WIP WEDNESDAY

“I wish I could have met nonna,” Isabel says softly, the two of their children having been told many stories of how wonderful a lady Gwyneth Morgan was. “Me too,” Elias declares, hands on his hips.

“God, she couldn’t wait to be a grandma. Right after papa and I got married she was asking when we would have kids, which was a sensitive subject at first because we hadn’t made a decision on whether we wanted any or not. I wish she was here to see me now, with two of the most spectacular children on the planet. I’m so lucky,” there is emotion tied in TK’s voice as he talks of his mother.

“We both are,” Carlos says, looking at the three people around him with what his children would call ‘heart eyes’. He feels so grateful to have them, and he hopes they feel the same about him, and if they don’t, he will work damn hard to make them feel that way.

Honestly, it's hard for me to get excited about this or even the possibility of a Texas Ranger Carlos spin-off from 911 Lone Star

For one thing, while S8 is off to an amazing start, similar arguments could be made for S7 up to this point (compared to previous seasons). There are also some leftover flaws from last season that have yet to be fixed.

But more than that, the fact that Lone Star is ending when it has been literally getting better every season. Even only five episodes in, S5 is arguably the best of them all, and the only argument is we're missing Grace.

Even if the Carlos spin-off happens, we might get TK but maybe not much and probably not in every episode, and we might never see the rest of the 126 ever again. I love Tarlos but I also love Paul, Nancy, Mateo, Marjan, Judd and especially Tommy (Grace too of course). I would rather see their stories continued than try to get interested in either of these new shows.

SEVEN SENTENCE SUNDAY

“It’s a good thing! I’m happy that you two are getting back together.”

“Uh, no– we are not. It’s uhm..” Carlos searches his brain to somehow explain to his father in law – if he can even call him that – that his and TK’s newly developed relationship is strictly sex and only sex. “Oh?”

“We just.. aren’t dating. We uh..” Carlos tries to explain with his hands, and ends up doing something that looks like it belongs in a cheesy porno.

I've said it before and I'll said it again, it really hope this isn't the "kids conversation" because God, I hate that media trope.

I know it's too early, and I can see Buck totally acknowledging that fact but adding "if this is gonna be a deal breaker it's better to know now before we're in too deep" and Tommy just says "I think it's a little late for that."

I know there is controversy but also a lot of speculation over if Tarlos get Jonah or it leads them to want kids eventually somewhere down the road, but with what has been HEAVILY implied with them ending up with Jonah.

Watching the scene with them bickering over wrapping paper and lying about their whereabouts, all I could think was "Oh my God, they are going to be someone's parents and TK thinks he can hide a guitar with wrapping paper and Carlos thinks he can manifest wrapping paper out of his sight" they're so stupid and I love them so much.

yeahhh like I would’ve been fine with them having kids or not if it’s done right, and I’m always happy with the way heavy storylines are handled so I’m not too worried about it.

the thought of them being absolute disaster for Jonah’s or whatever kids first birthday with them makes me giggle. like they would try so hard, but one of them would pick up the wrong cake and they would be wrapping presents in their room when kid walks in and they’re scrambling to hide everything. thinking about them being a team in that sense makes me 🥹🥹🥹

WIP WEDNESDAY

The detective lays his hand down onto TK’s lap, unknowingly right on his dick. TK’s movements stutter, almost dropping the bowl of soup right onto Carlos. “Sorry,” he whispers, guilt creeping in as he moves his hand away, now resting it on TK’s knee.

TK laughs quietly, shaking his head. “It’s okay, I’m used to it.” Carlos raises an eyebrow, “to somebody groping you without consent?”

“No, Carlos. To you being grabby when you're sick. You’re 15 times hornier when you’re not feeling well,” he smiles, raising another spoonful to Carlos’ lips. Carlos accepts the bite of food, swallowing before he replies. “Not true! That was an accident!”

911: Lone Star 5x07 First Looks

Wherever the show goes with the prospect of Tarlos having kids, I'm personally neutral either way.

What I would really like to see is a conversation about why Carlos doesn’t want kids. He said that he "doesn't think he's there yet, or ever will be" which gives us a lot of room to really unpack where these feelings are comining from, and I could think of a couple reasons for it.

Carlos never really allowed himself to think about think about those big milestones in life. Falling in love with a boy, marrying him, starting a family, etc For the longest time he had assumed he would have to compromise on everything, so it's understandable that this isn't something he's truly allowed himself to consider.

Carlos was very adamant about telling TK he would be an amazing father, but I think he needs to hear someone tell him that. He still has a lot of emotional healing to do, and that would absolutely cause him to have hesitations about having kids. He's convinced that he wouldn’t be a good father, maybe because he's scared of inadvertently passing down some of the same emotional trauma he experienced growing up.

In any case, I can also understand that the addition of a kid at any point may not be everyone's cup of tea, and it definitely would be an odd decision to do it now.

I for one don't necessarily think that will happen this season, but I do think the conversion will come up again, and I hope they give Carlos a chance to dig into his feelings and express them, regardless of whether or not he becomes more resolute in his stance or if he reconsideres it.

So, this isn’t to say "he just hasn't realized xyz yet". Whichever way it goes, I just want the conversion to happen and for TK to give him another one of these hugs.

The music that plays through a blue-tooth system on the receptionist's desk makes TK want to rip out his hair. He doesn't recognize the song at all because it sounds like something off of an album used in daycare to soothe kids to sleep during nap time.

Being the only adult in the waiting room not accompanied by a teenager doesn't help the feeling that he's being mocked. Everyone else is here to support their troubled child, they have their lives put together and are here to help however they can. They drove their kids here, while TK drove himself. TK is the odd one out, the anomaly that doesn't know what he's doing with his life but still having to figure it out by himself.

Things had started out well enough when they first arrived in Austin, TK was willing to put in the work to start his road to healing. His dad had been good in the first few weeks about helping drive him to appointments and asking how things were going. That's since changed, and he's been so busy with the reopening and leading a brand new firehouse that once again TK feels like he's being put second. Everything feels messed up and out of his control in any way. He's being pushed back and forth in the sea of life without any help or safety equipment.

His left leg won't stop bouncing and he's got his head resting on his right hand, slanting himself to the side. He's been staring at the same water stain on the coffee table in front of him for so long that his eyes are starting to water. He can't be bothered to clear them.

The door on his right opens and nearly bumps his leg where it flails about. He tucks it closer to him, but the bouncing continues.

"TK Strand?" the kind woman who had taken his information to check in calls out. He recognizes her voice but can't see her from where he is tucked away in the corner.

“We should have him arrested for attempted vehicular manslaughter,” Carlos says as they walk up front door of Extra Space Storage.

Okay but what if instead of having children, TK and Carlos become Animal People. It was only a matter of time, what with TK's adoration of all animals. And Carlos had always enjoyed most animals (not the the degree of TK and his bringing home a flesh eating lizard, but still). Of course, it began with Lou II, but overtime, and often unintentionally, they began gathering more and more pets.

Most of them were TK’s fault. There was that stray kitten TK found trapped in a gutter on a call who he couldn't bear to part with. And TK finds an injured bird outside that he insists they nurse back to health and release. But then, there's an old police dog who needs rehoming and Carlos has always wanted a dog, so they gain yet another furry friend.

Eventually, they have to leave the loft because their lease doesn't allow for all of them, and as hard as TK tries, he can’t pass off a cat and a German Shepherd as the same pet.

And once they get more space, along with all the animals they adopt over the years, they also foster and take-in animals in need when they can. Carlos makes TK promise not to adopt any stray they foster (he breaks that promise immediately). Still, they do have animals come and go. They even foster a snake for a brief period of time which Carlos refuses to be within a few feet of.

And soon they have this little family, maybe not in the conventional way, but they are both dads to plenty of pets who they treat like children anyway.
