I really like TCF, and I'm interested in book binding. So of course I was curious how much "book" would be needed to adapt the whole LN. I knew it was really long, so it'd take a couple big ones to include everything. Then I did some quick calculations and um. Uh. Well, here's a little math:

50k words at the minimum comfortable size and font comes out to approximately 100 pages. The average "largest" size books contains ~600 pages (at minimum size). That being said, it would kill me to read such tiny text for very long. Realistically, a comfortable font size (for me) would be 350 per page at most, so I'll be using that number moving on.

With that in mind, some of the more popular large book series like Eragon (906k total words, largest book having 280k words or 880 (803) pages) and Harry Potter (1M 84k total, largest having 257k or 870 (735) pages).

TCF has approximately 2M 150k words, 776 chapters. In part one. Ok, so... 2,150,000 words, with 1 page being ~350 words... that's 6143 pages. And if we gave each title in the series ~800 pages each, that's still 8 GIGANTIC books. TL;DR:

Eight books, 350 words per page, 800 pages each.

For reference, here's the A Song of Ice and Fire series, 1M 770k words, 4.2k pages (~400 words per page), 5 books total (~840 pages per book).

L’Esprit Festif de Diwali

Diwali est ma fête préférée, un moment où nous nous réunissons en famille pour célébrer et créer des souvenirs. Chaque année, ma sœur prend quelques jours de congé pour nous rejoindre, ce qui rend la fête encore plus joyeuse. Le temps commence à se rafraîchir après la chaleur intense de l’été. Nous nettoyons et organisons la maison, la décorons avec des guirlandes lumineuses et préparons des sucreries et des plats spéciaux. Faire les courses devient un événement, car nous choisissons des décorations, des cadeaux et des friandises, et les marchés, magnifiquement décorés, ajoutent à l’esprit festif.

Les célébrations commencent plusieurs jours à l’avance avec des pujas et des rituels. Pour Chhoti Diwali, nous faisons une petite puja et allumons des lampes à huile, que nous plaçons autour de la maison pour accueillir la paix et la prospérité. Le jour de Diwali, nous nous levons tôt, impatients pour la grande puja du soir en famille. Nous décorons la maison avec des fleurs, des rangolis, des lumières, des bougies et des diyas. Des plats spéciaux sont préparés, et nous rendons visite à nos proches pour échanger des cadeaux et des vœux chaleureux. Diwali est une belle occasion de se connecter avec la famille et les amis, et c’est un moment parfait pour faire une détox numérique et se déconnecter du travail.

Ces célébrations incluent également des gourmandises, et les sucreries et plats frits nous font souvent prendre quelques kilos ! Mais la joie et la convivialité en valent la peine. Le soir, nous nous habillons en tenue indienne traditionnelle, avec des bijoux et du maquillage, pour la grande puja, qui dure environ une heure. Pendant ce temps, nous faisons nos prières et l’aarti. C’est un moment paisible et unificateur, rempli de gratitude et de dévotion.

Après la puja, nous plaçons des lampes à huile autour de la maison pendant que le ciel s’illumine de feux d’artifice. Nos voisins, qui ont trois jeunes fils, nous invitent à partager leurs feux d’artifice. Bien que nous limitions nos feux d’artifice pour protéger l’environnement, nous nous joignons à eux pour admirer le spectacle, prendre des photos, faire des vidéos, danser et partager un repas. Quand Diwali se termine, nous ressentons à la fois un sentiment de plénitude et de fatigue, mais nous attendons déjà avec impatience les célébrations de l’année prochaine.

Salão de Detroit é cancelado e espaço será convertido em hospital

O Salão de Detroit 2020 foi cancelado. O maior evento automotivo dos EUA sucumbe ao avanço do coronavírus no país e, de acordo com um comunicado da Ford ao jornal Detroit News, o evento deverá ocorrer somente em 2021.

Mark Truby, chefe de comunicação da Ford, disse: “Apoiamos totalmente os organizadores do NAIAS em seu adiamento”. A saúde e a segurança de nossa comunidade … é nossa principal prioridade e estamos ansiosos para ver o retorno do programa em 2021″.

O evento ocorreria em junho pela primeira vez na história, pois sempre fora realizado em janeiro. Diante do aumento da presença de marcas de carros e sistemistas automotivos na CES, em Las Vegas, os organizadores decidiram alterar definitivamente o período do evento, mudando-o para o meio do ano.

Além disso, o NAIAS – nome oficial em inglês – teria uma série de mudanças para atrair público e manter o interesse das montadoras, especialmente com eventos ao ar livre, test drives e outras ações envolvendo as pessoas.

Agora, por conta do Covid-19, o Salão de Detroit 2020 está cancelado e em seu lugar, o espaço será convertido em um hospital de campanha para atender as vítimas da doença. Nas redes sociais, o Corpo de Engenharia do exército americano, acompanhado da Guarda Nacional de Michigan e de autoridades locais, visitaram o TCF Center, em Detroit.

Rod Alberts, diretor do NAIAS, disse: “Embora estejamos decepcionados, não há nada mais importante para nós do que a saúde, a segurança e o bem-estar dos cidadãos de Detroit e Michigan, e faremos o possível para apoiar a luta de nossa comunidade contra o surto de coronavírus”.

Antes conhecido como COBO Hall, o TCF Center receberá as adaptações necessárias para atender as vítimas em Michigan, estado que registra 111 mortes e 4.650 casos. Nos EUA, o país registra 118.314 casos confirmados com 2.229 mortes e 3.238 recuperados. Em nível global, o coronavírus já infectou mais de 500 mil pessoas e matou quase 32 mil.

600 perguntas para praticar antes de fazer o TCF (Teste de Conhecimento de Francês) com o simulador gratuito da TV5 Monde, em um computador, tablet ou telefone. O TCF é um teste de nível linguístico do francês geral, destinado a pessoas de todos os públicos não francófonos que tem interesse em estudar na França ou tem razões profissionais e pessoais. Esse teste vai definir o nível de francês do candidato, tendo resultados do A1 ao C2, na escala de competências definida pelo Conselho da Europa. Portanto, não há caso de reprovação no TCF, diferente do que acontece com o DELF e DALF.

Tipos de TCF

TCF DAP ( TCF para Pedido de Admissão Prévia) É um teste destinado à quem quer entrar no primeiro ano da universidade L1 ou em uma escola de arquitetura, caso não tenha passado no teste DELF ou DALF. O CIEP dá todos os detalhes. Custa 67 euros. TCF pour l'accès à la nationalité française (ANF) Teste destinado para quem vai pedir a nacionalidade francesa por casamento ou para quem vai pedir naturalização. O candidato deve ter o mínimo o nível B1. O teste inclui duas provas obrigatórias: Compreensão oral (29 questões), com duração de 30 minutos. É feito em uma sala com outras pessoas. Expressão oral, com duração de 12 minutos. É feita uma entrevista individual com um examinador e é preciso responder 3 questões usando todo o seu vocabulário. TCF pour le Québec Destinado a todo público, independente de sua nacionalidade e de sua língua de origem, que deseja ir morar permanentemente em Québec. Será dispensado do teste quem já fez o TCF, DEFL e DALF no período de no máximo 2 anos e conseguiu obter a nota B2, considerada como mínima de aprovação para o Québec. O teste tem 29 questões de múltipla escolha para a compreensão oral e 29 para as questões escritas. O candidato deverá responder à 3 questões para ter seu nível avaliado e cada uma tem um grau de dificuldade. Também deve responder 3 questões escritas, que também terão nível de dificuldade. TCF Tout Public Destinado  a qualquer tipo de público que deseje avaliar os seus conhecimentos em francês por razões pessoais, profissionais ou estudos. What's at stake: Decision Day presented by AT&T edition

Thanks to an exhilarating four-hour window in which 11 MLS games came and went, we consumed soccer at breakneck speeds on Sunday. It was fantastic and fun and nervy and pure. The best part? It serves as an appetizer to prepare us for Decision Day presented by AT&T this Sunday as 11 matches kick off simultaneously at 4:30 pm ET.

There are storylines aplenty to keep track of, so, here are some of the biggest to get you ready for Sunday:

Supporters’ Shield hangs in the balance

The New York Red Bulls refuse to fade away, forcing Atlanta United to earn the Shield with a historically successful season.

Both the Red Bulls and Atlanta broke the league’s single-season win record (21) in the post-shootout era on Sunday and the Red Bulls trail Atlanta by just one point for the Shield. ATL UTD have already tied Toronto FC’s record for most points in a season (69), set last year, while New York is more than likely to join them this weekend against Orlando City SC at home. Atlanta, meanwhile, head to BMO Field to face already-eliminated Toronto, who have the opportunity to stand and guard their record or watch Atlanta celebrate the Shield on their field. That’s a fantastically underrated narrative heading into Decision Day.

Regardless of what happens Sunday, it’s remarkably unfortunate for New York and Atlanta that the 2018 versions of each are coexisting. Any other year, each side would far and away be the best regular season team in the league, challenging for all-time immortality like TFC did last year while earning victory laps before the playoffs start. Now? One of these incredibly deserving sides will not win the Supporters’ Shield. And, as we all know, MLS Cup is far from guaranteed for either.

That’s how Zlatan Ibrahimovic dropped the mic at TCF Bank Stadium after the LA Galaxy beat Minnesota United 3-1.

The win, combined with Real Salt Lake’s 3-0 loss to the Portland Timbers, puts the Galaxy just one point below the playoff line. Now that RSL have played all 34 of their games, being the lone side to sit out Decision Day (thanks to #math), LA just need to beat the Houston Dynamo at home to make the Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs: if LA draw, they’ll be out due to RSL holding the tiebreaker of having more wins. Win and they’re in — it’s more than they could have possibly asked for just a few weeks ago.

Race for the No. 6 seed Part 2

The Western Conference isn’t the only side of the standings that has its final playoff place up for grabs.

Even after D.C. United booked their plans to play soccer after Decision Day, the Montreal Impact are alive because they can still catch Columbus Crew SC, who have fallen from comfortably in fourth place to in danger of missing the playoffs altogether. Two points ahead of Montreal, a Decision Day win would clinch the playoffs. Anything less? They’ll need help, because Montreal owns the tiebreaker.

The Crew host Minnesota while the Impact travel to New England. It’s still all to play for on Sunday for 6th place in the East.

First vs. Second in the West

For Sporting Kansas City to finish atop the Western Conference, the schedule worked out that they would control their own destiny in the final two weeks of the season. Of course, those two weeks couldn’t be much harder.

On Sunday, they traveled to Toyota Stadium to face FC Dallas, who entered the day ahead of SKC, and played fantastic in a 3-0 win. From there, they head to the Banc of California Stadium to face LAFC, where the winner will grab the first seed in the West. With SKC two points ahead of LAFC, they’ll keep first place with a draw. 

Meanwhile, Dallas head to Colorado to face the Rapids. They still are heavily in contention for a first-round bye, as a win would have them skip the Knockout Round regardless of what happens in LA. 

#WondoWatch?

In his last home game of the season, Chris Wondolowski needed one goal against the Rapids to tie Landon Donovan’s all-time MLS scoring record of 145. But it just wasn’t meant to be, meaning #WondoWatch continues to Decision Day and likely 2019.

Wondolowski has his final attempt of the season to tie, then possibly break, Donovan’s mark. There are seldom more difficult settings, though, as the Quakes travel to Seattle to line up against the league’s second-stingiest defense.
