Technically our final Adventure Zone Amnesty player character, here's a moveset for none other than Arlo Thacker!

Thacker, relatively average speed and damage, is a bit slow to get started, but if you're able to get the necessary momentum, he can be a real beast on the battlefield.

Thacker's side special has him rush forward a distance, dropping a trail of his awful pretzel, pepperoni, and peanut butter candy gorp behind him. Foes who move across it will take damage, kinda like caltrops except made of gross trail mix.

Thacker's up special has him toss his spiked walking stick in whatever direction you aim. It does good damage, and if it makes contact with a foe, item, or part of the stage, he uses the attached rope to pull himself towards it.

Thacker's neutral special has him pull out his ancient laptop to take some notes on his foes. Anyone in line of sight when this move is used temporarily deals less damage and knockback to Thacker. This move can't be used again until the timer runs out, whether or not it worked.

Thacker's down special has him connect to the Quell in a Psychic Event. For a short bit while the button is held, he cannot be knocked back and any damage Thacker takes in this state will power up his very next attack.

Arlo Thacker's finale has the Quell take complete control, turning him once again into his fully feral state. While possessed by the Quell, Thacker is much faster and stronger, though his moveset is much more limited.

did a resin painting workshop tonight and made something in honour of taz amnesty! i wanted to do a pine guard patch but the pine tree was too much trouble to figure out so i tried to do a mountain range for mt kepler. the spikes are supposed to represent the trees but it ended up looking like fire so ig it’s also to commemorate the two unnamed NPCs who died fighting the fire elemental back in the 70s or whatever

a juno devine character study (titled after the state flower of west virginia)! post ep 28 spoilers, and i do believe her and duck actually knew each other when they were younger than when i have them meet in this fic but shh it's fine, ~560 words

Juno Devine. She had always felt like her name created shoes a bit bigger than she had ever been able to fill. The king of the Roman gods’ wife and then just the word divine (albeit spelled differently) didn’t exactly conjure the image of a small town forest ranger. That was okay with her though, it was more a recurring thought in the back of her head than a true worry. Her life had really turned out perfectly. Who knows where she would have ended up if not for Arlo Thacker’s intervention with seven-year-old Juno on the day of that fateful field trip? At any other job, she would have been perfectly competent, but never really satisfied, always glancing out the window and longing to be back outside. Luckily, though, the Monongahela National Forest became her home, almost even more so than her apartment in Kepler.

The best part of being a forest ranger was her colleagues. As a child, Juno never really connected with any of her classmates. After Thacker talked to them, they eased up some on the bullying, but she was still very lonely. Now, as an adult, she could have conversations on all the topics related to nature she was most passionate about and be met with the same level of enthusiasm from her fellow rangers. Duck Newton was the one that Juno found herself connecting with most. They started hanging out outside of work and became friends. It was difficult for Juno to be in silence with others, since it felt like all the times she had been ignored and invisible in the past, but this anxiety seemed to naturally dissolve with Duck. One warm summer night, when it was dark enough to see the stars, without a cloud in the sky, they met up by the river just as they had planned. Duck brought a blanket and some popcorn, Juno brought a couple hard lemonades, and they just enjoyed each other’s company and the perfect view of the stars without a word.

So, when things started getting strange in Kepler (or more so than usual), Juno trusted Duck to help handle it. Sure, she wished she had a better idea of what was going on (and something was obviously being covered up since Duck couldn’t lie for shit), and she didn’t really know Duck’s two weird friends, but if he thought they were good enough to work with then that must be the case. When things really went south, the FBI came to town, and all of a sudden Arlo Thacker showed back up on her doorstep asking her to basically commit a federal crime, what was she going to say? No? That absolutely wasn’t an option at the behest of the man who had set her life on the right track, and really, at this point, she would have joined the plan herself soon anyway. As a forest ranger, she worked for the government, but Juno’s first allegiance had always been to the flora and fauna and the land itself. The FBI coming in and closing off parts of the forest to set up their goddamn surveillance base camp wasn’t gonna stand. Not in her town. So she gave Thacker, now an old man, but still with the same twinkle in his eye as always, a big hug and promised to do everything she could. The fight was on.

ranking the main taz trios from least to most likely to have all kissed each other on the mouth at some point:

5: coriolis crew. absolutely not. there is about a 0% chance even a single pair of them kissed. i don't think even friendly cheek kisses have occurred. amber is allergic to affection, devo will not shut up for even 5 seconds, and i don't think zoox even has lips. not even to mention the weird distant coworkers but also contentious found family vibe they got goin on. no kissies were had.

4: pine guard trio. it's been a long time since i listened to amnesty but i just do not see it happening iirc. maybe ned and duck at some point like once? definitely not aubrey with either of them. and not thacker (if you include him) either.

3: tres horny boys. counting the stolen century, i think there's an okay chance taako and magnus have kissed at least once. the chance of either of them kissing merle is pretty low but not fully nonexistent

2: thundermen llc. it's happened before and no one knows if it was romantic or friendly/messing around, least of all the three of them, and they're okay with that

1: poppy's boys. these old men have explored each other's bodies on more than one occasion and it was awkward and weird every time but that's not stopping them

unpopular opinion but I really like the adventure zone. the first DND podcast I ever listened to was Taz Balance. I fell in love with it instantly. it was funny and silly and told a good story while being easy to follow for someone like me who didn't know how to play before hand. I learned how to play alongside the players and liked the goofs. it's what got me back into fanfiction writing and part of what gave me the courage to start actually posting them for people to read.

I've always had a hyperfixation on cryptozoology as long as I can remember and so amnesty caught my attention quickly. I love the chaos of it and apparently it's unpopular but I really loved Aubrey too. all of the players were great but apparently it's unpopular to like Aubrey and all Travis's characters in general. and Travis in general but I love Travis, his humor is exactly mine and Aubrey and Magnus are still on par with my favorites. I went as Arlo Thacker and Indrid Cold to the Halloween parties I had this year.

the first character I ever cosplayed was Magnus Burnsides and I got my partner to cosplay Taako. it was the first one and inspired a lot more creativity in me.

I love the graphic novels. I own all of them except for the eleventh hour because I can't afford it yet but I've read all of them they're all really well drawn and the story is amazing as always. all of them and all arcs of every campaign have made me cry easily. they're all that beautiful

finally I really really really liked graduation. I love Fitzroy. everything about crab boy magic man makes me happy. I like Rainer and her wheelchair, as someone who needs a wheelchair (but can't afford one rip american healthcare) it's nice to see and I also like that it's brought up in a jokey way when we first meet her. because it wasn't pity or anything. it was very in character for her. I like that we meet so many people up front because that's what it feels like when you move schools. there's so much new to the point of being overwhelming. I LOVE FIRBY AND HIS NO NAME!!!

I see so much hate towards taz and specifically towards Travis and I just can't understand it. also why expend your energy towards something you don't enjoy. just let people like things.
