The Blacklist Rare Ships Week

 DAY 1: “When I first saw you...”

The GIF above is when I fell in love with Red and Anne’s friendship. The promotion picture for 8.13 is when I fell in love with their romance. The third picture, a screenshot of the promo for 8.13, is what solidified my love for Red/Anne.

Red honestly deserves more happiness, especially after all the work he’s done and all the work he’s doing. I still remember how in 1.09, Red described his wish to have a woman in his arms again. Anne could possibly be that woman! As you can see, I am so so STOKED for 8.13! So stoked!

Red/Anne is literally the best and most genuine ship! They actually formed a connection, and to be honest, I think Anne is a much better fit for Red than any other woman he’s been with. She seems to understand him though she doesn’t even know his criminal past and present, but I can tell she’ll be accepting of him once he reveals who he is (at least, I hope so). The scene where Red stood her up was so sad, especially when Anne started to cry. That scene, in particular, made me feel super heartbroken. Lastly, the fact that the next episode will be Red/Anne-centric is so exciting!

Day 1: “When I First Saw You”

The scene which made you fall in love with your ship/the first scene your favs meet each other.

The very first one. It’s hard to remember exactly what I thought the first time through, but I started watching when S2 was about halfway through airing, and I had heard a rumour that Ryan’s character was more than he appeared. I didn’t know what that meant (I think my earliest theory was actually CIA), but I’m a sucker for badasses in domestic scenes. They’re just so normal here... until  you get to know them. That’s when you see the little things like the way that Tom easily lifts Liz’s badge or that neither of them are at all bothered by the fact that there’s a chopper to pick her up.They’re efficient and in sync with each other. They were a team and worked well together even before the bomb dropped about Tom’s identity.

i had been a passive viewer of the show right up to this point. this is the scene that had me. the second beginning of elizabeth following her heart, and against all odds, it leading her back to the one man she loved. soulmates is what they are.

Day three: Hands All Over

A/N: Ever since seeing a guitar in Ressler’s apartment I have always been convinced that Donald is a blues-guitarist. I’ve never been able to see him differently. Enjoy!

Red keeps a recording of Donald’s guitar playing in his desk.

It’s a silly keepsake, one he has been tempted to trash a few times over. But he can never quite bring himself to do so. How he came about such a keepsake is not exactly a thrilling story, but he does remember it clearly.

Once a long time ago, Red came into the habit of bugging the home of the FBI Agent who was currently assigned to catching him. It was a guilty pleasure. That delicious satisfaction when he could drop events, names and dates of their lives like hand grenades to shake their foundations.

They always took a moment to recover. Sputtering and stuttering to get themselves going again, by which point Red was long gone. He missed those days.

But then Ressler came along. The same routine was followed, a bug slipped into his home where he wouldn’t see it. Activated only when there was activity, or movement nearby and everything was recorded. And Red had picked up excellent facts, good little titbits, to spit out when Donald was in front of him.

But it never shook or rattled him like the others. Donald, sturdy like marble, simply took it on the nose, as if he’d half-way expected Red to know these things.

Needless to say, it sucked the fun right out of it.

He wanted to cut off the bug. Leave it dead and quiet in Donald’s apartment, what’s the point if Red couldn’t have any fun? When next the bug crackled to life over the speak and the recording clicked alive, he had stood to turn it off. No point in listening to the boring life of an Agent when he had better things to do.

“I’m not very good…” you’re at least a decent pain in the ass, Donald.

“Just play already!” He paused, his hand hovering over the volume.

“Alright, alright!” a long breath of silence, then the raspy voice of a guitar started playing over the speaker. At first it was tender, almost timid, as if he was apologizing for playing. But the notes were sweet, a blues tone with a warm resonance. There was no singing, just the soft ship-cha, rhythm carrying through the song. He could so easily imagine Donald’s hands, so quick to punch, shoot or kill, tenderly gripping the neck of his guitar. His other picking the strings with a tenderness he would never see in person. He was surprised to find he wanted to.

The song grew in strength and voice, and when it finally trickled to a stop, Red found himself sitting next to the speaker completely enraptured.

“That was amazing!” Audrey squealed.

“Thanks, it –“ Red cut off the volume, and immediately stopped the recording. He removed the tiny cassette, still more reliable than USB sticks in his opinion, and shoved it in his pocket. Later, when Dembe came home he would ask him to remove the speaker, they had no more use for it.

Years later he still has the cassette, tucked away in the corner of whatever desk he currently owns. He doesn’t listen to it often, but every now and then he slips it into the cassette player, sits back and listens to the raspy notes a blues song. Perfectly imagining Donald’s hands around the neck of his guitar.

I loved them in s5 working together. They could’ve been this badass power couple, ah.

And the fact that it was Samar who sensed something is wrong with Ressler gives me FEEEELS *sobs*.

It’s a deleted scene BUT WHO CARES RIGHT IT WAS WRITTEN AND SHOOT IT’S CANON ALRIGHT. I resent how the writers delivered the aftermath of their hookup in s3,rrrr

Samar and Ress are my ship :D and the fact that Red flirts with Samar all the time paves a way for a threesome EHEEHEH

The Blacklist Rare Ships Week

DAY 5: “Come on closer...”

Let me begin by saying that this is a crossover pairing. I’d also like to say that I ship Reddington and Snape platonically. While I can see Sev getting together with a man, I can’t see that for Red. Besides, friendship is so underrated! It can be stronger than romance at times.

The similarities between Severus and Red are significant. Both of them are broken, damaged men who happen to be close in age (Severus is only a month older than Red, his birthday being January 9th, 1960). They both hide behind masks of confidence, whether it’s negative or positive. They both carry a lot of pain within themselves that they don’t dare share with others. They’re both immensely afraid of being vulnerable. Lastly — and most importantly — they’re both living in a state of purgatory.

They’re both morally gray.

Both of them have done utterly reprehensible things, and yet, they both have a deep sense of humanity. They’d certainly bond over their trauma if they ever met.

The difference between the two is that Red isn’t shy about telling people how he feels. Sev, on the other hand, uses Occlumency to prevent himself from feeling at all. There are moments when Severus’s rage is unleashed, but those are one-offs. That difference could balance out the dynamic quite nicely. Red would definitely be intrigued by the mystery of Severus, and using his abilities with charming small talk, he’d be able to draw a response from Sev.

These two would keep their distance, since I believe that Severus is sensitive to touch. He’s described as being twitchy, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he got a panic attack at the prospect of a hug. Red would have to learn that, though, since touch is literally his love language. But they’d be able to keep their friendship nonetheless, since neither of them are quitters.

A funny thing I’d like to think is that Red would be extremely drawn to Severus’s magic. He would definitely take Sev’s wand and examine it before asking Sev to perform some spells. Red would be absolutely enamored by the spell-casting. He’d be curious to learn about the Wizarding world and how witches and wizards operate.

Here’s an art piece I drew for my crossover fic on Sev and Red, Living in Purgatory. It’s the opening scene of the first chapter, where Red introduces himself in a similar way to how he introduced himself to Anne. If you’d like to read Living in Purgatory, you can find it on FFN and AO3.

FUN FACT: James Spader and Alan Rickman were actually in a film together. The film was Bob Roberts, a political comedy released in 1992. However, Spader and Rickman didn’t share any scenes since Spader’s appearance was a cameo as a news anchor.
