Days pass by in Jinzhou - one of Huanglong's six major cities. To add onto that, the only city in the Outer Huanglong, as it is one of the recent cities established in Huanglong and could be addressed to 'the throat of Huanglong'. It appears to be nestled within a great lake, embraced by the waters and cradled by the mountains. Jinzhou may be beautiful, but it doesn't stop the fact how dangerous the outside of those walls dug deep down into the waters, making contact with the sand. What lurks behind those enormous walls? Tacet discords, abbreviated as 'TD's, creatures that have the ability to mimic shapes and behaviors of others.
As the people who feared to become one of these beasts stay within the walls. A certain male roams behind them, arms raised up with his hands behind his head as he whistled a tune to himself, having to be sure not to get caught, otherwise he'd get thrown into jail. Who would this individual be? None other than Scar. To put more in his name, he can be known as one of the Overseer members for the Fractsidus - an organization whose ideals are currently to accelerate the next Lament. To bring more into that, another desire of theirs is to capture somebody by the name of 'Rover'.
Back to what was currently happening... Scar strolled around, waiting for Rover to come out of Jinzhou, to make another one of his many dramatic entrances. From the corner of Scar's eye, he is able to see a sort of bioluminescence light coming from within the waters, resting by the walls. That's odd... He could have sworn it was never there. Scar glances around, seeing nobody around, he bursts into sinister chuckles. "This is interesting. Let's see what lurks beneath this lake," Scar speaks out, rotating his body towards the edge and dives in with no hesitation.
Swimming further down until he floats in front of the spot that glowed so brightly. It appeared there was an opening, but it was pitch-black, unable to see what stays in there, but Scar went in, anyways - typical Scar. The deeper he went, the darker it was getting for him. At one point, he reached his hand out, wondering if there was anything resting in front of him. Through his gloved hand, he felt an odd, rough texture. With no fear of what it may be, he ripped it out of where it stayed, bringing it as close as possible to his face until he was able to detect what it may be. It was a... coral.
Hold on. Aren't coral supposed to appear more colorful? It looked completely lifeless. But at the same time, coral tend to look bleached when dead, no? Let's not forget, algae could surround it. This doesn't make any sense... If it's not alive, but it's not dead. Then what was it? Could this coral be a tacet discord?! No... not a possible. For what Scar knew, no tacet discord lives within the waters. Next thing Scar saw, shocked him. The suspected 'dead'-coral lit up in a marvelous shade of blue. The coral was bioluminescent! Within the sight of Scar, all of the organisms such as coral, algae, sea stars, fish, and a bunch of others lit up in the same hue of blue.
It was all bioluminescent! Who would have known the Jinzhou kept a secret like this! Yet for some odd reason, Scar could have sworn his breathe was being taken away from the sight... Wait... HIS BREATHE WAS BEING BEING TAKEN AWAY. Scar's eyes shot wide open, attempting to swim up, but due to feeling his own breathe disappearing, it was causing him to lose energy. Oh, well. Scar will always find his way back up! As he began to lose his consciousness, a silhouette of a person swam towards him, as reminiscent as a... jellyfish. Though he simply assumed it was the afterlife coming to retrieve his soul...
Tumblr media
What do you know! Scar's consciousness was coming back to him. As his eyes slowly flickered open, greeting by blurriness. Within Scar's vision, it looked like the same silhouette as before. The moment Scar snapped back into reality is when the figure leaned in towards him, pressing their lips against his - attempting to do CPR, but it appeared they weren't doing it correctly, an accidental kiss. Though Scar didn't bother to move a muscle, seeming to find what was happening, hilarious. Once the person moved back, letting out a gentle sigh out of their lips and opening their eyes to glance down at Scar, who they assumed was still passed out,
WAS LITERALLY SMIRKING UP AT THEM, alongside a snigger. Terrified by the fact he was literally greeted in the wrong way in the best way, they burst into screams - sounding as if it was music. Scar immediately sat up, slapping his gloved hand onto the person's skin that oddly glowed. Taking a couple of glances around, taking notice on how he appeared to be resting on the shore, far away from Jinzhou. Slowly moving his covered hand away from their hand, brushing against their lips.
Scar crossed his legs, pressing his elbow on his knee as he rested his cheek onto his knuckles. He took this opportunity to observe the individual - seeing how their skin had a sort of gentle shine to it, with clothing resembling a jellyfish. To put more detail into that, they appeared to swim like a jellyfish when coming in to save Scar. Scar's smirk grew wider, releasing a chuckle from his mouth. "I'm guessing you're the pretty stranger who saved me?" Scar questioned. Only to receive a confused expression from the person - dotted-eyes, with a gentle head tilt, as if they were fragile. Afraid to properly move.
"Hm, best guess: You can't understand me. Can you?" Scar asked. He gained no response, as expected. He had no issues with this whatsoever. Carefully, the stranger rose from the ground, having sand attached to any exposed skin as they turned around, planning to head back into the waters. Scar watched their movements - arms swinging at a perfect pace, as well as the movement of the hips. As if anything this secretive person did was as smooth as butter. Scar was about to catch sight of something familiar, leaning his head forward, taking notice of a small tacet mark resting on their nape. This person was a resonator?!
Unconsciously, Scar arose and chased after this person, grabbing onto their wrist, pulling them back until they slammed their back onto Scar. Forcing the confused person to turn their head around, carrying the look of curiosity that Scar found funny. Scar leaned in, having his infamous smirk. "Maybe it's best to teach you a few things. Don't you think, 'jello-fish'?"
Tumblr media
“This is who you were referring to by… ‘jello-fish’?” Scar’s sister, Phrolova, questioned. “Yes! Aren’t they adorable?” Scar asked. Here he currently was — lying down on the ground, on his front with his hands cupping his face and legs gently kicking back and forth. Silly Scar… What was he exactly doing? To put it in simple terms, training AND tutoring the clueless humanoid, who he figured was mainly centred around a jellyfish.
By listening to Scar’s demands such as to swim around in the waters — doing tricks such as jumping out of the waters, twirling in them as they swam around in a perfect pace. All movements made by me were fascinatingly smooth, and Scar didn’t seem to get bored of it. He wanted to flex off what he had been teaching the curious person to his sister.
“Speaking of which, I taught them another thing. Trust me, it’s really impressive.” Scar spoke out. Scar quickly adjusted his position — sitting on his bum, legs crossed as he snapped his fingers as loud as he could — managing to gain the attention of the person reminiscent to a jellyfish. They turned the direction of where they were swimming towards, elegantly making their way towards Scar and as soon as they were at a perfect spot, they leaped out of the waters and jumped onto Scar, who caught them as he fell on his back from the pressure.
“Did you see that?! Tell me that was adorable! They’re able to do that, like a dolphin!” Scar excitedly spoke out, a gleeful laughter mixed in with his words. “…Despite being similar towards a jellyfish.” Phrolova mumbled. She observed on how Scar seemed to be enjoying the person’s actions, where they were gently tracing the outline of Scar’s marks, while letting out a soft coo full of fascination.
Scar’s hands made it onto their hips, causing the person to softly hum out of confusion, which Scar giggled from — as if he was a boy who just got a sweet treat from the store. “Come on, jello-fish. Right here.” said Scar, pointing towards his cheek. Phrolova noticed how clueless the humanoid looked, about to speak up, but was shocked when they actually learned in and brushed their lips against Scar’s check — giving him a kiss.
“Ohoho~! Good, good! I’m so proud of you, jello-fish. Now then, another one here.” Scar praised, now pointing towards the tip of his nose. Once again, they leaned in and pressed a soft kiss onto Scar’s nose. What made this more hilarious for Scar was that this person had no clue what they were doing! “Now… over here.” Scar spoke out, his tone proving how smug he was. Where was he pointing? Towards his lips.
“Scar. Quit that.” Phrolova demanded, though Scar didn’t seem to listen. “Aw, come on! Don’t you want to see what they do—?” before Scar could even finish… they brought their lips against Scar’s lips, shocking Scar, only because he was caught off-guard. Phrolova let out a soft groan, turning around to give the two privacy as the person and Scar’s lips remained pressed onto one another.
“It’s unfortunate they’re unaware of what they’re doing, assuming it’s harmless…” Phrolova mumbled. They separated after a bit, thanks to Scar who wanted to keep the kiss longer. Within a second, he started squealing as if he was a little girl and tackling the individual into a tight embrace. “GOODNESS! You’re so cute. I may as well make you into a jello-fish to eat up!” Scar excitedly exclaimed.
Shockingly, they shot their eyes wide open, moving their head to stare into Scar’s eyes. That’s when Scar realized… “You can understand me for that, but not all of the other stuff I said?!” Scar shouted, not believing it. Scar’s loud voice accidentally terrified me, causing me to rise from what I was and rush back towards the waters, diving in. “Come back!” Scar whined. “Not only you scared them by saying you’ll eat them, but by yelling, too. I’m not surprised…” Phrolova said. “You’re not helping.” Scar argued.
Tumblr media
author note: sorry if this isn’t what you necessarily wanted! if it is, i’m glad and i worked on this for a little while so i hope it does do well, truly.

Potent rumors often plant seeds of disbelief.
It often came as a small white lie, an utterance between two consenting parties. When it reaches the leeching tongue of the birds, they fall to the ground, sprouting things that are weeds to the truth. If left alone, they would deter nature's course.
For example, the rumors somewhat turned into some prophecy— “the world is ending soon”.
How does it end? They say it's a global snowstorm. Maybe another global flood. A supernova collision. No, they definitely said it was an onslaught of active volcanoes erupting to create a flood of lava. Or maybe, some Sentinel wished for immense havoc, with its god-like power awakening to slaughter everything in its path.
However, for scientists like Xiangli Yao, all those claims seem comical.
“The world is ending soon?” A fellow scientist slaps his own knee, “That's complete bull!”
In the middle of the long table of the Academy, what was once a flickering 3D map of Jinzhou was temporarily dimmed; instead, a couple of scientists had gathered, playing cards for their breaktime.
“I know, right? It's too funny; they really think the world is ending so soon.”
One of them throws the card, a chorus of laughter.
“My findings say otherwise,” said a cocky researcher, “The fluctuations isn't very severe. We can live to see another millennia here in our world!”
“The plants and people are still alive and well.” The glimmer of a card catches everyone else's attention, “Very far from the truth indeed.”
One scientist lets out an indignant huff, “But how did they even reach that conclusion? Do they have the data?”
The group pauses for a bit. Some bit their lip, another shuffled their cards, and the other couldn't help but sigh. “Um, proof or not, I think they are still sprouting nonsense.” Muttered the first scientist.
Another eerie silence envelops them. Until one of them throws a card at the center. “The tacet marks have been spreading nonstop...”
They throw another. “TD's are also unstable, giving a major interference to the once-natural resonance cords.”
And when he throws the last trump card, almost all of the players had a grim look on their face. “We are merely just a few months recovering from the Retroact Rain. Our soldiers cannot handle another catastrophe!!”
With a trembling shout from the scientist, everyone else near the group stopped on their tracks. Noticing that the attention was on him, the poor scientist slides back to his chair, embarrassed. Even the ones he was playing with had a gloomy face.
“...Not to diminish our pride but...who knows...what happens to Jinzhou...not to mention our Sentinel and Magistrate...”
“That's understandable. The evidences speak for themselves.”
All eyes are on the man who spoke after a long while. Between the dim lights of the Academy's hall and his slow steps, his versicolored eyes glimmers brightly than ever.
“I understand your concerns, Ray,” Xiangli Yao reaches out to pat the forlorn scientist by his shoulder, “We are merely at the recovery stage for Jinzhou, yet our nation has been going through too many things already.”
Amethyst eyes wander among the resonance cords on the screen. They catch a familiar face of a person, one that made his own heart skip a beat.
“However, Jinzhou still stands until today. We cannot say the exact date for the end of the world—it could be today, tomorrow, or another millennium—but as long as we are still here to see the flowers blooming or the children laughing, then why should we stop today?”
A roar of cheers erupts throughout the hall. The lamenting scientist sniffles in joy. Yet the Principal Investigator couldn't look away from the certain figure of a girl.
“But if the world were to end soon,” muttered a nearby scientist, causing Xiangli Yao to glance at him, “Hmm...I wonder where I'll go.”
Without a clear future in mind, and you, the Rover, who only woke up just now—the thought is scary. If, indeed, the world was ending soon, then what happens next? What happens to you?
Tumblr media
The cats have been meowing nonstop.
As if sensing the air, they were pawing at your ankles, as if trying to catch your attention. One, two, three- maybe even five- cats trying to catch your attention.
Picking the white one, who was the one visibly stressed, you coo her as you scratched the back of her ear.
“What's wrong, hm?” You playfully kissed the cat's cheek, “Was the food not enough for you? If I overfeed you, Mr. Investigator will have to put you on another diet.”
Somehow understanding you, the cat gently pushes you off of their face with their paws, meowing.
“Hey, I'm telling the truth! As much as it hurts my poor heart, I can't feed you again today...”
“...I suppose you can allow them,” pipped a familiar voice, “They do look awfully thin.”
Nearly spilling the cat off of your arms, you squeak as you turn to meet a smiling Xiangli Yao. “M-Mr. Investigator?!”
“It's the first time you've addressed me by my title, Ms. Rover,” He teases, opting to carry the black cat on your feet, “I suppose our relationship is back to being professional?”
“The cats seem to know you more like that,” you emphasized, “Mr. Principal Investigator.”
He laughs—a tender laugh, it makes your heart squeeze—that it makes you pout. “I suppose that is right. Consider it a working place, then.”
Xiangli Yao stands next to you, holding out the black cat as it meows. With a funny thought, you ask, “Did you even know why they approached you in the first place?”
“Is it because I feed them?”
“No,” You playfully stuck out your tongue at him, “They say it's because it's to ward off bad spirits.”
Xiangli Yao goes silent, before looking at the cat, then back to you. “Hmm. I suppose I should stay away from you?”
Ultimately backfired. The joke goes back to you. With a dramatic gasp, you shrug. “Seeing as the cats was the one who approached me today, I think it's you who should go away for now.”
Freely laughing onto the summer air, the cats' meows intertwine with the yours. It's like any other workday— Xiangli Yao leaves mid-afternoon from work to meet and feed the cats, walking elsewhere until he's comfortable enough to go and finish his work.
It's only been a few weeks since a new addition to his itinerary: you. Now, every afternoon, the cats would find themselves carried by the warm sunlight; and you, taking care of them before him, drenched in sunset glow.
Like now, Xiangli Yao notes. But the thoughts were far too tempting. He takes a dive in them.
“So, Mr. Investigator,” you asked as you found yourselves by the stalls, nudging him softly, “where to next?”
The cats slowly left as soon as your walks stretched farther than usual. You were too nice to disturb Xiangli Yao, when he was far too absorbed in his thoughts.
“...Ah,” He purses his lips, slowly stopping in his steps, “I'm sorry, Rover. I hadn't realized we've gone this far.”
The streets decorated with the loud and bursting stalls sound in the background. Yet in the midst of it all, Xiangli Yao is silent as ever, his robotic hand over his lips, eyebrows furrowed. You think it's cute, from the curve of his pout, but you quickly shake it off.
“No worries at all. But you look like you have a lot on your mind, maybe you want to share them?”
Xiangli Yao looks at you. Behind you, the sun in Jinzhou has never set—bathing you in its reverberating halo, casting an ethereal glow. With his heart skipping a beat, he looks away with a sigh.
“...[Y/N],” every syllable of your name sounds too foreign for him, yet too holy, “Would you...like to come and stay with me for now?”
“Of course,” You smile, “Where do you want to go, Xiangli?”
His face remains serious as he speaks. “My house.”
“...I'm sorry?”
Tumblr media
Going to Xiangli Yao's house was something you've never expected.
Sure, you often get invitations to visit your friends' houses once in a while. But it seems different when someone like Xiangli Yao asks you to go home with me.
Wait. With a mental slap, you scold yourself. Why do you feel different when it's with Xiangli Yao? Was there something about him? Watching unfocused amethyst eyes seems to make you worry. You were definitely not feeling something, right?
Unless?
“Is there anything else you'd like?” Xiangli Yao pops up from his kitchen, carrying a plate full of snacks in one arm and drinks in another, “I'm sorry, these are some of the food I could make.”
“It's okay, I'm more than happy to already taste what you make!” You said as you rush to help him.
But as you are about to take the plates, you couldn't help but gasp.
“Oh, does my hand scare you?”
Instead of the usual robotic hand you've grown accustomed to, it had morphed into a larger metal plate, to fit the two plates.
“No!” You shake your head with a laugh, “It's just the first time I've seen it like this. Does it change back?”
By the time the plates are on the table, Xiangli Yao twists his robotic hand (plate?), popping it out of the socket. “It does. Let me get it.”
“Do you...” Watching him scurry, you pick up a chip from the plate, “...need a hand?”
A resounding clang! echoes back to you. It takes a while before he returns to the room, rolling his hand as he grins. “I believe it's back in its proper place.”
Still the same stupid jokes that make you cackle. Eventually, you both settle down. The afternoon telenovela plays on the TV. Finally settled to sit on the ground instead of the chair, you end up picking the savory chips, munching as you devotedly watch the scenes in front of you. You don't even bat an eye even as you feel Xiangli Yao sits next to you. Silence. But a good kind.
How long have you known Xiangli Yao again? Whatever you both do, you're still content with each other's company. From the corner of your eye, you notice his gaze firmly on the TV, empty hands hair's breadth away.
“The Moonlit Fair,” you said slowly after a comfortable silence, “now that it's over, are you back to your usual work?”
He hums. “Depends how you define "usual work".”
“Metalwork and other groundbreaking discoveries.”
You bring your knees close to your face, resting your head so you could comfortably turn to see Xiangli Yao's face. Chromatic colors paint the neutral look on his face. Yet when he turns, a pretty smile replaces it.
“The field of science is only a curiosity away,” he pipes, mimicking your pose, “That's always something I've been doing, even before the start of the Moonlit Fair.”
This goody-two-shoes prodigy has always been the talk of the town. Even in Huaxu Academy, even from Mortefi's mouth, he is long lauded as someone who easily creates breakthroughs.
“I'm jealous.” You admit, sighing, “You can easily create new things.”
“That's not true.”
“Ah, I guess I can say with pride that I often help people, too.”
“However you may say it, it doesn't erase the fact that you are doing so much more than you think.” He said, “You're the mysterious Rover. You have lost memories related to this city. And from what I've heard, you hold so much history.”
He reaches out, human hand hesitating to touch your face. With a fleeting downcast gaze, he ends up booping your cheek. It makes you flinch from surprise.
“...I should be the one jealous of you, if that's the case, [Y/N].” His smile causes his eyes to close, a genuine look on his face, “You've done many incredible things that are worthy rather than simple praises.”
Did Xiangli Yao ever look this pretty before? Soft skin and amethyst irises through fluttering lashes. You wish you could brush away the hair that covers his eyes. Carefree, kissable lips. Wait—you cough, looking awau to hide the blush tinting your cheeks.
“Please, stop flattering me. I might end up bursting a hole in your roof.”
“I'll be sure to let Xiang-LEE and Patty fix that.”
A ticklish giggle escapes your lips as you turn back to see him. “Please leave my kids alone, you have overworked them during the festival.”
“...Please don't worry,” he shrugs, chuckling, “They'll be granted a paid vacation anyways.”
Seeing as the telenovela has lost its charm, and the poor food in front of you could go to waste, and maybe not wanting to end the fun yet, you decide to test your waters.
“Xiangli,” you said, noticing how he perked his head at the mention of his name, “I want to play a game.”
“An electronic one again?”
“No,” you shake your head, “Truth or Dare.”
Xiangli Yao laughs. “Oh, I didn't know you were into childish games like that.”
“I'm curious about you, and I'm sure you feel the same way.” You point out, “What's a better way than to play a game?”
“You could have asked and I wouldn't mind answering, you know.”
“Yeah, yeah,” you sit up straight, grinning, “Truth or Dare?”
Xiangli Yao mirrors you. “Already?”
“Pick already, or I might change my mind.”
“Hmm...Dare.”
Suppose your afternoon would be so different. A few chugs of the drinks, greedy hoarding of chips, spent markers, and random doodles later, you find yourself dressed in one of his lab coats with a clip of some of his IDs, and him in the flashiest shirt. The laughter has long strained your lips but it still ends up being the sweetest you've ever tasted. Apart from that, the glow in Xiangli Yao's face is also different, one that makes your heart skip faster.
“You've what?”
Xiangli Yao laughs a little too loudly. “A mini mouse that would greet anyone who opens the door. Mortefi was the first victim, because I didn't know he was deathly afraid of mice.”
The mental image of Mortefi from Xiangli Yao's prank comes abruptly that it causes you to match the latter's laughter—hollering until your back finds the sofa, slapping the carpet.
“Oh my God,” you wheeze, “It's not even a surprise why he hates you even more!”
Xiangli Yao wipes a tear from his eye, sparkly eyeshadow slightly staining his cheeks, “I bought him some coffee to apologize, but the joke hadn't died down for weeks.”
He finds himself sitting closely with you now, head against the sofa. With a little of your mingling laughter in the air, he couldn't help but watch as your fits of laughter continued, albeit a little softer. Through your literal rose-colored lenses, did you see the world like that, too?
“It's my turn now, right?” You ask, your shoulders an aftershock from your laughter.
“Mm,” he nods, “Have you run out already?”
“No, never!”
“Alright, since I've been picking dares for a while. I'll go with truth.”
“Have you ever heard of the rumors?” You begin, laughter dying down, as you take a bite from the chip. “That the world is "ending soon"?”
Xiangli Yao freezes. So you've heard. It's no surprise as it already made a turmoil between the scientists in Huaxu Academy. Yet the dread somehow comes creeping back to him.
“If, theoretically, the world were to end today,” you slowly speak, carefully choosing the words, “In a few hours or so. What would you do?”
What would he do? A tricky question. But a calid one at that. “The end of the world wouldn't happen so abruptly.”
“Mm, yeah, but I am curious about your answer.”
What would Xiangli Yao do? And somehow, the dimming living room feels so small, the only light source was a forgotten TV color palette. When he looks at you, your doe eyes sparkle in the darkness. The closeness of your bodies, the fleeting smell of spring on your shoulder, with a hint of him.
“Well...” He slides down to the floor, patting the space beside him, “I'll let you know if you lay here with me.”
“Are you sure there are no pranks here?”
“I'm honest.”
You eventually follow his words, so you could meet the level of his eyes. Watching the glow of his inspiration-filled eyes, they somehow make you smile.
“I heard all about it when my colleagues were playing a game during break time.” Xiangli Yao begins, “Some claim it's not true, but there have been others who believe it's so soon.”
“What do you think?”
He looks away, opting to stare at the ceiling above. You follow his sight, unaware of what was next.
“I don't know.” He says truthfully, robotic hand pointing upward, “With everything that has happened, no one else can predict it.”
“Even a knowledgeable scientist like you?”
He glances at you. “Even a knowledgeable scientist like me.”
He looks back to where his hand points. Casting a power, a small purple cube dances in his robotic hand, knowing that you were watching so intently.
“But if the world were to end today, then I wouldn't mind spending the day with the cats I feed.”
The cube glows brightly, floating so freely in his hand. A flash of scenes play through its squares, too fast to see, yet too slow to be noticed.
“I wouldn't mind having the TV on, sitting on the floor with snacks all over, even though there's a perfectly good sofa.”
He hears your small laugh, which makes him smile. The cube falls to his chest, where it travels all the way to you.
“I wouldn't mind spending the last hours playing Truth or Dare, with someone who's extraordinary.”
This time, Xiangli Yao looks at you. Wide-eyed and speechless, from the way the cube touches your outstretched hand, watching the faint glow of the halo on your own body. If the world were to end, he wouldn't get tired of watching this view; watching the rise and fall of your chest as you stare in awe, calloused hands tenderly watching over his own work of art, knowing that there'll never be another you if the world were to end.
Knowing that he's long been blessed to exist in the world where you are in it.
“I think I wouldn't mind spending the last hours on Solaris-3 with you, [Y/N].”
The cube pops, a sprinkle of glitter all over your body. Glancing, your heart throbs loudly in your chest, as you heard his confession.
How did this happen again? You were merely friends with the scientist. After the successful Moonlit Fair, you often find yourself bumping into him, simple errands and impromptu hang outs when you do. Watching Xiangli Yao in his humble abode, the telenovela a white noise, and the shade of colors lighting his face—have you ever seen him more than a friend?
“Xiangli Yao,” you breathe, which made him freeze, “you...”
He smiles. “I'm not rushing to know your answer. I am merely stating the facts.”
A good friend. But now you figured out why that rubs you off the wrong way. You have always known the answer to your feelings.
“[Y/N],” Even the way Xiangli Yao speaks your name, a softer one, where in the world they called you "Rover", he calls you differently.
“[Y/N],” Reaching out, his human hand finds a strand of your hair, gently pulling it to his lips. “[Y/N],”
Xiangli Yao calls your name, one that makes you throb.
“If, theoretically,” he repeats the question you asked before, “the world does end today, what will you do?”
In a world where your memories are lost in the ripples of time and reverberation. You had the same answer.
“...I wouldn't mind spending it with a certain scientist.” You smile, watching him mirror yours, “I wouldn't mind spending it with you, Xiangli Yao.”
“[Y/N]...”
“Xiangli,” you reach out to cup his cheek, to which he closes his eyes to snuggle to the warmth, “Xiangli, you're like the cats.”
“Then will you ever mind if I could hold on to you?”
Weary arms find themselves asking for yours. And like you, touch-starved for his own touch, lean onto him, the smell of spring and that you could forget the world.

Savant 2 Fantasy Trophies
Tumblr media
(This is a continuation of a previous post called Savant. Because what's better than one secret bimbo genius? Two of them...duh!)
I tried to be happy playing fantasy with my secret silly weapon. But somehow it didn't feel right. Maybe it was my competitive side. Maybe I felt I didn't deserve a bimbo savant like Kiki. Or maybe it was some secret curiosity about exactly how she thought about things. So I asked her to help me understand what goes on inside that bimbo brain of hers.
"Like...you sure you wanna learn from a ditzy doll like me?" she asked incredulously. Eyes wide. Shining with excitement. I nodded and she squealed and hugged me. "OMG yaaaaaay! I soooo wanted a fantasy friend. A bimbo bestie who just, like, gets me...ya know?"
So soon I was being coached by an absolute cutie. Trained to look, act, and talk like her. Because as Kiki says, "Like, to be good at fantasy you gotta BE a fantasy. Duh!" It didn't really make sense. But I'll admit that when we went to a Super Bowl party dressed up in identical outfits, I felt a connection. Even if I just had a breastplate and wig on...I couldn't help but smiling just a brightly as my bestie.
Tumblr media
The training continued all summer. Kiki said I needed, like, a state of empty serenity. To clear my head of all my old thoughts. To just focus on picking out a cute outfit, like footballers select their cleats. Memorize how to get my makeup juuuuuust right, like a player putting on eyeblack. How to strut and sparkle and shine, just like a superstar fantasy stud. Or in my case...a superstar fantasy bimbo babe nicknamed Nally!
By the end of summer, things started to fit into place. Not just the thinkys. But, like, my body and stuff. Kiki was sooooo nice and saved some winnings from last year so I could get some lip filler, cute hair extensions, and real boobies!!! OMG we were, like, breasties now!
When draft time came and we showed up in these adorable 'lil outfits, it sooooo made sense. My costume was, like, my strategy! There was a cowboy hat cuz the Cowboys players were soooo sexy this year. Big high heels that were, like, hard to run in cuz running boys are less important to me. Oh and everything is red since, like, we watched that super good red team win the Superb Owl last year and they'll totes be hawt again!
I couldn't explain it. It was, like insti...instink...er, just felt right, ya know? Kiki was soooo supportive and even, like, finished my thoughts for me if I got too giggly or blank for too long. She's not just a great teacher...she's, like, a total awesum teammate to me. Oh and she even, like, started joking about 'Nally's Fantasy Lyfe' which turned into the cuuuutest team name for the year. NFL! Isn't Kiki is soooo clever?
Tumblr media
By the end of the year, like, I was sooooo happy! Kiki and Nally, like, both won all our leagues. I was sooooo proud that I was a strong, independent bimbo who just needed another bimbo to show me what to do. I'm like a sav...savvy...er, secret smartie skirt just like Kiki now! Or at least a trophy doll just like my breastie.
Oh ya! Like, speaking of breasties, I'm suuuuuper proud of my boobies too! Kiki suggested I do 'TDs for titties' so like every time a player of mine scored, like, I'd add a CC of silly-cone too my chest. As you can see, like, I did GREAT this year. So great that Kiki and I both got all dolled up to celebrate!
We were also dressed all pretty and stuff cuz we went to a special Superb Owl party. Not to watch the game, of course. I can barely focus on anything but the short commercials anyways. But since, like, it was kinda boring to win soooo much, Kiki wanted to introduce us to another fantasy group. One filled with other fantasy bimbo smarties just like us!
The competition next year will be fierce but the prizes will be enorm...humung...er, like, as big as the fake titties the winner gets! Losing also isn't so bad. Like, you get to be 'lil lesbian pet of the winner alllll summer. A lit-er-all fantasy trophy IRL. Honestly, like, Nally is trying to find a way to trade all her best players to her breastie so they can be top and bottom. Like, being a bimbo doll is the least Nally can do to thank Kiki for, like, showing her how to be a fantasy savant too!

@caemthe said (inbox):
[ jiyan, for cal ] It's during a tranquil night while patrolling with the mercenary leader that the general- no, that Jiyan voices something that has been troubling him. "Being with you and thinking of you are as easy as breathing. It feels natural, to the point I don't remember how it used to be before that. But finding a reason for why that is feels like trying to put together a thousand pieces puzzle. I didn't know my mind could be so complicated." That last sentence is said with a hint of amusement, the sides of his mouth curving into a smile. Surely, Calcharo will be amused by how perplexing and senseless his revelation is, too. He... doesn't even know why he's sharing something so personal in the first place. It makes no sense, he makes no sense. He knows this, and yet... "And yet, as perplexing as it is, it doesn't displease me. Quite the opposite, in fact. I look forward to seeing and spending time with you more each time and, before I realize it, you're present in my thoughts more as well. I'm not keen on distractions, but it's different when it comes to you. Why? I have no idea." A short-lived laugh passes his lips then. Really, what prompted him to talk of things he hasn't figured out on his own yet? Is he looking for help, an answer, anything? He can't say for sure either. "Laugh if you wish, I'm aware that I'm not making any sense right now."
Tumblr media
VERY RARELY DID CALCHARO patrol with another person. Most of the time, he often did this alone as he felt he needed no assistance with such an endeavor. For years he had monitored Huanglong like a distant shadow, Jinzou most especially, when the TD outbreaks were at their worst. His Hounds had long since ceased asking if he wanted company, all of them knowing full well that he would be quick to turn them down and continue on his way. How surprising it was, then, that he was out here with Jiyan of all people, when hardly anyone could so much as convince him otherwise. Perhaps he reached this decision merely because he knew of how stubborn the General was, and that refusing him would be met with deaf ears. That, or maybe it was just that no resources would be wasted because Jiyan was outside of his command. He could only assume these were the case…even if being confused about your own thoughts and questioning it seemed…peculiar in itself.
It was a quiet night, the stars gleaming as brightly as they often did, the air pleasant and cool as a reminder of falls approach. Everything had been quiet as it normally was…up until Jiyan broke that silence with his words. Frowning slightly, he turned his head a little to look at the other from the corner of his eye, confused about the words that passed his lips. What was said mirrored how he felt as well, which in itself, perplexed him all the more with each uttered word. He enjoyed being with Jiyan -- this he could not tell himself otherwise. He wasn’t sure when the other managed become a normalcy within his mind the way they did as of late, though it seemed he wasn’t the only one who was attempting to decipher the ‘why’ of it. Sometimes he found himself glancing off into the distance, wondering how he was doing back at Norfall Barrens, pondering if that stubborn general was pushing himself to do a thousand things in a single day. He shouldn’t care – he didn’t, he liked to tell himself. What Jiyan did, did not affect his work in any way, shape, or form. At the end of the day, he and his Ghost Hounds would still be paid, contracts still fulfilled.
Ah…but considering Jiyan was the one who hired them in the first place, if something did happen to him, that meant that their contract would be null and void. He'd lose an excellent business opportunity and would have very little reason to remain unless someone else opted to hire him and his people’s services. There was a logical explanation for all this, he liked to tell himself on a regular basis, Calcharo constantly putting reasons to things that still left him feeling uncertain at the end of the day (because he needed explanations -- he needed it all to make sense when it felt senseless). Glancing away, he felt that unfamiliar feeling well up in him again: embarrassment. How could anyone just rattle off words like this? Even he, as blunt as he was, would have kept all this to himself as long as it did not interfere with his work. Quiet still, he mulled over what was said, pondered his own feelings, but found at the heart of it, they held a similarity. ❝You give absolutely no lead up into whatever is floating about in that mind of yours, do you?❞
     None whatsoever.
How was one even supposed to prepare for what passed those lips when there was no warning in the slightest? Letting out a small huff of either exasperation, or amusement, it was hard to tell as he turned his gaze back to Jiyan. ❝You are the strangest client I have ever had, and I have gone through many. Although…I can say that you are the first I have found myself thinking about every now and then as well. Like yourself, I dislike distractions and prefer to focus on my work. Everything else outside of that can be cast aside until the later hours of the night.❞ And though he did do that when it came to this man – alarmingly so, at the same time, he found his thoughts wandering during the day as well at the most random of times. ❝But…I do find your presence enjoyable in a way that I’m not used to with other people outside my Ghost Hounds. Talking to you like this, face to face rather than through a terminal or letter, has become a routine that I have long since factored into my schedule.❞ One that he, oddly enough, looked forward to. He paused, glancing away. ❝Do know this information does not factor into a discount.❞

WILDCARD WEEKEND PICKS because why is there a playoff game on Monday?
Let’s get right to it
49ers 31-24 over Seahawks [I expect a battle and I really think this is gonna be a close game. You think Seattle is gonna lay down to my Niners? No, not Pete Carroll. The Seahawks have overachieved and will also get a high draft pick in addition to their playoff appearance. Maybe they’ll get one of the highly touted QBs like Levis or Richardson? Anyway, 49ers will win in the last couple minutes]
Giants 29-28 over Vikings [I wouldn’t be all that surprised if the Giants took some chances to win and go on a surprising run. Daniel Jones takes his first shot at the playoffs against the very shaky Vikings who might be this year’s fools’ gold team. By taking chances I mean, 2 pt conversion early on? Giants win]
Cowboys 35-17 over Buccaneers [The Cowboys looked pathetic against the REDSKINS. They will wake the hell up in this critical Monday night game and take it to Tom Brady and the Bucs. There’s no reason to have ANY faith in Tampa in this game considering how bad they’ve looked as they’re lucky they play in such a bad division. (plus they’ve scored the fewest pts in the division, AND they’ve got the worst pt differential in their division at around -40. Cowboys should win easily]
NFC DIVISIONAL WOULD LOOK LIKE THIS Giants v.s. Eagles, Cowboys v.s. 49ers
Bills 45-17 over Dolphins [Remember when Miami beat the Bills in Week 3? Feels like forever ago. 4 teams in this playoffs have a negative pt differential and Miami is one of them along with the Vikings, Buccaneers and Giants. Can the Dolphins get right in time? No. Bills end the Dolphins’ hopes early]
Bengals 37-10 over Ravens [If the Ravens get Jackson back, this is much closer. But let’s be realistic, the Ravens backed into the playoffs maybe. Even if this was in Baltimore, Bengals would still win with ease. They’re just simply better. Expect a 4 TD maybe 0 INT game for Burrow]
Jaguars 45-42 over Chargers (2 OT) [You heard it here, calling for a double OT game with Jacksonville winning. The fighting Doug Pedersons and Trevor Lawrences will take this one in an epic struggle. Justin Herbert flashes brightly but it will be a tough game against a hungry Jaguars squad]
AFC DIVISIONAL WOULD LOOK LIKE THIS Jaguars v.s. Chiefs, Bengals v.s. Bills

Hear me out! Yandere Mal from TD with prompt 13 AND! Darling is a ball of sunshine just rlly happy and carefree and they are just so oblivious to Mal's yandere tendencies. Thanks! And keep me anon :)
13♡"Oh, don’t worry this isn’t my blood. It’s the blood of the person who touched you earlier today."
Note:MAL,,,MY BELOVED (Mal is a bit OOC in this <\3)
Tumblr media
Mal is possessive and not entirely obsessive. He strives more on having you to himself than leeching onto you and following you everywhere.
Mal takes what he wants,he sees you and he immediately works up a plan to take you away from everyone else.
He finds it endearing whenever you smile at him brightly after he had beaten someone up for staring at you for far too long. Not like you knew anyways,,,,but still. Mal finds it adorable that you have no idea what's happening.
Mal does this thing where he'll stand behind you menacingly while you're speaking to someone else. When you notice the person nervously averting eye contact and having their eyes darting from you and to something behind you,you would confusingly tilt your head slightly to the side and before you could turn your head around,Mal would gently wrap his arms around your waist and place his head on your shoulder, smiling softly at you.
"Hello Y/n." Mal smiles at you before his eyes lands on the person you were speaking to and shooting them a slight glare. "Mik- wait,Mal! Hello!" You cheerfully glee at him, making no plans to move his hands from your waist.
"Oh please continue!" You assured the person to continue their story, contentedly beaming at them, oblivious to the eyes glaring daggers at them from behind you. "Yeah. Go on." Mal spoke, venom laced in the last few words, forcing a smile onto his lips.
"U-uhm..i-ill just go now! See you..uhm..later!" The person stutters, dashing away from you. "Hmm..I wonder what got them so spooked..!" You hummed in thought.
Mal thinks you're the purest being on the world!
Given his possessiveness towards you, this will really mess with Mike and the other alters :(
Honestly I can see Mal being more in control when Mike is around you since Mal doesn't want anyone else to be with you except for him.
If Vito or Manitoba were to come out suddenly when Mal is with you,,,,, ohhh boy- Mal would actually come back into control really quickly but he would throw a temper tantrum for awhile. He wouldn't hurt you though!! Don't worry <3 But he would be pretty terrifying;Spouting profanities and threats to murder the other alters. Even if it may be impossible ...
Not related but I can see Mal mocking the people who speaks to you.
"Oh! I'm [name] and I think I deserve a chance to speak to Y/n! Even though I'm a freak!"
"Look at me! I'm [Name] and I'm a total loser!"
He'll frequently do that to piss off the people who speaks to you-
Knowing how oblivious and gullible you are,he could outright threaten someone and still get a giggle from you telling him to "stop joking around Mal! You're scaring them!" And Mal would have the biggest smile on his face as he relents and smirks at the person,"Oh oh,of course,Y/n! I forgot they can be such scaredy cats!"
He uses this to his advantage as well,,,
Since we know that Mal is a very dangerous yandere. We also know that Mal wouldn't hesitate to murder someone or just bring them to the brink of death.
He will usually just punch them repeatedly or stab them in the limbs. He knows you'll be devasted if someone you knew were to die,so he would hold himself back on killing them.
If someone were to warn you about Mal and his tendencies, they probably wouldn't even be able to get a word out before Mal is by your side or maybe..Mal might even have thrown something at them to knock them out-
Given how violent Mal is,it wouldn't be a surprise that he has a bad temper as well. He acts like a little child when he sees someone holding/touching you during a challenge or as a friendly handshake/hug. He would whine when he finally gets a hold of you.
Mal:"Why did they get to hold you! That's..thats not fair!"
Y/n:"Well...you're holding onto me right now! Doesn't that make up for it?"
Mal,literally clinging onto you with his hands around your waist and his face buried in your shoulder: "...no it doesn't!"
He would also threatened the people who touched you- "I'll cut their fingers off for even daring to lay their filthy hands on you." Mal spoke, seething through his clench teeth as he grabs your hand and starts dusting your palms. All the while,he is muttering all the different ways he would decapitate them and they will only be sitting like a few feet away from the both of you.
And while he is coming out with the most gruesome way to murder them, you would just smile at him giddily, almost as if he wasn't plotting murder and was just talking about a picnic planning,,,
Speaking of which, sometimes his threats...aren't really just threats. Mal would take it further and actually stay true to his words.
So he would definitely wait till that particular person is alone and he would strike. Punching them, stabbing them, using any sharp objects to inflict some type of pain to them. Anyways, whatever he does,Mal would DEFINITELY leave the area with a satisfied smirk and blood splatters on him.
And when he finds you,you would have a concerned look at your face. Did he run into a bear on the way and got hurt? Or was it one of the traps that Chris had set up..?
You would rush to him and worriedly ask whether he was fine.
All your attention of him would make Mal feel all light headed <3 He would melt instantly and just smile at you adorningly. You were so clueless its so adorable!
Although he loves your concerns,he would still hush you, calming you down and assuring you that he wasn't hurt.
"Oh, don’t worry this isn’t my blood. It’s the blood of the person who touched you earlier today."
While the rest of the campers are terrified of the image before them;Mal covered in blood and saying that. You would have a confused look on your face before you stifle a laugh. "As if! I'm not gonna fall for that! I'm not that dumb,Mal."
Mal just smiles at you with the softest smile <3 Oh you were so oblivious and he's so in love.

One Thousand Followers Celebration
okay I’m honestly kind of shook that we’re even here but thank you to everyone who’s a part of our little corner of the fandom. I love you all so so much and I’m so happy to be here ❤️ most people requested something cute and fluffy so here’s Cassian being drunk and and Nesta comes to get him. I hope you all enjoy!! 💘💘💘
feel free to read it on AO3 here too!
word count: 2975
—————
Nesta was halfway through her latest read when her phone started buzzing incessantly. It was just getting to the good part, where the main couple started to realize maybe there was something more between them than burning hatred, and she didn’t want to put it down. Frankly, it reminded her of her own love story, but she’d never admit that to anyone out loud.
She was forced to look away when her phone was vibrating so constantly with texts she thought someone was calling her. Sighing, she reached for her phone, unlocking it only to see her husband had sent her almost twenty messages.
Cassian, 11:52 PM
Nesta
Nes
I love yiu sooooo muche
Youe so pretty
I weish u were here
everyons laufghint at me but i miss u
wyd
nesssssssssss
are u ignoringme for a book agwain
:(
Swethearft<3
did i tell u i luv u td
wait its ok I ddid
i want a kiss when i see u ok
The remaining messages were a jumble of Spanish and English words mixed together, and while she had a working knowledge of Spanish, she didn’t know it well enough to even attempt to decipher what he was trying to tell her. Still, she couldn’t help but smile as she read through them all, affection blooming in her chest for her favorite person in the world.
Cassian, Rhys, and Azriel had gone out to their favorite bar for guys night, and Cassian was clearly drunk off his ass. It was really hard to keep a straight face with him normally, but when he was drunk, she thought it was one of the most adorable things she’d ever seen.
Nesta, 12:01 AM
I love you too, you big goofball
I’ll give you a kiss and a hug when I see you how’s that
Her phone was ringing within seconds, a picture of Cassian filling her screen before she answered.
“Hello?” she said, marking her page with a bookmark before closing it.
“Nesta!” Cassian exclaimed. She had to pull her phone from her ear for a moment, but she smiled again anyways.
“Hi, Cassian,” she replied, trying not to laugh. He was just so cute. “Are you having a good time?”
“Leave me alone, I’m talking to my wife,” he said, his voice sounding slightly further away. He must have been talking to Rhys or Azriel, but the way referred to her made her want to melt. They’d been together for years and married for just over one, but it still sent a thrill through her to hear him claim her out loud.
“Nes?” he said, his voice back to normal volume.
“I’m here,” she said, getting off the bed to begin looking for her shoes. He normally called her and started getting ridiculously affectionate when it was getting close for him to come home, so it was only a matter of time before he asked her to come get him.
“What are you doing?” he asked.
“Looking for my shoes,” she replied, spotting her boots on the floor. Leaning her phone against her ear, she bent down and put them on over her leggings before walking back to her dresser.
“Are you coming to find me?” he asked. She couldn’t help but smile at how excited he sounded by the prospect.
“Yes, baby.” Nesta hit speaker and put the phone down on their dresser as she took off the oversized shirt that she’d borrowed from him, slid a sports bra on, and put on a plain tee shirt over it.
“Oh thank God,” he said, and then dropped his voice to a loud whisper. “You’re much more fun than the dumbasses I’m with.”
She’d opened her mouth to reply, but then Cassian began talking to someone else nearby. “Tarquin! Fancy seeing you here! Are you still mad about your windows? Nes, I gotta go. Love you.”
It was a cool September evening, so Nesta grabbed a denim jacket before throwing her hair up into a bun and leaving their apartment. Once she got to her car, it was a short fifteen minutes to get to The Sidra. Thankfully there was ample street parking around the corner, and the bouncer let her in with a quick flash of her ID.
Nesta walked inside, spotting her husband and his friends immediately. They took up a ridiculous amount of space in one of the booths, and she couldn’t resist smiling as Cassian visibly brightened by her appearance.
“Nesta!” he shouted, grinning widely as she got closer. So much for subtlety, she supposed. She offered repeated apologies as she walked over to where he was sitting, but thankfully most of the people there seemed to think his behavior was too cute to be a serious nuisance.
Once she was next to the side of the booth he was sitting on, he pulled her in for a hug, wrapping his muscular arms around her waist and laying his head on her chest.
“Cassian,” she said at a normal volume, endlessly amused as he snuggled into her. She leaned down to press a kiss to the top of his head before turning to greet Rhys and Azriel, both of whom looked seconds away from breaking out laughing.
“Don’t you dare,” she told them, tightening her arms around Cassian as she gave his friends a look. They both hold their hands up in surrender, Azriel raising his beer at her before turning back to Rhys.
“I missed you,” Cassian said against her chest, his voice muffled. “So much.”
“Every minute without you was excruciating,” Nesta said, playing along. He looked up at her with a pout.
“Stop teasing me,” he told her. He was frowning slightly now. “I did miss you a lot, you know.”
“I’m sorry. You’re just so cute like this, it’s hard not to tease you a little bit.”
“Not as cute as you.” Cassian smiled up at her, pleased with himself. She couldn’t help but roll her eyes good-naturedly and let him tug her into his lap.
“Sorry to crash your guys’ night,” she said to Rhys and Azriel now that she was facing them.
“He’s not as much fun when he gets like this anyway,” Azriel replied, chuckling. “In his old age, he’s turned into a sappy drunk.”
“Hey! We’re the same age!” Cassian protested from behind her, tightening his grip around her waist. Azriel and Cassian had both turned thirty earlier this year, while Rhys’ birthday wasn’t until November. Nesta had turned twenty-eight back in April.
“Good thing I like sappy drunks,” she said, twisting around to face him. He gave his friends a smug look as she pressed a kiss to his warm cheek, his stubble scratching her face in a way she loved.
“You two are the worst,” Rhys groaned.
“Like you and my sister are any better,” Nesta shot back as she turned around. Feyre and Rhys had been together since their college days and had tied the knot once they’d both graduated.
“Speaking of her, I’d love to get back home to her,” he replied. He pulled out his phone and began texting, and Nesta guessed he was asking if she was still awake.
“I guess that’s it then, huh?” Azriel asked, raising an eyebrow at Nesta.
“I’m sure Gwyn is dying to see you too,” she teased, smiling softly at him. She and Emerie had colluded with Cassian and Rhys to set the pair up on a blind date last year, and everyone had been thrilled when they’d agreed to keep seeing each other.
“She has a performance tomorrow, so she’s probably already asleep,” Azriel answered, raising a hand to catch the closest server’s attention.
“I told you my wife was hot as fuck,” Cassian said suddenly, shifting to point wildly at Nesta as their server – a young woman named Nuala – came by to bring them the check.
“I’m thrilled,” she replied dryly, raising an eyebrow as she looked at Nesta. “He hasn’t shut up about you for the last half an hour, you know. Thank God he wasn’t making you up.”
“Thanks,” Nesta said, her lips twitching from trying to hold in her laughter. Rhys put down his card to pay for all of them, waving off Cassian and Azriel’s attempts to give him money for their share of the check. Within a few minutes, the four of them were getting out of their booth and beginning the walk to the exit.
Cassian immediately went for Nesta’s hand, intertwining their fingers before bringing their hands to his mouth so he could kiss the back of hers.
“That is so unhygienic,” she said, exasperated. “I haven’t washed my hands since I left our place.”
“It’s a risk I’m willing to take,” he said, grinning at her. He kissed the back of her hand one more time before lowering their hands to swing them between the two of them as they kept walking.
“Who’s that guy glaring at you?” Nesta asked, noticing a tall Black guy staring Cassian down from a booth near the door. He had silver curls that stood out brightly against his dark skin, but he couldn’t have been much older than any of them. It had to have been natural, since his eyebrows and lashes were the same color.
“Oh, that’s Tarquin,” he replied, waving at Tarquin with a sheepish grin from where they stood. Tarquin flipped him off before turning back to his companions, who both shared the same dark skin and silvery hair.
“Why is he glaring at you? Do I need to talk to him?” Nesta asked, frowning. She was the only one allowed to glare at her husband like that.
“No sweetheart, it’s fine,” Cassian replied, laughing as they walked by the table. “It’s our inside joke. He threw a party senior year of college and I might have gotten drunk and broken a few windows in his house.”
“You what? Cassian, that’s not an inside joke.”
“It’s fine, Nes. I paid him back for it, but his parents were pissed. I’m banned from his neighborhood, actually.”
“That is not fine.”
“I might be drunk, but I know when I’m right,” Cassian said, just before walking right into the door. Azriel had accidentally let it swing behind him and Cassian hadn’t grabbed it in time, and it got him right in the face.
Nesta burst out laughing before she clapped her free hand over her mouth. “Oh my God, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have laughed. Are you okay?”
“The love of my life just laughed at my pain,” he whined, yanking open the door. Azriel and Rhys were absolutely losing it on the other side, making it hard for Nesta to keep her composure in solidarity with Cassian.
“Let me see it,” she said once they were outside. Cassian had pressed his hand to the side of his face, but Nesta got him to move it with her free one. His cheek was red from the impact, but she was sure it’d be fine with some ice once they got back to their place.
“It’s not so bad,” she reassured him. It was hard to keep a straight face with his friends – mostly Rhys – still howling in the background, but she got on her toes to give him a kiss on his face.
“It still hurts,” he said, pouting at her. “Can I get another kiss?”
“You big baby,” she said, but she leaned in and kissed his cheek again. “That’s all you’re getting. When we get home, I’m putting ice on that.”
“I love it when you boss me around,” he said dreamily, letting her tug him past his friends. “It does things to me.”
“Please take him home,” Rhys called from behind them. Nesta flipped him off before Cassian could, earning another wide grin from him as they walked towards her car.
“Thanks for the best thing I’ve ever seen!” Azriel added, both of their laughter fading the farther Nesta and Cassian walked.
“They’re so mean,” Cassian grumbled as she dug into her pocket for the keys.
“You want me to yell at them? Hurt their feelings a little?” she offered, unlocking the doors.
“No,” he said, pouting again. He got into the passenger seat as Nesta walked around to the driver’s side, and he immediately reached for her hand once she sat down.
“I’d do it if you wanted me to,” she told him, shooting him an amused look before starting the car.
“Maybe a real kiss would make me feel better,” he suggested, leaning towards her and puckering his lips.
Nesta leaned in and brushed her lips against his, but he wasn’t having it. He cupped the back of her head as he deepened their kiss, warming her up inside from the cool September air.
“Come on, let’s go home,” Nesta said, pulling away even though it was the last thing she wanted to do. He huffed and pouted but thankfully put his seatbelt on.
It was a quick ride back to their building, and thankfully Cassian managed not to walk into any more doors on their way upstairs. He wrapped his arm around her as they got off the elevator, which Nesta thought was as much for balance as it was to hold her close.
“Thank you for coming to get me,” he said once they were back in their apartment. He immediately walked into the bedroom and flopped on their bed, somehow managing not to knock anything over or hit Nesta’s book.
“You’re welcome,” Nesta said back, taking the time to take off her jacket and shoes before walking to the freezer to grab a bag of frozen peas. She wrapped it in a paper towel before coming to lay next to him, taking down her bun so that her hair was down around her.
“Can I tell you a secret?” he whispered, turning to look at her. His eyes lit up when he noticed her hair was down, and he reached over to play with it. She handed him the peas instead, making sure he pressed them to the side of his face.
“I thought I knew all your secrets,” she whispered back, smiling softly as she indulged him. She loved that she was the one who got to see him like this, that she was the first person he saw in the mornings and the last person he saw when he closed his eyes at night.
“You do,” he confirmed, pulling the peas away to smile at her. She gave him a disapproving look and he quickly put them back before continuing. “I love nights like these.”
“Why’s that?” she asked. She reached out to brush some of his loose waves away from his face so they didn’t get in the way of the peas.
“I never thought I would be as happy as I am right now,” Cassian said seriously. His other eye was blocked from the position of the peas, so Nesta just held the gaze of the one she could see as he moved his hand to cup her face.
Sometimes he would say things like this that made her feel like her heart was going to burst from how sweet he was. “Really?”
“Yeah.” He shifted closer to her, and Nesta inhaled deeply at the lingering scent of his cologne. “I remember when you wouldn’t even say my name out loud. Now you’re here with me and my peas.”
She laughed before answering. “It was the peas that really sold me, you know. I should have written them into my vows.”
“And you’re telling jokes? Tonight must be my lucky night.”
“Shut up before I take the peas from you, Cassian.”
“You love me too much to do that, Nes.”
“Stop using my love for you against me. It’s unfair and you know it.”
“Never,” he said, running his thumb across her cheek. “I love you too much not to use every advantage I can get.”
“I taught you too well,” she said, smiling softly at him. “Come on, let’s get ready for bed.”
She turned to kiss his palm, as unhygienic as it was, and then got up and started changing into pajamas. He groaned as he rolled off the bed, stretching as he stood up to reveal a strip of golden-brown skin at his abdomen before walking towards their bathroom.
Nesta joined him to brush her teeth in another one of his oversized shirts and no pants. He finished first, squeezing her hip as he walked by her and went back into their bedroom. She quickly brushed through her hair and pulled it into a loose braid for sleep before turning off the light.
Cassian was waiting for her under the covers, laughing as he examined the back of her book. “Is there smut in this one?”
She rolled her eyes before grabbing it from him. “You’re insufferable.”
“That’s a yes, then,” he said, grinning. She turned the lights off and put the book on her nightstand before she slid under the covers, snuggling up next to him anyway.
“I’ll let you know when I get to the juicy parts,” she grumbled eventually. He laughed under his breath, pulling her tighter against him as he maneuvered them so her back was to his chest as usual. His heart was beating its usual steady rhythm against her, a familiar baseline that let her know she was safe and everything was right in the world as long as she could curl up next to him every night.
“I love you,” she whispered, not sure if he was asleep yet. He could fall asleep anywhere, and ridiculously quickly at that; she wasn’t too proud to admit she was jealous.
“I love you, too,” he replied, tangling their legs together.
It didn’t take long for either of them to fall asleep after that.

You know, even if I have been warming up to her, I could honestly forgive Zoé if she was meant to be a parody of a Mary Sue and not a natural one. What do I need to by this?
Like how be an actual parody/satire of one.
For example, let's take Sierra from Total Drama
Both not only have the unusual and brightly colorful design, but what makes Sierra different is that unlike Zoé, she's annoying and obnoxious around the TD contestants to the point where she outright stalks one of them!
Now let's say Zoé was a big fan of the Miraculous team to the point where everyone gets tired of her, yet at the same time, they all agree to keep her around as a way to have her help them defeat Hawk Moth or an akumatized villain. Just like how Heather or Cody took advantage of Sierra in order to help them win the challenges.
In a way, it would not only be a perfect satire, but it would also have Zoé be more of a character and less of a tool.
That does make her sound more interesting. Maybe they could make jokes about how she never appeared before this or how quickly she got her Miraculous.

Ziva x reader - The secret is
Tumblr media
May I please request ziva david x fem reader? Where r is part of the team and her and ziva have to go undercover as a married couple. What no one knows is that they are actually married. (Except Gibbs cause you know.. He's Gibbs 😅) They team doesn't find out until weeks later when discussing it. - Anon💜
You looked at the temporary home with a smile on your face, your hands laced with Ziva’s as she beams at you.
“It’s a nice place.” She noted.
“It really is.”
Leaning over, you kissed her cheek and the pair of your entered.
You two were going undercover as a married couple to try and catch out a perp who was attacking female naval officers.
You started to look around while Ziva followed you on the phone to the team.
“You guys are selling the whole married thing pretty well.” Tony commented.
“Thanks, it’s pretty easy when you’re into girls.” You snickered.
The team chuckled, and you grinned massively. How they hadn’t noticed that you and Ziva were actually married was far beyond you.
Sitting on the couch, you watched as she came over, sitting on the other side. You shrugged a little and moved, resting your head in your lap as you held her free hand.
“So, What, we just hang out?”
“Yeah, just hang out, go places, do some shopping or something. Take it was a holiday in a way.” McGee said.
“It shouldn’t be that hard.” Ziva said, “we’ll have a look around the base tomorrow, try speak to people.”
Everyone agreed and we hung up, leaning down she kissed your forehead and grabbed the TV remote.
“What would you like to watch?”
“Eh I don’t mind, pick something you like.”
“I remember having a conversation with Tony about old films, would that be okay with you if we watched one?”
“Ooo yes!”
Ziva chuckled, searching through the old films that were being aired. She carefully read each one before deciding on an old action movie.
It was the best undercover missions you’d ever done, it was peaceful up until the perp came, but she wuickly handed herself over.
It had been a few weeks and you were all just longing in the bullpen.
“So, What did you guys even do while undercover.” McGee asked.
“Well, we watched some old films because Tony recommended them to Ziva, and we just chill out.”
“Yes, it was rather peaceful. It was a nice change from the usual cases.”
You looked over at your wife and beamed brightly, getting up, you walked over to her desk and took a seat on it next to her.
“I’ve gotta say though, it was really creepy how well you guys pulled off being married.” Tony chuckled.
“Why’s that TD?” You asked.
He shrugged a little, leaning back against his desk. Gibbs looked up from his paperwork and smirked a little.
“Well, I don’t know, it just seemed so natural like you guys had been married for years.”
“That’s true actually, how was it so easy for you two?” McGee asked next.
You flicked your gaze to Ziva and gave a slightly nod to her.
“Well, it does help when you’re actually married.” She replied.
There was a pindrop silence and Tony and McGee laughed.
“Come on guys, we get you’re close but seriously.” Tony laughed, “Ziva your sarcasm is getting better.”
“I’m being serious.”
“She’s right, been married two years.”
The boys blinked, flicking their gazes from the two of you, then to Gibbs, then back to you and Ziva.
“Seriously.” Tony said.
“As serious as a bullet wound.” You said.
You pulled a chain around your neck which held your golden band, and Ziva pulled a bracelet from under her sleeve which held a matching one.
“Boss?!” McGee yelled.
“It’s true, I was there.”
“Why the hell didn’t you guys tell us?!” Tony pouted.
“Honestly just kinda slipped our minds.” You grinned.
They started asking loads of questions and complaining which made you and Ziva laugh. It was hard not telling them, but now they knew it was going to make things a whole lot more interesting

angst/fluff prompt: #86 <3
Season 4 Brio - no secret service, no wire, just vibes and family fun.
The smell of meat cooking on the grill wafts enticingly through Beth’s nostrils. From what she can see there’s a smorgasbord of steaks, burgers and ribs. Not to mention corn, rice, beans, potato salad… Vegetarians and keto-diet beware.
Children ranging from ages two to thirteen run rampant through the yard. The oldest kids scuffle over a soccer ball while the younger ones play tag. Among them is Marcus, who almost sprints by them if not for Rio scooping him up into his arms.
“Hey now,” he chastises his son, who doesn’t lose his toothy grin, “Where’s your manners at? Say hello to Mrs. Boland.”
Marcus waves sheepishly at her. “Hi Mrs. Boland.”
Beth can’t help it, always charmed by this miniature Rio, she smiles back brightly.
“Hi, Marcus,”
Rio nods in approval, setting Marcus down, but crouching low so they’re eye to eye. Marcus nearly vibrates in his father’s hold, eager to get back to his game of tag.
“Don’t go gettin’ all dirty, or your mama’s gonna be real mad.”
Marcus rolls his eyes. “But daddyyy. You brought me extra clothes just in case!”
“Yeah. Just in case.” Rio stresses, but his lips pull into a smile.
Marcus rushes off in search of his cousins, running through a small mud pile as he goes. Rio sighs.
Out of all their differences they do have one thing in common - the exasperation of being parents.
“Who taught your son how to be so polite?” Beth asks, “Couldn’t have been you.”
“Very funny, mami.” Rio bristles, gesturing for her to continue walking toward a group of adults standing in a circle, beers in hand.
He introduces her to each person. It’s a lot of hands to shake. All their smiles are so warm and genuine, there’s no way this is Rio’s family. They’re just so… nice.
This is not what she’d expected when he told her his “people” wanted to meet her. She’d expected something murkier like… like meeting at a warehouse or in the back of a business or... Even an alleyway for godsakes. Not his family reunion.
Turns out his “boss” is his grandmother. Who's the most lovely person Beth’s ever met. They have a long conversation about the benefits of a cast iron skillet - good for keeping those boys in line - Rosa had said playfully, nodding to Rio and his male family members. If only Beth could keep him in line.
The only person she has her doubts about is Nick - Rio’s…. Cousin? Brother? It was all very odd. However the tension had been broken when a boisterous male family member had announced it was time for the annual football game.
“It’s always held right before dinner,” Rosa explains to her, “Because those boys would be too full to play after!”
It’s six versus six. Beth grabs a seat next to Rosa and Rio’s sister. Sister!! Marcus sits happily on Rosa’s lap.
A few orange cones are set up on either end of the large backyard. It’s supposed to be touch football, but Beth soons comes to discover that it’s a full on game of tackle football after all the niceties (trash talk) has been exchanged between each team.
She watches in hidden delight as Rio takes down brother-cousin hard in the grass, causing Nick to fumble and one of Rio’s younger cousins to swoop the ball up and run it in for a TD.
Marcus and Beth cheer in unison. Rio stands, brushing dirt off his black t-shirt (his usual button down laid across the back of Beth’s lawn chair) He winks at both of them, causing Marcus to giggle and Beth to blush, before helping up his brother-cousin. Nick looks pissed at first, but quickly disguises his anger when Rio smacks him good-naturedly on the shoulder.
Rio’s team ends up winning on a pick-six, with Rio easily intercepting a pass and running to the other side of the yard. Marcus bursts from his grandmother’s lap and leaps into Rio’s arms at the end of the game.
“Daddy I wanna play with you next time!”
Rio hoists his son onto his shoulders, his large hands engulfing Marcus’s skinny ankles as he saunters toward her.
The sight makes her heart clench, Rio and his son wearing identical smiles. Her fingers itch to grab her phone and snap a picture, but no, that would be weird.
He swoops Marcus down his body and plants his little feet on the ground, then Marcus is taking off, distracted by the yellow labrador that’s bound out of the house, all the kids chasing after the poor dog.
Rio drops in the chair next to Beth, their elbows touching. He’s sweaty, and Beth makes a face, but she thinks it just makes him look even more handsome.
“And what about you, darlin’?” he asks, scooting his chair closer to hers.
“What about me?” she asks, genuinely confused.
She yelps, because one moment her butt is seated on the plastic lawn chair and the next Rio is hoisting her up and onto his lap. Beth sputters, completely taken aback. He hasn’t touched her like this since… since - and in front of all these people -
“Do you wanna play with me next time?” he whispers in her ear, and Beth blushes so brightly it must be blatantly obvious to everyone around them what Rio is saying to her. His family has all diverted their eyes, talking with each other and pretending to be interested in their drinks.
She glares at him. This is not the time or place. But he’s smiling at her so softly, so full of affection. Her heart hurts because she knows she doesn’t deserve it.
“I love your smile,” she hears herself saying softly. Before her mind can catch up her hand is moving to his face, thumb gently tracing his bottom lip.
He nips at her finger, patting her thigh.
“Let’s go get some dinner. I’m starving.”
The innuendo is not lost on Beth, in fact, she’s starving, too.

It was one of Seamus’ splendid galas: a charity event. The marble ballroom floor sparkled under the crystal chandeliers, alive with noise and music and laughter. Butlers popped in and out of passageways like genies in bottles, carrying dishes of little snacks and platters of drinks, wiping up spills before anyone could notice them, clearing away used dishes and trash. The guests milled about, the men in their perfectly tailored black suits, the women in their brightly colored gowns dotting the room like roses on a bush.
Ultana wore red. Hugh hand an arm draped around her waist. They were busy socializing, making small talk, jokes, entertaining, leaving Seamus free to secure votes and hash out overdue deals and plans with other TDs. At last the two of them took a break to get fresh drinks and stood at the edge of the room. Hugh finally disentangled himself from her and put one hand in the pocket of his trousers, whiskey poised in his other hand.
Ultana was focused on her own drink, mostly just so she could, for half a second, tune out the rest of the party. Her head was starting to pound from all the noise and stress.
“Oh,” Hugh said. “Murdoch’s here. I’ve got to go say hello.”
“Do you want me to--”
Already he was off through the crowd. Ultana followed his line of sight and found Murdoch, sure, but Hugh wasn’t really looking at him. Murdoch had some pretty blonde thing with him and Hugh was making a beeline straight for her.
Ultana set her drink down on the nearby table and stalked off through the crowd to catch up.
“Murdoch! Mate!” Hugh called out. He approached the pair and Ultana came up only a few steps behind to wrap her arm around his. He shot her a glance, surprised. She merely flashed him a sweet smile. Hugh’s attention flitted back to the girl first, then Murdoch. “Some party, right?”

THOSE INFERNAL SCREAMS FINALLY ended with Jiyan’s attack, the TD’s head cut away with the ferocity of the other’s final push forward. He instantly ceased sending out electric currents, through his body still thrummed with the intensity of that energy. Pushing himself away, there was no grace when he landed back upon the ground, his sword stabbing into the floor as it took him a moment to collect himself. The sharpness of his eyes was dulled with exhaustion, and he felt as if his body was merely on autopilot. Even the words that were uttered by the General were nearly missed, for they were heard, but not wholly processed. Despite the defeat of that TD, there was no joy to be felt or feeling of accomplishment. What was left behind, was just the memory of those screams resounding within his mind like an echo. Lifting his hand, he pressed his forehead against a closed fist, eyes closing as he attempted to control his breathing. Calcharo was used to pushing himself far beyond his limit. He did it on a constant basis, so much so that his body had even adapted to being dangerously near the edge. Even when he did overclock, he still held control over himself to such a point, that one would think he completely adapted to his powers.
No disaster followed in his wake, no emotions overcoming him to the point that his forte would run wild… But those other times were different. This environment wasn’t on his side from the beginning, and then all that transpired too… The familiar presence of phantoms – he could feel them, knowing that they were there just as they always were when he was at this point. Hovering close like ghosts, forever near and never truly apart. ❝Stay away.❞ One would think that he was speaking to them, but his words were aimed at the only other person in this room. The golden Tacet Core upon his chest flickered brightly within that dark room, the air crackling with energy just as it had when they had initially attempted to reach this floor.
     I chose them for this.
Tumblr media
Death was an inevitability for mercenaries. Many joined this profession chasing credits or fame, but your first contract could also just as easily be your last. There were no guarantees you’d actually live to use what you were given, and thus, when you died, you were forgotten. Even so...this was... TD made sense in the fact that they were driven by instinct. Everything they ever did for that and that alone. People, though... He was frustrated, many other emotions clawing along his skin and tearing at that beating heart in his chest…but what he felt the most in that instant, was rage. Rage boiling within him so intense that when his gaze turned to the head of that TD lying quietly upon that cold floor once more, the electricity dancing about his form crackled louder, stronger in its intensity. Fractsidus…
     He'd hunt them down.
"-!" The sight of that metallic limb slamming down on him as he fell would've paralyzed anyone, but Jiyan's body moved on its own, never giving up no matter what. He knew he wouldn't be able to completely dodge or block the attack, but he still had to try. But before he could be impacted, Calcharo appeared like lightening, dragging him out of range. His vision blackened once more, the tension and sudden speed proving to be too much for his injured head. And perhaps it was minutes or just a second when he returned to himself but, when he jumped to his feet, all he could see was an onslaught of electric attacks and lightning that gave little room for the TD to keep up with. He had always admired how swift and precise the mercenary leader is in a battlefield, but this was... Calcharo was leaving him little room to intervene.
The general gritted his teeth once he realized the other's plan. He couldn't ask them to retreat anymore, to cease abusing their forte, so he was forced to follow the script, qinglong summoned once more. Despite the numbness and nausea that wished to drag him down, a swift and resolute figure dashed forward.
Tumblr media
"Windrider."
Qinglong roared in all of its glory, the embodiment of the general's unshakeable resolution and strength. The wind blade made contact with thick cables and then came down on the TD like a mandate of heaven. There were no more horrid screams and the TD ceased in its movements, its singular red eye losing light as the general landed on the floor. By the time Jiyan rose to his feet and his qinglong disappeared, the heavy metallic head of the TD followed and crudely dropped by his side. The body didn't collapse, but all functioning ceased.
But this was no brilliant victory for humanity, nor another step to permanently defeat the Lament. This was the 'cleanup' for his lack of foresight. "..." Silence reigned in the control room, but darkness didn't. Minuscule, intangible lights came from the mech before fading into nothingness a second later. The signal was so weak that it would've gone unnoticed if he hadn't been staring at it, but those momentary lights had to be the frequencies of his people and the mercenaries. It was so similar to that sonoro sphere when... Jiyan closed his eyes.
'I'm sorry'
A familiar sensation pressed on his throat, closing around it like it was trying to drown him even though he could breathe perfectly, but he pushed it away. "Let's gather the belongings and dog tags of the fallen men and women here. I'm afraid that what transpired here cannot be made public due to the nature of it, but you can rest assured that their deaths won't be written off as mere accidents." He knew that the people who spent their last moments in this facility deserved more than he could offer. But this place needed to be destroyed as soon as possible, nothing could leave this facility that should've never existed, and...
Something wasn't right. The calamity-level TD was dealt with, the risk was no more. So why hasn't Calcharo said anything back? He could tell they were especially shaken by the actions of the Fractsidus and having to fight that mech abomination, but it still was unlike the man to be this unresponsive. "Calcharo, it won't be long before the adrenaline starts wearing off. You used your forte excessively, and I need to treat my concussion as soon as possible. The prolonged exposure to the hostile environment might've unpleasant effects on our bodies too, we need to leave." After another pause, he finally turned to look at the mercenary leader.
"Calcharo?"

Conlang gimmick shower thought: parasitic consonants
Some preconditions: The language is pretty much exclusively suffixing and head initial. Has left aligned trochaic feet, and a degree of vowel reduction in unstressed syllables. The language only allows CVC syllables maximally, and wants open syllables word-finally
So, the gimmick is basically that lexemes can be of the form 12v3 where 1 and 2 are any consonant except plosives of the same place in a voicing clash (pb, td, kg, vice versa). In isolation only 2 can be pronounced, but 1 can show up if a vowel precedes it.
Some ad hoc sketching:

"Translation":
The wind and the sun were in dispute, who the more-strong was, when a man, who to-him a coat was, had in come to-them. Wind started in blow, blow, blow, but the man simply had in held the coat his more tightly. Wind thus had in be-under [gave up] him[self]. Then, the sun was in shine brightly, and the man thus had in put-down the coat his. Then thus, the wind was in cause in sit [forced to bow, admit], that she was the more strong.
post scriptum I realized I had no rgyalrongic aesthemes but rgal, lkon, etc very likely
it would be likely to evolve from an iamb-heavy sesquisyllabic language. while it would prefer suffixes, it could have a series of fossil prefixes
