According to archives St. Saturninus was, one of the most illustrious martyrs France has given to the Church. We possess only his Acts, which are very old, since they were utilized by St. Gregory of Tours. He was the first bishop of Toulouse, where he arrived during the consulate of Decius and Gratus (250). Whether there were already Christians in the town or his preaching made numerous conversions, he soon had a little church. To reach it he had to pass before the capitol where there was a temple, and according to the Acts, the pagan priests ascribed to his frequent passings the silence of their oracles. One day they seized him and on his unshakeable refusal to sacrifice to the idols they condemned him be tied by the feet to a bull which dragged him about the town until the rope broke. Two Christian women piously gathered up the remains and buried them in a deep ditch, that they might not be profaned by the pagans. His successors, Sts. Hilary and Exuperius, gave him more honourable burial. A church was erected where the bull stopped. It still exists, and is called the church of the Taur (the bull). The body of the saint was transferred at an early date and is still preserved in the Church of St. Sernin (or Saturninus), one of the most ancient and beautiful of Southern France. His feast was entered on the Hieronymian Martyrology for 29 November; his cult spread abroad. The account of his Acts was embellished with several details, and legends linked his name with the beginning of the churches of Eauze, Auch, Pamplona, and Amiens, but these are without historic foundations.

MARTYR PHILOUMENUS OF ANCYRA (274)

The Holy Martyr Philoumenus suffered for Christ in the year 274, during the persecution against Christians by the emperor Aurelian (270-275). Saint Philoumenus was a bread merchant in Ancyra. Envious persons reported to the governor Felix that Philoumenus was a Christian, and so he came before a judge.

Saint Philoumenus did not renounce Christ. For this they hammered nails into his hands, feet and head, and they forced him to walk. The holy martyr bravely endured the torments and he died from loss of blood, giving up his soul to God.

Haven't seen you in a minute. Let's talk.

Work has been hectic. We're booking them in back to back. It's exhausting. I have been struggling to keep my energy up.

Recently I discovered that I'm actually malnourished. The food I eat at work isn't enough. And usually by the time I get home, I'm so exhausted from work that I don't have the energy to eat so I just go to bed instead. My breakfast isn't enough. So I now deal with vertigo, tinnitus, nausea, vomiting, and headaches.

I explained to my friend that is just how it goes. If you are booked, you hope people don't show up for appointments, or they are quick cuts. Because that's the only way to use the toilet or eat something.

I haven't been to the gym since May. It's ending August now. No energy. Because no food.

I have a plan. I'm going to replace my sodas with milk. That should be a higher fat and calorie content. Hopefully it will be enough to change what I'm going through. At least a start.

Breakfast will still be hard, but I'll figure something out. I miss the gym.

In other news, I ordered my taur on Tuesday night. It should arrive next week. I'm rather excited. It should be small enough to put in the commandant and take places. It will also allow me a different ride when scootaloo sounds angry, or when I want to make major changes to it.

The taur also has better, safer, breaks so fall and winter riding won't be as dangerous. In theory.

Last month was when I went back to the tie style at work. I feel so much more like myself again. I don't fit in with my coworkers, and now it feels more honest.

Otherwise, what else? Not much. I think I'll go get groceries tonight or tomorrow after work. Leaning more to tomorrow.

The prime minister of Timor-Leste has sent a letter of resignation to the president, after the collapse of a coalition supporting him in parliament, plunging the tiny southeast Asian nation into new political uncertainty.

“I have sent a [resignation] letter to the president,” Taur Matan Ruak told reporters after meeting President Francisco Guterres, on Tuesday.

He said he was prepared to stay in office until the resignation was accepted, so as “to guarantee government activities in our country”.

Ruak had headed the Majority Alliance for Progress coalition, which included his party, Popular Liberation Party, CNRT, headed by former Timorese leader, Xanana Gusmão, and the youth party, KHUNTO.

In recent weeks the coalition was rocked by a political crisis after the governing coalition failed to pass its budget last month, despite having a majority.

In a blow to Ruak, Gusmão’s CNRT party, abstained from voting on the bill, according to Inside Story, which led Ruak to declare the end of their political alliance.

The failure to pass the budget caused significant financial problems for the country, with new programs and increases in ministerial budgets forbidden, and the government relying on monthly extensions of its 2019 budget.

The crisis developed despite attempts to stabilise the political system with fresh elections in 2018.

While Timor-Leste has remained largely peaceful since gaining independence, it has had moments of political instability and violence.

In early 2018 president Guterres dissolved parliament and called for new elections in an attempt to end hostilities brought by the 2017 result, when the winning party, Fretelin, was unable to form a coalition for majority government and opposition parties blocked legislation.

However the 2018 election campaign was still marred by tension and violence, and accusations against both Gusmão and Ruak of improper conduct.

When the coalition of Gusmão’s CNRT, Ruak’s People’s Liberation Party, and smaller independent parties won 34 of the parliament’s 65 seats, it was widely predicted Gusmao would be prime minister however Ruak was selected to lead.

Gusmão’s new alliance would be the ninth government of the country since it achieved independence in 2002.

Ruak, a former guerrilla fighter, has previously also served as Timor-Leste’s president. In 2012, he beat his rival, the current president, Francisco “Lú-Olo” Guterres and Nobel peace prize laureate José Ramos-Horta in a presidential election.
