laurie riley can remember the 2011 attacks as if it was yesterday.

she was just a little girl, adopted in the right family at the wrong time, you could say. she didn't necessarily remember her past all that well, not before being taken in by the sheriff, at the time, dewey riley and his wife, the famous reporter, gale weathers. she didn't know of dewey's promise to her mother shortly before her death either. all she ever had of her biological parents was a expensive piece of jewerly that she was sure was the most expensive thing that she had ever owned growing up, a heart shaped necklace with small diamonds on the corners of the heart. inside, was a picture of her.

she had been locked away, confided in the very same bedroom she had fallen asleep in earlier that night, after her babysitter, kirby's friend, charlie, had ordered her some mcdonalds, agreeing with a forced smile to look after the girl while her parents were...busy. truth be told, she hadn't meant to wake up. it was the eerie silence that had stirred her awake, the ticking of the clock being the only thing that had rung in her ears, aside from the muffled sound of whatever movie jill had put on for the young girl that, in a weird way, you could consider her adopted cousin, considering of how highly sidney had spoke about the sheriff, that it only made sense to think of each other as family, right? her little feet tiptoed their way out, taking a quick peek around both corners. nothing. this wasn't normal. she had never felt such a feeling before, but she felt the skin jump out of her body hearing a muffled whimper from outside...seemingly on the porch?

the rest was a blur. kirby was being practically cradled by the boy she had trusted with her entire life, a knife lodged deep into her stomach, breaking and cutting through skin a little with the amount of force by the blows. she hadn't meant to make noise, and neither of them had meant for her to walk in on what was something that a child never should have experienced. but it was a fight or flight type of situation, and maybe if she was just a little older, she could have taken him on. but she was much smaller, thinner. and it was how quick he removed the knife and walked toward her had sent her falling on her ass. she hadn't recognized the smile that was on his face. near damn carnivolific, with small little fangs bearing that she took off as soon as she could. but she didn't make it far, as she barely managed to shut the door as charlie had made it, swinging the dripping weapon with intent, but only engraving the door. she had managed to get a smaller dresser shoved against it, and eventually, she heard him yell something, though it only sounded like a muffled curse before walking away. no one else ever came to that door.

though she heard it all. despite how desperately she tried to drown out the sounds, by the tv playing distinctively in the background, to covering her ears and rocking back and forth as it all got louder.

stabbing. crying. yelling. more yelling. gunshots. more noise.

she couldn't help but scream feeling a pair of hands on her shoulders, a undescribable feeling of dread had filled her poor heart that night. she was so sure that charlie had came back. to finish the job. but once her vision cleared, and the ringing slowly eased enough to hear, she could make out the silhouette of who was most certainty her dad's friend! someone that...gale didn't seem to care for. but to her, it was all she needed, hugging onto her as soon as she could. she could just cry until she couldn't anymore, and judy hicks just held her. shushed her, rocked her back and forth as if she were her own. it felt nice.

"gale? gale, she's in here!" the blonde shouted, as she focused her gaze instead on the familiar uniform that they shared, her cries turning into light whimpers, her heartbeat slowly coming back down to normal. she didn't hear much of what judy and gale were saying, she felt both women searching her body intensly, before realizing there was a small cut on her hand. so it only seemed right to take her to the hospital where jill, the hero, and her aunt sidney were staying for treatment.

according to her father, jill lied. straight to his face, too. said something that only a killer would have known, but she wasn't fully aware. she knew she received her first stab that day, a piece of glass through the leg by the girl she thought she could trust. she lost consciousness then, having only been found after the aftermath, clinging to the weakening pulse she still had.

the next couple of years wasn't all that fun for her. she learned how to use a gun as soon as she could walk right again. she learned basic self defense, as soon as she was old enough. her father made her take martial arts, just to be able to defend herself. at just aged fourteen, she carried around a switchblade as a way to protect herself.

on the weekends, she'd find herself instead in new york city with her mom and her new boyfriend. oh, right. mom and dad separated. it wasn't that big of a deal for laurie, as she was always much, much more closer with her father. and her small trips there had earned herself a friend, with a silly boy a little younger than her, with a bowl cut but with a extremely endearing personality and a smile that could light up the entire room. she liked him, a lot. but he seemed to like her more. though, laurie didn't quite understand what love was at the time, and the visits slowly stopped as her father retired, and she could tell her father was starting to slowly decline from his long, long years of constant attacks.

just a couple of months after her nineteenth birthday, it started up again. this time, she had her own group of friends. consisting of those from her childhood; tara, wes, and mindy, specifically. but with mindy, came her much more insufferable brother, chad and his girlfriend, liv. they didn't talk much, but laurie liked her. enough to offer to stay behind just to make sure vance wouldn't try anything with her. and then, there was amber. they met in middle school, a little after she stopped visiting new york and they instantly formed a bond. tara called it love at first sight, and a part of laurie wondered if that was true. at the time, she believed so.

though she knew she was declining. the stabs were brutal. the screaming. the cutting.

she knew she took too long to react. by the time she ran up to stab the figure carving into her father, she felt a familiar sharp, burning pain in her lower abdomen, and she heard her father choking on his own blood, focused on her now. and she just sobbed, seeing all for herself the life drain from his eyes the longer he looked at her. before there was nothing left. she dropped with him, screaming at the top of her lungs, as for a moment, the figure just watched her, before kicking her in the face. that was enough to knock her out.

but she still wasn't dead. she could feel gentle hands shaking at her, she recognized sam's voice telling richie and paramedics that she was awake, but her eyes didn't leave that of the bag that her father was being zipped into, whispering something that not even sam could understand. she felt herself drift back into the nothingness that waited for her.

and she kept spiraling. after they managed to get her stable, she couldn't stop thinking about it. about what they did. the more she thought, the more the sorrow turned into anger. the more she thought, the more her fist clenched at her side. she needed to seek revenge, for him. it made sense to her at the time. and then, that was all that was in her mind. so the promise was made then. she'd kill them. every last one of them.

she didn't even recognize herself anymore. even after it was all said and done, but where was the satisfication? she made sure they suffered. just like dewey did. but it wasn't enough. why wasn't it fucking enough? she lost count of how many times she tackled amber to the floor once gale and sidney had her distracted, activating her switchblade and...her screams. the blood. gale and sidney even flinching a little. their screams, mixing together, until eventually, amber fell quiet, but she didn't stop. it wasn't until gale pulled her back, that she nearly stabbed her in reflex too. it was all so blurry for her. before eventually, those deep stabs from richie seemed to kick in, the adrenaline fading away and instead, feeling her body go limp in her mother's arms.

that time, she did die. for two minutes. sidney managed to get her breathing again, but she needed multiple blood transfusions just to pull through. she just felt...numb, when she woke up. why her? why couldn't wes, liv, or even judy had of pulled through? at the time, she hated being alive. she just wanted her father, but she could never act irrationally, as tara slept in the same bed with her. they had known each other since they were toddlers, after all. she couldn't leave her, or her and dewey's dog.

so reluctantly, she agreed to go with the group to new york city. its not like she had a choice, tara had signed her up for blackmore with the others. though the moment she was in that car, the better it got. her head resting comfortably in tara's lap, her acrylics digging into her scalp, which just only lulled her to sleep. it didn't help that the cheesy pop music tara had chosen for them to listen to on the drive there was unironically catchy.

to her surprise, she found herself liking it here. aside from how people would target her and sam, specifically, labeling and calling them murderers and other taunting names for their involvement in the woodsboro massacres, believing that they were behind it. laurie though, tried to not let it bother her, as much as she could. it's not like it didn't bother her, sometimes it brought back too much painful memories and she'd lock herself away in her room all day, but she didn't want to be a scared child anymore. she wanted to be free from it all. to live her own fucking life.

though as soon as the first weekend of the first month of their stay at blackmore hit, chad had called everybody to ask if they'd all be okay with going out for a celebratory dinner, and to also just get to know each other, which everyone did agree to. but the last person she didn't expect to see walk in was a familiar face.

a much more older version of who she once knew. she felt her heart skip a beat, and he was sure as hell he did too. he almost looked like a deer in headlights, just as taken aback as she was. the shock was strong, but eventually, both of them smiled widely, almost at the same time. but neither could speak, feeling tingly everywhere in their body. in their hearts, in their souls. like it was meant to be.

"e?" she asks, still taken aback, but a lot more confident in her guess now, which he just smiled wider and ran forward to squeeze her into a hug. one she gladly accepted, the shy boy spinning her around as they both laughed, glad to be in each other's arms again.

but the others just stared, the confusion clear as day for even tara, a part of her childhood that laurie had never once spoken on. but nobody seemed to notice quinn as well, narrowing her eyebrows a little as the realization came in. and how her little brother placed her down and seemed to forget all about how the entire group was there. instead sitting in a booth behind the group, so still around if they wanted to talk, but the two seemed to want to be left alone. smiling, laughing, and complimenting each other.

for chad, it had been the most brave thing of ethan he had ever seen. for the longest time he had known his roomie, he knew of ethan being the shy type of boy who preferred to be by himself and had no clue how to even approach a girl. but here he was, acting like he's known her all his life.

it was just the beginning of the end.

You Belong With Me

Eddie’s got what he always dreamed of, he is passing his classes, Hellfire is going great, Corroded Coffin is sounding better than ever, Chrissy Cunningham is his girlfriend, and his best friend Y/N is right by his side.

A/N: A fic inspired by Taylor Swift’s You Belong With Me where Eddie overlooks his best friend who is completely in love with him... or does he? Hurt/Comfort. One of my fics with a happy ending.

Wordcount: 1.4k

Eddie laughs keeping his arms tight around Chrissy’s waist as she groans and stomps her foot in response to a joke he made.

“Aw, come on babe it’s just a joke!” Eddie laughs, pressing a loud wet kiss to Chrissy’s cheek, making the strawberry blonde girl gasp.

“Eddie!” She squeals.

You just roll your eyes at their antics and look back at your lunch, you still can’t really believe that they’re dating. Of course, you had known about Eddie’s crush on Chrissy forever, but never in a million years did you think the head cheerleader, queen of Hawkins High, would return his affections.

You look up when Eddie snaps his fingers in front of your face.

“Hello? You in there?” He asks, giving you an odd, slightly concerned look, you notice the cafeteria is mostly emptied out now.

“Yeah, sorry just thinking about that quiz in Ms. O'Donnell's.” You look at him and smile packing up your stuff.

“…we have a quiz in O’Donnell’s today?”

“Eddie!”

You lay back on your bed listening to your new Van Halen album, when your window slides open and Eddie comes tumbling in.

“You know one of these times you’re going to get caught in here.” You laugh, as he rights himself and settles himself back onto your bed next to you. “Is this your new album?” He smiles, ignoring your statement, putting his hand behind his head as he relaxes next to you, looking up at the glow-in-the-dark stars stuck to your ceiling.

“Yeah, it’s really good, I think I like Sammy Hagar.” You say, looking at him, taking in his side profile, admiring the slope of his nose and the fizz of his curls as his listens to the music filling your room.

He turns to look at you, and you think you’ve been caught but Eddie doesn’t seem to notice that you were staring.

“Really? Better than David Lee?”

“Yeah. Here, Listen to this.” You get up and put on a song that you had listened to earlier for him, before laying back down. The two of you lay there side-by-side, and finish the entire album before arguing over which lead singer is better.

After a while Eddie puts on another album and breaks out a joint that he brought with him. The two of you lay next to each other smoking, enjoying the music and each other’s company without feeling the need to fill the air between you with endless conversation. Once the joint is reduced to nothing but ash and the album has been flipped to the ‘B’ side Eddie starts telling you his plans for after graduation.

“I’m gonna do it. I swear it, I’m getting out of this town one way or another. I know my uncle wants me to come work at the plant with him, but I just can’t imagine that as my future. I want to play stages. I’m going to get me a warlock and I’m going to LA and I will find someone, anyone who will take me seriously.”

You smile at him as he talks, you know if anyone deserves to get out of this hick town it’s him. His imagination, his dreams, his personality. They’ve always been too big for Hawkins.

“And it doesn’t hurt that Chrissy is going to UCLA next year either.” He adds.

There it is, the one thing that could dampen the amazing evening you’d been having, you’d almost forgotten about her.

“Oh… She is?”

“Yeah, she got the letter this afternoon. I’m going with her. She’s the best thing that ever happened to me, Y/N. I’m so lucky.” He smiles and sits up, pulling his shoes back on, “I should get going, but I’ll see you tomorrow for Hellfire.”

You watch as he climbs out the window, before closing it behind him. You sit back on the bed and put your head in your hands and wishing, and hoping and wanting more than anything for Eddie to see you as more than his best friend.

You don’t know why you’re here. You sit next to Eddie and the rest of the Hellfire boys in the bleachers watching Lucas play basketball, at least that’s what you’re telling yourself. You know Eddie is here for one reason, who’s wearing a short skirt and currently standing on the sidelines of the game. You try your best to focus on the game but it’s hard to not notice how Eddie whistles at her after she does a cartwheel, or how he claps loudly each time she does something.

After the game everyone decides to go to Benny’s for milkshakes, but you excuse yourself saying that you have a headache. You walk home and lock yourself in your bedroom laying in your bed feeling so lonely over the fact that the man you are head over heels for, doesn’t see you in the same light at all. You don’t register the tears at first, it’s not until they are dripping down your cheeks that you realize the sound you’re hearing is your own sobs. You lay there and allow the sadness to overwhelm, and envelop you until the peaceful darkness of sleep pulls you in.

You do your best over the next few weeks to avoid Eddie, especially if he’s with Chrissy, which seems to be all the time. The school year is coming to a close and there are more and more parties and celebrations, which makes it harder to avoid him while still enjoying time with your other friends. You decide to skip Jason Carver’s party though because you know Chrissy will absolutely drag Eddie there. Instead, you have a movie night with some of your other friends and find for the first time in a while you don’t feel so lonely.

After everyone goes home, you work on cleaning things up. You know it’s late but you’d rather get it done now than have to do it in the morning, who cares if it’s the middle of the night. You make your way up to your room and get ready for bed, and are startled by the knock on your window, opening it there he is, hair disheveled.

“Hey…” He smiles, “can I come in?”

You nod and step back giving him space to crawl on in, he tumbles through the window with as much as grace as usual and he sprawls on the floor looking up at you.

“What are you doing here, Eddie?”

“Why are you avoiding me, Y/N?” He sits up and leans against the wall under the windowsill.

You pause and look at him, before sitting next to him with your back against the wall too.

“Why aren’t you at Carver’s party with Chrissy?” you answer his question with another, two can play at that game.

He sighs and looks at you.

“Her friends are so fake. There’s not one real, genuine thing about any of them. It’s exhausting to be around them. I’d rather be here. Around you. So… Why are you avoiding me?”

You take a deep breath and look at your hands in your lap, “can’t you see, Eddie. She’s just like them. I’m the one who understands you. I’ve been here all along, so why can’t you see? You don’t belong with her Eddie. You belong with me.”

The room is silent for a long moment after your confession, before Eddie lets out a long breath and hooks his finger under your chin to lift your face so you’re looking at him.

“Do you really mean that?”

“Yes, I really mean it.”

He leans in and seals his lips over yours in a warm, loving kiss. Nothing is perfect but he knows, no one knows him better than you. You have always fit together like two puzzle pieces and if he’d realized just how much you’d loved him from the start he never would have asked Chrissy out. Together you two can make it through anything, and this, this kiss feels like perfection.

A History of Six Chaos: Broadway 1.0 (2020-2022)

The original Broadway cast had an inauspicious beginning, mostly because they were forced to close due to COVID during previews. Before the closure, alt Nicole Kyung-Mi Lambert became the first to perform on Broadway in an alternate costume, as they were technically against the US actor’s union rules but her principal costumes had not yet been completed when she needed to unexpectedly go on as Parr. Upon reopening in September 2021, the alternate system had been changed from 3 alts covering 5 roles with 2 primary covers, to 4 alts covering 3 roles each with Keirsten Hodgens joining as alt S/C/P.

In March 2022, principal Parr Anna Uzele left the show to work on other projects and was replaced by Joy Woods. Soon after, former West End alt Hana Stewart joined the cast for a month as temporary alt A/S/P, becoming the second performer to wear an alt costume on Broadway (also to play Parr). Principal Seymour Abby Mueller then went on a medical leave and Keri Rene Fuller joined the cast as a temporary principal until May.

On June 22nd, they had to cancel a performance due to cast illness. The following month, several emergency covers were needed; first Kelly Denice Taylor as Seymour on July 19th and 20th, then Cassie Silva as Boleyn on July 30th and 31st and August 5th and Howard on August 4th (both were Aragon tour alternates). Keri Rene Fuller also returned for one emergency cover performance on August 6th.

There was a mini-cast change on August 9th with Adrianna Hicks, Abby Mueller, and Joy Woods (the principal performers for Aragon, Seymour, and Parr) leaving the show and being replaced by Bre Jackson, Keri Rene Fuller, and Brennyn Lark respectively. Alts Ayla Ciccone-Burton and Holli’ Conway also joined the show at this time. Bre was unfortunately ill at the beginning of the run and had to leave mid-show for the first two performances, followed by taking a week and a half off to recover before returning. During this time, former cruise swing Marilyn Caserta made her Broadway debut as an emergency cover for Aragon on August 13th and 17th.

Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers of course spark real heat when they're dancing together: As the remark attributed to Katharine Hepburn about the team says, she made him sexy and he made her classy. But I don't find them terribly convincing as a romantic pair when they're not singing and dancing together, and this criticism was not uncommon even in their heyday. Which may be why RKO decided to try to spice things up by creating a parallel romantic team in Follow the Fleet, casting Randolph Scott and Harriet Nelson (billed as Harriet Hilliard) as the lovers whose problems echo those of Astaire and Rogers. The trouble is, Scott and Nelso generate much less chemistry than the lead couple. Scott had always been a sort of second-string Gary Cooper, but without Cooper's charm or acting ability, and Nelson was best known as a singer with her husband Ozzie's band when she was signed for this film, her first feature. She sings, rather ineffectively, two of the lesser-known of the seven Irving Berlin songs in the score, "Get Thee Behind Me, Satan" and "But Where Are You?" Follow the Fleet did nothing for her film career. It wasn't until she teamed with Ozzie for the radio series The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet in 1944, and later with their two sons, David and Ricky, for the long-running TV series of the same name, that she became really famous. Fame was in store, however, for several other members of the cast: Betty Grable and a blond Lucille Ball have small parts in the film, and Tony Martin, one of the sailors backing up Astaire, would later star in Hit the Deck (Roy Rowland, 1955), the original title of the play by Hubert Osborne on which Follow the Fleet was based. As for Astaire and Rogers, Follow the Fleet contains two of their most memorable numbers. They do a slapstick dance routine to "I'm Putting All My Eggs in One Basket" that shows Rogers's great gift for physical comedy to full advantage. And then there's "Let's Face the Music and Dance," which is one of their most balletic routines. Astaire does some remarkable footwork and Rogers is clad in an amazing dress that, thanks to weights in the sleeves and hem, swirls around her hypnotically. Once or twice, to be sure, you can see Astaire try to avoid getting swacked by her sleeves. (The designer credited with "gowns" is Bernard Newman.) At the end of this sublime routine, Astaire and Rogers slowly make their way off-stage and then suddenly exit with a breathtakingly unanticipated strut.

The Twins At A Glance- The Twins may have turn the tide on their season with a four-game sweep over the White Sox this week. They are inching closer to .500 and head to Anaheim for a three-game series with the Angels this weekend. Eddie Julien may have broke out of a slump with two homers on Thursday afternoon. Ryan Jeffers has a four-game hitting streak, where he is hitting 5-for-12 (.417). Trevor Larnach is hitting 5-for-10 with a homer and three RBI over his past three games. Byron Buxton went 4-for-8 in the White Sox series and it looks like his swing is back. Bailey Ober was pushed back to start on Friday night. Brock Stewart has thrown 11 1/3 scoreless innings to start the year. Justin Topa struck out the side in his first rehab assignment outing with the Saints. Jhoan Duran should pitch on Friday if the Saints play. Carlos Correa could return for the White Sox series next week without a rehab assignment.

The Angels At A Glance- The Angels have gotten cold after a (9-9) start. They have lost six of their past seven games and continue a long nine-game homestand against the Twins this weekend. The Angels made a few moves over the winter. They traded for Evan White, signed Zach Plesac, Aaron Hicks, Luis Garcia, Adam Cimber, Miguel Sano, Ehire Adrianza, and resigned Matt Moore. Jo Adell is off to a good start and is hitting .316 on the young season. Miguel Sano has been playing well in his return to the big leagues. He is hitting .271 with five RBI. Mike Trout leads the team with ten homers. Taylor Ward has a team leading twenty-three RBI. The Angels have a below average rotation with a combined ERA of 4.47. The bullpen ERA is fifth-worst with a 4.88 ERA. The Twins will miss Tyler Anderson, who has pitched well so far. They will see Reid Detmers, who has a 2.12 ERA in five starts. Carlos Estevez has locked down four saves. Carson Fulmer has given up one run over 8 2/3 innings of work. Matt Moore, Luis Garcia, and Adam Cimber have been solid out of the bullpen as well.

What To Watch For- The two teams split six games against each other in 2023. The Angels took two of three in Anaheim in mid-May and the Twins took two of three from the Halos in September when they clinched the division. Bailey Ober, Chris Paddack, and Pablo Lopez have never faced the Angels. Patrick Sandoval is (1-2) with a 2.95 ERA in three starts against the Twins. Jose Soriano has one scoreless inning against the Twins in his career. Reid Detmers has a 5.52 ERA in three starts against the Twins. Carlos Santana is 4-for-11 with three doubles and a homer off Detmers in his career. The Twins will face two left-handers, so we'll see lots of Manny Margot, Austin Martin, and Carlos Santana. The Twins get an easier series against the Angels this weekend.
