if my ocs had theme songs pt 1
Tarou - Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now by The Smiths
everyone would assume that since he's famous and fabulously wealthy he's pretty happy! but due to that fame, Tarou is seen as untouchable and his father's put so much pressure on him to find "the perfect girl" that he's scared to pursue love once he does find it, even though it's the one thing he really wants
Hanako - Nobody Makes Sense by Pinocchio-P
Hanako has a really hard time relating to the people around them due to being raised in London's East End and suddenly being surrounded by rich and important people. they've all but lost sight of why they love life, but then Leo shows up and reminds them how beautiful the world is, even if people rarely make any sense to them
Hajime - Odo by Ado
Hajime regularly participates in prizefighting, and honestly enjoys it, even if he gets hurt quite a bit. his fighting prowess has led to him becoming quite a bit arrogant and just a little rude, however. he recognized it was happening and tried to change it, but he couldn't break it for a very long time
Leo - Kimi Wa Dekinai Ko (You Are A Useless Child) by Kikuo
as a child, Leo had a very hard time communicating his needs with his parents and teachers, leading them to assume that he's incapable and stupid. really, he's very bright and creative, with clothing design coming naturally to him. finally, after seeing just what Leo can do, people are realizing they had him all wrong; they just refused to listen to him.

Mutual, I'm lowkey obsessing over your tags about akatsuki Tsunade, can you elaborate more the basic timeline? Like how this would affect Tsunade's arc in classic and such
tbh i hadn't really thought about it lol
but.... let's say it happens during the search for tsunade arc? orochimaru and jiraiya are both gunning to get her on their side but you know what? the shark man said please. get your shit shizune we're going with these guys if you poison the little red-eyed shit on the way no judgement (kisame: maybe don't though?)
jiraiya is pissed, orochimaru is torn between being amused bc wow and being in agonizing pain bc his arms still don't work, naruto keeps trying to get her to come heal lee (and now sasuke) but she's having none of it so she just throws a file of miscellaneous notes at his head and tells him "find someone with good chakra control and pray" (sakura: omg i have good chakra control!!!!)
weirdly the member of team seven affected most by this is sasuke bc sakura has absolutely no fucking clue what she's doing at first and it takes her like an extra month to wake him up, so he needs to get back on his feet before he can decide if he wants to run off to orochimaru or not. lee is.... kinda sol, frankly. sakura works really really hard to help him out, and she's eventually able to get him to a place where he can do a few things, but by the time she's good enough to really be able to help him it's way too late. fortunately he's adapted somewhat, and being lee he's surpassed what anyone thought he'd be able to, but he's never going to be what he could've been. gaara feels terrible about this ofc but lee isn't the sort to really hold a grudge, even if pretty much everyone agrees he'd be perfectly justified in doing so. gai never forgives tsunade, though, not really.
concerning tsunade's role in the akatsuki.... the thing is, it's her own grandparents who started the whole jinchuuriki mess. and she's seen with her own two eyes what konoha did to places like amegakure; she was part of it. she doesn't like that the jinchuuriki die post extraction, so she starts looking into how to make that not happen, but if she does succeed, it isn't until after the gaara debacle, so chiyo still dies. her biggest motivation here is naruto - she doesn't agree with him, but he reminds her of nawaki, so she really doesn't want him to die if at all avoidable. she doesn't get too involved in the actual jinchuuriki capturing process tho; she's more useful patching people up after.
having said that, she doesn't fully agree with pain and konan's plan, she just can't really think of anything better. tobi tells sasuke about itachi while tsunade is patching him up, and since it's her family that led to this, she's pretty on-board with the whole "fuck this stupid baka village" thing (ofc she's been heading down that path since joining the akatsuki, so this isn't like canon!tsunade suddenly making this call; there's a couple years of character development first), so.... she's effectively on team sasuke at this point, and once he splits from the akatsuki she does as well.
iirc, post danzou, sasuke spent about eight and a half volumes just kinda adjusting mostly offscreen to his recent ert (eyeball replacement therapy), before skewering og white zetsu and fucking off to go accidentally reunite with zombitachi, but aside from decking itachi through a few trees on sight, idk how much about all that would change. immediately after, when sasuke brings back orochimaru, they have an awkward reunion, followed by yet another awkward reunion when orochimaru brings back the four dead hokage. she's both very happy to see her granddad again, but it's hard for her to tell him (and hiruzen, for that matter) that she deserted the village completely, even if she doesn't regret her decision.
now you may be wondering: weren't shizune and tonton also around? yes! but when sasuke went after danzou, they stayed behind, leading to shizune finding and managing to save konan after tobito killed her. there's a potential romance subplot there as well but i accidentally ruined it for myself by saying aloud "two girls one pig" and then regretting my whole life.
the other survival is jiraiya; he becomes hokage instead since it's either one of the sannin or one of the elders, and as much as he doesn't want the job, he really doesn't want them to have it. this in part means he can't go spying in ame himself, although he very nearly does after orochimaru's death gets reported, but instead he sends someone else. that person dies, but manages to get the information back to him (it has to be someone important to naruto, and it can't be kakashi, so maybe iruka? but idk how he'd be in espionage. maybe one of naruto's classmates did spy training offscreen? it's entirely possible with jiraiya as hokage instead of tsunade but idk). since jiraiya isn't a healer, he'd either need to be injured badly enough for danzou to be able to step in without him being able to object, or sasuke would just need to have his fight with danzou somewhere else (so the raikage's arm might survive also).
the final thing is that, unlike in canon, this version of tsunade never got naruto therapy'd, so while she does eventually get over the hemophilia somehow (maybe just existing in the relative vicinity of hidan did the trick), she never really dealt with the grief that caused her to leave konoha in the first place, so that's still very much there. however, i think maybe this could work to the story's advantage - instead of just naruto vs sasuke, it could be naruto and sakura vs sasuke and tsunade. tho in this instance sasuke really isn't alone, and isn't really trying to be by that point. it's more a battle of "do we try to fix the system from within, or do we really need to start from scratch for things to improve in any meaningful way", but ultimately the winner is the realization that four people from konoha not only shouldn't but honestly can't be the only ones making this call. if the world is going to move forward, it can't be dragged by a single person, or even two people. it's gotta be a group effort. idk if the story should go into the details of what they decide on, bc i'm definitely not politically savvy enough for something like that, or just have an open ending leaving whatever happens next up to interpretation.
(sorry this took so long lol i kept having to do things XD)

At what age do you think Sasori would ha e been too far gone? I'm working on a fanic idea that deviates from canon around the time the Land of This gets destroyed by the art duo. I'm guessing that must have happened when he was in his mid-twenties(?) Would it be too late then to pull off something like that realistically?
Tumblr media
First of all thank you for being interested in what I have to say I am very touched <3 Sorry this is going to be rambly again also I'm replying very late because I didn't see it my bad
In short: Can't really see a substantial change of character the same way I can't see it for Orochimaru. Despite what Shit Tierrot wants us to believe, patching Tsunade back together does not undo all the horrific shit he did before and afterwards.
Long:
Ok so I guess to establish a timeline here I'm assuming Deidara would be older in your AU? Because he was forced into the Akatsuki when he was around 13 and Sasori had already been 29 by that time. Deidara and Sasori have not been canonically active before we actually get introduced to them in the KKR arc, even if it's canonically implied Sasori took over an entire country at some point in his life, the country in question probably being some small ass city state like the anime concludes, while Deidara had apparently been in contact with two other jinchuuriki. You can be pretty flexible for those 6 years in your fic because some of it even takes place before Naruto canonically kicks off.
I guess I don't really talk about Sasori's crimes because I take them for granted when I say he's canonically not really redeemable, but if we take the age Deidara joined (13) and the age Sasori (15-16ish) joined, who was his partner in crime for give or take 12-14 years? Orochimaru, who I consider to be equally not really redeemable. Why? Because they essentially are both guilty of the same crimes (against humanity). Orochimaru is an easy villain to hate RIGHTFULLY BTW because we actually see what he does, whereas it's only implied for Sasori.
Let's be real here: Both of them spent most of their time on this earth trafficking, torturing, experimenting on and murdering people regardless of affiliation. For every successful human puppet transformation, you probably had plenty of failed ones, and that is just one aspect of the probably hundreds of thousands of deaths this dude has caused directly and indirectly through the people he additionally tortured and brainwashed into doing his bidding.
12-14 years is a pretty consistent time window of two mass murders, human traffickers and mutilation enjoyers being consistently exposed to each other. If we thought what Sasori did as a whee 15 year old burning down villages to look for scraps and killing his Kage was bad, then him having pretty much unfiltered access to the stuff mentioned for absolutely no reason but self satisfaction is bound to make me think he would not be the type to start valuing humanity on a whim, unless he had no self consciousness. The OVA implies he didn't like Orochimaru from the jump, but I never thought it was because of Orochimaru's actions, probably just because he knew Orochimaru was the traitor type. He clearly had not stopped doing what he did even after Orochimaru left, up until he ultimately GAINS self consciousness through the fight against Chiyo and Sakura and immeditately unalives himself. So, by the time he meets Deidara, he would already been way too far gone tbh.
We didn't see a transformation when he was around Deidara, and we obviously didn't see a transformation when he was around Orochimaru. His entire stint in the Akatsuki surely did not improve his character in the slightest, so for me personally, I would find it very hard to redeem him with everything above kept in mind, especially since I and many others believe Orochimaru should also not be redeemed for the same reasons.
to conclude your question on how a redemption could still work:

For the meme, Venti, Zhongli, Ei, and Nahida. Archon squad let's goooo
I'll do my best.
Venti
Sexuality Headcanon: Who even knows. Does wind have sex? Does he still think about sex the way a wind spirit would? Did he just adopt his bard friend's sexuality as his own and move on? We just don't know. Gender Headcanon: Pretty sure that if Venti ever thinks about gender it's only to think up ways he can make it as chaotic and unorthodox as possible, because Something Something Freedom, amirite? A ship I have with said character: Venti/Xiao is pretty cute. Just the mental image of him going out of his way to play in a place where Xiao can hear it. For no reason other than to bring some peace to his soul ;o; A BROTP I have with said character: [shrug] The previous image does work just as well as a brotp. A NOTP I have with said character: [shrug] A random headcanon: Not a headcanon exactly (I... don't have many headcanons for Venti) but I've always wondered just how much Venti knows about why Kaeya is in Mondstadt, where Kaeya is from, and/or anything about his family slash the group that sent him (if different from the Abyss Order). General Opinion over said character: I'm gonna be honest, Venti is fine and all but I have always had basically zero interest in him as a character, oops.
Zhongli
Sexuality Headcanon: I am wide open. Willing to go with absolutely anything. Heck, maybe he's switched over the millenia. Gender Headcanon: I tend to go along with the fanon that he's been other genders before and just goes with what he feels like when he mingles with the humans. A ship I have with said character: I'm very fond of Zhongli/Childe, as I think most of my friends know. Zhongli/Venti can also be very fun. Haven't given a lot of thought to anything else. A BROTP I have with said character: Zhongli and Childe is way up there as a brotp I love. I also vastly prefer Zhongli & Guizhong as a platonic lifepartner ruling pair rather than a couple. A NOTP I have with said character: Again, don't think there's any particularly hated ones I've come across. Even Zhongli/Guizhong I don't hate, it's just not my preferred configuration. A random headcanon: He's kept in contact with every (or almost every) generation of funeral directors in Hu Tao's family, and in the past (when humanity was less removed from the gods and the adepti by necessity) has even collaborated with some as either Rex Lapis or a powerful adeptus, and this is the source of some of their knowledge of the spiritual world. General Opinion over said character: I like him. I don't spend a huge amount of time thinking about him, but when I do it's generally positive it's just not 'I will now spend a month fixating' kind of positive.
Ei
Sexuality Headcanon: Lesbian, probably. Sapphic definitely, given Miko. Gender Headcanon: Funnily enough the only time I've really thought about gender-adjacent things with Ei was in an ABO au where Ei just does not realize that a large part of her discomfort in trying to model being the perfect omega leader in place of her sister, is that she isn't an omega. But she's spent so long first as her sister's double and then as her replacement, that that whole feeling is intricately woven up into all the other ways she differs from Makoto. Anyway idk exactly how I would translate that into a non-ABO verse, but I feel like I'd want to bring over at least some of it, just because it does open up fun new layers with makoto and also dissolving her body and making new ones and possibly even the way she treats those bodies afterward. A ship I have with said character: I am fully in support of Ei/Miko, they deserve each other (said both affectionately and exasperatedly), and I tbh haven't thought that much about other ships, especially since I prefer Sara/Shogun over Sara/Ei. A BROTP I have with said character: With Miko again, naturally, and I'm also very curious about her old party (and Chiyo). A NOTP I have with said character: [shrug] Ei/Shogun maybe? But even then if you wrote it right (i.e. not ignoring their canon dynamic and power difference and agency issues) I might enjoy it. A random headcanon: I wonder sometimes if she never really felt she was qualified to run Inazuma, and her clones were (partly, initially) an attempt to make someone better that she could pretend was Makoto having things under control as always. (But they were never close, because she didn't really understand why Makoto did things or what she wanted, and so how could she ever recreate something similar?) General Opinion over said character: Pretty indifferent tbh. I haven't really been hooked by her character in general.
Nahida
Sexuality Headcanon: Man, she's a 500 year old kid whose entire knowledge of the world comes through people's dreams. She's either not thought about it at all before, or she's spent a lot of time watching people's wet dreams and documenting all the fascinatingly weird things humans dream up in them, and either way I have no idea how that translates into the first time she tries out something irl. Her previous self was probably bi tho. Gender Headcanon: Radish. A ship I have with said character: The goddess of flowers in her past life, definitely. Possibly a drama-filled ot3 with the two of them and Deshret. I haven't finished the archon quest yet but I'm shipping it even if it's jossed. In present-day idk. A BROTP I have with said character: [shrug] Fandom's really running with Nahida and Scaramouche rn, but idk if I'm feeling the dynamic most people are going with. We'll see how it plays out. A NOTP I have with said character: [shrug] A random headcanon: The first chunk of questline we get regarding her had me thinking she was actually created by Rukkhadevata as part of the Akasha system, and I'm still very fond of that. It's been jossed of course and no longer works at all with Genshin's storyline but there are, I think, some very fun things you could do with the concept in, say, a sci fi au where the Akasha system is some kind of galaxy spanning AI network. General Opinion over said character: There are parts of her I like and parts I'm indifferent to. I didn't end up liking her enough to pull in the end, so there's that. She does make an extremely cute radish.

reading sso's january blog RN:
"The 4th Dark Rider had yet to appear in the game, although a codename “Nihili” had been used. When we first started looking into her appearance, it was during the same time period when we worked on the updated looks of the other Dark Riders, Sabine, Jessica, and Katja. Elise was the fourth Dark Rider’s working name, but after we had gotten a bit further in her development process, Chiyo was the name that we felt was right for her.
The design was approved and made it all the way to the 3D and rigging stage. We released some pictures of her to the community, and we got some feedback that we weren’t expecting. After some consideration, we decided to act on it, revert the design, and start over. This was not an easy decision, but we felt it was the right thing to do at the time."
honesstlyyy i'm like. beyond thankful sse listened. as much as i butt heads with certain decisions they make and as much as i was upset at the racism i saw in the dark riders, i am thankful they did see and consider some of our feedback, especially considering that i felt like a vocal minority. when the chiyo discussions were happening it didn't feel like that many people were open to listening to me at first tbh. i'm really thankful sse did.
of course, i still strongly stand by my criticisms of the dark riders, but i'm glad there's tangible proof they're at least listening. i'm really happy about that :)
now i just wanna see how the dark riders continue to be handled and if we can get a japanese character added to the game that isn't stereotypical LOL but i know that these days that's a hard thing to write if you are not yourself japanese -- or even if you are tbh. and avoiding stereotypes isnt like. everything. i often DO fulfill japanese stereotypes just by existing and being japanese. that being said you can tell when something is good faith, when its not, and when its accidentally racist anyway

i have so many thoughts about ko that i dunno where to exactly begin, so have some lil bullet points <3
has always given off scary dog vibes -- people were always scared to go up to him in high school bc he just has :' ) intense features despite being literally so relaxed and easy-going. he's a softie until he's gotta actually be that scary dog
i'm really soft though bc ko is the kind of person who will make a point to ask more about the stuff you're into. he's not having any of this " oh let me stop talking bc you probably don't want to hear this. " no, he wants to hear it!! tell him about your fictional characters and your favorite constellations and the series you're into and literally everything you enjoy!!
generally, ko tries to be very conscious of the people around him, similar to chiyo, only he doesn't change his personality like she does. he just makes a point to understand what makes them comfortable vs. uncomfortable and acts accordingly.
for example, he won't force himself to be a chatterbox for you, but he'll remain engaged and never make you feel bad for talking his ear off.
is truly such a romantic and isn't embarrassed about it!! the only time he gets a lil embarrassed is when he has to tell someone that he writes romance manga bc 9/10 times, the person is always " what??? that doesn't suit you at all! " and he has to laugh it off
tbh it kinda irks him like :/ can he not enjoy heart-fluttering moments :/ without it seeming weird :/ stop putting expectations on him pls :/
his favorite manga is lovely complex bc he really likes the unlikely pairing of a tall girl and short guy, it made him laugh a lot, and he likes that the couple didn't easily get together. their feelings weren't entirely mutual at first, and they later have some hiccups to work through. it was a fun read while still somewhat realistically portraying romance in his opinion! it's basically the manga that made him want to start writing and drawing his own :' )
his manga also follow that same kind of theme -- plenty of fun moments mixed in with more realistic portrayals of relationships and only the fun cliche tropes/plots like being forced to share a bed. none of this protagonist witnessing a moment between two characters that could be misinterpreted and proceeding to feel hurt when she could've just spoke to her love interest and solved the issue unu
i know i said he's so nice but also i need y'all to know he'll bully you ( lovingly ). if you aren't taking care of yourself, getting in your head, or generally doing something that he disapproves of, he's being mean and bickering with you until you get it together, and honestly?? it hasn't failed him yet asdf
he's absolutely the type to affectionately call you an idiot :' )

so this is from an ask on my previous blog! for context, chiyo becomes a manga artist after a few years at college ( she thinks she's gonna teach and then!! pursues her passion as she should uvu ), and she does really well tbh! this hc dives a little into the specifics of her as a mangaka.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
what are her favourite topics to write and make art about?
i'd say chiyo loves to write about topics like mental health, learning to love oneself, loss -- internal struggles that cause harm even if it isn't always visible. it's not just satisfying to watch her characters overcome these sorts of obstacles, but she also hopes that by portraying a healthy way to deal with these issues, she'll help people do the same. not everyone has a grandmother or parents to help guide them, but what do people often turn to? stories, be it for the escapism or seeing a character go through the very thing they're going through.
you'll also notice with chiyo's work that she does something studio ghibli often does -- she adds moments that let the readers breathe! she enjoys drawing intricate scenery that might take up a few panels or a whole page and taking time to focus on the beauty of the characters' environment bc it gives her an excuse to just have fun drawing and honestly!! she finds it to be necessary a lot of the time. the protagonists just went through a big fight, maybe lost someone? she'll let them and the audience breathe as she depicts the toll their fight took upon their environment, or how the sun still rises despite what might have happened. she never rushes through, especially when something big happens in the story.
what do you imagine her drawing style to be like?
i'm thinking!! her biggest influences art-wise would have been studio ghibli, a variety of shounen manga like n.aruto, b.leach, etc. and a touch of shoujo manga like f.ruits b.asket! so chiyo's art style tries to mash bits and pieces of these together, giving you very pretty environments and character designs she ends up cursing herself for bc yes they're pretty, but they take forever to draw :' ) but it's nice bc while chiyo has a preference for writing/drawing shounen manga, she does like to dabble in shoujo, so she just! draws as usual rather than switching stuff up.
i'm not sure if this is making much sense adfg but basically? take the more accurate/detailed body proportions of shounen manga but the prettiness of shoujo and you have chiyo's art style!
does she have any routines when she starts working on a new piece or is in the process of doing so?
chiyo's routine is wake up, leisurely go about her morning and enjoy it before turning on some tunes and sitting down and working till her brain hits a stopping point! she does try to give herself little breaks so she doesn't give herself hand cramps ( they're the worst ), but she mainly tries to draw as much as she can in a day, and more often than she'd like to admit, in a night. sometimes her inspiration or motivation doesn't hit until it's 10 o'clock, and chiyo can't break her rhythm once it starts for fear of losing it the next day.
if she hits a bad writer's/art block, chiyo will break routine and go on a walk, touch base with friends and family -- anything to get her brain out of its funk! pretty often it happens if she isn't stimulating herself enough, so doing something different, seeing people she cares about, and indulging in new media will usually do the trick.
