Man, social media is hard.

I see so many people posting regular content consistently for years and years without even seemingly breaking a sweat, while it's always been so difficult for me... Calculating engagement, deciding the best times to post, or, hell, even just sharing what they think/feel/made/fucking ate that day just seems, like, so easy and second nature for pretty much everyone around me. It's genuinely incredible to me that somebody can share what they've learned about idk shitty impractical tanks made in WW1 on this website and make it such an interesting read that hundreds of people engage with it!

But I've tried keeping social media accounts for art and stuff so many times now, on here, on Instagram, on Artstation, on Xitter, and eventually it just- kinda- fades away, it just feels so exhausting to keep track of all the things necessary to Chase the Algorhythm™ if you wanna have any relevancy. Is it a charisma thing??? Where do I grind to get a stat boost on my Cha???

I'd love to say it doesn't matter to me, since I've been drawing shit for myself for years now, but unfortunately artists do need social media presence if they wanna get work. Not to mention, well, I wanna reach people with the stuff I do! I want people to react to what I made, to say what they liked about it, or how it made them feel, and then when I post something I worked on for hours only to get, like, almost zero visibility? idk, man, it just kinda hurts. Then I see so many people out there simply sharing something they think or did only to have some rando twist what they said and come at them like they're the shittiest person on the planet that deserves everything bad in life actually (except the ones that are willingly spouting/promoting hateful shit to begin with. Those can rot in hell and I shall not mourn their demise)

Like??? It might be the Power of Autism™ in me but it always feels like I'm one step away from either making a fool of myself or offending twenty different people or both. He seems to be someone who would put substantial effort into conversing with you when you're discussing an interest of yours that he is not familiar with. For example, if you were talking to him about a new movie that you watched that you are absolutely obsessed with, one that he hasn't watched  yet or isn't interested in,  rather than just being like "who's your favourite" (which of course, he will ask) he will also ask you what your favourite moment in the movie was- why that was your favourite moment; if fantasy, then he would ask of your opinion on the worldbuilding, "Were you okay with the pace of the plot, you know, as someone who only tends to watch long shows?" He takes lots of conscious effort into doing this, and is well aware- and proud- of it

I think he is one of those people who can tell whether you require advice or comfort, whether it is the right time for it, whether you would be okay with physical touch as comfort, whether a joke would be appropriate in the moment, etc just be observing the state that you're in- he just gets you.

He seems quite versatile in his social energy. Like I know he is an ISTJ, but he seems to be introverted in the sense that he requires time alone to recharge, rather than having a preference for being by himself (if that makes sense- like he had isolationist tendencies but nothing against social interactions). I feel like this makes him capable of complementing his partner. If you are extroverted, he would look out for how you are exerting yourself, whether you are going into people pleasing mode, whether you are socializing as a method of escapism and warn you to fix the problem properly. If you are introverted, he would find the right situations with the right people to help you learn how to not depend on anyone to get your point across, he would help you develop confidence without losing control, and help you maintain it.Hhe would tell you of plans three weeks in advance, and when discussing things you could do together, checks in his schedule way ahead to make sure you have time to mentally prepare for it. He will cuddle up and watch netflix with you after you cancel a plan last minute because it just felt exhausting.

I feel like if you are someone who is not good at communicating, then it will be frustrating for jake, and so the two of you will create a communication- comprehension system: you have to communicate certain things with jake, and jake offers to learn how to comprehend your behaviours. I think this will create some cute traditions like going to the same cafe after work on fridays and taking it slow, discussing work life until the cafe closes and then coming home at 8; Small sticky notes posted around by jake with his concerns, asking you to either tick an option or write something else in case you don't want to talk about it.

Formula 1 has come a long way in its 70 years since the first racing event in 1950. Over the years, the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) has sought to improve the sport through various safety, technical, and financial regulations. In a quest for safer, more enjoyable racing, the FIA has unveiled new rules for 2026 and beyond.

Formula 1 cars will be 30 kilograms or 66 pounds lighter. Called the "nimble car" concept, it also makes the car smaller. With the weight reduction, the new minimum weight for both car and driver will be 722 kilograms or 1592 pounds.

Although the FIA has yet to offer any estimates for the performance of the lighter cars, it has said that the goal, as always, is to improve the quality of racing. F1 pundits project the "nimble car" concept will allow for closer racing, thus making the sport more exciting. The smaller dimension will also result in a more dynamic car.

Aerodynamics-wise, the 2026 Formula 1 car will experience 55 percent less drag and 30 percent less downforce. Aerodynamics is the resistance a car must overcome as it moves through the air. - M1A2C (SEPv3) : Has increased power generation and distribution, better communications and networking, new Vehicle Health Management System (VHMS) and Line Replaceable Modules (LRMs) for improved maintenance, an Ammunition DataLink (ADL) to use airburst rounds, improved counter-IED armor package, improved FLIR using long- and mid-wave infrared, a low-profile CROWS RWS, and an Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) under armor to run electronics while stationary instead of the engine, visually distinguishing the version by a small exhaust at the left rear. Prototypes began testing in 2015, and the first were delivered in October 2017. Fielding is expected to begin in 2020. 

- M1A2D (SEPv4) : Under engineering development with delivery planned to start by 2020. The Commander’s Primary Sight, also known as the Commander’s Independent Thermal Viewer, and Gunner’s Primary Sight will be upgraded with 3rd Gen FLIR, an improved laser rangefinder and color cameras. Additional improvements will include advanced meteorological sensors, laser warning/detection receivers, directional smoke grenade launchers and integration of the new XM1147 multi-purpose (AMP) 120 mm tank round. The AN/VVR-4 laser warning receiver and ROSY rapid obscurant system have been trialed by the US Army for adoption on the Abrams tank and Bradley fighting vehicle. 

- M1A2-K : Under development, unique variant for the Kuwaiti Army, slated to replace Kuwait's current M1A2 fleet.

Trondheim to Mo i Rana

I had intended to leave early but as the weather was improving even though still raining, I decided to have a look at Trondheim at walk round the old town first and over the old town bridge. Rather pretty and very interesting.

The area has been settled for more than twelve hundred years and was the Viking capital for a bit. Built of wood it burnt down several times but has always remained important as it has a mild climate (for this part of the world ie the fjord doesn’t freeze) and it is sheltered. In the Second World War it was a big submarine base for the German navy.

I find a Starbucks for my addiction to a grande skinny cappuccino (there are 6 Starbucks in Norway and I have now found 2 of them) and head north.

I measure my drives by time not distance because of the roads. A 6 hour drive on a uk/france/german motorway is some 400 miles. Here it can be much less eg yesterday, but today I should manage about 300 miles in that time.

The bikers have appeared - Harleys too- and the convention is left arm straight out and thumb up to other bikers and also to me. So I do it back!

The weather is continuing to improve and my electrics are now properly functioning. I stop quite frequently though for petrol as the gauge is non linear, Morgan has a small tank and it can get air locked which makes it smaller still and although I have googled petroleum stations on my route, I am now heading into the definitely more remote region. The exhaust is not as good as when I left Gothenburg but a reasonable guess is that one of the welds has broken but the rest have held. No problem I decide unless it gets worse.

I get to Mo I Rana (translation is the farm of Mo) and it is a bit of a dump and the hotel more so. I had decided to stop here because of the strange name and because it is only about an hour to the Arctic Citcke

It is an industrial port (can see that) and not much else. But when I walk down to the water front to stretch my legs, I find Anthony Gormley has been here - and that is for real.

So with a glass of wine and a bowl of Scandinavia salad, I finish off series 3 of Bridgerton. To summarise, the dumpy girl with the huge boobs and uplift bra, shows she has also got some brains and catches her man - padded out to 6 episodes of 45 minutes each.

The sun sets at 10pm and rises at 4am. It may not be the land of the midnight sun, but it doesn’t get properly dark either. The pic below is 11pm approx - a permanent twilight of sorts.

Tomorrow the rain is due to stop and I am determined to cross the Arctic Circle with the roof down!
