#taylor is so much more like daisy in some ways than she is the other tjr character

have you read the daisy jones book? it’s my favorite book and daisy emotionally reminds me so much of taylor.. or at least the “young” taylor (red era more specifically). how she craves to express herself through her music and her singer-songwriting, how she’s honest and vulnerable in her music and it ended up creating her own personal hell/hurt because she had to perform those songs over and over again and reopen the wound (red tour atw). she’s the red album, yoyok, dear reader, the archer and so on personified.. in the way that daisy and billy are artistic soulmates/twin flames meant to meet but not meant to be also reminds me a little of haylor
yes! i read it a couple of weeks ago, after the show ended. there were aspects of it that reminded me so strongly of her and some of what she's gone through. obviously taylor has quite a different background, and in certain ways personality type, and she has her unique triumphs and struggles, but the passion in daisy and her ambition and her belief in her own talents and her need to express herself creatively and sing her own music and connect to the world through that art is taylor to the core. that idea that both her strength is the diaristic honesty and vulnerability of her songwriting, yet it also makes that carving into your wounds and reliving heartbreak and exposing that repeatedly on stage in front of watchful eyes dissecting everything you do. daisy's care towards people (especially young women) who are fans too, versus how awful the press is towards her and how unhesitatingly they publish that cruelty.
this also really made me think of her, even though it comes from billy:
while narratively the reason daisy learns both selflessly and self-caringly to let that flame go, it's very, "remember when you couldn't take the heat? i walked out and said, 'i'm settin' you free...'" letting him go is the right decision for everyone, and the only decision that can not only prevent more hurt, but rescue all of their futures. it's also: sometimes giving up is the strong thing.
and then daisy's growth, her maturity and her approach to love transforming, her embrace of her power, her realization of what she has to let go, her recovery, there are a lot of mirrors there even if they're not exact, the meaning underneath is connected.
i posted this but it struck me hard in the show and in the book how very similar to taylor's journey this revelation is - and even after recent events, i still believe this is true and resonant and such an important thing that's been learned (and that irl will be carried forward):
passion shouldn't only be pain, and creativity should be nurtured rather than burned to the ground in a frenzy, and love shouldn't be a source of destruction, and once you learn those things and hold fast to your voice and your value, you can face what you have to face, and hold onto what's true and good.
hold on to childlike whims and moonlight swims and your blazing self-respect.
#taylor is so much more like daisy in some ways than she is the other tjr character#she gets compared to that i cannot see AT ALL as a parallel (and whom i do not like. and i <3 daisy so i'm biased)#but that is. a different discussion lol#anonymous#thrown out speeches

@angelxd-3303's Mario au has taken over my life in the best way possible, so I’ve got some headcanons that have been spinning in my head for a while and wanted to share. (Some of the ones with Mario are based on my dad.)
The first time Bowser saw Luigi be reckless and try and pet a piranha plant, he picked him up like a mama cat picking up a kitten by the scruff of its neck.
Mario used steal borrow VHS tapes of Disney movies and watch them with Luigi on an old TV he managed to fix up. (Luigi’s favourite was beauty and the beast.)
Luigi and Daisy are actually childhood friends and she decided to go look for him when he and Mario went missing. She arrived in Sarasaland through the pipe and after defending it from Tatanga, and finding Mario and Luigi, the citizens of that desert kingdom decide to make her their princess. “Wait, I’m a princess now?....aaaahhhhh!!!!” Yeah, she kind of freaked out a little bit.
Despite how warm it is in the Darklands, Luigi still gets chilled quite easily, so Bowser is more than happy to keep him warm.
(This is based off my dad) Mario LOVES Taylor Swift, specifically her more country themed songs and constantly belts them out. Peach thinks its adorable, Luigi is begrudgingly used to it after listening to Mario’s singing for years.
Contrary to everyone’s beliefs, DK prefers strawberries to bananas.
Kamek and Peach get together to gossip with each other and talk about the latest fashion trends. Sometimes they bicker about who should get the best dresses for Luigi.
(Based off my dad again) Mario loves to knit, whenever winter comes round, he loves for everyone. He’s knitted little scarfs for the toads, a sweater dress for Peach, a jumper for Luigi, a blanket for Bowser (due to him being a reptile and cold-blooded) and gloves for DK. He even knits the ugliest Christmas sweaters for everyone when the holiday comes around.
The first time Luigi wore a dress was when he was five. It was a Belle dress that Daisy got him (since she knew beauty and the beast was his favourite movie) but the moment Giovanna found him wearing it, he made Luigi throw it in the trash while Aurora stood there and watched, wanting to intervene but couldn’t find it within herself to go against her husband. Luigi let Mario hold him as he cried.
The second time Luigi wore a dress was when he was captured by Bowser and dressed as Princess Peach to help Bowser practice with his proposal. He loved it so much that Kamek took note to make a green one for outside of rehearsals.
When the koopalings are playing a video game with a really hard level, they always get Luigi to help them finish it.
Peach and Daisy invite Wendy around for a regularly scheduled girls’ night and play dress-up together, do make-up and nails and watch the sappiest rom coms. Mario joins in occasionally, though he always cries when watching the movies.
Bowser used to have an alliance with King Boo after his father passed, but one day, before they got together, Luigi came to visit Bowser and the latter noticed the bruises and the tired look in his eyes, he tenderly lifts Luigi’s chin with his finger and asks, “Who did this to you?” (You know that classic trope.) Luigi then explains how he tried to look for Mario and got trapped in a haunted mansion and tried to fight off the boos and their king. Bowser is enraged at the thought of the poltergeist hurting his closest friend and breaks off their alliance.
After King Boo finds out about that, he tries to hunt down Luigi. He gives the plumber and few scrapes, but before he could do any proper damage, Bowser is crouched over Luigi in an instant, protecting his from King Boo and demands that the ghost to not even look in his direction unless he wants to find out if he can die a second time.
Bowser is the type of guy that is “dad gets attached to a dog he doesn’t want” with Polterpup. This first time Luigi brings him home, the kids love the pup, but Bowser is a bit uneasy and jealous since he used to work with King Boo (even though Polterpup was controlled by the ghostly king), but overtime he comes to adore the pooch and spoils him with treats and toys.
Mario and Peach both wore dresses on their wedding day. Peach wore the most poofy, sparkly and pinkest wedding dress you could ever imagine (a pink version of the dress that Amy Adams wore in ‘Enchanted’) while Mario wore something close to the wedding dress from Odyssey.
There are times when Mario clings to Donkey Kong’s back and just buries himself in his fur because its so soft and warm and it makes him feel safe. However, DK doesn’t even feel Mario doing that and constantly thinks that the plumber is missing when really, he’s just fallen asleep clinging to his back.
Junior loves it when his uncle Mario throws him up into the air and catches him, as if he weighed at much as a basketball being sent soaring into the sky.
Since they were on the run, Luigi didn’t see Daisy since his parents left and only reunited when he and Mario started their business.
Peach’s favourite colour is the most specific shade of pink. Whenever you ask her, she always says that her favourite is a ‘sweet pea pink’.
(Another one based off my dad) a jackdaw bird sometimes flies into the garden of the mushroom palace and comes very friendly and close with Mario. He starts leaving food and water out for her and names her Peggy. She kind of becomes his ‘unofficial pet’.
(This one is based off me and my dad) Mario’s favourite movie growing up was ‘How To Train Your Dragon’ and introduced Luigi to it while they were still young. They grew up with the trilogy (they sobbed at the end of the third movie) until they fell throw the pipes.
Luigi glows whenever he’s happy, due to his thunderhand. Whenever he gets excited, he starts glowing like a star. Bowser finds it both adorable and beautiful.
Mia – Mario’s cat – was actually a stray when they found her. Once they took her in and nursed her back to health, they realised that she had a good temperament to be a therapy animal for Mario. They’ve been inseparable ever since. Both she and Polterpup are very close and love whenever their owners meet up so they can play.
Bowser reads to Luigi at night to help him sleep. Even if he wakes up in the middle of the night from a nightmare, Bowser will always read to him until he feels safe enough to fall back to sleep.
Luigi is also an insomniac to whenever he can’t sleep, he bakes instead. Bowser found him one night taking cookies out the oven, picked him up and carried him back to bed.
This is all I’ve got for now, there might be more soon. I hope ya’ll like them.

Daylight | Eddie Roundtree x Reader
request by anon: "Heyy i loved the eddie oneshot you made!! So i wanted to ask if i can request another eddie roundtree x reader inspired by daylight by taylor swift, especially this part " And I can still see it all (in my head)/ Back and forth from New York (sneaking in your bed)" ?? Thank uu, love your writing <3"
a/n: hello!! I'm so happy to write a one shot based on taylor swift song, I LOVE THIS WOMAN!!!!! i love her lyrics she's fantastic. so thanks for request, hope u like.
words: 3.5k
Drowning your sorrows with alcohol in a random bar in Los Angeles was not what you expected for the weekend. In fact, you expected much more. Being with the one you loved and who claimed to love you was what you wanted, watching random movies, kissing, comforting each other was all you wanted. But he didn't want that, in fact he didn't want only you.
You were cursing yourself for never noticing, all the times he ran away, ignored calls, made excuses, it was all in your face and you couldn't see it. You thought this was the one, your happy ending, the one you would love until the last day of your life, the one with whom you would share every part of your life. But it wasn't.
He betrayed and abandoned you, put you in his sea of illusions and lies, only to find someone else and abandon you. The love that you thought would take care of you and love you, the famous red love, romantic love, was actually a pack of lies, pretenses and betrayals.
You have never felt so used and hurt as you do now, it's as if you were trapped in a 20-year dark night, with no way out, no light, nothing to help you or guide you out of this darkness, everything was black and white for you.
As you were about to order another drink for the barman, a man sat down on the stool next to you. He was tall and handsome, his hair was a shade of blond with a bit of brown, his brown eyes watched you and with his slightly reddish mouth he smiled at you, he already had a beer in his hand and asked you for another, you arched your eyebrow in confusion and he finally spoke to you.
"Sorry I didn't even ask if you like beer.
"No problem, I like this stuff a lot" You pointed to the bottle, you were a little drunk but still understood what was going on around you and were aware of your mind.
"Well, my name is Eddie, Eddie Roundtree." He held out his hand and you shook it back, the way he introduced himself was different like he was used to people recognizing him or something, you even stopped to think for a moment and analyzed him. Who he was or who he could be.
Being an actress, working mostly in plays and musicals, you knew many famous people in various fields, actresses, actors, musicians of all styles and even other types of artists, so you tried to think if he was one of those artists. The style was typical of the rock movement, but many people followed that style.
"Y/N L/N. Have we met before?"
"No, but I think you may have heard some of my band's music" So he was a musician but that didn't help you "You know, The Six..." Oh so you recognized it.
"Oh, Daisy Jones and The Six! I remember that" You met them with Honeycomb, that song stayed in your head for months and when Aurora was released you were quick to buy a record for yourself. "Oooh we can make a good thing baaad" You sang, it was a bit of a disaster because you were a bit drunk, your voice was better than that but you allowed yourself to laugh at yourself singing like that to a guy you just met.
Eddie laughed at that, his voice came out a little slurred with the music and he loved that, he even sang the next part with you, and you both ended up laughing together at each other. You clicked very quickly. You started talking to him, about the band, the songs, and the current Aurora tour.
After that Eddie started telling you about his career, how he was a guitar player in the beginning of the band and then a bass player, he also told you about music, how it was something important in his life and how he intends to work with music forever.
"But I talked a lot about myself, what about you? Tell me about you?"
You told him all about yourself, every little detail, and Eddie listened to everything with excitement and curiosity, he saw you in the bar and thought you were the most charming woman he had ever seen, there was no way he could resist, and now each thing you said he was more fascinated by you.
From your life as an attendant in a market to the stages of Broadway and other theaters, you told your whole story to the bass player. He was surprised that you were an actress and was dying to see you perform, he was sure you were amazing.
With every word you said about your work, Eddie could see how passionate you were about your profession, passionate about what you did, and you had a great passion that he found beautiful as well as everything about you.
Between talking about your lives and other things, you and Eddie talked about the most varied subjects, it was as if you were old friends who had met and already knew each other's life story. The conversation was wonderful, you never felt so caught up and excited in a conversation with someone as you did with Eddie and you had only known him a few hours. You spent so many hours talking that the bartenders had to kick you out because they had to close, and you were the last ones to stay.
The musician and you left the bar laughing, who could imagine being thrown out of such a place? Nevertheless, this event didn't spoil the evening, nothing could. And who knew that you would have so much fun on a night that began full of sadness and disappointment. You were so happy that you met Eddie, he was like a light bringing clarity and joy to your evening.
After you left the bar, Eddie called a cab for you because neither he nor you could drive after drinking alcohol. You got into the cab and he leaned out the window to talk to you.
"So when will we see each other again? You were surprised at yourself for saying that sentence, it was so fast you couldn't even think, it seemed strange, you had just ended a relationship and were already going out with a guy? But this is your life, so you make the rules here and live as you like.
"Whenever you want, for you I am always at your disposal..." Roundtree smiled as he stared at you, he looked at your mouth, then at your eyes and you did the same to him. But he couldn't do that yet, you hadn't even had a decent first date and you had been drinking a lot and he wanted to do it sober.
You took a piece of paper from your purse and wrote your phone number "Call me, I'll be waiting for you rock star" You kissed the paper before handing it to him. After that you told the driver to go and waved to Eddie as the car pulled away. And if you had looked back any longer you would have seen Eddie kissing the paper with your number on it and looking at it like a winning ticket.
My love was as cruel as the cities I lived in
Everyone looked worse in the light
There are so many lines that I've crossed unforgiven
I'll tell you the truth, but never goodbye
Many months passed after that, there were many meetings, kisses, moments, jokes and conversations, but you remember everything in your mind. From your first meeting at the movies to when Eddie introduced you to his friends, the guys in the band loved you, everyone was kind and polite and you liked all of them, except Billy. Eddie told you some things about Billy before you met, but you left it to your own opinions without influence from anyone. So in your own judgment you didn't like Billy Dunne, nothing about him pleased you, his arrogant and smug air made you feel sorry for those who had to live with him every day.
But apart from that, you and the band created a good relationship, you became very close to Karen and she even revealed to you her relationship with Graham, you were happy but not surprised anyone could see how much the guitarist liked the keyboard player and you think they are cute. You also became very close to Warren the drummer was very happy that his friend had found a girl, especially one as special as you, so you became friends and you even saw Rollerball with him once.
Between the trips you had to make for your job to perform in theaters around the country, Eddie also had to travel for the Aurora tour, so from one city to another you would meet up when your schedules matched or you got a break and when you couldn't Roundtree would call you every day after the shows, this was like a rule to him, he wouldn't sleep or rest without talking to you, in fact he doesn't even know if he could because your voice calmed him down and talking to you made him forget about the problems of the tour.
On one of your days off you joined the band to go to Pittsburgh. Eddie was very excited about this trip, he talked about it for weeks and his joy was contagious. He really wanted you to see the city where he was born, and to meet his family, especially his grandmother. The bassist talked a lot about his family and all he wanted was to introduce the person he was completely in love with to the most important people in his life, his family.
The trip to Pittsburgh was good, you talked with Lisa, Warren's girlfriend for a while until you felt tired and you and your boyfriend went to sleep, you were in armchairs close to each other so he only had to put his arms around you and you put your head against his chest to sleep. You slept soundly feeling safe in each other's company and didn't even notice that Camila took a picture of you. She gave the picture to you a few days after the unveiling saying how cute you both were. And now you carry that picture with you everywhere you go.
The days in Pittsburgh were the best, Eddie was so happy, you fell in love with his family and the city, it was all so comforting, everyone was so kind to you. Eddie's family loved you, they were very loving, you spent the days talking to Eddie's grandmother, she was very kind, you formed a great friendship and Eddie was very happy about it. To see you with his grandmother at the show in Pittsburgh was very important for him.
But not everything was perfect, in the show Billy Dunne stole Eddie's part in Daisy's solo. In front of everyone, your whole hometown, your friends, your family, you. You spent the whole night after the show consoling your boyfriend, after the show was over you realized how upset he was, you were spending the days at his family's house so when you came back and went into Eddie's old bedroom, where you were sleeping, you hugged him and he started to cry.
He was so tired of being belittled, manipulated and used, he had so much talent but all he got was depreciation. Being in the band was a dream for him, but he never imagined that a dream could become a nightmare. You knew about what Billy was doing, about re-recording Eddie's basses and how he always belittled the bass player and other members of his own band, you were disgusted by that man.
"He couldn't have done that, not here in Pittsburgh, in front of my grandmother, in front of you. You sat on the bed as you continued to hold each other, his face was on your neck and you felt his tears on your skin, you were moving his hair trying to reassure him, it broke your heart to see him like that.
"He's an asshole. I know how much you want to prove to people how talented you are, but you don't have to prove anything to anyone, it's not your job." You pulled his face away from your neck to look him in the eyes "Your grandma knows how talented you are, your family knows it, your town knows it, and I know it Eddie, we're all proud of you.
"I know my love, but I can't understand how such a horrible person as that guy can get anything he wants, or do anything he wants and nobody says anything. I wish I could make him feel the same way, excluded, despised, ignored, he deserves it."
"Don't let this bad feeling consume you, it will only break you, or worse, it will make you just like Billy, a person who is so broken inside that he needs to belittle and break the people around him to feel better or superior. You are not like that Eddie, you are bigger than that, your music and passion is bigger than all that.
And it was looking into your eyes at that moment, inside your childhood bedroom, with the curtains open where the window allowed the moonlight to shine on you, that the bass player had an epiphany, a confirmation of how everything you had was something so precious and unique, that he wanted it forever, to be with someone who supported and loved him the way he was with all the flaws and faults, a love that told the truth but would never say good-bye
You once told Eddie that he was like daylight, that he brightened your days, cleared your thoughts and brought you out of a dark night of twenty years, and that now with him you could only see daylight with him. He had never understood that, until today.
I don't wanna look at anything else now that I saw you
I don't wanna think of anything else now that I thought of you
I've been sleeping so long in a twenty year dark night
And now, I see daylight
I only see daylight
Sometimes life changes so fast that when we stop and look back we think how real was it? How much we felt and all that we experienced. It's crazy how fast the night can change. And that's what happened in your life and in Eddie's life.
After the Pittsburgh show the tension in the band increased, everyone was uncomfortable and in trouble, except Warren. Eddie was at his limit and you knew it, when he told you that he was leaving the band, you were sad for him, because you knew that this was his dream and he dedicated so much of himself, but you respected his decision and supported him in it, all you wanted was for him to be okay.
And your boyfriend really admired this in you. In the beginning he was afraid to tell you that he was leaving the band, he was insecure, the band was the only thing he had, he was afraid that you would see him in a different way now that he was not part of one of the biggest bands in rock. And he was relieved when nothing changed, you still believed in him and his talent.
You still remember the day after the Chicago show, you were at your home in New York. Last night Eddie didn't call you as usual and you were very worried, you called but he didn't answer. Then in the afternoon when the thoughts were troubling you, your apartment doorbell rang and you answered. At the door was Eddie, with a suitcase and a black eye, the only thing he said to you was "It's over" and you understood everything. You cared for him that night, you loved him, supported him, and cared for him.
In the months after the breakup, Eddie surprised you. He bought a new apartment, a bigger one than you had, a place of your own, where you could be who you were and love each other the way you wanted. Starting to live with Eddie was amazing, you had a great life, waking up with daylight shining on you, cooking meals together and making messes, sneaking in your bed, Eddie helping you rehearse lines for the plays you were in.
It was so funny, he was always so dramatic in his lines and so expressive, you laughed at him most of the time and it made the work lighter. Roundtree went back to playing guitar, he went back to writing, making some songs and meeting new bands, labels and musicians. And this is how Eddie slowly entered the world of music production. He got a job at a record company and became the producer of a hard rock band that was starting up.
After the first album, the band took off and Eddie's work was recognized, so the record company called him to produce other music and other artists and this is how he established himself as a popular and good music producer. You couldn't even describe how happy you were, you were so happy that Eddie would continue with his dream, you were afraid that he would quit music after the band and when he started producing music you could see how excited and happy he was, so you were happy too.
You accompanied him to all his events and he did the same with you, without the touring life he had more time now, so he went to all his shows and was your biggest fan as his co-workers said. His job remained the same and that's why you still need to travel.
And I can still see it all (in my mind)
All of you, all of me (intertwined)
I once believed love would be (black and white)
But it's golden (golden)
And I can still see it all (in my head)
Back and forth from New York (sneaking in your bed)
I once believed love would be (burning red)
But it's golden
Like daylight, like daylight
And that's what you were doing now. Sitting in front of a dressing table in your dressing room, you were getting ready to go on stage. You were in Arizona performing your new play that was showing in several states. It had been a month since you had seen Eddie and it was so hard for you, you spent so much time together, it was like the time he went on tour, you kept calling and even exchanging letters. In some of them Eddie sent you some lyrics he wrote about you, writing music was something he never gave up and you were proud of it.
Now looking in the mirror, you think back to all the moments you remembered, the first time you saw each other, life with him in the era of The Six, building a life in New York. And you could only feel grateful and happy to have built such an amazing life next to someone you loved so much and who loved you with the same intensity. Real love, with difficulties and battles, but together you overcame everything and grew to become what you are today.
You smiled at the thought, and were so thoughtful that you didn't even notice when a production employee walked into your dressing room.
"Miss Y/N L/N, this came for you" He handed you a bouquet of flowers, they were yellow daffodils, they were beautiful.
"Oh, thank you so much, do you know who sent them?"
"No, but this note came with them" He handed you a small envelope "And you go on stage in 5 minutes" You nodded your head in agreement and he left, then you opened the note.
"I have traveled a long way just to see my star shine with my own eyes on this stage. Greetings from New York."
The note was unsigned but you already knew who it was from, you cracked a big smile, kissed the note and put it away with the bouquet. Then you came out of your dressing room and ran onto the stage. Lights were turned on and the curtains opened, and when you looked out into the audience there he was.
In all his glory, he was standing in the front row applauding you and smiling at you proudly, the man who changed your life, who taught you that love was golden, that love is about good things and not about making the other person feel belittled, the love of your life, your daylight.
I don't wanna look at anything else now that I saw you (I can never look away)
I don't wanna think of anything else now that I thought of you
(Things will never be the same)
I've been sleeping so long in a 20-year dark night
(Now I'm wide awake)
And now I see daylight (I see daylight), I only see daylight (Ah)

So I had some thoughts about an old message
One step forward
1 2, 3 4 steps back
For the first twelve albums of her career, and the first 34 years of her life, Taylor has had to take four steps back for every one step forward. Whether it's a step out of the closet or an attempt to push forward musically, or to progress her image - she always had to appease others first, and make compromises. Like the bearding.
As windows glow through darkness
Like candles on a snack
The windows represent home and hope. Something Taylor is keeping in her view as she moves forward through the dark.
"Candles on a snack" seems like a reference to a birthday though. The end point of all of this is a birthday? Possibly. We've all noticed how Taylor keeps referencing Karlie's birthday. 8 and 3 everywhere you look. It could just be a silent way to express her love, like the daisy motif. Or maybe it's something we should be keeping an eye on?
Another possibility is that the windows are the hope Taylor is giving Kaylor fans, by offering us "windows" into the truth. Windows like the polaroids at Drake's 30th birthday party, or like all the birthday cakes we suspect were Karlie's doing. The Milk Bar cakes everywhere you look, or the cake with the cats and red roses for Taylor's own thirtieth, that just felt so much like a cake Karlie commissioned for her.
Cap the lamp, put the goat back
Frivolous, tenfold, 3 desires
And until the clock strikes midnight
Light the ground with fires
"Cap the lamp" - extinguish the flame. Put out the light. Taylor is back under cover of darkness?
"Put the goat back" - This could have any number of meanings. GOAT as in "greatest of all time". Goat as in "scapegoat". Goat as in "Judas goat" (a goat that unsuspecting animals follow into the slaughterhouse). All we can really say with this is that some important part of the plan got put back. Not time. Not yet.
Alternatively! It's possible this whole portion of the riddle references Disney's Aladdin.
"Cap the lamp" - the genie in the movie is imprisoned within the lamp by this mechanism.
"Put the goat back" - the genie transforms into a goat at one point in the movie. (So the goat here is the genie.) The genie wants to be freed from the prison of the lamp. He grants wishes and performs illusions for others, but is imprisoned back in the lamp when not fulfilling this purpose.
"Frivolous" - the genie is a comedy character but his enslavement within the golden lamp is a darker existence than people realize.
"Tenfold" - there is a saying that the things you do "will come back on you tenfold". It's probably the most common use of the word these days, and relates to the concept of karma. Anon wanted us to take note of this word in particular.
"3 desires" - the genie in Aladdin had the power to grant three wishes to the person who let him out of the lamp. Aladdin's wishes were: to be a prince, to be saved from drowning, and finally, to set the genie free. If these correspond to Taylor's three big wishes in her life, then "be a prince" might translate as "find fame"; "be saved from drowning" might translate to "hold onto love" ("I'd hold you as the water rushes in" / "Help me hold onto you"); and finally . . . "free the genie" is freedom. For both herself and Karlie. No more performing for everyone else while kept in a gilded cage. No more making a lark of the misery.
And until the clock strikes midnight
Light the ground with fires
"Midnight" here could mean album number twelve. The album Midnights invited us to meet her at. Until then, she's setting fires. The imagery of burning the Lover house has appeared all through the Eras Tour, but setting fires also creates smoke. Smoke can shield you and create a diversion, allowing you to move unnoticed through the haze. Or it can create attention. As in the saying "there's no smoke without fire" - or, some truth in every rumor. A lot of little fires can end up creating a big cloud of smoke, that is hard to ignore.
Be as clever as a god
Translating seeds of hope
There's purpose in confusion
Slowly untangling the many ropes
The Greek goddess of wisdom and war = Athena.
The translating is being done by us, as we decipher Taylor's hints to find the seeds of hope in them. She's telling us the confusion is purposeful and in service to a bigger plan, and asking us to be patient.
Just some thoughts I had while rereading old riddles! The Aladdin thing especially struck me. I haven't seen anyone else interpret the lamp and the three desires this way
Interesting read! Here is the 🫚 poem:

The ‘Why?’
I think I’ve told only two people who know me in my real life that I run this blog. I don’t hide that I believe Taylor and Karlie are a couple but I typically stay quiet or shy away from the conversation.
I was much more vocal in the early stages of the Lover era which has lead some people in my life to think I’m crazy, even to this day years later. It bothered me for a while because if you knew me outside of here you’d know I am a reserved, analytical, and cautious person. Others finding my opinion on a topic laughable is a deep cut partly because I don’t go out on limbs to talk about things I’m not sure about. I’m more comfortable saying I don’t know, would have to look into it, etc.
I’ve grown to not care what those people think. Pivots happen. Lesson learned. I hold my cards closer now and don’t feel the need to convert others. To be here is to have an open mind and heart alongside an ability and willingness to peel back layers of an onion you are consistently told is an apple. We are a unique bunch.
All that said, when the idea of Taylor being anything other than straight comes up, people are receptive but there is always one thing everyone I talk to is stuck on. The why. It dawned on me tonight I’ve had several conversations over the years where this was what people were mainly hung up on. Their first inclination tends to be, “Why would Taylor mislead people for so long? For money? She is wildly rich! I think the greed would make me lose respect for her.”
Now I know if anyone on Taylor’s team were to read this, that wouldn’t be news. And that whatever plan they may have would obviously address the why. But I assume even the most seasoned Kaylor blogs here might agree that right now there is no easy elevator speech to explain what we believe is the truth in a way that people can digest. That’s the tricky part. And I understand our folklore version of the truth can’t be the main goal for the masses. But when the masses one day arrive at our blogs, how do we scoop years of years of drips splattered across the floor into a daisy filled vase in order to keep the folklore alive? I suppose that future state would like an alternative reality of today - the GP believes something closer to the real truth compared to today but only a small group will know the deeper folklore.
To me, it’s clear that Taylor and team hope we can keep our version of the truth alive, hence my rambling thoughts on a topic I think could cause some bumps down the road. If the why is weak, people will distance themselves.
I’m not looking for solutions. Just posting some food for thought.

Couple Songs Playlist Headcanons - Mareach and Luaisy Edition
When I was more active in the JoJo’s Bizarre adventure community on Instagram around 2019-2022, I was part of the art and ocs community.
Many people started doing stuff like making Spotify playlists of songs that describe their Oc and other oc relationship aspects. I remember finding this SUPER fun to do. And I miss it. So, I decided to try it out with Mario and Peach first! (Just a teeny break from my much-loved Luaisy fixation!)
So without further ado, here’s a list of songs based on what I can find in my (Many) Spotify playlists. A bit challenging to find good ones!
This will have labels indicating indicating who’s mostly singing about who. Either one person referring to the other, or a Duet that includes both at the same time.
❤️MarioxPeach🍑
- Mario to Peach -
On one side, Mario would have the thought that Peach is simply so amazing. Someone so elegant, pure and beautiful. Someone just way out of his league. These thoughts would often show through hints of resistance at first. He and the Princess are just friends…right?
But the moment he fully accepts his feelings, he becomes so outspoken of his love. So some songs I’ve decided to choose from my playlist, tend to be about wondering if Peach feels for him, like he feels for her. A bit of doubt. But other than that, he shows protectiveness, Being her shield to danger. Also A bit more impulsive, energetic and upbeat in some parts. But with no matter what, he will always give her words of reassurance to make sure everything is okay.
• Accidentally in Love - Counting Crows
• Dance - Tim Halperin
• Aquaman - Walk The Moon
• I’ll Always Return - Bryan Adams (Rock Version)
• Nintendo - Todd Carrey (This is more of a comedic tone to it haha)
- Peach to Mario -
Very sweet, reflective and thoughtful. The type of love that whenever she thinks of her hero, she gets so fluttery and bashful on the inside. She is more reserved her feelings though, so some songs may reflect her denying a bit. But ultimately, they all lead to just wholeheartedly accepting her feelings.
• Fallin’ for you - Colbie Callait
• Tightrope - Michelle Williams
• Lover - Taylor Swift
• Next to You - Jordin Sparks
• I feel the Earth Move - Olivia Ong
- Duets -
• The Fighter - Kieth Urban Ft Carrie Underwood
• Waiting for a Star to Fall - Boy Meets Girl
• Am I Feeling Love? - Steve Lively and Bobbi Page ( The Thief and The Cobbler unfinished film, titled ‘Arabian Knight’ for the Miramax version where this song is made.
———————————————————
💚LuigyXDaisy🌼
- Luigi to Daisy -
Luigi is the more sentimental type. One who thinks about the deeper meaning of his feelings. The one who’s able to find sweet comparisons and words when describing love with Daisy. He knows how timid he is. How easily scared he could be. Which is why He holds such admiration of how much of a free-spirited character she is. So some of his songs will reflect almost awe in her character. How much her presence alone just brings his feelings to life.
• Crush - David Archuleta
• Nothing I’ve ever known - Bryan Adams
• So Close - John Mclaughlin
• All That you are - Goo Goo Dolls
• Into the Night - Santana Ft Chad Kroger
- Daisy to Luigi -
The theme I tried to go with Daisy is of a supportive figure, or one that drives Luigi to improve and be the best of himself. Her words may seem to be a bit more forward with some songs. But mostly, she’s the one who has more of her feelings on her sleeve, and will have no problem expressing them more. She reflects more of the intense passion.
• Better When i’m Dancing - Meghan Trainor
• I’m Feeling You - Michelle Branch
• Brave - Sarah Bareilles
• My Superstar - Jessie J
• Kiss me Crazy - Kaci Battaglia
- Duets -
• Wild - Troy Sivan Ft Alesia Cara (A bit more of an intimate song?)
• At the Beginning - Richard Marx and Donna Lewis
• Don’t Let Go - Bryan Adams and Sarah Mclachlan

✯ Flawless - Sebastian Stan
it is a man's man's world
my materialist - the only way
Warnings and Information:
First of all, hello to all of you,
there are a couple of things I want to mention before we start the story.
Nora is a character I created myself. I based her character profile on Taylor Hill and Daisy Edgar Jones, but it is up to you to imagine her as you wish throughout the story :)
Nora first appeared on the Victoria's Secret Show in 2013. Taylor Hill made her debut on this runway in 2014. So, I will make some changes about the 2013 runway. I tried to go as close to real life as possible, but as I said, I want to focus on a specific period of time, so I won't bore you with too many details.

“Thank you so much for being here with me.”
As we stood together in the back, Sebastian planted a kiss on my cheek, all the while smiling his gorgeous smile at me. Today there was a press conference for the upcoming Captain America sequel, The Winter Soldier, and my beloved boyfriend was technically the lead in this movie.
I mean, he was giving the movie its title, he was definitely the lead.
Later that night Sebastian was at the fashion show with Chris Hemsworth and he caught me backstage and we quickly exchanged numbers. For some reason I couldn't contain myself and I told my friend the details of what had happened as soon as I got home. I was getting excited thinking about the idea that you had actually met.
The next day I got a message on my phone. It was from him. He asked how I was doing, expressed his desire to spend more time together and asked if I was free next weekend, which I gladly accepted.
After a date night, the two of us were kissing in the back seat of his car, unable to keep our hands off each other. I wished I had known earlier that the men in Romania were so talented, because if I had known about it I would have tried it a long time ago.
The only unfinished problem(s) was the fact that Sebastian was thirty and I was nineteen. I was a little skeptical - frankly terrified - about the reaction we'd get from his parents or family or the fans, but then I decided it would be healthier for this relationship to say screw it less. I was more than happy with this guy, and being here for Comic-Con this weekend was a dream come true.
“You support me, I support you.” I grinned, kissed his lips gently, ran my fingers through his long hair. The Winter Soldier filmed for one more week before it was over, but for the rest of the movie I was able to stay with Sebastian in Los Angeles, where I had a few photo shoots. And with this good timing, we were able to spend more time together.
As I looked around, I noticed famous faces - Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Scarlett Johansson, just to name a few. I couldn't believe that my world had somehow found a way to collide with theirs. Sebastian hugged me tighter before letting me know they were about to continue, which made me grin to myself.
“I'm going to take a seat somewhere in the crowd.” I winked when he pressed his lips to my hair. “See you there, Bucky.” I giggled.
“Who's Bucky?” Sebastian said with a slight smirk before I exited backstage and found my way to the front of the crowd. And without wiping the smile off my face, I started walking towards my seat.
✯
“Hey, you almost ready?” Marissa asked as she came over to my seat. We were currently in a hotel in New York City, and I had an upcoming show tonight, including the first appearance of me and Sebastian as a couple again. To say I was nervous would be a serious understatement.
“You've been quiet all day,” she giggled, taking a sip of her water. ”And that's so out of character for you.”
Marissa had been one of my dearest friends throughout my career, including Bella and Gigi Hadid, Barbara Palvin and a few others.
I shrugged my shoulders and nodded, looking at the clock, it was getting close to Sebastian's arrival time. The two of you would leave the hotel together and appear at Manhattan Center for the show.
“No problem.” I giggled and shook my head, and Marissa frowned and shook her head. She knew that if I just chose not to talk, she wouldn't bother me about anything. When we met four years ago, she had instantly figured out the paths I walked. And it was her ability to analyze everything and everyone around her so quickly that laid the foundation for our friendship. A friendship that has grown exponentially since the day we met. For which I was grateful, Marissa was one of those rare people who, unlike everyone else, could be a companion to me just by her silence.
I stood up from my seat as I walked over and grabbed my jacket. I was dressed in a black oversized leather jacket, a basic pair of Mom jeans and a black bustier. I was complete with a pair of black heels. My hair was pulled up in a sleek but messy bun, my makeup was natural but bold. When I arrived at the venue I knew the makeup artists would be with me.
The show was due to start at six tonight, three o'clock now, and we were all scheduled to be there promptly at four. I was right behind Marissa as she headed for the elevator, her heels clicking against the floor. I put my hands on top of hers and pressed the button for the first floor where the lobby was, trying to get used to the knot in my stomach at the idea of walking hand in hand with her.
I was still angry with Russell for putting me in this situation. He knew my backstory and Sebastian's, the turmoil it caused for both parties. He knew that and I couldn't accept that he had chosen to go against my wishes and move him forward.
When the elevator doors opened, I saw him.
My breath caught in my throat as he sat in one of the chairs in the lobby. He was wearing a charcoal-colored suit, his short hair disheveled yet combed, his face clean-shaven for the event. He was looking at his phone, jerking his thumbs on the screen.
Oh my God, Marissa murmured.
“Is that it,” I took a deep breath before I could say the words.
Time toplay my part!
“Sebastian,” I called, smiling slightly. He lifted his head, his blue eyes fixed on me. He realized that Marissa was standing there with her chin almost touching the floor. Sebastian quickly stood up and straightened his clothes before walking towards me. I bubbled behind my smile as he put one hand on my thigh and pressed his lips lightly against my cheek.
“Darling.” Then he smiled and held out his arm, letting me pierce my nerves.
His cologne passed through my airways and for a moment I almost hummed the fragrance but I remembered very quickly that he was evil.
He was the devil.
It was fiery.
It was intense.
Stop it, Nora!
Marissa's eyes nearly popped out of her head as she looked between us.
“Hollywood's hottest together again?” She gasped. I smiled and nodded, “We just needed time apart.”
Marissa beamed.
“I always knew you two would find yourselves back together, you're soul mates in every sense of the word.” She walked past me, winked at me and left the hotel. I didn't hesitate to lock eyes with Sebastian as he walked towards the outer door and the two of us walked out with our arms crossed. By then the paparazzi were already longing for the door. Flashes of light caught my attention.
Sebastian and I smiled for the cameras, I tried to put on my happy face, but there was a moment when I felt I might have frowned. “Are you two back together?!” A reporter asked hurriedly after both of us. The car waiting for us was right in front of us, and when the driver saw us, the back door opened.
“Sebastian Stan and Nora Walter are back together!” another was squeaking into the phone recording.
Yes, this was going to break the internet.
We both waited to settle inside the car. As soon as the door closed hard, I pulled my hand away from Sebastian's. I reached into my bag and pulled out the bottle of my hand sanitizer and squeezed a large amount onto my hands. This caused Sebastian to roll his eyes. “You're afraid of germs?” he scoffed.
“Says the one who begs for these hands to touch him everywhere.” Seb joked, looking out the tinted windows of the car.
Rolling my eyes, I crossed one leg over the other, keeping my distance from Sebastian.
“You better not fuck this shit up for me tonight, Sebastian.” I announced in a harsh tone that made Seb laugh.
“I hope you hang out at the podium. Sorry, put some effort into it and I won't get my wish. At least I want people to think that my girlfriend is really good at what she does.”
My eyes widened. “You're a selfish bitch!” I hissed, knowing full well that I put more effort and effort into this profession and training than anyone else.
“Then shut the fuck up and stop threatening me. It doesn't scare me.” He protested too easily, as if it were a trifle. “I swear, I will…” - “You'll kill me in my sleep. I've heard it so many times.”
My arms crossed over my chest as I blew the air between my lips. Twenty minutes later our car was pulling up at the scene, the press already gathered around.
“I hate my life.” I muttered under my breath as someone ran to the backseat to hold the door. Sebastian groaned, reaching out to take my hand, which made me squeal.
“Hey! Don't touch me!” I hissed as the doors opened, but instead of the dreaded scowl I quickly got the sweetest smile. Sebastian came out first, the press almost going crazy.
“Sebastian! Are you here for the fashion show? Does your romance have anything to do with his resumption with Nora Walter?” At that moment, I grabbed Sebastian's hand as he helped me to my feet, everyone went even crazier.
I smiled, and Sebastian planted a kiss on my cheek before the two of us entered the venue. The way he pressed his lips to my face almost made me scream, why was he putting so much effort into this! As soon as we were away from the buzzing paparazzi I pushed myself away from him.
“Stop doing that!” I hissed, wiping my face. “You're really going to wipe my makeup off.”
Sebastian laughed, shoved his hands in his pockets and walked in the other direction.
“Where the hell are you going?” I asked in confusion as Sebastian turned back to me to answer.
“To have a drink with Mackie and Evans so I don't have to talk to you. Shit.” With that, he gave me his thin middle finger and narrowed his eyes.
“But I thought you were supposed to be here?!” I growled. Sebastian's laughter scratched my ears, his back still turned to me as he walked away.
“Hopefully I'll be back in time to watch you fall flat on your face.” With that, he disappeared somewhere in the back and I just stood there, Marissa soon walked through the door.
“You little bitch, you didn't tell me you and that sexy ex of yours made it up!” He took my arm and turned me towards the pearl.
I went backstage with Marissa where everyone was, hoping no one would hear our fight.
I smiled as she nodded.
“He's cute, isn't he?” I grinned, rolling my eyes when she didn't look at me. I had a show to get ready for.

The Multidimensions Of Taylor's Art
I wrote this piece on Twitter back in May when people were very loud about the fact that trying to attribute a song to a muse was disrecpectful and was diminishing Taylor's art.
I think today is a good day to repost it:
Taylor Swift's art is multidimensional. She said it herself and as we keep repeating over and over again, she's a Mastermind.
The message she conveys with one song is larger than just being a good song with beautifully written lyrics.
I see a lot of people talking recently about how when people talk about the muses of the song they are "reducing" Taylor's art to her muses. And how gaylorism was somewhat "better" before because the focus was less on this.
(I would like to differ on this, but it’s a whole other conversation).
But Taylor's art is multidimensional and intentionally directed to her fans. ALL her fans.
In one song, she manages not only to create a masterpiece with incredible lyricism.
She also manages to include deep queer references, ingrained in queer history.
She also managed multiple times to reference queer arts, books, poems, artists etc.
Acknowledging all of it and appreciating it is, yes, very important. I mean, it's the core of her art and a beautiful part of gaylorism.
Who hasn't learned a lot about our own history all thanks to Taylor?
But while this part is very true. Taylor also manages to make sure in every song that we can identify the muse.
It has always been an important part of her artistry. Remember liner notes from Debut to 1989?
She even decided that it was not enough, and starting with reputation, she started including Taymojies, making sure you knew very well who and what that song was about.
But she doesn't even stop there. For most of her songs starting with 1989 all the way to Midnights, she's also making sure that you can identify said muse through her lyrics.
Ever wonder why, for most of her songs there's parallels you can easily make with social media posts, articles, interviews, videos etc?
She's making sure that she references things in her songs that will point to the muse and that you'll be able to track back with some simple google search.
All of this is very very clearly intentional.
She also uses the same imagery that she knows very well her fans can recognize since 1989 while talking about her muse.
Using recurring themes that she's well aware her fans (us) will associate with the person (Sun, gold, New York, daisies etc.)
But the depth of her work doesn't even stop there. She'll even use timestamps in her songs to communicate certain messages or references to certain persons. And this is when the length of the song is not simply intentionally referencing one person:
Ex Sweet Nothings: Karlie's birthday
And so much more…
This can clearly be qualified as pure genius. But she pushes it even farther.
If we take Midnights for example she even samples her songs to older ones to help you identify the time, the event or the muse this song references.
Lavender Haze - I Think He Knows
Question…? - Out Of The Woods
Maroon - King Of My Heart
And it's not even the end of the massive amount of information that she manages to put out in a 3-4 minutes song.
This is simply astonishing.
Her brain truly is amazing.
Her lyrics videos are made to help you identify what and who the song is about. With visual clues and very intentional uses of capital letters and comas.
For example: "Your Midas touch"
Making sure you know she's referencing king Midas who turned everything he touched into gold (gold again, interesting).
Or: "some name dropping sleaze tell me what are my Wordsworth"
From The Lakes, referencing the poet William Wordsworth.
And it still goes further. She will include small details in her songs that you'll pick up on if you pay attention but will fly right past most listeners. A sort of secret message for those who really pay attention.
Ex: in Getaway Car, when she sings.
"Ain't a circus, ain't a love story and now we're both sorry (we're both sorry)"
This is two girls singing "we're both sorry. Meaning the relationship she was trying to protect with this getaway car was with a girl. Once again pointing to the muse.
I already wrote a novel and I haven't even touched the music videos and tour visuals…
But her genius in songwriting doesn't even end there.
Because, if you don't know the muse or refuse to see it. She'll also manage to buy some plausible deniability in her songs so it kind of points to her PR relationships too.
Not much, just enough so that if you really want to believe those Hollywood stories, you can hold on to these lines/visuals and be happy.
But she manages to do so, while staying true to the real muse and not so much to the PR relationship.
A good example is Invisible String and the famous Yogourt shop line with the wrong shirt color.
If your life depends on Toe, it's enough to make you happy and you won't search much further.
However if you search a bit, you'll find out how she intentionally messed up the lyrics.
I could still go on and on about the depth, the genius and the complexity of her songwriting, but I think you see my point now.
She said it herself, her songwriting is painfully autobiographical. And she puts an immeasurable amount of effort in it to make sure you get the story right.
Dismissing the muse of the song to not reduce her work is just as bad as dismissing her queerness and all the references she does to it, to not "speculate" on her.
In both, of all the multidimensional approaches that she uses in her art. You are keeping yourself from enjoying and dismissing about 50% of her hard work. If not more when you include music videos.
Acknowledging her muses to the songs is not reducing anything but more embracing as much as you can the genius and hard work she puts behind every song and every artistic decision she makes.
And I'm not saying that you HAVE to acknowledge the muse or else you are not a true fan. Art is meant to be enjoyed differently by every person and at the end of the day you take what makes you happy, simple as that.
My point is to say that acknowledging the muse in her music is not reducing anything. Quite the contrary.

Over the next two days, we’ll be getting into all that and more with hours of presentations and deep-dive analyses. This is set to be a smallish, grassroots-y gathering—only 25 in-person campers are enrolled plus a dozen or so volunteers running the show. Meanwhile, about 300 remote Gaylors have signed up for streaming access to the learning sessions, building on the success of a virtual Gaylor summit that happened last year.
As a Gaylor myself, I’d be here even if Cosmo hadn’t sent me. I introduce myself to campers as we craft cute name tags for ourselves in the lobby of the Craigville Retreat Center. I meet Morgan, 30, who came here from conservative small-town Wisconsin, where she’s been living with her parents due to some unspecified tumult in her life. “I am desperate to be around gay people,” she tells me. When she heard about Camp Gaylore, “I jumped at the opportunity to come here and feel a sense of community.”
Paris, 25, a Boston-based attendee who grew up in Arizona, agrees. “With everything that’s happening legislatively right now, it’s really important to be able to find spaces where you’re able to be with like-minded individuals and feel safe and comfortable expressing yourself.”
Nevada, 25, a newcomer to the Gaylor realm, tells me they were able to attend only thanks to a scholarship the camp offered to defray the $350 tuition cost. “I really thought this was a dreamland that was completely out of reach for me,” they say. Just being here, in congress with others, feels like some kind of miracle.
So maybe I should revise: This weekend is about decoding Taylor Swift songs...but only sort of.
I didn’t travel far to get here, but I’ve come a long way. Four summers ago, I left my marriage to a straight man, right around the time Taylor released Lover. I had a passing familiarity with her oeuvre but didn’t consider myself much of a fan. I was crashing with friends—a lesbian couple—while searching for a new home and striving to create a more openly queer life for myself. With its pastel cover and pro-LGBTQ+ anthem “You Need to Calm Down,” Lover got a ton of airplay in that two-bedroom apartment. And the breakup songs—“Death by a Thousand Cuts,” “I Forgot That You Existed”—certainly spoke to me. But given everything I was going through, Taylor’s music felt like little more than a fluffy distraction.
Jump cut to the following July, when Taylor surprise-released folklore. Every lesbian I knew seemed weirdly excited for this album. With my divorce freshly finalized, I now had the bandwidth to dig in. I discovered Gaylor theories on TikTok and plunged into Taylor’s discography with an eye toward gay themes. For the first time, I listened—really listened—to 2017’s Reputation, an album marketed as Taylor not caring about her press coverage but could just as easily be about a secret queer romance powerful enough to blow up her life. This notion, of hiding in plain sight while inhabiting a straight-presenting persona, resonates deeply for me in queer readings of Taylor’s work.
Here at Camp Gaylore (alternately known as GayloreFest), the analysis is served up with mock-academic gravitas. “We all love to cosplay that we’re professors in this field of Gaylor education,” explains Madyson, 23, a camp co-organizer who hails from New York. To wit, the workshop lineup includes sessions like: “Darling, Everything’s on Fire”: An Exploration of The Hunger Games Through Taylor Swift’s Discography; Unpacking Parasocial Relationships: A Conversation in Favor of Imagination & Community; Friends of Fletcher: Themes in the Music and Visuals of Sapphic Singers & Songwriters; and “Now I’m Your Daisy”: Reimagining The Great Gatsby as Gilded Sapphic Fantasy.
What’s happening here is really nothing new—Gaylors are performing the kind of close reading that happens in pretty much every English lit seminar. For campers like Amanda, 30, a longtime Swiftie who discovered Gaylor theories during the pandemic while awakening to her own queerness, this interpretative exercise is more meaningful than the objective facts of Taylor’s sexuality. “I’m not over here trying to convert people like, ‘Hey, Taylor is gay, and it’s really important to me that you believe that,’” Amanda says. “It’s more about Taylor being this incredible writer who intertwines all these incredible things into her lyrics.”
“We are not the first gaggle of gays to go book a conference center and hang out with each other for a weekend just to talk and gab,” Madyson says. “It just so happens that we all met because Taylor Swift put out some bangin’-ass albums.”
“I don’t even care if she comes out,” Madyson adds. “I actually would prefer she didn’t because I think it’s more fun this way.”
After I check into my single room—a rustic BYO-bed-sheets situation—I return to the common area and settle in for the afternoon’s presentations. Remote presenters will be streaming from all over. A few campers here will be presenting too—streaming from a dedicated quiet room elsewhere on the property. In the common space, all sessions will be projected onto a wall.
And here I have to admit that I end up…not paying much attention to the material. In the best possible way, neither do many of the other campers. I watch as they focus on making friendship bracelets, add artistic flourishes to Gaylor-themed coloring pages, and paint each other’s nails. Chatty groups check in on solo folks: “Are you good by yourself? Would you like to come over here with us?” Sometimes a comfy silence envelops the room. A few campers even nap on couches, the presentation audio forming a sort of pleasant background drone.
This dynamic is striking in its chillness—different from most camps and retreats, where schedules are packed with structured group activities. Kae, a 26-year-old from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, much prefers the format here. Although Gaylor TikTok was helpful in “expediting” her awareness of her own bisexuality, she finds the noise of social media kind of bad for her mental health. Camp Gaylore feels like the 3D version of a friendly Gaylor group chat she joined on WhatsApp a few months ago, she says. “It’s nice, having a much smaller source of information and also a place where you can just be yourself and be accepted.”
Presentation topics aside, Taylor’s aura at camp is surprisingly scarce. The aesthetic is one of nostalgic/analog summer whimsy. Think: String lights and wildflowers. Salt air and disco balls. Strawberries and rainbow balloons. An activity table set up by camp staffers includes a deck of botanical oracle cards, the social-bonding game We’re Not Really Strangers, and a handful of book selections ranging from Emily Dickinson poems to contemporary works by queer authors like adrienne maree brown.
It’s almost as though the organizers plucked a handful of nice humans off the internet and closed tab on literally everything else, a welcome break. Gaylorism in general is Very Online—born on Tumblr, increasingly huge on TikTok. Along with Madyson, camp co-organizer Katie, 30, recently wrapped a popular Gaylor podcast called The Archers, the duo’s contribution to a booming cottage industry of queer-minded Swiftie content. (Madyson has already launched another pod.) Tess, 30, a London-based camp co-organizer, is a prolific Gaylor creator too. This camp is the group’s way of passing the mic to others to invite their perspectives, to “recognize the brilliance and beauty of our community,” as Tess puts it. There’s even been talk of starting a literary-style magazine that goes beyond Taylor and into the open waters of, well, gay lore. That’s why the camp name has an “e” at the end—an indicator of deeper possibilities.
Gaylor subculture has now gotten big enough to attract coverage from major media outlets, some of it less than favorable—a Salon article last fall compared Gaylors to QAnon. Many face harassment from a hostile cohort of Swifties known as Hetlors, notorious for a queerphobic insistence that Taylor is straight. Bullying from Hetlors has driven some Gaylors to go dark and wipe their social accounts, which explains why most here at Camp Gaylore have asked that Cosmo publish their first names only.
Taylor herself is outspoken in her LGBTQ+ advocacy—granted, as more of an ally. “I didn’t realize until recently that I could advocate for a community that I’m not a part of,” she told Vogue in 2019. But as many Gaylors like to point out, that’s not quite the same as Taylor declaring she’s 100 percent straight and cisgender either. For now, the details of her identity remain anyone’s guess.
“In a cisheteronormative world, we are more likely to assume people to be cis and straight until told otherwise than to assume they’re trans or queer,” says Melissa A. Fabello, PhD, a sex and relationships educator. Her group coaching session this weekend, titled “The Bisexuality Crisis,” will address this very subject.
Camp Gaylore’s idyllic seaside haven is blessedly Hetlor-free. Madyson, who sometimes struggles to socialize in groups, tells me they feel “soothed” mingling on our private stretch of beach. This weekend has always been more about reinforcing the Gaylorverse than dissecting Taylor’s suspected queerness. “It is very much for people to meet and see each other physically and be like, This community is just as real offline as it is online,” Madyson says. In the sand, they spell out GAYLORE in dozens of tiny seashells.
We head to dinner in the large dining hall for a taco buffet—a communal setup that amuses Nevada. “This is so sweet, like the positive parts of going inpatient at the psych ward,” they joke. Then an earnest elaboration: “It’s just nice that other people understand what I’m thinking. I don’t have to explain a million things. I don’t have to be like, Okay, I guess I’ll let you ignore my pronouns. It’s a very good space.”
Afterward, we gather around an outdoor firepit for s’mores and impromptu performances. One camper breaks out an acoustic guitar and shares songs she wrote during a period of homelessness. Her voice is husky and powerful—a howl of survival. A few campers pass around a bong. Inside jokes are hatched. “As cliché as it sounds, I do feel like I’ve known these people forever,” says Lee, 33, a camper from California who credits Gaylor theories with fueling her lesbian awakening seven years ago. For her, this night is “cathartic.”
In the 10 o’clock hour, everyone heads back inside to watch the livestream of the Eras Tour. This has been a ritual for many of us since Taylor hit the road in March. Lots of campers have been tracking the surprise acoustic songs she performs each night—one or two per show, with no repeats from the pre-Midnights archive unless she messes up.
Tonight, Taylor is in Pittsburgh. One member of the Gaylor community—not at camp with us but someone who’s friends with a few campers—has been publicly campaigning for Taylor to play “ME!” at this stop, a track many Gaylors love (see: the big gay energy of its music video). Taylor playing “ME!” would be everything, a definitive acknowledgement of us.
As the livestream plays, campers string together bead bracelets with Gaylor references—the letters “SITBTTEBM” (“She is the best thing that’s ever been mine”), the phrase “WIDE EYED GAYS” (an intentional misspelling of the “All Too Well” lyric). Then the first surprise song begins: It’s “Mr. Perfectly Fine,” off Fearless. Everyone groans. The second song is a miss too: “The Last Time,” from Red. So much for “ME!”
Everyone is super bummed. A few campers even cry a little bit. But there’s beauty in the heartbreak too—something profound and unifying in our shared disappointment. “Even if Taylor were to go away and never do another thing, I feel like we still have this,” Amanda tells me later. “And that’s really cool.”
The big social event of the weekend, on the second and final night, is prom. Given that it’s being held in the retreat’s tabernacle building, camp staffers have printed out a color picture of Jesus, along with big letters that spell out “LYRICS TOO?”—a cheeky nod to the fact that we’re in a house of worship but mostly a deep-cut Gaylor reference (to something once uttered by Taylor’s pal and collaborator Jack Antonoff). A tattooed camp staffer DJs from a heavily stickered laptop, next to a whirling party light that scatters rainbow beams throughout the space.
Many of our prom looks are encoded with Taylor allusions. One camper wears a tiered, ruffled frock in pastel hues, à la Taylor’s Lover era. Another, channeling the Reputation album art, dons a matching corset and skirt in newsprint-pattern fabric. Still another is turned out in the crochet crop tank Taylor wore while promoting Midnights, its colors a near-perfect match for the lesbian pride flag tacked to one wall.
“Cruel Summer”—a Gaylor fave, theoretically chronicling Taylor’s rumored relationship with supermodel Karlie Kloss—blasts from the speakers. The dance floor fills up. We scream-sing the lines about sneaking in through the garden gate, about the shape of a lover’s body being new. As the song reaches its bridge, our collective joy turns incandescent.
“It felt like 70,000 of us in the room,” Lee marvels the next day as campers pack up to leave. “This was the most magical weekend of my summer—and I’ve been to the Eras Tour twice.”

please i need colinjamie headcanons or prompts i’ve been deprived of them for too long
i am. so so sorry for how late this is. and how uncoordinated the rest of this will probably end up being, but, just, ima unleash random colinjamie thoughts on u and hope it makes sense lol and that you enjoy them, but since idk how long it'll end up ima put everything under the cut
random hcs
colinjamie have definitely watched the owl house at some point. maybe this is fresh in my head since the final episode just came out a few days ago, but i definitely see colinjamie watching the owl house together. two options:
maybe colin was chilling with his niece (i want colin to have a niece or a nephew so bad, he gives uncle vibes and also i want jamie to interact with the kid at some point too) and she was watching it and he got invested. and then jamie got invested via colin. OR. henry was visiting the stadium on spring break and mentioned the owl house to jamie, who was curious, watched and episode, and then got invested. flash forward to colinjamie fwb era and colin dropping by one day and finding jamie losing his shit over the episode hollow mind. jamie needs to lose his shit with someone and colin is the poor soul who came over for a hook up but ended up having to watch two seasons of a disney cartoon.
that being said, i also think that jamie, if he ever watched avatar the last airbender as a kid, only ever watched until mid season 2. life got more complicated and he was more concerned with playing well than "lazy" things like cartoons. he never got to zuko standing up to his dad. he'll get there someday, it's gonna be great
colinjamie have a unique sense of style that they somehow make work, it drives so many people mad
colin had a crush on lightning mcqueen when he was a kid. (11 years old? idk how old colin is, so im putting him at 28 in s3, making him 11 when cars came out) he thinks about this childhood crush and figures its pretty telling that he's got a speedy car and a cocky but talented boyfriend
jamie is dyslexic, and when he realized audiobooks existed, he was thrilled. still, his favorite way to experience books is to have colin read them out to him.
that being said, his favorite way to enjoy drake is to have colin rapping along
colin takes jamie along to theater performances, musicals, and the ballet.
jamie found the "whose the worm now" moment so hot. he can't let colin find out
random prompt
prompt #1
so this might be because i just re read the seven husbands of evelyn hugo, daisy jones and the six, and carrie soto is back, as well as binging all of the daisy jones and the six show, and have been listening to taylor swift all month, but i am craving something specific?
like, i am so here for an au with actor or pop star jamie (have y'all heard phil dunster's voice?) and richmond player colin hughes. its giving posh spice and david beckham.
just the different flavors of it all. if we have it in modern times, as in, the time ted lasso is set in the show, we can do so much. (we can also have a colin who is not actually a fan of his bf's music. it's not that he hates it, it's just not his style. jamie knows this, and writes songs about colin anyways. colin loves listening to these songs regardless of them not being his style.)
then of course there is the other option--i am so bad at timelines and math, so dont come for me when this is all wrong, but i, on my 7 husband of eh kick, was like omg?? give me hollywood star jamie tartt and football player colin hughes who are "roommates."
prompt #2
im a sucker for vampires and vampire hunters. i think it can go either way for them in terms of whose the vampire and whose the vampire hunters.
prompt #3
a canon divergence au where colinjamie were dating s1. jamie and keeley were dating prior to his loan to richmond and stayed friends after their breakup. he really did love her, but still hadn't learned to be accountable yet. keeley still comes around to the club bc she's jamie's best friend and wants to test the playing field with roy.

3, 5 (for "the lightness of a foreign sky") and 45 please!
3. What are some tropes or details that you think are very characteristic of your fics?
trope wise… I either write hard-won joyful/bittersweet cathartic endings, shawshank redemption prison escape scene style, or write about lesbian psychological torture with no in between. or worldview clashes and parries and mutual respect as the height of romance, detached from actual common romantic gestures like kisses or [romantic milestones], that are romantic exactly because romance is beside the point /o\ I love dwelling in ambiguity!
also, based on what I’ve heard from friends:
endemically melancholic voice/perspective, or: "your writing gives me sad vibes?"
alliteration disease; I like to daisy-chain similar words together. some egregious examples: "respite repeated reservedly", "all affectation effaced". and I enjoy playing with words close in sound but not meaning (e.g., "fit for the museum of a bed, not so much the mausoleum of a marriage")
not an angst or fluff writer but a secret third thing: a realism writer; "there's nothing exaggerated just to induce pathos in your works [...] your writing is more about the extrapolation of themes and ideas canon has already left there." (cr @bothzangetsus)
surgical prose, absence of filler: "If your writing was a steak it wouldn't have any of the fat in it."
a preoccupation with aftermaths, catharsis or post-catharsis; separately on characterisation: "you have a way of capturing a person who feels almost tired of their own complex motives."
I try to avoid what brandon taylor calls trite physicality, but I can also forget that people are embodied beings and are made up of parts other than eyes, mouths, and lungs, and disapproving hand gestures
5. What do you wish someone would ask you about the lightness of a foreign sky? Answer it now!
just going to use this as a blank cheque to ramble:
some commentary on the source material first -- one of black water sister’s big aspects is how it depicts the experience of inhabiting different, sometimes clashing, cultural contexts unevenly, all distilled through but not revolving around the metaphor of being a lesbian; the main character is jess, a malaysian-american lesbian who returns to her parents' hometown in penang, malaysia.
I like that it wasn’t strictly a story about lesbianism as such, and was defter about it, using it as one element to evoke commentary about insider/outsider positions in culture. it also imploded usual conventions in malaysian fiction about divisions between the westernised, cosmopolitan affluent overseas malaysian and local, 'left behind' malaysians, who are often more invisible and considered parochial characters in the global fiction landscape; jess's grandma and her literally share a body and her grandma is a tour de force in her own right, strategically overpowering jess at points, but they also work together. it also couched ah ma's (jess's grandma) nonplussed-ness and then eventual roundabout acceptance of jess's sexual orientation not in terms of... contemporary americanised scripts about sexuality and coming out but developed a vocabulary that was more organic to the malaysian context ("aiyah, we dealt with so many ghosts and spirits and corporate espionate and the odd pontaniak throughout this book, you being a pengkid is the least of our problems", in a paraphrase of how it... happened).
also, at the start, jess is conversely a fish out of water in her 'native' malaysia, unused to hokkien and unable to fully participate in cultural rituals at first despite being aware of them; she literally gets shuffled around by her relatives at extended family gatherings.
i'm usually prejudiced against southeast asian diaspora fiction that only focuses on appealing main characters/subjects, like well-educated overseas people whose inner worlds and struggles are held up as far richer and sophisticated and cultured than 'backwards' locals in their homelands -- as if alienated cultural elites represent the height of their communities' socioeconomic/cultural woes and ills -- but this pushed back against some of those assumptions, so i was pleasantly surprised. i like that zen cho puts jess through the grinder in struggles where her harvard accolades and accomplishments have little objective use. although jess struck me as a little naive at points for someone who graduated from harvard. then again, having met people from the ivy league/other top universities... i believe it, honestly.
I got feedback on this that Jess reads as far more familiar with Singapore than she would be as someone who'd only been there a few times as a child, and I totally take point on that, and wish I could've incorporated more lines about that uneven inhabitation of cultural identities i mentioned earlier. this is more an explanation than justification of why i wrote it that way: I don't like writing about places from the viewpoint of a tourist gaze, gawking at spectacles or common motifs (too much... othering fiction about malaysia/singapore that could otherwise be good reaches for the easy setting details like humid sweltering temperatures, palm trees, durians, etc.), so I left in a lot of details in a way that presumes jess is used to them.
so, sorry jess! I butchered your characterisation somewhat! but I liked writing this.
I also wanted to give more attention to the lesbian interracial relationship (especially a malaysian chinese-singaporean indian one, unlike the more common white-poc interracial relationships you see in media) that was present in the canon.
45. What's something you've improved on since you started writing fic?
I like 'unlocking new sentences' as a mutual of mine once put it, and I think I'm better at that; also incorporating dialogue; I still wish I wrote in a more breezy or conventionally palatable (read: less dense) way! but I've resolved that the first person I want to please when I write is myself and my own impulses of creativity, so.
I'm going to sidetrack and be negative/critical for a second: I recently participated in a class exercise where my classmates shared pieces of fiction/poetry they'd written, and the originality and agility of their turns of phrase and unexpected combinations 1) sobered me, because it reminded me how depressingly 'safe' a lot of ao3 fare and even pubbed fiction is out there (in both content and the question of aesthetics, and I include myself in this), 2) sparked joy and desire in me to experiment again. so with that I leave some quotes that express why I enjoy writing: because i view it as an opportunity to participate in a linguistic laboratory, exploding and pushing at the limits of expression:
Within Surrealist culture, chance was worshipped as a kind of spirit guide, a trickster who could jam the conveyor belt of deductive logic. Gatherings centered on word games, blind selection, collage, and collaboration. In Exquisite Corpse, a paper was passed around the table, each writer folding over what they had written, a systems approach to narrative that produced phrases like The wounded women disturb the guillotine with blond hair. The point was to elicit dissonant analogies, cross-pollinated metaphors, images that were shocked to find themselves as bedfellows. Many of the poets relied on collage techniques, cutting up newspaper stories and reassembling them into odd configurations.
and writing is a medium that allows me to reach for the simplest form of transformation: making sure the word that follows isn't the expected one
I write to be read. I’m not an experimentalist. But while I don’t think my writing is unclear, it’s not to everyone’s taste. I think some people prefer a kind of journalistic plainspokenness, even on the question of aesthetics, which is not my impulse. Very early on in my “career,” an editor said to me, “You do something that we don’t really do here. I noticed that in your sentences, the word that comes next isn’t exactly the word you’d expect to come next.” And I remember thinking: of course it fucking isn’t. Otherwise why would I write it?
(fic writer asks)

Hi! I'm sorry I took a few days to reply. Omg I'm so sorry you don't have a voice right now! That sounds so awful. Just try to drink as much water as possible I guess and hopefully it gets better. I think baking is a lot easier for me too..just because I don't make that many cooking recipes or anything and it's harder to know what dishes to make. I also think it takes a lot longer and same here..everyone is better at it than me and never gives me enough time to learn or anything. But I definitely think it will be a New Year's resolution for me to work on it more and just try harder. I hope your voice has at least gotten a little better since I last replied to you and that you're feeling better overall. Hopefully you can start the new year healthy but I hope you feel better sooner than that haha. The only time I've ever lost my voice is at concerts. I remember after my Taylor show, my sister lost her voice and couldn't talk for three days..but I've never had laryngitis. Well I also enjoy apple pie and I'm a fan of most desserts actually.
I think I will be happy with any vault songs she gives us and some of those are familiar to me too. I'm not sure why she didn't release Let's Go (Battle) but I think Need could be put on rep eventually..even if we know it's for Lover, it almost sounds more like rep. But it also reminds me a little of False God too so I'm not sure. I think she will add Beautiful Eyes to debut honestly which would be good since I don't really listen to it. The holiday album I'm more iffy on but I guess it could come this year maybe? I think I heard a rumor about it so idk.
Well I think I might have been confusing that one with NFU cuz he says I just miss the way that we talk..but I agree that I should give it another listen. But I really liked that one, and Glitter and Honey. I'm sorry you couldn't make the concert..that's such a bummer. Btw Saw you in a Dream is one of my fav songs ever but I actually haven't heard many other songs..just a few besides her newest album and maybe her EP before that. I don't actually know what my vinyl player looks like because it's unopened so I have not played anything on it yet but I hope you find what you're looking for and get lucky.
I liked him and think he will do good in the role but only saw one clip so far which was Wait For Me. I will have to look for more. Ooh who is the euryidice stunt cast? I hadn't heard about it. I still haven't got a chance to watch the parade performances or any Dancing performances actually. The only thing I saw was Taylors tour choreographer talking about the Vigilante Shit chair dance which is cool. She is the same choreographer who worked on the La La Land movie so that's pretty cool and I love the dancing in that movie so maybe I will watch a few. I also like the dancers in the tour during Lover and Enchanted.
Well I guess one goal I have is to finish more books that I start lol. Then of course finish the ones I'm in the middle of right now which is going to be paired up with a few on the list. My sister wants to read more too and I have a few in mind we can read together already that we never got to..which is the ones about twins and also the Night Circus. We also started Daisy Jones together a long time ago. Read more books that I own and are on my shelf and I made the goal of reading two books a month so far so we'll see how that goes. Wow that also is the same number of the year which is 24! So hopefully I stick to that. I also said that this year and failed miserably lol. I think I only read two full books this year and maybe two I was in the middle of from the previous year lol. Or maybe I will try to finish one or two I'm in the middle of right now before the year ends. I do not know many upcoming releases yet but Emily Henry and Carly Fortune are definitely two I'm looking forward to and the If he had been with me sequel. So I am supposed to reread that with my sister maybe next month since it comes out in February I think. Or Night Circus and Starless Sea too..idk cuz maybe those will take more than a month though. If you have any other books you think we can read together this year let me know. There is also the Today Tonight Tomorrow sequel and I hope to read the first one as it gets closer. What are some upcoming ones you're looking forward to?
So the movie was good! Like it was a pretty good and faithful adaptation I think. But I also didn't love it as much as other people really seem to either. It felt like they changed a few little things from the book or maybe just cuz I speed read it..oops. Although I'm not sure if you would get it as much if you didn't read the book..like if it would be confusing. I filled in a few things for my sister for example. I feel like the narration in the book made things clearer that was hard to show in the movie. The performances were good though at least. I liked the songs but I need to listen to the soundtrack again. It did not feel like the kind of movie I would wanna watch again really and it was kinda long. In fact it just made me want to rewatch the Hunger Games again and those movies were a lot better. It's just my opinion though I guess. I do like all the edits I've been seeing or connections and reading people's analysis though. I think we are also going to see the Renaissance movie this weekend too and I will probably enjoy that more lol. Although I'm worried it looks more like a documentary of the tour than the full concert..which kinda sucks cuz we didn't get to go.
I know she's been working on it a lot so I guess I wonder what will happen. What genre would you hope for in her new music? I've always wanted her to try more rock honestly so it makes sense why I loved I Can See You so much. I know it might be about her breakup though so I'm not really sure. Red also had hints of rock like State of Grace which is another one of my top favorites so I still have some hope. I also wonder if the music she's working on now could be for her upcoming film too..which it seems like no one has considered. That's so awesome that you saw all of your faves live this year..omg! If I ended up going to Paramore..then I could have said the same haha. They are definitely going to be one of my top artists haha. So I got Say Don't Go right technically but I think that was the only one. I also forgot that she already sang Afterglow or else I wouldn't have guessed it. Yes omg! I think that was my favorite pairing of these shows but I would've been fine with Innocent and Now we don't Talk. I love Say Don't Go but dislike it's Time to Go lol. Now that she's resetting the surprise songs next year, it will be harder to guess..which also makes it more fun! She also says there's extended version of the movie for her bday but didn't mention Cardigan in that list. Also she just put You're Losing Me on streaming finally. Maybe I will finally appreciate this song more but its also kinda just there for me lol. I wish I liked it more. I think it's honestly one of my least favorites out of all the songs she has released this year so hopefully TS11 has better songs. I hope you feel better and continue to have a good week. Happy wonderful Wednesday!!! 🩷
hi friend !! it has been ... ten (?) days without a voice now, which is just very frustrating but i'm mostly still in good spirits! the one downside is that my friend is coming into town friday through sunday, and i'm worried i won't have a voice by then still. but i can't really do anything about that, so we'll see. might have to continue doing text to speech robot voice! it's her first time in seattle too which makes it all the more interesting! but yes, staying hydrated, sitting next to the humidifier and just hoping i'll feel better soon! i went back to my best friend, the doctor's, and he gave me some new medication yesterday so hopefully that'll do it's magic soon! i'm surprised that i didn't lose my voice from eras weekend at all, but i did from boston (although that one is more so because i got sick → got laryngitis). guess it also makes a huge difference that eras took place over the summer!
what's your favorite dessert? mine is a toss up between black forest cake (what my mom makes for my birthday every year), tiramisu, and chocolate cake! but i also love oatmeal raisin cookies (probably my personal favorite thing to bake). my mom's also really good at baking bread, and i definitely need to pay more attention to her little tips and tricks when she does!
oh i could see the false god/need comparison! two of my close friends really want need to be released, and i hope it is for their sakes! i would loveeee the holiday album to come soon but i feel like it might be a "end of tour" gift next year? maybe? if tour is even over by then?
i was listening to i miss you already + i haven't left yet on vinyl yesterday as i worked! was thinking of you 🤍 i do think i still like his debut album more than i miss you already, but i also have listened to that one more/longer/etc. so maybe it's just recency bias! i feel like i'm starting to get burnt out (?) on new music? if that makes sense. but i'm also really excited for the holly/MUNA into your room, and then noah kahan/gracie abrams everything everywhere remixes that come out this week! but i think that's different since it's not new new music? i've been listening to fruitcake ep by sabrina carpenter a lot though! that one's really fun. saw you in a dream is soooo good and i also really like f a r a w a y ! but sunshine baby is definitely my favorite.
i heard rumors about lizzy mcalpine as eurydice? which i don't know how to feel about! for many reasons! here's an audioboot, if you're so inclined! i did see that quote and i thought that was really cool! i'm really excited that eras movie will be on streaming; i've got like ~ $25 amazon digital credits saved up, so i'm going to be streaming it on her birthday i think! just a little something fun! i notice new things every time, and i like picking a dancer — or two — to focus on! i would love to see a a BTS documentary of eras after it's done; i'm so curious about the quick changes, the rehearsal process, etc.
two books is still two more than you previously read! it's not a competition, and reading is supposed to be fun!! i almost started a new book tonight but i was too tired and then i remembered i haven't replied to you yet so i grabbed my laptop to do so! i think i'm going to try to work more on my les mis/night circus annotations tomorrow, and that'll probably be the last time i get to read until sunday or monday! i also need to update my reading thread — and make my 2024 reading tracker in google sheets! so much to do! i usually do a post on my book blog for 2024 anticipated releases, but i'm SO out of it that i can't even think of anything aside from my friends' books that are coming out!
i've never seen the hunger games movies aside from the first one, but i think what i want to do is do a series reread, watch the movies, read tbosas, then see it? maybe? or maybe read them all then watch them all? i have no idea! but all my friends have been talking to me about it and i have to be like WAIT I HAVEN'T READ IT YET DON'T SAY ANYTHING !!! it definitely has taken over my entire fyp, and i'm always in awe of how good people's editing skills are! i hope it's the full concert; you'll have to let me know how it is since i won't be seeing it for a while (if i end up seeing it)!!
i'm also not the biggest fan of it's time to go! i love the "but i've got me" line and think it's so symbolic of how this entire tour has been for her, and hearing her sing it live has definitely made me like it a bit more but i'm still not the biggest fan of it for some reason! out of all the surprise song combos in 2023, which one was your favorite? i wonder if cardigan will be on the streaming version, or in a physical DVD exclusive? we'll just have to wait and see! feels weird for her to exclude just cardigan. i did not expect her to release YLM today! i woke up and my phone was blowing up from friends about it haha! i do like it more with you know, proper production, dolby atmos, etc. and not ripped from an audio somewhere, but it's definitely not my favorite!
hope you have a good rest of your week!! 🤍 are you doing anything fun this weekend/anything you're looking forward to in december? love you!

I hope that Taylor doesn't give Olivia a hard time over Olivia's song The Grudge seemingly referencing Karlie tagging her as the Big Sur dashboard daisy and implying that the daisy aka Taylor is full of vitriol with the lyric "Ooh, your flower’s filled with vitriol"; the 's contraction at the end of a word like Olivia used at the end of flower means either is, has or us, meaning that that lyric is supposed to be read as "Ooh, your flower is filled with vitriol" which is what makes the lyric read like a dig towards Taylor about being tagged as the dashboard daisy by Karlie.
Taylor can be an outright asshole to people she has a beef with but the only other person that Taylor's had a beef with that said something that could be read as a dig towards Taylor about something to do with Karlie was Yael Braun and Taylor destroyed Yael's life in return. It'd be really shitty of Taylor if she tried to take down a kid who's not even old enough to be allowed alcohol for saying something Taylor didn't like because the kid is understandably and rightfully hurt that Taylor let her fear of being replaced as an artist make her treat this kid who idolized her worse than dogshit.
i didn't take this song to be referencing the dashboard daisy (although lacy made my ears perk up with "eyes white as daisies"!) but i unfortunately do wonder if there was a specific taylor reference being made with the "your flowers filled with vitriol" line, or even a more vague metaphor referring to her.
i've been struggling with this song because my mind has been infiltrated with this feud narrative but i just can't believe things went down the way people say they did. it's all very confusing to me and i've seen/read things that make me wonder what really went on, but i just cannot believe that taylor would ever do something like this. maybe something happened and olivia did get upset with taylor, or maybe she's not singing about taylor at all. i doubt we'll ever know. olivia seems to be practicing secrecy as far as subjects go. but the popular version of this story just doesn't make sense.
i agree that it would be super shitty if things went down the way people say they went down. so shitty, in fact, that i just do not believe it. i don't know much the songwriting credits stuff but if things even went a little bit how people say, then i imagine it was a legal thing between lawyers, not a personal call between the two women in which one was mean and chastised (and traumatized...) the other. i just don't think that matters like this are handled that way. maybe some other tumblrinas more connected to the music industry can weigh in about that.
but also..... i know none of us actually know taylor as a person. we don't. but we've witnessed how she behaves for the past two decades and everyone who has ever met her or worked with her in any capacity only has glowing gushing positive things to say about her. that says a lot to me. taylor works all the time to raise up others, empower and advocate for others. why people are so eager to believe this bizarre story about her being so insecure and jealous and trying to sabotage another artist's career, i will never understand.
and did taylor destroy yael's life? i dont think she did. if anything, one could argue that scooter did that... but i like to picture taylor and yael thick as thieves now ;) she got the house got the kids got the pride, right?
#working hard to avoid 'she would never do that!!' statements#but come on guys#haven't y'all been around for a while...?#i understand that it's important to avoid blind hero worship#and i dont think i'm there#i have been very disappointed by her choices in the past#but this feud story... doesn't fit the pattern of the character of the person we have been watching for almost 20 years

CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Dahlia Valentine Age: 27 (Looking) / 29 Gender: Cisgender Female Pronouns: She/Her/Herself Species: Vampire Face claim: Anya Taylor-Joy Character Occupation: Waitress at Daisy's Den & Freelance Photographer Neighbourhood of residence: The Brewery Affiliation: Unaffiliated Length of stay in Holloway: One year
CHARACTER SUMMARY
There is something odd about Dahlia Valentine. You hear her name and off the bat you just know she's a little different than everyone else, like she was plucked out of the wrong century. Those in Holloway see her and whisper, just as all small towns do, of the pretty girl with the watery eyes and the way she wears her attitude like a too-big coat, but they always leave out the most important parts of her. Born to a set of artistic, altruistic, and aloof parents, she too was destined to follow in their footsteps somehow. A sculptor like her father, a violinist like her mother, it didn't matter, it was practically written in the stars. Though she never really tried to fit into any mold - worked hard to pass her classes with flying colors and graduating with honors simply to get out of the stifling grip of private boarding school education - the way she could capture the world through a lens was undeniable. It helped that she found her own sort of confidence and intuition in it as well, excelling in taking portraits, offering another angle, a new perspective, a brighter side of things for those who stepped in her line of sight. She was lovely in all manners, from the way she relaxed people to how she always had some wise and philosophical quote tucked away for just the right moment. That drive and love, for both photography and people, took her all around the world starting at the prime age of eighteen, encouraged by her parents money and their desire for her to make a lasting mark on the world just as they had. From Tokyo to Brazil to Scotland, Dahlia spent years seeing just what it had to offer - the majesty and mystery, culture and creativity, and all of the darkness in between.
London was where the world was ripped away from her. She had settled there at twenty-seven. Her photography career was at an all-time high, her passport filled to the brim with locations and stamps to show that she had the experience, knowledge, and guts to cement herself in the history books. People knew her name, knew her face, knew her talent. She was doing just what destiny had planned, even opened up a studio to sell her services and photographs to those who had an eye for the arts. When a man had walked in at twilight, just as she was closing up for the evening, she had thought him just another socialite or aristocrat who wanted something to decorate his third vacation home. She had offered him her sweetest smiles and most formal tones, talked at length about her process and her favorite captures from years past. She thought it was just a sale. She didn't even fully commit his face to memory because she thought it so inconsequential. But this stranger in the nice shoes wasn't there for the art. He was there for her. It was a deliberate, purposeful act. It was clean. He killed her, tore into her throat, left her bloodless and on the cusp of darkness, and then brought her back. Like he'd done it a hundred times before. And then he just left her, on the proverbial cutting room floor, sweat-drenched and sticky with her own death. As if all he had wanted to do was destroy pretty things.
News of Holloway had come to her in the same way much of the other things in her life did - like fate and destiny, like a red string wrapped around her wrist. It was a place she was hearing about more and more, as her nights were getting longer and her days were getting shorter, as her wardrobe shifted into darker and more conservative colors, as her teeth began to hurt and a hunger churned her stomach like never before. A refuge, a neutral ground, a place to learn more of what she had become. So, she packed all she could, sold the rest, left her studio to an old friend, and for one last time, got a passport stamp, to America. Landing in the States and finding her way to Holloway felt like the ultimate stake in the chest. It felt like she had to start all over again, now. It was real. Getting a job as a waitress at a wine bar, taking photographs only when she could and under a pseudonym, renting her first one-bedroom flat all on her own. She was too soft for all of it, all of the change, having to cut herself off from the world she had spent so much time building and loving. Her tenderness and love of art had to be shelved for simple survival. It made her sad, more than anything, but she didn't want anyone to see her as prey. Not again. So she tries to cover it with attitude, snide comments and sharp words, coming off like a bratty teenager at best and a petulant rich girl at worst. But she doesn't care. As long as she is seen as someone to avoid, to fear, she will continue baring her teeth and flashing her fangs at any who dare cross her, even if it puts her fresh identity at risk.

Book Review: Daisy Jones and the Six
Title: Daisy Jones and the Six Author: Taylor Jenkins Reid Number of Pages: 368 Genre: Historical Fiction Rating: 5/5 Reviewed by: Anonymous
Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid is the fictional story of aspiring musicians trying to make it big in the music industry. Taking place in California during the late sixties, the book is filled with the alluring atmosphere of partying, dancing, and entertainment. What will happen when Daisy Jones, a solo artist, and can’t take your eyes off of her kind of woman, and The Six, a rising band from Pittsburgh encounter each other and click immediately?
Although I’m an avid reader, not usually leaning toward this genre, once I picked up Daisy Jones and the Six, I wondered why I had waited that long to read it. With Reid’s unique writing style, an enticing plot, and constantly changing character relationships, I could not put the book down. In all of the books by this author that I’ve read, I’ve always felt as if I was right there with the characters the whole time, Daisy Jones especially. This is the type of book where you go searching online afterwards for news about a sequel, adaptation, anything you could think of, you can’t get enough. I feel at some point throughout reading I had felt connected to most of the characters in their own individual ways. To start… Daisy! Though some may dislike her for some of her actions or words, I aspire to be as firm and confident as she is while at the same time feel as free and wild as she does. Then there’s Billy, again he’s a controversial character, but it’s impossible to not empathize with him although some of his actions I find unjustifiable. I could go on and on about how much I love these characters - Daisy, Billy, Camila, Karen, Graham, Warren, Eddie - but there’s so much more to love. The book is written in an interview style, so you can follow along with the plot through each person’s point of view, leaving you questioning what truly happened in each scene. I was engaged with the plot the whole time, I probably read it in less than two days, I just couldn’t put it down.
What really confirmed how much I loved this story was when I found out their was a soon to be released TV show adaptation which is out now, in addition to real recorded music using the lyrics the author wrote herself. The bonus was that the TV show was just as amazing as the book, and the album was on repeat for the following weeks.
I would 100% recommend this book. Since it’s historical fiction I believe it could appeal to a large range of people but there’s also a romance sub plot which may not accommodate everyone’s tastes. I would even encourage those who liked or didn’t like Daisy Jones to check out Taylor Jenkins Reid’s other books as they all have their own unique plots. I’d rate this book a 5/5, one of my favorites to this day. All in all, Reid shared an intriguing story that I hope reaches more people than it already has.
