My favourite thing about being in the Miraculous fandom is seeing all the confused replies on posts from people who dipped a long time ago.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING IN ML"
Dude
My buddy
My brother in Christ
We have no idea either, and that's the point.
Our fandoms elected mascot is a tiny cat gremlin who scarfs down cheese and also is a biblically accurate eldritch God of chaos and destruction.
Nothing makes sense here even when it does. :))))

I did a Chloé rewatch yesterday (Queen's Battle, Malediktator and Heroes Day) and she's actually even better than I remember? Like she's crazy competent as Queen Bee after the train incident, she's able to match Marinette who has more experience and knowledge than her, she's quick thinking, her dynamic with the team in Heroes Day is great, she doesn't make a fuss giving the bee back - the second time she actually gives it back immediately while saying something unrelated to giving it back, she's so genuinely worried about Adrien, she gets shot by Style Queen's beam to give Ladybug just a few more seconds to escape, her behavior around Audrey is extremely sad and she's just... So well written? I was trying to feel good watching those but I just ended up hating the next seasons more! It melts my heart when Pollen calls her my queen, how confident she is without a "mean mask" on in the suit. SHE'S. GENUINELY. HAPPY. She's never genuinely happy any other time! I miss the original five team so much, the possibilities were there not just for Chloé but for the entire team both as a team and separate characters. Heroes Day could've been the perfect finale to the show if they made it a three parter and added the reveal to it (because it would suck to end it without the core plot point everyone's... Still waiting for)
Seasons 1&2 were thematically one thing, and that thing hooked a big audience. They were a magical girl show. Marinette was the lead, she had her quirky romance everyone loved, she was slowly building her sentai, she was turning her greatest enemy into an ally, it was great.
Then the show shifted tones entirely. Challenges to be overcome turning into angst to be wallowed in. Positivity became negativity. Marinette has lost every finalé since S2. They made her be so jealous she got Fu caught in S3, they made up a weird nonsense plot so she lost the miraculous in S4, and they made her ignore her entire support system so that Gabriel could win in S5.
What even is this show anymore? Why does it hate it's own genre so much? When you lay it all out together, remember it's in a kids show, it adds up to a situation where you want to say to TA 'Dude, no judgement here but, do you think maybe you should talk to someone?'
ZAG still seems to understand. The movie is clearly running on positive messaging. 'Stronger Together' instead of 'The Wall Between Us'.

This post made me think of this: Virgin Miraculous Ladybug vs Chad Bionicle
S&P: Don't put your characters near fires. That shit's dangerous.
TA: Fine, I won't.
VS
Bionicle Producers: Lava surfing.
S&P: No.
Bionicle Producers: You're right, that's not awesome enough. Lava surfing on giant anime swords.
Ha!
On one hand get that there's some context in the sense of like. It's not showing dangerous acts, it's about repeatable acts. That's why if you watch Invader Zim the kids can't hit each other with a closed fist, but you can have a whole episode dedicated to organ harvesting.
But also.
LB and CN would be Superheroes doing Superhero stuff so it's easy to just have them do more fantastical things that children can't repeat

Something I assumed happened in the writer's room.
JZ: So Felix will steal the Miraculous after he uses the yo-yo's weird wormhole thing into the Miracle Box?
TA: No, he will give it to Gabriel who will then do it, in exchange for the Peacock Miraculous.
JZ: That doesn't make any sense. In fact this plan makes no sense at all. How does Felix know that Ladybug will go to him last to collect the Miraculous? Like what if she just looks around for Adrien first, or even finds out it's Felix before collecting the others which we know are all currently out.
TA: It won't happen that way because...Felix knows that Ladybug is into Adrien, so she'll save him for last.
JZ: Okay...assuming that works. Who's to say that Marinette won't immediately detransform, also didn't you write in Mayura that as soon as you detransform the weapon disappears. That's not what happens in this script.
TA: Yes but we need Gabriel to become Monarch. So Marinette will have a panic attack and Adrien will not help her even though he's right there.
JZ: Wouldn't it make more sense, for Felix to take the Miraculous and just rob Gabriel? Just sneak up on him when he's asleep them bam, Venom to steal the rings and both Miraculous. Now Felix is the villain of the series.
TA: No because we need Emilie to come back with the wish somehow. So Gabriel has to be the villain all the way through and we need to pay off the Future Hawkmoth tease in Timetagger.
JZ:..........
I don't really agree with this? Look, one thing you have to realize about Felix, is that he looks clever (and to an extent he is) but he's also an impulsive mess. I doubt that he knew that Ladybug would try to retrieve the dog last, though he would have hoped it would take her awhile to figure out what was going on. If she DID come to him first then I guess he could either try to run away with the Dog Miraculous or he could just hand it over while still pretending to be Adrien. What would she do? Yell at him about it more? Worst I could see her doing is punching him in the face again.
He doesn't know that Ladybug won't immediately detransform. The whole thing is a gamble, he's pretty up front about that.
And what do you mean Adrien won't help Ladybug while she's having a panic attack? Did we watch the same episode?!
Now robbing Gabriel... yeah that one confuses me. Honestly I don't know why Felix handed over so much power to Gabriel in the first place, I don't think it was actually necessary to secure the trade he wanted, and he HATES Gabriel.

The one with Alya salt
Well I'm doing this to say screw TA. May as well prove I don't think I'm any better. Here is the story based on the summary that still holds my brain hostage. Sorry in advance Flight, please don't read this.
The first time Alya and Adrien got together Marinette had been inconsolable. Faybon went after her only to find Tikki holding the earrings and looking incredibly upset. She'd been akumatised and, despite Faybon doing what he could to keep Tikki safe, it wasn't long before Chat Noir lay defeated. Alright, maybe Faybon took a little too much joy in Adrien's utter despair when he realised exactly why Ladybug wasn't coming to fix his mistakes this time. And maybe he could have actually worn the earrings and transformed like Tikki begged him too at one point. Still, he knew he couldn't let this go any further lest he risk Hawk Moth winning and doing something Bunnyx couldn't reverse. So, Faybon did the only thing he could do in this situation, he had Tikki distract the Akuma while he ran to Chat Noir, cataclysm still burning with its destructive energy. Poor kitty didn't even notice when it was pressed against Faybon's head, killing him near instantly.
The second time the two got together was just after they graduated Francois Dupont. Maybe that was the wrong way of putting it. After all, Alya and Nino were still a couple, it had just been a sex thing at first. Then they invited Marinette and, while she agreed just to be with Adrien, Faybon could see there was a part of her that was upset they wouldn't be each other's firsts. Naturally, Faybon was upset and confronted Alya about it only to be brushed off saying it was all taken care of and at least they were together now right? Needless to say, Faybon snapped. Even watching it back Bunnyx couldn't tell if it was the Akuma that made him wrap his hands around Alya's neck or if it was his own choice. Either way, when he did turn, he became the second Akuma the time traveler became terrified of. Considering Chat Blanc was the first and had completely annihilated Paris, the moon and had threatened to wipe out the universe? Faybon did not want to see the rest of that story.
The third time Alya and Adrien got together Faybon knew what to look out for. He dragged the two of them to the top of the Eiffel Tower and asked them flat out what was going on. After admitting the truth, they didn't have any time to explain themselves or make excuses before Faybon turned and jumped. It was at that point that Bunnyx decided not to inform Faybon about these particular resets, and there were definitely more to come.
The majority of them ended up with either Marinette or Faybon akumatised, others had Ladybug so upset that she wasn't able to focus and, when she tried to turn to Chat for comfort only to find out he had moved on? She gave up. Chat Noir tried to keep up the fight on his own but it couldn't last, they were a team and had only managed so far because they were a good one. Those timelines always needed to be reset before Hawk Moth got his hands on the ring and could make his wish otherwise there was nothing Bunnyx could do.
The one time they'd managed to win, to beat HawkMoth and retrieve Nooru and Dusuu, Chat Noir was heartbroken to find out it was his father behind all this and the reason why. He had reached out to Ladybug then, just as he detransformed, only for her to turn away and tell him to go cry to his girlfriend. Then she left, the other two Miraculous in tow, before her own transformation ended. Adrien did tell Alya, and she did comfort him, but the coldness he felt from his lady had hurt more than he ever could have imagined. About a week later Chloe was the one who spilled the beans on Marinette leaving for New York, finally taking her mother up on the offer. Chloe was obviously upset but the rest of the class was ecstatic to find out she was chasing her dreams. At least they were until they found out just how soon she was leaving, and that she hadn't been planning to tell them.
Faybon was the one who saved her there. Explaining how she wasn't sure she would be able to leave all her friends behind if they'd decided to throw her a going away party. Of course that didn't mean he wasn't going to tell them and had intended to do so once he'd gotten her agreement to meet him somewhere the night before she had to leave. The party was still epic and they still encouraged Marinette to go, even meeting her at the airport to see her off. Nobody noticed her earrings were missing and, if they had, she would have told them they were in luggage with the rest of her jewelry.
Marinette had handed the miracle box to Faybon to look after, despite his insistence that she take it with her. That, if getting it to New York was the problem, she could just take Kaalki with her and use her powers to come back and grab them. That's when she told him he was going to look after Tikki too. He managed to convince her to at least keep the earrings until she left, or rather to tell Ladybug to hold onto the earrings, and for the kwamis to stay with her since they already knew how to hide in her room anyway. Besides, he was going to need something other than a sewing kit to keep the box in, it would look incredibly suspicious in his room after all. That had gotten Marinette to laugh at least.
Time passed and Ladybug told Chat that they weren't needed anymore so, while she wouldn't be asking for the ring back, he needed to be aware that they weren't going to meet again. Once again Chat asked who she was but she only smiled sadly and said "Ladybug" before leaving. When it came time to hand over the earrings she hesitated, Faybon said she could still keep them but she shook her head and said she didn't know what he'd think when he found out who Ladybug really was. Faybon just rolled his eyes saying, if that's all it was, then she could have Tikki bring them over, or he could meet the kwami in Marinette's room.
When she still hesitated, Faybon let out a sigh and hugged her. He promised that, should there ever be a sign of trouble that needed Ladybug herself, he'd put on Kaalki and go straight to New York to give Tikki back. Marinette dropped the transformation before returning the hug, tears in her eyes. She didn't ask how long he'd known, it didn't seem to matter, she was just grateful he knew how much they meant to her. That didn't stop him from bringing the kwamis to the airport in order to see her off as well. She was still the guardian after all, there were too many happy memories for her to want to give that up, and no way Faybon was going to let her.
Time passed and everyone went their own way, still keeping in contact as much as possible. Every week Faybon would use Fluff to hand out the kwamis to their holders so they could all hang out together for the day, he would have used Kaalki but that would have caused trouble getting Pegasus and would require a lot of apple slices while they were still young. Fluff, on the other hand, didn't have a one time only limit and allowed the holders to get around any schedules they had set up for the day, once they consented to wearing a blindfold at least.
Afterwards he'd send the kwamis to Marinette. That took a little more finesse. First he'd transform with Kaalki and send Fluff through. A few hours later he'd open the portal again and get Fluff back. Then he'd transform with Fluff, rewind time back to just before he opened the portal and send the kwamis directly to New York via the burrow. Then he'd fast forward until the portal opened again and Fluff left before gathering the kwamis again. That happened twice before Marinette asked why he didn't just come through the portal with Kaalki and spend the time there? Suffice to say, he really felt stupid after that.
Faybon filled her in on how things were in Paris, the kwamis told her what they got up to with their holders and Tikki filled her in on how Plagg and Chat Noir were doing. In return Marinette told them all about how things were going with her designs, what the heroes were getting up to and the time she spent with Aeon and Jess. Even brought up how Sparrow wanted her to use a new Miraculous briefly but turned her down. She was still Ladybug, with or without the earrings, and it didn't feel right using another Miraculous. This then led into a discussion of other Miracle Boxes and guardians and whether it would be possible to meet up with those kwamis as well, something Tikki and the others hadn't really done since they were first made.
Overall this timeline would have been fine, it wasn't the complete happy ending it could have been but everything could have stayed on track. Faybon would have akumatised TimeTagger and sent him back to the past so none of that changed, he would have brought Marinette back with Kaalki and then given her Fluff to give to Alex so that Bunnyx would still exist and everything would be fine. All except one thing, Duusu. With no need, or desire, to create a sentimonster, Faybon would be unable to sense amoks. This meant that Adrien and Kagami would never discover their true nature and never truly be free from those who knew the truth. So, as sad as it was, once she made that discovery, Bunnyx needed to reset the timeline again. After all, with Adrien keeping a hold on Plagg, letting the knowledge of his amok remain secret was way too dangerous.
Sure she could have told Faybon and things might have worked out but the time traveler wasn't sure she trusted him. Sure Bunnyx knew that he would do whatever she asked to keep the timeline on track, even if he didn't like the constant interruptions, but something about Alya had always rubbed him the wrong way. Knowing that Adrien was a sentimonster and that the amok controlling him was in the rings she wore around her neck? Honestly she wouldn't be surprised if he assumed Alya already knew and was doing it on purpose. He'd probably akumatise himself if that were to happen.
Looking through the timeline once again, hoping that she could catch a glimpse of what the future held, or maybe whatever it was that served to piss him off to begin with, eventually she had to give it up as a lost cause. Especially when neither Marinette or Faybon moved on. Marinette even refused to come to the wedding, stating business issues. Which, while completely legitimate, as Adrien was quick to point out, still prompted a grumble from the bride to be about best friends and secrets. Needless to say, Faybon promptly walked out of the cafe where the group was meeting up. This prompted another eye roll before Rose pointed out that he left his invitation behind. Something that Adrien tried to return in person only to be pulled into a hug and told how oblivious he was.
And that was more or less how it ended. Faybon did cave to Adrien's pleading but refused to be part of the main table or the ceremony in any way. After that though, the one other person who still liked him both inside and outside the mask drifted away and, thanks to him being a paradox, was slowly forgotten about. Bunnyx had had enough at that point and rewound until years before they attended lycee. Finding little Adrien out and about on a snowy day she nudged a little pile of slush off the roof so that it landed on his head. It wouldn't change his personality but instead reinforced his desire to cover up. Which would lessen the chance of Alya finding herself physically attracted to the model before she got trapped with Nino.
With a final sigh Bunnyx sat back and watched as multiple timelines rapidly became overwritten. Who knows, maybe this time Faybon wouldn't hate Alya so much. Or at least she could figure out why, dealing with that issue would make her job so much easier. She wished she could bring him in and ask though but that had also ended a few timelines so was no longer a good idea. She did miss the popcorn he made though.

Yeah? Enemies AU are a staple in this fandom.

home is where the fight is by @rosie-b
Nadja Chamack’s voice greeted Adrien as he sat up straight, wiping his clammy hands on his pants and ignoring the black kwami floating by his shoulder. “—shocked to see our heroine fall in battle today, taking a direct hit from the akuma just as she detransformed. Parisians are torn between blaming Hawk Moth and Cat Walker for their roles in this tragedy, which ultimately revealed the civilian identity of Ladybug, Marinette Dupain-Cheng.” Adrien turned off the TV and lowered his head as his vision blurred. Written for Ladrien June Day 7: Injured
I adore this fic! Which shouldn’t be a a surprise, it’s no secret that I love Sentiadrien Enemies AU. Adrien’s so worried about Marinette getting hurt, and wishes that he could help keep her safer, could tell her what’s really going on or get rid of the ring or something, but he can’t. Still, he IS able to find clever ways around some of his father’s more problematic orders. Loopholes for the win!

with this ring by @thelibraryloser
She thought “you and me against the world” had sounded like lopsided odds before, when she hadn’t even dreamed “you against me” was a possibility. Or maybe she had dreamed it, but at least in those dreams he’d had cold blue eyes and a stark white mask. The villain she’d fought today had looked at her through her partner’s own bright green eyes. It wasn’t meant to be this way.
Short and sweet Sentiadrien enemies canon divergence fic here! I adored Marinette finding out why her kitty seemed to have “betrayed” her, and the righteous anger on his behalf once she figured out that it wasn’t of his own free will. Her comforting Adrien about it was just… really good. It’s a Hawkmoth Defeat fic too, so the immediate aftermath gets covered as well. Adrien needs a hug.

Nothing Else Matters by LiquefiedStars
Marinette couldn’t figure out Chat Noir. He was supposed to be her partner, but instead ended up working for Hawk Moth. Still, her heart betrayed her and when a strong connection forms between them, Ladybug goes to Chat looking for answers, finding out more than she bargained for.
Sentiadrien enemies AU fic! He never wanted to fight against her, but Gabriel caught him before he could transform for the first time, and with his father using his Amoks against him, he had no choice.
I like that there’s a solid explanation for why Fu let Adrien keep his Miraculous even though he’s been working against Ladybug, I don’t often see explanations for that that I’m satisfied with.

call it even by @anna-scribbles and @sha-nwa
After a year of dating, there is one thing Marinette knows for certain: it's her and Adrien against the world. Through it all, Adrien is kind, patient, and endlessly understanding—even as she tries her best to keep her secret superhero identity hidden from him along with the rest of the world.
Nothing could ruin it, not even the supervillains of Paris: Hawkmoth and Chat Noir.
(adrinette dating // ladynoir enemies au)
This is one of those fics where Adrien and Marinette are REALLY going through it emotionally, with them starting off with wildly different perceptions of each other when untransformed, and then reckoning with the person they love the most being someone they think of as a villain, with all the betrayal and doubt that involves. Especially with Adrien having been lied to extensively by his father, and not knowing who or what to believe.

one does not love breathing by @wackus-bonkus-maximus
All of Paris watched as Hawkmoth murdered Chat Noir, taking the Black Cat Miraculous for himself. Ladybug swears revenge, but her enemy—and every miraculous in his possession—disappear without a trace.
Six years later, a new team of villains launches an attack for the last remaining Miraculous: Volpina, armed with new powers; Queen Bee, with questionable loyalty; Argos, the new holder of the Peacock Miraculous; and Cat Walker, who Ladybug hates the most.
Takes place after S4 - Strike Back.
This is a simply phenomenal fic. You get to explore a lot of different perspectives, like Felix, Kagami, Marinette, and Adrien’s, just to name a few, and see their different thought processes and plans and priorities, and how it can cause their plans to collide with each other, even when they all ultimately are aiming for a good outcome for everyone. The characters are pretty complex and can mess up at times, even when they’re doing things (or not doing things, looking at you Luka) with the best of intentions. It was a joy to read and a real nail-biter the whole time, I actually wrote a fic for it halfway through just to resolve some of the tension for myself, One Does Not Love Shadows.
It also features the version of Luka I’ve connected best with to date, as he feels like Luka, but also is a lot more fleshed out, and can make some major errors while simply trying to avoid missteps. It’s helped me get a better handle on a character who I’ve generally had a lot of problems with really understanding.
It is an M-rated fic, though I think Wackus is being overly cautious on that front. There’s no sexual content and I wouldn’t put the violence or gore above a T-rating, so I wouldn’t let the rating scare you off.

The Great War by icebelle24
'And maybe it’s the past that’s talking, screaming from a crypt Telling me to punish you for things you never did So I justified it'
The unthinkable happens, and suddenly, Chat Noir’s allegiances change. Now Ladybug stands on the opposite side of the battlefield from the boy who was once her partner, left alone to make sense of an impossible situation.
At least she still has Adrien to give her hope. Or maybe things are not entirely as they seem.
I adore Ladynoir enemies au, and this is a good one. The reveal of what’s really going on is pretty great, everything makes sense. I love the pieces of Alya’s POV in this as well, as she’s trying to support Marinette through one of the biggest betrayals that could possibly happen, even while Marinette’s making some frustrating decisions that don’t make much tactical sense. Everyone’s pissed at Chat Noir (now Cat Walker) for apparently siding with Hawk Moth, and the subsequent frustrating inability to make any headway against him, as Ladybug always insists on fighting Cat Walker personally, and letting no one else take part.

cruel youth by @anyxnka
Two teenagers are chosen to wield miraculouses. Only one becomes a superhero. Weeks later, Ladybug’s lucky charm won’t stop spitting out cats.

i have found someone (like a nomad finds a home) by @hanaasbananas
After Stoneheart, Gabriel figured out who Chat Noir was, and forced him to work for him, rather than with Ladybug. Years later, Adrien is miserable until one night, he meets Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
---
Unstuck by @ominousunflower
Chat Noir, notorious supervillain of Paris, experiences a wardrobe malfunction in the best and worst possible place: Marinette Dupain-Cheng’s balcony. Heart pounding, Chat pins Marinette’s wrists to the balcony. She stares up at him, her blue eyes kaleidoscopic from the lights hanging overhead, her features twisted into a scowl. “Why are you trying to take my Miraculous?” Chat hisses. “Because—you—I—” Marinette splutters, her eyes dipping down below Chat’s face. “Why is your suit unzipped?” “I—well…” Chat sighs. “My zipper got stuck.”
---
The Son Of My Enemy by Saccha
Cat Noir never wanted to be a villain, but he doesn’t have a choice. Ladybug wishes she could save him. A reverse love square, villain!Cat Noir AU.
---
Stealing Freedom by @rosie-b
Adrien Agreste was a good person. Marinette knew this to be true, of course; she wouldn’t be marrying him if he were some irredeemable villain. No, her fiancé was practically the opposite of evil. He cooed over babies and kittens, literally stopped to smell the roses, and always brought large bouquets of them to dates. He had trouble killing spiders and bugs, begging his partner to take on the task whenever she was around to save him. Adrien was the sweetest person Marinette knew, the most kindhearted, the most forgiving; he was almost too perfect for her sometimes. But now, Marinette knew that the same Adrien who still blushed when his fiancée kissed him was also the well-known terror of Paris, Cat Walker.
Ay guys- question
Have anyone ever done a mlb au, where Ladybug is superhero and Chat Noir is a villain and they have like to enamies to lovers situation ? If yes, can I read it, if no can I do it myself ?

hoshi; vowels and veracity (m)
summary: after a blind date that makes you feel like a giddy teenager all over again, you’re forced to grow up and take a chance when you realize that special someone is your daughter’s kindergarten teacher. pairing: teacher!soonyoung x single mother!reader genre/warnings: fluffity fluff nuggets, humor, a lil bit of angst when yn panics, *steve rogers voice* language! alcohol, unprotected sex (wrap the pickle before u tickle), face sitting w/c: 5.2k a/n: i really have nothing to say about this but i’ve been thinking about going back to school all week so this manifested. enjoy a lil sexy but sweet hosh💕
“Y-you,” another giggle and the press of wet lips to the sensitive spot of your neck, “stop, Soonyoung! I’m ticklish there!”
You feel a pout imprint itself in the sweet spot between your ear and your jaw, and you sigh at the rumble of his lips against your skin, “But you taste so sweet, baby,” he croons, and you’re practically melting between the door with how much Soonyoung has pressed himself against you, all of himself.
“What if I don’t wanna stop, pretty girl?” he husks against your soft skin, whispering things in your ear that aren’t for the faint of heart. In your haste to keep a firm grip, one hand goes to his clothes and the other nips at the undercut of his midnight black hair, “what if I just open the door right now and we slip right in, and then I slip right in you?”
Your breath hitches and suddenly your core feels like a timebomb, ready to combust.
Go on a date, Joshua says. He’s a sweet guy, Joshua says. He’s a friend of Joshua’s, so you know going into this blind date that at the very least, he wasn’t a serial killer. But what Joshua failed to tell you going into this was how much Kwon Soonyoung packed and how much of a temptor in disguise he is.
“I really would love to invite you in,” it looks like it pains Soonyoung to admit this, as he presses his forehead to yours and the edge of his fingers dig into your crushed emerald velvet number, “but tomorrow’s the first day of work and I am not emotionally prepared. But, I do want to see you again. I had a great time.”
The previous mood melting into the night sky, you reluctantly let go of the lapels of his tweed blazer. Unable to suppress your crestfallen smile you nod, “That’s fine,” you reply, inching away from him to send him a pointed look, “I wouldn’t have gone inside anyway. I don’t put out on the first date,” you cross your arms in an attempt to feign nonchalance.
Which isn’t a lie, although if Soonyoung had asked you two minutes ago to come inside for a cup of tea, you wouldn’t have argued. He is just that tempting. Said date raises an eyebrow in response, tucking a strand of loose hair behind your ear at the defiance in your eyes. “Oh?” he echoes, “then what date do you put out?”
“Date seven.”
“Lucky seven,” he grins, “so if we go on a date every day this week by Friday we should be good to go. How do you feel about steak?”
You slap his shoulder in his response, and the giggle that erupts from his lips in response has you feeling dizzy and giddy with excitement. Soonyoung has you feeling like a college freshman all over again, floating like Cloud 9 and drunk in anticipation. You peck one, two more kisses on his lips. He tastes like the peach champagne you shared and his own scent as he pulls you in for a much longer, much hotter kiss.
“Good luck on your first day,” you mumble against his lips, vaguely remembering that he’s a teacher in a school nearby.
“Mm, text me when you get home,” and with a final kiss to your forehead he unlocks his door, leaving you warm and full of heart-eyes on his front porch.
The walk home, more like float home, has you feeling all parts exhausted and hopeful for the days to come. For the first time in a long time you feel young and unbridled, thrumming with excitement. Now you’re just playing with your phone, waiting to exchange goodnight texts.
“Nari’s asleep,” when you walk into your shared apartment, you spot a sleepy Seungkwan on his laptop and sprawled across your couch. “How was it?”
“It was reealllly nice,” you’re still a little wine tipsy, drunk on the taste of Merlot and a certain someone’s kisses, “he was really sweet, and surprisingly sexy.”
“Did you get dicked down?” Seungkwan asks only the most important questions.
You scoff, flopping down on the couch next to him, “As if, we have work in the morning.”
“Speaking of work, are you sure you’re not able to drop off Nari to school tomorrow? It’s her first day of kindergarten.”
“I can’t,” saying it feels absolutely awful, but a single mother has to work extra hard to keep her and her daughter happy.
“It’s fine,” Seungkwan easily waves you off and runs a hand through his fluffy auburn hair, “her favorite Uncle is there, anyway.”
“Hey,” you lightly punch his arm, “I’ve already talked Nari through it. I’m cooking a big breakfast tomorrow—chocolate chip pancakes, duh, and taking a million pictures before we have to part ways. I packed a little Kit-Kat for her lunch with a sweet note. When I come back in time for dinner I promised her pizza from her favorite parlor and she can tell me everything about her day.”
“So, you’re bribing her with food.”
“Sue me, it’s every parent’s weak spot.”
Seungkwan stretches his arms, cradling you between his chest. You sigh into his clean linen scent, feeling sleepy. “Yeah, I’ve bribed her with my Switch once or twice,” he admits softly, eyes also drooping, “but you’re a great mother regardless. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of everything tomorrow.”
“Thanks, Kwannie,” you sigh, feeling more at ease.
Nari is the light of you and Seungkwan’s life. Five years ago, you promised yourself that if you were more than financially stable and still sick with baby fever, you would adopt. You didn’t want to find a romantic partner for the sole purpose of having a child, you could easily do that on your own. And that you did, you researched and visited foster homes off in the countryside.
In a little town off the coast of the shore was where you met Nari, only six months old and full with cherub cheeks and eyes that sparkled like the moon and stars. You fell in love with her instantly. Fast forward five years later and she’s the reason you wake up every morning and work hard every day. Seungkwan being your best friend, also wanted rights as the godfather and therefore is also part of your perfect family picture.
You and Seungkwan sleep warmly tonight, both excited to share yet another year of Nari’s milestones.
“And then Mr. Kwon said I was an ‘ace’ with my vowels!” Nari has a string of cheese hanging from her chin, and you don’t bat an eye as you reach to pat it away with a napkin.
“I wouldn’t expect any less, baby,” you coo, carding a hand through her hair so her bangs don’t get caught in her meal, “remember when mommy and Uncle Kwannie taught you the vowels this summer? We sang that song.”
“Yes! I sang the same song and showed everyone how ‘ta do it,” your heart is swelling with pride, and you fight the urge to tear up because Seungkwan’s already showing signs of waterworks from his side of the table, “I read a book Mr. Kwon gave me today and he said he’s so impressed I read at a Level B.”
You quirk your brows at the new jargon. You certainly don’t know what it means to be a Level B, but it makes Nari happy and that’s all that matters. Wiping the orange grease off her lips, you muse that you must get in contact with her teacher one of these days.
“What’s a Level B?” Seungkwan similarly looks stumped at the new vocabulary.
“I don’t know!” Nari shrugs, but nevertheless her teacher’s attention has her glowing.
You giggle, “I’m so happy for you, baby.”
“I’m excited to go back tomorrow, I made a new friend! His name is Jeonghan and he helped me with my numbers today. He called my bows cute.”
“Cute?” Seungkwan perks up from his stupor, “of course you’re cute, Nari. So cute that you’re too good for this Jeonghwan boy.”
“Jeonghan, Uncle Kwannie,” she pouts when Seungkwan scoffs, in favor of shoving half a slice in his mouth. She turns to you, tugging on your blazer, “Mama, can I go watch TV now? I finished my homework and I wanna see the new Ladybug and Cat Noir!”
“Of course,” you pull away her plate, gesturing for her to go to the living room.
“Thank you mama,” and she’s bouncing off her seat, pushing her chair in and off to watch Miraculous Ladybug.
You sigh, “They grow up so fast.”
Seungkwan’s eyes widen at your age-old phrase, the words reminding him oddly of his parents when they used to talk down to him. “And here we are, aging twice as fast,” Seungkwan bemoans, already starting to feel the greasy food settle in his stomach. “We used to eat a whole pie! We could eat absolute garbage back in college and here I am weak at two slices—oh my god, am I having a ‘back in my day’ moment? We need to go out. I need to go out. I’ve been practicing consonants and vowels all day. I need a boyfriend,” he playfully narrows his eyes at you, “I need a boyfriend like yours, sweet and sexy.”
“Sorry,” you stick out your tongue, “but he’s mine.”
Perfect timing, Soonyoung’s name pops up on your phone. You two have been texting sporadically throughout the day, making plans for your next date. The two of you are going to watch a drive-in movie, a situation that screams teenage-back-of-the-truck-sex but the movie is a much anticipated favorite of yours and you genuinely want to watch it.
Soonyoung is full of humor and laughs, getting you to smile and relax at the right times during work and always manages to keep you on your toes whenever he says something flirtatious.
“Are you gonna introduce him to Nari?”
You stop typing, and look up towards your beautiful little girl in the living room. Her hair is out of her pigtails, drooping tiredly like she is. Her cheek is pressed against her favorite plush cat, fighting for consciousness because she’s waiting for Marinette to save the day. Your heart swells with affection.
“Dunno,” you shrug, trying not to think too hard about it, “we’re not that serious right now.”
You’re absolutely winded. You finished work early today, due to the fact that came in early so you could clock out and pick Nari up from school. Despite the fact that Nari says it’s okay for you not to pick her up, you can’t allow it and you want to be the one who she runs into when she comes out the door.
“Who do you think she’s gonna hug first?” Seungkwan’s elbowing you, baiting you. “Because this morning she gave me a hug and three kisses before I dropped her off.”
“Three?” you seethe in annoyance, “three kisses is our thing! Two on the cheek and one on the forehead!”
The two of you slowly steep together, waiting for the colorful blue door to the kindergarten area to file out. The heel of your shoes are digging into the grass, probably making a needle-like indentation in the dirt as you struggle not to seep into the lawn. You feel like you’re going to flop on your heels, wishing you could go run back into the car and find your flip-flops from last month’s beach trip. But before you could debate on the run the bell rings, and you’re on livewire when you see the students start to file out.
Your smile grows ten-fold when you see Nari’s jaw drop in surprise, seeing you waiting for her. She fists whatever is in her hands in surprise, breaking into the cutest smile as she screams, “mama!”
And you’re ready to hold your arms out and throw her around in circles, until you see who follows right behind her.
Kwon Soonyoung is Nari’s kindergarten teacher. Kwon Soonyoung with his hair down and untextured, wearing a mint polo and looking nothing like the date you had the other night. He looks absolutely soft and so, you are weak.
Kwon Soonyoung, the sexy deviant who sends you questionable texts and sends you funny puppy videos, is staring right at you and utterly confused when Nari rams straight into your hip.
Momentarily distracted, you pepper your pretty daughter in kisses (all three of them, two cheeks and one forehead) and tell her how much you’ve missed her. Clearly she doesn’t miss you as much, as she’s waving around a picture she drew during playtime, one of her and Jeonghan in the sandbox.
“Really, Nari,” Seungkwan mutters under his breath, shamelessly vocalizing his opinion on a five-year old, “can’t you choose a different friend?”
“Seungkwan!” you chide, but he pointedly annoys you when Nari finally enters Seungkwan’s embrace. He takes extra time to cuddle her, obviously jealous that another boy has taken refuge in your little Nari’s heart.
The moment is so sweet and simple you have no choice but to revel in it and take out your phone to snap a photo.
“Mama!” she pops her head off of Seungkwan’s shoulder, “come meet Mr. Kwon!”
And she’s tugging your hand, only you’re much stronger and you stay firmly planted on the grass. Heck, you even sacrifice your shoes by digging your heels in for extra measure.Your eyes widen in panic, but Nari doesn’t notice because she’s paving a path of dirt with her lime green light-up sneakers, trying to get you to move. You nearly forgot your latest tryst is your daughter’s teacher, and you never told him you have a kid.
But within seconds, there’s an audible slam and the three of you are shattered from your bubble. Turning to the noise the heavy navy door is now locked shut, all the students dismissed for the day. The crowd is gone. Soonyoung is gone.
Seungkwan’s eyes dart between the closed door and you, the pieces clicking. His mouth forms a little ‘o’ and he nods in understanding. “He thinks I’m your baby daddy.”
The two of you point out each other like the Spiderman meme. “He thinks you’re my baby daddy,” you echo, horror marrying your face.
“Mama? What’s a baby daddy?”
“Shh, Nari—” he picks up Nari in one swoop, mouthing a go to you as he leads her to the car.
All alone on the grass, you panic as you watch your family grow smaller and smaller as they enter the parking lot. Soonyoung’s just behind that door, right? Looking left and right to assure no one is going to think you’re being that parent and harassing the teacher within the first week of school, you bound up the steps to knock on the door. Your knocks clang heavily, echoing against the building.
Ten seconds pass. Nothing.
You deflate, pulling out your phone to shoot Soonyoung a quick text.
You: hey, can you come out for a bit so i can explain? Please
A minute passes. He leaves you on read. Defeated, you slump against the door. This day is really a whirlwind on your mental state. All you wanted today was some extra time off work, Nari’s three kisses, and maybe a goodnight text from Soonyoung if you were lucky.
The door suddenly flips open, and you’re braced against someone’s hands.
“Whoa, you okay?”
Your face crumples in relief when it’s Soonyoung that’s come out to respond to you. He’s bracing your weight by holding your arms between his hands, although keeping a respectable distance between the upper half of your bodies. It makes you a little upset, but you understand. Once you’re stable, he lets you go and leans away from you.
“Why are you waiting out here?” he asks pointedly, looking at you up and down. You seem terribly overdressed in your coral pinstripe suit, mismatching with Soonyoung’s apple sauce stains.
“Why do you think I’m waiting out here?”
“And if I close the door again?” he retorts suddenly.
“Then I’ll follow you home.”
A beat passes, whatever expression he conveys on his face is practiced and primed. You have a terrible time trying to decipher his blankness. Working with kids probably does that to an adult. “Come in,” he says neutrally, and you wordlessly follow him into his classroom.
The room is decorated beautifully, with rainbows and glitter. It’s also surprisingly organized, all the crayons in place and the play area free of stray toys. Your eyes instantly search for Nari’s desk, and a small smile fits on your face as you trace her handmade name tag.
“Normally, I don’t let parents in my room until it’s Back to School Night,” Soonyoung says, leaning against his desk. It makes you terribly nervous, knowing the ball is in your court and he’s waiting for you to make a move. His carefree, easy going nature is nowhere to be found, and all you see is walls and a mean poker face. He pulls up the sleeves of his polo, exposing pale, strong arms. Your mouth waters a little (you can’t help it!) and you immediately reach for a bottle of water in your purse. “So, what is it you have to say?”
“Seungkwan’s not my baby daddy,” you blurt, and you immediately blanch when Soonyoung’s eyes widen. “Wow uh. I didn’t mean to say it like that.”
“But you did say it like that,” Soonyoung replies slowly, “no child just doesn’t give three kisses to someone who isn’t their father.”
“I only called him my baby daddy because he said it first,” you grumble, almost childishly, “and Nari’s a baby, of course she’s going to give three kisses to anyone that feeds her and coddles her.”
“It sounds like an excuse.”
“It sounds like I’m freaking out because you keep talking back and forth like this!” you cry, slapping your hands against your thigh. You don’t have to look in a mirror to know that you’re quickly getting annoyed, your face morphing into a shade of embarrassment. You can’t tell if this is amusing him or this is a real interrogation. “Let me explain, Soonyoung!”
He says your name slowly, deliberately. And then, “do you want to take a break in the Calm Down Corner?”
“The—the what?” Soonyoung’s eyes flicker to a corner at the far end of the room. The radiator is decorated in a sky blue wallpaper, and there’s a yoga mat on the floor. There are chairs next to a desk filled with coloring pages, decorated with fairy lights. Filling three of the chairs are various stuffed animals, a tiger, a cat, and a panda, all dressed as doctors. It’s a child’s therapy corner. “You gotta be kidding me.”
He raises a brow, and—is that a smile on his lips? “Then explain, why are you here?”
“Because I think I really like you,” you confess, frustration melting away to reveal the uneasy upturn on your lips. You lied when Seungkwan asked if you would ever consider introducing Soonyoung to Nari. In a different world, you would’ve loved to take the time to take Nari to the museum and introduce Soonyoung there. They’d definitely bond over their love for tigers. “Seungkwan is my best friend, and helps me take care of Nari. I adopted her five years ago.”
Something softens in Soonyoung’s eyes, and the air feels much more relaxed. But his dark brows remain knit together, and he looks at you with confused eyes. “Then if you like me so much, why didn’t you tell me you had a daughter?”
“Because kids can be deal breakers,” you admit, and the colorful classroom feels smaller as you hug yourself. “I just, wanted you to like me first.”
It’s the primary reason why it’s taken you so long to date. Sure, there’d be a fling here and there, but nothing that feels as tangible as Soonyoung is. You’re not old enough to find a partner that wouldn’t blink at the sign of children, yet you’re still at that weird age threshold where a partner could immediately run for the hills at the mention of one. Nothing will top Nari, she’s number one in your heart, but the small selfish part wanted you to put the focus on yourself for just one night.
“You don’t have to hide, I want every part of your life no matter how long we have,” he assures you gently, firmly without an ounce of regret. Soonyoung opens his arms, and you cry in relief when you get to collapse in the scent of his cologne. You tuck your head in the crook of his neck, slightly sweaty from whatever activities he needs to do with the kids, but you don’t mind. His voice is quiet, melting in your ears, “and I really like you too. I really like Nari as well, she’s a great kid.”
“She is, isn’t she?”
You two pull away, and he swipes a thumb under your eyes in case some tears manage to escape. “So, Friday? Movie?”
“It’s a date.”
“Where’s Nari?” the question is huffed against your breath as you’re pressed between your freshly washed bedspread and Soonyoung’s body. He takes care in making sure the zipper of your delicate dress doesn’t get caught in the rush, easily slipping your dress off and throwing it on your desk chair.
“At Seungkwan’s, why?”
His cheshire cat eyes glow under the moonlight, positively devious. “It’s date seven,” he announces sweetly. His gaze betrays his saccarine reply, a look that only tells you that Soonyoung plans to fuck you five ways to Sunday, and you’ll gladly let him.
You sit up on your elbows, enjoying the show as Soonyoung quickly sheds his clothing. It’s ungraceful, exciting. Tonight was a simple carnival date, easily making you feel like a giddy college student all over again. Soonyoung won you five Pokemon keychains today, you could put a whole party on your hand.
“It’s actually date six,” you tease, tilting your head as his pants finally come off, revealing black boxer briefs that snug deliciously around the waist.
“Oh, okay,” he looks at you like you’ve spoken God’s word, reaching to pick up his shirt, “so you don’t want my dick fucking you raw tonight? Okay, I see how it is,” he pretends to put on his clothing, jabbing a thumb out the door.
You have the audacity to giggle, pulling him over by the waistband, “Come here so I can make an exception.”
You don’t know what it is that makes you want you want to give everything to this man. Heck, five years ago you didn’t even want a man as an excuse to have kids. But as he nudges you in all the right places and places you on top of him, you know this man will treat you like an absolute treasure. Every kiss is laced with smiles and sweetness, filled with vigor and vivacity that fills you up and leaves you afloat.
He takes care of you first, unwilling to let you budge as he places your core over his face. He makes quick, but effective use of his tongue and fingers, making sure you’re nice and sensitive for his future plans. You’re practically throbbing with pleasure, vibrating from every cell of your body. Within minutes he’s glistening in your arousal, and he pulls you down so you’re lined up with his crotch. It’s involuntary when you pulse against his member, your body shamefully alerting you that it’s desperate with need, and the remedy is right under you.
Soonyoung looks more satisfied than you, eager to please you. Without warning, he stuffs two fingers in your mouth, “You pretty, pretty girl,” you are keen at the attention, your body is glowing a radiant rose.
Your tongue rolls against his fingers, sticky and tasting of your arousal. Tilting your hips up you let Soonyoung pull his member out, lining it against your entrance. Feeling the soft tip brush against your delicate folds, you moan against his mouth. With a little ‘pop’ he releases you, lips shiny and parted.
“I hope you don’t think I’m some kind of hit-it-n’quit-it kind of guy,” he noses the sensitive spot of your jawline, which distracts you momentarily when the plush tip nudges your folds, coaxing you to unite. “Because after tonight, I’m definitely keeping you. Forever.”
The reply that dances on your tongue is overtaken by your whines when Soonyoung slips in fully, forcing your body to clench tightly against his. You take him, all of him. You feel wet and sticky and hot and swollen with affection as Soonyoung praises you for taking him so well. His pace is firm and passionate, short nails digging deliciously into your hips for leverage as he makes sure to fill you to the brim.
He’s right, tonight is far from being a means to an end. You feel like you can have nights like this the rest of your life. And when the both of you finish and you’re pulling the covers over one another, you finally manage to grasp the reply that was nearly forgotten.
Pressing a kiss to his jaw you whisper, “I’m keeping you, too.”
“So, how long can we keep this a secret for?”
“Ideally? Ten months. Realistically, I’d say Christmas.”
“Why Christmas?”
“Because I know you’re going to be dying to get Nari a Christmas present.”
Soonyoung props his elbow on the pillow, looking at you petulantly. “I could say it’s a good behavior reward. She’s been racking up those gold stars during morning meetings, babe. She’s not even trying.”
“That’s my girl,” you coo, rolling over to lean your head on his chest. Light has long flooded into your apartment, seeping through your curtains and reflecting on your white duvet. Soonyoung looks absolutely fluffy and well rested, and you can’t help but reach to pat down the ebony bird’s nest atop his head.
The two of you lay like that for a little bit, playing with each other’s cold feet under the covers and relishing under the touch of bare skin to bare skin. You remind yourself that you need to take Joshua out to dinner one of these days, as he managed the inevitable and set you up with an amazing partner.
“Breakfast?” Soonyoung pops the question easily, “let’s get steak.”
“Steak isn’t eaten for breakfast.”
“Then can I eat you for breakfast?”
You snort, hiding under the covers while Soonyoung attempts to tickle you. The whole act in itself feels wholly innocent despite the fact that you’re both naked and smell like sweat and sex. Just as you feel Soonyoung’s head dip under the covers to meet you at your chest, the door swings open.
“Mama!”
The previously warm room feels like wickedly sharp ice, freezing you to your spot as you clutch the covers closer to your chest. “Baby!” you cry exasperatedly, flinching when she throws all her weight on you. She’s still in her ladybug pajamas from last night, hair falling out of her braid.
She lifts her head from your breast to give you an adorable one-toothed grin. You try your best to maintain eye-contact, but Nari has impeccable vision. Her grin evolves into a full-on beam when she finds your bed partner.
“Mr. Kwon!” she’s squealing, clamoring over your lap. You do a double-take when you see Soonyoung sitting next to you, wearing a t-shirt. Where on earth did he get that?
Soonyoung’s eyes reduce to crescents at his (secretly) favorite student. “Good morning, Nari-ah. Had a fun time at your Uncle’s house?”
“Nari,” you force your daughter down to stand on the hardwood, giving her a stern look, “give Mr. Kwon some space, it’s really early and it’s the weekend.”
Knitting her brows together, she looks between the two of you, “But you two don’t have any space.”
You wince at her perception, and nudge yourself away so you’re pressed against your nightstand. The oakwood corner digs painfully into your back.
“We were haviång a very special parent meeting,” you fight the urge to cry when Soonyoung turns on his teacher's voice, sending your daughter a very convincing smile. You watch as your daughter’s eyes go wide, probably feeling very special that her teacher came all the way to her house to have a meeting. “You’ve been doing so well during the read-alouds that I had to tell your mama in person!”
“I told you mama!” Nari juts out her chest, and you lean over to kiss the crown of her head. “But Mr. Kwon, why are you having it in mama’s room?”
“Her room is the warmest!” he says like it’s the most obvious thing, his and Nari’s eyes widening simultaneously as he gestures to the open window. “The sun travels directly into your bedroom in the morning, and those rays send heat—”
“Mr. Kwon,” your voice is as steady as it can be, and you frown when Soonyoung wiggles his brows. You already know he’s thinking of three separate ways you can use the term Mr. Kwon in private, but you’re not having any of that, “shouldn’t we uh, wrap up this… meeting?”
“I wanna stay,” Nari glowers, obviously nosy as to what you two are talking about.
“I know baby. We just gotta finish up the meeting, okay? Can you—” you cut yourself off when Seungkwan finally decides to make his appearance, eyes wide at commotion he’s created. He’s in matching pajamas, ridiculously red as he bends down to scoop up Nari. Absolutely sweating and as red as his clothes, his eyes dart between the two of you. You could care less that Seungkwan’s eyes have bags under their bags, and was probably too tired to catch her when she ran inside the house. No, Seungkwan doesn’t deserve the title of godfather anymore.
“Nari! You can’t interrupt teacher meetings,” Seungkwan pretends to scold, and Nari turns her head so she can hide in her Uncle’s shoulder.
Knowing that Nari can’t see a thing, you mouth a very explicit I will kill you to your best friend, and he immediately mouths an apology to the both of you as he ushers himself out the door. You wait ten seconds for your daughter to be out of ear shot, before dropping the blanket from your neck and throwing yourself against the pillows.
But Soonyoung’s chuckling, pressing a litany of kisses all over your bare body in an attempt to comfort you. Instead of reveling in his lazy morning touch, you want to disappear between the sheets, never to be seen. What will the PTO moms say when they find out? How will you stop Nari from telling Jeonghan, and therefore Jeonghan telling the entire kindergarten population? Why isn’t Soonyoung freaking out about this? Instead, he favors to taste your body, in between kisses muttering something about it being kismet that Nari so happened to see right as you were discussing the secrecy of your relationship. Ten years from now, your daughter will be horrified when she realizes that no, teachers don’t normally give housecalls in your mother’s bed.
Your boyfriend pinches your thigh, regarding you with mirth in his eyes.
“So, that means I can buy her a Christmas present now, right?”

Demon Alya AU: Lila the Possessor
Marinette could feel the blood draining from her face. She'd expected to see almost anything when she'd decided to follow Lila, from her weaving her next lie to a clandestine meeting with Hawkmoth himself. The girl casually talking to a burning portal in midair was so far outside expectations that Marinette was having trouble reorienting herself. "You would not believe the level of goody-goody nonsense I have to put up with over here. It frankly makes me want to puke. Fortunately most of them are as gullible as they come, so I'll eventually be able to collect their souls no problem. It'll make a nice power boost for myself while I'm tracking down Hawkmoth to claim both his soul and his Miraculous. Make sure to keep up the ritual sacrifices and everything going strong, because some of my bosses are coming later this week and we want to impress them. I'll stop by later after I've checked in with 'mommy dearest'. Ta-ta." Marinette realized she needed to hide just a second too late. "Well, well," Lila grinned just a little too wide for Marinette's comfort level. "Look who just saw more than they were supposed to." "You-you..." "Yes, me, me. What of it?" "I-You-Ladybug and Chat Noir will stop you!" Marinette finally got out. To her astonishment, Lila actually laughed at that. "Those two imbeciles don't even know I exist, and it wouldn't matter if they did." She stepped up and leaned so far into Marinette's personal space that the girl had to take a step back. "I'm inviolate. The daughter of an Italian diplomat. Those two nitwits would never start an international incident. They're too noble for that." "I... I doubt you're really the diplomat's daughter," Marinette said with a confidence she didn't feel. She should have hidden. Or transformed. Being transformed right now would be really nice, but she didn't dare do it in front of Lila unless there was no other option. "Aren't you clever?" Lila simpered. "I'm not Ambassador Rossi's daughter... but I am wearing her." "Um... what...?" Marinette squeaked. "You see, there was this little Italian girl crying in the park one day a few months ago, moaning about how hard it was to make friends. How her mother kept moving and she kept having to start over from scratch and boo-hoo all the kids at her school wouldn't be her friends. And then you know what happened?" "W-what?" "She foolishly said she'd sell her soul if she could only make friends easier. I mean, what was I supposed to do with an opening like that? So I told her I could help her get friends if she wanted. She was so stupidly happy that she said she'd do anything right then and there." "W-what did you do?" "What did I do? I plunged my hand into her chest and ripped her soul out right then and there! The look on her face was priceless! 'Oh, don't worry,' I told her. 'I'll be sure you have plenty of "friends" to fawn all over you or at least me.' and then I possessed her body!" "What d-did you do with h-her then?" "Oh, I keep her around. Let her watch how well I'm fulfilling my end of our bargain. She's so ungrateful, though, always moaning about how I should stop lying and manipulating people because that's 'not what friends do'. It's so pathetic it's hilarious!" "Ladybug and Chat Noir will stop you," Marinette tried to rally herself. "I'll help them." Lila laughed like it was the funniest thing she'd ever heard. "Oh, I hope you try! Wouldn't that be a sight! Poor Marinette has a psychotic break from stress and accuses a classmate of being a demon! No one would believe you! They'll throw you in the nuthouse and I'll just take all your classmates souls anyway. Maybe I'll have them be human sacrifices too..." "Don't you dare!" Marinette snarled. She didn't care if Lila was really a demon from Hell, no one threatened her friends! "Temper, temper..." Lila sneered. "But you know, maybe you could get someone to believe you. Which would mean that 'Lila' has outlived her usefulness. I'd have to abandon her, maybe get my cult to carve her up to throw off suspicion, and find a new gullible sap to
inhabit." Lila's expression turned extremely dark and taunting. "As a matter of fact, I've had my eye on dear sweet Adrien for a while." "No..." "Yes...! Such a perfect host. Rich... famous... connected... An overprotective father who neglects him constantly, leaving a son starved for affection and attention. I could probably get him to sell his soul just by promising to get his father to pay attention to him. And you know... If you helped me, I could be persuaded to ensure 'Adrien' would be your boyfriend afterwards..." "Never!" Lila actually seemed a bit surprised by how firm her denial was. "Well, suit yourself. It's not like you can do anything to me anyway. Even if you killed this body, I'd just find a new one and then you'd never see me coming. See you around, Marinette." Marinette managed to wait three minutes after Lila turned the corner before allowing her legs to give out from under her. "Tikki..." "She's gone," Tikki said, looking uncharacteristically solemn. "Now that I know what she is, I can sense her presence easily." "How... how do we deal with something like that?" "Oh, Marinette," Tikki said gently, "what forces do you think the Miraculous were created to combat in the first place? The day we can't handle one little upstart demon is the day we retire." "Oh god, that poor girl... Lila..." "There are ways to get her soul back to her body, even if it's been taken to Hell," Tikki said. "They're some of the few rituals the Order of Guardians allowed us kwami to learn." "Okay... okay... we'll still need to get... er... 'Lila' out of... um... Lila's... body... geez that sounds weird to say..." "There are ways to do that too. Your cleansing powers could manage it, but for the best results..." "You'll need the cleansing powers of Destruction." Marinette and Tikki both looked to see Plagg, looking so thunderously irate that Marinette had to double-check that he wasn't actively using Cataclysm. "To think," Plagg said with the care and deliberation of someone who knew if they exerted any less self control they would lose any semblance of control over their temper, "that there was a possessor demon so brazen as to be on the same continent - the same city - as my kitten. And I managed to miss it for this long... I'm losing my touch. Well, now that I know she exists, there's nowhere for her to hide. I'll be teaching my kitten the more advanced uses of his powers immediately. Clearly I've been lax in his training. Well, no more. It's time to remind those spirits who would steal and inhabit the bodies of others exactly why those who wear the Ring of the Black Cat are the most feared exorcists in history." -----
Chat Noir eventually learns the tricks and when he and Ladybug face off against 'Lila', he shocks 'Lila' when he proves intent on Cataclysming her directly, but she feels confident that would only dust her 'meat suit'. She has just enough time to scream in terror when it proves to do the opposite, dusting the possessing spirit and leaving the body intact.
Ladybug does the ritual to return the real Lila's soul to her body and the girl has to spend a month in therapy before she can go out in public from the trauma.
The class welcomes her with open arms, and a hug (and secret blessing) from Rose does more good for her than the month of therapy.
The demon 'Lila's' cult seems to have vanished off the face of the earth and when asked about them, Alya and Juleka just kind of whistle innocently.
The real Lila goes on to become friends with everyone in class and eventually this traumatic chapter in her life becomes almost like a bad dream.
----- Oh, hey, you can have your Lila hate sink and your Lila redemption!

Nice!

I’ll Handle This (Chapter 1)
In honor of 1500 followers, I present to you, my first chapter of my extremely stupid fic I’ve been working on slowly to de-stress. The fic is not actually ready for regular updates, but I will post links to this when it is.
For now, it is just for my precious tumblr Angels. Enjoy!
“I’ll solve all your problems,” Plagg had said. “You just have to agree to it.” A fixed relationship with his father, Lila to stop bothering him, and Ladybug to fall in love with him? Who wouldn’t agree to that?
Except Plagg was the God of Destruction and Chaos and had a more…hands-on approach. Adrien just wants his body back.

It was foolish to think that the god of destruction was inherently good. Adrien trusted Plagg, as did the other kwami’s, since he knew the difference between right and wrong, and more often than not choose the ‘right’ thing to do.
But to assume that he was good, was foolish.
At best, he was chaotic neutral. Doing what was best for himself, which usually meant preserving the status quo.
Plagg was, despite the grand powers of total destruction and chaos, at the core, a cat. A cat that lived the life that other people would be jealous of. Sure, he spent most of his time in a pocket, but that was the warmest and most snuggliest place to be. Adrien provided him with endless cheese, and endless entertainment. In return, he had to give up his corporeal form and get sucked into a ring, only to watch Adrien blunder around in a fight for 15 minutes once or twice a week. Even then, it wasn’t that much work. Sure, Cataclysm wiped him out, but a little more cheese and he was good to go.
Yes, being the god of destruction was a sweet gig.
At least it was, until things got frustrating.
Of course he loved his little kitten, who didn’t? But watching his life unfold was like watching a soap-opera. And being a creature thousands of years old, only made it so so much harder.
It was like watching a toddler in a room full of electrical sockets with a fork in hand. Plagg knew that Adrien was bound to completely wipe out and screw himself over. That’s why Plagg was apt to gently nudge him in the right direction, without telling him outright. The kid had to learn somehow, right?
And then, Master Fu had to go and lose his memories, and now the soap opera was even more dramatic.
From a third person perspective, Adrien’s life was really not that complicated. He was in love with a girl, and she was in love with him, but not the version of him that was in love with the version of her. But of course, she thought he was in love with a totally different girl, and so she tried to move onto another boy, though Plagg doubted she was over him. Okay, in theory, it was kind of complicated.
But remove the identities, and that problem would be solved. Without Master Fu, that clock was ticking. It was only a matter of time before Marinette realized she needed to get in touch with him outside of the suit in case of emergencies. Talking to Tikki, she was even trying to coax the new guardian into that decision a little faster.
But you just can’t rush humans. They don’t know what’s good for them.
As for the rest of Adrien’s complicated messes, well, most of it would be fixed if he wasn’t such a people pleaser.
Sure, there was merit to being nice to people and turning the other cheek. Plagg could appreciate that. It was a very ‘Tikki’ sentiment.
But he wasn’t Tikki, and Adrien just needed to grow a spine already.
It was going beyond people pleasing, and going into fear of stepping on toes, and just outright masochism. It was like Adrien liked being taken advantage of and having his feelings hurt.
Well, by the way he was waxing poetic at the moment, Plagg knew that was true.
“And now I feel bad, because I know Kagami really likes me, and I know I could really like her too, but with Ladybug…ugh! I want to give up on her because she’s in love with someone else, and she doesn’t need my flirting to distract her in a fight, which I can’t even help anymore, because it’s such an automatic response, but when I think about how she’s dealing with being the guardian too, it breaks my heart and I just feel like I’m betraying her!”
“Do you feel like you’re betraying Kagami when you’re mooning over Ladybug?”
“No! Yes! I don’t know! Feelings are stupid!”
“I’ll say. That’s why I stick with cheese.”
“Ugh! You’re so useless!”
He wasn’t, Plagg would argue. Because he could see the whole thing planned out in an omniscient game board. It was just…impossible to tell him what to do. Only because was supposed to stay out of human affairs. Such was the law of the Kwami. And he was pretty sure at this point, Adrien would just brush him off with ‘you don’t know what you’re talking about.’
“Look, if dating Kagami makes you happy, then date her. If it makes you feel guilty, then don’t.”
“Bah! You don’t know what you’re talking about!”
See?
“Well, the way I see it, you can’t betray someone that doesn’t have feelings for you. Camembert won’t feel hurt if I indulge in a gouda every once in a while.”
“All you talk about is stupid cheese! You have no idea what I’m going through! No idea! My life is so hard and—and frustrating—and—!”
Oh boy, here came the waterworks.
“And whenever I need actual advice, all you do is talk about cheese! It’s so aggravating!”
“Listen kid,” Plagg said shortly. “I know how hard you have it, okay? And it’s not that hard. You’re just young. Of course everything is overwhelming, you’ve only been on this earth for 15 years, and even then, you’ve only been social for…a year? A year in a half? You just need to stop wigging out all the time.”
“That’s easy for you to say!” He ran his fingers through his hair, frantic. “You don’t care about anything! I’m trying to keep the peace between my classmates, my family, and all of Paris! You’re just callous!”
“Me? Callous?”
“Yeah! All you’re good for is destroying and making messes!”
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah! You wouldn’t have a clue how to live my life! You’d bungle it all up in an hour! No, five minutes! You know nothing about being human! You’re just—Just—!”
“Just what, Adrien? Go on, say it!” Plagg taunted.
“You’re just a stink ball!”
Plagg looked at him flatly. “Really, that’s all you got?”
“What do you want me to call you?!” Adrien nearly shouted, at the risk of alerting everyone in the house.
Plagg rolled his eyes. “You really are a piece of work, aren’t you?”
“Shut up.”
“No, I’m going to talk, and you’re going to listen.” The kwami got in his face, his patience at an end. “I’m not supposed to meddle in your life. I’m a third party observer. I can advise you against bad choices, but I can’t tell you what to do. Or else you’ll never learn. But I am sick and tired of listening to you whining and complaining about everything, and then not actually doing anything to fix it. Yes, your father sucks, yes, it hurts that Ladybug doesn’t love you like you love her, and yeah, Lila is a liar and really tricky to work with! But you’re not actually doing anything to fix it!”
“Then tell me what to do! Because I don’t know!”
“I can’t!”
“Gah!” Adrien threw his arms up in frustration.
“But…”
Adrien turned and looked at him, taking a calming breath. “But…?”
“But, I can fix everything for you. If you let me.”
“You can? You can make Ladybug fall in love with me?”
“I can fix everything. You just have to agree to it.”
“Psh! Yeah! I’ll agree to it!”
Plagg held out his paw. “Then hold up your hand, the one with the ring.”
Adrien did so, hesitating ever so slightly. “I’m not going to regret this later, am I?”
“Hmm…only if you don’t actually want to fix all your problems.”
“Fine, I agree to whatever the heck you’re doing, you weird little creature.”
Plagg closed his eyes, and then when he opened them, they were glowing green. He touched his paw to the Miraculous, and Adrien felt every muscle in his body contract. A painless current flowed through his body, sending tingles to the tips of his toes and the roots of his hair.
“The pact is made.” Said Plagg, in a voice far more ancient than Adrien was used too.
He grew dizzy, his room spinning around him, and his vision doubling.
“Plagg—ugh…”
“Just go to sleep, Adrien.”
“Nngh…”
“Sleep…”
The last thing he saw, was a pair of glowing green eyes floating towards him, until all he saw was green. And then black.
—
In the morning, Adrien awoke to his alarm going off.
He swatted his arm towards it, never quite reaching it.
“Ugh! I feel like I got hit by a train!” His voice said.
Adrien blinked, and then realized that he wasn’t the one who said that. Looking around, was his room always this big? No, certainly it wasn’t…
He sat up, wakefulness coming to him in a series of waves. First, he wanted some cheese, desperately. Second, his body felt real weird. And third, there was another person in his bed.
“Just take as long as you need to catch up, but not too long, we got school.” Said his voice again.
Adrien looked to the other person, and came face to face with himself, though the eyes were just a touch greener and the pupils were cat like. “Wha-what?”
“Ta-da!” Said he, “Now I can take care of your problems, hands on!”
“Plagg!?”
“In the flesh!”
“If you’re me, then…” he looked down at his little paws. “AH!!”
“Chill, my dude.” Said the god in human body, resting his arms behind his head. “You get a vacation.”
“But—But this isn’t what I wanted!”
“That’s what you get for not asking for more details.”
“Plagg! We have to switch back! We can’t do this!”
“No can do, kid. I will stay in your body until your problems are solved. That’s the pact.”
“What?! And how long will that take?! There’s no way you can solve all my problems!”
“It could take a few days…weeks maybe. And I’m not solving every little thing.”
“But you said—“
“Once you get these three things in order, everything else will fall in line.”
Adrien took a patient breath. “Okay…what are the three things?”
“One, your relationship with your dad, two, your unrequited love with Ladybug, and three, Lila’s sexual harassment.”
Adrien gaped at him. “We’ll be at this for months! Plagg, just change me back! How do I undo the pact?”
“Well, you can destroy the Miraculous, effectively killing me in the meantime.”
Adrien shook his head. “No no…I’d rather not do that.”
“Or…you can just relax and let me work. I’m thousands of years old. I’ve been around the block a few hundred times. Hercules had his 12 trials, you only have three. Piece of cake.” He sat up, and swung his legs over the edge of the bed, making to stand. “Whoa…haven’t done that in a few millennia…”
“Ugh, this is not going to work!” Adrien lamented, “you’re not going to know how to act like me!”
“Kid, I live in your pocket. I know exactly how you act. And your attitude is exactly what got you into this mess.”
Adrien blinked at Plagg, as he stood and began stretching like a cat. “My attitude?”
“Yeah, Mr. ‘Everyone is my friend even if they hurt me’.”
“Well, that’s what I should do, isn’t it?”
Plagg finished his stretching and placed his hands on his hips. “You just watch kid. I’ll show you how it’s done.”
“I have a feeling watching you is going to be like watching a train wreck.”
Plagg stepped into the closet. “Let’s see...what is the perfect outfit to spite a fashion designer without making you look like a total idiot...? Ah ha!”
Adrien floated off the bed, not used to the sensation, and slowly hovered over to the closet. “What?! You can’t wear that!”
“It’s in your closet, so why not?”
“It’s against dress code! I’ll get in trouble!”
“All the more reason to wear it then!” He fumbled around with his pajamas, trying to remember how to remove clothing. “Ugh, ideally, I’d love to be naked.”
“Don’t you dare!” Adrien nearly shrieked.
“Oh I won’t, but damn that would be funny.” He shimmied out of his pants and started to get dressed. “Why do you even have this outfit if you would never wear it?”
“It was for an eighties themed shoot. I get to keep all of my clothes I model. That wasn’t even designed by my dad.”
“Ohh! Even better!” Plagg sang, slipping on the white, tattered crop top, showing off Adrien’s abs. “You always wear dear daddy’s designs.”
“I have to, it’s in my contract.”
“You’re just digging yourself into a hole, Agreste.” Plagg pulled on the black denim pants, careful not to stick his foot right through the holes in his knees. Then he tied the look together with clunky black boots, a green flannel shirt, and green tinted sunglasses. “Oh yeah, now we have a look!” He tussled his hair. “Man, Pigtails is going to lose her mind when she sees this.”
“Pigtails? You mean Marinette? Why does her reaction matter?”
“You’ll just have to wait and see.” Plagg swiped him out of the air and tucked him into the flannel’s pocket.
Just in time, there was a knock on the door. “Adrien? Are you ready for school?”
“Show time.” Plagg grinned into the mirror.
“Kill me.” Adrien muttered to himself.
In the hall, Nathalie gave him a once over, her eyes wide and a eyebrow raising. “Do you really think that’s appropriate clothing for school?”
Plagg shrugged. “I’m playing with my image, so what?” Then he reached up and patted her cheek. “You work too hard, kid. You should ask for a day off every once in a while. Pretty sure Gabe’s blowing some labor laws or something.”
Shit. Damn. Ass. Piss. It was just as Adrien predicted! He blew it! And it’s only been what, a half hour?
“Adrien!” Nathalie sputtered.
But Plagg just breezed passed her, heading to the dining room for breakfast. “Oh, by the way Nat. Do you mind if I call you Nat? I need you to clear my schedule for the next few days.”
“I’ll have to check with your father—“
“Why? You’re the one in charge of the tablet.”
Nathalie was becoming visibly annoyed. “That may be so, but he’s the one in charge of me!” She huffed, then calmed herself. “You better have a good reason for wanting to clear your schedule.”
“I do. My activities are stupid. I want to hang out with my friends, have fun…you know, enjoy my life? You remember what that’s like, right?”
“What on earth has gotten into you?” She demanded.
“Sorry Nat, guess I woke up with a case of teenage rebellion.”
“Your father will not be pleased to hear about this.”
Plagg laughed. “Oh I’m positive he won’t! Go on. Better bite the bullet as they always say.”
Nathalie looked at him aghast, and headed out of the room.
Adrien floated out of the pocket. “Unbelievable. I’m dead. I’ll be locked in my room forever, and it’s all your fault.”
“Tut tut,” Plagg patted him on the head. “There’s not a lock on earth that can stop me.”
After breakfast, Plagg gathered Adrien’s book bag, being kind enough to keep his grades up. But as he reached the front door, Gabriel stopped him with a clearing of his throat.
Plagg turned and looked at him, but didn’t say a thing.
“What do you think you’re wearing?” Said Gabriel, with an icy voice.
Adrien knew that voice. That was a very very bad sign. Plagg was going to get it. Yelling, threats, prison. All of it. A hand reached into the pocket and rubbed between his ears in comfort and reassurance.
Plagg straightened up slightly, looked Gabriel in the eyes, and stated. “Respect the drip, Gabe.”
Adrien almost laughed.
Gabriel blinked, then continued with his icy tone. “You are not to address me by my first name. You know that.”
“Oh. Sure thing, Old Man.”
Gabriel frowned harder.
“Or would you prefer ‘Peepums’? Or ‘Daddy-O’?”
“‘Father’, is ideal. I don’t like this attitude, Adrien. It’s unbecoming.”
“Unbecoming? I think I wear a spine pretty well.”
Gabriel sputtered. “A sp-spine!? Is that what they’re calling disobedience these days?”
“It’s a real attention grabber, don’t you think? Because obedience wasn’t cutting it. You barely noticed me then.”
Gabriel scoffed. “You are always so dramatic! Just like your mother! I raised you better than to act out for attention!”
“Hmm…interesting. Considering you want me to grab the attention of everyone else in Paris. Or is that not what you meant? Only good attention, right?”
Gabriel’s nostrils flared. “I’m not impressed, Adrien.”
“You never are. So what’s new?”
“Go to your room. You want to act like a delinquent? Fine, then suffer the consequences.”
“How about no? You know, most kids would jump at the chance to skip school. But I actually want to go. Shouldn’t that be a red flag to you, old man?”
Gabriel took out a small remote from his pocket, and hit a button. The door and windows clicked, locked.
“You have no choice. As long as you’re under my roof, you’ll follow my rules!”
Plagg rolled his eyes, giving Adrien another scratch between the ears. “Ugh, gag me. Look Gabe, the more you fight this, the worse it’s going to get.”
“What?!”
“I’ve got a lot of pent up frustrations. I may do something drastic. I might hurt myself.”
Gabriel gave him a little knowing smile. “Teenage rebellion, hm? Fine. I’d like to see you do anything. I can see it in you right now. This is killing you. You’ve always been obedient, and you’ll continue to do so.”
“You’re calling my bluff?”
“Absolutely. Show me what’s next.”
Plagg raised an eyebrow, deliberating on what to do. Go all in?
Ah, what the hell?
“Open the door, and you’ll find out.”
“No. Absolutely not.”
Plagg shrugged. “Suit yourself.” He walked over and grabbed a vase. “Is this your pick, or mom’s?”
“That’s a priceless ming vase, hand selected from a renowned interior designer.”
“Really? Because there’s a 4 euro price tag on the bottom of it.”
“What?! No there’s not!”
“Yeah, you got me that time. It’s actually a Gien.” Then he chucked the vase into the nearest window, breaking the vase and the glass. “Now it’s a mosaic!”
“That’s coming out of your trust fund!”
“Oh, like your profits from last quarter wouldn’t cover it! I’m doing both of us a favor.” He stated as he carefully climbed out of the window.
Gabriel was too stunned to stop him. “And what favor would that be?”
Once Plagg was on the other side, he peeked back in the window and called. “Fixing our relationship! I’m your son, not your employee! Start treating me like it, and this will all go away!”
“This is blackmail!”
“No! It’s an intervention! Bye dad! Love you! Off to school!” And he booked it away from the mansion as fast as he could.
Once he was safely down the street, he took Adrien out of his pocket. He was bawling big tears.
“You okay, kid?”
“He was so angry…you broke a window! And—he’s going to take my freedom away!”
“Like I said, there’s not a lock that can stop me. He’ll come around.”
“You’re not going to ruin my public image, are you?”
“Adrien, no matter what I do, your fans will always love you. You start being a bad boy? People will eat that up. Relax. You’re worrying too much.” His eyes flicked up, noting the sign to a cafe, “ah, want some coffee?”
“I want my body back.”
“Coffee it is!”

Chapter eleven - Saving Private Chat Noir
A Cat and A Prince Master Page
Read on AO3
My Miraculous Ladybug blog
Author’s Notes: EVEN MORE ANGS- well, this one’s less angst and more action. It’s also more D&D-ish which is fun. Also also i couldn’t resist the name of this chapter, there aren’t really ranks like that in this fic haha
Marinette, Alya and Nino hid in the trees. There was a forest to one side of the battlefield which they had been forbidden to go into whenever they went to the front, as it was supposedly full of traps and assassins. But Marinette did not care. It was either hide in the trees and chance its dangers, or run across the open field and be seen and killed. She felt as though her senses had been heightened as she could hear almost every tiny sound in the fallen rotting leaves, and she could see every tiny flash of movement behind every trunk and branch. A rat had sped across in front of them and she had frozen as if it was a threat but her friends had not even noticed it.
Neither of her friends were happy with this plan, but despite Marinette telling them they could go back, neither of them wanted to let her go alone. Luckily, Nino always carried his mace and shield so he could defend the trio in case they were attacked, and Alya could conjure a weapon for herself if need be. They both worried about Marinette, but they hadn’t seen how much she had improved since being partnered with Chat. And today she was determined to find him and nothing would stand in her way.
So far, nothing had stood in her way, and they were nearing the enemy camp. The low sounds of conversation and a blacksmith hammering could be heard from behind the spiked wooden wall and Marinette could pick up the odd word. They were talking about some prisoners and she took a few steps closer to try to hear more.
“- she came in with this one soldier last night, ‘e looked so beat up. I thought ‘e was dead at first glance. ‘Ealers said ‘e should be. Took a burning rock ta the face! ‘E certainly wasn’ta pretty sight ta see when ‘e was carried in!” Marinette gritted her teeth as she heard laughter and she stepped closer still, being careful to stay in the shadows of the trees.
“Know what she’ll do with ‘im?”
“I s’pose she’ll have a lookit ‘im. See if ‘e’s fixable. Dunno if they’ll put ‘im up for ransom for one o’ ours or if she’ll wanta use ‘im ‘erself. She said summat ‘bout ‘im ‘aving summat special ‘bout ‘im. Some magics. So she’ll keep ‘im for ‘er own uses, is my guess.”
“Say where he is…” Marinette hissed under her breath as she moved a little further round, being careful to keep an eye on the guard at the open gate who was scanning the forest. Alya and Nino had hung back at her request but when she glanced back at them, they were anxiously poised to jump in at the first sign of trouble.
The blacksmith hammering stopped and she heard movement that she assumed came from the people talking. Their laughter set her teeth on edge. “I’m gonna go ‘ave a lookit ‘im now, if you wanta come along. Gotta keep ‘em fed, y’know.”
“Yeah, alright.”
Wondering if she would be able to follow them or not, she listened carefully to the direction of their footsteps. The guard she was watching waved to someone below and two men walked out, one wearing a blacksmith’s apron and the other carrying a box of sorry-looking vegetables. Her eyes lit up as they began walking around the edge of the wall, between it and the forest. She would be able to follow them. Turning to her friends, she quickly motioned for them to follow her with a finger to her lips. They nodded and began carefully padding their way through the sodden leaves.
The men continued walking around the wall and only stopped when they came to the entrance of a very large black tent. Marinette was confused. It seemed to have no protection whatsoever. She turned to Alya who closed her eyes and quickly whispered a spell. When she opened them again she nodded. “Surrounded by protection spells. Be careful.”
Marinette nodded back, placed a hand on a shoulder of each of her friends, then whispered her own spell, causing a bright red light to spring forth from the three of them. Her friends’ eyes widened in surprise but they had no time to ask any questions as she was already on the move. She was no longer sneaking, and instead boldly walked up to the entrance. A spell exploded with a loud bang as she touched the covering, sending a flurry of leaves flying around the tent, but she barely acknowledged it, continuing to step inside with the red light still shining around her form. As she entered the tent, she saw the two men she had followed staring at her in fear, plus a hulking brute in gorilla armour and a tall slight woman in peacock robes who she recognised from her first mission with Chat Noir. Marinette’s eyes widened and then narrowed in indignation. “You!”
The peacock wizard looked shocked as she took in the sight of Ladybug walking into her tent, bold as brass and unharmed. She then looked passed her as Rena Rouge and Carapace, surrounded by the same red light, also stepped through the protection spell unharmed, though both of them flinched at the explosions, then took defensive stances next to Ladybug. The gorilla soldier stormed over, raising his warhammer, and swung for the trio, but both Ladybug’s red light and Carapace’s shield caused it to bounce and it hit the desk beside him, knocking papers and vials everywhere. The wizard threw a spell at Ladybug but it never made its mark and she didn’t move a muscle in response. All she did was glare. The two men she had followed decided this fight was well above their pay grade and fled, receiving no attacks of opportunity from the trio.
Carapace continued to fight off the soldier whilst Rena Rouge conjured a mace of her own and ran towards the wizard. Making sure they were able to hold their own, Marinette turned to look around the tent. There was a cloth hanging, separating this room from the next, and she ran over to it, tearing it aside to see several tall cages packed into the room. Four of them were occupied, and there, in the first one, was his untied long golden hair spilling over his shoulders, his black leather armour and mask which she was momentarily relieved to see was still in place, and his eyes - which were closed and bruised. She rushed over to him in panic. He was hunched over, unable to lie down in the cramped cage, covered in hellish burns and gashes and drenched in blood. She removed one of her gloves, placed her bare hand on his jawline and closed her eyes, sending magical senses inside his body and finding that he should indeed not be alive. She silently thanked the magical being he had bonded with for preventing his death. When she opened her eyes again, his bright green ones were staring back at her, disbelief apparent on his face. She smiled at him but tears spilled out of her eyes and streamed down her face.
The sounds of other soldiers outside drew closer to the tent and Marinette hurriedly ripped open the top of Chat’s leather tunic and firmly placed her bare hand on his chest beneath his collarbone, much to his surprise. The magical bond that was keeping him alive had given her an idea. She closed her eyes once more and, frowning in concentration, she sent her magic into him again, this time for healing rather than assessment. Concentrating hard, she drew on every ounce of energy she had in her, knowing that it would unfortunately leave her friends in the other room vulnerable, and poured it all into him, willing his bones to mend and his muscles, organs and flesh to knit back together. Chat let out a cry of pain and began breathing heavily, his heartbeat fast and visible without his armour to hide it, but the skin she could see was pristine again under the dried blood.
“What… Ladybug, what did you just do?” Marinette collapsed to kneel on the floor of the tent and Chat bolted up to try to catch her through the bars, surprising them both. “You- you healed me? How?”
“No… time to… explain… We… have to get out…”
Chat nodded and stood up, raising his right hand. “If you can move away, do it now.” Marinette dragged herself away from the door of his cage as he held his ringed hand up to it. There was a crackle of black magic and a loud crash as the door was blasted off his cage and slammed into the one opposite, which thankfully had no-one inside it. He then stooped down to pick Marinette up and gave her a little of his own healing magic. It wasn’t much, but she felt she could at least walk now.
Just then, the soldiers from outside entered the tent, taking in the havoc four young enemies had caused with shocked expressions, then lifted their weapons to attack. Carapace had managed to subdue the gorilla soldier before his Ladybug shield had fallen, and raised his turtle shield to the first of the four attackers. Rena Rogue was still battling the peacock wizard who had taken advantage of her vulnerability and was slinging spells at her with surprising speed. Rena couldn’t dodge all of them and became paralysed when one such spell found its mark. Marinette barely had the energy to cry out for her and Chat looked on in horror. He then turned to the two soldiers who were rushing toward them, and with startling speed dodged the first attack and redirected the soldier’s weapon towards their partner, who didn’t have time to react or pull back from being stabbed in the abdomen. He then swung the first attacker round and down, and with a swift movement, snapped their neck. He moved with brutal efficiency, even without his sword, and Marinette felt a strange mixture of both pride and horror, just as one would with a house cat bringing their master a dead rat.
Carapace was being beaten down by the other two soldiers, and Rena Rogue was still paralysed with the peacock wizard looking to escape behind her. Chat picked up the sword sticking out of the stabbed soldier and threw it across the tent. It bounced off a blue light the wizard had hastily thrown up, but it still hit the shield with enough force that she fell back onto the table behind her. Picking up the other sword from the floor, Chat leapt over the bodies, slashing the backs of the soldiers attacking Carapace, and landed with the sword blocking the wizard from leaving. Carapace’s enemies were only minorly wounded by Chat’s attack, but it allowed him to push them back with his shield and regain the offensive against them.
Instead of feeling useless as she watched this fight unfold, and knowing that the spell holding Rena would only drop if the wizard chose to drop it - or died - Marinette decided to find the keys to the three cages with prisoners inside. She thought she had seen them on one of the tables before they had all been knocked over or broken, so she dropped to her knees and began shuffling through papers and ingredients. At one point Carapace had to block an attack directed at her, but he still had the upper hand in this fight, and Chat appeared to be having an angry conversation with the wizard. Marinette continued moving the debris on the ground and eventually found the keys. She groaned as she struggled to her feet, then moved over to the cages and began fiddling with the keys to try to find the correct one for each. The prisoners inside expressed their gratitude as they were released, and the two that had the energy to joined in the fight, whilst the other stayed with Marinette.
Carapace with his two new helpers quickly dispatched the last two soldiers and then suddenly Rena was released from her paralysis. Marinette turned to see Chat was tying up the wizard and admitted to herself that she would not have had the self control, nor the foresight, to even think of taking her as a prisoner. She would have been far too enraged by Chat’s capture to have even considered sparing her life, even despite her healer’s vows. She met Chat’s eyes and they shared a nod before the four of them, the three uncaged prisoners, and the peacock wizard all left the tent and hastily made their way back to the other camp through the forest.

miraculous ladybug taz AU anyone? (blupjeans, eventually)
Lup was sneaking down the alleyway when she saw her.
There was an older woman in the middle of the road, and she had tripped and fallen. Cars were barrelling down the road at rapid fire pace, and they didn't appear to have seen her. She was about to be hit.
She didn't waste a second on thought- she just ran, grabbing the woman and yanking her back to a safer part of the road.
"Dude, you gotta be more careful!" she said, breath coming fast from the adrenaline and the exertion and the fact that she hadn't eaten yet today.
"Thank you," the woman said, and she seemed pretty shell-shocked by what had happened. Lup hoped she understood the danger she'd been in. It might teach her to be a little more careful.
"Is there someone you can call? That was real close, and I don't like leaving somebody alone after something like that, but I gotta go," Lup said, and she started to look around nervously.
Now that the danger had passed, she was remembering all the reasons that she had been sneaking around in the first place. She felt far too conspicuous at the moment, an itchy, scared feeling crawling up her spine.
Before the woman could answer, Lup felt someone grasp her arm from behind.
She turned quickly, seeing a familiar, angry face above her, one hand tightly grasping Lup's arm and the other wrapped around Taako's collar, keeping him from getting too far away himself.
"Hi, Uncle," Lup tried to keep her smile from turning into a nervous grimace, though she knew it was a losing battle. "Fancy meeting you here!"
Taako snorted in amusement, but their uncle's face only grew angrier. Worth it.
"You're coming back. Now." The words were a growl, so irritated that Lup almost couldn't understand it.
Still, she protested, "Wait, I have to help this lady first-"
But when she turned to gesture to the woman she'd helped, she was gone. Must have noticed that some kind of drama was about to go down and booked it out of there. Smart lady, Lup thought.
"Never mind."
-
Back at the house, Lup collapsed onto her bed with a frustrated sigh. That sure hadn't gone how she'd expected it to. She didn't regret acting to save that woman, but she really wished that she could have avoided the trouble that had come with it.
Taako was currently moping elsewhere in the house, so she didn't even have the benefit of her brother at her side.
She'd originally planned to wait to go through her bag with him, but if he was going to be mopey, then he could wait. She wasn't going to let it stop her from examining her stash in more detail.
She knew what she’d grabbed, of course, vaguely. She had taken it with a purpose after all. But she hadn’t been able to take the time to really take notice of all the specifics of the stuff.
Except, when she reached inside her bag, the first thing she found was an unfamiliar little box.
She pulled it out, confused, and saw that it was a little jewelry box. When she opened it, a plain black ring was inside.
The ring was kind of cute, she thought, with a subtle pattern etched into it that resembled waves, with a blue line outlining the pattern.
But she hadn’t taken it.
Taking something like this was more Taako’s style, but he hadn’t been with her today when she went out, and he also knew better than to risk taking something unnecessary when they were in the position they were currently in.
But... there was no way that she could get this thing back wherever it had come from. There were many problems with that idea, not least of which was that she didn’t even know where it had come from in the first place.
And even if she hadn’t intended to take it, who would believe her? If she tried to return it, people would just assume that she’d gotten spooked and returned it in order to avoid getting caught and getting in trouble.
Therefore, it wouldn’t hurt anything to keep it. It was a nice ring, and there was no point to leaving it in the box forever. She’d be careful, but nobody was going to notice that she had a new plain little ring, right?
She carefully took the ring out of the box to get a better look at it, but the moment that she touched it, she felt a jolt of electricity, and as she watched, the ring- changed.
The size of the ring shifted a bit, and the blue waves disappeared, only to be replaced by a new pattern- one of flames outlined with red.
Lup’s eyes went wide with surprise. She wasn’t sure what kind of magic would cause something like that to happen- but clearly this ring was more than it appeared.
It occurred to her that maybe she shouldn’t put on a ring that was imbued with magic she couldn’t define, but by the time she had the thought, it was already too late. She had already begun to slip it onto her hand.
The ring was exactly the right size for her, fitting snugly but not too tight.
And at that moment, a small black blob appeared in the air before her. The blob started out formless, but within seconds, tiny limbs and ears and whiskers appeared, and the blob opened eyes it previously hadn’t possessed and looked at her.
Lup didn’t let herself shout, knowing better than to cause trouble so shortly after getting caught, but it was a close thing.
"Hey, there," the little blob said. "Name's Plagg. Who're you?"
Okay, so the blob talked. And had a name. Probably sentient then, and hopefully could answer some of the questions currently screaming through Lup's mind.
"I'm Lup," she offered, quietly. The last thing she needed was for someone to overhear her talking and come in the room to see what she was up to.
"Nice ta meet ya, Lup. Got any cheese?" Plagg asked, floating around the room curiously.
"Not on me, no," Lup said, after a moment of just watching Plagg.
He started to float toward the door.
"Got some in the kitchen?" he asked, and Lup realized where he was planning to go.
She stood up quickly, jolting over to him and grabbing him with two hands before he could leave.
"You can't go down there," she insisted.
"Ya got family? Don't worry, I know the drill. They won't see me," Plagg said, voice taking on a significantly more irritated tone.
"Uh, no offense, but why should I trust you?" Lup asked, though she did let her grip on the tiny being soften. She didn't want to hurt him.
"I'm your kwami!" Plagg said, as if that was supposed to mean something to her.
"Which means?" Lup prompted.
“Ughhhh,” Plagg let out a very long-drawn out sigh. Then he disappeared, leaving her hands to clamp together around nothing.
So. That was a thing.

Hiii! I was wondering if you read fanfic?? And if so, what are your fav tropes/works??
Hi!!!! I read A LOT of fic from A LOT of fandoms! My fav tropes are either flat comedy or enemies to friends to lovers or friends to lovers or something like that! I only read happy endings, but I don’t mind some angst in the middle. Idk what fandom you’re looking for so I’m gonna give you a list of some of my all time favs from EVERY fandom, and I’ll add one that I’ve written!
Walk That Mile by purpledaisy- 150k words 1D enemies to friends to lovers road trip AU across the US for a fun, banter-y time with some real communication issues that really get resolved well. People always say that a rom com should have a good answer for “why can’t they be together NOW?” And this one does it really well! No real angst, and a lot of fun.
Have Love, Will Travel by @kingsofeverything - 97k words 1D YouTubers on a roadtrip AU! If you liked the first one on this list, you’re gonna love this one too! Sweet and long and full of the memories you would make on a road trip. Lots of laughs with this one, and I wish I could see the “Have Road, Will Travel” video series irl!
Tell Me Now, Tell Me Now by @vanillabeanniall - 55k words 1D Miraculous Ladybug AU but you don’t need to watch the show to ADORE it - I know that I sure do!! Funny and sweet and SUPER ironic, with superheroes and Paris mixed in and great characters! Who wouldn’t love it?
So Let’s Cross the Lines We’ve Lost by thecoloursneverfade - 165k words 1D friends to enemies to friends to lovers uni AU that was one of the first that I read in the fandom and really made me fall in love! Good friends, some angst, hard convos that lead to real growth, and lots of really great characters. This feels real, for a lack of a better word, and is always compelling.
Ain’t That A Kick in the Head by keysmashlesbian, wreckingtomlinson (karasunonolibero) - 23k words 1D comedy AU ft. football player!Louis, Disaster gay!Harry, memes, frogs, head dives, Blue Coolattas (whatever those are), and a very sassy Red Robin waitress named Fiona. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve read it, and I always laugh, and I always find something new to fall in love with.
Leave it To the Breeze by @hattalove - 82k words 1D GBBO AU. This one feels like a warm hug. It’s gentle, fun, has great characters, believable angst, has you rooting for more than one of the characters to win, and is also hilarious, somehow. I’ve read this fic over and over and over, and I especially do it when I have time before a new season of GBBO. Also, have snacks!! It makes me hungry
The Section by bananaheathen - 11k words 1D Uni AU with grad student TAs, sophomore undergrads, art classes, movie analysis, and final essays as methods of seduction. Also, nicknames, nude models, a Halloween party, and absolutely shameless flirting. I loved it, and laughed the whole way through.
I’ve Heard it Both Ways by @adoredontour - 26k words 1D Psych AU. I love this one. I love the fic, I love psych, I love the author. I’ve read most of her works, but this one has such a special place in my heart. Go read it!!
Play it All Night Long by janine_tangerine - 43k words SPN radio AU with DJ!Dean and bartender!Cas, with music, annoying coworkers, sassy siblings, and lots of love. WHOAH WHATS THIS A LIVEJOURNAL FIC??? I know but I read this ages ago, and it has music EMBEDDED WITHIN THE FIC! It was my first introduction to Bob Dylan, who remains one of my favorite artists of all time.
Crossroads State by Mercy - 51k words SPN slice of life AU with Mechanic!Dean, Teacher!Cas, Law Student!Sam, and lovely lovely moments. All sweet, some tension, but no real angst. I read this forever ago, and still come back and back and back to it.
Peace and Good Luck to All Men by KismetJeska - 31k words SPN College Au. DO YOU MEAN THE BEST CHRISTMAS FIC EVER OF ALL TIME??? I read this on the first day of December every year, and it makes me laugh every time. Cas falls in love with his sister’s boyfriend, Gabe and Luke are in a seduction competition, Michael is tired of everyone, and Dean doesn’t know what hit him.
For All You Young Hockey Players, Pay Attention by @thursdaysfallenangel - 144k words SPN enemies to lovers hockey AU. Just. Please go read this. Gorgeous and still one of the best fics in the whole fandom, imo. Cas is the new transfer on Dean’s team, and Dean doesn’t like change.
The Complete Works of Emmanuel Allen by @violue - 54k words SPN small town AU ft. writer!Cas and local business owner!Dean. Dean meets his favorite author, but does not know it’s him. Shenanigans ensue, with a lovely warm feel. Dean builds a mausoleum and owns cats and lives in the woods. Cas needs a change of scene. Sam thinks everyone needs some more company.
The Mirror by cloudyjenn - 25k words SPN parallel universe AU. This was one of the first fics I ever read, and I still love it. Dean touches an enchanted mirror and travels through universes in search of an answer to a question he hasn’t asked. Full of love, family, and companionship.
Asunder by rageprufrock - 24k words SPN AU with Social worker!Dean, Doctor!Cas, Sober!Sam, and RUBY!!! Ugh I love this fic for Ruby alone. This one is more bittersweet. Dean hasn’t spoken to Sam in years due to his struggles with addiction. Sam, now sober, is getting married, and has invited him. Dean can’t face his family alone.
But It’s a Good Refrain by lady_ragnell - 23k words Merlin Radio AU! Merlin has an anonymous gossip radio show, and someone calls in to put Arthur on blast! Morgana is a fan, Arthur is not amused, and a sort of enemies to lovers thing occurs. Just lovely, and it makes me laugh every time.
And Like the Cycle of the Year, We Begin Again by @katherynefromphilly - 208k words Merlin canon compliant. This is the Season 6 we should have had. If you’re at all into this fandom, go read it - it’s still an all time fav for me. Hundreds of years later, Arthur walks out of the lake. Merlin has been waiting.
Give The Dragon a Chili by @supercalvin - 47k words Merlin magical AU based on the story in New Zealand of the cat stealing someone’s underwear. Merlin’s dragon is sort of a thief.
Fundamental Imperfection by Starlingthefool - 12k words Merlin famous author AU. Arthur likes Dickens. Merlin does not. They get into it on a panel, and twitter stan wars ensue. And enemies to friends to lovers where literary arguments are an expression of love, and stories are magical.
The Student Prince by FayJay - 145k words Merlin Uni AU. What a classic!! It’s a magical realism royal enemies to friends to lovers AU ft. a dragon in the walls, a lovely gay soc, Gwen as a Muggle, and some really great characters and moments. Do yourself a favor and go read this one.
Call it Love by @dalek-in-heels - 30k words Merlin RPF. UGH THIS ONE!!! Okay 1.) the author is one of my best friends, and she’s amazing! 2.) lovely fic that takes place at the end of Merlin, and still has one of my all-time favorite misunderstandings in fic ever. “Yogurty Heart” is my favorite way to say I love you.
If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things by @watsonshoneybee - 35k words Sherlock AU canon compliant through season 3. This one is sad, but the title is taken off of one of my favorite books, and the writing is gorgeous - as is the characterization. Happy ending, though! I promise! So the journey is all worth it!
In All of the Lives We Are by @dalek-in-heels - 20k words The Magicians canon compliant through the first half of season 3. Sarah does it again and writes one of the best fics I’ve ever read. Art as therapy, a sweet love story in more than one universe, and finding the will to keep going through the worst days. The writers of the actual show should have read this fic and put it on the screen. This is my canon.
A Happy Ending? Sure Enough by me (imbellarosa) - 8k words The Magicians canon compliant up to season 4. This is the only one of mine I’m putting on the list, because I still really like this one! You need some context, but not much? Idk, just if you want to see how *I* write!
#fic recs!#anon asks#i answer#long post for ts#hey anon if you want a more targeted fic rec in one particular fandom come back and let me know#and i'll make you another list!

Miraculous Rewrite- The Macaw
So here we begin, the end is nigh, and thus begins our fully original season
We open on the Woman we met at the end of Season Three, Wu Lian flips through the Grimoire and huffs to herself. “I see. Nathalie Sancour, Gabriel Agreste, The drain that Duusuu has placed upon you to fuel her projections shall be stopped. Now, only Duusuu herself can divulge information on how she was injured, but with her in her weakened state, answers will have to wait until healing. And fortunately for you both, Tsering sent for me first.” She gestures for the two to follow her.
“While I cannot restore the life energy you’ve lost I can heal Duusuu to make sure no more is taken from the both of you and from there you may heal if given time.” Wu Lian has the two of them lay down on a pair of cots that were placed inside the Lair. Wu Lian glances once at the pod in the shadows of the room but shrugs. “Now, let me see the Peacock. Our friends will be arriving shortly and it wouldn’t do to have the two of you dying on the front steps, one should be making a good first impressions after all.”
“With the traitor out of the way, don't worry, the children who have bested you both will either see the truth, or they will die.”
Gabriel jolts back up into a sitting position and even Nathalie flinches in place “My Son is one of those children!”
Wu Lian raises a brow “I see, in that case he will be safe. But the others I cannot promise for. The Tiger made a fool out of Tsering, and some of the children know how to use their Miraculouses far too well to trust that they’ll be able to be incapacitated without being killed.”
“I don’t care about that.” But he’s not making eye contact with her anymore. “I only need you to swear the dog will be safe. Fenrir. He’s my son and if anything happens to him-”
“Once the Ladybug and the Cat are dead I’m sure it’ll be easy to keep him from the same fate.” Wu Lian assures him. “Now lay down.”
“Duusuu, come out little one, it’s time for you to heal.” There’s a flash of blue light from the peacock on the table between the two cots, and Duusuu blinks her big eyes up at Wu Lian.
“Miss Lian! It’s been so long! At least three years!” she hovers upward to inspect the elderly woman “You look different, did you change your hair?”
“As in the moment as your projections, Duusuu.” Wu Lian chuckles and offers a hand to Duusuu. “It’s time to heal from your wounds.”
After returning from the opening, we open on Chloe and Amber, standing before a set of double doors, calling to mind for cultured folk a certain club of “rich kids,” and push the doors open to bring out a blinding light (though no flower petals), and we get a shot of a new location. A computer set-up with a corner desk and three monitors, the center larger than the other, with a docking station for a small robot, a mat in the center for fighting practice (among other possibilities), and a lounge space as well, complete with a stocked kitchenette. There might be other features, but those’ll be revealed as needed.
“Ta-da!! Our dad put this together for us after making him our Secret Keeper. He feels better about us having a place to meet up at, and he assured us it won’t be on the surveillance system.” Amber explained, and watched Chloe lead Luka and Max over to the computer system, and Max letting Markov dock at the station.
“This is why you asked if I had a spare station for Markov?” Max asked, surprised, and Chloe rubbed nervously at the back of her neck, Luka peers at her and seems to decide something wrapping his arm around her shoulders in a half hug, one can notice the bandage still on said arm from where he was injured during Miracle Queen. Chloe seems to relax a bit.
“Yeah, I figured Markov can help with running some of the base when you’re here, make things easier for all of us, y’know?”
“This system is very integration friendly!” Markov beeped “My systems are running smoother than they ever do when docked!” Max seems pleased at Markov’s approval.
“Good, because you and I are gonna be doing a lot of work here, Robot.” Chloe responds cockily. “Now, has anyone got any updates from Mme Lenoir?”
Alya takes then to pipe up from her place fixing up a mug of something from the kitchenette, “Yeah, she called Marinette last night. She’s headed back to Versailles and…You know.” The mood turns somber for a moment. “So Fu’s going with her. She and Adrien are saying their goodbyes right now at the station. They should be back soon.”
Kagami nods, before pointing a finger at Kim, then Max, then Alix. “You three, with me on the mat. The three of you haven’t been active for long, and while most of you in general don’t have combat experience, that shouldn’t still be the case.”
“Oh c’mon!” Kim complains, dragging his feet as he steps onto the mat. “I’m on sports teams at school, I’ve got some training, can I be excused?”
“If you can get a point against me in a one on one, then you’re excused from practice.” Kagami states simply. “That goes for everyone once I'm done with these three. I’m the most combat trained person here by years alone….Here.” she rummages around in a crate near the training mat and pulls out a staff “We can use weapons if it makes you more comfortable.” She tosses him the staff and pulls her fencing rapier from her own bag of things. “Now come at me.” Kim shrugs before rushing forward, and, as expected, Kagami dodges and weaves under him and throws him to the ground.
“....what just happened?”
“Again.”
We watch in shadow for a mote of a moment longer as Kagami throws Kim around the ring. Focus being on Alya, Alix, Max, and Amber as they track the action. Alya takes a drink from her mug “Anyone else find it a little weird that Kagami wasn’t even in the Original six but she orders everyone around like she was always here?”
“She’s a natural leader I guess?” Amber offers. “I mean, I don’t like to take charge, neither does Nino,” Minor comedy cut to Nino on a couch pressed against a wall, he’s sitting upside down and chatting about something quietly with Wayzz. “You were always happiest running support and…” She gestures vaguely at Chloe whom is already uploading the digital copies of the grimoire onto the computer wayset. “Chloe’s.. Chloe.”
“Kagami also has experience in combat that, as she herself said, outweighs all of us.” Max adds, pushing up his glasses after sparing a glance at Markov, seeming to be chatting with Chloe about the upload. “I don’t know how long Adrien was fencing prior, but it’s entirely possible she still outweighs his training. All of us have learned in the midst of battle; she’s merely putting her training to use, giving her an edge we don’t.”
“Plus are you really gonna argue with THAT?” Alix gestures toward Kagami, she has Kim on the ground again, the rapier pointed at his neck. “Again. Actually WATCH my movements this time. TRY to counter them, don't just run into things.”
“I’m not!”
“Prove it.”
Amber humms and turns away from the spectacle, wandering over to the computer set up, The grimoire has been mostly uploaded now, and Chloe’s sitting with a notebook in her lap. She’s copying down the first page.
“Didn’t Fu translate this already?”
“He destroyed his notes before...everything. But Marinette’s pretty sure the code is partly magical, so if I can get a word into French I can probably decode it myself.”
“You, you don’t have to. Isn’t that kind of a leadership job?”
“Well I’m gonna be off the front lines for a bit anyway, since no doubt Scorpion is still pissed and will be gunning for me if I’m out in the field, so I may as well do something to keep contributing after that fiasco.”
Amber is about to say something else, but Kim’s loud ‘HA!’ interrupts them both and they turn to see he finally had Kagami on the ground, the tip of his staff pressed to her chest. “I TOLD YOU!”
“Will the enemy give you as many chances that I did? In the future Semmix told of, we were unprepared. I will not allow us to be unprepared again. Go again, Kim.” Clearly Kagami’s gonna make Kim into a goddamn warrior, Semmix’s story likely still ringing in her ears of those who died.
We cut out on Kim charging Kagami again, his shout of excretion turning into the whistle of the train. And sure enough, we see our heroes. Marianne has a satchel on her arm and is waiting at the doors. Sure enough she peers through the thinning crowd and spies a head of blonde hair, Adrien waving to her. And right behind him is Marinette guiding Fu by the arm. The four of them converge and Marianne takes Adrien’s hands in her own. “You’d better take good care of eachother, you hear me? I expect updates every Sunday and We’ll be here for tea at LEAST once a month, if not more.” She squeezes Adrien’s hand and he nods.
“Don’t worry Madame, The New Order is forever. We’re a family now and no one can say anything about it!” Adrien pumps a hand excitedly, surprisingly chipper, worryingly chipper.
Marianne nods and turns to Marinette, she’s looking off into the distance, and doesn’t seem to realize they’re there until Fu gently pats her arm. Marinette yelps and releases him from her guide. “Oh! S-Sorry... Uncle.”
“It’s quite alright Marinette.” His voice is polie, kind, but distant, the knowing tone he would address the others with is long gone. “I’ve been living with Sabine and Tom for a time, I understand how it will take some getting used to.” he walks up to Marianne and offers her his arm. “But even though I will be living with my darling, that doesn’t mean we’re any less family. My memory may not be what it used to be, but I know we were close in our time.”
Marinette looks away and seems to be holding something back for a beat. Before… “Can I have a hug?” Fu smiles kindly and opens his arms for Marinette. They hug, and Adrien without asking gets one from him too, and by that I mean after he parts from Marinette he drags Adrien down into one.
After Marinette pulls away Marianne gently leads her a few steps away. “I’ll keep him safe.” Marianne’s polite smile vanished, replaced by the steely gaze of a woman survived far too much. “Don’t you worry an ounce about us, Marinette. We’ll be fine, just focus on Paris and focus on your team.”
For a moment the strong facade slips and Marinette looks away, putting her hands atop of Marianne’s. “I… I don’t think we’re ready. We barely learned anything before everything went to hell and Fu wanted me to LEAD us! Lead a team with someone else I'm still answering to, sure, fine, easy. But… it’s just me and Adrien now. And he’s got a lot to deal with already. I don’t want to unload my bull on him! But I’m not… I’m not ready!”
“You’re ready.” Marianne responds with severity. “You’ve been Ladybug for two years now, and Fu trusted you with everything he had. You might not FEEL like you’re ready, but that’s just being an adult. I’m so sorry you have to find that out when you’re still a child, but acknowledging that you’re not ready makes you more of a grownup than those that believe they have everything figured out.” Now Marianne hugs Marinette. “You have all the weapons you need. Now fight.”
“You take good care of this girl. She’s very important.” Fu pats Adrien’s back. “Find your calm in the storm.”
Adrien pulls away, shock in his expression, but Fu doesn’t seem fully aware of what he’d just said as he placidly takes Marianne’s hand in his own. “As my darling said, we expect Sunday updates! And do come by to visit if you can find the time!”
The train whistled again, and they were gone. Marinette and Adrien are basically alone in the station.
“Well, Chloe’s been teasing this ‘something big’ ever since we sent word out to start considering secret keepers, you… wanna go see?” Adrien turns to Marinette and smiles. But we focus on Marinette a moment longer, shadows covering her eyes and head lowered.
“....Bugaboo?”
Marinette takes a deep breath through her nose, and we can see her face is a bit blotchy and she maybe still has tears at the corners of her eyes but she smiles, though it’s weaker than one would hope. “Yeah. Yeah let’s… let’s go see.”
Adrien hesitates for a moment, and, clearly trying to be comedic via the shit eating grin on his face, grabs Marinette’s hand and brings it up to kiss. “Lead the way Milady.”
Sure enough Marinette snorts out a surprised laugh and Adrien grins back before the two of them walk off.
As the train takes off we pan up to see a dark figure perched outside of the train’s station, unseen by the heroes and hiding in the shadows. Who else? He watches the train take off and growls. Unsheathing his dagger-spear. He looks about to cause a ruckus on the train but his expression tightens, he grits his teeth and looks away.
“‘And for those who leave shall leave in peace, with their memories gone and their threat removed the Order has no reason to hold animosity’” He mutters to himself “Curse these vows….” He looks away and notices the two children leaving the station. He huffs “I suppose all that remains are the fool’s children. That will have to suffice.” He upcaps the spear to bring up his screen.
His teeth grit when we flash back briefly, now seeing that moment from Miracle Queen through his perspective. The girl he’d thought easy to manipulate, the perfect little weapon of betrayal, standing before him as though she’d ruled the world. Miracle Queen tossing her hair over her shoulder “I played you like the cheap kazoo you are.” she taunts and the descent of magenta hornets cover his sight. He growls and angrily stabs at his contacts until he brings up an unknown number.
“When are you all due to arrive I will not be waiting here forever.”
“Calm down Tsering.” A bored voice responds. “You’re such a… ‘Drama Queen’ as the youth say.” the voice pauses and then one can hear the voice say again, distantly and thus not into the call “Do the youth say that?”
Another unrelated voice calls out “Can confirm, I am the youth.”
“Ugh…” He groans in borderline disgust. “If you lot aren’t here in the next hour I will not be leading you back to our current base of operations, you can find your way there yourself.”
“Wowwwwww You won’t help us due to a petty dumb thing that slightly inconvienced you? How shocking.”
“Zhao Kai I am not in the mood for your-” he’s overwhelmed by the sound of pigeons cooing. And turning sure enough came a gentleman of similar age to Tsering Wan, donned in a red and blue costume, a red and blue choker around his neck looking to be like a pair of wings.
“Oh? I’m sorry what was that? Not in the mood for my what?” The man, assumed to be this Zhao Kai, hops down from the cloud of birds. Right now we only see Zhao Kai, but the appearances of shadows on the other parts of the rooftop imply at least three other figures.
“Is that all so far?”
“The others want to ascertain whether we’re able to save any of these children from being mislead before we go straight into the ‘child murder is okay’ codes.” Zhao Kai responds. “And some of us cannot afford to leave our posts whatsoever to go chasing revenge quests. The only reason the others let YOU go was because we all knew there’d be no point in trying to stop you once you realized your nemesis had been hiding in Europe.”
Tsering Wan rolls his eyes and gestures for the lot of them to follow him. “Come along. Our hosts and A-Lian are awaiting our arrival.”
One of the group stops at the edge of the building, crouching down into a half-kneeling, half-sitting position, eyeing the streets. “Do you think we should do a bit of familiarizing before we get stuck indoors? We need covers like Master Tsering, don’t we?”
A man who sounds older than the youthful one shrugs “Probably, but you’re still close enough to teen years that you can just call yourself a transfer student, or that you’re going to university.”
“Little Brother is right.” The older man squawks in offense as a woman who seems to be his age chimes in “We do all have our usual cover stories for business, but if we can adapt them to make better sense of Paris, then we should do so. Remind me, who here has a valid teaching degree?”
“The Forty year old man you just called ‘Little Brother’.” The older man responds flatly. “I’m hardly the youngest anymore, why does nobody ever call Sun Min-”
“Because Sun Min knew how to take things seriously, Manabe.” The woman responds. “And it’s Languages right? Well then it's simple, we set up at a few different highschools and keep an eye out for these children...though first maybe we should… introduce ourselves.”
Tsering Wan folds his arms and rolls his eyes, though this time Zhao Kai seems just as exasperated. “They’re really growing overconfident in their abilities to lead aren’t they?”
“I swear they’re counting the days until we keel over and the second generation can decide among themselves who will be the next Great Guardian as if we haven’t been council decided for that exact reason since the war.”
Zhao Kai pauses for a moment “I’ll be the first if you don’t mind, young ones. I’m going to need a proper assessment of these children and their wielding of the stolen Miraculous. I trust our friend Tsering’s judgement of course, but no self respecting Scholar settles for second person perspectives when first person is available.” he pulls his weapon from his side, a whistle, and blows gently into the mouthpiece “Commune!” The flock of pigeons that had been just chilling earlier all come to attention and make a smokescreen of sorts around them, and in a flurry of feathers, the Old Order was gone.
But enough about them for now, we cut back to the people we actually care about. The heroes. We cut back to them by Kagami slamming Max into the ground, the two of them are fighting hand to hand and her forearm is pressed against his throat to pin him. “Again.”
“Is this really necessary?” Max chokes out “I fight long range.”
“That sort of idealism is what will ensure you get yourself killed. Again.”
We cut quickly to Luka fixing up two Coffees. Pouring barely any in one and filling the rest of the mug with cream and sugar, and the other he rummages through a small spice cabinet by smell to fix up.
“Leave some in the pot for me.” Alya pipes up, she’s already turned a blank wall into a new conspiracy board location, though now it’s a mockup of Agreste manor that's in the center, with possible locations to hide the Miracle Box scribbled about.
“Don’t give her any,” Nino quips from the couch, now hanging upside down by his knees, hanging over the back to stare at the kitchen space, “she’s already had three cu-EEP!”
A pillow may or may not have been thrown at him.
“It’s decaf anyway.” Chloe pipes up from her own spot, still puzzling over her notebook. Looking up and smiling in thanks when Luka hands her the creme and sugar mug “Caffeine overload gives me paranoia. That’s why Amber pours energy shots into hers.”
“I think she took most of the caffeine metabolizing in the womb.” Amber confirms, pouring herself a mug and pouring said energy shot into it instead of any flavoring. “How she can’t handle any but I need so much to be functional.”
There’s a knock on the door and sure enough Marinette and Adrien poke their heads in.
“WOAH WHAT THE HELL!?” Adrien shouts in surprise, darting about, personal mood instantly lifted as he looked about excitedly. “Is that a training mat? With WEAPONS CRATE?! And that fridge is HUGE! LOOK AT THAT COMPUTER CONSOLE-oh hey Chloe why are YOU in there I expected Max, THAT COUCH LOOKS SO COMFY NINO MOVE OVER”
Everyone’s a little drawn between shocked and amused at Adrien’s exuberance, Marinette however is more reserved as she enters, looking around with interest for only a moment before Alya zips up, hugging her tight. “How’d it go, Girl? You doing okay?”
“...I’ll be fine. Don’t worry about me.” She pulls away and smiles slightly at Alya, whom clearly doesn’t believe her. But Marinette turns on her heel and marches over to the training mat. “Hey Kagami! Can I get nexties? It’s been awhile since I’ve actually thrown down.”
Kagami raises a brow and looks between Marinette’s ‘everything is (not) fine’ expression, to Adrien’s forced looking hyperactivity. “...Sure.”
Adrien has taken up residency on the couch, leaning back deeply into the cushion as Nino readjusts to sit beside his friend. Wayzz looks over at Adrien in concern, but before the Kwami can say much of anything, Plagg and Fidde have grabbed him and ducked for the rafters. Tikki and Callid share a glance and zip upward as well, and sure enough hidden within the rafters is a little Kwami paradise, a little loft that looks to be stylized from a dollhouse, all plush cushions and nonperishable foods. Most of the Kwami were already here, enjoying the setup and chowing down (or causing havoc in Xippu’s case)
Wayzz speaks first “Plagg, Fidde, what’s going on? I understand that… The loss of...Master Fu…” Wayzz looks away, he didn’t even get to say goodbye after all. “-would be difficult for him and Marinette, but Adrien’s behavior is-”
“Basically rolled back to when he started yeah I know.” Plagg responds. “Look, the Kitten’s got a lot on his plate already, his Dad’s Hawkmoth, Which means his Aunt’s Paon, They’ve been letting Tsering Wan into their house, and in the future Semmix showed them he was kinda the reason the apocalypse happened. He mighta been able to handle all of that if Fu were still here, but he’s kinda between a rock and a hard place.”
“Our Pup has only ever known one way to cope and that is to pretend that all is fine.” Fidde summarizes “He understands the gravity of the situation, but is it really much of a stretch to allow him his habits assuming he continues to treat the current threats with the urgency they deserve?”
Wayzz humms nervously, little paw placed over his mouth as he thinks. “I… Suppose you’re right, but I will have to inform my charge of this. Should he begin to regress in battle as well Nino should be able to pull him from it.”
“Yeah I’d hope so. He nearly died earning me back. It'd really suck if this was what does him in.”
Meanwhile Longg has pulled Tikki and Callid aside for their own talk.
“How was the Master upon their departure?”
“Master Fu’s memory was erased entirely save a few scant memories of Marianne and Marinette. If the Old Order’s vows still hold firm he and Marianne should be safe in Versailles.” Callid confirms.
“Though, I worry about Marinette.” Tikki chimes in “She’s very distressed by this whole thing, she’s trying so hard not to be that it looks even more concerning.” When Tikki looks away it’s with a glare “She really did start to think of Master Fu as family, and now everything he’s taught her is for nothing!”
“Tikki, I understand you’re worried for your charge but please don’t grow to resent Master Fu for-”
“I’ll resent him all I want Longg! Marinette still needs guidance! Guidance that Callid and I can’t give and the only person she could trust to point her in the right direction took the coward’s way out!” Callid gasps, Longg looks surprised, and even Tikki’s eyes go wide and claps her paws over her mouth. “I… I didn’t mean-”
“You’ve grown to love your charge Tikki, you always do, it’s in your nature.” Longg responds after a beat. “But you can’t let your attachment to Marinette cloud your judgement. Our own Hopps portended his knowledge to be used against us, and that signified the end of time.” Hopps looks up from a little bed she was sitting in “Olly Olly Oxen free!” she chirps at her name being called. But Longg waves her off. “Marinette died young in that world, Tikki. You know this.” Tikki looks away, still a bit bitter.
“Still, if he had to do it the least he could have done was face them and tell them in person instead of putting it all in a letter. They all deserved better than that.”
“He did what he thought was right, and you know it. Besides, if anyone could handle things as they are, it’s your Ladybug. She’s a bright girl. A natural leader, and what's even more important, she’s under your care.”
“Oohhh! Are we gushing about how great Sugarcube is? Back off dragon You know I get first dibs!” Plagg of course overheard just enough and zips in to grab Tikki and nuzzle her close. But it seems to lift the mood among the Kwami and Tikki lets it happen, the two of them floating over to an unoccupied cushion.
“We’re just gonna have to keep a closer eye on our charges, Tikki.” Plagg speaks softly then, “You know, keep ‘em on the up and up, make sure they’re talking to people not just us, that’s why they’ve got Secret Keepers again, isn’t it?”
“I guess so.” Tikki nuzzles him back.
As we pan down from the Kwami Loft back to the main space, we see Marinette and Kagami in the midst of a spar that looks far more like a dance number than an actual fight, the two dodging and weaving around each other artfully and flawlessly. One trained in trial by fire, the other for years, but the two are somewhat balanced. And they have attracted a crowd of all the heroes, half of them cheering for Marinette, the other half for Kagami.
Chloe and Max, however, are at the computer corner, Max leaning on the back of the chair as Chloe shows off the tracking system she’s… borrowing. “It should alert us to at least some of the enemy attacks before they can get too out of control, if it works.”
Sure enough, one of the sensors pings, and the two look on with wide eyes at the sensor, then each other, before Chloe taps a button, and another of the features of the space, a wall with a larger screen on full display near the lounge space (perfect for alerts AND movie nights), lights up, attracting everyone’s attention. On the screen is an unfamiliar face, dressed in what looks like either an akuma transformation or a Miraculous costume, and surrounded by various animals. Some Zoo animals for show, he’s in the middle of the streets, bordered by the news station logo.
“If the Heroes of Paris,” he begins in a droning voice, “are receiving this, be it by the news or happenstance, I would like the chance to observe you up close. Don’t dally.” After making that statement, he takes a seat on a park bench, seeming relaxed and without much care to who he might be scaring off, the shot cuts back away to Nadja as she reports that the assumed Akuma shared no other information.
“Show of hands, who thinks this is a trap?” Alya deadpans, and sure enough, every hand in the room shoots up. “Yeah, good, our trap senses are still working as intended.”
“Okay who wants to pretend to fall for it and who should be ready as backup?” Adrien huffs and stands up, stretching as he gets to his feet.
Marinette of course, springs into action “Us Original Six should show up and the others should be waiting on standby. It’s likely he’s gonna be after the Elementals and the Yin Yang the most, so dangling us like a carrot on a stick will be the best way to ensure they think we’re falling for it.”
“I’m still setting up the system with Max, so I’m hanging back.” Chloe chimes in. “And it’s not like Amber and I can both use the Bee at once, and do we really want to deal with whoever this rando is, AND a possible Scorpion sighting if I join you guys?” sounds a bit overcompensate-y, huh?
“You’re right Chloe, without Fu he’s gonna cling to whatever pisses him off most and tempting fate by putting up someone who pulled a fast one on him would probably make everything go pear shaped.” Marinette agrees easily. “But we are gonna need Max to have Voyage ready in case we need to make a quick escape.” She pauses for a moment longer. “....Luka maybe you should hang back too, we should keep a few people close to the chest so they won’t know just how well we can all use our Miraculous.” She smiles slightly and Luka shares the grin. “So that leaves Kim, Max, and Kagami in the wings, Alix put your hand down you know you’re the final hail mary.” Alix grumbles and folds her arms.
“Alright everyone. Get ready. The Old Order is here and they need to see that we’re not going anywhere.”
“Transform me!”
As everyone departs to the scene, Alix stomps onto the training mat and moves her arms from a crossed position to prop her fisted hands against her hips. “Luka! Get over here and spar with me while Chloe finishes setting the computer up!”
Luka, whom was leaned over the computer watching Chloe set up the rest of the database with Markov, perks his head up and shrugs. “Alright, but I should warn you, Mom taught me to scrap but that was a while ago, outside of Viperion stuff I’m pretty out of practice.”
Alix grumbles but charges when he’s in a loose fighting stance. But we cut away before we see the end of that.
We cut back now to Zhao Kai, still with a flock of animals, still in the center of town, still obstructing traffic and unable to be moved no matter what the police do, one blow of his whistle and a hungry looking panther is staring them down.
He’s eating something from a paper bag and seems bored, a book is resting on his lap that he’s perusing through. But the sound of swinging and the clatter of footsteps draw his eye, He smiles slightly. “Ahhh, the heroes of Paris. The thief’s children. You look different than in your pictures.”
He stands and opens his arms “Welcome to the Menagerie! I am known as…” he looks to the side, tilts his head. “Well I suppose that doesn’t matter. But I do wield this little trinket.” he held a hand up and fiddled gently with the choker around his neck. “The Macaw. As you can see, I have command over animals. But it’s been some time, I’m afraid our records of some of your Miraculous have been lost! Care to enhance an old man’s study?”
And now we get a shot of that classic five and sure enough, new uniforms. How lucky that the banner already went live so you guys already know what they all look like!
Ladybug steps forward. “Macaw, Of the Order of Miraculous! We know why you and yours are here and I can assure you, that your grudge on Master Fu is over with! If the Scorpion hasn’t told you already, he left the order, and by your vows-”
“By our vows he is to be left in peace, yes yes I know.” Zhao Kai sighs and steps forward waving a hand dismissively “You’ll find little one that not all of us care so much about the thief. We’re here to reclaim what was stolen. Or in my case, to understand it.” he pulls out his whistle, letting it go fully so the chain spools out like Ladybug’s Yoyo. He begins to swing it. “So, Shall we dance Ladybug?”
Before she steps forwards Chat’s Staff gets between them. “Allow me.” His voice was teasing but when Ladybug looked up at him his face was severe. He is well fucking aware of the danger.
He gets ready and Zhao Kai shrugs before lashing out with the whistle and grappling it on the staff. The two tug of war briefly before Chat pulls back harsly and lets go, his staff rocketing forward and nearly nailing Zhao Kai in the face.
He zips up while the Macaw is distracted by dodging the staff and comes up close with his claws drawn out, The two swipe back and forth, Macaw noting aspects of his uniform and the functionality of his tail and claws with interest. Speaking of the tail, Chat quickly unclips his belt and uses it like a secondary weapon, wrapping it with the whistle wire to tangle them together in a heap. The fight now reduced to hand to hand. But unfortunately, experience does prosper, as Macaw begins to get ground on Chat. We get inside Adrien’s head for a moment, remembering Semmix’s words, the alternate future full of people who shouldn’t be involved in the fighting, all chuckling at the memory of Scorpion and claiming that he was a joke compared to the rest of the order. Luka getting stabbed in the arm and implying that Chloe died in multiple resets. His own overlayed memories of his quick time as Aspik.
“Cataclysm!” He reaches forward, ready to strike the Macaw square in the chest.
Macaw grabs his wrist and forces him to the ground, the stone cracking beneath them.
“You’ve got a lot of pent up rage. Be careful, my friend Tsering has the same problem and he’s really annoying.”
Chat Noir moves to stomp on the ground and sure enough the ground breaks beneath his foot, destabilizing the surrounding area. But just as Chat retrieves his staff and hops over to solid ground to hopefully bury Macaw in the rubble, he retrieves his whistle and with a careful ‘tweet’ a flock of pigeons swarm him and carry him to stable ground as well.
“Very informative, Black Cat! Thank you for the demonstration. Anyone else?” He almost seems sincere, just a massive fucking nerd about to break out a notebook and write down his next thesis.
Rena Rouge and Carapace both glance at each other before nodding, the both of them going at him at once, though Chat looks about ready for round two and had to be held back by Bellflower.
The two of them fare a bit better as being a double header would at least mean that's two sets of hands that Macaw has to dodge. But unfortunately he manages. “Okay, we’ve lost most of our records on the Turtle, is it true that the shell is impenetrable even without calling up Shelter?”
“Maybe you should see!” Carapace fires back, throwing out the shield as he got far enough away for that classic Captain America move. Macaw jumps over it to dodge, but does throw his whistle down to knock it away.
“Fascinating!”
“Can you stop treating this like it’s some kinda weird science experiment?!” Rena shouts “It’s REALLY uncomfortable.”
“Terribly sorry Miss Fox, but I cannot contain my curiosity! Now is it true that your Mirage can take corporeal form?”
“Well I’m not showing you!”
“I never said show me. I was merely asking a question, you could just as easily answer with a yes or no.”
Rena stops and looks back at Ladybug “Can we all just kick this guys ass at once? I don’t like being looked at like an observable phenomena.”
Ladybug glared at Macaw and huffed “Fine. But I get the feeling that that’s what he wants. Team Miraculous!”
The others all act at once, and Macaw seems to be finally interested beyond study. He’s slippery and it’s difficult to land a hit on him, but he seems to truly enjoy the thrill of the fight. “How thrilling! It’s been awhile since i’ve been able to stretch my legs like this!” But he chuckles and finally shrugs. “Though I grow bored with this.” He blows a shrill note on the whistle. “I NEED BACKUP OVER HERE!”
Something whizzes through the air with a shout of “Liberation!” and it hits him in the back. Followed up with “I free you from this unfair fight!”
“I don’t like the sound of that.” Bellflower deadpanned.
A blast of grey-blue light charges forward starting from the place on Macaw’s back that was hit and forms a dome around him, physically throwing back his opponents until a fair circumference was between them.
“This was fun, however I’m done collecting data for now. We shall reconvene at a later date.”
“Is he…” Rena starts.
“...Allowed to do that?” Carapace finishes, and both look over at Ladybug.
Ladybug looks at the grey-blue dome, rapping her knuckle against it, testing the strength, before sighing, flipping the yoyo into communicator form. “Pegasus, pick us up. He was only here to toy with us, we’re ready to head back now, and I don’t want him to watch the direction we leave in.”
“Fair enough, superhero taxi service at your earliest convenience.” Pegasus’s voice was deadpan, but Voyage did indeed open up for them.
We cut back to the base, now seeing that Chloe is sparing with Luka as Alix jeers from the computer chair and throwing popcorn at them. Markov beeps and rises “Data uplink complete! Looks like we’re all set!”
“Ah! Nice.” Alix humms before throwing another piece of popcorn at the two “Go for the ponytail! She’s got a perfectly accessible head handlebar and you’re not using it!”
“Alix this is a friendly spar.” Luka chides, but Chloe it seems is unafraid of playing dirty as he quickly capitalizes on the distraction and uses Luka’s weight against him to pin him down. “Hah!”
“And that’s Luka three Chloe four. You guys are evenly shit at fighting.” Alix announces, but soon enough the entryway opens and in stumbles the rest of the gaggle of heroes, some looking tired, others confused, and in Kagami’s case, aggravated.
“Tough fight?” Alix wonders aloud.
“Confusing fight.” Kim responds first. “He was just like… studying everyone.”
“It was disgusting he was treating us like we were his latest dissection subject.” Alya shudders “kept saying things like ‘fascinating’.” Marinette humms and walks over to the couch and sits down, legs crossed, she seems deep in thought.
Adrien looks over at Marinette, reaches out, that more familiar slightly worried expression on his face (now that someone can’t see it), before he looks away and huffs. “Hey Kagami, can I talk to you real quick?” He gestured toward the hallway outside of the main room for some privacy. Kagami furrows her brow but follows him out of the room.
“I know that face, Marinette that’s the ‘i’m overthinking and catastrophizing’ face, what’s going on in that head of yours?” Alya crouches down fully so that she’s on eye level with Marinette “Are you freaking out because he was being creepy? We know all the Old Order goons are creepy! Don’t freak out about it.”
“How do we know that? We’ve only met two, three if you count the one that showed up briefly, but we didn’t stick around to meet the Wolf.” Marinette offers. “Are they all going to be as old as Master Fu was? How are they even still fighting so easily when-” She cuts herself off sharply, and looks down at her lap.
Alya shares a knowing glance with Marinette and sits beside her now, putting a hand on her back. “I get it, Girl. It’s a lot to think about. But we’ll be okay. We’ve managed this whole time before and there’s more of us now than there ever were. You know, I never thought when you made me your Secret Keeper that things would go this far, but hey!” she shifts her grip to pull Marinette into a half hug. “Look at where we are now! Our team is HUGE! And you’re our fearless leader! Well.. you and Adrien but he’s being.. Weird.”
We get a quick shot of the half closed door into the hall of Adrien and Kagami speaking, we can’t hear their words, but Adrien looks far more vulnerable than he has all episode, and Kagami’s got a hand on his upper arm.
“We’ve got this.” Alya states. And when Marinette looks up, her gaze sweeps over the group, Chloe going against Alix on the training mat, Max and Markov checking out the computers properly, Kim ‘teaching Amber to dance’ (Re: grabbing her hands and pulling her along) as Luka plays guitar for them. Nino half covered in wires trying to set up a gaming console, and of course Adrien and Kagami walk back in, Adrien now loudly declaring he’s playing firsties with Nino. Kagami glances over to them and approaches.
“Everything alright?”
“I don’t think so.” Marinette notes softly “But.. it will be.”
But unfortunately this isn't where we end it. No, we shift back to the mansion.
Zhao Kai stretches his arms above his head as he and the ‘Manabe’ from before enter. “So that was a fun first excursion, but I’m afraid we might have missed the introductions.”
“You didn’t.” The young man from before pipes up, “They’re not done healing yet.”
But sure enough, just as the old man and middle aged man detransform, Wu Lian steps out from the Agreste office, a pair of slightly tired yet otherwise unharmed supervillains in her wake. “Alright, your life forces should build back up on their own, just don’t do too much strenuous activity and you’ll be fine-ah! Zhao Kai! You made it! And you brought the runts!” Zhao Kai strides up and pats Wu Lian’s shoulders.
“Ah! A-Lian wonderful to see-!” he’s cut off by Wu Lian smacking him upside the head
“Am I your junior?! I think not Zhao Kai! You will not call me by such diminutives!”
And now the lot of them are in one room. Nathalie and Gabriel look around at the unfamiliar faces before them.
“Forgive me for letting them all in without permission, but I felt my family could not wait.” Tsering Wan speaks finally, coming out of the shadows. “Please, allow me to introduce. Zhao Kai, Our top Scholar in the Order. Hoàng Tuyến, his top disciple, My own former student Manabe Izumi, and his charge Sun Min.” One by one we get a close up on the lot of them. Hoàng Tuyến is a severe looking woman and was apparently the one who was teasing Manabe relentlessly on first appearance. Manabe is a gentle looking man with Dad Energy. And Sun Min looks no older than about nineteen, still sparkly eyed with the hope of youth.
“Family, these are our new allies. Gabriel Agreste and Nathalie Sancour.” he clearly brushes over Gabriel in favor of putting a hand on Nathalie’s shoulder, a sort of significant glance shot out to his family.
“Pleasure to meet you.” “Wonderful to make your acquaintance.” “Charmed.” “Hi there!”
“So, Zhao Kai, you were the first to face these children, pray tell what you’ve gleaned from your fight?” Zhao Kai humms and digs around in his pockets at the question.
“Hmmm where’d I put the damn thing… ah! Here we are!” He pulls out a slip of paper with five seals along the length, color coded splotches of light above every seal “Magical fingerprints of the Yin-Yang Miraculous and the stolen elementals. It was almost too easy to bait them into a fight! They’re so used to everyone being raring to go they’re on a hair trigger! So thanks Tsering couldn’t have done it without you.” Tsering’s expression flattens.
“What can you glean from them.”
“Oh lots of stuff, strengths and weaknesses, natures of Miraculous we don’t have files for, if I’m lucky we may run unto one of them in civilian form and find out their identity if they leave a magical imprint, that sort of thing. Oh. And I can finally decipher the last of those old manuscripts, the ones from before the war!” he smiles slightly at the lot of them “They’ve already helped quite a lot.”
Tsering Wan grins. “Well, what would you expect from the heroes of Paris? So helpful. Now, let’s see if they can ‘help’ us even more.”

The Wavering Peahen: Chapter 4
When Nathalie started feeling oddly ill again, both she and Gabriel were worried that the Peacock Miraculous might somehow (impossibly) be to blame again.
So naturally, they pick someone else to be the Peacock for a bit. You know, as a test subject. Except the new Peacock… doesn’t exactly know that.

Two more battles passed with Pavona's role reduced to the sidelines only, her only contribution to the battles being her amok. The restriction still chafed at her, of course, but since her cold had only gotten worse Lila had to admit that maybe it was a good thing that Hawkmoth wasn't expecting her out. She felt absolutely drained and exhausted by the time she detransformed after each battle, and it was only because she was fantastic with make-up that she managed to hide how terrible she felt from her mom and everyone at school.
Normally she wouldn't hesitate to jump on the opportunity to get even more sympathy and help, but who knew who Hawkmoth was? He could be anyone and have eyes anywhere, and she couldn't risk her poorly-timed illness getting back to him. A minor cold was one thing, but this whatever-it-was was out of hand. That didn't mean that she was an invalid or something- she could still participate via her amok, obviously, since that was the only way that she had been participating for the last several fights- but he might decide that her judgement would be impaired by her being sick or something ridiculous like that and take away the Peacock.
At this point, Lila was scrambling just to keep the Peacock in her hands at all. Having some power was better than none at all, especially when it came to Ladybug and trying to defeat her.
(At this point, Lila had to see Ladybug defeated. Her blood boiled more and more every time she saw the stupid bug- how dare she be so smug about beating the akumas and sentimonsters? She should be- what, Lila didn't know for sure, but every time she and Chat Noir defeated the supervillain's monsters, Ladybug had this stupid little smirk on her face and Lila just wanted to wipe it off.)
Still, even with Pavona operating from the sidelines, Hawkmoth hadn't been happy with her. He had snarked about how bad he thought her amoks were- as though he had a leg to stand on, considering some of his akumas in the past!- and acted as though they were super-weak, even though he and his akuma were definitely hiding behind her amoks and making them do all of the hard work. If Lila hadn't been worried about losing her Miraculous before, she definitely was now.
And then Hawkmoth showed up at her window again, late at night, and Lila's heart dropped straight into her stomach.
No! No, she hadn't gotten enough of a chance to prove herself! She hadn't gotten to really fight Ladybug and get under the superheroes' skin. She just needed a little longer, another week or two and some advice to get back on track so that she could be a strong partner for Hawkmoth. It wasn't- it wasn't like she was actually incompetent!
Hawkmoth rapped at the window again, looking less than impressed with the delay. Lila startled out of her thoughts, then scrambled to go get the window and let him in. She didn't have much of a choice, really.
If this was the end of her time as Pavona, hopefully- hopefully- Hawkmoth would at least keep akumatizing her so that she could have more chances to defeat Ladybug. Hopefully she hadn't screwed things up so badly that he was going to decide that he wasn't even going to have her as an akuma anymore.
"Good evening," Hawkmoth said stiffly once he had crawled through the window and straightened up inside of her room. His eyes flashed to her neck, where the Peacock pinned to her shirt. She had had it under a scarf earlier- thankfully her cold made for an easy excuse as to why she had suddenly started wearing scarves- but it was annoying to wear scarves for longer than strictly necessary and she had taken it off as soon as she went to her room for the night. "I trust you are well?"
"I- yes, thanks," Lila managed, vaguely puzzled by the inquiry. Hawkmoth had never asked after her before. She was there to be a tool and a help, not to be coddled and watched after. "A-and yourself?"
"Good." Hawkmoth glanced around her room, then back at Lila. "I came to give you an update. I'll be out of the city soon, starting this upcoming Saturday and extending for at least a week. It's unfortunate, but unavoidable. I figured that I should probably let you know so that you wouldn't wonder why there weren't any akumas, and to let you know that you are not, under any circumstances, to try to battle the superheroes during that time. And that includes sending out amoks." He fixed her with a long look. "And I will have a very close eye on the news, so I will know if you disobey orders. And if you do..."
The silence hung in the air, threatening and ominous. Lila quashed the urge to gulp and glance towards her door, towards the room where here mom was sleeping.
"I won't try to fight them," Lila said hastily. "I promise."
"Good. We both know that it would end in disaster anyway." Hawkmoth's voice was curt, clearly not about to waste time sparing her feelings. Lila thought that that was rather unfair, really- disaster was such a strong word- but she would probably feel a bit on edge without the assurance of both Hawkmoth and one of his akumas. "I hope to send out a couple more akumas before I leave. With any luck, one of them will be successful."
Lila nodded, refraining from saying anything. Luck didn't exactly seem to be the supervillains' thing, but maybe they had been wearing down the superheroes more than they realized and a strong sentimonster and akuma combo would finish them off.
A supervillain could only hope.
"Anyway, that's all I came about," Hawkmoth added when Lila didn't say anything. "Continue to stay out of battles but be ready with a sentimonster, that's all I ask."
Lila nodded again, feeling like a bobblehead doll. "Of course. I can manage that."
"I should hope so. I'm hardly asking for a miracle." Hawkmoth sneered at that, then headed out the window. Lila stayed where she was for a minute before hurrying to close the window and lock it, pulling her blinds shut so that Hawkmoth couldn't spy on her.
And then she rolled her eyes. Seriously, that was all Hawkmoth had to say to his partner? He could have given her tips to help her improve her skills as Pavona for her to work on while he was gone, or ideas that he wanted her to implement! She might not listen to all of them- after all, he had been failing for a lot longer than she had- but it would be useful information to know, at least, and then she could come up with her own ideas based off of his.
It was like he wasn't actually interested in improving her abilities as Pavona before Mayura took the Peacock back over again. Like he wasn't actually interested in winning.
(Or like he had given her up as largely a lost cause, but Lila wasn't going to think that way. No, the entire problem laid with him, not her.)
Still, she wasn't about to lay down and let Hawkmoth's incompetence spoil her opportunity. Lila could practice fighting while Hawkmoth was gone- not with an opponent, of course, just by herself, that would have to be enough- and then maybe she would be good enough to rejoin him on the front lines and try to kick Ladybug's butt again. She could make her excuses with her mom and head out after dinner- not that she really needed excuses, as if her mom would ever stop her from going out- and then do a bit of jumping around and kicking in the relative privacy of some abandoned warehouses or something. There were bound to be a few around Paris, right?
...maybe she would just practice in her own room after school or something. Actually searching out warehouses and walking over to them sounded like too much work. Maybe the neighbors downstairs would complain, but really, who cared?
(And if they said something to her mom, then Lila would just say that she had take-home exercises for gym that she had to do to help catch back up to where they were meant to be after the school was closed for so long, or maybe she could say that she still felt very behind the other students after transferring and so was trying to get in the same kind of shape that they were in. Her mom would eat up either excuse, Lila was positive, and ta-da, problem solved.)
Maybe Paris was going to get a week off from akuma attacks, but Lila wasn't going to let the week go to waste. She was going to train, and prepare, and-
Lila's thoughts got cut off by a round of painful coughing, her throat pulsing in pain with every cough. She grimaced, reaching for her water bottle in an attempt to sooth the ache.
Well. She would train and prepare and all that, as long as this stupid cold went away.
Three days into her akuma- and Hawkmoth-free week, Lila decided that really, hand-to-hand combat was overrated.
After looking at more than a few at-home training videos, it became very obvious that getting to a level where she would actually be able to hold her own in any sort of fight would take a lot of time (and effort, which- ugh. No, thanks). It would be impossible to put in that sort of work and make any sort of meaningful progress before Mayura reclaimed her Miraculous, or at least Lila assumed so. She hadn't exactly been told when that might happen, but Hawkmoth had made it clear from the start that this wasn't going to be a long-term thing.
Besides, Hawkmoth had made it clear during their final fight before their break that she wasn't going to be returning to the front lines as Pavona anytime soon, not even on a trial basis. So Lila abandoned that idea.
(The attempts at exercise were also wiping her out in- in minutes, really. Sometimes even only a minute of moving fast was making Lila struggle to catch her breath. It was starting to get a bit concerning.)
That didn't mean that Lila wasn't going to do anything with the Miraculous while Hawkmoth was gone. No, she wasn't going to put up with Duusu in return for nothing. Even if she wasn't allowed to send out amoks to fight Ladybug and Chat Noir, there was so much more that she could do with the Peacock. It hadn't occurred to Lila before, but the amoks could look like anything- or, more importantly, like anyone.
Maybe Marinette had finally shut up with trying to call out Lila's lies for the time being, but it never hurt to have some evidence on her side. She didn't have to be transformed for her sentimonster to stick around- she had learned that after several battles- so she could put up some poster backgrounds, make some sentimonsters that looked like the celebrities that she had claimed close connections with, and ta-da, she would have bought herself a good year's worth of no questioning of her stories. Maybe she could even sneak into the school over the weekend with a Marinette-sentimonster and take photos of it breaking into Lila's locker or otherwise acting absolutely terrible. That should be enough to get even Adrien to abandon Marinette's side, which. Well.
If she couldn't get her revenge on Ladybug while she was Pavona- as much as Lila hated to admit it, that was looking increasingly unlikely that they would defeat the superheroes any time soon- then at least Lila could get some revenge on Marinette for being such a pain in the butt.
Lila smirked to herself. That was such a good idea, and she was glad that she had come up with it. She would have to brainstorm more to hammer out the details of what she would make "Marinette" do- maybe stealing from Lila's locker and then cornering Lila in the bathroom and yelling at her?- but it was definitely something that she had to do while Hawkmoth was away.
Things were really looking up, pieces the puzzle falling into place. And after feeling so crummy for the past several weeks, it was about time things went her way. With a little luck, the ugh feeling from her cold would leave soon, and then everything would be perfect in Lila's world.
Or maybe not perfect, since of course Ladybug would still be out and insufferably smug, but close enough.
The photos, Lila decided after a bit of thought, could wait until Saturday. Her mom was going to be gone all day, so Lila would have all morning to do her transformations, and she would have the rest of the week for her to gather up her posters and other props so that her pictures would turn out perfectly. And- making it even more perfect- the class had been talking about getting together for a group picnic in the park on Saturday afternoon, so Lila could show off her photos right away. She could scope out the school, too, and figure out how she could get into the building on Sunday with her senti-Marinette without being noticed.
Once school let out on Thursday evening, Lila patted her pocket to make sure that she had her wallet and detoured off of her path home, towards the bus stop to head across the city to a poster store she had been to before. Her wallet was going to take a hit from the stop- posters weren't cheap, which was annoying since really, anyone could point a camera and print a picture out- but her mom had given her more money on top of her allowance to buy hot drinks for her throat all week and she hadn't spent it because her classmates were bringing her hot tea, so at least she had gotten a bit extra to spend.
"Ooh, are you getting decorations for your room?" Duusu asked eagerly from her collar as Lila stepped inside the shop thirty minutes later, fully fed up with Paris traffic. "There's some pretty ones! Do you even have space on you walls? Or you could rotate stuff, maybe-"
Lila tried and failed not to sigh as she did her best to tune out her kwami. Honestly, as much as she didn't want to give up her powers, she really couldn't wait to be rid of Duusu. Clueless and naive were both excellent ways to describe the peacock kwami, and it was pretty irritating to deal with.
Seriously, after being with a supervillain for who-knew-how-long and then with Lila for several weeks, one would think that Duusu would actually get used to a less-than-honest way of thinking. Sure, it might also be annoying to have Duusu judging her outright all the time, but the idiocy...
Gritting her teeth, Lila prowled down the aisle that was most likely to have the posters she was looking for. Honestly, the idiocy was worse. Then she had to decide if she wanted to even try to explain- which sounded annoyingly like justifying herself, which she didn't have to do- or just ignore Duusu's increasingly bewildered and off-base questions.
"Ooh! What about this one? It's a lovely flower field!"
Lila spared the flower field poster a glance before continuing to scour the shelves for the scenes she wanted. There were a couple specific city streets that would work perfectly, and then maybe some generic backstage scenes. If she could find some that were set inside a mansion or a palace then she could do some poses with sentimonster royalty. Since no one in her class had seen the inside of Prince Ali's castle or Buckingham Palace, it wouldn't matter if she couldn't get posters of the insides of those places.
Thankfully, the shop was well-stocked. Lila found everything she needed- she was going to get to take a lot of pictures, her evidence was going to mean that people's trust in her would be absolutely unshakeable- and checked out, trying not to grimace as the price tag mounted up.
She would just take the pictures and then return the posters, but apparently the store had a no-return policy when it came to getting a bunch of posters and then trying to bring them all back. It was annoying, but if she had to pay to keep her lies in place, then she would. It was worth it.
(Besides, she could always sell the posters online or something once she was done with them. It wouldn't be all of her money back, but it would be some, and that was better than nothing.)
Lila tucked her posters deep in the bag that the shop provided- she didn't want to risk anyone she knew seeing her with the posters, and they were all too big for her school bag, even all rolled up in the poster tubes- and headed out, eager to get home. While she didn't exactly need to rush back to her apartment to work on homework- several of her classmates had been 'helping' her by sending her either the answers or pictures of most of the work required for the problems, so several hours of homework ended up taking about half an hour instead, just copying things over and scanning whatever reading Ms. Bustier had assigned- Lila didn't exactly feel like dealing with Paris rush hour.
Besides, the longer she was out with her posters, the higher the chance that someone would see her. Maybe most of the class wouldn't think anything of it- Lila could always lie and say that she was getting the posters for her mom, showing places that she had worked, since it wasn't like the outside of the tubes showed the pictures- but she preferred to not have any trails at all, in case that brat Marinette tried to claim that she was in front of posters and that was how she got the pictures. If one of the classmates saw her now and then heard that then...
Well, she was no Max, but Lila figured that the chances were at least 9/10 that they wouldn't think anything of it. But she didn't want to risk anything.
Not when she was so close to cementing her reputation for good.
Lila set up her room on Saturday as soon as her mom left for work, sacrificing her weekend lie-in. The posters came out and got unrolled, and Lila tacked them up around her room, one after the other. She set up some lamps to mimic the light sources in the photos- something she had learned to do after one of Marinette's none-too-subtle comments about the shadows not matching up during one of her video calls- and then set out changes of outfits for between pictures. She had spent the previous evening coming up with poses and figuring out what clothes she should wear with what setting and which celebrity, so all she had to do was follow her checklist- complete with reference photos- and it should go smooth as butter.
(She also had a bowl heaped with fruit for Duusu set out and ready, to recharge her kwami in between goes. Once she got going, she wasn't going to stop for anything, and that included her kwami's annoying appetite.)
Duusu had watched the entire proceedings with his head tilted to the side, the picture of confusion. He had been incessantly asking questions at the start, but finally- finally- fell silent when Lila snapped at him to shut up already. She didn't need his input, as absolutely useless as it was. All she needed was his powers.
"Duusu, transform me!"
Blue light flashed and Pavona smirked from her spot in the middle of the room. She hadn't transformed all week, and the feeling was even more amazing than she had remembered. She was powerful, she was fearless, she was invincible. Her confidence in her plans- well, obviously they were foolproof, and she was a genius for coming up with them.
It was pretty obvious that being sick had been muting how incredible transforming felt, or maybe she had just been feeling so miserable that she hadn't been able to truly appreciate it.
(Pavona coughed a few times seconds later, then scowled. Seriously, couldn't her cold be over yet?)
"All right, let's make a Jagged Stone!" Pavona announced to no one in particular, grabbing a button off of her bed. She had grabbed them from her mom's emergency sewing kit that morning, in case she couldn't recall the amoks once she was done with the sentimonster (after all, before now, they had all been purified by Ladybug) and had to simply smash the possessed item. With a grin, Pavona called up her power and the first sentimonster bubbled to life.
It was a perfect replica of Jagged Stone, though the eyes were perhaps a little blank. That was fine, though- the rock star was a little on the strange side anyway, a bit spacy and distractible. If he didn't seem 100% there and people could see that in the pictures at all, they would probably assume that he was just thinking about a new song that had popped into his mind or something.
"Detransform me," Pavona ordered as she strode forward, snagging senti-Jagged as she passed him and dragging him along with her. "Come on, we're taking some photos!"
"Pho-to," senti-Jagged said slowly, stumbling after her. Clearly it wasn't smart like an actual human, but that didn't matter. All she needed was his face. Lila shoved it into position, maneuvering its arms and face into a happy pose before hitting the timer button on the camera that she had set up and taking her position next to senti-Jagged.
"Look at the camera!" Lila demanded, pointing at the camera. She glanced to the side- good, it was listening, or maybe it was just coincidence- and then leaned close and beamed at the camera. One click, two, three photos, and then she could relax. "Okay, now a selfie!"
Click, click. Click, click. Lila snapped the photos, one after another, then looked through them. There were a few that just looked a touch unnatural, but the rest were fine.
"Okay, we're done," Lila told senti-Jagged. "You're dismissed."
It didn't move. It hadn't understood.
Of course it hadn't understood, that was dumb for her to even think for a moment that it might. Senti-Jagged was as dumb as bricks. Besides, telling it to vanish obviously wasn't going to work. She had to use her powers to recall the feather somehow, unless she just wanted to stomp on the button.
She transformed, and then Pavona looked towards senti-Jagged again. She didn't have any more of an idea of what to do to recall the amok then she had had the first time, so she just stomped on the button and snagged the feather out of the air. Senti-Jagged let out a surprised shriek as it dissolved, but Pavona ignored it in favor of getting another feather out and ready.
Prince Ali was going to be next, Pavona had decided. Then it would be Clara Nightingale next, followed by Ladybug, then a couple other celebs that she had claimed connections with. One after the other, no problem at all.
Was it going to be a lot of work? Maybe. But it was well worth it. And with every new character she made, they seemed to have more life to them. There was more of a spark in their eyes, they understood French- to some degree, at least- and their poses came completely naturally, and she had even been able to take a few short videos. That was pretty nice, but it did mean that they seemed to recognize that they were going to stop existing before she stomped on their button and begged her not to make them go. That was a bit annoying, but it wasn't about to deter her at all. Their pleas fell on deaf ears as Pavona wiped them out of existence and reclaimed their feathers.
She didn't have time to cater to their whines or try to explain to them why they couldn't stay, nor did she want to even bother with it. It was a waste of time.
After all, they were gone now. Why bother caring about their feelings? They were a tool, not a living being.
"And done," Pavona said happily once she had reclaimed the last of her feathers. She was feeling pretty drained and tired now, but that was hardly a surprise. She had gotten up earlier than she normally would on a Saturday to get everything ready, and then she had been going full-tilt ever since. She would have to keep working, honestly- she had to go through the photos and pick out which were natural enough to keep- but the transforming and set-up and staging was all finished. "Detransform me."
Duusu spiraled free of the brooch, making a beeline for the remaining bit of fruit left in the bowl. Lila barely spared him a glance as she headed for her computer, eager to dive right in and see what she had. Another coughing fit gave her momentary pause, but Lila wasn't about to let that deter her for long.
Some photos had to be cropped to hide the exposed edges of posters because she hadn't quite gotten the camera angle right, but that wasn't much of a problem. Others she cropped just to change things up and make the photos not quite so similar. The videos turned out to be useless, unfortunately- listening to them back, it was very obvious that there was outside noise from the street and from the neighbors above her- so they had to be benched until she could figure out how to edit that out. Or, more likely, until she had time to transform again and re-do those clips, hopefully while Bigfoot upstairs was out instead of stomping around.
For now, Lila had to get going or else she was going to be late meeting with the rest of the class.
As soon as her photos were loaded onto her phone, Lila snatched it up and stuffed it in her pocket, pushing herself to her feet and heading for the door with a spring in her step. She knew for a fact that Marinette was going to be there, so with any luck the photos would be enough to thoroughly ruin her day. Maybe they would be enough to start the process of ruining her friendships, too, since Marinette was hardly going to start believing Lila even with the photos and that would make her look pretty bad in her friends' eyes. That was going to be great-
Lila's progress was brought to an abrupt halt by a hacking cough before she reached the apartment door and she was forced to pause and lean heavily against the wall as a wave of lightheaded dizziness passed over her.
Ugh. How was it that her cold was coming back, but worse? She hadn't gotten any dizzy fits since the previous weekend, and certainly none as bad as that. Lila grimaced as the wave of dizziness and nausea passed, then pushed herself back up straight.
It didn't matter. Lila had her fabricated evidence in hand, and she wasn't about to let something as inconsequential as germs stop her.
