The Shadowglass spoilers (The Bone Witch Series)

Finished chapter 12 and I'm 99% sure the traitor is Althy. I'm making more and more realisations and how it just fits too well.

1) it would be between Shadi, Althy or Tea's mother as suspects for Likh's blight. Shadi isn't a traditionalist but could theoretically still be physically capable (though again she would lack a motive) and the mother has an ordinary heartsglass so she is physically incapable at all. Which leaves only Althy or Shadi.

2) Althy has been with Mikayla from the start as her friend, however, if we look at this just purley physically, she has been around longest and since Mikayla lost her heartsglass AND, most importantly, there when the previous Dark Asha in Mikayla's care "went mad with darkrot" by laying waste to a village. Shadi was not around or knowledgeable of these events. She is too young.

3) If we assume darkrot isn't real or caused by dark heartsglass, then we can also assume that last Dark Asha from before could have been afflicted by the same poison Tea was. She was also dangerously "close" to taming the Daeva and questioning the Elders.

4) Why was Likh specially targeted for the blight? I think this may point to Althy's potential motives. I believe it wasn't just his/her closeness to Tea, but the deviancy from the Elder Asha's ways. Same with Khalad, Althy has been suspiciously distant and I don't think that's a coincidence. I think she's far more traditional in the older Asha ways than she lets on.

5) Althy was too quick to blame Tea. While she wasn't exactly hostile at first, she showed the same exact distance/ indifference to Tea when she was arrested as she tends to show Khalad. I think the latter point may be a stretch, but it gives off the same feel to me; there's distinct inability to frame Tea as innocent because she doesn't WANT Tea to be viewed as innocent.

6) Altaecia was far too quick to become volatile and so against tea. She also immediately blamed her for Mikaela's death, but I don't think it was genuine. It felt too forced. I think she knew tea was innocent, but wanted her to be viewed as guilty once again.

7) She demanded to see Tea's pages far too much and as far too hasty. She wanted to get those pages as soon as possible. She was very likely the one to steal the last pages.

8) I think the traitor would be someone who weasled their way right next to Tea to keep her as a regular ""Bone Witch who will die for her purpose"" rather than finding too much of the truth, and what better position would be as an Asha Sister to her?

As for her motives for all the above, I think it's very likely she was never actually friends with Mikaela but instead was charged to keep watch over her, helped to hide her heartsglass from her and silence Vanor, poisoned the apprentice to compel her into murder/ madness, poisoned Tea and killed Daisy, tried to blight Likh to frame Tea as the one to kill him/her (two birds with one stone), and, finally, was the one behind blighting the Elders and killing Mikaela. I think Althy, if we view her as an agent of the Elder Asha's and perhaps a to-be Elder Asha herself, these crimes make sense. Especially if you see her actions under a lense of traditionalism and trying to keep the status quo.

It's crazy to me how well the magic in Tactical Breach Wizards can fit the characters using it even though that magic lacks distinct "personality markers" like they do in some pieces of media.

(SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE STORY OF TBW)

Take Zan, for example. Every one of his abilities is based around resolving the problem directly in front of him, with explicit benefits for finishing it's purpose as quickly as possible (refunding false prophets and re-using Predictive Bolts if they go off before the end of the turn), with a distinctive lack of use in any area beyond the short term. this fits both with his second-long precognition but also his tendency as a character; he's always capable of solving the problem in front of him, but completely incapable of recognizing the strategy beyond that. in the (real) tutorial, he fucks up and hesitates because he can't recognize that Liv getting kidnapped is probably a way better outcome than the hostage he was sent to rescue dying, leading to both happening. before he meets Jen in Rushwater, he's basically just chasing behind Liv & Co with no plan on how to actually stop her or even an idea of what she's planning! Even after meeting Jen and heading to Liboli, it's just one very well-executed plan to get closer to Liv after another, with minimal planning beyond completing the immediate goals (get to the blacksite, eavesdrop on Reactor, get to Kalan, etc...) it isn't until you meet other characters like Dall and Moss that the party has anything resembling a longterm plan.

Effectively, Zans powers and mindset make him the ultimate operator, capable of carrying out any mission but utterly incapable of anything past that and it really sells it constantly.

2024 Wrap Up

It's still before New Years where I'm at! So let's slide this in!!

I'm gonna post some snippets from the year under the cut!

January - Finished editing Draft 15 of TBW, and workshopped it with my critique group. In January in specific, it was mostly writing the last chapter. Here's some content from then: Nathaniel and Riela in the hospital after all the shit went down.

For those of you who are newer, TBW is something I've been working on for ages with my co-writer. (If the number of drafts isn't any clue.) But we're 10+ years now. Anticipate seeing more of it as we're probably going to try to do revisions again this coming year.

February - Did some revisions on Heist. Honestly, it was nothing major because I spent that month packing (for a move that never ended up happening -_-) Here's a conversation I was tweaking at the time, having already rewritten the first few chapters of Heist in 2023. (Also this says Draft 3, but it was really more like Draft 2.5. This content is now in Chapter 5.)

Heist is a staple you've all seen me talk about I'm sure! It's set in the same universe as TBW, but with different MCs. I started it in 2022, started Draft 3 in late 2023, and as you'll see, started Draft 4 in late 2024. Still, I'm loving how it's all coming together!

March - Revising stuff in the first 5 chapters of Heist Draft 3. Some content from that time for you: Lelia and Ronan talking!

April - I'd made it through 15 Chapters of Heist Draft 3. However, midway through the month, I had some Life Happen, and stepped away from Heist for Reasons. I'll share some snippets from those works too. Here's a new Em and Vinny conversation that I wrote during that time.

April Part 2 - Due to Grief reasons, I ended up rereading most of CTQ, which is my GriefWIP™, and expanded on one of the scenes for a flashfic contest at that time, now in second person!

April Part 3 - I also ended up working on Aftermath, another Grief WIP. Which did not actually start as a WIP about grief... but I suppose when the premise is surviving after overthrowing an evil dictator, I can see how it went that way.

May - I started working more on Heist again, and got through 22 whole chapters! Some content for the time: the Jam Session!

June - I got Heist up to 34 chapters! Have some theology! It was very hard to find a snippet that was new content compared to the previous draft but also was not a blatant spoiler.

July - I got Heist up to 35 chapters, but then got stuck. Yes, this snippet says it's from Chapter 36 and that's because later I went back and added a chapter (and also had to restructure this whole area of the WIP.) New content: Lelia and Marcella conversation!

July Part 2 - I started working on my Dragon Age fanfic. The premise being that all the origin characters survive and join the party (though not as Grey Wardens.)

August - Heist revisions looked a lot like I didn't know how to number chapters at the time. Chapter 34, Chapter 35, Chapter 36, Chapter 35, Chapter 35, Chapter 36, Chapter 37..... Anyway, this is when I went back and added a chapter that fixed the problem I'd been having. So here, have Lelia and Ronan talking!

August Part 2 - While all that was going on, I also put another 10k into my WardenWIP.

August Part 3 - I also wrote a crossover fic with @rarmaster. This was an "ending" of sorts for two characters from our respective Kingdom Hearts fanfics.

Premise: The Riku Replica survived Chain of Memories by going to another universe. Years later, he and Namine talk about how they made it.

August Part 4 - Lastly, I wrote a thinly veiled Dragon Age fanfic, modeled after the Urn of Sacred Ashes trailer.

September - I got Heist up to 44 chapters and wrote one of my favorite sequences ever!

September Part 2 - I also wrote another 20k of WardenWIP.

October - Finished Draft 3 of Heist! Then I kind of just rested. (As was my right.)

November - I worked on worldbuilding documents, both my encyclopedia and my history doc.

Working on the Magic Encyclopedia was something that's a long-time coming. There's a very in-depth magic system for the world of Tyrysius, and half of drafting up an encyclopedia for how magic works is so that way we can minimize contradictions! I expect to go back to it in 2025 and continue fleshing it out.

November Part 2 - Working on the History document was good for nailing down what has transpired since the cataclysm 1200 years ago, what nations have risen and fallen, what technology has done, and plenty else. I anticipate working on this more in 2025 as well.

November Part 3 - I also spent a lot of time working how Draft 4 of Heist was going to come together because I already had ideas for revisions and the motivation to do them.

No fancy snippet but:

Shierdi isn’t looking for you because you haven’t done anything for me.” “Yeah but you’ve been trying to get my attention for a year.” “She doesn’t know that. She works through mortal staff a lot and has been wrapping me up in red tape. But, one of the benefits of being known as the drunken god is that none of the other gods think you can make up a plan.” “Yeah but there are other gods of alcohol.” “Everyone knows Adelus can’t plan! Even still, Shierdi thinks I’m more of a drunk than he is.”

December - Dove into Heist Draft 4! Have a snippet of a new conversation between Vinny and Em, that recycles dialogue from a scene with Lelia and Em that got cut.

December Part 2 - Also I started writing another crossover scene. The premise of this one is that Xion decides the Riku Replica is her little brother. It was rar's idea.

“Sister?”  She giggled. “Yeah.”  He blinked and mouthed the word again, as if tasting it on his tongue. His eyes lit up and he smiled. “Sure,” he laughed. “Why not? Why can’t my family get ridiculously bigger?” “That’s the spirit!” she said. “Want to go get ice cream?”  

That has not really gone anywhere yet, but I needed to get the initial dialogue out of my head.

Anyway, yeah, that was 2024 was a lot of writing. Here's to a good 2025!

7. Christine and the Queens - Redcar les adorables étoiles Full show on Youtube. I was supposed to see him live in October but he got injured and had to cancel the rest of his tour :( but this album and the video are incredible! Slight warning for semi nudity.

8. Game Changer on Dropout. he's been here the whole time!

9. The 1975 live at Madison Square Garden. I was lucky enough to see them twice this tour with my twin sister and we had an absolutely amazing time. They always put on amazing shows and this particular tour/their latest album meant so much to us. Even our younger brother has come with us for some of these shows so it's something we all share. (Last time they came to Chicago in 2022 the venue was too small so they didn't have the House set with them so we didn't get to see it in action until this year) Sex and The Sound will always be the perfect closers for their shows and I get so emotional every time I hear them. Core memories for sure.

10. Puss in Boots: the last wish. this seems like another obvious answer that i probably could have left off but this gets an honorary mention because our family cat was diagnosed with advanced bone cancer in August, and we had to put him down very soon after that diagnosis. We spent an agonizing week tending to him and cherishing every last second we could get with him. I've been fortunate enough to never experience the death of a pet until this year, and i almost wish we didn't have any pets at all because I've never felt such excruciating grief. He was a fat, grumpy orange boy with beautiful yellow stripes and a little yellow mustache. I was trying to distract myself and found this movie on Netflix and watched it, then recommended it to my sister (who is actually Thomas's owner but we all shared him) though I warned her the movie did deal with themes on mortality. We all watched it together the night before his final vet visit and Tommy was there with us on a comfy pillow. I hope he approved of the movie, because now any time I think of Puss in Boots i think of him. <3

I could add more to this but my eyes are tired and I'm wired up from coffee. I know this is long as hell so sorry but I had fun making it! I'll probably keep coming back to this post in the future to cross out what I've watched.

Okay, I've just finished reading the lost book of the white (tlbotw) and there are many things I love but I can't stop thinking about that Epilogue. I was constantly surprised with the narrative in this one, thinking that the epilogue would be of Shinyun Jung again, plotting or something but it was THE FREAKING 9 PRINCES OF HELL THINKING OF RAISING LUCIFER OR SOME SHIT.

Is this what they are up against next in the book of TEC? Why do I feel like thats too big for this series to cover, especially considering Sammael wasn't phased about the eldest curses. But then again, the eldest curses will be offspring of those princes of hell... soooooo idk anymore!

I am so amped for this. LUCIFER!!!!

Anyway, I wonder if people have any theories! I would love to hear them!

💧Rain - What's the most emotional scene you've ever written?

Ooh! Tough one.

I think, overall, it's the Embassy Attack one. (Not saying what happens because spoilers but I have a few people who know what I'm talking about.)

Ideally, though, I'd like to get one part of the Queen's Bedroom fight to be more emotional than the Embassy Attack one. But as of now, it's not there yet.

But like, for example the most emotional scenes per major WIP are:

TBW - Riot Scene

SB - Embassy Attack

CTQ - Queen's Bedroom Fight

I was gonna add Heist but I don't feel like I have a super sad emotional scene. Technically, the Festival scene has the highest-running emotions, but they're not sad, which is how I interpreted the ask.

This show had been on my TBW for a long time. If I remember correctly, what originally caught me was the cute style of the animation. After watching, this is definitely a cozy, low-risk fantasy. Following a girl, Akko, attending an academy for witches and her many mishaps along the way. Akko, though not gifted with much magic, is still determined to achieve her dreams and this makes her very loveable to me. I wholly enjoyed all of her friendships in the show. From her two roommates, Sucy and Lotte...to her rival turned friend, Diana. The plot line isn't too intense, usually following episodic stories with some overarching plots throughout the show. The main overarching plot being Akko trying to find the lost magic words and access a special kind of magic. I also really enjoyed the recurring character Andrew too. He may seem stuck up at first, but as we saw him interact more with our characters you began to like him more. The teachers at the academy are also, for the most part, likeable. Of course, like all school shows, we have the teacher who always seems to be trying to bring our MC down. But even she was a fun character. Overall, this was a pretty average show. It was fun and enjoyable to watch, and I'd recommend it to those looking for a chill fantasy.

I find it very funny, how Galar's while thing is that they don't remember the true events of the the Darkest Day, and then there's Naomi, who has her own memories " fogged up". But Hop doesn't. If anything, he's pretty normal with his memory. It's a bit better, sure, but it's nothing like Naomi.

I was thinking, recently, how Naomi being Chosen is so different from the rest. None of them has gotten their memories played with, or what she has gone through for years.

What I'm getting at is that I think Naomi was Cursed at first, not Chosen. Or at least a mix of the two.

I’m going to ignore the whole clues that they left us for season 1. I think this is spoiler-free for season one, and I’m going to cut it to avoid clogging up the dash if someone reblogs this. If someone spots more details/ curiosities feel free to add them! I’m sure there are more that I didn’t see.

-The freaking cacti everywhere! There are a lot in Miss Heed posts. Once again, I know this is old news to most of you, but I still needed to say it :P

Guardalajara xD Everything about this is perfect. The sign It’s even prettier than the original (usually they are like the second one, I don’t know why that one is different). And the Day of the death decorations in one of the actual days that it should be? For some reason, people think that November 1st is the day of the death, when in reality the holiday lasts about a week, being the 1st and 2nd the most important days.

-I can be wrong, but I think Black Hat is in the “papel picado” (that paper that some figures are cut in it).

Of course, they are a lot of “Where in the world is Aldo Maldonado”, “BH + Dem” and Black Hat´s logos in graffiti. Also, the occasional poster referring to the “Podemos bailar” website can be seen there and then.

What makes me wonder is the “Yo aun puedo bailar” (I still can dance) post it. Maybe Ms. Heed was with PEACE and the other organization? I can vaguely remember that they are supposed to be two different organizations, but I’m not sure.

Oh my gosh, this post. I love the continuity between posts, but that detail from Penumbra makes her one of my favorite characters. “En verdad lo siento” “I’m really sorry” P. Braxton

And what’s with the running joke about pineapples? The sisterhood of UWU has a pineapple as a logo, Ms. Heed has a pen with one, and Black Hat says that pineapples are evil? (He is not wrong, tho, which other fruit eats you while you eat it?)
