One of my favorite parts about the writing of Howl's Moving Castle is how easy it is to write off all the things from our world at first as him just being a weird wizard™ (also thanks to bestie @jutenium for spotting this I wouldn't put it like that without you!!/pos). Sure, Sophie uses weird descriptions, but readers have every reason to believe them because of the way Howl is presented as a character. When Sophie says he wrote with a quill that doesn't need an ink, you wouldn't think it was actually a ballpoint pen, you would think Howl had just enchanted his quill so that it wouldn't need ink! When she adds that she can't make out a single word, you think he has matchingly terrible handwriting, but in fact Sophie has simply never seen a pen writing. When she sees the mysterious labels on his books, you think he's keeping a lot of obscure magical literature, but it's really just an encyclopedia and a guide like "Top 10 Rugby Tips." When Sophie notices the bottles in Howl's bathtub, you think they're some kind of magical jars where he keeps girl's hearts, but I'm almost certain that they're just 'Dove' and 'Head and Shoulders' that he's enhanced with his spells and put silly labels on. When you read Calicifer singing a song in a language Sophie doesn't understand, you think it's some kind of ancient cipher or code, but it's actually just a rugby song in Welsh that Howl sings when he's drunk. And finally, when you see the terrifying black door, which is completely shrouded in darkness, you imagine a passage to an eerie, mythical place, similar to what Miyazaki showed us - but it's just fucking Wales.

My actual only request and probably unpopular opinion for season 3 is that they tone down the color grading. I think season 1 looked a lot better. Season 2 was way to saturated. Crowley’s skin looked orange.

qrow says that no one wanted him bc he was cursed so realistically there's a non-zero chance that the tribe would have tried to get rid of him, multiple times even, each attempt foiled thanks to raven's semblance, right?

so realistically there's a perfectly good chance that at some point during strq's beacon years, before there has been time for an actual trust to be built between them, qrow could have gotten seriously injured on a mission and despite summer's and / or tai's suggestions of raven running ahead to the nearest town and open a portal there to get qrow help as fast as possible, raven absolutely refuses to leave his side bc that's exactly the kind of situation the tribe would have used as an opportunity to get rid of qrow and there's no chance in hell she's going to take that risk here either, no matter how goody two shoes her new teammates may be.

Imagine making your serious, stoic f/o laugh. Maybe it was intentional, a joke you told them to get a reaction out of them. Or maybe it wasn't, and you just got a little bit too clumsy in front of them. Either way, you're surprised when you see their lips slightly curving up. Your f/o looks away and coughs, or rather, they act as if they were coughing, but soon enough they can't contain their laughter any longer. It's as if their cold facade had melted away for a moment.

I was scanning YE3 for a particular frame, only to find more elements to add to my traffic light / color / blood and fire theories (these three work on the same principle, just at different angles)

I think I finally know what yellow means, as well as what role Xia Fei plays in all this. Just give me a few days to consolidate my thoughts

bunch of recent crowley studies + a few doodles from memory; sorting my wing ref folder made me wanna practice some less common poses/angles... so of course they all became God's Favourite Demon™. because he lives in my brain and hands and demands to be released

(listen I know that the wings are meant to be metaphysical/spiritual/etc,, but also. monsterpeople with realistic proportions doing natural sorts of movement will never not be fun lol)
