Conflicted tales from physical media: "Persona 3" got a re-release, and the dubbing job was redone pretty much entirely from the ground up. On the one hand: hooray, no more of the terrible (and honestly kind of always overrated, I never got the hype. Kirk Thornton was where it was at) Vic Mignogna as Junpei, so well done there guys. But no Tara Platt (best actor, playing best girl), no Michelle Ruff, no Karen Strassman, no Liam O'Brien (though honestly, dude must be exhausted by now!), no Grant George, no Dan Woren (great as the villain, damn!), and no more credit to the (rather unusually) unknown actor who played Fuuka. Hell, even the Wikipedia article on the characters doesn't credit a lot of them from the original (for the record I think it was Mona Marshall who played Ken, if memory serves). Kind of sad really. "Hey, here's some great work, some wonderful performances, some from actors who we don't even know, and some from actors before or around the time they were really hitting their stride! Well, gone now!" I appreciate the remaking of these games to update the jank and keep them around, but games are honestly kind of a time capsule and should be preserved as all art should. Kind of sucks man.

So, I just found out that Kali is vocied by Tara Platt. Three of the people she voices are Edelgard
Tumblr media
Zero
Tumblr media
and Vert
Tumblr media
I like to think that Kali was like one of them when she was younger. That means she was either flirty, very ambitious, or a vulgar loudmouth.
As a huge fan of Drakengard 3, I will say that I love the idea that Kali and Zero are voiced by the same person. Really shows off her vocal range.

As for Vert, I can't say I remember much of her from the little time I've played Hyperdimension Neptunia. And I've only played, like, two Fire Emblem games, so I don't know much of Edelgard.

So not too long ago I made another venture to MegaCon Orlando 2024 because some VERY important people came along who I simply HAD to meet. Specifically leaning towards the Black Eagle Strike Force side of me.
That said, I'm happy to say I met Tara Platt (Edelgard in 3H, Miriel and Flavia in Awakening, Kali in RWBY, Mitsuru in OG Persona 3) and Zach Aguilar! (Male Byleth in 3H, David Martinez in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.)
On top of getting my copy of Three Houses signed by them both, I got a pretty nifty Crest of Flames pin to go along with a little mini card from Tara's table. So my personal stock's been upped a plenty!
Will have more MegaCon pics soon, so stay tuned!

So, this happened today
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Harada was giving one of his usual long-form essays about behind-the-scenes info on Twitter today, and at some point the conversation shifted towards Anna. In a separate tweet he was explaining to a twitter user who was claiming that he hates Anna that he, in fact, loves her and the whole reason why she started to diversify in Tekken 3 from being just a palette swap of Nina's into her own character is specifically because the dev team likes her and they want her to be popular.
In this particular tweet though he talked about the lore behind their parents and the roles both of them played in Nina and Anna's training.
But in the replies, someone asked for the Nth time why they don't have Irish accents.
I suggested in one of the replies that it would be a fun running joke if Nina and Anna only spoke in their native accents to each other and retained their cover-up American accents when speaking to the rest of the cast, and Tara Platt, Anna's VA, actually saw the tweet and replied!

Review: Voice-Over Voice Actor: The Extended Edition by Yuri Lowenthal
Voice-Over Voice Actor: The Extended Edition by Yuri Lowenthal My rating: 5 of 5 stars The thought of podcasting and/or narrating books has run through my mind a few times, um, a day, for quite a while. I’ve done research and have played with ideas for a while. This book was fun and informative about it all. And the voice-over industry I hadn’t thought of. The narrating tag team authors, Yuri…
