Can we talk about the homoerotisim baratie scene with garp and zeff? Like those two old men were gonna fuck

I havent watched the last three eps yet but ive seen screenshots and yea garp is getting around

I think its v funny that Garp had Mihawk on speedial that was great and that Mihawk had a vanity introduction complete with explosions whilst he talked to his babydaddy via snail blue tooth

i’m unsure as to how to frame this as an assumption, but would you mind talking a little about saint sebastian and why you like him? thank you so much! xx

Well I was going to wait to answer this until I got home and could use my laptop for pictures/links to articals etc but I'm taking a break from maths work so I figured I'll write a quick response and add anything I've forgotten to talk about later. I mean, I guess I should clarify that I am... not religious or really intersted in st sebastian in a religious context as much as... as an artistic subject I guess? 

So basically when I was deep in my 'finding gay culture to consume' phase I found it just... really funny that this early christian myrter became such a massive symbol of homoerotisim. He's a wierd go-to for any gay male imagry. (I also have a lot to say about st sebastian and sebastian from brideshead and the impact of that naming choice from back when I was Thinking About It). Its funny how much he comes up in art generally, I find in medieval/renaissance/baroque art if there is a religious subject that isn't mary and child or jesus on the cross, its often st sebastian. So its sort of a little game for me to spot st sebastian in art galleries. 

Its basically the fault of Reni that i like st sebastian, i should add. He did a series of patinings of him (like the one in my icon) that are all Very Nice. But a lot of other st sebastian art has the things that i like about it in them, especially any baroque ones! The dark moody atmosphere, the wierd erotic aspect, the concept of myrterdom generally, the tension in the body, what they often do most well is... an exploration of something between agony and escasy right? So he's supposed to be dying and in pain but he either looks bored or thoughtful or looking up at god in wonder. In the least s&m way possible. Its an exploration between utter pain of death and utter pleasure- religious/sexual/artistic/whatever. 

That sort of combination is also found really really well in a lot of art of the passion? Any cruxifix has that brilliant mixture of sexuality, pain, reverance, sacrifice and bliss. Both st sebastian and jesus are generally great excuses for a study of the male body and a study of a particualar emotion and a study of myrterdom. I guess its harder to remove christ on the cross from being a strictly religious image for contemplation to being an aesthetic object than it is with st sebastian though. 

Theres a funny artical by the toast called like 'st sebastain in increasing order of hotness and decreasing order of actually dying' that is good for an amusing look into how much st seb always looks like he's having a little too much fun and being a little too naked to be being almost murdered by some romans or whatever
