I read an analysis on Batu and it prompted me to think about Cadaverous Gant, because I’m actually starting to think his character was actually kind of interesting.

There are two main aspects of his character. The first, that he hates Valkyrie and wants to kill her. The second, that he wants to be a god and feels that he was robbed of his chance by the fact that nobody ever told him about it.

And if you think about it, the reasons why he would hate Valkyrie are actually many in number. The man is a misogynist, naturally, and that definitely contributes something. Not to mention the fact that he blamed her for Jeremiah Wallow’s death, no matter how responsible for it she actually was.

But what I’m focusing right now on is the godhood part of his character. He wants to be god so bad that it is his magical ability that he is able to slowly become the literal god of a place and warp it to his will, so long as that area is only a house. He wants it. And in a very real way, Valkyrie was the one who got what he wanted.

It’s a running theme in the series that the sorcerers like to think of themselves of gods, even if that frankly isn’t true. But of all the sorcerers, Valkyrie is probably the closest to a true god. She has BEEN a god, at least until they cut her soul in half. After Cadaverous’s death, she becomes one again through possession by the Faceless Ones. Cadaverous is stuck being merely the god of one small area, whereas Valkyrie is so often given the option to rule the fucking world. And he sees this, sees how much people adore her, how much Skulduggery adores her, and he thinks she doesn’t deserve it. A false god, if you will. He wants to prove that she’s just as fallible as anyone else so, so badly.

And this manifests in other ways as well. Cadaverous wishes that he has found out he was a sorcerer when he was younger so that he wouldn’t have become old. And that is EXACTLY what Valkyrie got. She would have lived life as a mortal if not for the fact that Skulduggery intercepted when she was twelve. It was that one, lucky coincidence in her life that gave her the chance to be young for centuries, and that is a chance that Cadaverous DIDN’T get. She could live to be a hundred years old and she’d look pretty much the same as she does now. Cadaverous, on the other hand, looks like a withered old man at eighty years old. He‘s jealous. He wishes he had a young body that didn’t hurt all the time.

And this is all also interesting because of how Winter, strangely enough, follows a similar line of thought regarding her sister. She doesn’t realize it, but both she and the man who kidnapped her when she was just a child both see Valkyrie as a sort of god, and both want her power so badly. They both think she doesn’t deserve to have the power. They both wholeheartedly believe that they are the more worthy one. Winter knows of Malice, knows that she could have been Malice if not for the fact that Valkyrie intervened, and she RESENTS that fact. SHE could’ve been the one with all the power, but noooo, her SISTER stepped in and took it, even when her sister was already so strong and so well known. Just like how she had the nerve to kill Jeremiah Wallow and to stay young forever.

And Valkyrie doesn’t even know that her sister hates her. She hasn’t gotten the opportunity to realize just how hard Cadaverous must be laughing at her from the grave. Hey, maybe there was a reason he took such a liking to Alice~

this started because one of my ex best friends was REALLY into danganronpa and we were rp partners for a hot minute and liek . i ended up having a dream that kazuichi souda and keith kogane went to the mall together, told them about it n we were liek "hah thats funny" n then the danganronpa au was born even though i wasnt even into it at the time (became a major hyperfix and still is :'/)

the reapers canonically do fall within different age groups, all have unique deaths which play into their designs somewhat, uhh liek sheepdog got drowned and he has a lot of blue in his design, rein froze to death and also. is blue.,,,, a surprising amt of blue in these bitches ?.

sheepdog is a fan favorite and also alot of his fans turn out to be some flavor of freak and not in the funpilled way :( .. SIGH
