ok so i said in the past that I wanted to do like album long playlists for the sides so... I guess this is the start of that. Yippee!

so I have this little system to decide what goes into each playlist and that system is three categories as to how they correlate with the side:

1: the song is something I think they'd listen to/something that I think is from their favourite genre of music

so I said in a previous post how this song is like a really good song for intrulogical, but I felt like this was more of a Remus song than a Logan song. Its about a study where they had locked people in rooms to see how long they could be bored for, with the option to experience electrical shocks if they so choose. I'm pretty sure alot of them did choose the shocks because the boredom was getting too much. this is y I chose this song for the playlist, not only does the lyrics and the song itself feel really intrusive and unsettling, but the study itself feels as if intrusive thoughts were clouding the people's heads. and guess whose literally the embodiment of intrusive thoughts? REMUS. FUCKING. SANDERS. also it does give some vibe of Remus in a sense that he's trying to make Thomas give into his intrusive thoughts to let Remus take control of him.

I think I speak for everyone in the fandom when I say that Remus is a certified BRAT!!!! he listens to the brat album all the time. not to mention he's just a certified slut too/lh. I LOVE THIS SONG GUYS OMGGGGG. I'm actually pretty happy to talk about this one because not only do I think Remus would love it too, but the lyrics, the vibe, the EVERYTHING. IT'S GIVING RAGE! ITS GIVING "RAAAAH IM GOING TO JEFF THE KILLS YOU"!!! ok FR tho, let's talk about the lyrics first. from listening to it without looking up its meaning, it's got alot of mentions of envy and hate for someone. and now hear me out let me cook. I have a theory, a game theory even/ref, that Remus has some jealousy over Roman because Roman has been kinda deemed as THE creativity by Thomas for a while. I feel because Thomas sees Roman as his Creativity, his hero, his perfect golden side, and he sees Remus as this evil being that should be disregarded, I feel like Remus would eventually try to get rid of Roman so that Thomas would have no choice but to listen to him for creative input: "I've been watching him for my entire life, I hate the air he breathes, his foolish decrees his words so contrived and I hate the way the town's people gather outside. It just reminds me of Remus alot. I feel like he sees the beauty in the unloved in a way. examples? MR FUZZY?!? Ok I'm really excited to talk about this one. so originally I wasn't gonna put this song here but I looked up the meaning of the song. Its about embracing your desires despite the social pressure to conform. now on the surface it seems alot more like a Janus song but think of it this way. "Desires that are forbidden" Remus is he embodiment of forbidden creativity. in DWIT, virgil and Patton really thought that the reason the Remus was apart of Thomas was because that Thomas REALLY had the desire to do the things he was thinking about all thanks to Catholic guilt. also I kinda found this song from an animatic which was literally about Remus i forgot their user tho IM SORRY 😭😭😭 but yeah, it also gives vibes of the end of WTIT where he was pushing Logan to snap at him, trying to make Logan give in to his forbidden thought of "I shouldn't feel anything." type thing yk?

I love this song so much dawg. its just has a really Unhinged vibe to it that just sounds like someone's losing their mind. "Don't call the actors they've seen it all before, they'll say just let her crash and burn. she'll learn, the attention just encourages her" like in DWIT Remus is trying HIS VERY BEST to get Thomas's attention, and Logan saying the best way to deal with Remus is just basically ignore him, like I'd be pretty mad too. I just looked up the meaning of the song and basically it's about a girl whose described as "the world's worst accident" and yk... being labelled the BAD one out of the twins, it kinda fits, don't you think?

I feel like Remus would really like this song, not only is it because it's about killing and stuff, but he watched THAT ONE MLP VIDEO and thought "yk what. I read THROAM for the first time in ~5 years. Here's what I have to say.

Volume I: There was so many characters I forgot about when going into the fic. Pete, Jac, Spencers family. I cant believe I forgot them. Pete will always be a fave because everyone hates him and it makes me laugh. The first volume was always my 2nd favorite, I think it still is. overall, the storyline isn't complicated and I like that. Ryan is such an asshole so I dont feel bad for him one bit in any of the fic. Also, I used to say that the bus crash was Brendons fault (I was 13, okay?) But Ryan was just an unstable motherfucker who truly should not be trusted to drive a vehicle of any kind.

Volume II: holy shit. I hate volume two. Not saying the writing is bad but Jesus Christ, Ryan is an asshole. bro literally stalked Brendon after he ran into him at that party like what? I had messaged a friend after finishing volume 2, saying "I'm a really nice person I never wanna make people feel sad, let alone make a whole fictional story about someone being severely depressed and unstable whilst chasing a boy then fucking his bf at the end???" and I think that perfectly sums up how I feel (and always felt) about volume two. other than the fact that I used to say that it was Brendons fault. (I was 13. THIRTEEN) it wasn't his fault. Some parts were, yeah, but it's hard to pinpoint everything that happened on one person. at the end of the day, its a good story I just Hate it (does that make sense) I love it but I hate it? it remains my least favorite purely for the pain it put me through.

Volume III: I love this volume. I always have. Sisky is amazing, we all love Sisky. I will say the iconic song/album references/jokes made me cringe a bit, though. Im not exactly sure what about this fic I always liked so much, I guess you can really see Ryans character growth and finally not be as much as a miserable fuck (he's still unstable dw) Since Ryan is less insufferable, it makes the volume more enjoyable. I like that Spencer and Ryan became friends again, I think it makes the book more enjoyable and tbh I think Spencer rly tied vol 3 together, if he wasn't part of it it would lowk suck. overall, best volume cant wait to host the throam tour where we go to hotel Chelsea then machias.

final thoughts: if I thought throam was 100% good when I was 13, Id say now that I think throam is about 85% good now. (does that make sense pt 2) this fic has sent me back into being 13 and I have been blasting some pretty. odd. (im listening to it rn as im typing this) and listening to this album just makes my life feel more simple. still a solid fic, I think it would be an amazing published book. and I think we can all agree that it would be amazing to see THROAM movies (in our dreams)

hm, there are soooo many fics from old fandoms that I am mortified that I wrote. Fortunately, they are all deleted. For L&Co, I am pretty proud of most of it, although I now see that some of my earlier fics are not as good as I thought they were at the time. And I'm not sure that I would reeeeally choose to write Cutting Room Floor again. But it had quite a big impact, so from that perspective, I'm glad I did.

I love the moment between Lockwood and Quill in the last chapter of Gutted:

“What are you doing here?” His voice came out in its usual hospital rasp. Kipps put the heels of his stupid pointy boots on the edge of Lockwood’s bed. “You know how they say that there are things you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy?” Lockwood blinked at him. “I’ve heard of the concept.” “Well.” Kipps gestured at him with what appeared to be a disposable coffee cup. “Here we are.” Doped up as he was, it took Lockwood a second to parse this. Then he raised an eyebrow. “I’m your worst enemy?” “Don’t get a swelled head about it.” “I’m sixteen, Kipps. You’re nearly thirty. That’s kind of sad.” “I am not nearly —” Kipps broke off, apparently realising he was being baited. “That smack on the head didn’t make you any funnier.”

Just... really proud of this one.

🎢 Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?

Wildest ride for the reader or the writer?? For the reader, probably the Intruder, lol. That one starts crazy and stays crazy. For me as a writer, probably one I haven't actually published, because I started it and deleted it so many times. That was when I was having myself a lil freakout about fandom in general last summer. I am over that now, obvs.

babe, you know the answer to this one, hahahaha. It's Sleep Token. Eveeeerything is Sleep Token right now. Particularly Jaws/Blood Sport. I also listened to this a lot while writing the St Anthony fic.

literally any time, I just want some freaking time to WRITE ugh!!! I generally manage to carve out half an hour in the evening, right before bed.

💖 What made you start writing?

turned 30 and almost immediately had a crisis, complete with brand new hyperfixation and 100k+ of fic.

🎉 What leads you to consider a fic a success?

Sometimes, when you write something well, you just know you've done good work and that's a kind of personal satisfaction no amount of gushing comments can give you. That said, I do also crave comments because I am a normal human being and I love attention.

✅ What's something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don't mean to?

Descriptions of food. Scripture quotes (okay, that one's on purpose). Advice my dad has given me. Characters struggling with self-loathing (I am FINE, fic is just cheaper than therapy and much more fun tbh)

Action is definitely hard to do and I will tend to keep action scenes as short as humanly possible.

“Seems like a pretty packed place again. As to be expected of someone as cheery as Ashi.”

Taruchi smiled as she looked around the dorm decorated in shades of pink and splashes of a light green. Very Ashi vibes, she thought. Mission accomplished. It had taken a while to figure out where to get decorations until Riddle had seen the first years brainstorming and told them to just use magic.

They were first years, okay? They're a lot newer to magic. It makes sense that this didn't immediately click.

Taruchi continued to navigate through the crowd of people talking over the music, yet somehow she still couldn't spot the birthday girl. Weird. She would've thought she'd be able to see her laughing with Ace by now. Then again, maybe it was her height making her unable to see through the crowd of much taller students.

That was when an arm suddenly shot out of nowhere, hitting her stomach.

“Ow! What the hell…” she murmured under her breath. She turned to see beside her none other than the loudest student in Night Raven College.

“HALT, HUMAN! ONLY THOSE EXPLICITLY PERMITTED BY ASHI MAY SEE HER!” Sebek yelled, making Taruchi grimace from the assault on her ears.

Who the @%#& gave this @*&£# permission to be so #@%£*&% annoying? she said in her head as her eyes narrowed.

Then she heard, “What do you think you're doing?! I'M Ashi's one and only bodyguard! Go back to your precious ‘waka-sama’!” from her other side.

Of course, when she looked, it was Ashi's ginger-haired boyfriend looking ready to pounce at Sebek. Now they were both blocking her way.

Seriously, she's been trying to do was to give Ashi her gift. Why did someone have to stop her every time? Is this some new tradition?

She had decided to just stand there while they bickered, waiting until they somehow forgot about her standing there, before she heard someone call her name.

“Taruru? Is that you?”

Across the two boys blocking her, Taruchi's eyes met with Ashi's and she grinned. “Ashi! Please help me,” she begged.

“Jeez, those two just won't stop arguing, huh? Acey, you're ruining my birthday!” Ashi complained as she approached the three, a pout on her face.

“It's not my fault this guy is the most annoying guy in the entire world!” Ace retorted, looking frantic as he gestured at Sebek. He turned to him, “Why are you here, anyway?!”

“To protect Ashi from the likes of you! What else?!” Sebek shot back. It seemed like he could squash Ace from how he towered over him, but Ace wouldn't back down.

Again, they continued to shoot insults back and forth between each other. Ashi forced a smile and dragged Taruchi away by her arm.

“So anyways, so glad you could make it, Taruru! Ya got somethin’ for little old Ashi?” she said in her playful voice, with her signature beam and wink.

“Of course.” Taruchi smiled back. “I wouldn't want to show up empty-handed. Well, it's not much of your usual gift since it's not like, something really physical, but I thought you might like it anyway.”

She opened her phone and in a few seconds showed it for Ashi to see.

“It's a playlist I made for you, composed of songs I think give off your energy or remind me of you.” Taruchi's smile brightened as she waited for her friend's response. “So… what do you think?”

I can't stop listening to the Your a Good Man, Charlie Brown soundtrack and no one wants to talk about Peanuts with me so here's my song ranking

1. The Book Report

A really good portrayal of the characters personalities through showing them doing something really mundane like homework. It's really fun to see the different amounts of effort they put into it. Charlie Brown's verse is pretty relatable to when I have executive dysfunction tbh. I love Schroeder and how he gets completely off topic immediately. Linus getting way too into it and Lucy just absolutely not caring... Also I don't know what grade these kids are in but I thought Linus was younger? Why is he in the same class? Did he skip a grade? That wouldn't particularly surprise me tbh.

2. Snoopy

Relatable af. "I feel every now and then that I wanna bite somebody" me too, boy. Me too. I relate to the wish to just go feral sometimes but your just too domestic and harmless. It feels really short despite being 3 minutes long bc the first verse is so slow. I like the kazoos also. I love Woodstock and this is the only part the birds show up which is sad but ig it's hard bc being expressive with a little cutout is hard.

3. The Doctor Is In

Charlie Brown therapy appointment. It's pretty funny too! I like how Lucy is like "not even your dog loves you lmao" the ending line is pretty good too. I love how the Broadway cast recording actor says "There's hope? :0" he says it so nice...

4. My New Philosophy

Rather cute! I love Schroeder. The dynamic is rather cute with him humouring Sally but also being the straightman in the situation. and I feel like it's not a pairing I see too much.. I could be wrong though. My newspaper never had Peanuts strips and I haven't watched the specials in forever. The melody is really good too! This was the first song I heard bc it came up on Spotify when I was looking at a musical playlist and it's the reason I learned there was an official peanuts musical.

5. Little Known Facts

Idk if Lucy genuinely thinks snow "comes up" or if she's screwing with her little brother bit either way the confidence she has when she says all this absolute insanity is really funny. Charlie Brown trying to correct her and getting talked over and getting so genuinely upset is hilarious. You could perhaps argue that Linus isn't that dumb but also. He's really young.. And believes in really bazaar things himself (like the great pumpkin..)

6. Suppertime

I like Snoopy's monologue at the beginning he's so dramatic. I love the word supper. A lot more fun to say than dinner. Dog sings about food. What else can I say? Silly guy.

6.5 Beethoven Day

I forgot to add this one and I didn't want to change all the numbers. Its just an autistic kid singing about his special interest. I love how supportive everyone is even if most of them don't really care in my opinion. Like Lucy at least, is just doing it bc of her crush.. Also I'm pretty sure this play takes place over one day which means this whole musical takes place on Dec 16th. Fantastic.

7. My Blanket and Me

I really like this one too but Linus's voice makes me mad in the cast recording so. -1000 points. The high school kid from the only good recording I could find online did a better job. It's really cute I just don't like hearing a grown man sing it in a voice mimicking a voice that Linus has never even had. Explode.

8. The Kite

Pretty good! I like the quick pace and how he succeeds at the end, if only for a moment. I love how you can feel the frustration in his voice and the disbelief when the kite doesn't immediately fall.

9. Opening

I totally forgot what the opening sounds like even though I don't ever skip it. All I remember is the beginning dialogue. It's nice that it has the happiness leitmotif. But i only know that because I'm relistening to it now. I don't thinking even agree with most of the stuff they say about him in the song itself. Charlie Brown is a little bit of a dick guys. Not much but he's certainly not great.. Idk if that's the point? Idk. It doesn't even sound like they're talking about him.

10. T.E.A.M.

Eh. Music wise it's good but I don't care about the lyrics bc I hate baseball. I like how the kid from the high school production I watched softened his voice on "for her" the cast recording doesn't have that.

11. Happiness

It's pretty good but it doesn't have any comedy and this entire musical has zero emotional weight so it feels out of place. I also don't like how Charlie Brown stole Heather's pencil. (I'm not calling her "little red-headed girl".) boy, be normal.

12. Schroeder

I think the first line and last line are funny but it's pretty eh. I don't care for slow songs most of the time.

13. Glee Club Rehearsal

Reminds me too much of middle school choir. /hj. I actually dislike it bc it's just like. A folk song with kids talking over it. Least interesting. Didn't even do it in a fun way. Idek what they're arguing about. Smth about pencils.

Ok, Feldup recs post!

Mostly my opinion (which is wildly positive) on his most recent album, Stared at from a Distance.

Warnings, this entire album talks about Feldup's SA from a woman twice his age. It's hard to listen to, it was hard to listen to for me, who suffered through no such experiences and isn't triggered, squicked or made uncomfortable by many things.

First, I'd advise that you listen to the entire album all at once (which breaks throughout if needed), in order and with lyrics (there are subtitles in the linked video). I promise it's worth it. Now for my favorite songs :

Stared at from a Distance (2nd track, 12:06), is obviously incredible and one of my faves. It's pretty long and is way more explicit on what it's talking about than Waters (4:55), the first track (which I really liked too, the music video for it is excellently made as well). I really love the way the instrumental and beat switches throughout to accompany the story, and the end of the song made me think I was going to cry (I just needed to sneeze but tbh it's still crying material). Really good, if you listen to only one song in the album I think it should be this one. (Side note, I'm also wondering if I didn't hear part of that song when I was at Feldup's concert - it was before the album was out, but you know. I don't think I heard all of it, but maybe I just forgot).

Naked and Afraid (3rd track, 3:11) is very good and picks up very well after the second track. It makes you understand that this album really is a story you're following, and you're going to get every detail of it. The following track, Dizzy (4:11) is transitioned to so well I thought it was the same song (it's also excellent), and Fear of Abandonment (4:07) right after is like. Painful. /pos

Shove it (6th track, 03:39) is honestly terrifying to listen to, and it works very well for its subject. I don't even have much to talk about for this one, it's just really good. The 7th track, Moment of Sobriety (5:30) managed to be even scarier, because of how real it gets then (if that makes sense. The whole album is painfully real, and it reminds you of this regularly).

Crying as a Weapon (8th track, 5:20) is where I had to take a break. I think it might be one of the most relatable songs for many people who were abused, not just sexually.

Death of an Illusion (9th track, 10:23) is the other very long track of this album and it is, unsurprisingly, incredible, and one of my absolute favorites. It's also one I could relate to a lot, and its progression is very satisfying. It Never Leaves (9:09) is similar to Death of an Illusion, its continuity, and its ending made me incredibly happy.

The last one, To Love Again (4:49), is the song I enjoyed the less, musically speaking, but one of my favorites nevertheless, and a perfect ending for the album in my opinion. It also has a shift in the... well, not the narration, but I guess the message, somewhat (trying not to spoil because it's so incredible to realize to me), which entirely convinced me this is actually my favorite album of all time construction-wise.

In conclusion, Oh My Fucking God this is so incredible.

Feldup is a great person who writes incredible texts and makes excellent music. The constructions of his songs and the way his story is told throughout eleven tracks is beautiful and heartbreaking and hopeful, and it genuinely is currently changing my brain chemistry /hj. It is so good. It's on Spotify and Bandcamp for sure, and I think it's on most other streaming services, and you still have the Youtube video I linked at the top. Please give it a try.

I'll quickly give my favorite songs from his other album, A Thousand Doors, Just One Key, but they're all really good too : Falling Apart (2nd track, 4:08) which is his most known song as far as I'm aware and is a fucking banger from the first notes, Mental Health (6th, 4:25), Attention (3rd, 3:54), and Stockholm (10th, 11:21), which holds one of my favorite lyrics ever (There is no cure/I am the disease).

hmmm tbh most of the time i don’t have any thoughts on bobby- i just forget he exists since he isn’t a member of the core 4 - julie luke reggie and alex (though that’s funny to say since he is a big part of the plot ie stole luke’s music and gave us a glimpse into what kind of person luke is, not wanting to be forgotten and erased by time and using his music to make sure he’s remembered but then you get bobby literally wiping his name off every song he ever wrote and having him be forgotten..ANYWAY TANGENT)

imma base all of this on show canon- i don’t really consider any of the books that came out after as “true” canon cause they weren’t kenny and the writers etc but ye; my mini disclaimer

so i am aware that bobby was a teenager who had lost 3 of his band members and friends in one go. it must’ve been traumatising, esp right before a huge gig that would’ve changed their lives forever.

but grief….thats never an excuse to be a shithead. bobby knew how much music meant to luke; to the boys and sunset curve in general. he knew the struggles luke was going through at home — heck he was there when they practiced unsaid emily!!! even if he wasn’t close to luke (though there’s debate about this again due to the non-canon ‘canon’ books that he was the closest to luke but it doesn’t make sense since they straight up forgot about bobby until well into the plot) bobby being there to witness that song is huge! he knew that much about luke!!

and i know there’s the argument of “but he was just a kid the companies took advantage of him!!” lmao no. that’s not an excuse. unless he was desperate to get famous he could’ve just…not done that. and let’s say he was bullied by the big bad music execs. man is obviously a rockstar in his own right now and could’ve easily either unearthed a “long lost song” and dedicated it to his bandmates or said it was written by luke or SOMETHING (which still wouldn’t have absolved him of his shitty actions but at least we’d know he has a conscience)

he obviously just rose to fame as Trevor with luke’s music skills and kept riding that wave — so no matter whether he had moments where he felt guilty or constantly thought about his dead friends…..he’s still a pretty shitty person as far as canon is concerned. the show ended with him just being like “oh shit” cause well. he might finally get caught lol

(also the way his entire house is decorated with massive posters of his face and the way he is with carrie and the kind of person he raised…..doesn’t say great things about him as an adult either. just a narcissist)

So, I read this book... Daisy Jones & The Six

so, i've been thinking about doing a thing, and maybe someone finds it interesting, or maybe it's just for me to order my thoughts and i'll get bored to it before march, but we'll see. basically, for the last two years i've been keeping track of the books i read (or audiobooks i listen to) bc i felt like i'm not reading enough (except for fanfiction). and while i'm far behind people who actually read a lot, and woefully behind how much i used to read when i was a teen, i'm actually pretty happy with the progress. made it to 34 in 2022 and 40 in 2023, and hope to get more done this year. 2024 is starting off strong, just finished my first book of the year, and usually when i do that, i have thoughts. so what's the point of blogs if not to put that out there, so it stops haunting my head? or maybe even get someone else's thoughts on things? so i decided to blog about the books i read (unless i forget or don't feel like it), starting with general feelings and then going into spoilery feelings. so, yeah, this is what this is going to be. let's go.

Summary: a look back on fictional rockband The Six rising to fame, where they meet It Girl Daisy Jones, leading to the collab of a century, until the band breaks apart after one show in Chicago. Told completely in interview snippets.

General Feelings: say what you want, it's a fast read, and it's fun. the style of writing with everything being interview snippets, aka the band members' and friends' memories, works really well, especially the parts where one person remembers things, and the next person directly contradicting their memory. it's a quick way to give you everyone's point of view, and sowing the seeds of miscommunication and conflict. the story is easy to follow, and it's also easy to feel for most of the protagonists. the characters are likable enough, and their conflicts are mostly realistic. the final show in chicago and the general fall out unfortunately fall kind of flat for me. like... this is it? it's not much of a bang, tbh... which maybe sums up my feelings about the whole thing. it's a fun ride, but at the end, it's like "huh, guess that was it?" it is fun, but it's just not very deep, i guess. although the way they describe the songwriting process and the songs that result from it really was cool to read. another fun fact, i totally forgot there's a show until i googled the book cover. and since i was reading and caught myself wanting to check out the songs, only to remember they're not real... well, that might be enough motivation to check out the show. Recommendation: yes, i'm doing that before the actual feelings part cause i can't discuss those without spoilers. so, if anybody cares, rec first. Daisy Jones & the Six is a casual read. like, vacation book. for the beach, for train rides, for flights. it's fun to breeze through, but i doubt it'll really grip most people. so yeah, not a must read, but can be fun, light reading.

there are a few things that really didn't work for me.

i never really got into the whole daisy/billy thing. like, his instant antipathy, the weird rivalry, and then her oh so deep love for him, and at the end, him finally kinda sorta loving her but loving his wife more... maybe that's part of the format. both of them looking back at it from the future, where it's just not that present anymore. but it didn't ring that true.

my biggest problem was probably drug use and how it was handled. it just felt so trivial and meaningless. like sure, for both billy and daisy it's supposedly the central struggle, but it just fell so flat for me. i know part of that is that early december i read Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo, which (in germany) is a famous non-fiction account describing the fall into heavy drug use of an extremely young girl (starting at 12, i think), and it's the bleakest thing i've ever read, with the girl herself describing how she fell into heavier and heavier drugs, paid for by prostitution. so it's dark, and it's heavy, and compared to that the drug use in Daisy Jones feels almost offensive in how little weight it has. the comparison is super unfair, i know, i'm primed and biased, sure. but after that, the book may say a million times "oh yeah, that was a bad time for daisy", but it just doesn't ring true.

i'm not sure if the identity of the interviewer is supposed to come off as a twist? like, sure, i didn't see it coming, but it didn't really have an impact, either.

lacking impact is probably my final point. while the book, especially with the format of the interviews, is really good at painting the conflicts within the group, i didn't feel like these paid off in a significant manner. like, eddie's whole growing resentment never went anywhere except being a red herring. the show in chicaco wasn't that special in the end, was it? nothing happened at the show himself. just, the band broke at many different places at once, but they barely impacted each other. billy's struggle with addiction toppling over, daisy having a breakdown and camila helping her through it, pete getting married, the karen/graham thing exploding... like, you could see them coming, but the resolution all at once felt kinda random. like, it didn't feel like there's this big bang setting off all the dominos (yeah, mixing metaphors, i know), but more like "oh yeah, that's all happening now, i guess". sure, there isn't always a big bang, but i feel like they teased one, and then there was nothing. so i guess the end feels a bit anticlimactic, like it just fizzled out.

it was still fun to read, but more like meaningless fun, i guess. definitely preferred "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo", which was super fun. interesting writing style, but story is a bit shallow. okay, now i talked enough about a book i kinda sorta liked but wasn't super impressed by. anyone else thoughts about it? did you read it? did you watch the show? do you or did you have feelings about it? seriously would love to hear them!

Bops: When I'm With You (duh), Stereo, The Greatest Show on Earth (those last two are controversial apparently but I like them!!)

Flops: When I'm With You Instrumental (not interesting), Rock N' Roll People in a Disco World (my least favorite but still not bad at all)

Cdramas:

The ingenious one (36/36): this drama has blown me away so far with its incredibly nuanced and sharp writing, its love stories between all the major couples and the absolutely magnificent cinematography. FINISHED verdict: HIGHLIGHT drama of the year for me so far. Smart, engaging, complicated, peak romance of all sorts, just what the doctor ordered tbh (overly long review can be found in my tags). 9.5

Chang Feng Du (40/40): I did not realise how close to the end I was. This drama is very pleasant and I adore our mains, but sadly except for a few highlights (the early beating gjs put on himself, the destruction of the gu family and the aftermath, the battle for wangdu) the writing hasn’t been able to keep the narrative tension up which is sad. FINSHED verdict: Very pretty and engaging in the beginning kinda loses me in the second half and then fizzles out emotionally, doesn't crash and burn but doesn't exactly stick the landing either 6.5

Gone with the rain (10/30): adore the gremlin4gremlin couple and from the spoilers I’ve seen not gonna adore much else

An ancient love song (1/16): incredible first episode and with only 30 min per ep and 16 eps in total this is gonna be a short fun ride I hope ( with lots of angst and tears naturally).

Here we meet again (18/32): started this for Wu Qian playing to type and Zhang BinBin being pretty but oh boy I’m struggling I just don’t care about the conflicts and in s surprising twist, I like the flashbacks to high school much much more, which is very funny if you think about the fact that the reason I started liking wu qian in the first place was because of her show stealing performance in the flashbacks of My Sunshine. I’ve been promised kisses in the near future so I’m gonna hold out till then but this might end up another drop.

Hidden Love (5/25): this one promises to be v sweet and kinda short but oh my god I have so many dramas on my plate rn so this might end up the first drop.

Till the end of the moon (22/40): I think I watched ep 1 when it started but then I got busy and now I am just staring at gifsets and crying, it’s definitely on the list to watch tho.

Heroes (6?/38): I started this a while ago, was really into it and then got busy… dammit. I might just rewatch the beginning so I can remember most of the set up for sure but man the visuals on this were so good, aaaa liu yuning.

Blood of youth (0/40): the last 12 months really have spoiled us with interesting looking wuxia dramas and this one is definitely on the list, I have been gifbaited once again.

Ray of light (0/30): usually hs dramas are something I avoid, but because I will not be watching the longest promise, for reasons, and bc @storge is a gifmaking temptress, this has made it on the list.

The legend of anle (0/39): Lmao trust YOUKU to screw up the release with bad subs only 1 ep even for vips and no released schedule… but at least I can put this on the backburner for now. Lmao should have known not to trust a youku dilreba drama, the tl has soundingly spoken and I'm gonna avoid this.

Ancient Detective (0/24): I was recced this by a friend when I mentioned my love for wuxia dramas, and since it’s almost shockingly short for a cdrama it’s on the list. EDIT: this got @purplehanfus seal of approval so it is def going up the list and since it's complete I'll probably at least watch it before the ongoing ones.

Butterflied love (0/22): see I barely made this post and already forgot about the screencap that got me started on writing it, the screencapa look great, but the drama is on mango, so who knows when I’ll truly be able to watch this

When I fly towards you (0/24): Well, I wasn't interested bc modern youth drama, but then I heard it described as "updated It Started with a Kiss" and... I'm weak? ISWAK was pretty much my crack gateway into asian dramas and while IDK if i could rewatch it today, something in me will always love this kind of story. Maybe it's like a quick palate cleanser in between since apparently eps are only about 30 mins.

Mysterious Lotus Casebook(0/40): CHENG YIIIII, in a possibly bromantic role? Or maybe het romance, I'll take it all. Plus I've already seen he's bleeding copious amounts as per his contract, so that's most of the checklist done.

Lost You Forever (0/??): because nature abhors a vacuum I apparently must have?? A minimum to watch pile and this actually and genuinely looks good??? A Yang Zi drama in 2023??? The mind boggles. Anyway I've been reading the recaps with delight, and am def going to watch this when part two airs in a couple of months but until then I have a thankful reprieve...

See you in my 19th life (4/12): since kdramas release so slowly this is on the backburner but it does have some great gifsets that keep enticing meee

King the land (2/16): I am watching this for junho but it is kinda hard bc I have so much else on my plate and while I don’t mind a classic romcom type story I feel I need a bit more of an emotional hook

Story of the nine-tailed 1938 (0/16): so so many gorgeous and hilarious gifsets so little time. I loved season one so so much and the fact that this focuses on the brotherly relationship?? Extremely smart writing decisions were made!

The red sleeve (0/16): I blame @dangermousie for this she keeps reblogging angsts junho on my dash and I am but god’s weakest warrior.

Love tractor (0/8): gay himbo farmboy falls in love?? You bet this is on the list

Lady durian (0/?): ok this is only on the list for crack reasons but, daughter in law is in love with mother in law and both women are like 40+ truly kdramas have entered a new era and I kinda wanna be here for that

EDIT: Revenant (0/12): Kim Tae Ri in a spooky drama? POSSIBLY POSSESSED KIM TAE RI??? how could i forget to put her on this list, plus it was written by the Kingdom writer and I adore that drama plus it's only 12 eps which is smart in this case so... let's hope i get to it at some point D:

My dearest (2/20): I checked this out because it's got pretty much everything going for it from a production standpoint and boy did the first two eps deliver. This has got 2 seasons though so I'll probably wait until the second season is airing, since it won't be too long till season 2 or so the internet tells me.
