Briar Baggins was a disappointment to those in the Shire who once expected that she would become someone exceptional. She was difficult to coax from her study, often withdrawing into books about lands far beyond their green, rolling hills.

It came as a surprise when Briar accepted an invitation from her cousin to visit Bucklebury, and returned some time later with a baby in her arms. A baby that malicious gossips insisted had been seen wearing tiny socks, of all things!

No doubt things would settle down again after that bit of excitement.

A proper gentlehobbit would not chase after adventure well into her middle age, after all.

not really, even if some directories have writing as an optional thing for your activity check. public threads die after one reply, or even right after the starter. all of the gen directories have some negativity too.

connect is very cold and unwelcoming. while people in ink are friendly enough, i and multiple people have expressed that it’s not easy to make actual friends at all, even after trying for a while. dahlia is slowly turning into connect 2.0 and is basically where seventeen rp’ers go to ship with each other. talkfast is illiterate as all hell and only a third of the people who reacted to your plot call will actually respond. i haven’t joined kefi, but someone here mentioned it’s basically for the admin’s ship to interact with labelmates and is also unwelcoming. i also haven’t joined elysian, which is semi-au and has some sort of writing element for a monthly ac, but i did have a friend who joined and they very quickly left since they realized it was made just for a few ship partners who had left connect because they weren’t really socializing in a bigger community at all—they just wanted a place to only focus on their partner and not deal with connect’s ac.

so… no! no gen directories ACTUALLY encourage writing, and i’d kill for one that REQUIRES writing, like how aqua used to a year ago before people eventually complained about that.
