks it’s both adorable and absolutely hilarious at the same time lol
i’ve been on my matty shit since the second i laid eyes on that man (he’s SO FINE) but he’s still not very known and there’s nothinggggg on tumblr for him, so it would mean the world to have this req written!! thank you in advance! 🫶🏼✨
FIRST STAR OF THE GAME
yoooo... this was sent in a while ago, like almost a year ago lol n e ways, lets ignore that because matthew is so slaytastic (and still very underrated)! also, requests are open!
you checked your outfit one last time in the mirror, making sure everything look good, "you look so amazing, stop worrying." your friend laughed as she watched you from the bed.
you and her had decided to follow the team for the first road trip of the season. the bruins had won the first two games, so you were anxious for the last one.
"i can't help it." you sighed, tussling your hair again, "i'm just nervous." you sighed.
"i know, but regardless of what happens, we're gonna have a blast." she reminded you, getting off the bed and slipping her jacket on.
"you're right." you sighed.
"i know i am." she joked, "now, please, let's get going." she grabbed her jacket and practically pushed you out the door.
once at the arena, you grabbed a drink and some chicken tenders before making your way down to your seats, "sporting even chicken tenders just hit different." you smiled at her joke as you dipped your own chicken tender in some sauce.
the entire game, you were nervous. your body was filled with nerves as the third period started, and the score was still 0-0. you sank back in your seat when mactavish scored the first goal for the ducks.
but, things started to turn around. with a little more than 13 minutes left on the clock, you watched the puck dance around the ice before it was passed from geekie over to matthew.
he took his shot, and shot for the left side of the goal, and a roar came from the crowd. your friend beat you to it, and jumped up, sharking your shoulders as you watched matthew be embraced by his teammates.
"he did it?!" your eyesbrows shot up as you jumped up, hugging your friend, feeling tears come to your eyes. you cheered with everyone else as you watched him skate along the bench and get his high fives.
a few minutes after his first goal, you were back on your feet when matthew scored a second goal, and that time, you full-on cried, earnings a few stares from the people around you, but you couldn't care less.
the buzzer rang at the end of the game, and you sat in your seat, taking everything in. sure, you weren't at home, but this game wouldn't be one you would forget.
"...and for your first star of the night, from the boston bruins, matthew poitras!" your friend whipped out her phone, having a feeling your beloved number 51 would be the first star of the game, and managing to get your reaction.
you waited around in your seats for matthew. you barely knew your way around td, so you decided that matthew would meat you at your seats after the game.
when you saw him coming up the steps, you jumped up and practically jumped into his arms. he caught you with a chuckle, falling back a few steps, but catching himself.
"i'm so proud of you." you whispered into his ear, pulling away and holding his face in your hands, "2 goals!" you jumped.
"i know." the look on his face was one you couldn't put into words.
back at the hotel, you and matthew were in his room. you were sitting on the bed while he showered and changed.
when he came out of the bathroom, you couldn’t help but smile, “i’m so proud of you.” you beamed, pulling him in and hugging him.
“you being here means so much to me.” he kissed your head.
“i’m happy to have been by your side for this.” you nudged his side, “tonight was so awesome, your goals aside…” you continued on.
matthew watched you the entire time, watching your eyes light up as you spoke and explained every detail from the game.
“i’m glad you had so much fun.” he laughed, before letting out a yawn.
“i’m losing you, poitras.” you teased.
“no, no, keep going.” he shook his head.
you playfully rolled your eyes, but continued talking. somewhere between you talking about the guy sitting next to you chugging a beer, and a person a few rows behind you offering to take your friend out on a date, matthew fell asleep.
you looked over at him, and couldn’t help but smile when you saw him sleeping peacefully, “next time, just tell me to stop talking.” you joked, kissing his forehead.
you caressed his cheek before reaching over and turning the light off, “i’m so proud of you, matty.”
requests are open!!

Nightmare on Causeway street shirt
Picturestees - United States Trending T-shirt Nightmare on Causeway street shirt
Last year, Terry Schier’s “Scary Terry” line was spread during his playoff as an initiator for the Celtics. Nightmare on Causeway Street shirt. Whose T-shirt with Rozier rocking a Scream-style mask. Now Marcus Morris has taken this concept to a whole new level. In front of Boston’s opening goal against Philadelphia, Morris was shown a shirt that included a host of other Celtics players with their Halloween monsters. Highlights include Brad Stevens as Hannibal Lecter’s madness, Gordon Hayward as Frankenstein (complete with cast), Jayson Tatum as Freddy, and Jaylen Brown as Jigsaw. Lucky the Leprechaun even has a feature like Chucky. A real nightmare on Causeway Street.
Nightmare On Causeway Street: The Dougie Hamilton Trade Is Dumb As Hell
The Celtics have all the monsters to compete for an NBA championship. This is their chance to open the strong season and give the nightmare to all their future opponents. As I walked out the door of TD Garden last night, the only feeling I woke up from a nightmare would never end. Of course what I am saying is that the Boston Bruins are not likely to do anything against the Montreal Canadiens and to reinforce the argument that these Bruins could be in inevitable defeat until April. Although the final score of the game is 2-1 and many statistics such as hits, footage, and face-to-face are closed; but anyone watching this game can easily see this game is not appropriate at the start. Montreal has decided the pace from the first confrontation and combined with Carey Price’s winning-winning play Hart.

Boston never seems to be able to sustain any real motive in the attack. David Pastrnak may have blown his life into the Garden with his commitment to playing on the net and breaking the streak off of the price, however, looking deeper into that statistic and seeing the fact that before Bruce’s Pally dubbed Bruins have not scored in almost eight times against Price dominating him in possession of this team. I pointed out the Bruins bug at an individual level, however, the biggest problem on the board was once against Bruins lack of physicality and endurance. Claude Julien has pointed out Bruins is unlikely to win his newspaper battle last night. It would be a thing if Montreal were circling skating but there are plenty of opportunities for Boston to crash the tables and make them pay every time they touch the puck.

One of the skills that allowed the Bruins. Nightmare on Causeway street shirt. To conquer the Canadiens over the years is the ability to maintain a rude. And uncomfortable tone when in the state of composition. Yes, the team seems to have disappeared and while a deal can improve their position in the standings. The whole team will have a long look in the mirror because it’s identity is missing. They will continue to infect them against the Canadiens this April. They did it, they really did that. The idiots in the media have won and the cap space problems. Bruins have bitten in the hardest possible way as Dougie Hamilton. Transported out of town for a look back not only paltry but ashamed in comparison.

Cold War On Ice VI
By Richard Lawrence
TD Place arena lit up as several hundred spectators, mostly Russian, cheered on the Embassy of the Russian Federation hockey team, the Red Machine, as they embarked on the first game of the 2019 edition of the Friendly Series Hockey games against the Esprit de Corps Commandos hockey team. This series is played in good spirits with a passing nod to the 1972 Summit Series which pitted the then U.S.S.R. against Canada for hockey domination.
Before we get too far into this it should be noted that not every player on the Red Machine team was Russian, using a few Canadians to fill out their complement and field a strong team. As well, Commandos were strong having a goalie with the name “Tretiak” on the back of his sweater and despite missing two key players in Ryan Lediett and Adam Peace.
The game started quickly with the teams coming out and only getting two minutes of warmup time before lining up for the national anthems, player introductions, and the ceremonial puck drop. Then it was into the first of the three 15 minutes periods which was marked by quick skating and crisp puck handling with each team marching back and forth and lines exchanging on the run. By the end of the first period the score was 0-0 showing how evenly matched the teams were. After a couple of minutes rest, the teams went out for the second period.
The second period was a mirror image of the first until with 5:54 to go, the Red Machine potted a goal. The Commandos fought back for the rest of the period but the second ended 1-0 for the Red Machine. The third period was no different in that both teams attacked relentlessly giving both goalies good workouts. With the Red Machine still ahead with 1:30 to go in the third, Commando captain, Scott Taylor, pulled the goalie for the extra player on the ice but the Red Machine managed to hang on for the win with the final score being 1-0.
At the reception following the game the series trophy was awarded to the Russian coach, Vladimir Proskuryakov, by the Russian Ambassador and the MVPs were named. For the Commandos, goalie Tim Dickenson (Tretiak) was selected by the Russians as the Commando most valuable player and for the Red Machine, the Commandos chose goalie Brandon James as the MVP with Evgeny Petrenko being selected as the MVP – Russian born.
All-in-all it was an exciting, well played, well matched game, played in the home of the Ottawa 67s, where the crowd of several hundred overwhelmingly Russian fans were treated to excellent entertainment.

Allison Janney Talks Tonya Harding’s Queerness, Girl Crushes
Allison Janney shares many of your concerns, like, what’s up with the president’s wild contradictions and flat-out lies? And what will happen to the LGBTQ community under his administration? And, of course, something we’ve all wondered from time to time, and an issue she definitely plans on addressing with her agent soon, because it’s high time: “Where are all my lesbian roles?”
Though her latest turn in I, Tonya is not queer by definition – but, as infamous figure-skating icon Tonya Harding’s mother (Harding is played by actress Margot Robbie), one of her very best and most Oscar-buzzy roles, so all is obviously forgiven – the chameleonic 58-year-old actress has delightedly dipped into some impressive gay fare both onstage and in film.
Here, the beloved and soon-to-be-lesbian-somewhere Emmy winner discusses Harding as a queer icon, identifying with the LGBTQ community as an “outsider” herself and kissing “a lot of cool women.”
LGBTQ people – we are all Tonya. Right? Everyone identifies with her.
Everyone can identify with Tonya because she’s struggling to have a voice, and the powers that be deemed that she was not worthy of having a voice in the figure skating world, didn’t think she fit in. It’s so classic. And then the press vilified her and we were all told what to believe about her, and we kind of believed it, because it was the advent of the 24-hour news cycle. Just spoon-fed to us every day: Tonya, bad; Nancy – princess, good.
So, to do this movie and to see all the different things that were at play in her life makes you have so much more empathy for her. And I was so excited to meet her at the premiere. She was there! I just wanted to hug her and hold her. Sometimes I’m not great with words, and I just wanted to hug her.
You play her disapproving monster of a mother, LaVona Golden, which will strike a chord with many people in the LGBTQ community who have experienced parental disapproval because of their sexuality.
Oh, sure!
Tonya has been called a gay icon. Do you see her as a gay icon?
I never have thought about it before, but now that you’re saying it, I understand the reasons why she would be.
She wanted to be loved for who she was.
Wanting to be loved for who she was! Absolutely, I can see why it would resonate with the gay community – with women too. With anyone who has felt like an underdog or not felt like they had a voice.
As I talk about this movie more and more to people like yourself, I’m learning more about it and why it’s resonating right now. It’s also the concept of truth and what that is, and you know, the media told us what to believe was true and we did, and now in this time that we’re living in with the president (being) wildly contradictory – it’s phenomenal to me what’s going on in the country and in our discourse, and (sighs) I just feel it’s one of the most divisive, scary times I’ve ever experienced in my lifetime, certainly.
WATCH:
youtube
You mentioned Tonya as the “underdog,” a word you have also used to describe yourself.
Yeah.
Do you think that has anything to do with why you’ve attracted a doting LGBTQ following?
Maybe that’s it! I was always just told I was too tall to act and told I wasn’t pretty enough, that I didn’t have enough edge. Didn’t have this, that. Everyone in the business told me that, and it was heartbreaking to me; and yet I tried to find other things to do, but this was really the only thing I was really meant to be, this time ’round (laughs).
I think it might also just be the characters that I get to play. Some of them speak to the community because they are that underdog character – now I’m trying to make up a theory out of something I haven’t thought about (laughs). But I also think it’s that I love to bring the humanity to every character I play.
I’m sure that your gay fans also appreciate that you seem to enjoy randomly kissing women.
I do! (Laughs) Oh my gosh, I don’t know if you’ve seen my kiss with Cloris Leachman but that is, like, the best kiss.
Better than Kate Winslet even?
How about that moment?! That floored me. And I just thought, “Did she just say my name?” (Winslet gushed about Janney at the Hollywood Film Awards in November.) It was one of the funniest moments for me, and I thought, “How can I not just go up and kiss her?” I mean, Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet – I’ve kissed a lot of cool women, and men!
In our 2016 interview, Meryl Streep told me kissing you was a real “perk.”
She said “perk”? I love her!
Is that what all the women say about kissing you?
I don’t know! Meryl is the only one I’ve gotten feedback on. Actually, no, Rosie! I got to kiss Rosie. Rosie said I was a good kisser. And Rosie O’Donnell is a great kisser, I have to say. She’s a very good kisser. On (the CBS sitcom) Mom, she plays a woman that I used to have a relationship with and there’s one episode where I kiss her a couple of times and it was really – she’s a good kisser! (Laughs)
What was the moment in your career you knew you had an LGBTQ following?
I feel like (1999’s) Drop Dead Gorgeous was the start of that for me. And it was a slow dawning, awakening, realization that was happening, and I thought that was the highest show of honor to be embraced by the gay community. It was like, “OK, you guys know.”
To me, it’s a high honor to be recognized and embraced by the gay community. I don’t want to say something stereotypical, but a lot of the men that I know, who are my dear friends have a real appreciation for women who are strong and powerful and kickass. They really, really love strong women. They’re not afraid of women the way that some heterosexual men are. But they love a strong dame. They love a dame! So, that’s high praise. It’s high praise coming from the gays. So I am thrilled that I am in that club.
Of the lesbian characters you’ve played, from Sally in The Hours to your lesbian roles in stage productions like Eve Ensler’s Ladies and Alan Ball’s Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, which do you wish you could’ve gotten to know more?
Probably my character in The Hours with Meryl. I would’ve liked to have gotten to know Sally and really explored that relationship. You know, my famous story with her with that kiss is that she gave me a facelift. She didn’t like the way we were lit in the scene and she said, “I’m gonna do you a favor, honey.” So she placed her hands on the side of my face and lifted it ever so gently. When you watch it next, look at that – it’s pretty great. A little Meryl lift. I got a little lift from Meryl. It was fantastic.
If you were to play another lesbian role, who would be your ideal co-star?
Whoa. Well, I kind of have a girl crush on Margot Robbie right now! (Laughs) She is so talented and so friggin’ beautiful – it’s kind of remarkable. I just find myself staring at her, like, how can anything be that beautiful? And she’s a really good actress, and you know, why not? Margot is on my mind right now, so I’m saying Margot.
There have been Tonya Harding impersonators, and after this film, I fully expect a few LaVona Golden queens.
Oh my god, do you really?
Her name alone is made for the stage at some gay bar, don’t you think?
It is a great name: LaVona! There was already someone on Halloween who dressed as LaVona. It was on Twitter and it made me laugh. It was a guy who dressed as LaVona, with the bowl haircut and the bird and the fur coat. It’s a real unique look.

1 of 1

Allison Janney as LaVona Golden in I, Tonya
Does looking the part help you get into character?
Oh god, yes. With that, especially. It was three hours of hair and makeup getting that look with the bird, and it was really liberating too. I thought I was gonna be horrified and not be able to look at myself in the mirror, and it was fascinating – I wanted to look at myself all the time! I was like, “God, this is so cool!” It felt just so different, and I didn’t see myself. I felt really confident in doing what I had to do. The look was so perfect and so great, and it made me excited to do my scenes.
I hope you got to keep a piece of LaVona.
I didn’t! But I was thinking about seeing if that bird could be adopted because I kind of fell in love with him. He lives in southern Georgia and he’s so lovely. But I do have three dogs and I don’t want there to be an unfortunate situation there.
Yeah, maybe give it to somebody who doesn’t have an animal that will eat it.
Yes! That’s always something to think about before you get a bird. (Laughs)
You’ve said you like to use your platform and acting to support important causes, which you’ve done in projects like 2009’s Funny or Die’s Prop 8 – The Musical. Do you recall the point in your life or career when you became passionate about queer issues?
I have so many gay friends in my world, and having such close friends in the gay community made me more aware of different issues. So, I’d naturally get involved through my friends. It happened when I came out to L.A. and I was doing West Wing. Once you start becoming someone – you know, a celebrity person – you realize, “Actually, I could help just by showing up there and by doing this.” It was a wonderful thing to realize, that I could use my name for something good other than the acting.
Does it feel even more important right now to take on projects that can make a difference?
Yes, yes! It really does. And I don’t know what I’m gonna be asked to do next, but I hope that I will be able to contribute.
I think now is the right time for another lesbian role, just sayin’.
OK, alright. I’m gonna start looking for one. Will you start looking for one for me? Should I do a biopic of – I’m trying to think, what lesbian should I play? I think it’s gotta be a character that’s not written yet.
Considering your trove of lesbian parts, I’m surprised lesbian roles aren’t just rolling in for you.
I don’t know – I don’t think so! I’m gonna have to call my agent: “Where are all my lesbian roles?” Oh, a pioneering lesbian! Amelia Earhart. I don’t know if she was. I’m gonna get on that though. I’m gonna start looking. That’s a good thing to put in my head.
