Starwave: shut the fuck up, this can't exist..... it does? Holy fuck- uh well honestly, it seems like y'all just wanna lowkey see Soundwave DO more. Especially in TFP. Take charge and be selfish. She’s taken me out on “sister dates” ever since I was a kid and, for the most part, has always made our relationship a priority. She’s practically perfect tbh, and a few friends have even told me that — one, another ENFP, the other, an INFJ, and I think there were more?? But those were the most recent. I’ve also had several people tell me, almost word for word, “I accidentally spilled my life story to your sister the moment we were alone together and I didn’t mean to, I don’t know why, I just started talking and couldn’t stop.” One, an ISFP, another, an INFJ (same as the one who called her perfect), and again, pretty sure there were more that I’m most definitely forgetting. So, yes, they are practically perfect and wonderful listeners!! Seriously, they’re bundles of soft sunlight and I love them.

Alec's clothes look so much better without the stupid ugly blazer? could do without the high waisted pants (why) but he looks so much better and also more comfortable. again i hope the costume department staff got a big, fat paycheck because the difference we see in him during the wedding vs post-wedding alone is just insane. he looks so much better and more comfortable and more himself, the blazer made him look stiff and again DOESNT MATCH THE REST. also nice touch that the blazer is the only part of his clothing with gold, the sh wedding color. he gets that off and everything looks so much better

Magnus looks even better post wedding too. like the clothing is already *chef's kiss* but he looks even prettier afterwards somehow. the hair is a little softer and he's less stiff as a whole (for obvious reasons), and aaaa hes so beautifulllll he's so prettyyyy look at his perfect soft little hair falling softly over his head and the PINK STREAKS possibly the best Magnus look i said what i said. especially with him all soft and smiley like that i big love him

alec’s little mouthed “what?” at “and all for a downworlder” too. i think part of him was like “wow she’s backing down already?” because you know he expected this to be a lot harder i think lmao. but i also like to think that there’s a side of “mom what the fucking fuck have you seen him he’s gorgeous and kind and smart and amazing and literally the best person i could have fallen in love with but go off i guess”

robert going all “just give her time” like he doesn’t understand what’s happening here at all. he clearly plays the “good cop” in the lightwood’s abusive dynamic tbh, like people often brush him off as being just spineless but i honestly think that he’s just the other side of her manipulative coin. specially with izzy, like, when izzy said fuck it and completely let go of maryse’s hold on her? that’s where robert came in, being the accepting, “nice” parent who listened to her and cared, and making sure she’d keep her loyalties. because he didn’t really stand up for izzy either and in the end he kept her still glued to the lightwood family through that, and kept defending maryse and izzy listened to him because he was robert. and i think that’s what’s happening here too, him trying to frame this as “don’t worry, she’ll come around” because he knows right then that alec is absolutely going to turn their back on them if that’s what it takes for her to be happy so he immediately slides in and reframes this under an affection light where everything will be alright! even if honestly i don’t think that’s what alec is really thinking about at all, i think he was 100% ready for a showdown 

and robert is clearly so disapproving and yikes at the whole thing too but he pretends he isn’t and like lmao

shoutout to their faces when robert asks “are you two in love?” like magnus just turns around like oh hell no we’re not gonna have this conversation and alec lights up for just a second with a small smile before he’s like wait wait no shit shit shit we’ve just met no of course there’s no love (and like... i don’t think there is per se, because i think love is something that takes longer to settle in, specially for alec, but i think the idea that he could talk openly about being in love with a man and even fall fully in love with magnus one day makes him super happy you know?) lmao dorks

I don’t think there are many ships I horribly horribly hate? Like, even some of the squickier characters/relationships, if treated seriously, are interesting to me- I read a really good Dean/Jeff fic once, for example, but normally am not interested in that relationship as anything more than a gag that’s actually deeply gross if you think too hard about it. I moseyed over to AO3, and while there were certainly pairings I wasn’t terribly interested in, nothing jumped out as “Oh, you could not PAY me to read that” category, unlike in certain other fandoms, haha.

I have nothing against age gaps between adult characters in general- I think it often lends an interesting edge and tension to the relationship that can be fun to explore- but Jeff/Annie has everything I DISLIKE about age gaps. Especially at the ages they are in the show- ~19/34 to ~25/40, and with their differences in life experiences and maturity levels emphasized frequently. I don’t violently hate this ship or anything, and I think they have a lot of cute moments on the show, but I think it was a relationship they needed to grow from rather than explore, and I can’t say I’ve ever sought out fic for them. It just squicks me out a tiny bit.

I’m a scream-it-from-the-rooftops Jabed fan and all my other Community ships get a Shirley-voice “That’s nice!” from me when I see them, tbh, lol. I will say I think Troy/Britta is an underrated dynamic and I think you could get some really interesting stories out of playing their characters and relationship straight, rather than for laughs. Despite being such an odd couple at first glance, and Troy being quite mean to Britta at times, they have good chemistry and some very tender moments which I quite appreciated.

They’re just two sides of the same coin- I think Dan Harmon said they were two halves of a functioning brain, the god side and the political side, which is an AMAZING image, and very true. They have very similar coping mechanisms to avoid intimacy and embarrassment, identifying with and performing false selves, but they commit to the act so boldly it warps back around to a kind of authenticity, but then they let their guards down and get tender and vulnerable around each other in a way they rarely do... They have MORE IN COMMON than they have DIFFERENT but they bring out such different sides of each other and I LOVE THEM SO MUCH ;_;

You can, indeed! Sorry that this turned into a Wall-’o-Text, ‘Nonnie. I haven’t thought about this in-depth before, and I got a teeny bit carried away! 😅

OTP A: I’m an absolute sucker for Dakavendish. What can I say? They’re good characters that play off each other really well, and I like that they have a complicated relationship that’s not all sunshine and roses. Still, they can really bring out the best in each other; Dakota encourages Cav to let loose and be more accepting of life, while Cav can coax Dakota into being a more productive and driven person. Excellent banter is also a big plus!

At the same time, I also love Dakota and Cavendish as a BROTP because… well, for one, aside from any potential for romantic love that may or may not exist, there’s definitely platonic love there. Plus, they’d be hilariously awful wing-men for each other. It’d be a disaster, and I love it!

And, let’s face it guys… this is a Disney show, and Disney ain’t exactly known for their willingness to push the boundaries of what the general viewing public is comfortable with. I’m not holding my breath for canon Dakavendish, so I’m pretty okay with the BROTP dynamic as it stands.

OTP B: Milanda! Milanda is definitely my favorite toy ship of the show! Milo, obviously, doesn’t much care to deal with any more chaotic excitement than he has to on the regular, so I can see where he’s coming from when he starts crushing on the no-nonsense paragon of organization that is Amanda.

On the other side of the coin, I’ve really liked watching Amanda develop an appreciation for Milo’s ability to keep calm under pressure, and how he seems to effortlessly manage the absolute chaos that is his life. Seeing Amanda learn by his example to hit the curve-balls life throws at her, instead of losing her head and striking out? Good! Excellent! Fantastic! I love!!!

OTP C: You can blame @drakotts​ for this one, but I got totally suckered into the Scott/Drako rarepair, which is called… Drakotts. You get three guesses as to who coined the ship name, and the first two don’t count.

Why this ship? Glad you asked!

A sun-avoidant vampire (?) would totally love a sun-free, underground environment.

Scott and Drako are both eclectic as all hell, and likely far more open-minded to one another’s oddities than most other people would tend to be.

Scott may not exactly have all his cords plugged into the right sockets, but he’s obvs pretty lonely down there and is covering it up by drawing faces on objects. Regular human (?) interaction would do him good.

Dude, Chad would absolutely lose his pea-pickin’ mind over the sewer mutant / vampire alliance that’s undoubtedly going to take over Danville.

These two side characters just don’t get enough love in general.

BROTP A: Zack and Melissa! Their interactions have always felt really brother-sisterly to me, y’know? They share a sense of humor and they switch places playing the straight man to one-another. Plus, as someone with plenty of their own not-blood siblings, they just really give me that vibe, y’know?

Plus, I’ll be honest, part of this is a personal bias against the ‘Pair the Spares’ trope. Why–when the protagonist gets a significant other from outside the main character group–do the remaining boy and girl a l w a y s have to end up as a couple? Not that the trope is inherently bad, it’s just so damn over-used that I’m bloody sick to death of it.

Let them be sibs from different cribs! Stop devaluing best-friendship by making it always escalate into romance, as if friendship is a just a lower rung on the relationship ladder or something! Sheesh!

(The above frustration is directed at the trope, not the ship–if you ship Zalissa, more power to you! It’s still cute, I’m just salty that it’s probably gonna end up canon because, of course it is. Very original, no-one saw that coming.)

BROTP B: Mort and Bradley are just great together, and it’s a cryin’ shame we don’t get to see ‘em interact more! We usually only get to see Mort and Chad hanging out, and they’re a fun dynamic to watch, but they’re also really alike. Bradley’s a bit of a smug jerk with jealousy and insecurity issues, and Mort is a totally chillaxed, spiritual kid with good empathy skills. They play off each other so, so well! I can smell the character development from here! Dwampy! Pls!

NOTP: Y’know… I don’t actually have any? I don’t actually dislike Zalissa enough for it to be a NOTP, it just kinda bugs me due to personal trope biases. TBH, I haven’t yet seen an MML pairing that I didn’t think ‘Yeah, okay, that’s pretty valid, I could defo see how that would work.’

For the most part, if the ship isn’t, like… obviously morally gross (ex., a person and a non-sapient animal, or an adult/child ship,) I don’t really care. Hell, I saw someone post a Mort/Milo fic on Ao3 the other day and it was really cute! I end up lowkey shipping a lot of things ‘cause of this mindset.

But, all that is kind of a cop-out answer, so… I think the closest I’ve come to a NOTP is Brick and Vinnie. I’m just really ‘meh’ on it, mostly ‘cause we’ve gotten very little canon interaction between the two, and from what we’ve seen so far, I have a hard time seeing the two as compatible at all.

I dunno, if someone writes a good fic for it I may just change my mind. (That being said, I’m really invested in ‘More Than Survive’, which does have Brick/Vinnie, but that’s one-sided and gets nixed as viable in-story, so I don’t count it.)

BACKGROUND.

Rabastan grew up as the youngest of two brothers, the second in line to the throne. The second Lestrange. The backup. The extra, in case the first one broke.

Being the forgotten Lestrange had its perks, though. Rabastan became a golden boy in his own right, growing up in the shadows, with the same access to the riches, the luxury and the reputation that a proper Lestrange deserved. But none of the attention... or the burden of the Lestrange legacy. He was mostly seen as the baby Lestrange, the sweet, sweet boy who behaved like an angel, but wasn’t... all there. Thank god that he’s pretty, right? At least he’ll marry nice.

So maybe Rabastan grew a bit resentful against his parents. Decided that fuck them, I’ll do whatever I want.

But he still remained The Good Son, dutifully attending all his tutor sessions and all his classes. Smiled pretty at his parents’ parties. Was painfully polite to all their guests. Managed to charm the most rugged of dark wizards, weaseled his way in, with that slight smile and those big blue eyes and that weird talent of being scary good at guessing exactly what people wanted to hear. Probably stemmed from him always listening in, ya feel.

Def partly raised by house elves and maids. Was left wondering where his parents were at most of his childhood.

But 100% grew up idolizing his brother!!!!!! Thought he was the greatest thing to happen since sliced bread.

HOGWARTS YEARS.

So homeboy shows up at Hogwarts, and he’s absolutely fucking bursting with rebellion and a wish to do absolutely ANYTHING to fuck with his parents. Maybe.... idk.... to make them notice him for once.....

So what does he do? He pulls a Harry Potter !!!!!!! Asks the sorting hat to place him in any house but Slytherin, which it reluctantly agrees to do. And suddenly he’s sitting at the Hufflepuff table. 

Okay so, he started out as a pretty good Hufflepuff. Really hard working ( eager to prove himself ), very loyal, very modest ( he would get over that one, later. lmao ), so so sweet ( that one too, would not be permanent ) and overall just a good kid!!! 

Arrived at Hogwarts with the good ol’ “Rodolphus Lestrange’s baby brother” label already firmly slapped on him. All teachers compared him to his brother, which was a bitter pill to swallow. Was that all he’d ever be? For how long would he have to chase his older brother’s shadow? Never quite keeping up.

ANYWAYS. His parents weren’t exactly charmed by the fact that Rabastan didn’t follow the Family Tradition™ of ending up in Slytherin. Made for an awkward Christmas dinner, that year. 

Luckily ( or, perhaps, unluckily, for him ), he was quickly forgiven for his faults. The poor boy can’t help that no other house will take him, can he? 

But Rabastan made a life for himself in Hufflepuff. He went home every summer with grades that were almost flawless ( which rewarded him with a quick pat on the shoulder, some brief acceptance, before the family’s attention returned to work and far more important things than the non-heir ). He made friends. Moved in different social circles, quickly becoming a social chameleon, blending in just as well with the Hufflepuff kids as the Slytherin kids. In Hufflepuff, his actions spoke louder for him than his name did. In Slytherin, his name spoke louder for him than his house.

Was a bit of a party boy. Has definitively been found black out drunk in the prefect bathrooms more than once ( how did he get in there, u ask? his dazzling smile : ~ ) what else ! ).

Watched as the Dark Lord slowly rose to power, but never directly involved himself, and was very careful to not mention his own thoughts, instead always steering the conversation towards something else, or back towards the person he spoke to. 

Silently, Rabastan supported Voldemort, though. His agenda was appealing to him, sounded about right. And then there was the influence of his older brother, of course. Everything Rodolphus touched turned to gold, after all.

AFTER HOGWARTS.

Rabastan graduated Hogwarts with good grades, plenty of friends and a growing addiction to alcohol. 

Immediate decision after school was to go into emergency medicine, and he thus became a healer for St Mungos hospital. It was the glory he was after, the status. Helping people? Not really his primary concern.

Has sworn to do no harm wHICH HE DOESN’T!!!! WHILE AT WORK !!!!! What he does outside of work is a different story though. We all have our hobbies, guys!!!!

Started getting kinda tired of being known as the Idiot Lestrange after a while. Especially now that he was a healer. Slowly began dropping the dumb act, it rarely benefited him anymore anyways.

Slowly also became more involved with the Death Eaters, and eventually rose to a high enough position that he could be seen as someone to Count On. Which was all he really wanted, really. Homeboy is attention starved and wants recognition!!!! The Death Eaters fed into that, a lot. 

But anyways, he’s very lowkey about it. Even though his name is kinda sus, I guess? But other than that - Stealth mode.

Currently drinking himself into oblivion, when he’s not working :/

Not super into the whole torturing people thing, but has been assigned a lot of That Kind Of Work anyways (within the Death Eaters), because of his medical background : ~) He will slowly get more into it though, becomes a little bit darker the longer the war goes on. More willing to push past his limits, cross the lines he normally wouldn’t cross. We all know how far he’ll go, in the end.

Has lowkey developed two distinctive personalities over the years - two sides of the same coin that can be flipped as easily as you turn on/off the lights. There’s the good guy, the healer, the smiling pretty boy that knows exactly what to say to get you to take a step closer to the edge, and then there’s the very bad man, who’s drunk, trying to kill you and has forgotten who he is. Which one is the real Rabastan !!!! We don’t know !!!!

Deadass reverts straight back to his Hogwarts self whenever he’s at a family gathering. 

REALLY loves his job !!!! Is good at it too and works really hard !!! Loves the kick of the adrenaline rush when he saves someone, or when someone acknowledges his work.

*　charlie heaton, cis male, he/him, oc　━━　riverdale’s very own HARRISON IRVING is now twenty three years old. they have lived in town for twenty one years, and pop never forgot their regular ━ earl grey tea with milk and sugar. you’ll likely find the car thief/ghoulie around the house of the dead, probably pretending he doesn’t care about anyone but himself. their friends on the southside will tell you all about how they’re pensive, resourceful and charming, but others might describe them as aloof or sarcastic. oh well, no matter how you feel about irving, you can’t deny that they somehow manage to make that huge scar over their right eye look cool.　━━　

so, first thing’s first. irving is one of those people who goes by his last name and 99.9% of the entire population doesn’t even realize that irving...isn’t his first name. only Special People™ are allowed to call him harrison ( or harry as his mom called him ). anyone else does and he’ll Fite but...nobody knows his name is harrison so like. why would you randomly call him that.

anyways. irving was born to an english mother in leeds. who is his father? what happened to him? why has the man literally never been in his life? irving doesn’t know! he does know that his mom moved the two of them out to america when he was about a year old, and then finally settled in riverdale by the time he was two.

he does in fact have an accent. ur welcome. except it’s usually not very pronounced although the more pissed off he is, the british-er he gets lmao. also tends to use british slang words for No Good Reason considering everyone usually needs a minute to figure out what he’s referring to when he says: “trainers” “chips” “queue” “takeaway” “lift” u get it. s/o to his very british mum for all of that.

has lived in the southside since he was two years old and has always been familiar with the ghoulies because his mom has been buying drugs from them for as long as he can remember. she worked tons of jobs all across town over the years in order to support her habit during his childhood. and what did she do to support irving? not much tbh, BUT. irving has always loved her very very dearly.

of course, no one else in riverdale ever seemed to care for the woman at all, but hey. she was a teen mom ( later formerly ) with well - known drug addiction issues and a revolving door of shitty “boyfriends” so. being labelled one of the trashiest women in town was inevitable and there was nothing she could really do about it. people were gonna say whatever they wanted and that was that. she got along just fine anyhow, mostly by shamelessly taking on any jobs, dinners, coins, etc offered to her by townspeople who were honestly just giving her pity handouts. anything so she could afford her drugs, you know?

irving was often left fending for himself out on the streets and since it never killed him ig he did okay? fell in with the ghoulies pretty quickly as a teen attending southside high since he was already familiar with them. they welcomed him into The Squad and they quickly became the family he never had. aw. he’s incredibly loyal to the ghoulies but possible wc! he might’ve had a few serpent / future serpent friends who he left behind upon joining up with the ghoulies.

by then he was already good at breaking into cars, but the ghoulies taught him how to actually steal them and not to brag on him or anything, but these days he’s damn good at it & street racing too! 100% intending to brag on him now — irving here is a really good street racer and everyone knows it. if you’re driving against him then sorry but you’re probably gonna lose. that’s life ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

isn’t a bad fighter either, but generally won’t be the ghoulie who’s starting shit. absolutely will back up his friends though, so...watch out for that

deals in the same drugs as all the other ghoulies and might indulge himself from time to time, mostly for recreational purposes. smokes way too many cigarettes and will light up indoors if he needs a fix. no fucks given.

NOW. TIME TO TALK ABOUT HIS SCAR. it’s located on the right side of his face and spans from forehead to cheek, cuts right through the delicate skin of his eyelid and even damages his actual eye rather severely. if you’re picturing anakin skywalker’s face scar in revenge of the sith then you’re right except irving’s is worse. he has about 40% vision left in his right eye ( probably...ofc he’s never actually had it looked at by a doctor ) which is both good and bad because obviously it’s a pretty blatant vulnerability, but most people tend to assume he’s completely blind in that eye and then they’re in for *seamus finnegan vc* a bit of a nasty shock. as for how he got the scar, it’s...not a v interesting story tbh. he was about 15 - 16, got into it with his mom’s latest boyfriend drunkard & all around garbage human being and the guy p much tried to carve his face off with a broken beer bottle. yikes

oh, about his mom. she’s dead now. overdosed to the surprise of absolutely no one. irving was eighteen at the time and actually was the one to find her on their living room couch. naturally he was Sad™ but in this house we absolutely do not properly express our emotions

and now we’re in the present. these days you’ll most likely irving hanging with the other ghoulies, boosting cars either for them or for cash, winning street races, possibly reading a book or two or fifty

most people’s first impression of him is probably that he’s aloof. doesn’t even talk much around other ghoulies, but won’t hesitate if he’s got something to say. something usually being a sarcastic remark.

about the library, btw. if he’s not hanging with the other ghoulies then he’s probably there, lowkey skulking around the shelves. his mom started taking him every once in a while as a kid, figuring that letting him check out a bunch of books would keep him occupied for a while and it did. he’s LOVED to read ever since & can often be found with his nose in a book. actually loves to talk about his favorite books, but rarely gets the chance. aw.

known for being a particularly vicious and resourceful fighter. good with knives and guns, but the main thing you’ve gotta watch out for with him is the fact that HE WILL FUCKING BITE YOU WTF. like. blood running down his chin & everything. horrifying, truly.

The TN pairing we deserved. Like, we’ve talked about that “Still doing Taylor’s dirty work?” for ages and you did such a good job discussing it in your answer, but it’s just....SO IMPORTANT. Especially given that we get so little of a personal life for either of them. Like, Mira does NOT like Wash’s position with Taylor and obviously thinks she could do better. I know what the writers probably were going for (bitchy comment by female rival, probably out of jealousy) but....it didn’t work, especially because the look on Mira’s face is rather...irritated? Tired? Pissed? Like, this is not just a casual comment. Mira thinks Wash could do better than Taylor, and if she ever decided to leave Taylor for the Sixers, they would be a damn good power couple. And then that Wash does know exactly where Mira’s old quarters are....like, I’m sure Wash knows where everyone on the colony is, but you can’t tell me they didn’t bang in that house. (Which would have made it more painful when the Shannons moved in because it was one more reminder that she’s Gone and things are never going back to normal.) And, really, we don’t really get how much of a personal BETRAYAL what the Sixers did was, even though you know that personal bonds would have formed. Like, for me, they missed out on a lot of potential by not deepening this bond (and instead giving us an Unfortunate Taylor Bondage Ep), not just as far as giving both of them development, but also on a broader level as far as increasing the emotional stakes (and giving you more vid editing potential because I NEED THAT GAY SHIT IN MY LIFE). 

Ronan/Laz 

Definitely not the ship that I jumped onto 1789 for, but definitely the one that I stayed on it for. I think it’s very versatile, as far as the number of dynamics that you can work with, and the fact that both pairs (Matthieu Carnot/Louis Delort and Ryuu Masaki/Seijou Kaito) had better chemistry with each other than Olympe certainly helped. Obviously, it’s an inherently unequal pairing on multiple levels; I don’t hold any ill will towards anyone who ships it as such, but personally I find it more fun to reverse it so that Laz is a total gay mess who is totally whipped by his boyfriend even though neither party really notices. Personally, I think if we’re going to have Laz represent “the order and rigidity of the Ancien Regime” and Ronan representing the common man’s hopes for the Revolution, there has to be a point where they meet up and reconcile, given that, historically, there did come a point where both sides were pretty damned burned out. (Which is why I go SO HARD for the French version having them embrace each other at the finale, though I’m also enough of a slut for angst that Zuka!Laz turning his back on Ronan at the end also owns my soul.) 

And, in both the versions that are currently available (I’m steeling myself for the Toho with the knowledge that we’re going to get a much more...aggressive Laz this time around), there are so many queerbaiting signs that there’s...something that extends past hatred. Like, you’ve got French!Laz SWITCHING THE FUCKING “YOU”S DURING MANIAQUE (Going from over politeness to an extent that really would NOT be necessary with a man so below his station to using the informal “you”....after the half-naked homo-erotic dance number. Gee, I wonder what they could have done to merit the switch), you’ve got Laz jealously lingering in the background during La Rue Nous Appartient, you’ve got Olympe’s nightmare having the words “Monsieur de Peyrol, he’s yours now. Do whatever you wish with him” (Which....Olympe knows.) And...again....the FUCKING HUG DURING POUR LA PEINE. And this is post-Father Killing, not including the Almost Kiss. And then the Zuka version just.....ramps it up. From the entirety of Maniaque to Laz IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS trying to get Ronan away from the Revolutionaries, to Ronan actually calling out his friends the next time he sees them (if he really hated Peyrol that much, why the Hell would he give a damn what he thought about his friends, AKA the people who gave him a job when he staggered into the print shop?), the way Laz steps up from behind Ronan when he talks about “being able to make the ones we love happy,” and then...the finale, where Ronan gets shot in the cross-fire, Laz IMMEDIATELY gives the Bastille up, and Ronan reaches out to him before falling on the ground. And that’s not even touching on things that can be strung together like The Coat Theory. 

Basically, they banged on the printing press. It’s canon. And Ronan wanted to save his boyfriend and his boyfriend wanted to save him but, at some point, they just...barely missed one another. It’s so nice they end up in the Cretaceous together. 

Solene/Olympe

Still a very odd ship for me, because it’s so damn hard to work with what we’ve got in canon and keep a continuity going. I ship it to Hell and back, since it gives me an opportunity to work with two characters who never got the chance to meet up, as well as really touch on a lot of things that we never really got in canon. (Also, I’ve lowkey considered doing a straight-up self-indulgent role reversal where Solene is arrested and sent to the Bastille, where she meets up with Olympe, who is following in her father’s footsteps.) In many ways, I think they do work as a more functional version of L/R, having to make many of the same decisions and choices (though I’d argue that Solene parallels Laz more than her own brother and, in some ways, Olympe mirrors Ronan.) In many ways, I can’t really...conceive of writing one without the other, in the sense that I think they’re very much two sides of the same coin? I don’t know; one day I’ll actually type out how these two ships mirror and contrast one another, but suffice it to say I do try to tie the two of them together SOME WAY even if it’s not always exactly...clear to me. Solene has definitely gone through some hard knocks, and it’s a lot more obvious in the way she carries herself and goes about relationships, whereas Olympe has never really taken a fall like that. She’s obviously experienced pain (especially post-canon), but she’s still had a somewhat rose-tinted childhood, with a loving, middle-class aristocratic family deeply entrenched in Enlightenment ideals. I think in some ways that it’d be hard for Solene to really trust Olympe in a relationship, given how many people she’s loved have betrayed her. (Personally, one thing I really try damn hard to do is to build them up so that, if and when Solene decides to leave her profession to be with Olympe, it’s not so much “Let me take you away from this” cliche for sex work and more...Solene weighing her possible decisions based off of where she is and taking a risk.)

It’s a bit hard because I tend to write them a bit more....pure than I usually like writing, in the sense that so much of their dynamic comes from healing one another. Which is good (obviously, it’s more the relationship ideal that you want to aspire to IRL) but also is very odd to me. Like, with Ronan and Peyrol, I tend to write them as helping one another as well, but they also have so much baggage to get through whereas Olympe and Solene don’t...have that, as much. There are differences, obviously, but it isn’t AS WIDE as I’m used to dealing with. One thing that’s going to be interesting with Pour la Peine is dealing with some of the political differences between the two of them, though I know that tbh it’s not going to last. 

Ivanova/Talia

Obviously, I’m still fairly new to B5, but there is SO MUCH tension here and I really, really appreciate that they’ve built it up like an actual RELATIONSHIP? Complete with fighting over PsiCorps, THE WATER SCENE, etc. Like, it isn’t an insta-love situation, it isn’t just SOFT GIRLS IN LOVE, it has a lot of...weight given to it, and the dynamic isn’t something we get all that much with WLW TO THIS DAY in media. Like, I know that referencing the DS9/B5 Schism is a dangerous game (I love both dearly, so when I speak, I speak as a fan of both), but compared to the cop-out they did with Dax, where we got a kiss, the relationship being due to Dax being (heterosexually) married to the host in another life, and then the love interest being shuttled off, not to be seen again because of a Trill law there was NO sign of in TNG, this feels like a more solid relationship as a whole, even with the knowledge of...what’s going to happen. It wasn’t something that was done lightly or as a stunt, it was a relationship built from the ground up. Which SHOULDN’T be praise in the Year of Our Lord 2018, but here we are. I’m fully expecting this ship to crush my soul. 

Demona/Elisa Maza

Outstanding chemistry in the battle scenes we got, a lot of potential, though it’d be hard to work it into a complete arc with how DEEPLY entrenched Demona’s anti-human attitude is. It would take a long, long arc to do something like that, but goddamit Gargoyles I WANTED it. Also, so much of Demona’s attitude, aside from her own unwillingness to take blame, comes from this sort of need to pull the trigger before someone else betrays her, so it’d be interesting to see how that dynamic would work in a relationship. Like, we got a hint of it with the Thailog/Macbeth situation, where she showed that she STILL could be trusting in a relationship, but Thailog is...odd in the sense that he’s a clone of her ex. Being with someone else, especially a human post-Macbeth...that would be interesting for her. And we do have Weisman saying that Elisa, “also proves or rather disproves Demona's theory that all humans are evil destroyers of the Gargoyle race. Demona's semi-fragile -- or at least ultra-calcified -- psyche can abide that thought.” Obviously, he’s using it to explain why Demona HATES Elisa so much, but...hatred’s a funny thing, and no matter what, Elisa does challenge Demona’s point of view. (Which...again, the last time we really saw that was with Macbeth, which, even though it’s not a ship of mine, still has a lot of romantic tension. And she has the same level of absolutely blinding hatred for him that she has for Elisa. My girl’s even worse than me at dealing with this sort of thing.)

I do like that this is a good, solid enemies to lovers type of ship (or, alternatively, just hatefucking), which is SO RARE to get solid examples of in femslash. And, on many levels, Elisa and Demona are really toe for toe. There wouldn’t really be one of them that’s “weaker” or “more innocent” than the other, and I think Elisa could give as well as she could take, which...being with someone like Demona, would have to be a necessity, and I think that’d extend as well into calling her out on her shit. (We’ve seen repeatedly that she’s not afraid to call Goliath out openly, even in front of the Clan.) Basically, I think it’d be a long arc, it’d be tricky to pull off with anything more than just hatefucking, especially given how often Demona does hurt people around Elisa (with a body count post-City of Stone that at least ranges into dozens of people smashed in a non-fun way), but I think it’d be a fascinating one. And even though I like Goliath, obviously, I never really felt the chemistry between him and Elisa (I know, I know, fandom heresy), and I think Demona/Elisa could yield a LOT more. (Pls Greg Weisman don’t kill me.)

Trigger Warning. Sharing unpopular opinion

I’ve been taught that the ultimate happiness for a woman is to marry, take care of her husband and have children. It’s what men like and that these "business women" will die alone, unhappy and with nobody wanting to marry them. (and no, I live in the west)

And however much I’d like to disagree with my dad’s words, I learned the hard way that it’s true. I’ve lived long enough to realise it.

Men look for weaker, softer women to use as replacement for mothers. To support them emotionally, to tell them to study, to cook them delicious meals as if they were pampered little boys again. They are scared of “masculine” career women.

And I am not a salty “career woman”. I’m actually that constantly used cancer “mom” figure. And I’ve seen how these kind of relationships play out. You’re living for him. And he’ll see if he’ll have some time left for you. But you don’t fkn care, because you love him, so you give your whole existence to him just because you’re this soft and selfless cancer. And it seems like you’re happy until they get bored and don’t appreciate the things you do anymore. It becomes “the norm” to cook for them, clean the rooms, give them massages, listen to all their troubles and pamper them with compliments. And you’re left with nothing but hurt as you gave all your time to them but they were doing something “bigger” with their lives and now you’re simply not enough. Such a one-sided relationship.

And when I played the stronger woman’s role I got bashed for being too masculine, not loving him enough and if I really need a relationship if I spend so much time studying and working. I would get constantly compared to other girlfriends and how “better at the girlfriend thing” they were.

So sorry for being biased, But it hurts. I want strong women to be wanted and I want equality in relationships. A girl should not be a stepping stone to a guy's success and she should not be just a warm fireplace to come back to after work. Please girls, don’t sacrifice all of yourself to a guy, no matter how much you care for him. To some people it’s easy to be egoistic but others are natural givers and find it very difficult to not live for others.

Again, I’m generalising a lot because I’m talking about the majority, I know there are guys who like independent women, but think of all your friends who are married. I’m almost sure most of them are soft and caring. Guys prefer career women for casual dating.

Sorry that my emotions show through in my posts. I’ll be reviewing all of my analysis in the upcoming week to fix the typos, wording, add some newly learned things and will try to remove any unnecessary sensitive comments I made. Even though this started out as a pretty personal blog, this should be an astrology blog, not a diary and I get it.

EDIT: So I just wanted to share a story an anonnie just sent. We can all learn from it tbh.

–I just wanted to share this with people who don’t understand. But I wanted to say that I understand your pain. I saw how my mother had to give up every single of her dreams so my father could become a musician –he was, and still is, in a rock band here in our country which is pretty famous if you’re into the world of rock and punk; but that was because of the hours and hours he spent. Music was his passion, and that’s what enamoured and killed my mother at the same time –not literally, but mentally. She was young, 25, when she married him, and after two years of marriage I was born. She had to watch how the man he married wasn’t there the day his daughter was born bc he had a concert, how even if parents are supposed to love their children the most, he still rejected me in order to improve in music, how even if I had a 40ºC fever, he would still go to practice, letting my mother all alone –everyday, at home. He got out of the house at 9 in the morning and returned, at least at 11 pm. I know my father loved me and my mother, but, we both knew that his one and only true love was music –he’s career, and year by year that made my mom sink more and more into depression.

She doesn’t love him anymore –not in the way she loved him when she said the ‘I do’, but somehow she still loves him and stays by his side. I watched my mom sacrifice everything she had for a man that didn’t even look at her twice before disappearing when she needed him the most; and what really pains me it’s knowing that somehow, when I marry someone, I’ll end up being as miserable as my mother.

If this isn’t the most heartbreaking story I’ve heard I don’t know what is. We all romanticize idols but here’s the other side of the coin... Honestly, your mom is a hero, I wish to be such a strong woman to hold the family together even through the toughest moments.

And cupcake, we will not suffer the same pains! We learned the lesson! I just wish girls wouldn’t fall for the “guys want this kind of girl so I gotta become her to be liked” and end up ruining their lives.

Love 365: When Destiny Comes Knocking – Review

For iPhone/Android. $3.99 (400 coins) a route. In Demand route is free until 11/27. A very charming game that is set in a similar, social media based, world as ‘Liar! Uncover the Truth’. If anyone who hasn’t played is curious about what the In Demand route is, it’s basically a ten chapter long prologue that allows you to get a feel of each guy and even choose to go on dates with them. In my run through of it, I chose to focus on the silent man who is Seiya Fushimi -- aka Anderson70, an Upgram (instagram) famous food blogger.

Overall, the game didn’t disappoint and had me interested all the way through. Admittedly, of the two routes currently out, Nozomu did not interest me and I’ll be getting Rheo’s only for now; but the game is worth paying $3.99 for the guy you like. While you COULD pay $1 for a single chapter ticket like most free/party otome games, you can also just pay the regular $3.99 for a whole route and I’m extremely glad to see Voltage incorporate that instead of being greedy.

Starting off with our MC, she is a tour planner and a several time MVP at her job. She’s extremely competent in her work, not something usually seen in otome apps, but there’s a catch to it all...Planning romantic tours for couples is definitely not her forte. That makes her current situation quite terrible, as she’s assigned to plan a couple’s trip based on a popular romantic drama. Not only that, but she’s currently feeling the affects of her love life’s dry spell and is wishing for a man BADLY. So badly that she prays at a shrine near her apartment. The timing seems just right, as suddenly several men seem to be vying for her attention soon after, and she wonders if her prayers have been answered. Now, she’s juggling five guys that are interested in her.

My overall impression of the MC is average. At first, I regarded her as slightly above average since she’s quite good at her job and doesn’t seem like too much of a push over. Then again, the men don’t provoke her enough to reasonably get angry. She can also take a jab at herself pretty well, being quite lighthearted. More than being a pushover, I regard her as more conscious of how long she’s been out of the dating game -- which is five years. It’s understandable. However, what brought her down to just average was -- small spoiler -- the fact that she gets a fever and goes into a full on depression about how there’s no one to take care of her. She went on a long monologue about how, if she had a boyfriend, then he could take care of her and how she’s going to die alone. This happened in the span of hours, not even a day. It was very pitiful to see a grown woman unable to take care of herself and need a man for such a menial occurrence. It was just a ‘holy shit this is sad’ moment.

Honestly, I’ve come to accept that there’ll always been either all of the same archetypes in Voltage games or most of them, but I was pleasantly surprised here. Although you can dispute that the arrogant type is Nozomu and the flirty/narcissistic one is Rheo, I considered the others their own people. Yes, there is often the silent type, which can be found in Seiyu, but the eye-catching thing about Seiyu is that he could possibly be mute -- a trait that I haven’t yet seen written in otome games. Because of that, I truly want to see his romance play out and, if he is mute, how that can be dealt with. Wataru could be the puppy love interest, yes, but he had an edge to him around certain people that would leave one curious. Also, how often do we even really get the puppy love -- genuine puppy love -- interest? Not often.

And, Shintaro was quite his own man with his quirky personality and Kansai-dialect (I believe it was Kansai, too lazy to check) that makes him seem country in speech. He is the MC’s encouraging, senior, co-worker that’s always willing to give her a helping hand. Though he’s her superior, you’d think the two of them have been friends forever with the way they get along. There’s no awkward senpai/kohai line between them and it’s cute.

The last thing that I wanted to address was the games social media system that I’ve seen compared to ‘Liar! Uncover The Truth’. Actually, you don’t get to use the MC’s phone at all like you could in Liar. There is a mini-game like Liar, however, in which you can either ‘hold back’ or ‘press forward’ by tapping on a moving heart. Tap on the ‘hold back’ side of the heart to have the MC be hesitant with love interests/wait for them to make the first move or tap the ‘press forward’ side to go for the kill and have her make the first move. Depending on the situation, you’ll get closer to the ‘super happy end’ of a route, I’m guessing.

You will also get graded by the end of the In Demand route based on your choices and how well in love you did. I consider my play through quite aggressive, as I had the MC agree to go on a date or flirt with any guy that came her way (lol). By the end, my grade was 100%, so I assume that’s what the game wants you to do -- be aggressive. However, I might have pressed ‘hold back’ on the first moving heart game, I can’t remember.

All in all, this is a very fun game; especially if you had fun and liked the character art in ‘Liar! Uncover The Truth’. It’s not similar to Liar, aside from social media and the mini game, but it’s from a similar world. For just $3.99 a route and the In Demand route being totally free until the 27th, I’d say it’s worth at least trying the latter. Despite Rheo not being my first choice and Nozomu not being my type, I’m at least planning on buying Rheo’s route!

usually there’s at least one or two (or three) guys that are unbearably rude. however, none of them seemed to be awfully mean and that’s a shock for a voltage game tbh.

if you’re a lowkey narcissist like me, you’ll love a bunch of men vying for your attention. at least in this game they actually mean it.

an mc that’s actually good at her job with a minor flaw, being terrible at couples tours.

voltage gives you the chance to test out all of the characters in the long, choice based, route that is the ‘in demand’ route. for free!

they didn’t pull the lovestruck crap and span out stories into ‘seasons’ and make us spend money on incomplete stories.

whole routes will still cost you only $3.99 (if buying three or more, i suggest getting the vip package instead)

- EPISODE 8 IS BY FAR THE BEST EPISODE OF THIS SERIES PERIOD I CAN’T 

- Keith’s development in this season was nothing short of spectacular, but the ending result was underwhelming

- I was expecting a Galra Keith scene similar to masthya’s comic about acceptance and looking over the negatives. It would have been so refreshing, it was almost like Hunk was slightly scared of Keith after the sudden realization, once again underwhelming

- KEITH’S DAD HAS A SOUTHERN ACCENT I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT HOLD ME my roommates were staring at me ‘cause I had my hand over my mouth the entire time COUNTRY KEITH GROWING UP WITH AN ACCENT AND LOSING IT ONCE HE ENROLLS IN THE GARRISON 

- I felt like they set up that galra pilot for nothing so I hope they come back (mother?)

- Lance’s insecurities were very keenly hidden leading up to beta traz and I feel so bad for him because he deserves to know how important he is and how he is valued

- Hunk remains the favorite throughout the paladins and the fandom (the gif goes for all the paladins but especially Hunk and Lance)

- I had personally never heard the theory about Haggar being Altean and I’m here for it. I think it adds to it, since there are Good Galra there should be bad Alteans

- I feel like the remarks about sexuality were more focused towards future seasons rather than season 2 ‘cause it’s obvious they are building up more back stories as we go. I thought this before i even watched season 2 and honestly, I feel like it will flow better whenever it does get brought up. I think it’s better to wait for important topics like that to be introduced rather than to shoehorn them in and make them feel forced for the sake of doing it. Looking forward to it.
