i redesigned Tatloch because her original is atrociously offensive. notes:
it is inspired by the A茂r Tuareg, a southern population of Tuareg, a group of indigenous peoples of Africa.
they favor blues and indigos, and wear a lot of large jewelry.
women often wear veils on their heads. i did an open wrap instead because her hair being Tall is the only fun thing about her original design
below is the first sketch i made. feel free to use this design!!! just credit me and the A茂r Tuareg.

馃А and 馃挍 for the ask game please!
yayy ty for the ask!
馃А: what is a popular (serious) theory you disagree with?
ot1/cotc: honestly i don't even know if this counts as popular but i've seen a theory floating around that tatloch is therion's mother due to their "somewhat similar appearances" and i do not like it :')
ot2: literally all of the "(x) is claude's child" theories, but especially trousseau... claude doesn't NEED more children, smh
馃挍: what is a popular ship you just can't get behind, and why?
ot1: therion/ophilia - i don't really see their chemistry? their banters all feel quite awkward and stiff to me, and their personalities and traumas just don't mesh that well, imo
cotc: richard/alaune - i may be biased due to not liking alaune to begin with, but to me, it legit feels like they make each other worse?? richard was so cool in his charles era, but as soon as these two got together, he like. lost his braincells and his entire personality :(
ot2: castti/thron茅 - i genuinely can't see these two as anything other than friends?? castti is too focused on work and dealing with her mental/emotional scars to engage in a relationship during their travels, and thron茅's got her own issues to handle... perhaps in the far future, they could be a thing, but i personally don't see it happening

Your name is Zaafirah Al-Mokhtar, and you are an Apothecary.聽
A member of the former empire of G鈥檙oha, you and the rest of your continent were left to pick up the bloody pieces after Tatloch鈥檚 fall in a conquest gone wrong. Now you serve a group of eight ambassadors for the continent, hoping to forge ties with the Orsterran nations that G鈥檙oha had tried to conquer not long ago.
Zaafirah is a personal passion project of mine, from not only rewriting the mess that was Tatloch and G鈥檙oha to also fully delving into a flawed character. I think she鈥檚 amazing, and wanted to share her. Lemme know if you wanna know anything about her!

man why'd they kill osha and let the fucking tentacle porn girl tatloch live,,, ok ok i know why, it's the fucking fanservice, but come the fuck on. he didn't deserve this!!! he's full of trauma! he needed some fucking therapy! or a ton of hugs at least. i guess the writers didn't feel like having this man get some fucking character growth so they just fuckin killed him huh. it's not like it isn't possible to have him change his mind maybe if he hangs out with the group more? hm? i think the writers are just cowards honestly. they seem to like killing people who are traumatized. (or just. killing people in general.)
hope we get him as a playable traveler someday so he can be with my group (that i have named Therapy Gang) so he can finally get his god damn therapy 馃槶

Creating tenuous parallels between the CotC villains and the starting 5* characters because I can. Contains major spoilers for BoA鈥檚 final boss
Herminia - Scarecrow: loss of family/loved ones Tytos - Fiore: loss of job position by one with power over them Auguste - Viola: betrayal from a trusted one followed by them taking revenge Pardis - Sofia: stubbornness in being alone and not relying on others Oskha - Gilderoy: watching (semi-)good men fall to those who seize power violently Tatloch - Lynette: learning what it means to work for a group鈥檚 happiness, instead of only focusing on one鈥檚 own goals. I guess. Presuming Tatloch gets a character arc. Ceraphina - Theo: family member's good name was slandered by those who used it for their own gain Sazantos - Millard: a deepseated belief that people are good and in need of help???? I haven鈥檛 actually seen BoA鈥檚 storyline, I just know the final boss.

What I liked about the tie in to COTC was that Odysso was the one who granted Aldo the Flamebringer Ring that summoned the group. It implies he was the Ringbearer Chosen, and remember, the only villain we鈥檙e missing from COTC was the final O who bears a ring. We have Herminia, Tytos, Auguste, Pardis, Oskha, Tatloch, Ceraphina, and now Odysso, the Ringbearer.
It doesn鈥檛 make sense if you squint though, but I assume the ring still has some tiny summoning power even after the end of COTC, and you can handwave away the discrepancy there.
Overall that was what made me enjoy the story the most. Another Eden proving once again that they can take another crossover and make it feel like an extension of the world they鈥檙e borrowing from.
It's been a week since the release of the Octopath 脳 Another Eden crossover! Here are my mini-reviews of their plots, which means spoilers for the crossover (none for the Octopath games as far as I could tell). I'll go in Octopath's (technically) chronological order so it'll be CotC, then OT, then OT 2.
I hope you enjoy!
tldr: It was nice :)
Future - Dressed in Fame (Tithi, Nicola + Suzette)
Can't believe they took two people from a fantasy renaissance era and made them a tiktok dancer and a video essayist youtuber.
Granted it was in a simulation to try and create an algorithm for harvesting fame but even after stopping that these two still wanted to actually become streamers/youtubers with their new friend.
A very fun story! Tithi and Nicola and Aldo being unfamiliar about about the modern times and video technology and things like that ends up with some silly moments where they just stop and ask "What does this even mean???".
Shout out to Nicola for being the "brains" of the group and also referencing her Thief job by stealthily stealing the cursed ring. Very cool.

Present - Some Small Power (Cyrus, Olberic, H'aanit + Shion)
My favorite! The final boss is also technically not the main villain himself but a poor animal he ends up controlling.
I really liked how this story incorporated Olberic and H'aanit. Olberic's stance on fighting to protect the peace and H'annit's on how nature must be respected but also cared for are well done and I liked it a lot! Cyrus is Cyrus, he's very silly and I love him. Shion didn't show up much but it was nice to see him when he did.
Also I like how it ties into the Octopath novel and minor lore a bit! It's just small bits like the year and Cyrus' dynamic with H'aanit as far as I could tell but it was lovely to see!
Also I really like this moment from the very beginning of this story:
Olberic: ...Did that person just appear out of thin air?
Cyrus: I'd say it was more like a distortion of some sort. That solves the mystery of how we came to be here, then.
H'aanit: It most certainly doth not!

Antiquity - The Sickness Wealth Brings (Partitio, Castti, Temenos + Shanie)
Partitio once again woke up and chose violence because of someone's abhorrent actions
And even after the boss battle, when the villain ends up with amnesia after loosing his cursed ring, Partitio goes "Great, you're back to normal! I'm still holding you accountable for all of this."
Nothing much to say here really. Solid story, solid characterization, Shanie and Castti's friendship was cute and I really liked Temenos here.

Journey's End (Final Chapter)
They called a dungeon "Journey's End" and it has an abandoned train stop theme. Absolute peak.
Can't believe I encountered another character who played a false role for decades to hopefully save people from a tragic fate and couldn't reveal the truth. I'm bummed Odysso never got to see his sister again and that he passed away when his mission was complete, but at least he left his finished journal for his old friend and Aldo and was able to move on more-or-less peacefully. The toast Aldo and the friend made in Odysso's name also hurt my heart. Heartbreaking, bittersweet and a nice conclusion to the story.
