Semi final surprises \\ Alexia Putellas x Williamson!reader
Tensions are high in the Arsenal dressing room as the do or die game is less than an hour from starting. I tie the last knot in my laces before walking out with the rest of the girls to start warm ups. After a brief warm up with the rest of the starters, I sit down in the cubby next to Leah’s and notice a few notifications from Alexia. Before each game, Alexia always sends multiple voice messages. I play the first one and hear the thick Spanish accent come through the headphones.
Hi my love, I know you have the headphones on. I will send you the voice messages.
You will do so well today. Play your heart out, score some goals and take it in.
I love you and I am so proud of you superstar. I’ll see you in the next few days when you visit.
I smile at Alexia’s English and send a reply. My phone goes back into my bag just as Leah bumps my leg to gesture that it’s time to go.
I quickly change into the game jersey and line up with the rest of the girls. I see the Lyon team on the other side of the hallway and I move behind Caitlin in line. I feel a small hand in mine and see a young girl about 6 or 7 years old smiling up at me. I talk to her for a little bit before we go out to the bustling crowd that is the Emirates.
As we all wait for the formalities to conclude, I notice my mascot shivering slightly. I ask her if she wants my jacket and she nods. I take it off and wrap it around her shoulders. A small thank you was said and hug in return made some fans cheer at the interaction.
A short huddle later and the second semi final of the champions league is underway. With Wolfsburg shockingly beating Barcelona a few days ago, the Spanish team will fail to get their three-peat this year. A whistle pulls you out of your thoughts and your teammates start to get into position.
Lyon wasted no time in attacking, taking most of the possession from the first whistle. The Arsenal attackers, Alessia, Caitlin and I drop back into defence while trying to regain the ball to take up field. The deadlock breaks just before halftime with Lyon scoring the first goal. As the French team celebrated, Kim pulled us all into a huddle to motivate us for the rest of the half.
As I walk back with Alessia, I look back and catch Leah’s eye. I give her a slight nod and returned one as to silently say stay calm and focused. No other chances came Arsenal’s way in the first half so I walk into the locker room with my head down, about to give up. After a pep talk from Jonas and a motivational boost from Kim, the team were ready to face Lyon for another half.
As both teams jogged out, Alexia weaved her way through the crowd to get to her seat. Of course her plane had to be delayed and then no taxis or Ubers were at the arrivals part of the airport. Luckily, you had shown Alexia how to watch your games so she didn’t miss anything on the way over to the stadium. As Alexia got on a flight straight after a day of interviews and photoshoots, she came without any luggage. Excusing herself as she moved past people, Alexia finally reached her seat.
In the 70th minute is when the dynamic shifted in half. I try to sneak past Vanessa Gillies but she slide tackles straight into my ankle. I fall to ground screaming and the medic rushes over. I get a bandage wrapped around my ankle as there’s a decent cut. I put everything back on and the game resumes. I see a Lyon player get organised for the free kick, in a pretty good spot and I give Steph a look and hold up 2 fingers for a tactic.
Steph kicks the ball and I watch as it comes towards me. I quickly look in front of me and see Leah so I jump on her slightly to get a better angle on the ball. The ball flicks into the bottom corner of the net.
Equaliser. 1-1.
I run to the corner flag and turn around to be pulled into a group hug. The roar from the crowd was deafening as we regrouped and focused on the remaining 20 minutes.
As time was counting down, I was getting exhausted but I knew I had to keep going. Leah makes a crucial slide tackle and quickly spots me near the box. She kicks the ball over the Lyon defenders and with pinpoint accuracy, it lands on my foot, making it a perfectly timed volley. The familiar swoosh of the net is all I can hear as I drop to my knees in disbelief. Leah was the first on the floor with me and other teammates soon followed.
“You did it y/n/n”
“Games not over yet Lee”
In a matter of minutes the final whistle blew and Lyon bodies fell to the floor in distraught. Legs are exhausted, minds numb. While around the pitch Arsenal teammates and staff were jumping, screaming and crying all at the same time. Leah and I found each other first, hugging for longer than usual. This was our moment. One we’ve been waiting for since we were at the academy. After shaking hands with Lyon, the team and staff went on a victory lap. Walking with Leah and Steph, waving into the crowd when someone caught my eye.
“No way”
There was the love of my life wearing a red and white scarf and of course a Barça baseball cap. I sprint over to Alexia with a wide smile on my face. Alexia opens her arms and I jump the barricade to get into her arms, the place I call home.
“You came. I thought you had photoshoots and media” I say as my voice is raspy due to yelling in the game.
“Of course. I wouldn’t miss this for the world mi amor”
It has been speculation for a while now that you and Alexia are dating, with both of you posting subtle hints on instagram stories and posts. This moment just confirms all the fans TikTok edits and endless stalking they have done. Without another thought or care in the world, I grab Alexia’s cheeks gently and kiss her gently.
“I love you” I murmured against Alexia’s lips.
Alexia smiled as she replied “Te quiero más”.
I got called over by Katie and Caitlin as the group stopped staring and continued their victory parade around the ground. Alexia nudged me to go and said she’d wait here when I finish.
As I walk around the ground, nothing can beat this feeling. I have my sister and best friend with me in the final and the love of my life is by my side cheering me on. How can it get better than this?

The Mountain Is You
Part 2 of 'Our Sun Is Setting'
Tumblr media
Can confirm this part is much lighter than the first! I enjoyed writing this, I hope you like it :)
Barcelona. Once a place that felt like home to you, yet now as you clamber into the back of your taxi outside of the airport, it's the same but different.
Same sun, different warmth. Same air, different atmosphere. Same airport, different kind of departure.
Same person tying you down to this city, different dynamic.
If you thought a lot could change in two days, you had no idea what could happen in eighteen months. Turns out, a lot could change too, but thankfully for the sake of your sanity, the mental blows were not so big and not so frequent this time around. You doubt you would be in this situation now, back in the city you love, if it wasn't for your grandparents. They welcomed you with open arms and endless amounts of baked goods as soon as they caught wind of you coming home.
For the first month you stayed with them, most of that time was spent in the spare bedroom they made up for you, not quite holding the confidence or will power to do much else other than feel sorry for yourself. Some days you would walk their dog with them, other days you wouldn't leave the room. Some days you would do as many chores possible for them as a thank you, other days your Grandmother would sit beside you up against the headboard whilst you lay beside her as she read her book out loud, one hand gently running through your hair as she went. Some days you'd all laugh about shared memories of your Mother, other days you'd cry into each other's arms.
Something clicked inside you along the way though. One day you just woke up with a certain determination, and the look on your Grandfather's face as you wandered into the kitchen at 7am was enough to force a few giggles out of you before ushering him to join you on an early morning walk. That was when you voiced your new thoughts to him.
"I think I'm going to start applying for jobs again soon. You know, get out of your hair a little bit." You said to him, smiling when he tutted and wrapped an arm around your shoulders.
"Don't be ridiculous. We're happier than we have been in a while now that you're with us, sunshine." He replied honestly, hugging you into his side.
"I know. I'm happy too, but I do want a job. What job, I'm not sure yet, but I'm going to start looking."
"You don't have to pressure yourself though, okay? If you change your mind at any point, that's perfectly fine. Just do it at your own pace. If you would like, you could print off your CV for me and Granny to hand in to places."
"That's fine, Grandad, you don't have to." You laughed lightly at his suggestion, bringing your hand up to cover his that rested on your shoulder. "Everything is online nowadays."
"Of course. That rules me and Gran out the question then, in terms of advice." He grumbled jokingly, though his classic, cheeky smile rests on his face. "Absolutely no help for you there, sweetheart."
"I didn't think there would be any anyway. I've seen Grandma use the microwave." The pair of you laugh at that, before it falls silent as you walk along the cliff-top coastline. The tone of the conversation shifts a bit when you speak again. "I think I'm also going to start seeing a therapist. You know, for everything that's happened."
"Okay, love. Whatever is best for you." And that's all the reassurance you needed.
The job hunt would forever be an aspect of life you despised. But, two months later, you had secured a job within the local area that you chose to walk to most days, a piece of advice from your new therapist that at first you hated but soon it was your favourite part of your daily routine. Apart from when it rained, obviously.
Things were going well though, surprisingly well, and it set in one evening as you sat in the back garden, watching your grandparents gardening, that the choice you made a few months prior was the right one.
You had managed to keep a certain Spaniard out of your mind for most of the time after that first month of being away from her, until one night you got a notification on your phone.
Spain win the FIFA World Cup after a 1-0 victory against England!
What was the right move now? Text her to congratulate her? Or is no contact best for the time being? Would texting her give her false hope? This was arguably the biggest achievement of her career, her whole life, but as a figure of the past, was it right to dredge everything back up again at such a joyful time?
Your hands faltered over your still cracked phone screen, unsure what to do in such an unusual situation. There was no handbook on what to do if your ex-girlfriend, who you're still in love with and who (hopefully) still loves you too, wins the biggest trophy of her career, nor could a google search be any assistance. And unfortunately, as perfect as they are, your grandparents that had been married for over fifty years now may not be any help either.
So, the only decision you could land on, no matter how much you didn't like it, was to leave it.
Until your finger slipped and liked her celebratory Instagram post later that night. You still followed each other on social media, too reluctant to get rid of that remaining bridge, but your Instagram had lain dormant ever since you had left. That meant you had some insight into Alexia's life post-breakup, guiltily indulging in a late night scroll every now and then which you found yourself in now, whilst she had no idea what you were up to or even if you were alive.
Well, at least she knew you were still here and you still cared for her. Could that be shown in one single social media interaction? You hoped so. Maybe that was a tad bit dramatic though. What else were you supposed to do?
You had the same reaction a year later as you watched Alexia captain her team to an unfortunate loss in the Olympics final. However, it was still a silver Olympic medal, and not many athletes could say they have one of those. A congratulatory text from you may have seemed like the start of a pity party though, so once again you opted out of it. Time and place and all that.
A year on and you were in a much better place, there were no two ways about it. Therapy was difficult, of course it was, but people were right when they say it's one of the best things to do for yourself. You don't think you'd ever been better. Subsequently, that led to an inevitable topic to come into discussion during one session.
"What do you think the... repercussions would be if I... went back to Barcelona?" You asked nervously, looking down at your hands as they fidgeted in your lap.
"It depends what you went to get out of it. Would you go for the city itself? Or for her?"
For some reason, in your sessions, your therapist hardly ever named Alexia. It was always 'her' or 'she', never her name. You figured it was so that you never shied away from the subject which was probably close to being the hardest to talk about, but you were too afraid to ask.
"Both." You answered initially. Your therapist stayed quiet of course, waiting for you to answer truthfully, something she again always did. "Her. Mostly."
"Do you think you're in the headspace for it? You've made so much progress since we first started, so you need to think if it'll aid the healing process or cause a regression."
"Well, she wasn't the problem in the first place. Everything she did for me was perfect, it was the relationship as a whole rather than her specifically. She was... she was perfect." You smiled sadly as you reminisced on your time with her. She really was perfect. "But I was the problem, I think. I was the one suppressing so much stuff and... when I was on my own compared to when I was with her, I was two completely different people. It was like light and day. She had a great effect on me, but I guess it's just figuring out if that was healthy or not. That difference in characters, in mindset."
"See? You've learnt so much from this already. Maybe you should just sit in front of a mirror and talk to yourself, you'd save a lot of money." Your therapist jokes, the pair of you laughing lightly. "So, let's get talking then. Let's figure this out."
And you did. You spent the rest of the session discussing whether it would be suitable for you to go back to Barcelona. The conclusion you came to was a very favourable one, one that made you nervously excited. But what would Alexia be like? Had she moved on? Would she still value you the same? Or would you be old news now? Only time could tell.
The only thing you knew was that it is so much darker after a light goes out than it would have been if it had never shone, and that was the case with Alexia. Perhaps your life wouldn't have been so flipped upside down if you hadn't had met her; such a sweet and loving soul, the purest and brighest light shining onto every dark crevice you'd ever hidden. You'd had a taste of her, and you'd be damned if you didn't at least try for her again. Alexia Putellas wasn't one to lose, and you'd been fortunate to have her in the first place. If it was a one time thing, maybe you'd have to come to terms with that being the case. But for now, getting to Barcelona was just the first step.
Your grandparents definitely approved of you going back, no matter how long for, whether it be one day or one month or perhaps forever. At some point in the past year you had opened up to them about Alexia and they were heartbroken for you. Of course they would be. Your hearts were one and the same. They were the biggest advocates in getting you to go back and see Alexia, and even if Alexia didn't want to see you, you were still going to go to Barcelona. You had friends there, you'd lived a whole life there for just over a year, you'd fallen in love with it before you'd even met Alexia, so regardless of her opinion (even if it did sting like hell) you're still going.
When you booked your flight there, with no return ticket just yet, your grandparents had cheered and dragged you up from the armchair to dance with them along to the music from their old radio. It was a core memory, absolutely, and you'd be lying if you said a part of you wasn't hoping to share this memory one day with Alexia.
However, the day came where you had to do the thing you'd been most afraid of. Contacting Alexia. It was an occasion that definitely called for an emergency video call with your therapist who was very pleased to meet your grandparents for the first time, albeit over Zoom, and the three of them offered any and all advice you'd take until you had carefully curated a text message to send to her.
You:
Hey Alexia, I hope you're doing well. Feel free to ignore this, but I'm coming back to Barcelona soon and I was wondering if you wanted to catch up? If you don't want to, I completely understand. It's been a while and we've both lived our lives without each other in it, so no pressure at all. Let me know if you're open to it. Take care x
Almost immediately, the message was read by her. And just as quickly, the typing icon came up. Safe to say, your grandparents were freaking out just as much as you were.
Alexia:
Wow, it is so good to hear from you. I'm doing well and I really hope things are much better for you. I've been dreaming of hearing from you since the moment you left. I absolutely want to see you again, I don't care how long it's been, so let me know when you're coming and I'll see you as soon as I can. Espero verte pronto, cuídate x
Any longer and your jaw would have been lodged into its place hanging wide open. She wanted to see you just as much as you wanted to see her. The feeling of relief that washed over you upon reading it was gone as quick as it arrived; instead, you were now filled with nerves. No, not nerves, butterflies.
And that's where you found yourself now, your taxi driver navigating the streets of Barcelona towards your hotel in mid-October. It was reaching the evening, so your plan was to start off the trip calmly with a walk around the city to re-familiarise yourself before sunset, then just order some room service for dinner. Simple, but the right way to start what would probably be a bit of a challenging trip mentally.
Despite the low-key nature of the day, you could hardly sleep later that night. There was only one reason, it was obvious. You and Alexia had plans to meet for lunch the next day after her training session. You can't recall an event in your life you had ever felt so excited for, you felt like a kid on Christmas Eve again. A few doubts trickled into your mind every now and then, but you'd grafted for too long now for petty worries to tear down the confidence you had built.
Of course you were eager to see the woman you loved again for the first time in eighteen months, but there was a bigger part of you that was desperate for her to see the progress you'd made. You were proud, and it had taken a lot to get to this point. You wanted to share your pride with her and show her the person you always knew you could be all along. All of your efforts, your hard-work, and your sacrifices had been worth it. You were right to feel proud. And after all, sacrifices were given that name for a reason.
When you did eventually fall asleep, it was with images of Alexia circling in your mind, hoping she still had a place in her heart for you and that she'd love you again for who you are now and not who you were.
Finally, finally, the time came to see Alexia again. You weren't really sure what to expect; it was a unique situation with exceptional circumstances, and you were trying desperately not to put too much pressure on the day. Yet, you were a despairingly hopeful person and the anticipation was almost overwhelming as you were getting ready.
Contact between you both had been little but often, topics never delving too deep which you were so glad about as you wanted to talk to her properly face to face. You had to, it's the least she deserved. Over text, anything could be easily misinterpreted and you weren't about to ruin your chance with words getting lost in translation. Phone calls and FaceTimes were out of the question too, and you were grateful that your individual desperation wasn't getting in the way of going about this the correctly. By no means were you a perfectionist, but there were some things in life that were far too important to be ruined by a lack of patience and all-consuming desire.
Once again, your new and probably your healthiest habit came into play as you decided to walk under the bright October weather to the place Alexia had chosen for the occasion. Neutral ground of course; meeting at her apartment or your hotel room wasn't appropriate... yet.
You arrived at the quaint, little restaurant first, a coincidence you were more thankful for than you'd admit, and you chose to seat yourself at a table off to the side. A bit of privacy from strangers could go a long way for a day like today, you figured. You didn't really want a bunch of strangers to witness the influx of emotions you'd no doubt go through when Alexia arrived.
Soon though, that became a case of if Alexia would arrive, because ten minutes passed since you had arrived practically on time and there was still no sign of the woman. And, rather naïvely, you hadn't planned for her to stand you up. You and your therapist had almost fully mentally prepared you for every other outcome except that one. She did have training beforehand, perhaps that had ran late. Still, your mind was slowly spiralling into overdrive with each second that passed.
Until she did arrive.
The bell over the door rang faintly through the room as it opened hastily, a frantic looking Alexia entering the restaurant. She was really here. Here, basically racing over to you whilst weaving through the tables and chairs and the light scattering of people. Here, still as breathtakingly beautiful as ever. Still Alexia.
She came to a stop in front of you, both of you stuck in a trance as if the world had stopped spinning solely for this moment right here. An anticipatory and contemplative silence settled as your eyes' tracked over every feature of the other, a refresh for the memory of the face you'd so dearly missed.
Alexia was the first to speak - a breathless whisper of your name as if she was in disbelief that you were right in front of her. It triggered something in you, because before you had even realised, you had jumped up from your chair and wrapped your arms tightly around her; a hug you had been dying for for longer than you'd admit. It took a few seconds for her to react but soon, Alexia enveloped you just as emphatically.
The embrace was paired with a few more whispered chants of your name from Alexia - in this moment, for her, it felt like the past months without you she had just been floating through her life, waking up everyday as if it were a chore more than anything. But now, in your arms, she felt alive again. The time without you had been worth it for this single moment here.
"Hey." You mumbled quietly into her neck, smiling uncontrollably when the taller woman squeezed you impossibly more in response.
"Hi." Her voice cracked ever so slightly as she spoke. "Hi."
"You already said that." You teased her lightly, meeting her gaze when she moved back to look at you properly. One of her hands came up to delicately cradle your cheek as if she was scared you would disintegrate at her touch. "Don't be so worried. I'm not going anywhere right now."
"You better not." Alexia murmured, her eyes boring down at you so deeply that it caused your breath to hitch in your throat. "I can't believe you're here."
You blushed at the intensity of her look, gesturing a hand down your body jokingly.
"Live in the flesh." You grinned cheekily, gasping slightly when she pulled you back into herself. "Ale."
"Say that again." She said so quietly you almost missed it.
"Alexia. Ale." You repeated, along with a light kiss to her cheek. She physically deflated in your arms, all the tension you didn't even realise was there dissipating immediately. You saying her name was like the last confirmation she needed that yes, you were actually here.
"I..." She started, leaning back and shaking her head whilst letting out a shaky breath. "I missed you. So much."
You smile and... almost instinctively lean in to kiss her - what were you doing?
"I missed you too." You replied, willing yourself to not ruin it, not now, not when you've made it so far. "I really did."
She returned a smile and reluctantly lets go of you in favour of finally taking a seat at the table. You sit across from her and realise that most of the tables were quite small and intimate, and if you had any remaining functional thought processes left that weren't all occupied by Alexia, you would have thought she'd chosen this restaurant for that specific feature. Your knees grazed against each other under the table and Alexia couldn't stop herself from travelling the small distance with her hands to grasp one of yours with both of hers.
"How are you?"
"Well, that's quite a question. Do you want the short answer or the long answer?" You answer humorously, Alexia shrugging.
"Whatever you want. Say it all or say nothing, I'm just glad to be in your company again." You can't help but swoon a little at her words. "But... I would really like it if you were honest with me. And open. Though I understand if not."
"I'm happy to tell you it all. You best have your listening ears on though." You say, delighted to hear her laugh.
"I do, I swear."
At that, you explain everything from start to finish. From the days you spent in bed, to the first therapy session you had, to the moment you opened up to your grandparents, all the way to the point where you made the decision to come back to Barcelona. The only slightly annoying and poorly timed interruption was from the waiter who asked for your orders, the pair of you quickly apologising and taking one glance at the menu before ordering the first thing that caught your eye.
She listened intently to every word you had to say, not afraid to ask a question every now and then whilst also respecting the privacy you still had every right to. Alexia didn't really feel like you absolutely owed her anything, she just wanted a little context to it all, a little closure and an update on your current state of mind. She just wanted you to be well, she just wanted you.
The whole time you spoke, she simply gazed at you with such a soft and earnest look in her eyes. With her presence that, despite all that time, still had the greatest effect on you paired with your newfound self, you were at peace here.
"You promise that you're better now?" She raises her hand up to you, waiting for you to link fingers with her to secure your truth. And this time, you weren't lying when you answered her.
"I'm so much better." You stated with a shy smile, and that statement felt like the final nail in the coffin to the whole journey you'd been on the past two years.
"You don't know how happy I am to hear that." Alexia revealed with a disbelieving shake of her head. You lift your shoulders in a dismissive shrug, glancing down at your joined hands in the centre of the table.
"Are you... are you angry at me?" You ask. You weren't perfect still, you still had doubts and insecurities.
"What would I be angry about?" Her nose scrunched up in genuine confusion.
"Any of it. All of it."
"Hey." She said, nudging your hand to try and gain your attention. You look up at her and blush a little. "Do I seem angry?" You ponder that for a moment, eyes searching her face, before shaking your head no. "Good, because I'm not. Not at all. What person would I be to react like that?"
"An asshole." You mumble, the pair of you breaking out into laughter after a second.
"I'm proud of you and happy for you. You..." Alexia sighs and pauses, wondering if it's the right time to say what she wanted to say. It's her turn to focus her attention on your hands as she mindlessly traced random shapes on the back of your hand with her finger. "This new version of you, I can see that you're less... weighed down by things. There is a different look in your eyes and though I can't quite describe it yet, I know it's a sign that you feel better and more at peace with yourself. That is all I could wish for, for the person I love."
Sorry, what was that?
"Uh, you sti- you still love me?" You stuttered. You just had to know.
"Yes. I do." Alexia confirms, a sheepish smile on her face. "I was being truthful before you left when I said that I'll always love you. Maybe I shouldn't have said this now. You don't have to love me still. I would... I would understand."
"No, Ale, what?" You shook your head at her and squeezed her hands tightly. "I love you. I'll always love you too. Why do you think I wouldn't love you?"
"Why would you think I wouldn't love you?" She hits back, resulting in you both laughing shyly. "It would have to be really crazy situations for me to not love you, chiqui."
"Was this not a crazy situation? Me dramatically fleeing the country out of nowhere?"
"No, and don't say it like that. You had every reason to leave, okay? I told you that when you left and I'll still tell you that now. I don't resent you for choosing yourself." Alexia argues firmly, bringing your hand up to her mouth so that she could kiss the back of it reassuringly. She halts for a moment, wondering if it's appropriate to do so, but judging by the redness of your cheeks she decides to go through with it. "I... just had a few doubts about this all, but now that you're here my mind has calmed down now."
"Are you okay?" You blurt out.
At the mention of herself, your concern immediately turned to Alexia and how she coped through all this. If you knew her as well as you thought you did, you had a feeling you knew what her immediate reaction would be.
"What do you mean?"
Exactly what you guessed.
"I haven't checked up on you yet. I want to know how you've been doing." You answer, shifting forward slightly so that you were closer to her.
"Why check up on me?" Alexia chuckles nervously.
"Because your girlfriend walked out on you and went off the grid for a year and a half. Forget about me right now, Ale, I want to know how you are."
She pauses looking at you, an internal battle going on behind her eyes that you're all too familiar with, until she sighs once more and her demeanour drops.
"Well, I was worried about you, firstly. Everyday I woke up you were the first thing I thought about and the last thing in my mind before I slept. I don't think you ever left my mind, not for long anyway. I wanted the best for you. And then I guess... I had a few selfish thoughts too. But as I said, you're here, and I don't need to think about them anymore." Alexia told you, a tight-lipped smile on her face. "I don't want to say them now, today is about you."
"No, Alexia, it's not. It's a day for both of us." You urge her to understand that it's okay for her to open up, that it's been a hard time for her too, but part of you knows you most likely won't get that out of her today.
"Amor, please. Let's do this another time, for now just focus on the positive. We can talk about me any other time, just not now, please." She begs with a pleading look in her eyes. "I am okay, I swear. You being here has solved everything, it's the truth."
"Promise you'll open up at some point soon?" It's your turn to hold your hand up for her to make a promise.
"As long as you stay long enough." She jokes, but it's clear to see there is some fear and insecurity there. She does link her finger with yours though, a sentiment that's never lost on you. "How long are you staying for?"
"That's the thing. I don't really have a return date yet." You admit, and the flash of hope in Alexia's eyes ignites a feeling of longing inside of you.
Forget timings and socially standardised timelines of falling in love or healing or whatever it was you were doing, you didn't care anymore. Why delay the inevitable process? You were in love with her and she was in love with you. Taking it slow was overrated anyway.
"What does that mean?" Alexia asks, her heart palpitating at the prospect of your answer.
"It means... anything, Ale. What do you want it to mean?"
Perhaps answering questions with another question wasn't the best habit you'd picked up from your therapist.
"You want the truth?" You nod instantly, your emotions already bubbling and she hasn't even said anything yet. "As long as you are ready for it, and you must swear to me that you are because I don't want to h-"
"Oh my god, just say it, please." You beg, eyes wide in hopeful anticipation, waiting for her to admit the thing you had yearned for all these months.
"I want you back in my life, permanently. I want to be your girlfriend again. No matter how long it takes, no matter how slow you decide to take things, the thing I've wished for all this time is to just be yours again, to have you as mine. I'll do anything to make that happen, I swear by it. You want me to throw stones at your hotel window? I'll do it. You want me to sneak onto your balcony in the middle of the night? I'll do that. You want me to stand outside your door with a loudspeaker and signs? I already have the speaker and words prepared. I'll even stand in the centre of Montjuïc at the next game and sing for you if you really want."
You laugh at every ridiculous idea of devotion that comes out of her mouth, eyes glossy with unshed tears. Except, this time, the tears aren't ones of sorrow or longing, they're tears of exultation and relief. Alexia had waited for you, all this time. There had been no one else for her and no matter how selfish it was, it's the best revelation you've ever had.
"I don't think the culers would be too happy about you singing." You teased, rolling your eyes at the smug and nonchalant shrug she gave.
"I don't care, because it wouldn't be for them, it would be for you." She smirks, leaning in closer. Your foreheads were mere inches about now, a fact neither of you could ignore.
"You sure you want me back?" You mumbled shyly. It was Alexia's turn to roll her eyes now as she fought back the temptation to kiss the doubt off of your lips.
"I want nothing more than I want you." She responded, sounding so sure of herself that it was intoxicatingly enticing.
"Even if it's long distance for a little while?"
"Even then." Alexia smiles, resting her arms on her elbows as she brought your joined hands up together to rest in between you both. She pressed her lips to your hands once more, eyes closed as she does so, before looking back into your eyes. "We will figure out the logistics another time. For now, all I know is that I have the love of my life back and I want to spend every second I can with her before she leaves."
"Love of your life, hm?" You whisper with a shy grin, Alexia grunting at how you teased her for her softness. It was something you'd always done, and she was grateful that that part of you hadn't changed. "Well, what do we do now?"
"I'm hoping that you will let me kiss you, finally."
"In here? With all these people?" There really weren't that many people in there, and the few that were wouldn't even take notice of the sickeningly sweet moment occuring.
"Sí. Déjame besarte, por favor." The sound of Alexia speaking Spanish was something you could never get over, it did things to you everytime. How could you deny her when she spoke like she did?
"I guess." You rolled your eyes and sighed dramatically as if it was such an inconvenience.
Alexia simply grinned and planted both her hands on your cheeks before surging forward to kiss you. However, she pauses for a moment, just taking in your appearance and letting out a huff of disbelieved laughter, then she finally presses her lips against yours. A quiet, muffled moan leaves your throat before you can stop it, and the sound of it causes Alexia to smirk smugly. Frustratingly, the stupid but irresistible thing made it aggravatingly difficult to kiss the life out of her like you so wanted to. The smirk was wiped off of Alexia's face the second you broke the kiss much sooner than she wanted to.
"What's wro-"
"I can't kiss you how I want to when you're grinning like a maniac, pendeja!" You groan, butting your forehead against hers to further emphasise your annoyance.
"Pobrecita bebé." Alexia pouts sarcastically at you whilst gently grasping your chin with her thumb and forefinger. That idiotic, childish grin soon forced its way back where it belongs, and you can't help but smile at the sight of it. "I can't help it, amor! What do you want me to do?"
"Be normal and not do that stupid smirk!"
"Oh, perdóname, I'm sorry I'm so happy that I have you back!" Alexia exclaims, arguing solely to rile you up. What people didn't know about this layered Catalan is that she loved bickering with you or just annoying you in general. You didn't realise quite how much you missed it until this moment now.
"I swear to god, stop being so infuriating and just get o-"
And get on with it she did. You couldn't even finish your sentence before she silenced you in one of the best ways you could think of. And god bless the poor waiter who just wanted to do his job, because when he came to give you your meals, the sight he walked up to was somewhat less than PG. The young guy, who honestly looked no older than 18, cleared his throat louder than normal and the pair of you jumped a mile apart at the unexpected presence. Alexia had to grip the edge of the table to prevent her chair from tipping back, trying desperately to disguise her embarrassment with a tight-lipped smile and rambled thanks to the boy, all the whilst you had to stifle what would be a very loud belly laugh.
"Calláte, that was your fault." Alexia hushed out, her eyes scanning the room to figure out if anyone else had just witnessed that monstrosity. Meanwhile, your face was now bright red due to the laughter threatening to escape out from behind your palm that covered your mouth. It was Alexia's fault really, the shot burst of laughter that barrelled out of you, because she kicked you in the shin as she sipped from the water that had been dropped off at some point during the afternoon. "Dios mío, what is wrong with you!?"
"Sorry, sorry, I'm sorry." You choked out. You took a page from Alexia's book and drank some of your water. As you did, you noticed that Alexia's face wasn't contorted to one of irritation, it was the face she did when she was trying to suppress the overwhelming amount of joy she felt. As someone who was so keen to convey a certain persona, it was one you'd seen a few times since you'd known her, and this was perhaps your favourite look of hers. "I think you'll find it was your awkwardness that was at fault, Ale."
"Yeah, yeah. Eat your food, idiota."
There were periods of peaceful silence as you ate, some conversation here and there, but despite all that has and hasn't been said so far, it felt like there wasn't anything that needed to be uttered. You were both content to enjoy each other's presence again, your eyes meeting every other moment as you ate which resulted in you both blushing and laughing like lovesick teenagers.
It really was tooth-rottingly sweet, and though the dynamic wasn't all too different than it was before, there was solace found in the knowledge that a lot of things had been changed for the better. The prospect of it all was exhilarating, a new path for you both to walk together, and for you there were no longer question marks looming over every part of your life.
The main thing that hadn't changed too much for you, a thing you were relieved about, was the way Alexia made you feel. It was the same as it used to be, except about a million times better. There wasn't so much guilt or gloom that was masked by Alexia, it was all genuine and you already knew that feeling would bleed into your everyday life with her around.
"You said you told your grandparents about me?" Alexia wondered, sitting back in her chair with her hands linked over her stomach.
"I did. They said if this goes well, I have to bring back Barça shirts for them." You revealed with a smile, Alexia chuckling.
"I can organise that for them. As well as tickets to a game if they'd like."
"Alright, Miss Marketing." You roll your eyes at her offer, pausing to take a sip from your half-full glass. "We get it, you love your club. You don't have to spread the message like a missionary."
"I have to win them over some way." Alexia laughs, before her face turns a little more serious and you have a feeling you know what she's about to bring up. "What about your... Dad?"
"Haven't spoken to him since the day I left." You answer, eyes focused on the tracks your finger left behind on the condensation of the glass as it ran around the curve of it. "No idea what he's doing or where he is. Just know that he's alive and that's all I have the energy to care about."
"That's good for you, amor. He doesn't deserve you."
"I know that." You smile genuinely at her, and that's another one of her worries she had for you erased. "I think, out of anyone, my therapist is the one you must give tickets to."
"Mm, yes. I must meet this magical woman one day, I owe my life to her." That charming smirk is back on her face, and you blush at that as well as the sentiment she holds in her words.
"I don't want this meal to end." You mumble in a disheartened voice, reaching your hand across the small gap between you both to grasp one of the hands on her stomach.
"It... it doesn't have to, amor." Alexia starts, catching your attention as you look up to meet her eyes. "You could come over to my apartment. It's been a while since you've been there. The indentation on my balcony chair has left, I think you need to reinstate it."
You roll your eyes at her humour, a soft smile on your face at the laugh she gives at her own jokes. You do think the offer over though - is it too soon? Maybe, but if this counted as a first date, milestones were out the window considering you'd already confessed your love for each other. Did time and patience count when it came to re-conciliating a relationship? Screw it, who cares.
"I'd be happy to come over, Ale. If you want that."
"Are you sure? Because I would love that, except I don't want to rush you or ruin anything if we move too fast."
"Fuck that. I know what I want now and that's you. Who cares what is too fast. I've delayed our relationship once already, I'm not doing that again."
She stares at you from across the table and if it was possible, you'd say her pupils were the shape of a heart with the look she fixed you with. Then she was standing out of nowhere, shrugging her jacket back on whilst you watched her, completely confused, until she held her hand out for you.
"Let's go, ay?" She hums, wiggling her fingers to urge you to move. "No wasting time, you said."
You jut your tongue into your cheek, heart fluttering at her forwardness, and gather your own coat before taking her hand. She presses a soft kiss to your cheek before guiding you towards the exit with a hand on your lower back, a notion she's always done and one you'll always adore.
Silently, she leads you to her car that's parked around the corner and watches with a shy but proud smile as you climb into the passenger side of the car. With every little thing you did, whether that was humming contently as you ate your food or smiling at her absentmindedly every time she spoke, or even just blinking and breathing, she realised she could never verbalise the love she held for you because she'd never experienced it before in her life, ever. Not with pets, not with friends, not with her family. It was otherworldly, unexplainable, and though she wasn't religious, her devotion to you was just as close to that.
Again, there is just light, scattered chatter as she drives you back to one of your favourite places in the world, and once more she guides you to the elevator with her palm pressed to your back. As you stand in the lift, shoulder to shoulder, there are modestly triumphant smiles on your faces, a wordless shared notion sitting between you that everything was worth it in the end. Even if it took a journey and a half to get there, the climb was always worth it for the view at the top.
"What would you like to do now?" Alexia asks as she unlocks her door and allows you to step in before her.
"Uh, can we chill on the balcony? You know it's my favourite spot." You reply with a grin, and Alexia somehow knew you were going to say that, almost as if she's heard those words leave your mouth maybe a few hundred times in the past.
"Of course. You go ahead, I'll get us some drinks."
You nod and walk through to her bedroom, one thing standing out to you; everything is exactly the same as it was before. That comforts you impossibly more than you yourself could ever understand. Future therapy topic?
However, there is one thing that jumps out at you. You walk over to where it stands on Alexia's dresser and pick it up, holding the object in your hand with a smile on your face.
"Ale, why do you have my favourite perfume here? I never once brought it to your apartment." You shout to where she was in the kitchen, no doubt her cheeks a bright pink colour at the fact she'd been caught out.
"Because I bought some, after you left." She replied, and you giggle to yourself at the ever so slightly embarrassed tone that creeps through.
"Liked the smell, did you?"
"Mm. Something like that." She grumbled.
You grin and place it down, heading over to the sliding door adjacent to her bed and opening it. The air that hits you and the sight that greets you causes a wave of familiarity to wash over you, one that you welcome straight away. You take a deep breath and bask in the feeling, leaning on the railing as your eyes raked over the view you adored.
A few minutes later and you hear Alexia walking out behind you, first placing the drinks on the small side table before joining you at the edge. She wraps an arm loosely around your waist and rests her chin on your shoulder, admiring the view of the city that was literally right on her doorstep.
"I missed this view." You break the silence first, voicing what Alexia already knew.
"I missed you." She murmurs, turning to press a kiss to your shoulder when she notices something. "Ah, I knew you never gave that back."
Delicately, she runs her index finger along the necklace that sat around your neck which she had gifted you way back when, quietly delighted to see you still wearing it. And it also aided her in not feeling so embarrassed about the earlier incident where you had found the perfume she bought in memory of you.
"Yeah, sorry about that." You mumble sheepishly, shivering when Alexia chuckles into your neck where her lips soon leave a kiss.
"No, I like that you still have it."
You hum in acknowledgement, content to stay here in the arms of your girlfriend as the locals carried on with the hustle and bustle of city life below you.
"This was my favourite thing about your apartment." You state a little while later, leaning your head against Alexia's.
"I remember." You feel her say it more than you hear it, before a thought clearly captures her attention as she stands up fully, still with her arm around you. "You could come here, uh... full time, you know?"
"You mean move in with you?" It's not the most surprising thing you'd heard from her in all honesty, but it was still a bit of a shock to the system.
"If you'd like. I know I would be happy with that."
"I would too, but... I think that maybe does cross the line of 'too soon' though." You reply with an apologetic smile, but Alexia understands instantly, of course she does.
"That's okay." She comments, one more kiss to your shoulder. "Do you think you'll ever come back to live here again? Barcelona, I mean."
With this city before you, this woman holding you and loving you so gently, and the sea and the sky merging into one in the far distance, you think that maybe life can be simple after all. That starts and ends with Alexia.
"I think it's only a matter of time."

Homesick
summary: home is where the heart is
warnings: angst? it’s got a happy ending though dw
a/n: ale ale ale, oi oi oi
word count: 463
-
As the plane taxies to a halt on the runway, a surge of anticipation ripples through you.
After a year away, the prospect of returning filled you with excitement, trepidation, comforting relief. The memories of your departure linger like ghosts in the back of your mind, reminding you of tearful goodbyes, salty kisses and promises to stay strong from across the Mediterranean.
But now, as the doors of the aircraft swing open and you step onto the tarmac, those memories fade into the background. All that matters is now, the feeling of solid ground beneath your feet and the knowledge that you were finally back where you belong.
As you make your way through the airport, every familiar sight and sound sends a jolt of nostalgia coursing through your veins. The scent of freshly brewed coffee from the café near Gate C, the sound of the baggage carousel whirring to life, each one felt like a welcome homecoming.
You weren’t born here. You weren’t raised here. But you made a life here.
Barcelona, with its winding streets steeped in history, its vibrant culture, its ability to welcome you with open arms and warm smiles.
The city that taught you freedom. Offered you new opportunities. Presented a real sense of belonging.
The city that gave you Alexia.
So amidst the hustle and bustle of the terminal, there was one sight that stood out above all others, standing there with a bouquet of flowers in hand, her eyes shining with unshed tears and her smile brighter than the Spanish sun.
You’ve never once missed the rain since Alexia first smiled at you. Green is now your favourite colour. Your opinion on tomatoes has changed in a way you didn’t expect.
“Welcome home,” she says, her voice soft as she pulls you into her arms. She almost drops the bouquet. Sunflowers are in season.
The feeling of her embrace is like home in itself. Warm, familiar, and comforting. In that moment, the weight of the past year melts away, leaving only the overwhelming sense of solace and joy at being back in her arms after so long apart.
Tears well up in your eyes as you hold her close, drinking in the sound of her laughter and the scent of her perfume. It was as if no time had passed at all. As if you had never left. And in that very moment, surrounded by the everyday ticking of the airport, you knew that you were exactly where you were meant to be.
Barcelona gifted you the world.
“I missed you,” you whisper, your voice cracking ever so slightly as you press your forehead against hers.
“I missed you too,” she replies, her breath warm against your ear. “But you’re here now, and that’s all that matters”

Shadows are to protect II
Victoria Pelova x Putellas!Reader
Alessia Russo x Putellas!Reader
Shadows are to protect I, III, IV
summary~ When you finally start to thrive at Arsenal there’s still one person that’s holding you back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You sat there. In the dark, on your grey couch, the picture of you and Alexia staring at you. The bright light of your screen brightened your face like the Barcelona sun had done a few months ago. You couldn’t run away anymore, you were stuck. No one to talk to and no one to come home to.
Looking down at your screen again you saw the little beads of salty water resting on your screen. And even though you’ve been lonely for far too long you’ve never let the evidence of salty water show it. You never really were a crier, Alexia had always told you to be strong and not to show anyone those emotions, they made you seem weaker than your were.
But when you really needed her she didn’t say a thing about being strong. When you’d go home and cried, you cried in her arms. She held you when you needed to without doubt. She didn’t need you to tell her what was wrong, she just knew that you needed her so she’d be there, always.
‘Ale, i need you’
And that’s how you landed on the first morning flight to Barcelona you could find. The ticket was as pricey as they could get but that didn’t matter, you just needed your sister.
The welcome was warm, like always. It was all too familiar. The airport where you’ve landed and departed from all those Barca years. The sun was at it’s brightest and it almost melted you to the dark tarmac of the airfield. And somehow that thought felt more enjoyable than any thought you had in the past week. Being stuck to Barcelona.
Alexia had told you to be strong and that she’ll visit you soon but you didn’t think that soon would be soon enough.
You got into an severely overpriced taxi at the airport and directed him towards your sisters house. The car was hot and it felt like your skin was melting away. You could see little beads of sweat forming on your driver’s forehead. You didn’t think you could miss a warm sweaty car this much but you had been missing it.
When the vibrating car stopped moving and the motor of the car was cooling down you got out. With both of your feet on the sidewalk of Alexia’s house you were stuck. You traveled all the way to her home to stand still in front of it.
She probably wasn’t even home. The Barca girls had training from 9 to at least 1 if they were lucky. When you finally got the courage to take another step you looked under one of the plants in front of her door. It was dead, you were sure of it but she kept it anyway. Honestly, you didn’t get it. Why do people get plants they know they can’t take care of. It just so sad to see something that was once so green and full of life dry out.
Alexia’s house was cold. Her dog Nala was waiting for her to return but was surprised by the sight of you. You hadn’t seen Nala in a while but you were so sure she would’ve remembered you, she would always remember you, like everyone else right? You loved Nala.
When you scrolled through an ad of a shelter for dogs you saw Nala. You read her description and immediately knew you had to give her a new life. Alexia was in a dark place and so was Nala, they needed eachother. So the next week you picked the princess up and drove to your sisters house to surprise her.
Alexia wasn’t really fond of having a dog in house but that changed so quick. Nala was Alexia’s princess, and yours too.
But Nala didn’t seem to remember anything from that story anymore. She wasn’t jumping on you or letting out some hard barks. The little dog was growling at you. She seemed to forget you, just like whole Barcelona did.
You sat there, on Alexia’s couch. The one that you used to crash on at least once a week. Nala was sat next to you, she was paying no mind to you. Scrolling through your Instagram feed you saw Alessia with Katie and Caitlin. It made you jealous to some extent. She had friends and you, you didn’t, not really. The girls were nice but they weren’t friends. At the moment you didn’t really have friends anywhere.
You heard the noise of keys and Nala’s ears shot right up. Alexia’s home.
You heard her grunt and drop her training bag at the door. Nala’s steps were going towards your sister and so were yours. “Hola, hermana.” you welcomed her. Her eyes shot up to your face and her arms flew open to embrace you.
You almost sprung into her arms. Alexia didn’t say anything, she just held you and you didn’t let go. “you’re gonna be okay.” she whispered and that’s when you lost it. Tears started to stream down your face. Alexia’s grey sweater had taken a darker shade of grey and she could feel the deathly grip you had on her sweater.
“I’m not gonna be okay Ale. I don’t know what i’m doing.” you cried. She didn’t assure you you didn’t, she didn’t tell you that you just needed to get used to England. She just hummed. And it kind of made you love her even more for it. She didn’t offer you some fake sympathy talk, she kept it real.
The both of you didn’t say much more that day. You went to sleep early and Alexia crawled next to you later that night. With her arms around you and a kiss to your forehead she wished you goodnight. It was nights like these that you missed more than anything.
You woke up around 4 am. Nala and Alexia were dead asleep so you picked your phone up from your nightstand. You had gotten one message. ‘Hey, i didn’t see you at practice today, are you okay? If you want to talk to anyone, i’m here’ you read. Victoria Pelova cared about you?
You knew Alessia and Victoria were good friends. And it made sense Alessia probably hadn’t told Victoria about.. you. Just like you still hadn’t told anyone about Alessia.
Alexia grumbled a bit and opened her eyes. “What are you doing hermanita?” she asked you tiredly. “Pelova, you know her. She was wondering where i was today and asked me if i’m okay and if i needed someone to talk to.” you explained. Alexia hummed understandingly. “I think you should talk to her. Maybe you’d get along eh?” she thought aloud.
She was right, you had to give her a chance. She was being nice and it wasn’t like you had any other friends in London. So you texted her back, ‘I’m in Barcelona at the moment, just needed to see some family. Maybe we could talk when i’m back?’.
Alexia didn’t exactly say that she wanted you out of her house after day three but you knew she did. So when she came home after training you took that as your cue to travel back to the still red North London.
You came home around dinner time and didn’t really have anything to eat. ‘Are you back in England yet?’ Victoria had texted. You texted her that you were and if she wanted to come over to order something. And in less than twenty minutes she was knocking on your door.
“I took some Chinese takeout with me on the way, hope you don’t mind?” she smiled. You thanked her with a grin.
Victoria seemed like a very extroverted and outspoken and maybe even a bit annoying type to you at training. But maybe that was just because she was hanging around Katie, Beth and Kyra. But now she seemed a lot calmer, the opposite of annoying really.
Vic didn’t mention your absence which was nice, you didn’t really want to explain all of that to her. You didn’t expect to have a lot in common with the Dutch girl. She had a really warm presence and you loved every bit of it. Maybe all you needed was a friend here.
Victoria was waiting at the entrance of the training centre. “Buen día!” she waved. “I didn’t know you could speak Spanish.” you said. “I can’t but i’ve started my Duolingo streak Spanish since yesterday!” she smiled proudly. She made you so happy, she learned Spanish just for you. You were starting to feel thankful for Alexia’s advice.
“I guess i’ll have to learn Dutch now?” you laughed. She nodded her head and offered to learn you Dutch if you gave her some Spanish lessons. It seemed like a pretty good deal.
You started to spend a lot more time with the brunette. She was good company and you actually started to learn Dutch. You planned a trip to The Netherlands together. She would show you the city and her previous club, Ajax.
Everything was going better. You were in a better mental place and physically you were unstoppable. Jonas started to give you a place in the starting lineup almost every game and even the fans started to love you. You even got your very own chant. You were on top of the League and could not be held back any longer, you were finally thriving in London.
Alessia was the only problem keeping you from being fully happy. Even though you only saw her at practice and games she still was being bitter to you. Whenever you were talking to Victoria she took her away from you with some bad excuse. It was hard for you to feel at home in the changing room without Victoria around.
Naturally fans started to speculate about the two of you. They were saying that you were in a relationship with the midfielder and that you’ve been hiding it for a while now. Victoria was a good friend, your bestfriend but that was it. Nothing more. You hadn’t had those sort of feelings since Alessia and they still hadn’t totally gone away. It was shit to still have those feelings for someone who made it very clear she didn’t reciprocate those feelings. So you opted to ignore those feeling all together.
Victoria came over after practice to bake a pie for your upcoming birthday. She told you that she was an absolute pro in baking apple pie but you knew she was lying. No way that the girl that couldn’t even cook rice without burning it can bake an actual good pie.
And just like you had predicted the pie wasn’t really pie-ing. There was flour and cinnamon all over your kitchen and on both of your clothes. “Sukkel!” you shouted at her when she tipped her glass of water off the counter. But you started laughing when she slipped and fell right to the ground that was still covered in white flour.
“Fuck!” she cursed whilst you were trying to hold yourself up while laughing uncontrollably.
The night went by quickly like it always did with the midfielder.
Victoria has been the little light in your dark thoughts and you were so thankful for her but when you bid her goodnight you didn’t expect her to kiss you. She was stood in front of you, in a black hoodie with white spots on it from your kitchen adventure. Her cheeks were red from all the laughing and drinking. And she was leaning in to kiss you.
You didn’t stop her though. And you definitely didn’t stop her when you saw the door across from yours open. You didn’t stop her when blue eyes focused on the two of you. And you didn’t stop when you heard a door shut.
Victoria waved goodbye and you stood still, staring at the two plants placed on the ground in front of you. The ones you had gifted Alessia. They were dead. You were the only one that kept them alive and now they were dead. You failed them.

———————————————————————
Friday, November 13; 11:45 AM - Room Ona and Alexia.
I'm just finishing packing my suitcase. Bronze told me this morning that she managed, after a long battle with Wiegman, to get my permission for this weekend. I was so happy that I jumped on her. Since Monday's incident, I've managed to stay calm. I'm not necessarily listening in class yet, but at least I've stopped responding to provocations. My flight is in just over two hours. I took the same one as last time. So, I will land in Barcelona in the evening. Bronze organized all my travels since everything had to be arranged at the last minute. For the rest, I took care of it. I called Sam to let Hector know to pick me up. Joan is still unaware of my return. It will be a surprise, his weekend. I'm about to leave. I'm happy but anxious at the same time. I dread my mother's reception. Bronze reassured me about my fears, but I already anticipate my mother's hurtful words. I turn to Alexia, who is on her bed. She’s waiting for her sister, as usual. I place my headphones around my neck just as there's a knock on the door. Bronze enters the room.
- Hey Bronze.
- Are you ready?
- Yep, I was just about to head down.
- How many times do I have to remind you about those headphones? You know they're not allowed outside the room.
- Yeah, yeah...
I take them off unconvincingly. Now is not the time to provoke her before my departure. I move toward Ale to hug her.
- We'll write to each other.
- Of course, I replied. See you Sunday evening! Have a good weekend.
- Thanks, you too.
I smile at her and grab my suitcase. Bronze greets Alexia before we leave the room. I drag my suitcase and tighten the strap of my backpack. I'm a bit nervous. I watch Bronze, who seems to want to accompany me to the exit.
- Anything planned for your first free weekend, Bronze?
- Well... Returning stuff to my ex and a night out with my friends, and you?
- No idea, I shrugged. I’m going to enjoy it as much as possible with Joan and try to see Mapi, I guess... I'll also have to confront my mother face-to-face.
She smiles softly, nodding. She knows I dread this moment. We've talked about it enough. Maybe she has calmed down in two weeks. We quickly reach the gate. I frown, not seeing any taxi.
- I thought you had everything planned?
The last thing I need is to be late and miss my flight! I start to panic. I definitely don't want to miss my flight.
- Relax. Come, follow me.
- And my taxi?
She gestures for me to pass through the gate. I walk out apprehensively, not understanding where she's taking me. She makes me walk to the adjacent street. I slow down when I recognize her car parked on the street. I look at her, waiting for an explanation.
- I’ll be your driver this time. I was planning to go downtown, so it would have been silly to call you a taxi.
My smile widens to the point of showing my teeth. If I expected that! The news delights me. It's certainly more pleasant to share the ride with a familiar face.
- And you had to park your car two streets away from the establishment for that?
- I didn't want to risk being seen together. People might think I'm showing favoritism.
- Isn't that the case?
- No, she giggles. I'm just more demanding with you.
I lose my smile, creating hers.
- Sure, I mumbled.
I get in the car after placing my suitcase next to hers in the trunk. It was the fastest trip I’ve ever had. I cleared my mind by humming along to the songs playing on the radio. I often got the lyrics wrong, making Bronze laugh. I was almost disappointed we arrived so quickly. The atmosphere was pleasant. She took a completely different route than my usual taxis. She avoided all the traffic jams. You might almost think they deliberately take the traffic to waste our time in their old cars. I'm surprised when Bronze parks her car in the airport parking lot and accompanies me inside. She could have just dropped me off, but I’m glad she’s coming with me. At least the wait will be shorter.
- What time do you land over there? Around eleven o'clock, right?
- That's right. I hope to sleep a bit more this weekend. I need to catch up.
- You'll see.
We've just checked in my luggage. Now we can wait in front of the boarding gate. We don't wait long before the intercom announces the gate is open. I tense up at the news. Deep down, I'm reluctant to go back. I'm afraid to face my mother, but I can't avoid her forever.
- It's time, says Bronze.
She stands up first. Thinking we won’t see each other for two days feels strange. We've been together every day since I came back. She’s been watching over me since my detox. Plus, she convinced me to continue my morning runs with her and to catch up on my classes in her office. Sometimes, I even start my homework there now that I’ve made good progress. I like her supervision. At least I know I’m working. I never had that before. I was always dependent on my classes and homework before she came into my life. It’s good she forces me to work in front of her. It makes me impose a regular rhythm on myself, unlike before. Concentration is hard to find with Alexia, who rarely leaves me alone. Sometimes Engen also bothers me, but Bronze quickly puts her in her place. They're so funny to watch together.
- Hand me your phone.
- Why? Are you going to confiscate it?
- No, she giggles. Trust me and give it to me.
I hand it to her, making sure to unlock it as she asked. I frown, watching her type on my screen before giving it back. I immediately check what she did, but she closed everything.
- I hope you won't give it to everyone. Write to me when you arrive or if you have any trouble this weekend.
- You added your number? I understand.
- Have a good weekend, Ona, she replies with a silly smile. Try to enjoy it and don’t forget our deal. I don't want to lecture you again; we've talked about it enough.
- Thanks for everything.
I hug her and kiss her cheek without really realizing what I'm doing. I just needed to show my gratitude. I wanted to pull away out of embarrassment, but she reacted first, wrapping her arms around my back. I let myself enjoy the moment.
- Have a good weekend, Lucy, I murmur before stepping back.
- Thanks. I'll come to pick you up myself Sunday evening. Make sure to come back in one piece this time.
- I'll try, I tease her. See you Sunday then.
I walk away to go through the boarding checks. I turn around one last time to make sure she’s still there. I feel a strange sensation seeing that she is. I give her a little wave, which she returns before I disappear into the corridor leading to the plane. I'm still happy to go home, even if it's not the same excitement as the first time. Seattle will miss me this weekend. It’s strange to think that after fighting tooth and nail to leave for almost a month. I still feel a little knot of anxiety in my stomach. I remember my last flight didn't go well, considering the stewardess who took care of me. I force myself to smile at her. She seems to recognize me too because she doesn’t give me the professional smile she just gave to the other passengers before me.
- Hello! How are you?
- Much better, thank you. Thanks also for what you did last time... I didn't get the chance to say it.
- No problem, she smiles warmly. Have a good flight.
I give her one last smile before moving forward. I find my seat and make myself comfortable by putting on my headphones and phone. I don't know where I get the courage to do a two-hour flight each weekend. It's probably the idea of seeing Joan again that motivates me. I decide to buckle up and lean against the window to find some restorative sleep.
Friday, November 13 - On the plane.
I groan as someone gently shakes me. I blink at the young stewardess. I remove one earphone to hear her say that landing is imminent. I stretch slowly while nodding. She gives me a smile as I fasten my seatbelt before continuing down the aisle. I amuse myself by looking out the window where it is now pitch black. The illuminated city is beautiful from above. I spent my flight sleeping again. Well, at least the two hours passed quickly. I smile softly, realizing I’m finally home. The landing goes smoothly. We're allowed to stand only once the plane is stabilized. I follow the crowd to the exit with just my Eastpak bag. I lower my headphones around my neck when I reach the end of the corridor. I look around. I have no trouble finding who’s waiting for me with a big smile and waving hands. He’s alone this time. No sign of Mapi. I told her about my return, but she must be busy with her girlfriend. I take a deep breath before approaching him. Let's not forget I sneaked out of Barcelona...
- Good evening Ona, I hope you had a good trip.
- Hey... I say timidly. It was fine. I slept
the whole way, so I guess it was good. How are you?
- Good, and you?
- Glad to see everyone again... Is Mom still very angry with me? I ask, biting my lower lip.
I prefer to know what awaits me before setting foot at home. I must have left quite a mess. Bronze said they were informed of the situation and that Wiegman regularly updated them on my condition.
- Let's say it could have been worse. She had time to calm down, but she’s waiting to have a serious discussion with you.
- Yes, I figured, I sighed.
- Everything will be fine, he tries to reassure me.
- We’ll see.
He smiles at me sadly. We both know that won't be the case. We retrieve my suitcase and head to the parking lot. There's a slight temperature change. Here, the sky is clear, and I feel the extra degrees. This change in temperature is strange. In Manchester, snow is threatening to fall soon.(in my universe its snowing in Manchester). Maybe there will be some when I return. I sit in the front since Mapi isn't here. The ride is calm. It's soothing. We talk about trivial matters. I appreciate Hector because he never brings up touchy subjects, like whether I’ve fully recovered from my detox. I finally take out my phone, remembering I have messages to send. I smile stupidly, thinking about my departure. I never imagined she would give me her personal number. It's touching and reassuring at the same time. I know I can contact her at any problem. I first text Mapi to let her know I've arrived, then reply to Alexia that I arrived safely. I then open a new message and look for Bronze's number. I frown when I can't find her in my contacts. I was starting to despair until I saw "Commander" in my contacts. I fiddle with my thumbs, not knowing how to start my message.
Me - 11:39 PM: Hey Luce! Nice to see your name in my contacts 😂 I just landed 30 minutes ago and I'm on my way home :) I hope you have a good evening and/or a good night...
I read my message several times before hitting send. I hope I wasn't too friendly for her... I leave my phone on my lap, waiting for a response from anyone. It doesn't take long to vibrate.
Commander - 11:41 PM: It's past midnight in Manchester, so it will be good night for me 😉 Sleep well :)
Me - 11:42 PM: At least let me get home before sending me to bed!! Anyway, I slept the whole trip... 🙄 What are you doing still awake ?
Commander - 11:43 PM: Too curious, Ona. Unprofessional 😉 And it's not a reason not to go to bed when you get home!
Me - 11:44 PM: You're no fun! It's nothing personal 😓 Well, I'm not sleepy anymore 🙁
- Did you make any friends? Hector asks.
- Huh? Oh, uh yes. A few.
- It's been a long time since I've seen you so happy just answering a message.
I raise an eyebrow at his implication. His smile makes me believe he doesn't think I'm writing to friends.
- I have no one in my life if that's what you're wondering, I chuckle.
- I didn't say anything... Why do you think of that right away?
I laugh, shaking my head. I can't help it if my instructor makes me smile. She keeps giving me orders from afar. It's quite strange to communicate with her by message, even though there's not much difference in her words. It's like I can hear her voice.
- I'm glad you're doing better since you've been at this school.
Am I better? Now that he says it, he's probably right. School isn't the worst thing that's happened to me in my life. I'm surrounded by wonderful people. Bronze, Alexia, and the others help me feel better. I'll never forget what I've been through, but I'm starting to accept myself and learn to live with my past. I feel less eaten up inside, and it makes me smile again. I wasn't happy here. The only time I pretended everything was fine was in front of Joan. I didn't want him to find out what a lousy big sister he had. I wanted to be the role model he deserves. The vibrations of my phone pull me out of my thoughts.
Commander - 11:49 PM: It's personal. Anyway, you already know what I'm doing. Go to bed, order from your instructor !
I already know? I furrow my brow, thinking. Oh, I think I remember. She mentioned she was going to have a drink with friends. The second part of the message makes me laugh even more. She'll never stop.
Me - 11:50 PM: Stop giving me orders from km away!!!
Commander - 11:51 PM: Sleep well, Ona :)
Me - 11:51 PM: Tsss! You're boring! Hope you don't come home too late!!!
Commander - 11:55 PM: That's not for you to decide 😉 Now stop writing to me. I'm already regretting giving you my number!
Me - 11:52 PM: Mpf... 😒 Stay reasonable at least! Well, you're lucky, I'm almost home! I'll listen to you and go to bed.
Commander - 12:00 AM: Very good initiative :) See you tomorrow.
I smile at her last message, received just as we stop in front of the gate. I'm happy to be able to text her from here. I feel she'll be a great support if needed. I watch the gate open at a snail's pace. Reality hits me hard when I see my residence standing proudly before us. No lights are on, at least. The confrontation will be tomorrow then. Hector pulls the car into the garage before cutting everything off. We get out, and he insists on handling my suitcase now. I let him go ahead and carry it upstairs. I take off my shoes in the hall before following him up. I thank him for everything once we reach my bedroom door. We wish each other good night before he disappears down the stairs. When I enter my room, I see a small lump in my bed. It seems Joan has taken to sleeping in my bed every night. I smile at the thought. I'll gather information tomorrow morning. For now, I make as little noise as possible with my suitcase. I leave it in a corner of the room, then retrieve pajamas from my closet. I give him a gentle kiss on the forehead before locking myself in the bathroom to brush my teeth and undress. I keep only my underwear and complement it with an old T-shirt of my father's that reaches mid-thigh. I love this kind of pajamas. I had to get used to wearing shorts at school because I'm not alone, but I'm much more comfortable like this. I leave the bathroom and finally slip under the covers of my bed. It's a real pleasure to finally sleep in my big bed.
Saturday, November 14; 10:35 AM - Ona's Room.
-ONA !
I jump as I feel a bundle on top of me. Oh my God. I groan at this wake-up call I'm no longer used to. I barely have time to sit up before two arms squeeze me in a hug. I return the hug with one arm while rubbing my eyes with the other.
- Hey hermano, I whisper softly.
- You didn't tell me you were coming back!
- It's better to have a surprise, isn't it?
- No! I'd rather know in advance.
I smile as he moves away, crossing his arms and making an adorable pout. I stretch properly before letting myself fall back on the bed. I'm way too lazy to get up right away.
- Is that your school jacket?
I follow his finger pointing to my desk chair. Indeed, my military jacket is hanging there. It's so loose and easy to wear that I've gotten used to wearing it all the time. Nothing forbids wearing it outside. Bronze didn't say anything when she saw me leaving with it yesterday. She just let me finish my outfit.
- Yes, that's the one.
- Will you lend it to me sometime?
- You'll have to grow a bit first, I chuckle. I missed you, you know.
- I missed you too!
- Oh yeah? A lot a lot?
- A lot a lot! Will you have breakfast with me?
- Yes, just give me a moment to put on some jogging pants.
I barely have time to respond before I see him already leaving. I guess it wasn't a real question... I finally get out of bed to look for joggers in my suitcase. I quickly put them on and step into the hallway to see that he's waited for me. I smile as he reaches out his arms. I don't hesitate for a second to pick him up and go downstairs with him in my arms.
- Mom and your dad aren't here?
- I think they're working.
- Hmm.
I'm relieved to learn that I still have some time to come up with arguments against my mom. I enter the kitchen where I find Sofia and Samuel. I set my brother on a high chair.
- Hey guys, I greet them with a hug each.
- Hey you.
- How are you?
I smile as Sofia closely examines me. I haven't seen them since my rehab, after all. I know she was already worried during my first stint here. She was the one who mostly took care of me. I'm really glad I didn't put her through a second one.
- Much better, don't worry. They took good care of me. How did my mom take it?
- Angry... Very angry. She wanted to send you to rehab again, Sam admits. She changed her mind after a long heated discussion with your director.
- Yeah, I know. Actually, my boss did the blockade. Wiegman handled the negotiations.
- Oh, we weren't aware of that, Sofia admits.
- My mom probably wasn't either. Bronze insisted on taking care of me personally. I stayed in her room for a week.
- She was brave...
- Yeah, I chuckle. I don't know how she managed to put up with me.
If only she knew that the crises she saw were nothing compared to the ones at the camp... She's always taken such good care of me since I got back home. I wouldn't want to upset her for no reason.
- What are they talking about, Ona?
- Nothing, don't worry.
- Did you relapse ?
I close my eyes at his words. Fortunately, he's behind me. How can a six-year-old understand this kind of thing? I showed him too much for his young age, it seems. I gather my courage to turn around
- It’s settled, I assure you.
- You told me you wouldn’t leave again because of this!
- I’m not leaving again because of this.
- You’re lying!
- I’m not lying to you, Joan. If I leave, it’s to go to school, I promise.
- That’s not what they just said!
- I had a slip-up, but it wasn’t my fault, okay? I promise the issue has been resolved at my school. I even promised my supervisor not to do it again.
- You promised me the same thing, and you did it again.
I sigh as I see him on the verge of tears. I feel extremely guilty. It’s hard for someone as young as him to understand.
- I made a compromise with this person, Joan. If I touch it again, I’ll lose a lot. She’s going to help me get out of this, I promise.
- Really? She’s going to help you...?
I’ve just realized the weight of my words. It seems we say things we truly believe under pressure. I release the pressure from my body.
- I... Yeah... She’s going to help me.
I need to face the truth. Bronze is the one who can help me the most. She’s already done a lot. Joan finally lets me get closer. I take the opportunity to hug him. I don’t like seeing him so upset because of me. I lift him to sit him on my lap, then I thank Sam who has just placed our breakfasts on the counter. I smile at him to reassure him of the visible concern in his expression.
- What compromise did she impose on you? he asks.
- I’m not allowed to return in withdrawal, otherwise, she’ll ban me from leaving the camp until the end of the year.
- What do you mean, no leaving?
- No permissions, no field trips... Basically, no outings.
- Oh...
- Yeah, oh, I repeat. I don’t have the right to make mistakes.
- Your supervisor is very strict... comments Sofia.
- Hmm, but very effective.
- Anyway, I like her, Joan chimes in.
- Oh yeah? I laugh.
- Yes! Just talking about her makes you smile when you usually don’t. Plus, you just said she’s going to help you, so I like her even more.
I’m stunned by his arguments. This kid continues to amaze me every time. He’s far from being dumb. He knows I don’t smile much except with him, Sam, Sofia, and sometimes Mapi.
- Oh... I reply in surprise. She would be pleased to hear that.
- Can I see her one day?
- That might be complicated.
The idea quickly fades as he starts telling me what he’s learning at school. He’s just entered the first grade, so he’s starting to learn to read and write.
- So, what do you want to do today?
- Do I get to choose what I want?
- Yep. It’s your day. We’ll do whatever you want.
- I want to go to the ice rink then!
- Alright, I laugh at his enthusiasm. We’ll go to the ice rink.
I’m not even surprised. I got him used to the ice rink at a very young age before I fell into drugs. I used to love that place. It’s been ages since I last went there. I promised him we’d go back once, and I think now is the right time. I finish my breakfast and leave Joan with Sofia while I take a shower. I give myself a bit of time to get ready before going back downstairs. I deserve a little moment for myself. They’ve become rare. Once I’m all ready, I have some time left before lunch. So I join Joan in front of the TV. It’s nice to be able to sit on a couch. Even if it’s cartoons, it’s so much better to enjoy a screen alone. The only place we have a TV at the camp is in the common room, so watching it there isn’t pleasant. I take this time to check my phone, which I haven’t touched since yesterday. Mapi replied saying that I need to reserve my evening for her and that I can’t refuse. I guess I’ll go. At least I’ll have seen everyone this weekend. She could have left me out because of her girlfriend, but she didn’t. People are always different when they’re in a relationship, but not Mapi. The only thing that distances us is my move to Manchester because we don’t see each other as much. She’s my best friend for a reason. Once the message is sent, I go to Bronze’s chat. My thumbs hover hesitantly over the keys. I draft a message that I’m afraid to send. I don’t want to bother her and make her truly regret giving me her number. Also, it’s noon there. It’s not even certain that she’s awake since she was out last night. I take a deep breath and press send without thinking.
Me - 11:27 AM: Hey sleepyhead. Still in bed?
Commander - 11:35 AM: Sleepyhead? I thought you knew me better than that! I bet it’s you who just woke up.
She replied. She replied!!! I really thought I was going to bother her, but it doesn’t seem like it.
Me - 11:36 AM: No, but I slept until 10:30! And you? Do you ever sleep?
Commander - 11:38 AM: Haha! I’m still human, Ona. I just have my habits.
Me - 11:38 AM: Like what?
Commander - 11:40 AM: Running?
Me - 11:44 AM: At noon ? On a Saturday morning?!
Commander - 11:45 AM: At 7:30, my dear 😉
Me - 11:45 AM: I maintain what I think: You’re not normal.
Commander - 11:46 AM: Might as well stay fit if you can’t spend your morning in bed with someone, haha.
Me - 11:46 AM: OK... I was not at all prepared for that kind of response... Now I’m imagining you with a girl...
Commander - 11:49 AM: Get that image out of your head right now! I wasn’t talking about that 😐
Me - 11:50 AM: Too late! I didn’t think of you like that 😂😂😂
Commander - 11:52 AM: You’re really silly! I was just thinking about enjoying the company of someone. Anyway, let’s move on. Is Joan happy to have you back?
Me - 11:54 AM: What a topic change! Oh dear, and I’m the coward! He woke me up this morning by jumping on me. He’s just as sweet as you if you know what I mean 😂
Commander - 11:55 AM: I hope so, you shouldn’t lose the habit of animated wake-ups 😉 At least someone’s happy :) I hope you’re taking care of him this weekend.
Me - 11:56 AM: Of course! We’re going to the ice rink this afternoon :) And I’m seeing Mapi tonight.
Commander - 11:58 AM: Cool. And your parents? Did everything go well?
I sigh as I read the last message. I was about to reply when Sam calls us for lunch. Exactly noon, it’s noon sharp here!
Me - 12:00 PM: My mom is working. I haven’t seen her yet. I’m not going to avoid my scolding according to others. I’m going to eat now, we can talk later if you don’t mind.
Commander - 12:01 PM: That’s normal, but it’ll be fine, don’t worry. Enjoy your meal :)
I smile at her last message. Always words to reassure me. In the end, I don’t think I disturbed her given the way she conversed with me. I put my phone away and head to the kitchen with Joan. He won’t let go. He’s practically glued to me, as if he’s afraid I’ll leave. Maybe he is, since that’s what I did last time. I’m lucky I didn’t hear any reproaches from him. They would have hurt me more than my mother’s. In the meantime, I sense that Sunday night’s departure will be very painful for him. As for me, I almost feel like I belong more in the boarding school than in this house. If my friends and Joan weren’t here, I wouldn’t set foot in it again. For now, I’m enjoying the time I have. I’m lucky to be surrounded by people like them. I’m only realizing their importance now and I plan to make the most of them this weekend..

summary: moving from germany to spain is no easy feat, but luckily yn has frido and mapi to help
-> ingrid and mapi aren’t together for this, and never were
-> i apologise if any of the translations are wrong
𖦹 masterlist
𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗘 𝗙𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 bayern to barcelona felt like it was insanely long, but really it was only two hours.
i got bored super easily and had no one to talk to for the time we were in the air. i was moving from bayern munich to barcelona, which was a big change for me.
i knew i wouldn't have a language barrier because i knew spanish but it was like moving schools. i have to learn a new city, where everything is and how to get places. and that not even including meeting new people.
i was a very social person, i loved to have company but that didn't stop me from being nervous when i had to make new friends or talk to people i'd never met before. and it didn't help that my new teammates were some of the best players in the world.
we got into the airport at 12:05 pm barcelona time and i ordered a taxi to my new apartment. it wasn't that far from the home stadium that i'd training at when i officially started at the club, maybe a 10 minute walk.
but first i had planned a trip to one of their home games to see what exactly i was getting into. their first game of the season was tomorrow night; the same stadium i lived by, and it was against valencia.
i wouldn't lie, i'm excited to see the players, especially knowing that frido plays here now. she was at the club for two years from 2017 to 2019 and we talked a lot when she was there. she moved to wolfsburg and then barcelona, so this was the first time i'd seen her properly in a couple of years.
the stadium was packed for the first game of the season, majority of the fans dressed in barcelona jerseys and waving flags around. it was exciting to see and think about the prospect that these fans would be cheering me on in a couple of weeks.
barcelona won that game, 6-0 with two own goals scored from valencia. i made my way down to the rail where i saw frido signing shirts. i waited until she was close enough and called out to her, she looked up and spotted me, her eyes widening.
"yn! what are you doing here?"
"here to see you, and meet my new teammates. care to introduce me?" i nodded over to where some other barca players were chatting.
she grinned, obviously putting the pieces together and understanding that i was moving to her team.
"absolutely. come down here."
she reached up to where i was and lifted me over the barrier. she signed a couple more things and took some photos before we walked to her friends. i knew they were staring at me the second frido lifted me on to the field.
"ale! mapi, irene, ingrid! i'd like you to meet someone."
they all turned to me, the four pairs of eyes boring into me. i threw on a smile and held out my hand to each of them.
"nice to meet you, i'm yn yln."
the shorter girl from the group perked up when i said my name.
“¿como yn del bayern munich?” (like yn from bayern munich?)
“la única. mapi leon, ¿verdad?” (the one and only. mapi leon, right?)
she nodded and i grinned, she looked slightly taken aback that i could understand and speak fluent spanish. the other three introduced themselves then.
"yn is joining us in a couple of weeks. she's moved from bayern to barca, a german international."
"thankyou frido, for the introduction. and yes i can speak spanish."
it was a great way to meet some of the team before my first training with them in two weeks.
the time went by quickly from when i first arrived in barca and then officially starting at the club, but i was excited to see the girls again and meet the rest of them. i walked down to the grounds and met frido out the front.
we walked to the changing rooms where i dropped my bag off and grabbed my cleats. then we walked out to field and over to the covered gym they had. the coach, jonatan met us there and introduced himself, before announcing to the whole team who i was and that i was joining the team.
mapi and alexia came up to us and welcomed me back, mapi practically bounced her way over and gave me a hug while ale was more relaxed.
we got straight into gym then finishing with some mini games between the players.
——
it had been a week since i was at barca, i was settling in nicely and really enjoying my time here. all the girls were lovely but i was especially close with frido, because we knew each other previously, and mapi, who had become very close over the time i'd been there.
we had a 'team bonding' event tonight as lucy liked to call it. her and kie were hosting it at their place and it was basically a night were the whole team comes and spends time together doing anything and everything.
mapi had offered to pick me up and i gladly accepted, becoming quite fond of the short spanish woman.
it was now the evening and i had grabbed my pre packed bag and phone and rushed downstairs and out the door to where mapi was waiting in her car.
lucy informed me that most girls left before it got too late but i was welcome to stay the night if i wanted to, so my bag was fully prepared if i did stay the night. i joined mapi in her car and she drove us to lucy and kies house.
almost the whole team was already there when we arrived, some turned up early to help lucy and kie prepare for twenty-two 'kids' running around their house.
"hola chicas!" (hello girls!) mapi burst through the door with me right behind her. she was always full of energy and i loved it. the team matched her energy and cheered when she made her entrance.
it was such a great vibe for the evening, with lucy and kie already ordering a bunch of food that we could eat for dinner. there was a list of movies that we voted on and ended up putting on some random disney movie.
by the time the movie was nearing the end which was only a couple of hours later, some of the girls were packing up their things to leave and go to their own homes. however me and mapi were still on a couch in the living room.
at some point in the film i'd gotten a bit tired and cuddled into mapi. i think the spanish woman had a heart attack because she didn't move for a bit, until i looked at her and smiled.
we spent the rest of the movie like that, cuddled into each other.
lucy and kie had retired to their own room, leaving the rest of the girls who were staying to make themselves comfortable. mapi and i stayed on the couch along with ona who was fast asleep. i think i had gotten real tired right at the end and shut my eyes for a bit.
i hadn't fully fallen asleep yet and could still hear things, it was more of a lucid dream state.
however my acting must have fooled mapi because she brushed my hair out of my eyes and slightly caressed my face. i made no move to stop
her as she spoke soft spanish to my 'sleeping' form.
"god you look so pretty, mi corazón." (my heart)
i heard her, loud and clear, although they were the last words i'd hear for the night. i fell asleep then and didn't remember much else.
——
lucy dropped me back home the next morning, since mapi was still asleep. i didn't want to wake her and lucy was already up so i left mapi a note and grabbed my stuff. once i was home, the only words flowing through my mind being mapi's words from last night.
it made me think of how close we had become during the time i'd been with the club, which was not a lot. however mapi made it seem like we'd easily known each other for years. i admired the shorter spanish woman and i knew that what we had was slowly changing from friends to something more.
i walked down to training the next day, fully prepared to talk to mapi.
after everyone had gone through training, i pulled mapi over, asking if she wanted to go out for coffee. she agreed and volunteered her car, simply because i didn't have one yet.
we were at a little cafe in the city, just sipping on our drinks when i decided i'd stalled for long enough.
"so, did i look pretty while i slept at lucy's, mi corazón?" (my heart)
my eyes were trained on her face the entire time, not wanting to miss her reaction. she immediately looked to me, eyes slightly widened and a somewhat shocked expression on her face.
"you thought i was asleep, didn't you?" i was now fully grinning with a mischievous glint in my eye.
"i can explain." she seemed extremely nervous, although she had no reason to be. i wasn't mad or angry or upset, i just thought it was funny how this turned out.
"yn, ilikeyoumorethanfriends." she rushed it out, although i had an idea of what she said.
"slow down, maria, i don't speak gibberish." she blushed when i said her first name.
"i like you more than friends, yn."
"much better."
mapi didn't respond, only sat looking at me for a bit longer.
"that's it? you're not saying anything?" she almost looked offended, like it was criminal not to like her back.
"well maria, you're in luck. i like you more than friends too."

Those Three Letters • Alexia Putellas
Tumblr media
Not sure how good this turned out to be, but I hope you like it. Enjoy!
Request: "In the trailer of Alexias documentary they say that Alexia turned off her phone after the injury. Can you write a story about reader and Alexia thats set during that time. Eventually reader is able to get a hold of Alexia maybe showing up to her appartement. Taking care of Alexia, making sure that she and Nala are okay, updating Alexias family and taking her to her apointments. Reader being her shoulder to cry on and pick Alexia up get a bit of faith back into her and being able to convince Alexia that she can be a great capitana from the sidelines also."
Part 2 You Can
Word count: 1,6k
Finishing up the late training session, you slipped on your sneakers and a hoodie and waved bye to the girls in the locker room.
As you walk down the hallway you fish your phone out from your right pocket, looking up at the last second before almost colliding with a body. You smile up at your captain.
“Gonna go talk to your girl?” Leah smiles down at you sweetly.
“Yeah, yeah. Schedules have been busy so I’m hoping to catch her.” you lightly blush at the thought of your girlfriend.
“Well good luck with that Y/N/N!”
“Thank you, goodnight Leah!” you wave her goodbye, your thumb already searching through your contacts before pressing on one.
You hold the phone to your ear as you walk to your room with a soft smile, but frown when no one picks up. You knew Alexia was off from training as well by now and the two of you had planned on talking tonight.
You call again, and again, and when she doesn’t pick up again, and again, you start to get worried. Tossing your phone onto your bed you decide to get ready for the evening instead, hoping that she’d at least message you to tell you what was up.
Your phone goes off suddenly, the ringtone breaking you out of your staring contest with yourself in the mirror. Your toothbrush is hanging out of your mouth as you race for your phone,  answering it with a confused face when you realize it’s Mapi calling.
“Hey Mapi, what’s up?”
“Y/N, hola, hey, hi so something happened and Ale isn’t okay and I don’t know what to do and I need your help!” she rushes out and you go to calm her down before your ears perk up.
“Ale’s in trouble?” you ask almost breathlessly.
The most intense part of the Euro’s was barely in a week, everyone was excited for it and you knew Alexia had been waiting for this. To hear that something might not allow her to play…you feared the worst.
“What is it, María, what happened?”
“ACL” God, those three letters that you feared so much, one of the most dreaded injuries, especially in women’s football. That never meant anything good, this was serious.
“Y/N, I need you to come down here. I don’t know what’s going on with her, she hasn’t been answering any of us in the past two days. We were only told now what happened to her.”
That made sense, you had the first Match of the Euro’s yesterday and although the two of you would always wish each other good luck, you didn’t dwell on the absence of a message from her for too long. You knew the both of you were very busy people and she’d try to catch up later.
But now as you stand in the middle of the room, eyes wide, breath still and your toothpaste almost dripping down your chin you realize just how stupid that excuse sounded.
Ending the call with Mapi, you get yourself to look presentable before racing down to Sarina’s office.
Once you reach the door, you hastily knock on the wood until you’re let in.
“Hey coach, sorry, I really need to talk to you.” you tell her all that you knew and she eventually agrees to let you go, though with a warning that you wouldn’t play the full 90 minutes against Norway since you’d be missing a few training days.
By the time you get to the airport it’s already 8pm, you’d land in Barcelona at around midnight.
You keep Mapi updated and although you had told her you could take a taxi, she insisted on picking up her best friend from the airport.
When Mapi’s car rolls up in front of Alexia’s apartment it is well into the night, but knowing the Barcelona captain she was still going to be up no matter how tired she was after the day of her surgery.
You hated that you hadn’t been there for her when she had to go through such a thing, but you knew she needed you now more than ever and you were going to be there no matter what, even if it meant maybe missing the match against Norway.
You let yourself into her apartment, it’s dark but you can make out the silhouette of Nala before she jumps into your arms. You give her a little love before getting her something to eat, you weren’t sure how well Alexia had been taking care of herself and her dog right now.
As you walk further into the home you let your backpack - the only thing you had brought onto the plane with you - slide down your shoulder and land next to the wall of the living room.
That’s when you spot her, the warm color of the lamp lighting up the side of her face as she’s slumped over on the couch, her leg propped up. You note the deep frown she has, the creases in her forehead and the fact that she hadn’t noticed someone entering her apartment. It all worried you even more.
You move in front of her and squat down to be on her level before you place a careful hand to the side of her face. Cupping her cheek you turn her head towards you and wait for her eyes to focus on you, the deep glare slowly vanishing as she stares into your eyes.
“Alexia, bebé.” you whisper out as your thumb slowly strokes over her cheek bone. That’s all it takes for her as she breaks, a painful sob leaving her lips. You pull her into you, mindful of her leg and hold her close as she cries into your neck.
You fight back your own tears, ultimately failing, and repeatedly kiss her shoulder as you mutter words of comfort into her ear. She settles eventually and pulls back from you, though she doesn’t go far, desperate to still be close to you.
“I wanted to play so bad.”
“I know, I know, love. “ you say as you wipe away the few tears rolling down her cheek. “It won’t be long Ale, you’re strong, you know this. And I’ll be here, yeah? We’ll do it together.” you tell her honestly, kissing her cheek when she gives you a tiny smile.
“Gracias, mi amor. Gracias, I don’t know what I’d do without you.” she pulls you in again and you hug her back tightly. You help her get ready for the night, gently washing the day off her body and holding her close when she breaks down again.
You kiss her injured knee gently and tuck her into bed. It’s the early hours of the morning when you manage to get her to sleep and you slowly slip out from under the covers. You watch as she cuddles into your pillow and you move her hair out of her face before making your way out the bedroom door.
Eli is the first person you call, Alexia’s mom, and she immediately picks up the phone despite the sun barely being up. You fill her in on the news and promise her to take care of her daughter as you ask her to come around for the next day.
Alexia would need her family close to her, especially once you’d have to go back to England for the Euro’s.
You take her to her appointments during the next few days and help out her family who have come around Alexia’s place everyday. It’s four days later that you pack your bag again, knowing you’d have to get on the earliest flight possible.
You’re about to walk to Alexia’s room when her sister pulls you aside and into a hug. You hug back the younger brunette fiercely, knowing that her sister’s injury and mood had been hard on her emotionally as well.
“She’s gonna need you more than us, you know.” she whispers to you.
“What?” you pull back from the hug, confused as to what she meant.
“My sister, she’s going to need you more than anyone Y/N.” you’re about to shake your head at her words but she interrupts you. “You’re her person, she’ll want you by her side, more than me or Mama.”
“I’ll do my best to be there for her.” you nod at Alba.
“You already have.” she answers you with a smile before kissing your cheek and nudging you towards her sister’s bedroom.
Walking through the doorway Alexia is sitting on the edge of her bed, looking up at you with big eyes. You cup her cheeks, her arms circling around your waist as she rests her chin on your stomach.
“I have to go amor.” you tell her quietly, hating that you had to leave her when she was hurt, but you knew you had to get back to England if you wanted to play in the tournament.
“Sí, mi amor. I know.” she lets out a sigh. Her arms slowly reach up and she tugs you down to her level, pulling you into a kiss.
You kiss her back softly, your thumb stroking her jaw as she holds you impossibly close.
“I’ll be back, love, and you’ll be back on that football pitch sooner than you think.” You tell her, confident in her rehab and her strength.
"And until then you’ll be the best Capitana for the team, even if it’s from the stands.” She nods at you, giving you a gentle smile and kissing you one last time before you’d have to leave for the airport.
You knew this would be a hard and long journey for her, but Alexia also knew that with you by her side she could do this.
You and her, together.

Gavi- Birthday surprise
After weeks of planning and what feels like millions of phone calls it's finally Pablo's birthday and everything should hopefully come together. On my birthday Pablo went all out so I wanted to do the same so that's what I am attempting to do. It has been difficult as Pablo and I are long distance while I'm in university but I think I have been trying my best to get everything sorted and exactly how I want it. As much as I've planned a lot of things the part I'm most excited about is getting to surprise him as he thinks that I won't be able to make it out to Barcelona this weekend. He was so disappointed when I said I wouldn't be there so now I can't wait to see his reaction when he comes home from training to me being at his place.
So far everything is going to plan as when I got up to get ready for my flight I managed to order Pablo some breakfast which I know arrived just after he woke up as he text me to thank me. Just to make sure he didn't get suspicious I spent while texting him as he was getting ready as most days we do that because sometimes it's the only time we are both free to talk. Just as my flight was boarding Pablo told me he had to leave for training which was perfect timing yet again. Now that Pablo's at training and I'm on my flight things should be pretty straightforward but until I set foot in Pablo's house I can't be fully relaxed as things could still go wrong and ruin the surprises I have planned.
My flight touched down exactly on time and I ran through the airport collecting my suitcase along the way before getting in a taxi. Pablo doesn't like me taking taxis but in this situation I don't have any other option so I made sure to give the driver a slightly differently address and I had sunglasses on so the driver couldn't see my eyes just in case he might recognise me. As I expected I made it to my destination safely and I walked a few houses down until I reached Pablo's place. When I had to move away for university Pablo gave me a key to his place so that if I ever wanted to come back home without planning a trip I didn't have to wait for him to be home. In this situation having a key is really helpful as I was able to let myself in and start decorating the place.
Half of my suitcase was filled with decorations as I didn't want to have to buy them here in case they didn't have what I wanted as I don't have much time to waste. Because my time is limited I got started straight away by blowing up the millions of balloons I brought which I'm definitely regretting now. Once I started I got a good system going and before I knew it all turned balloons were blown up and now I just have to put everything up. I wanted to put the balloons all around so I started with hanging them around the lights which involved standing on a chair which Pablo will tell me off for later but I can cope with that. It took a while but eventually I got everything up but then I had the brilliant idea to out a few balloons on the door so that Pablo would see them when he got home and would hopefully be confused for long enough that I could really surprise him.
By the time I was done it wasn't long until he would be home so I found my hiding spot and while I waited I put together a post for Pablo's birthday as I do it every year even though no one other than him really cares. Just as I clicked post I heard a car door close outside and all of a sudden I got super nervous because what if Pablo doesn't want to see me. I had to put that out my mind as the door opened and I saw Pablo drop his bag and put his keys down while looking around clearly confused by what I'd done to the door. Just as he was about to walk away I jumped out from my hiding spot and scared the life out of him to begin with before he realised it was me. Once he realised he came straight over and picked me up in a tight hug while leaving kisses all over my face and neck.
"What are you doing here?" He asked
"I'm here to surprise you" I said
"Well I'm definitely surprised you scared the shit out of me" he laughed
"I'm sorry but your face was funny I don't think I'll ever be able to get you that good ever again" I said
"You better not next time I might die of a heart attack" he joked
"Come on I have more to show you" I said dragging him into the living room
"Oh wow how long did this take you?" He asked
"Not too long but the stuff took up most of my suitcase so I'm probably going to need to steal some of your clothes" I said
"I like the sound of that" he smirked
I slapped his chest before getting him to sit down with me as I wanted to spend time together as we haven't seen each other in ages and while he was in the USA we didn't get to talk much. Within seconds we were deep in conversation about everything he did in the states and he wouldn't stop telling me how much he wanted us to go out there together so he can take me to all the places he saw. He showed me all of the pictures he took while he was out there too some of which he already sent me but I still liked seeing the selfies he took even if he needs lessons on how to take them. While he was gone all I really did was prep for going back to uni but he insisted that I tell him about every little thing I did so we talked about my work and I showed him the research I had already done. He doesn't completely understand what I'm studying but he always takes and interest and tells me I'm smart which really helps keep me going during the exam seasons.
We spent hours cuddling and catching up before I remembered the reason I flew out here and ran off to get Pablo's presents which also took up quite a bit of space in my suitcase. I spent quite a while trying to find the perfect presents for him so I'm excited to see what he thinks as I think I did a good job. I have always loved giving gifts so as I put Pablo's presents in his lap and sat down not being able to hide the wide smile on my face. The first present was a pair of sunglasses I knew he had been looking at then I got him a few new hoodies which will eventually end up mine as much as his but he doesn't mind. I got him a few other things and then he got to the last present which I was most nervous about. He opened it and came across the scrapbook I had put together which had pictures of us from all of the important moments in our relationship and then there was loads of blank pages so we can add all our future memories to it.
"This is so sweet I love it" he said
"I'm glad you like it I was worried you'd think it was lame" I said
"No I love it I can't wait to add to it in the future" he said
"I wrote a little note at the back too" I said
Instead of buying a card I decided to write in the back of the scrapbook as that way he can keep it forever. Neither of us are good at expressing our feelings with words and are much better at showing our feelings so it was hard for me to write the note but I did my best to try and express my true feelings. As I watched him read it my hands were sweating like crazy but when I saw his cheeks turn pink and his eyes glass over a little I calmed down again. After he read the whole thing he closed the book and just engulfed me in a hug while kissing me. Pablo really isn't one to talk too much so when he whispered in my ear how much he loved me I knew he truly meant it and it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
After a while of letting him cuddle me I asked what he wanted to do because although I had a few ideas I wanted him to decide what he wanted to do for his birthday. To my surprise Pablo just wanted to stay in and cuddle which wasn’t what I thought he’d want to do but I could never say no to that request. Once I had agreed Pablo quickly laid down and pulled me on top of him which is his favourite way to cuddle as he can hold me as close as he wants to and play with my hair. Today he decided he wanted to play with my hair so he took it out of the ponytail I had put it in to travel and started running his fingers through it to get all the knots out before putting them all back in by wrapping my hair around his fingers.
While we were playing down together I put a movie on for us to have on in the background. We both mostly ignored the movie as we were just talking to each other or just enjoying being together as soon we will both be a lot busier so we won’t get to have this time together. As the day went on we barely moved from our spot on the sofa until it started to get late and we were both getting hungry. Even though we shouldn’t because of Pablo’s diet I ordered dinner for us so that we could eat without having to leave the comfort of our spot on the sofa for more than a few minutes and because I think Pablo deserves a treat.
After an evening of doing nothing just like most of the day Pablo carried me upstairs to bed and gave me one of his T-shirts to wear as I didn’t really have room to pack anything to sleep in. While I did my skincare he kept his arms around my waist the entire time so that the second I was done he could bring me to the bed and go back to cuddling.
“Have you had a good birthday?” I asked
“I’ve had the best day thank you for doing all of this for me you’re the best” he said
“There’s not need to thank me you deserve it all and a lot more” I said
“Well I’m going to thank you anyway because you made today exactly how I wanted it to be” he smiled
“I’m happy I could do that for you but I’m exhausted so goodnight birthday boy” I said
“Goodnight mi amor” he whispered

Hey, how's it going? I love your Pedri stories and your writing. You could write one from Pedri that he has a colorful friendship with Y/n, but he wanted something more with her, but the two don't have time for a relationship. Y/N and Pedri try to take a vacation to see each other, because they haven't seen each other for months, and luckily they managed to stay on vacation for two months, but maybe the relationship will change now (sorry if it got confusing) Thank you.
Tumblr media
A/N: Hi, I decided to put these two requests together and of course changed it up a bit. Hope you guys like it.
•••
He smiled into the phone.
-I’ll see you in a few hours.-
-Can’t wait to see you, Pedrito.- You said as you ended the call.
You had known Pedri for years. During one of your visits to Barcelona the two of you had ended up sleeping together. And it became a constant occurrence every time you were in the same city. It was fun and exciting. Every time he traveled with the team you looked at your calendar and as serendipitous as the universe was the two of you ended together more times than none.
Last time Pedri had traveled to Paris for a day when he had the day off to meet with you. -I want more.- He said as his lips traveled down your neck. -What do you mean?- He pulled away from you.
You had told him a long distance relationship would never work. You didn’t want to get your heart broken. But he was in too deep by this point. His heart would end up breaking if this didn’t become something more serious.
-I’ll spend all of my free days traveling. Let’s give this a chance.- You stared at him not wanting to admit you were also feeling more for him. So you did the best you could to avoid giving him an answer. You attacked his wet lips and made him forget everything in the mist of passion.
A few weeks later the two of you planned this trip together, to Ibiza. Him hoping some time alone would change your mind.
Your planes were to arrive 10 minutes apart, the two of you met at the exit and took a taxi to your hotel.
-I brought you something.- Pedri said as he unpacked his luggage. You turned around and smiled as he brought out a small blue velvet bag. He handed it to you and you pulled out a bracelet with a heart dangling from it. -As soon as I saw it I thought of you.- He shrugged his shoulders which caused you to laugh at his nervousness.
-It’s beautiful.- You said.
-Like you.-
You spent the next few days taking the sun and enjoying the beautiful Ibiza weather. Walking around the town and going out dancing until the early hours of the morning.
You laid on the bed with your right leg over him and the blanket wrapped around you covering your naked body. You drew small hearts on his bare chest. You smiled as he placed a kiss on the top of your head.
-That was really good.- He said which caused you to giggle. -Thank you, Pedrito. We make a good team.- You loved the way his laugh filled the room.
You enjoyed spending day after day with him. No schedules, no airport lines, and you wish this could be your reality. You sat on your balcony overlooking the water when he walked out with his hair frazzled from the siesta. It was in that moment when his sleepy eyes warmed your heart that you knew you were also a goner. You would do anything for this man even if that included going against all of your thoughts about long distance relationships.
He laid next to you. -Hi sleepyhead.- He rubbed his eyes and smiled at you. -When did you wake up? I hate waking up without you by my side.- He said as he made a baby face causing you to laugh.
-You’re such a baby, Pedrito.-
That night you ate in your room, watched a movie and went to sleep early because you were taking a short yacht trip the next morning.
Pedri had planned everything to detail for you guys. For lunch he had set out a small picnic area on the yacht. The sea breeze hit your long hair. Pedri sitting in front of you.
You smiled when you realized he had brought all of your favorite food. -When did got have time to do all of this, Gonzalez?- you asked. He smirked.
-When you wake up from our siestas and leave me alone, when you take your long hot showers.- He explained.
-Ok, ok I get it.- You said with a smile.
He leaned in and grabbed your hand. -And I’de do a million more things if you can just give me a chance.- He looked at you with pleading eyes.
-Pedri, please.-
-Me quieres?- He asks. You bite your bottom lip knowing you’re a bad liar.
-Te quiero mucho.- You admit which causes him to smile and lean in to place a small kiss on your plump lips.
-Give me a chance?-
-I don’t want to lose you if this doesn’t work out.- You say, for the first time admitting what has kept you from going all in with him.
-You won’t.- He reassures you with a half smile. You shake your head and laugh.
-You won’t take no for an answer will you, Pedrito?- he does a cute thing with his mouth and shakes his head. -You know how persistent I can be.-
You move over to sit on him as your lips meet. A tender, soft, and detailed kiss that leaves him speechless.
-Does that mean yes?-
You giggle. -I’m all in if you’re all in.-

Laž | Bojan Cvjetićanin
Pairing: Bojan Cvjetićanin x y/n (she/her)
Author's note: Here we go again, I basically kinda had a dream with this plot so I turned it into a fanfic. I am really happy with the result, it is one of the longest one shots I have written recently so yeah, I hope you enjoy 🦋
Warnings: Slight foul language (almost none). No proofread cause we die like men (as always)
Tumblr media
She was as sure as ever. Bojan had been ignoring her throughout every single Eurovision pre party. It’s not like she was rude towards him or any other member of the group, on the contrary, she always loved hanging out with the band, while the same was for most of them.
During the very first pre party in Barcelona, the place where she met the boys for the first time, Bojan was overly excited to talk to her, gave her compliments and sweet smiles and grew quite fond of the girl before him. Same thing with y/n, she felt her heart skip a beat every time he said something nice about her, the way she looked, the way she acted, her Eurovision song. Jan made fun of them for acting like high schoolers in love but they didn't care at all. They both felt like a missing piece from their hearts was finally found through this meeting. All the boys made her feel at home, even played some party games which ended up with y/n sleeping on top of Kris's lap. So, when they parted, she was more than ecstatic to see them again, after hearing that they would both be performing in Poland a week after.
This pre party could clearly be described as pure chaos. The Slovenians landed some hours before and while they had agreed that they would stay at the airport to wait for her, Bojan backed out, saying that he was so tired that he would call a taxi to drop him at the hotel and he would meet them there. When y/n landed in Warsow, she quickly spotted the boys, gave a hug to Kris as he was the one closer to the gate and then froze. "Where is Bojan? What happened?"she asked as the boys told her he was feeling a little bit off and was already at their hotel. Her heart ached, he must be feeling really off if he chose to not wait for her, so she ushered them all to go to their hotel fast.
While only hugging Kris.
Bojan was not sick. He was not feeling off, he was not tired. Bojan simply didn't want to see y/n. It took a lot of strength to not wait for her, to give her a big hug and keep her closer. To look into her eyes, but it was for the best. For the best Bojan had created into his mind. Because he was sure, there was no doubt, everyone could see it. y/n liked Kris. That game of truth or dare planted a seed to his mind, and the way she fell asleep on his lap justified it all together. And it hurt, it hurt like hell. The moment he met her, he felt a deep feeling he had never felt before. He wanted to believe she was feeling the same way, but the chemistry she had with Kris crushed his walls down. He knew he didn't do anything wrong, but you can never talk a person into loving you. In addition, Bojan was adamant to the fact that when you love a person (and we are talking about two people Bojan loves as the same time, y/n and Kris) you must wish the best for them, no matter how much it hurts your heart. So the moment he heard his door knocking and y/n's sweet voice echoed through the hallway, his heart sank deeply down his chest but he got himself together as he heard Kris's voice behind calling his name as well.
Of course there was Kris as well. They liked each other. They were great for each other. They were both kind, outgoing, generous. He never wanted to be someone else more than this exact moment. But he had to be strong. Not let his guards down anymore. He is simply gonna ignore them, act as if he was asleep, they won't care that much, they will shrug it off. They will have more time together. He closed his eyes, turned his back to the door and kicked his feelings. The feelings that are growing more and more every single day.
"Bojan, I am really worried, please open the door."
That's it. That thing over there. Bojan. The way she said his name, the way she tried to come close to a Slovenian accent. He was sure Kris was teaching her how to say his name correctly, he was sure Kris was holding her hand now, he was sure Kris would try to steal the very first kiss. Nevertheless, he made his way to the door, the faster he would get over with the encounter, the better for him. He swiftly turned the doorknob and his eyes fell exactly on top of y/n's. She let out a sigh of relief and wrapped her arms tightly around him. "I missed you Bojan" she said as Bojan himself took advantage of every single second he was in her arms. Because the moment she and Kris would make it official, those hugs will be gone. All the hugs will be for Kris. He will be lucky if he gets a hug at his birthday. He managed to convince everyone that he needed this time alone to relax and will be up and running as soon as possible.
Lie.
The next two pre parties were hectic as hell and that made Bojan bless the God above for giving him the perfect opportunity to keep the distance he believed would be for the best. Everything kept happening so fast that he really didn't have the time needed to spend some moments with y/n.
Lie. Kris found some time to go out for a drink with her. Along with Jan.
And at that specific moment, the night of the last pre party, she was as sure as ever about that. Bojan is ignoring her. She tried to ask Nace about it during the time between their acts, him not giving her an answer that could please her. And at the moment she stepped her foot on the stage, her eyes searched for Bojan. And every word she sang was for Bojan. Every single emotion she felt was for Bojan. Her eyes were stuck on him, his eyes were stuck on hers. But after her performance, while she made her way towards them, all the way to Bojan, he stepped back and oh-so-slightly motioned Kris towards her way, making him her first hug of the night. Nobody sensed a thing, it was just normal, she wanted Kris's hug more than anyone else's right now.
Lie. She wanted Bojan's hug. She wanted Bojan's compliments. She wanted Bojan's reassurance.
Reaching to the Eurovision rehearsals, Bojan's nerves were on the roof. Seeing y/n and simply waving at her, he justified that on the fact that this event was huge for them, he wanted to give his best, he didn't want to let anyone down. And especially the moment of the actual semi final, where y/n had just qualified and there was only one last spot left for the grand final.
Slovenia.
A word Bojan never heard from the pressure and the fact that the only thing he could hear was the pounding heart on his chest, but felt a pair of arms hug him with all their might, repeating the word 'congratulations' over and over again, all the boys joining in this big hug. And Bojan felt nice. Felt relieved. Felt absolutely content and happy. Until Kris turned his attention towards y/n and offered some party drinks, and Bojan sank deep once again. 'I am happy for them. They are my friends, I am happy for them'
Lie. His heart couldn't have sunk any further down his chest.
80 and 78 points for y/n and Joker Out respectively. The word 'favorites' that was chasing both of the acts meaning absolutely nothing, the top 10 more than ten places above. y/n was devastated. She let everyone down, she let her country down, she let the people that supported her down, she let herself down. The first tear made its way down her cheek the moment the presenters announced her televoting points.
You get...21 points.
A loud no way was heard from the delegation next to hers, and that voice was a voice she could recognize from anywhere. Bojan. She too stunned to look at them, her gaze stuck upon the scoreboard. Final results, a 20th place for her and a 21st for Slovenia. After the end of the voting show and the winner's performance, people were slowly making their way outside of the arena, but y/n's gaze stayed at the same point it was before. 20th. She didn't even notice all the delegations leaving and only averted her gaze when she felt a hand touching hers.
Bojan.
"Please don't cry, you were amazing on stage. I am so proud of you" he told her as the silent tears kept making their way down her cheeks. "And so what? What if I was indeed that good on stage? It doesn't even matter because I failed everyone that believes in me" she raised her voice, new tears almost escaping the corners of her eyes. Bojan hated seeing her cry, it broke his heart into million little pieces. "I believe in you and you haven't failed me, y/n" he simply added as she looked at him. Just a small look into his eyes turned her deep sadness into anger. Anger for every single moment he set her aside, every single moment he ignored her. He thought he had the right to support her now, after all those countless days that she felt left out?
"You have got to be kidding me Bojan. After all those days that you don't pay the slightest attention to me, that you do everything you can to ignore me, now you want to support me? Does this seem normal to you?" she burst out, her voice raising with every word she said. Bojan stood quiet, not sure on how to react, on what to say. Should he mention Kris? Should he mention his feelings? Should he just close his eyes and follow his heart?
"I don't want to steal time from you and Kris, y/n" he simply stated, a lump forming in his throat just by the thought that passed by his mind. "You make each other happy, and I am sure you fit each other perfectly.". y/n stayed shocked by what he said, did Bojan seriously think that there was something going on between her and Kris? "Wait, where did that come from? I don't like Kris, what are you saying? Who told you that?" she said looking at Bojan more serious than ever. Bojan averted her gaze and she got a gentle hold of his chin, turning his face to look at her. "Bojan, please answer me".
"Jure also noticed that, not before me though"
Lie.
"Even if he did notice that, Bojan, why didn't he start ignoring me as you did? This makes zero sense, please tell me what's the matter" she stated and Bojan couldn't control himself anymore.
"Because Jure doesn't have feelings for you. Jure doesn't suppress his whole entity because his love for you is growing stronger and stronger. Because Jure is not me y/n"
y/n stared into Bojan's eyes, as he saw them glistening with tears. Bojan felt his whole head spinning, y/n not answering to his sudden outburst. 'I fucked up'
Suddenly, y/n's hand found its way on Bojan's cheek. " You are really dumb aren't you?" she simply stated as Bojan furrowed his eyebrows. And then he caught a glimpse of her gaze. No, there was no way he was imagining things. Her gaze averted between his eyes and his lips, he saw that. Bojan nodded and y/n got this as a cue to instantly lock her lips with the sweet pair of his, while his hands moved to her small back. "It's me? Not Kris? It's me?" Bojan said out of breath as she smiled. " It couldn't be anyone else but you. You have a lot of broken parts to fix here, you made me feel like the least wanted person for more than a month now" she stated, the smile never leaving her lips. Bojan nodded, regret filling his mind and thoughts.
He wasn't at the airport to pick her up, he didn't hug her after the pre parties, he didn't spend time with her during the rehearsals. He missed a hell lot of opportunities to make so many memories with her, all because of his haunting thoughts. He wrapped his arms around her small frame, kissing the top of her head.
"Can we start this process by getting you a congratulations drink? The drink that I chose not to get to you during the pre parties?"
She simply nodded as she heard a voice coming from the main entrance of the arena "I fucking told you Jan, you owe me 50 euros."

Thanks so much for tagging me @vacancy90
rules: list the first line of your last 10 (or however many you have) posted fics and see if there's a pattern!
1. There must have been a reason why Robert arrived at the age of twenty-one still a virgin; some half-formed idea that your first time was meant to mean something and then it had gone on longer than he ever intended. Perfect
2. It’s been his safe place, where he retreats when the lights go out, chasing images of green fields and motorbikes, digging up onions, Côtes du Rhône - Aaron’s voice. All My Life
3. Colin - it says in handwriting on the envelope. Aaron picks it up and looks inside, thumbs the crisp fiver, a couple of ones, and a shiny fifty penny piece. Come sail your ships around me.
4. Robert stepped swiftly out of the arrivals lounge at Charles de Gaulle airport, running a hand over his short blond hair, just relieved to be home at last. M’au pair
5. ‘Did you see a storm coming?’ This New Sun
6. Victoria was the first to notice something was up. ‘You haven’t eaten your breakfast, Robert.’ Black Dog
7. They’d both known in the taxi from the airport how it would go, Robert’s elbow crooked over the beaded cover on the passenger seat, his arm hanging down, the back of his fingers tapping against Aaron’s knees. Barcelona
8. It was the sound that drew her attention, like a new born lamb, a bleating carried on the frosty air. Still
9. He’d said I love you for the first time the other day, quietly, with a sweet smile. Not as a weapon, not as a cure, either. The Decision
10.‘You’ve got the work ethic of a sloth,’ Paddy had once said to him. They’d all heard him, his family, standing or perched on barstools at Woolie; it still rankled that no one had come to his defence. Deliver ( New fic unpublished as yet )
I tag everyone who fancies having a go at this, you lovely talented people ❤️

my family is in barcelona rn doesn't matter why and this morning was apparently the barcelona marathon and we were trying to catch a cab to the airport at 9am only to discover basically that we were on the wrong side of the marathon and the cab COULDNT get us to the airport bc of all the road closures, so cue me trying to use my 3 years of high school Spanish 10 years ago to game this out with this cabbie. I'm like "caminar al otro lado y tomar un taxi allí???" and he's like "sí al otro lado!" so then my family of 4 gets out of this cab with 5 suitcases and 4 backpacks in tow and proceeds to run across the marathoners and catch a cab one block over that CAN bring us to the airport 😭 goofy comedy movie shenanigans
here's my sister and I contemplating weaving through runners
