Robert Pattinson will star in director Bong Joon-Ho's 'Parasite' follow-up, 'Mickey17.' Courtesy of Warner Bros. PicturesWe may be in the thick of awards season, celebrating all of the great films that 2024 brought, but this year’s docket is already packed with new projects to get excited about. There’s horror maestro Ari Aster’s stab at the Western genre (Eddington) and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler’s take on horror (Sinners). There are two Frankenstein movies (from directors Maggie Gyllenhaal and Guillermo del Toro), and one is a musical (can you guess whose?). Bong Joon-Ho will debut his long-awaited Parasite follow-up, Mickey 17, starring Robert Pattinson in just one of the three major roles he has this year (the other two, Die My Love and The Drama, share billing with Jennifer Lawrence and Zendaya, respectively). Speaking of movie stars, Denzel Washington teamed up with Spike Lee for their fifth movie together, and in Margot Robbie’s first post-Barbie role, she shares the screen with recent Golden Globes-winner Colin Farrell. And with tons of rumored musical biopics in the works, Jeremy Allen White’s portrayal of Bruce Springsteen is already done filming—so prepare yourself for a potential revival of “The Boss.”Read on for W’s most anticipated movies of 2025 (so far):The MonkeyPhoto courtesy of NEONDirected by: Osgood PerkinsStarring: Theo James, Tatiana Maslany, Elijah WoodPremieres: February 21Osgood Perkins terrified audiences last year with the Nicholas Cage-starring Longlegs, and now he’s back with his next horror film, Monkey, based on the 1980 Stephen King short story of the same name. Jordan for the pair’s fifth project together—though this time, their upcoming film looks a little scarier than a Creed or Black Panther movie. Originally billed as a vampire story, Sinners is set in the 1930s Jim Crow South, where Jordan plays twin brothers—at least one of whom is haunted by the dark and terrible things he’s seen humans do, and now, possibly, something supernaturally evil, too.Mickey 17Courtesy of Warner Bros. PicturesDirected by: Bong Joon-HoStarring: Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, Mark RuffaloPremieres: April 18Director Bong Joon-Ho’s first film since making Oscars history with 2019’s Parasite is a sci-fi fantasy adventure with a heavy dose of comedy and satire. Eddington is billed as a black comedy, moving away from the horror genre, for which Aster is known as a master. According to a logline, the film is about a couple that gets stranded during the pandemic in a small New Mexico town, and its ambitious sheriff (Joaquin Phoenix). The History of SoundIMDbDirected by: Oliver HermanusStarring: Josh O’Connor, Paul MescalPremieres: TBAQueer romance The History of Sound has been in pre-production since the early days of the pandemic, when its director Oliver Hermanus (most recently, Mary & George) first landed the script. In the meantime, its leads Paul Mescal and Josh O’Connor have become huge stars, leading to scheduling conflicts that prevented the film from moving forward. Now, it’s is on track for a 2025 release. Based on Ben Shattuck’s 2018 short story of the same name, The History of Sound centers the romantic relationship between two men (Mescal and O’Connor) in 1916 rural New England.I Want Your SexGettyDirected by: Gregg ArakiStarring: Olivia Wilde, Cooper Hoffman, Charli XCX, Chase Sui WondersPremieres: TBAGregg Araki co-wrote the script for I Want Your Sex with sex and relationships writer Karley Sciortino, which is fitting given the title, at least. Much about this buzzy film is strictly under wraps, but we do know that Licorice Pizza’s Cooper Hoffman plays the naive Elliot, who finds himself in over his head when he’s hired to be the erotic muse to a provocative artist (Olivia Wilde). Charli XCX, Johnny Knoxville, Margaret Cho, Daveed Diggs, and Chase Sui Wonders make for an intriguing cast.FrankensteinGettyDirected by: Guillermo del ToroStarring: Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, Christoph WaltzPremieres: TBAWhile Maggie Gyllenhaal tells a musical tale of Frankenstein’s bride, Academy Award winner Guillermo del Toro has been working on fulfilling his career dream of making his own adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Gothic 1818 novel. Jacob Elordi will play the monster, and Oscar Isaac, his creator, Dr. Victor Frankenstein. Scream queen Mia Goth plays the doctor’s wife, Elizabeth. Source link

Faceclaim: Tatiana Maslany
Full Name: Maya Nicole St. Romain Occupation: Pontchartrain Pack Alpha Species: Werewolf Age: 104
Eye Color: Hazel Hair Color: Dark brown Height: 5’4” Weight: 120 lbs.
Personality: Maya’s always been a fighter. She’s willing to stand up for her what she thinks, and has in the past been a bit rash to make judgements, though as a leader she attempts to not let that affect her as much. Her heart is her family and her pack, and she’s constantly attempting to protect them. She’s loyal, but also stubborn, and can be slow to admit when she’s misjudged a situation or made a mistake. While she can be cool-headed and capable as a leader, when it comes to her personal life she’s far less put together. Relating to people has been difficult ever since she became the alpha, and she tends to just not try at this point, keeping a cool distance. Her sense of duty is strong, as is her desire to prove herself. She keeps all her doubts and insecurities tight to the chest, not letting anyone see her as anything other than a confident leader.
History: Maya St. Romain grew up as pack royalty. She was the alpha’s favorite granddaughter, taken in at a young age and raised as his own. He realized her aptitude for leadership by the time she was a young adult, and started grooming her to one day become alpha in her own right. He didn’t go easier on her because she was his family—if anything, he was tougher because he knew that she could be great and thought that being soft with her would be a disservice. And his training worked. Maya’s very young for an alpha, but on the whole she’s been successful.
She never expected to take the position this young. She’d thought she had decades in front of her to prepare, but then a war started. And the man who raised her was dead. Filled with grief and uncertainty, but also with the solemn determination not to let anyone else take this from her, she won the challenges, took over as alpha, and tried to lead them through a war that was quickly going off the rails. They put up a heroic fight, but after the witches surrendered, they were just outnumbered—and their numbers were dwindling every moment.
After a few staggering defeats, Maya couldn’t take it anymore. She withdrew her pack to the bayou and set upon a new strategy, one of lying low and regrouping until they were strong enough that they wouldn’t keep bleeding numbers. She wasn’t going to lose any more of her pack when there wasn’t a clear victory in sight. The pack took in many young wolves who’d been displaced, trying to regroup and rebuild. It took a toll, to lose so many of there members, and that toll was felt especially by the pack’s alpha. She’s perhaps overly cautious now, not wanting to take any unnecessary risks, but at her heart she only wants what’s best for her pack. At times she still has doubts as to whether she was ready to take up the mantle of command, but she’s devoted her life to this pack, and she’ll continue to do it up to the bitter end.
