El nombre "cipreses de Moctezuma" se refiere a los ahuehuetes (Taxodium mucronatum), una especie de ciprés también conocida como sabino. Estos árboles son famosos por su longevidad y resistencia, y se dice que algunos de ellos han estado en pie desde la época de los mexicas.

Blackbird Amongst Cypress Greens

I saw this female red-winged blackbird (Taxodium distichum) at Alligator Lake, a small local lake here in West Central Louisiana. I thought this photo of her perching on the branch of a bald cypress tree looked nice.

You know, the photographs that I post here are not quite a vivid as the same photographs that I post at my pixel's gallery, because here, I reduce the size of the photos and usually make a slight reduction in the quality of the photos to make them easier to load.

Dwarf pondcypress (Taxodium ascendens) swamp.

Tate’s Hell, FL.

These trees have the same genetic makeup as regular pondcypresses, but the low-nutrient substrate that they grow in, called bonsai muck, causes them to be dwarfed.
