@mlgssy asked for the prompts "Those rumors about us are getting annoying. How many times do we have to tell them we aren’t together?" and "Come back to bed." for Fred/Kelly (and you all know how much it pains me to write some Fred/Kelly) from a few different prompt lists that I didn't actually recognize, but they looked like a lot of fun.
So anyway! Here goes.
---
Olivia-G291 bounced nervously on the balls of her feet out in the hallway. She had been tasked with what was probably the most dangerous mission of her life, and it took a few moments to amp herself up and get enough courage to actually go through with it.
After several moments of hemming and hawing, the young woman finally decided that enough was enough. It was time to bite the bullet - hopefully only figuratively - and get things done. With only a slight tremor, she lifted her hand and knocked gently on the door to the quarters she had been squatting outside for nearly twenty minutes now.
It took exactly forty-eight seconds for the door to slide open a few inches. "It's 0230," came the gruff voice of Kelly-087 from in the dark recesses of her personal quarters. "What do you need?"
O swallowed nervously. "Ash and Mark had a question for the LT," she said, quieter than she had meant to. Her palms were sweaty and her throat was suddenly very dry.
Kelly poked her head out of the door to raise one eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. Her hair dangled loose, for once not in her signature ponytail, and the blue-dyed ends shone in the fluorescent hallway lights. "If you're looking for Fred, why are you at my door?" she demanded.
O swallowed again. "Well, he wasn't answering at his quarters, and he wasn't in the gym or the cafeteria, so we figured - well, Ash figured, really - that he might be..." she was jabbering now. For someone who had such a skill for silence, she couldn't seem to shut up at this point. "Well, I told Ash that he should come knock, since it was his question, but he told me that I'm the only one that Fred wouldn't kill tomorrow morning if I happened to interrupt you two. You see, he seems to think that I'm Fred's favorite, which is ridiculous because-"
"Enough," Kelly said firmly. O found herself very grateful for the excuse to actually close her mouth. "First," Kelly said, raising a finger to count her points, "Fred isn't here. Second, of course you're his favorite, don't be ridiculous. And third, those rumors are starting to get annoying. How many times do we have to tell you that there is nothing going on between he and I? Honestly, it's-"
Kelly fell silent when the distinct sound of a tired groan echoed out from the room behind her.
O, momentarily forgetting her abject fear of the older Spartan in favor of her ravenous curiosity, leaned forward slightly to try to get a peek into the room. "Was that...?"
"It was nothing," Kelly answered sharply. The look in her electric blue eyes dared O to challenge her.
O did not take that dare.
"Kelly come back to bed, it's cold," Nothing rumbled, its voice sounding shockingly similar to what O imagined one Lieutenant Junior Grade Frederic-104's voice might sound like if he were woken up in the middle of the night, his voice rough and his mind slightly disoriented from sleep.
Kelly's head drooped and she sighed dejectedly, pinching the bridge of her nose between her thumb and forefinger. "I don't know why I bother," she muttered under her breath.
The younger Spartan took a step back, her hands raised. "Well, I think I'll just... go tell the others that he wasn't here," she said quickly, already turning and jogging back the way she had come.
Kelly didn't answer; she just retreated into her quarters and slid the door shut behind her.

Semifinals Match 1
087 Uncanny Valley vs. 042 Grifter's Bone
Propaganda under the cut!
087 Uncanny Valley
Guy cleans out flesh from a drain without a blink and nikola has to invite him back again with Jude because he wasn’t scared enough the first time because of obliviousness
Besides the obvious bit of Guy who Doesn’t Realize He’s In A Horror Story, imagine this from Nikolas perspective. Like “oh shit lol this guys name is “skinner” I’m gonna mess with him for shits and giggles… Ok he didn’t notice any of my spooky bullshit, wild! I threatened to butcher him and he was Not Paying Attention! Jude! Hey! Come check out this idiot man!”. Also implication that Jude and nikola hang out being shitty together. I support women’s wrongs.
"Megan" tries to expose this guy to The Horrors and he's so focused on his job that he just doesn't notice. She's so shocked by this that she calls him back and still has to literally force him to notice
The world's most oblivious plumber somehow doesn't notice all the creepy stuff going on and just does his job like normal. It only gets funnier when you consider it from the Stranger avatar's point of view.
Nikola Orsinov trying so hard to scare the least observant man you've ever seen. Whispering in his ear about flencing while he hums noncommittally and pulls a wad of meat from the drain of her spooky factory in the middle of fuck-all nowhere and then he just gives her the invoice and walks out??? Like it's a normal job? And when she calls him to come back the next day she has to dress up in a clown costume to get his attention and grab his head to make him look at The Atrocities that he just entirely missed the day before. I love Sebastian Skinner so much and I wish only the best for him
#I really just want to point out that they're trying to scare a plumber. #A plumber!! #do you think this is the first time this man has had to clean skin and hair out of a drain? #do you think he's never seen blood before? #like yeah it's objectively funny from the Horror's point of views but for him? It's a tuesday #Like that isn't even the weirdest thing he's seen that week #'oh they threatened to butcher him' yeah? what makes them special? #this guy probably deals with 20 different avatars a week by necessity #no amount of 'his name is skinner let's fuck with him' is going to be worse than service work in people's homes (via @/childoferebus)
#the only reason we know what's happening for half the episode is taht we know this is an horror story #and how things usually go. #dude spends half the episode going 'just a normal job. #house in the middle of nwohere. weird smells and textures #*shrugs* just anotehr day on the job* (via @/monstersqueen)
042 Grifter's Bone
A band so bad it kills people
"I've been watching Martin. He's been very attentive to my needs and recovery since I returned to work, almost to the exclusion of his own tasks. [...] Is he playing the fool? Purposefully failing in his tasks to delay or hinder my investigations? [...] I’m glad he’s moved out of the Archives, as it gives me a chance to work here without his constant presence. [...] if his style wasn't so obviously enamoured with Keats,[...] I will keep my eye on Martin." the keats part included because wow jon. strong opinions on martin's poetry here (via @/monstersqueen)

Halo Reloaded: Fancy
Under the opulent chandeliers of one of Earth's most exclusive dining establisments, members of Blue-Team and Silver-Team gathered at a high-end restaurant, one that catered to the elite. Yet tonight, it played host to Earth's mightiest defenders. John-117, having secured their reservation, was no stranger to the perks of his status within the UNSC. His commendations and heroic deeds had not only earned him respect but also a considerable amount of wealth, which he seldom flaunted but tonight decided to share with his comrades. The dining table was a battleground of culinary delights, yet the approach to the feast laid bare the contrasts among Earth's finest. The Spartan men, including John, Vannak-134, and Fred-104, dissected their meals with the same precision they applied to enemy fortifications. Each bite was calculated, a nod to their ingrained discipline, their plates curated to fuel their bodies with exacting efficiency.Opposite this display of restraint, the Spartan women—Kelly-087, Linda-058, and Kai-125—embarked on a culinary offensive that would leave the chefs in awe and the cutlery trembling. Their plates were heaped with delicacies, each morsel disappearing as if into the void of slip-space, only to be replaced by more.Kelly, with a glint of mischief in her eyes, glanced at John. "You weren't kidding about this place," she said, her voice a vibrant echo in the hush of luxury. "The food's fantastic. Who knew the hero of humanity had such a taste for the finer things?" Her plate, a once orderly arrangement of haute cuisine, now resembled a battlefield post-assault.John, maintaining the composure of a seasoned commander, even in the face of Kelly's teasing, simply nodded, allowing himself the shadow of a smile. "Hey, just because we can survive on MREs doesn't mean we have to," he quipped, his tone light, a rare indulgence in the levity of the moment. Linda's contribution was less verbal, her focus primarily on the art of vanquishing her steak, a task she undertook with sniper-like precision. Yet, her occasional, amused glances towards Kai—who was practically inhaling a dish that had been described with at least three French adjectives—spoke volumes of her dry wit. Kai, for her part, paused just long enough to cast a challenging look around the table, her expression daring anyone to comment. When no one did, she dove back into her meal with renewed vigor, a whirlwind of culinary devastation that defied the serene elegance of their surroundings. Vannak-134 watched the scene unfold with an expression of bemused admiration. "I'm startin' to think there's some competition here," he observed, his voice a low murmur intended for Fred's ears alone. Fred chuckled softly. "If there is, I'm content to concede victory to them. This ain't a fight we're able to win." His gaze lingered on the women, his amusement tinged with a hint of pride. Their conversation meandered through tales of past exploits and shared challenges, the camaraderie palpable in the air around them. For a brief interlude, they were not the galaxy's guardians but simply friends, reveling in the joy of each other's company. As the evening drew to a close, John's gaze swept over his team, a sense of contentment settling over him. Rising from their seats, they stepped back into the night, the memory of the evening a light against the darkness of their relentless crusade. But for those few hours, they had been unconquerable in a different arena, champions of camaraderie and the simple, profound joy of breaking bread together.

ROCK AND READ 098 SALUS -interview- #1 Kyo
"I'm definitely fond of eros, beauty and a decadent worldview, such things might've been reflected in sukekiyo since before."
There's no question that sukekiyo is formed with Kyo in its centre, it's a band with Kyo as its axis, but how come it's a band that distorted/perverted and that beautiful/pure..? Kyo, who said it all just happened naturally, what did he want to portray in SALUS, and in sukekiyo?
Text: Yukinobu Hasegawa
Translation: kyotaku (if you notice any mistakes, typos etc give me a shout!)
ROCK AND READ 098 is available on Amazon JP here!
profile & information
born February 16th. blood type B. vocalist of DIR EN GREY as well as of formed in 2013 sukekiyo.
-- Although the additional March show in 2020 from sukekiyo TOUR2020 DRIPPIN' got cancelled, songwriting continued as usual. DIR EN GREY is also busy with preproduction. When it got to the situation you couldn't play concerts, could you easily change your feelings towards creative activities?
京 You write a song/melody, or if you have a song/melody you can add song/singing. That's it. sukekiyo has now about 17 songs (in stock). I have interim singing for all of them. From there we had to decide which ones to release this time. With DIR EN GREY as well, now when songs came in I added interim singing. I was just doing what can be done, just that.
-- With sukekiyo, do you often start working on a new piece with a different theme etc, like once you've done one thing next you move in a different direction?
京 Instead of thinking of wanting to do something, it's more like wanting to upgrade. We don't talk to each other so much, each band member has their own different ideas, the themes/tasks themselves. Me myself, I'm not trying to give myself a huge 'power up'. This time we also didn't have a particular course/path we wanted to follow. There are still song we haven't done [to our best potential], there's still feeling like we haven't done enough in that path, so we haven't tried anything new.
-- When we talked last time for RR (087) I asked you what kind of music you tune your antenna to, you said you listen to a lot of old 80s songs.
京 Yeah, basically I like it. But recently I'm not listening to anything. Even if I'm not adding any new data, there's already a lot of stuff inside of me that I feel like I haven't digested/absorbed in yet. That's why it feels completely natural. But if I feel like I don't have any ideas or I'd like to add a bit of new data I will listen to and watch various things more.
-- So in order to create you didn't need to work on input?
京 That's right, in the end since the pandemic started I've been only buying toys and sneakers (laughing).
-- I see (laughing). About your new release (SALUS), I've just interviewed Takumi. It seems that he got some ideas from you and based on that he created the sound/music. What kind of ideas did you give him?
京 sukekiyo already has many Showa era pop style songs, from among them, how to say this... I wanted to try singing a sparkly Showa era pop style song that would have even more nostalgic elements. Could we use this or not, how would it turn out if we made it as sukekiyo and I tried singing. I've made a request to Takumi, would ya try making somethin like that for me? There was a lot of time. When I tried singing, it ended up as a pretty interesting song. We have 17 other songs, when we started discussing which song should end up next on the next release, we all kind of agreed this one had the biggest impact/kick, so we went with it. So it was quite experimental.
-- The term Showa era pop came up, which years do you listen to the most?
(*Showa era lasted between 1929-1989)
京 The truth is, I don't listen to it so much. Somehow you feel what that era was like, for example we somehow know, like 'this sound is very 90s'. That's about how much I listen to it.
-- In the past there were many music programs on TV and many shops were playing Showa era pop, even if we didn't pay attention to it, it's music we just ended up listening to.
京 Exactly, that's how.
-- You said that sukekiyo has a lot of chic Showa era pop songs, do you see it as one of the important roots of the band?
京 Yeah, the number of this kind of songs at concerts increased, many times they serve as an accent or a special point, so I kinda wanted to have more.
-- In sukekiyo shows, and this is completely my personal view, I think you give off all of Showa culture including front and back /pour out. Thinking that you had an underground butohdancing, you also sing Showa pop songs and sometimes you also have this (old small bit rundown but very homey bars in the outskirts) feel. And you also use the old style tv noise in your stage lighting effect. Also the sense of lighting, is definitely not a gaudy style. It feels like a Showa recital of for example Chiaki Naomi.
京 That's true. And plus that, we also have digital elements, gothic elements, and the mix of all that is the most sukekiyo-like. That's why the song released now is just well divided. Things that make me feel nostalgic or videos/images and commercials that feel like that, they really suit sukekiyo well. They would definitely not suit DIR EN GREY. That's why starting from earlier, before sukekiyo's performance we have played a parody of popular old commercials. We're a band that's really into that. We're not just an underground band, but I think we constantly want to poke this subtle line of is it a joke or is it serious. Like 'is it okay to laugh here...?'
-- As someone who remembers drinking not in Showa era's Kabukicho, but in Shinjuku Golden Gai (laughing), I always get those nostalgia stabs. (*when he sees those parody videos)
京 Aah, they played them there for sure. On the topic of Shinjuku, I'd really like homesexual men to listen to it. There are many homosexual men who love Nakamori Akina.
-- Ah, true. A bit before I've interviewed Kinashi Noritake. Mr. Kinashi has a song he's singing together with Matsuko Deluxe and Mitz Mangrove. When we were talking about the recording apparently Mrs Mitz said 'I will become Akina'.
(*Matsuko Deluxe is a drag queen and a popular TV persona; same as Mitz Mangrove, Kinashi is a comedian)
京 Ah, of course. Exactly, Nakamori Akina has many devoted fans.
-- I wonder why is that? In the old Truck Yarou (Truck Guys, 1975-79) series the truck decoration had either Kudo Shizuka or Nakamori Akina.
京 I also like Kudo Shizuka, but she has almost no fans among homosexual men. It's always Matsuda Seiko or Akina, for some reason.
-- The names of those two, Kinashi also said they were mentioned by the two queens.
京 I'm not surprised. I can understand Akina, she has that melancholic feel.
-- We can call it melancholy/grief, or she has this aura of an unhappy woman. It feels to me like a circumstances of a miserable woman.
京 Yup, you get hooked in. As an idol Matsuda Seiko doesn't have a dark side at all. I thought that was good. Kudo Shizuka has this bit of a yankee feel, I guess that's what makes the difference. But I do have a favourite era of songs. And also Yamaguchi Momoe, around the time close to her retirement, she was so cool to be able singing like that at her age. That also suits sukekiyo's worldview well.
-- The women of Showa era pop really left a strong impression.
京 Amazingly. But at that time there was no internet so we couldn't check anything. As an adult now when I search videos from that time on Youtube I found them so cool. When I go back and watch them I think they are very interesting. What convenient times we're in.
-- When having free time it would be fun to watch things like that, right?
京 Well, that's true. So we filmed the video for 'Candis', it is also styled like Showa era music tv programs. It came out quite interesting.
-- You made it as close to Showa era pop as you could.
京 Recently I'm watching some retro music videos. There are people who made their videos like this. But 'Candis' starts from the interview part. The previous artist's performance ends and there's announcement 'next is sukekiyo~!'. We start filming from there. Right now Mika is in the middle of editing so I hope you will look forward to it.
-- When talking to Takumi about the song idea did you already have the image of the lyrics?
京 I get an image as soon as I hear one chorus of the song. I wrote as it all came with an image of one woman. The part of the lyrics with 'naite naite naite (cry)' is the same as I roughly sang in the beginning. There was nothing else I liked more than that so I left it. I'm usually most into those first rough lyrics I sing as the first impression, so it feels really natural.
-- When we talked at the early era of sukekiyo, you said sukekiyo very often depicts woman's nature/destiny. With the fact that 'naite naite naite' came up as the first impression, you are thinking about many different things when you sing as sukekiyo.
京 Who knows.
-- Empathy is very important in singing. With sukekiyo are you just becoming a totally different Kyo to the usual one?
京 Naah, how to say it, it's really something that comes naturally. It's not divided.
-- People definitely can have several personalities and be multidimensional. Just because you're a guy doesn't mean your personality or way of thinking would be 100%/pure guy, that would be weird.
京 I don't have a, for men it would be like this, for women it would be like this, thing. I don't see a distinction. I don't know if there's any relation, but when I get a song and an image of a woman comes up naturally, I will write and sing the lyrics like that.
-- I read that Showa pop lyrics writers etc said when writing lyrics about woman's emotions,
you do something close to profiling thinking what kind of life the woman who would become the main heroine, would be leading.
京 I understand [this kind of approach]. It's easier to think in detail about things like settings and write. Like this woman would be riding in a car like this. But I don't do that either. But isn't it completely the opposite with DIR EN GREY, how the lyrics feel? Isn't the me who has those two different ways of thinking totally dangerous? Someone very effeminate and with great viciousness, someone with no in between will be dangerous, right? When talking about having ideas naturally. It might be close to a psychopath (laughing).
-- You have without realizing multiple personalities inhibiting you (laughing).
京 When you have a psychotic break various different personalities will come out, right? And then you say 'that wasn't me' (laughing).
-- (laughing) But there is a crying woman in the lyrics of Candis.
京 There is, right? By the way, the titles of songs like this all come from Drag Queen names. 'Valentina' is like that. 'dorothy' is [from the perspective of] a homosexual woman. I deliberately create titles from a place with no boundary between men and women.
-- When you're singing, I think for sure you must want the song to reach someone, for someone to get the message. How about with 'Candis'?
京 I'm most interested in the reaction of the homosexual men when they listen to the song. But I want many people to listen to it, naturally. Recently young people don't know Showa era pop, so I'd like them to listen. To see that even in this era things like that are being done. Although we're a band.
-- In 'Furesaseru' even more wretched/tragic thing happens than in 'Candis'.
京 Aah, yeah.
-- A woman who is selling her body is questioning herself about her existence and feelings, if she's right or wrong. But there's a reality you can't deny. With a title 'furesaseru・let someone touch' for such story, you definitely went far depicting it.
京 We also released it as a demo tape, but I recorded the singing again and music atmosphere also did a quite 180 turn. But the image of the lyrics didn't change so much, it wasn't possible to change the text. That was also natural. Somehow, the dark and gloomy feeling came out, atmosphere of spacing out in a hotel. What came naturally from that became this song.
-- I think everyone will react to the word 'room 304'.
京 I'm doing things like that now and then. Something that only people who get it will get. The part in 'Candis' of 'kizu wa kireina hana ni naru・a wound will become a beautiful flower' comes from the old DIR EN GREY lyrics that I wrote. People who hear it will go 'huh? He's referring to his own lyrics?' I'd be happy if they reacted to this with 🤭.
-- You're being playful. Although the lyrics content is very serious. When I listened to 'Furesaseru' after 'Candis' I could only see a figure of one woman who is falling (morally, becoming depraved).
京 That really matches well other sukekiyo songs, the before and after.
-- Do you think you're letting out the overflowing inside of you sorrow, darkness and conflicts of one woman?
京 I wonder. There's also that I like this kind of worldview. Aren't there lots of old movies and dramas that are pretty grimy? That's the strongest impression I have. It would really match perfectly if you for example watched old movies with Momoi Kaori. With love and madness being both mixed together or the image of a woman who looks good with a cigarette. I also love the series 'Gokudou no tsuma/onna tachi' (Yakuza Wifes/Ladies, 1986~). Rather than the usual yakuza movie with men, that series is so good. They are depicting women's nature, the fights between women or their ugly side. It seems that I like this kind of worldview. These kinds of things come out naturally. I'm not really watching normal ones with happy stories. Or rather, I'm not interested. Ah, and I love the old drama with Mikami Hiroshi ('Anata dake mienai' 1992) with a three split personalities theme. Because of that I asked Mr.Hiroshi to sing with me for a collaboration for VITIUM (focus Collaboration with Mikami Hiroshi included on disc 2 of the first edition). A guy who becomes a woman, the impact this drama made really stayed very vivid. And, there's the old erotic books that were thrown away at riversides*, isn't that oddly erotic? There's something so graphic/raw there. Recently, there's nothing with the same kind of feeling. It's not eroguro (erotic and grotesque), but it's tied. It matches sukekiyo really well.
(*erotic books discarded at the riverside are supposed to be Showa scenery that people have a nostalgic feeling about...)
-- Does it match sukekiyo, or is it your own desire or what you are?
京 No, I don't see this in a sexual way. I see it as an art. Like being drawn to it. A woman tied up in a Japanese room with tatami... there's something beautiful about it, I see it with the eyes like that. I'm definitely fond of eros, beauty and a decadent worldview. Such things might have been reflected in sukekiyo since before. The poledancers from that time or the signs in the neon town are also nice. I can feel the darkness with just that.
-- Creeper that will be only included on the limited edition is a song about woman obsessed with plastic surgery.
京 Something like that.
-- The struggle of wanting to become beautiful, feelings about deciding to have plastic surgery, and the fight with her true feelings if it's right or not. The way you portray it doesn't feel like a song.
京 I guess. The song itself was also the most crazy one, so we had to include the latest sounds giving strong scent of German-like atmosphere. I felt it was something for the hardcore fans only so it will be only included on the limited edition. I'm really into that song.
-- It's incredible how your voice changes colour. From the side of the doctor who performs the plastic surgery, to looking down at the society, to the patient who lost her feelings, the way you depict things changes with each scene.
京 That's also something natural for me. If I thought about it a bit more I could answer various questions, but as the years went by I stopped thinking about it. In the past, I had various things like the sound coming from the right here, rotate the position here or sing this way here. But as the years went by I let it all become natural.
-- Because, in the end, it is better?
京 I think it is. I don't mind if it's all perfect and polished, but if it's a half assed job it'd end up very immature. It's not like it was intentional like 'I really want you to listen to the lyrics here' or 'this part is really good' and so on. Things like this are also that, done in a more natural way. Singing effects are put in by band members in a way that matches the song, so I can't say anything on that. They always create something better than I imagined. Songs written by utA very often change their image to grotesque (グロっと?) in the final stage so I'm really looking forward to them every time.
-- After asking you about the lyrics, I cannot see an image of happy woman at all. By the way, the release title is 'SALUS'. Isn't it the exact opposite of the meaning?
京 Nope, I thought it would be interesting to attach a name like this to such desperate work (theme/message wise). But for the fans who will listen to it it shoud also be a relief/salvation.
-- SALUS is the female god of health, right?
京 There must be some fans who'd be like 'I've been waiting for this' even with such lyrics or songs, so I decided on [name] like that to help them even a little in these difficult times.
-- There might be some people who while listening will think 'I'm not this miserable' and cheer up?
京 There are many fans who seem to understand even if they can't trully sympathize. And even though I'm writing lyrics like that there are surprisingly many male fans, of sukekiyo. I don't understand why. They might like the music, or they might be guys who like the effeminate lyrics. But I'm glad we have many male fans.
-- There must be something, like one more feeling inside that drives me. With the lyrics that made us see the scene clearly, we can see crystal clear a woman's personality or even her view of life in a 4, 5 minute long song.
京 If you listen to the song while reading the lyrics it might be like that. This time it might be quite pronounced. Or it might be also that it's narrowed down to 3 songs. With an album it'd be a bit more spread out.
-- In December you will hold a tour 'tonari no hekiko (Hekiko/peculiar girl next to you) -shikkoku no gi-'.
京 Yup, in Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo.
-- Of course I have checked the venues and dates. But what's with this tour name? (laughing)
京 Nothing really, it's the worldview. I think many people who like this kind of worldview are distorted/twisted. Normal, when we say normal, once you say 'I like sukekiyo' you're not normal anymore. That's why I'm pointing at fans, the kid who stands next to you is the same as you. Everyone is the same race/kind. After all everyone is weird. And recently I heard there was a fan(s) who went to DIR EN GREY shows after getting into sukekiyo. I'm not sure about their reaction after seeing DIR EN GREY (laughing). But I'd like various people to listen to us. If those people could listen to me without making any distictions, not see me as DIR EN GREY's vocalist, that would make me happy.

So, someone requested a fic where Blue Team rescues a Child!Reader from a war zone, but unfortunately Tumblr ate the ask. If you’re the one who requested it, please enjoy!
EDIT: found a screenshot! @simp-for-fictional-men-only, hope you like this!
Blue Team x Child!Reader (Halo)
It’s been a long “day”, even by Spartan standards.
Blue Team had been trying to repel Covenant forces on an Outer Colonies planet for over a week… but it hadn’t been enough. Command had called an evacuation, and after destroying a base to help the efforts, Blue Team had been ordered to help with final evacuation calls in the nearest town.
On the Pelican ride to town, there was a brief moment where they thought it was a waste of resources to send Spartans for an evacuation op, especially because the other Spartan teams were still doing the best they could to strike back at the Covenant; not necessarily to stop them anymore, just to hold them back long enough for the civilians to escape and maybe a little revenge. The events of the week, coupled with the guilt of their brothers and sisters still risking their lives, weighed on them heavily.
But at the end of the day, they’re glad they did: they found a group in the Rec center, a dozen people in the boroughs, twenty in an apartment complex — the Marines wouldn’t have been able to lift most of the wreckage that blocked them from escaping.
By the time they’d gotten to the outskirts of town, Blue Team had been left alone to sweep through the dead town. Chief considered just going to meet up with the Marines — surely, they could match the pace of the overloaded Troop Transports — and this area was just dilapidated factories and shady looking establishments that had long since been stampeded.
But a need to fulfil his task to completion stayed his hand… and thank god it did.
At first, it was just soft sniffles that sounded from the inside of the rundown factory. Chief and Kelly, who’d partnered up to search this side of the district, thought it was one of the many Jackals that had been posted in the previous sector wandering, or a Grunt that had been left behind after the Jackals had entertained themselves (in which case, they should probably put the thing out of its misery), so they go inside.
Chief goes first, moving carefully through the debris so as to not dislodge the wreckage, or disturb the corpses of the few soldiers and more civilians. He retrieves their dog tags, securing them in one of the compartments of the MJOLNIR, and Kelly follows, stepping where he does.
Slowly, the sound becomes louder and louder, wheezing and snotty sobbing. Definitely an injured Grunt, he thinks. It’s coming from under a slab of concrete propped up against a wall. Kelly flanks to the right, while Chief goes to the left. He signals that he’ll lift it on the count of three, and grips the edge of the slab. When the slab gets tossed aside, Kelly raises her shotgun, pointing directly at the small figure.
You shriek and bury your head in your knees, pulled up to your chest. You couldn’t believe that after all the gross, awful things you’d had to sit through, holed up in this corner, you were just going to die.
But when nothing happens for a solid five seconds, you chance a peek over your knees and gasp. S-117 and S-087 are emblazoned across the chests of the armored giants… Spartans.
Kelly and Chief exchange confused gazes, having no idea how to deal with children. The last ones they’d had any interaction with was the Castoffs on Netherop, but they were more feral gremlins than they had been children.
(Kelly and Fred still aren’t entirely sure that the whole incident wasn’t a heat-induced hallucination.)
John really doesn’t want to go through another episode like it, but on the other hand, it would be easier if you were pelting rocks at them.
Kelly, being the more personable of the two, kneels to your height (or as close as a Spartan could get) and softly calls. “You don’t have to be scared. We’re here to help.”
You knew that — they were Spartans! The greatest heroes Humanity ever possessed! You were just shocked that you were getting rescued by them.
“Y-you’re Spartans.” You whisper dumbly, but you couldn’t help it! How are you supposed to be cool when you grew up with Master Chief’s action figure on your nightstand. “Like Master Chief.”
You can’t see it, but John can sense Kelly’s smirk as she looks over at him and points. “Well, that’s the man himself.”
* Oh no. By the way your wet, moved eyes stare up at him, it seems you’re a fan.
OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD!!! You hope your pterodactyl screeching wasn’t external.
“Whoa.” This couldn’t be real. You’d passed out from exhaustion, and were dreaming all of this. That could be the only possibility!
John knows that this is the part where he says something witty or inspiring… but he really doesn’t know what to say, so he just awkwardly clears his throat. “Are you hurt?”
You shake your head violently, a burning need to not disappoint your childhood hero, and clamber up to your feet… only to wince and lean against the wall, something sticky on your leg.
Now that you’re standing, he can see the dried blood around your ankle. “Hold still!” All the softness is gone from Kelly’s tone as she works on bandaging you up, but you don’t mind, appreciating how careful she’s being.
Co-ordinating with Linda, who informs him that there are patrols scouting the areas — probably only to get any survivors, and not to catch them, but they should still move — and Fred, who tells him that the convoy is flying off-planet via Pelicans in half an hour, John makes some quick calculations.
With the pace you’d set, hobbling alongside Kelly, whimpering every time you put your weight on your left foot, it would take them at least an hour. Too long.
“Whoa…” The sound comes unbidden from Fred when Kelly emerges, with you clutching at her hip, all bloody and dirty. A pang of sympathy strikes as he looks around and realizes all that you must have seen. He was well aware that normal children weren’t nearly as resilient as he and his siblings had been.
“….” He stays silent as you arrive in front of him, staring up at him with slight apprehension, heart racing as he tries to think of something to say — and for some reason, he lands on an awkward, weirdly Southern-sounding. “Hey champ!”
John and Kelly both shoot him weird looks, and he wants to dig a hole and die, when they hear it.
A small giggle falls from your lips, tiny hands covering your mouth as you try not to laugh. Fred sighs in relief, but his anxiety returns when Kelly’s joking voice comes over the comms saying “Well, I guess we know who’s taking care of them.”
Linda drops out of nowhere, and nearly scares you to death as you shriek and bump into John, holding his leg tightly. You don’t really notice how he freezes, confused again.
“…sorry.” She doesn’t sound sorry, you think with a pout and drop from Chief’s leg, careful of your own busted ankle.
“That’s Linda, that’s Fred and I’m Kelly. You can just call him Chief. What’s your name?”
“Y-Y/N.”
“Alright. We won’t be able to make it if you’re walking, so you need to get on one of our backs.” Chief tells you, straight to business. “Which one of us do you feel comfortable with?”
He’s really hoping you pick Kelly or Fred. It wouldn’t exactly be a burden, you’re much tinier than the full grown people he’s had to carry out of a war zone, and you’re handling it much better as well, even though you’re barely ten years old.
“Um…” You look shyly up at Fred. “If you don’t really mind…”
*Aw. That’s… actually kind of sweet. Fred beckons you over, and hoists you up between his shoulders, giving you the rundown on what to do if people start shooting, and to hold on tight when he tells you to.
*You’re much more considerate than the freaked out VIPs he’s had to extract. But he still feels you twitch every time the wind causes something to clatter, so he decides to strike up conversation.
“So how did you wind up there?” It’s not until afterwards that he realizes that, unlike soldiers, civilians aren’t comfortable discussing stuff like that. But you answer that it was your dad’s factory, explaining that it was Bring Your Kid To Work Day.
The Spartans, specifically Kelly, asked you questions about it, having never heard of it themselves. After all, military settings rarely allowed such breaches of protocol.
You only trailed off as you got to the part where he told you to hide, and Fred lets it be.
When you finally get to the convoy, a nurse hurriedly tries to pull you away from the Spartans to help out, apologizing for not doing it sooner when Fred tells her it’s fine and that you can stay. After all, Kelly had fixed you up well, and you seemed terrified at the prospect of being left alone.
All that was left to do was fly up to the ship in outer orbit, with the rest of the survivors. Since there were such few Pelicans, everyone had been crammed into them, military and civilians alike. You’d simply wandered onto the one they’d been on, sandwiched between Chief and Fred.
Chief watches you picking at your shorts, and suddenly remembers the chocolate bar Sgt. Johnson keeps giving him - “you’re not yourself when you’re hungry, Chief” He’d snicker and then leave, Chief just standing there, not understanding the reference - but hey, chocolate was chocolate.
“Here. You did well.” Your eyes go wide, and for a second he thinks you’re going to refuse, but then you snatch it out of his hand and snarf it down. This is how it must feel to watch him eat.
“You’re going to like it up there.” Fred chimes in when your gaze starts getting distant again. “Space is really cool.”
In a twist of fate, you find one of your best friends when you arrive on the ship. Their parents promise to take care of you, and thank the Spartans.
When they start directing the survivors to their quarters, you hug every Spartan, even Linda… or their legs, since you couldn’t reach anything else. (Thankfully, you telegraph it pretty well, so they don’t accidentally smack you or something.)
John just stiffens and then nods, Fred pats you on the head awkwardly and shuffles away (he was very shocked by the affection), Kelly laughs and claps you on the shoulder, and Linda just hums and pets you on the head like a dog, walking away afterwards.
You go on to be a Marine yourself, finding yourself on the Halo campaign, where Chief and Cortana save you once more. You’re surprised he still remembers you.
You leave a bar of the same brand he gave you at his shrine, giving a heartfelt eulogy and catching up momentarily with the other members of Blue Team before you all leave again.
You almost faint when he shows up at Requiem, though. Don’t feel bad, as Lasky fanboys behind Chief for the whole campaign.
Palmer corrals you and Lasky into a break room to make fun of your behavior after it’s all over.

John-117: We need more help. Maybe I should call my friends.
Kelly-087: ...your what?
John-117: My friends.
Fred-104: Are they saying “friends”?
Linda-058: I think they're being sarcastic.
Kelly-087: No no no, wait I get it. This is delirium; they've cracked from being awake all night. Hey John! All of your friends are in this room.
John-117: I have other friends! Hood asked me to make new friends, so I made new friends! It was a task. I complete tasks.

My Top 5 Games of 2019
As I like to do every year, here’s some collected ramblings about my opinions of some games I played and really liked this year. While there were a lot more than 5 games that I enjoyed this year, I only had strong opinions about these 5. Without further ado, here are my thoughts on my top 5 games of the year of our lord 2019.
DISCO ELYSIUM
Full disclosure: I have not finished Disco Elysium; I am about three quarters of the way through the 3rd day. Regardless, I loved so much of what little I played that I consider it one of the best games of the year, based solely on the world-building and characterizations I’ve encountered so far.
Disco Elysium is an adventure game/RPG where the only stats you build up are personality stats and thought processes, which affects how you talk to people and interact with the environment. The main plot is about you playing as an amnesiac cop tasked with solving a murder at the centre of a labour dispute, but to be honest I couldn't really care less about the main plot. Not to say the plot is bad per se, it just didn't grab me like how the setting and individual characterizations did. The main plot was nothing more than a vehicle for me to explore and find out more about Revachol, its residents, and how all of them came to be who they are. The amazing writing that underpins every interaction is what makes the individual interactions so compelling.
When I woke up every morning (in the game world, mind you), the only thing I wanted to do is talk to people, conveniently ignoring the dialogue choices that furthered the plot until the end of the conversation. The pétanque-playing veterans who have some scathing opinions about communist theory, the paledriver who's mind is corrupted by nostalgia, the mysterious balcony smoker who I later learned was part of the homosexual underground, the Semanese race theorist who I wanted nothing more than to punch in the face if not for my low physical instrument stat, these are just some examples of the extremely varied characters you meet while you investigate some dead dude or whatever, I guess. Speaking of the paledriver, learning about the true nature of the pale from the White Pines rep was a pivotal moment for me personally, as it made the world feel both unique and existentially terrifying. All these little details and more create the rich tapestry that is Disco Elysium. Also, some dude was murdered??? Who cares about that, I need to make my sorry-cop sing depressing karaoke!
I should really get back and finish it.
CONTROL
I remember the first time I read SCP-087 back in the day, and it introduced me up to the horrifying (and sometimes comedic) world of SCP. For those who don't know SCP (which can stand for "special containment procedures" or "secure, contain, protect", depending where you look), is a collaborative fiction wiki about fake government reports on the supernatural and paranormal. It's the bureaucratic nature of SCPs that really drew me into reading them, making it feel like I was reading real government reports.
So imagine my delighted surprise when I first played Control, I picked up the first of many report-type collectible and saw that it was written almost exactly like an SCP entry. Control is a game that asks "what if the SCP Foundation was a real branch of the US government?" and goes off the deep-end with that premise in the best possible way. The bureaucratic mundanity of the Federal Bureau of Control really shines in these reports, as you read report after report of some other-worldly phenomenon while also reading reports about the monthly book club. Beyond that, actually playing control was fun and engaging... up until the end. Jesse is a great protagonist, and the characters you meet along the way have great personality and give life to the bureau. The Oldest House is a fascinating setting to explore, with it’s brutalist look and nooks and crannies that change and spiral off in otherworldly ways. Unfortunately, for all the build-up the story was leading to, it ends on a pretty lame whimper. But the lackluster ending did not sway my overall love for Control. No one makes games like Remedy at the AAA level, and I'm happy they are making games like Control. I cannot wait for the DLC for this game to get back into it.
Also, the PC version of control does a phenomenal job at showing off how ray-tracing really is the future of lighting and graphics. The real-time reflections alone, where the scene I was watching was reflected almost perfectly on a pane of glass like an actual reflection (in real-time, no less!) was a marvel to look at. And, not since Quake 2 did coloured lighting look so pretty. Suffice to say, Control justified my RTX 2080 purchase single-handedly.
AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES
I have what one can say a love/hate relationship with the Zero Escape series. The first entry, 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors, is one of my favourite games of all time (currently ranked 3rd, if you care at all, which you probably don't, sorry to bother you), and while the cliffhanger ending of the sequel, Virtue's Last Reward, made me excited to see where the series would go, Zero Time Dilemma ultimately did not offer a satisfying conclusion. Not only did ZTD barely resolve any of the threads started in VLR, but it was a very disappointing conclusion to the entire Zero Escape series as a whole (Junpei and Akane's story just getting a tossed-off mention after you beat the game about how "they lived happily ever after" and nothing else? THEY DESERVED BETTER!). So when it was announced that the creator of the Zero Escape series, Kotaro Uchikoshi, was making a new game called AI: The Somnium Files, I was cautiously optimistic. I hoped ZTD was just a one-off and not indicative of a downward trend starting to happen, and Uchikoshi still had it in him to tell a compelling story.
Very fortunately (for me at least), AI: The Somnium Files delivered in the best possible way, meeting and thoroughly exceeding my expectations.
It took some time before the game adhered itself to me as a truly great game, unlike Zero Escape. In the Zero Escape games, given the Saw-like murder games the characters were forced to participate in, there was an sense of urgency to the story that helped propel it right from minute one. AI, on the other hand, is more procedural, which makes sense given that you're playing as Kaname Date, a cop who has a fake eye that is also an AI named AIBA (trust me, it makes sense in context), trying to solve the murder of his adopted daughter's birth mom. Not to strip the act of murder from the seriousness it deserves, but AI ends up being more lighthearted than the Zero Escape games, which only made me enjoy the game more. AI takes its time to explore it's story and characters, letting scenes breath and focus on characters instead of the mystery at hand, allowing said characters to have more development and growth. I bring this up only so I can talk about Mizuki Okiura, Date's adoptive daughter, who quickly becomes the standout character from the game. A back-talking, street-wise 12-year-old punk who forces her way into becoming Date's "partner" as he unravels an ever-growing conspiracy of politics, missing eyeballs, and twitch streamers (again, please trust me, it makes sense in context).
She also has a lead pipe she likes to beat people with.
Mizuki is the best.
She is THE BEST!
Make an entire game about her YOU COWARDS!!
...Anyways, structurally, AI plays similarly to Zero Escape, but with more adventure game elements to it. You still follow a flow-chart that branches depending on story choices you make, and you need to see all branches to complete the story. Not to keep comparing AI to the Zero Escape games (that's why I'm playing this game, so that's the lens I'm analyzing this game through; this is my essay, I can do what I want, you’re not my real dad), but unlike the Zero Escape games, AI ends on a legitimate, no-fooling, unambiguous happy ending that couldn't have put a bigger smile on my face. Sure, it was corny, but the entire game was corny, and ultimately I didn't care! I was just happy that I wasn't uber-depressed after playing one of Uchikoshi's games! It even ends on a dance number consisting of the entire cast of characters!
AI is a good time all-around!
(Except for the murders. Those are bad...probably...)
RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2
Yes, this game came out last year, but honestly I don't care. I played it this year and that's all that matters. However, as I am coming to this game later than most, most of what can be said about Red Dead 2 has already been said by way smarter people than I am, so I won't retread any of that well-trodden ground. So, I'll keep this short: Arthur Morgan's journey is one of the best told story in AAA gaming to date, and never have I felt more like a rustic cowboy wandering the the old west. People harped on the sluggish nature of the controls, but I honestly liked it, as it added to that feeling of being a wandering cowboy. I took my time meandering through the the forests of Roanoke Ridge, the deserts of New Austin, and the red earth of Scarlet Meadows. There was nothing more that I enjoyed in this game than gearing up, getting on my horse and just riding aimlessly until I encountered something that catches my attention, whether that be a 3-star animal, a legendary fish, or even a dilapidated church on a civil war battlefield. I put in well over 100 hours on PS4 earlier this year, and I've put in another 100+ hours on PC, and I don't see myself putting it down anytime soon.
Fucking superb, you funky little cowboy game.
OUTER WILDS
Outer Wilds is not only the best game of 2019, but probably one of my top 5 favourite games of all time. It's hard to describe what makes Outer Wilds a truly one-of-a-kind experience for me without spoiling the ending. It's a game driven purely by exploration and discovery. Knowledge of the world and how it works is the sole "progression" system in the entire game; so much so that you can beat it in your very first first session if you happened to have the discoveries spoiled for you. Go into as blind as possible, that’s what I did and it made the experience all the more special. Play this game, you will not be disappointed.
At this point, I will be spoiling the major parts of the story of Outer Wilds, primarily the ending, because it is the thing that I have not been able to stop thinking about since I first experienced it. Be warned that there be major spoilers beyond this point. Given that Outer Wilds is all about discovery, I highly recommend you do not read anything beyond this point if you haven't beaten it. Again, play this game, you will not be disappointed.
One of my earliest existential fears was when I learned about the lifespan of stars in the second grade. I remember it vividly: sitting in class, hearing my teacher describe the stages of a star's life, going from normal-sized star to red giant, then eventually to a supernova, then explaining that will happen to our Sun as well. The dawning realization that the Sun will grow to a size that will envelop the Earth terrified me beyond anything that has ever terrified me up until that point in my albeit short life. I couldn't sleep for days without fearing that the sun will expand, consume the Earth and burn everyone I ever loved alive. It didn't matter that my teacher said it would take millions upon millions of years before the Sun ever reached this stage, this was my single-biggest fear.
Fast-forward 23 years later to beginning of June of 2019, I pick up Outer Wilds based on the buzz the game was getting. I knew the game was based around a time-loop à la Majora’s Mask, but had no idea about one of it’s biggest “mechanics,” so to speak. My first few runs in that game resulted in premature deaths, so it took me a little bit to realize that the Sun explodes after 22 minutes and envelops everything in a fiery blaze. Seeing my childhood fear unfolding right in from of me just drove me to unravel the mysteries of the universe I inhabited, if nothing more so that I could find a way to stop it. As I learned more about the ostensible precursor race, the Nomai, whom were fixated on finding something called the Eye of the Universe but perished before they could find it, I got it in my head that, if I can just do what the Nomai failed to do, I could stop all of this from happening. Every time the time loop started, I would run out into space and unraveling the mystery further and further, each time being obliterated by the sun at the end of 22 minutes (or dying in a really stupid physics-y way), getting closer and closer to finding out what’s really going on.
Eventually, I discovered enough information to accomplish the task of reaching the Eye of the Universe: I found the coordinates of the Eye, a ship with the necessary warp-drive to get there, and a power source to make it all happen. With the keys in-hand to finally unlocking the answer to this mystery, I set off on what would be my final run: I performed the necessary tasks, said one last goodbye to the Solar System, and barreled into what I would eventually learn is the quantum singularity of time and space, a.k.a the Eye of the Universe. I stepped out into a vast, cold emptiness of quantum existence that was the Eye and wondered around, looking for something, anything. After falling through what seemed to be a quantum vortex, I eventually found a museum not unlike the one you find at the beginning of the game; a museum that is part of the tutorial for the game. This museum contains a picture at the entrance showcasing the founders of the Outer Wilds Ventures space program, the in-universe space program your nameless, faceless alien character is a part of. However, in this quantum facsimile of this tutorial museum, which is cloaked in darkness save for the sole light emanating from your spacesuit, you're positioned to see the same picture you saw at the beginning of the game, only this time a new caption appears when inspecting it:
"Outer Wilds Ventures was founded by Feldspar, Gossan, Slate, and Hornfels to explore a solar system at the end of the universe."
I'm not trying to be hyperbolic when I say that: reading that caption started to make me go through the 5 stages of grief. I was immediately in denial of what I just read. “How could the universe be ending? The Hearthians just started their space program! How unfair it is for them for the universe they were just about to explore to end like that! Also, this is a video game! You’re supposed to give me the feel-good ending of being the hero and stopping the universe-ending event from ever happening!” As I explored the quantum museum more, the fact that the universe actually ending became more and more apparent and harder to ignore. Then, I recalled pieces of information I encountered during my travels that hinted (or plainly stated and I was too deluded to acknowledge them) that the universe was ending, and transitioned to the 2nd stage of grief: anger. Anger at myself for missing something so obvious and deluding myself into thinking that I could enact change on such a cosmic scale. I quickly entered the 3rd stage, bargaining, as I tried to snap myself out of it. “The game was pulling a fast one on me,” I told myself, “I hadn't reached the "end" of the ending yet, maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. Let’s not count all our chickens before they hatch!” I interacted with with the final prompt in the quantum museum, which transported me to a forest filled with galaxies. One by one, I watched these galaxies explode and fade from existence, until all that was left was darkness. It was at this point, I truly realized there was no stopping this, and I transitioned into the 4th stage: depression.
Through my depression, I stumbled across the dark, quantum glade to where I eventually found a quantum facsimile of myself, which no joke spooked me. Then all of a sudden, a campfire appears. The game asks me to settle, roasts some marshmallows, which I do, I guess. “What else can I do? It’s all pointless, the universe is over!” As I roast marshmallow after marshmallow, I'm eventually joined by a facsimile of the first Outer Wilds Ventures companion I met after launching into the stars for the first time: Esker. Esker (”Feskermile? does that work?”) wants me to gather all the other facsimiles of the Outer Wilds Ventures folk I’ve met during my travels and have one last campfire jamboree. Still feeling defeated and hopeless, I begrudgingly set out into the darkness of the quantum forest to find Feldspar, Gabbro, Chert, and Riebeck, along with Solanum, the kinda-but-not-really-last-living Nomai I met on the Quantum Moon. Once everyone was gathered around the campfire, they started played the tune I've heard all throughout my travels in the solar system. A melody that immediately starts flooding my brain with memories of my adventures: seeing the islands of Giant’s Deep being flung into space by a storm of tornadoes; the asteroids of Hollow’s Lantern destroying the surface of Brittle Hollow, revealing a black hole core; traversing the endless fog of Dark Bramble while dodging giant eldritch anglerfish; watching the sand majestically trade places between the hourglass twins. All of these memories and more came rushing to the forefront of my mind as I listened to the characters I’ve come to know and love play the same blissful tune that propelled me on my journey up until this exact point.
As the members of the Outer Wilds Ventures space program and the both-living-and-dead Nomai finished playing their song, a new universe is born from the ashes of the doomed universe we're all currently in, which indicated to me that this is truly the end, not just for the universe, but also for the game in general. So, with a heavy sigh, I went around the campfire one last time and spoke with every character as a way to say goodbye. It was when I talked to Riebeck, the ever-optimistic banjo player, that I finally transitioned into the 5th and last stage of grief: acceptance.
"The past is past, now, but that's... you know, that's okay! It's never really gone completely. The future is always built on the past, even if we won't get to see it."
A wave of catharsis washed over my entire being. Grief is a feeling that I never truly felt while playing a video game before playing Outer Wilds. Sure, I've been sad when I character I liked gets killed and the like, but I never experienced grief so profound like the one I felt during the ending of Outer Wilds. It was grief for a universe still teeming with life about to end; it was grief for a species that just started looking at the stars not being able to fully explore their own domain; it was grief for a species that never saw the fruits of their scientific labour; ultimately, it was grief about the inevitability of death. Abject terror flooded my mind when I finally realized that the universe was truly ending and I was powerless to stop it. But that single line of dialogue from Riebeck allowed me to appreciate what was happening. I was finally happy, not because it was truly over, but because I was able to experience everything I did up until the very end. No ending, no matter the cosmic scale of it, can ever take away the memories I had existing in this universe.
With that, I collected myself, took one last look at everyone around the campfire, and collapsed the singularity, ending the current universe and giving birth to a new one, with the clearest sense of purpose I've ever had: I was finally able to confront and conquer one of my biggest fears.

Scp Containment Breach Ending
Scp Containment Breach Ending
Scp Containment Breach Ending Gate B
Scp Containment Breach Endings Wiki
SCP - Containment Breach is a free survival horror game based on the works of the SCP Foundation community. DOWNLOAD SCP - Containment Breach v1.3.11 (235 MB) MIRROR 1 (scpcbgame.com) MIRROR 2 (MEGA) Changelog.txt. Scp Containment Breach Free is safely and available to download for free from our website and easily install it in a few steps. Well, he did all the software work and I instinctively helped with testing, minor edits, and the dialogue for the puzzles. By free, the extreme version with a gtx sc is one of the searching shaders in the containment.
Never before has the popularity of a game has been driven so much by its community. Certainly nothing like SCP – Containment Breach, an indie open-source first person horror game inspired by the paranormal fictional deep web stories of the SCP Foundation.
SCP – Containment Breach is actually the perfect game for those who love fear in its purest of forms.
There are no complicated mechanics to learn, and no way to fight back the horrors that lurk inside the randomly generated facility you play inside. But if this isn’t enough to scare you to death, we’ve got something for you: a list of awesome mods that will make the experience even more terrifying.
You’ve been warned my friends.
15. Total Horror Breach
How do you make a horror game more horrific?
By horrifically changing its presentation!
The Total Horror Breach is a simple graphics and sound overhaul that makes Containment Breach even scarier. We get totally new character models and textures, and sound effects from the most popular horror games of 2012 and 2013. Spooky, I know.
The gameplay doesn’t change, but your nightmares surely will.
14. Realism Mod
I’m not sure I want a horror game to be realistic. I play and enjoy them exactly because they look nothing like the real world.
But if you’re not afraid of mixing fantasy and reality, you should definitely download the Realism Mod.
And yes, it’s exactly as it sounds: new character models for humans and other creatures, plus better sounds. Just avoid playing for too long at night: you risk ending up in a real SCP facility!
13. FOV Mod
If you’re playing Containment Breach on one of those modern 4K resolution monitors, the FOV mod will make the experience way more enjoyable.
This freebie adds the ability to change the game’s basic field of view value, so that you’ll be able to see more, or less, of the environment at any time during the game.
Make sure to not increase it too much if you’re playing on a small monitor, unless you somehow love experiencing motion sickness.
12. Five Nights at Freddy’s
Enough with those boring procedurally-generated rooms that all look the same.
Time to spend a night or two at Freddy’s!
This Five Nights at Freddy’s mod is pretty darn entertaining. It brings some new rooms and other visual elements inspired by the Five Nights at Freddy’s series.
The mod doesn’t include any major gameplay changes. But if you’re a fan of the series, you’ll recognize a few things right away.
11. Weeping Angel
Have you ever heard of the Weeping Angels? They’re mysterious. They’re dangerous.
And they’re roaming your facility!
The Weeping Angel mod replaces the SCP-173 character model with a Weeping Angel taken from the immensely popular British TV Show Doctor Who.
The angels, thankfully, don’t come with their unique powers. And you should be thankful they don’t: you wouldn’t have made it very far, trust me.
10. Disco Edition
I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to be trapped inside a disco in SCP – Containment Breach… but hey, anything goes to spice up the game, doesn’t it?
This Disco Edition mod overhauls all of the game’s rooms, hallways, and some of the SCPs so that it feels like you’re in a disco, complete with flashing lights and appropriate sound effects that will bring forth an irresistible urge to dance.
Who would ever want to escape from this place?
9. Furry Breach
Fair warning: This mod is not to be taken seriously.
Furry Breach is a very humorous modification that introduces scribbles and all sorts of weird stuff in the game. I’m not really sure who was supposed to be mocked by all this… but I’m sure it’s great for a few laughs.
Some things are better left unsaid. So give this one a go and try it for yourself.

8. WTF Messup Breach Remastered
Masters of Memes, the time for you to shine has finally come!
WTF Messup Breach Remastered will lock you inside a facility full of memes, corrosive rainbow enemies, and the sorts of stuff you can expect to see in the weirdest corner of the interwebz! Sorry, I suppose I already got contaminated here.
But if you’re looking for more fun and lighthearted gameplay, this is a mod worth trying.
7. More Rooms
In a procedurally generated game, having more elements to throw into the mix can only be a good thing. A very good thing.
More Rooms introduces a few new rooms to the game, including a new office hallway for the light containment zone, a new tunnel for the heavy containment zone, and so on.
This mod is worth installing if you’ve been playing the game for a long time, and have mastered all of its tricks. Time to get surprised once again!
6. 087-B Mod
SCP – Containment Breach can be a very scary experience. But man, you have seen nothing until you install the 087-B Mod.
This mod not only overhauls the facility’s appearance so that it looks much darker than usual, but it also brings a ton of subtle changes to the atmosphere. And even changes to gameplay mechanics.
It will almost feel like you are playing an official expansion. Specifically an expansion that wants you to wet your pants in fear!
5. Dark Confinement
Want to spice up the Containment Breach experience with a little bit more horror?
Stop wasting time and download the Dark Confinement mod. You’ll love it.
Like a couple of other mods in this list, the Dark Confinement mod aims to make the game scarier by introducing new textures, new looks for some of the SCPs, new voice clips, new sounds, a new intro sequence, and tons of new custom rooms for each containment zone.
For the best effect, try playing at night. See if you can make longer than an hour.
4. MLG Edition
The MLG Edition mod makes Containment Breach a much scarier experience, for sure. But not in the way you may expect.
But I don’t want to ruin the surprise for you, so I won’t tell you exactly what’s going on here… suspense is part of the fun.
All I can tell you is this: beware of the blue hedgehogs. And the smoking heads!
3. Half-Life: Resonance Cascade
Valve seems determined to not give us the third main entry in the Half-Life series we so desperately want, leaving us poor fans very little choice other than resorting to fan-made games and modifications.
The Half-Life: Resonance Cascade is a total overhaul that fans of the classic series will surely enjoy.
It tries to provide a look at the Black Mesa incident from a different perspective. The attention to detail in this mod is absolutely the highest caliber, so you’d better not skip on this one. Even if you’re not a die-hard Half-Life fan who prays daily for a new entry in the series, I’d say it’s still worth it.
If you’ve never played the Half-Life series then who knows, maybe this mod will turn you onto it.
2. Nine-Tailed Fox Mod
If you’re looking for a real gameplay overhaul, you should look no further than the Nine-Tailed Fox Mod.
This is among the best add-ons ever made for SCP – Containment Breach. Why so great?
Mostly thanks to the inclusion of a lot of new gameplay mechanics, including functional guns and a health bar. No more running away from these fearsome creatures: load your shotguns and show them who’s the real terror of the world.
1. Ultimate Edition
To properly mod SCP – Containment Breach, you can go at it in two different ways.
You either download all the mods in this list (and hope they’re compatible with one another) or you download the Ultimate Edition.
Ultimate Edition is a massive modding project that includes the most popular mods ever made for the game.
This means you get improved visuals, new content, new gameplay mechanics, and so on, all in a very tight package that’s just one click away.
Just make sure your PC is up for the task: in gaming, as in life, the weak get left behind.

Containment Breach The Musical is a musical with music by Sophia Macleod, lyrics by Carlisle Atticus, and book by Sal Linnen and Roger Mackenzie. It is based on the best-selling 2007 novel Containment Breach, the first book in the SCP Foundation series by author Kate McGears.
The musical debuted January 11, 2009, at the Oneiroi Theater in Wyoming and met with instant critical and commercial success. It premiered on Broadway at the Palace Theater on October 6, 2009.[1] The musical has since become a popular choice for productions by community theatres, school and university groups, summer camps and regional theatre companies.[2]
Synopsis
Act 1
A married couple are aroused from their sleep by the sound of a crying infant. The wife tells her husband that it's his turn to check on the baby. As the husband opens the door to their bedroom, he turns around and exclaims with alarm that they do not have a child. The husband is pulled through the doorway by an off-stage assailant. The terrified wife calls the police, and the call is intercepted by the Foundation Surveillance Network ('Something is [REDACTED]ing My Husband!').
Mobile Task Force Beta-12 arrives to find a globular red mass closing in on the wife. The team captures the creature in a metal crate, administers amnestics to the wife, and cleans up the husband's remains ('Just Another Tuesday'). They transport the creature to Site-19's North Containment Hall and lock it in a containment cell next to SCP-049 ('Secure, Contain, Protect'). Dr. Jack Bright and his assistants walk through the corridor to check that all SCPs are accounted for ('Roll Call').
Bright enters SCP-105's containment chamber and performs a routine test of her anomalous ability to see locations in photographs as they presently appear ('What a Wonderful World'). Afterward, she is told she may be granted certain privileges for her good behavior. SCP-105 requests various luxury items, including fresh flowers and a bible, but also asks that Dr. Bright call her by her real name, Iris. Bright approves all her requests except the final one, as calling her by her real name would be a breach of protocol ('List of Requests').
Burdened by his obligation to treat the innocent captives the same way he treats the monsters, Bright goes to the SCP-408 enclosure and confesses his guilty feelings to lepidopterist Dr. Zynnia Kondraki. Kondraki reassures Bright that he is doing the right thing, although her speech includes a number of subtle allusions to the clear romantic tension between them ('Bright's Lament').
Elsewhere in Site-19, the amorphous red blob (now designated SCP-844) reveals itself to have the voice and personality of a small, frightened child. SCP-049, contained in the neighboring cell, tries to explain SCP-844's situation in a sensitive and gentle way, but he is interrupted by Able (SCP-076), who provides a more frank and honest description of life in containment ('Where am I?'/'Being Anomalous Really Sucks, Okay?').
Loud sirens and bright flashing lights suddenly fill the hallway. The SCPs cheer, recognizing it as a Containment Breach alarm. They happily speculate who may have attained freedom, but are horrified when they find that it is SCP-106 ('Who's the Lucky Bastard?'/'Oh HELL No!'). SCP-106 silently performs a short dance number before leaving to wreak havoc in Site-19 ('Rage State Ragtime').
Meanwhile, Bright and Kondraki come close to sharing their first kiss while SCP-408 specimens create a romantic atmosphere around them ('Screw Professionalism'). Just as they are about to confess their feelings for one another, Site Director Yorick Cleffordson announces over Site-19's PA system that all personnel must assist in recontaining SCP-106 at any cost ('Put That Thing Back Where It Came From (Or So Help Me)'). Bright and Kondraki exchange awkward goodbyes and quickly run off to defend their Site.
Bright searches Site-19's East Storage Wing for anything that might be able to stop SCP-106, but all he finds are Safe-Class objects with bizarre-but-unhelpful abilities ('My Kingdom for a Euclid'). Finally, he grabs a handful of objects with unidentified anomalous properties and leaves, hoping for the best ('What the Hell, I'm Dead Either Way').
SCP-106 walks through Site-19's cafeteria, killing staff members right and left. Suddenly the cafeteria turns into an idyllic pastoral scene, causing SCP-106 to recoil in terror. It sends handfuls of black, highly acidic sludge into the air, causing SCP-408 specimens to scatter and fall (“[TANGO EXPUNGED]”). Just as SCP-106 spies Kondraki in the corner of the room, Bright bursts in with his arms full of undocumented SCP objects. He throws them one after another at SCP-106, but to no avail. SCP-106 slowly advances toward Bright until the two are face-to-face. SCP-106 reaches forward menacingly, but at the last moment, Bright puts a comb on SCP-106’s head, turning it into a beautiful young woman– much to its distress.
Site Director Yorickson enters the room with back-up security personnel, and SCP-106 is apprehended before it can remove the comb. Just as the trouble seems to be over, a support beam weakened by SCP-106’s sludge attacks begins to collapse. Bright sees the support about to fall on Kondraki and he pushes her out of the way, sacrificing himself in the process. He confesses his love to her with his dying breaths (“Screw Professionalism (Reprise)”). As his body goes limp, a red amulet falls out of his hand.
Act 2
Several days after the containment breach, a team of D-Class personnel is cleaning the damaged cafeteria. One of them finds the red amulet lying amongst some rubble and picks it up. His entire disposition immediately changes, and he runs out of the room in confusion. When captured and questioned, he claims to be Dr. Jack Bright. After he correctly answers questions only the real Bright would know, his interrogators are forced to believe him ('I'm a Doctor, Not a D-Class”).
Bright, in his new body, is designated as SCP-963 and placed in a holding cell until an available containment chamber can be found. Bright notes the irony of finding himself on the other side of the containment door (“Bright’s Lament (Reprise)'). He is surprised to find himself moved to an “overflow” chamber containing other humanoids. His cellmates, SCP-2800 and SCP-1846, attempt to raise his spirits (“It's Like a Really Long Vacation”).
Meanwhile, Kondraki, still believing Bright to be dead, has her butterflies create an illusion of him so she can say goodbye (“Damn Your Sexy Face”). Dr. Everett King enters the butterfly enclosure to retrieve some notes, and several butterflies escape as he comes in. Kondraki follows them to the cell where Bright is being held, and the two reunite (“I’m Confused, But Kiss Me”).
Elsewhere in Site-19, Able has been transferred to the cell next to Iris’. The two recount the romantic relationship they fostered as teammates in the Omega-7 Task Force as well the breakup that followed. Able begs her to see the warm, loving man behind the brutal killer (“I Would Probably Never Gut You”). However, Iris rejects the idea of ever getting back together.
Bright continues to live day-to-day life an SCP, growing increasingly dissatisfied with the way he is treated by his former co-workers. (“When You’re a Skip”). He gradually becomes sympathetic to the plight of his fellow humanoid SCPs. He only embraces the “good” SCPs at first, but he eventually warms up to the more dangerous ones as well (“We’re All Monsters, Really”).
During his weekly secret rendezvous with Kondraki, Bright tells of a massive breakout he is planning with his fellow SCPs. He instructs her to hide in a safe place so she will not be hurt during the escape, and promises to run away with her when he is free (“What Could Possibly Go Wrong?”). Kondraki agrees, but later confesses to her butterflies that she is morally conflicted (“I’m So Screwed, Guys”).
The following day, Bright springs his plan into action. With the help of various SCP allies, A massive containment breach is successfully instigated (“The Breakout Song”). Many personnel are killed in the ensuing breach, including Bright himself. However, he comes back once again when his amulet falls onto Dr. King’s recently-deceased body (“Why Do I Taste Apples?”). Bright personally releases Iris from her containment chamber, finally calling her by her proper name. Able pleads for Iris to open his containment door and release him, but she chooses not to (“It Wasn’t a Healthy Relationship At All, Really”).
Bright finds Kondraki, but she has had a change of heart and cannot bring herself to run away with him. She explains that she needs to keep her promise to the Foundation by staying behind to help recontain the SCPs that want to destroy humanity, but she still wants Bright to escape while he can (“Screw Professionalism (Reprise, Again)”). The two say a tearful goodbye and Bright departs while Kondraki stays behind to fight alongside her butterflies.
After the breach, Kondraki once again has her butterflies create an illusion of Bright with his original face. Her friend, Dr. Agatha Reach, enters the enclosure, grieving the death of Dr. King, and the two commiserate over their lost loves (“All My Boyfriends End Up Dead”). Suddenly, Bright enters the room, still in King’s body, and explains that no one knew King had died except the three of them, meaning he can essentially take over King's identity. Reach is initially disturbed, but decides she is happy her friends can be together, and says that King would have wanted things this way. Bright and Kondraki kiss, overjoyed at the second chance at living a normal life again together in Site-19 (“A Happy Ending, Sort Of”).
A group of shadowy figures monitor surveillance footage of the previous scene. As they discuss what to do, Able enters the room in a suit, revealing himself to be O5-1, head of the Overseer Council. He explains that the whole event was orchestrated by the Overseers, and that they have decided to allow Bright to live on as Dr. King. The Council meeting breaks for lunch and Able is left alone in the room. Iris suddenly enters, confused. Able explains it was all a test, and Iris tearfully runs to his arms. With the containment breach officially over, the rest of Site-19's personnel get back to work (“Secure, Contain, Protect (Reprise)”.

Spartan-117 & Spartan-087
John looked around the room, trying to get his bearings as to what object was what kind of furniture. He had never seen a Sangheili living space before. And though he was confident he knew which items were tables and chairs, John couldn’t quite decide which of the larger flat-surfaced structures in the room was supposed to be a bed. Everyone in their party was weary when they arrived at the Keep, and he hadn’t thought to ask before entering the quarters the Arbiter had directed him to.
“It’s bigger than I expected,” Kelly said as she moved through the room to look at the closest of the large pedestals. “A bit odd to see furniture that’s actually the right size for us.” She shook her head slightly and moved over to a set of cloth blankets and cushions that were stacked on two smaller tables.
“Sangheili are about the same size as a Spartan,” John pointed out, as Kelly went about her objective. She moved back to the flat structure and started to place down the cushions, building a makeshift sleeping area. John just watched her in silence, focusing more on the woman than her task. The Spartans had had the metal plating of their MJOLNIR Armor removed by a Huragok, so that Dr. Halsey could make repairs while there was a moment of relative calm. This meant the Spartans were left in their techsuits; which, while perfectly comfortable, didn’t make John feel peaceful or at ease. His eyes trailed along the outline of Kelly’s figure and he focused on his recollection of how her skin felt under his hands…That was peace.
Kelly finished arranging the items she had collected and stepped back, assessing her handiwork. “How does it look?”
John tore his gaze from his partner and looked to the bedding. “It brings back some pleasant memories,” John answered. Kelly smiled and slightly nudged his side. “You’ve gotten very good at making beds out of whatever is lying around,” he added.
“That’s because I remember the last time you tried to make one,” Kelly quipped with a light laugh before she moved to lie down on the cushions. “Not bad for an alien planet and the fact that this might really be a table or a base for a communications terminal.”
John moved to lie down beside her, and though the space was a little small for two Spartan-IIs, it was still manageable. “I’ve slept on harder,” John concluded.
Kelly turned on her side so that she was facing him, partially propped up on her elbow. “There was that one time we slept on that slate of limestone back during training. Sam wouldn’t stop complaining about his back for hours after we moved on.” John smiled at the memory, and his recollection of how much Sam hadn’t let him forget it for months after the incident. “You know, if this reminds you of the good old days, maybe we should spend some time reminiscing.” She reached back and pulled the tie from her hair, letting it fall free.
John moved his hand to her side, gently guiding her to lie partially on top of him. “We’re on an alien world, cut off from the UNSC, at the start of a new war. I don’t think that’s like anything I remember.”
“Then how about we make a few new memories,” Kelly suggested before closing the space between them.

How Professionals Get Their Paint Job Done [INFOGRAPHIC]
The most important aspect of learning how to paint like a pro is knowing what needs to be done, when, and how. Any seasoned painter will tell you that preparation is more crucial than every other detail of the job. If you get your preparation right, everything else will just fall in line.
To start with, always inspect the surface to be painted. Look out for cracks, flaking or peeling, and get the area sanded or scraped to smoothen it. Where necessary, you should even consider washing the wall to get rid of tough stains.
Next would be to ensure you have all the necessary painting tools. Roller covers, brushes, painter’s tape, sprayer, you name it. Borrow, hire, or purchase your own from reputable dealers in the area. The last thing you need is for your painting job to be affected halfway through the project due to lack of equipment.
For the roller covers, you should know that they are available in different nap sizes. Whichever size you pick depends more on the surface texture. More texture on the walls would require a thicker nap on the roller cover for it to reach into crevices and cover a larger area. Plus, longer naps hold more paint.
While on equipment, you should look for an expert who is able to provide you with an estimate of how much paint will be required to complete the task, so that you can purchase it all at once, and score some major discounts. Plus, it is also convenient to mix all the paint at once and use it for the entire project, rather than having to stop and mix new paint occasionally.
Still on preparation, cover the areas and things you don’t want to be painted. From furniture, floors, doorknobs, and other hardware. Light switches and outlet covers are to be removed if you don’t want them to be stained or glued to the wall by paint.
Now, once you have ascertained everything is available, wait for a dry weather to start painting. This is mainly because the paint will dry faster during this period. However, if you can’t wait or you happen to live in an area where the weather is mostly humid, take advantage of the slow drying to undo any errors.
Always use a separate primer if you are working on a rugged surface, or an area that was last painted more than 8 years ago. The paint-and-primer combination is only ideal for clean and smooth surfaces that happen to get a painting retouch occasionally.
While painting, let the roller do its work. If you picked the right roller cover, there would be no need to apply too much pressure. What you should be more concerned about is finding an extension pole that can reach those high regions using very little effort.
Lastly, always paint from the top to bottom so that you can roll over any drips or spatters, thus saving you the hassle of repainting. It is a great practice that has enabled professional painters like us to build remarkable reputations. LIST OF NPC RELATIONSHIPS : 2 / ?
TRACY SPIRIDAKOS as X5 - 701, syl : ( recast of nicki aycox ) 701, or syl to her brothers and sisters, was one of twelve X5 transgenics from the ages of eight and fourteen to escape from manticore’s wyoming facility. the escape was prompted by the unit’s leader, X5-599, known to the rest of the unit as zack, after he attacked a human handler whom was threatening to take X5-452, or max, from their training room after max suffered a seizure.
zack led the escape, breaking out of their manticore facility and fleeing into the forest where they zack split them up in order to thin out those tracking and hunting them down. this cost several other escapees to be captured by manticore’s security teams but also allowed for several others to get off the island undetected.
syl would bounce around from city to city, unlucky in love as zack described it, with contact made only to zack.
soon after 087′s three year undercover mission, 087 was tasked with the capture of X5-701 whom had been spotted by manticore employees while in new york city. 087 and his handler, reade jacobi, would travel to new york where 087 took on the alias of nate harmon in order to get close to syl, hoping to flush out the other ‘09 escapees by gaining her trust and her affection. throughout his assignment, 087 would be forced to report back to jacobi whilst he worked on getting through syl’s jaded exterior. as he got to know syl however, 087 began to get attached and with syl was able to experience things in life that he had not been able to during his time undercover or on base in manticore.
when 087 received orders to bring syl in after discovering that she didn’t know the whereabouts of her brothers and sisters, 087 hesitated and then later refused. prompting jacobi to move against syl himself. unwilling to let jacobi get his hands on her, 087 defended her and helped her to escape from an ambush that jacobi had set up to capture her. he was forced to admit his true identity and purpose, prompting syl to ask him why he saved her if he was given orders to bring her in.
087 was unable to answer her. syl would escape new york with the help of zack and 087 would return to jacobi where he was assigned to PSY-OPS for eight weeks. 087 was in PSY-OPS when manticore was destroyed by X5-452 and escaped the island through manticore’s underground tunnels.
upon reaching the surface just outside of seattle city, 087 decided to keep his former alias of nate harmon.
