THE CRESCENT OF FOOLS AND FORGOTTEN TIME ⤳ a wip (re)intro
Lucille Carmine is not one to relinquish her hold on someone once her wicked talons have sunk into them, as Jayce all too painfully learns once more. He’s pulled into her employ again, Lott jumping in after his best friend, tasked - under extreme duress, of course - to retrieve The Liminality Paradox. Previously thought to have been nothing more than a bedtime story, Jayce and Lott find themselves unwillingly heading to The Crescent of Fools and Forgotten Time, right into the heart of The Fool’s domain, a place where time and space lose all meaning, where everything that has ever happened is happening all at once and where nothing ever happens all the same. A place where the ends of the universe could be nothing more than a hop, skip, and a jump away, but the five feet in front of you could stretch out to infinity and beyond. A place where the insane rule sovereign and the sane are grinded to a dust, folded into the ripples of the Crescent. All to steal an artifact of untold power for one of the most dangerous overlords of the criminal world, and to lay even more unchecked power at her feet for her to abuse.

this is such a sweet idea! I'd love it if you could add Now They Call Me the Plague and The Crescent of Fools and Forgotten Time to your queue!
Are you a writer, artist, or creative of any sort, and you want reblogs on your original work? Submit them to my queue!
Reblog this post and add links to the posts you want me to share.
I'll try to leave comments in the tags but I make no promises
If I like your stuff, I might trawl through your blog for more posts. If you have a tag for your original works, leave it in the tags on your reblog and identify it somehow so I can isolate your original work easily. (Like mine is #etta's art or #etta rambles)
Pls no fandom stuff. I'm behind on the last 80 years of pop culture and this is about supporting OCs and indie projects.
Content warnings/tropes/other info is appreciated but not required
If you see me like your post, that means it's been viewed and added to the queue, you can expect to see it reblogged in 10-30days.
(My queue posts 10 posts a day and I'm down to under 100)
Even if you don't have anything to add to the queue, boosts are appreciated!

then boy howdy, is The Crescent of Fools and Forgotten Time the movie for you!
(majorly appreciate any reblogs and signal boosting!)
Jayce and Lott find themselves in the twisted grasp of Lucille Carmine, one of the most dangerous Overlords of the criminal world, in a fantasy-heist, splicing the thrill of walking the edge of a knife with fantastical malevolence.
full intro here
And the best part is that you can get it made! Literally all you have to do is head to this link, read the script (you can also listen if that's more your style), and vote with your honest opinions. The winner of the competition gets their movie fully funded and produced!
I've found that the listening tool is more reliable than reading, so to make sure your vote counts in one go, just hit play and mute the tab while you read. Feel free to reach out to me if you run into any issues!
So go forth and read! Tell your friends! Tell your family! Tell that annoying guy you always see at your bus stop in the morning!
P.S. If you send me a screenshot of your vote, I'll do everything I possibly can to get your name added to the credits :)

please go and vote on my movie about two dumbass best friends (being forced to deal with the most volatile, insane, dangerous myth-turned-to-reality under threat of death and destruction by an equally deranged harpy) to be made if you don't want me to cry

mind
(aka it's not their fault they're idiots, your honour)
Tumblr media
LOTT PENBROOK MATRON (shuddering): Why does that sound like I’d rather be Lucille’s mind-controlled puppet? JAYCE VAN NYE: Because that’s probably the smart choice to make here. LOTT PENBROOK MATRON: But we’re not going to make it.
blind(ing)
Tumblr media
LOTT PENBROOK MATRON (immediately evaporating all intensity from the scene): Look, I’m all for these adventures and all but why in the name of all the stars above and below do we have to get up at the blinding crack of dawn to leave for them? JAYCE VAN NYE: It’s noon, Lott.
find
Tumblr media
They find themselves in an underwater palace. Waterspouts churning in place make up the columns and all manner of marine life filters in and out freely. The entire structure moves with the currents of the very lowest points of the ocean, drifting lazily and carrying its occupants with it.
Don't have anything for rewind, unfortunately.

Happy Storyteller Saturday!
How would your main wip change if it was a short story instead of a book? (Or vice versa!)
Thanks so much for the ask! My main WIP at the moment is The Crescent of Fools and Forgotten Time, which is a feature film, so I'll modify the question and answer for if it was a show; maybe something in the 20 minute episode range.
As a movie, I wanted it to hit the roughly 1.5 hour range because that's what felt right for a comedic fantasy heist. I love what I put out but converting it to a show would open up some interesting possibilities I haven't explored.
I'd show Lott and Jayce on a completely unrelated heist to establish them as thieves and explore how the thieving guild works in this world.
I'd add in a visit to Lott's family - maybe even a whole episode - because I think his past is really interesting.
I'd stretch out the final showdown (not commenting on who it's between for the sake of spoilers) just a little bit because I'd love to have a visually explosive spectacle.
I think Amara is a really interesting character and her doddering about in her workshop could be given more time.
Lucille would go on to recruit more than she does in the movie as it stands at the moment.
I think a show format really just allows you to flesh out the world some more beyond just the main plotline simply because it gives you more time to do so. There's also minor arcs created by breaking down the story into each episodes which lends itself to greater possibilities, and you can even pause the overall arc for an episode or two while you go off exploring something else.
Jayce and Lott find themselves in the twisted grasp of Lucille Carmine, one of the most dangerous Overlords of the criminal world, in a fantasy-heist, splicing the thrill of walking the edge of a knife with fantastical malevolence.
This is a feature film, the script for which I've submitted to a competition where the grand prize is the winner's movie being fully funded and produced!! THE CRESCENT OF FOOLS AND FORGOTTEN TIME ⤳ no context tag
Thanks to @veneritia for the tag! Rules: Post a snippet with no context from your last project.
From The Crescent of Fools and Forgotten Time, featuring Lott being a chaos gremlin ~~
Tumblr media
Transcript:
JAYCE VAN NYE (O.S.): Well, for starters, you never want to owe Herald too much. I’m just glad we got one on the house this time. As for transport, we’re going to have to, erm, track something down. LOTT PENBROOK: Mini heist before the heist? JAYCE VAN NYE: Basically, yeah. Lott’s eyes twinkle with the prospect of crime.

hand
Tumblr media
Herald presses a hand to the side of the table. It hums with magical energy and leaves a sparkling blue handprint on it. The table hisses and a small slot shoots out, a single vial of pink powder in it. JAYCE VAN NYE (quietly): Pixie dust. Lott takes a startled step back.
window
Tumblr media
A blast suddenly flies through the window, shattering it and heading straight for Habana. It hits him in the chest and sends him flying back. Jayce crouches to shield himself from the flying debris. LOTT PENBROOK MATRON: I got you. Now hurry up! JAYCE VAN NYE: Stars! Yep, I’m on it.
turn
Tumblr media
The car makes contact with the ocean, making a tiny plop one would expect from a smooth pebble. A kaleidoscope of psychedelic nonsense assaults the senses as they traverse between the two dimensions. They emerge into a realm of pure calm. A picture-perfect sky, the kind one would see on ideal beach days. But it’s a strange, unsettling kind of calm. Everything is too much. The sky is too blue, the air is too still. The sun is too bright and the clouds look as though they were sculpted from marble. Jayce and Lott shield their eyes and turn back inwards. A winged creature flying past draws their attention back to the outside. They initially mistake it for a seagull but soon realize it’s a twisted version with teeth all over its wings and a mouth on both ends of its body.
sea
Tumblr media
Beams of light stream down from the suns and strike the sea sharply on either side of them. They keep striking, successively getting closer and closer. Jayce and Lott stand back-to-back. The beams touch the edges of the island and refract into enough beams to circumnavigate the island. A legion of creatures made of light and water appear at the beams. Lott peers into the distance. LOTT PENBROOK MATRON: Are those…dust bunnies? Jayce gives him a deadpan expression.

@sarandipitywrites tagged me in a Head's Up 7 Up a long, long time ago (sorry!) so here we go ~
Here's a little snippet from The Crescent of Fools and Forgotten Time in which we meet Lott, one of our two main characters :)
Tumblr media
Transcript:
Jayce walks in, disgruntled and exhausted. We see Lott - a humanoid dragon with scaly orange skin and wings to match on his back - hanging upside down from a bar that stretches across the living room. A TV plays opposite him; the image, however, is right-side up. Lott is shirtless and we can see two horizontal scars on his chest. He sees the state in which Jayce enters and jumps down, landing disgracefully on his face instead of the back flip he attempted. Jayce chuckles.

finally responding to @thebearthatreads' find the word tag! From The Crescent of Fools and Forgotten Time (a movie!) ~
chaos
Amidst the chaos, Jayce slips through the crowd and slinks towards the stairs. He rushes to the guard, feigning a blind panic, the guard too distracted by the chaos to notice Jayce’s palm beginning to glow. He pushes his palm to the guard’s chest, his purple magic soon spreading across the guard and enveloping him in streaks of glowing purple wires. The guard is soon covered in purple wires. His eyes roll back in his head and his eyelids shut. He sways unsteadily and passes out and falls. Jayce catches him and lays him down gently.
blood
Jayce (with a careful, measured cadence): It was your job, Lucille. You didn’t rat yourself out. You saved yourself, not me. Lucille: Be that as it may, you’re the one who actually carried it out. And who do you think they’re going to come after when they demand their blood? Lucille steps closer, her feathers beginning to ruffle in the sudden wind. Lucille: Me? She extends a long, claw-like finger to Jayce, tilting his chin upwards. Lucille: Or you?
Didn't have anything for poison or cold, unfortunately!

THE CRESCENT OF FOOLS AND FORGOTTEN TIME ⤳ a wip intro
Mallory Fintan disappeared without a trace five years ago, sending the tracking world into a frenzy. For a while, the guild did what it does best: it tracked. They weren't going to take the absence of one of their best lying down, and hunted down every herring and goose chase they caught whiff of, but all was for naught. Whatever had caused Mallory to go MIA had gone to a lot of trouble to make sure every trail would run cold. Until Lot had a dream. A lost soul calling out. Glimpses, flashes of a prison. A surge of power that left a very real scar. Unsure of why she disappeared in the first place, unsure of who to trust - if anyone at all - Jayce and Lot go at it alone to solve a myriad of mysteries. Who took Mallory? What kept her there? Who sent Lot the dream? The Crescent of Fools and Forgotten Time is an urban fantasy adventure (with a human-dragon team up!) that’ll plunge Jayce and Lot headfirst into the seedy underbelly of the tracking world, tossing them into a tsunami of nefariousness, dubious double crosses, and a cloud of deception wrapped so tightly around reality, the fog may never truly lift.
STATUS: ideation (but I'm just so excited about this title I had to share it)
GENRE: urban fantasy / mystery adventure / (possibly) horror

This is in such nascent stages this is really all I have to say at the moment, but I'm absolute buzzing about it so thought I'd breath it to life on the internet :)
