Can you please make a list of your most favorite novels (and if you want, tell why you like them)?
Anon this is such a difficult question but I think I'm in a better place to answer it this year than last year? There are some old books that I no longer love, and there are some books that I still love and would happily reread again.
I'm linking to posts where I've written about them before, and a couple to my NU reviews. it got so long that everything is under a cut.
On the HE side: 君有疾否 Are You Ill Sir?
破罐子破摔 Nothing To Lose, one of Fei Tian Ye Xiang's earliest works that he considers a part of his "dark history". It's a mess, reads like a fevered dream borne out of playing Dynasty Warriors until you drop, but I think it's the first book where FTYX showed the first sign of his genius -- his ability to write a scene like it's been pulled out of a movie. Also he writes Lu Bu like the biggest HIMBO and what's not to love really. Don't forget to read the extended extra that features an A'dou x Lu Bu x Zhao Yun sandwich. (Bless Feitian for the possibility of such a sentence)
殺破狼 Sha Po Lang - obviously
北城天街 Beicheng Tianjie - Technically gay lit, not danmei, but it reads like a modern fairy tale by the end. /you will cry
偷風不偷月 Steal On Nights Windy and Moonless - physical transmigration is a rarity in any genre, and this one was written so well, especially in its depiction of familial relationships. /tears
薄霧 Mist, this one probably got Wei Feng Ji Xu put on the map, but before this there was Rose Beauty, which I also enjoyed; actually, it's probably because I read Rose Beauty that I put up with so many zombies in this book. Go read Rose Beauty if you want good writing but without the zombies. This has So many. Zombies. Probably the best in genre for time travel, and in a way, 無限流. The plot is tight, the ship is cute, and while at some point in the middle you start to think "does this book need to be this long", by the time it gets to the end, you won't.
藍月光 Blue Moon
迪奥先生
浮光
颱風眼
別來無恙 How Have You Been by Bei Nan. I don't think I cried this much over tragedies. (This is HE)
落池
又一春
完美無缺 - Perfection by Jin Guan Quan. Transmigration from older famous actor into younger unknown singer, and while it doesn't seem so special in concept now, I'd happily read it again.
我等你到風景看透
日落大道
金牌助理
BE side 鷹奴
無根攻略
活受罪+長相守
Things that are so long there's no way I'd read again but were they ever fun while they lasted (leaving me quite sleep deprived)
不要在垃圾桶里捡男朋友
Anything and everything by Erya, of SCI fame. I have read everything even her old things. It took me months. She's written more since then, and she's on the verge of finishing sequels to the millions of words of Bao Qingtian fanfic both period and modern and I'm not sure when I'll find time to read it all.
破雲+吞海
將進酒

Sick Day
(( @bleachintothemultiverse I wanted to write this for you! I focused on Akane and left the end ambiguous so you can fill in your own details.))
She could feel it creeping upon her. She’d grown used to the signs of illness; the sluggishness, the rise in temperature, and more were all too familiar to her. But of all the times for it to really start bothering her, it just had to be when she was trying to sleep with Seinosuke. She knew he’d be able to figure out what was wrong with her in a heartbeat once he’s awake. That’s just one of the benefits of dating a doctor honestly. But the only problem was that tomorrow was a work day for the both of them. She wouldn’t mind taking the day off for herself, but she’d hate to make her love do the same to care for her.
As not nice being sick is,she did like when Seinosuke cared for her when she fell ill. Since the last few times were during their time off,he was able to take care of her. Truthfully, even just viewing how he handled her as a doctor then,it was some of the best care shed ever had when sick. The fact they were dating was just and added bonus. Though it also made her worry a little. She knew very well that they both were very job oriented people,so she didn’t want him to feel like he has to help her get better on a work because of their romantic status. On the other hand, she didn’t want him to feel like he couldn’t help her because if was a work day.
Akane silently sighs and brushes off the thoughts. That wasn’t her decision to make,it was Seinosuke’s. No matter the outcome, she would be happy. She relaxes again and closes her eyes, trying to sleep again. Despite feeling rather heated from her fever, she still manages to ease back into rest. She knew that this time Seinosuke would be the first of the two of them to wake up in the morning, but she didn’t mind. She knew rest was important to get better after all.

Second time’s the charm, right?
Prompt: Lightning Strikes // Partners in Crime
Pairing: Azula / Sokka
Tagged: Sokkla, SFW, AU
Summary: A stranger in strange land, Sokka never expected to hold court with the warrior princess of the Fire Nation herself. He is instantly struck by her beauty.
Notes: Again, sorry for the awkward spacing.
Her eyes were amber. In all his life Sokka had never seen something like that. He understood, of course, that such eyes existed. Scrolls penned by hardscrabble merchants and journals written by literate soldiers spoke of women and men with fire in their hearts, the souls of dragons made manifest in human form, passionate as they were brutal. He had seen paintings too, of murals scrawled onto old walls with a thousand gold-painted eyes glaring into a black abyss, wildfires bending to the will of their masters.
And yet it was such a shock to Sokka. He had never expected to gaze upon her oval face to see the sun shining in her eyes. They were so bright, so amazingly invigorating.
Her skin was pale, covered in crimson and inlaid with gold. His mind instantly thought of snow and bone and ivory, but they were cold and hard and dead to him, a harsh reminder of his barren homeland. All he thought about was feeling finger to finger, palm to palm, to feel the warmth of her beautiful skin and to know unfathomable pleasure.
Her hair was black, crowned by a gold hairpiece. Darker than a warm and moonless summer night, soft as silk and combed with care. It fell in a long curtain behind her back, brushing against the black steel of her armor.
Sokka didn’t believe in love at first sight, of two people meeting for the first time and dedicating their entire lives to each other. That was a thing for fairy tales and bedtimes stories. The ways of this island nation had hardened him to expect nothing more than the fleeting moments of lust, craving it like a drug.
And yet she struck him hard; this lightning bolt from a clear sky. He would search for the secrets of passion just to hear her voice in his ear, to stab a man in the back if it meant standing closer to her. If he could have her, then he’d want her forever.
There were others that wanted her too, sons of men with noble names stretching back into the heroic past of the Fire Nation, when the islands were unified under one flag by the victorious few. Sons with money and clout and fair skin like hers. Sokka had only the backing of a respected gentleman to lend him any status. That, and a sword made by his own hand, tempered with the blood of bandits and rebels. He was nothing more than a castaway plucked from the sea and given a home, a boy without a family and without a shred of nobility.
And yet he was given a chance, if anything to humor the princess and lend variety to the plethora of suitors coveting her. If she knew about his service to her country she wasn’t letting on. The ways in which drunken bandits and petty rebels could die would hardly impress her. They were not the contemptible opponents requiring skill and valor that excited the imagination. Compared to her deeds, he was woefully unremarkable.
They walked among the trimmed bushes and red pagodas of the royal gardens, shadowed by faceless guardsmen and leering courtiers whispering behind little fans. Sokka could feel their hateful eyes raking over his back. He tried not to care about it too much, walking with as much dignity as he could.
He looked upon her with as little bashfulness as he was able to muster, trying to catch her eye with a smile, to show her she was worth it, but there was a gnawing feeling in his heart that choked his confidence. She was beyond him. He had never felt so out of place, not since he washed up on the black sand shores of the Fire Nation, with the scent of the sea heavy in his bloodied nose. The pleasant aroma of her perfume teased his senses in place of that foul scent and he yearned to be closer to her.
Again he glanced her way, hoping to see her beautiful eyes, but she spared him no such luxury. She merely strutted at a deliberate pace, arms crossed behind her, the slightest pinch of her soft red lips betraying some apparent disgust.
He couldn’t blame her. While she quietly contemplated the strange turn of events that brought a foreigner to her, Sokka attempted to talk. He had no idea what to say to her though, or even if it was acceptable for him to speak first. He felt as if he was balancing on a fragile tightrope of courtly manners and protocol, of which he had little practice in. One word out of place would mean social suicide.
He swallowed his fear and cleared his throat, attempting to talk with as much false grace as an actor would. “I… understand if my presence here is unusual, your highness.”
She stirred at his voice, her eyes flickering to life as her cheeks turn a light red. Sokka didn’t know what to make of that. Perhaps she was embarrassed that someone like him would address her so brashly.
Stifling the unease in his heart, he crossed his arms behind him. “I’m an oddity I imagine, a savage from a strange land playing dress-up and pretending to be civilized. I understand if you find me intolerable to be around. Rest assured, your highness, your patience with me is much appreciated and I am most grateful for it.”
Her eyes narrowed, sparing him an inscrutable glance. “Hm. Indeed.”
Sokka blinked, nodding to himself. “Indeed.”
They walked in silence for a time. Sokka tried to keep his fingers from drumming nervously in his hands, attempting to smile as he took in his surroundings. He tried to speak again, but every time he opened his mouth he felt more like an idiot. As they walked he had the dreadful impression that the faintest hint of her smiles were only meant to humor him. He could only imagine how strenuous it was to be around him, a commoner flirting with the idea of becoming ennobled.
Sokka just hoped he didn’t sound as stupid as he thought, that her cryptic glances and little smiles were somehow signs of genuine interest in him. It was a pleasant lie of course, something to give him hope, no matter how false it was.
He knew better of course. He would never stand a chance of courting her.
But then she stopped. It caught him off guard and he had to halt mid-step just to turn and face her.
“What is it?” he asked.
And that’s when he saw it. At first she seemed reluctant, but her quick glances soon turned into a piercing amber gaze. He could have sworn the blush on her cheeks were as red as her robes.
“Your eyes,” she stated, with as much courage as she could muster, “They’re blue.”

Warm Morning
@bleachintothemultiverse ((Wrote this for us,hope you like it.))
Early morning light lazily pooled into Akane’s room. The dark haired woman woke up slowly, but didn’t pull away from her sweetheart, keeping the medic in her warm embrace. It was one of their rare days off today and she honestly wanted to try spending it with him. Of course if he has things to do,she won’t stop him. She glances at Seinosuke with her red eyes and smiles a little. She was glad to see him rest so peacefully, knowing that he’s been working so hard lately. She moves one arm from around his waist slowly then puts her hand in his hair carefully, letting her sleeve rest against him in a way to try and block the light from disturbing them. All her attempts to make sure he didn’t wake yet.
Yet... Truthfully all these actions felt so romantically intimate to Akane. It brought a light blush to her cheeks. She knew she rarely has the boldness to do things like this when he’s awake after all. After a few minutes of continuing to watch him rest while deep in thought, she leans in and gently gives his forehead a chaste kiss before she relaxes and tries slipping back into sleep. Hibiki will probably wake them up for breakfast in an hour anyways, there’s no reason to get up now.

Family History
Kaede hums warmly as Hibiki does her pigtails for her.
“Hey Hibiki?”
“Yes Lady Kaede?”
“Why doesn’t Akane-nee have any female noble friends?”
Hibiki is quietly taken aback by the question, thinking about the last time Akane had female guests over a year ago.
—————
“Lady Mochizuki, the preparations for Lady Maruyama and Lady Ohno are ready?”
Hibiki says calmly to Akane. Akane smiles and gets up.
“Wonderful,thank you so much Hibiki.”
The old maid nods as Akane leaves to wait to greet her guests. Hibiki followed close behind her. A few minutes later they could hear the two young women loudly whispering to each other outside,Maruyama clearly telling Ohno to not embarrass her. It wasn’t much a surprise to hear, not only were the two lower nobles who’d love to get close to a noble family like the Mochizukis, but it was clear Maruyama idolized Akane. The two had met at a small dinner party Akane went to and the young woman basically didn’t leave her side,it was almost shameful behavior, but Akane entertained it and didn’t point it out. After all it wasn’t everyday she had people being fans of her. Though it was clear her friend,Ohno, didn’t feel quite the same. But nevertheless,Akane invited both to have tea with her after the party and they planned to do such a week later. And now it was finally time for the arrangement.
After proper greetings and such, the three nobles were sat quietly drinking tea,Akane and Maruyama giving calm small talk about Akane’s career. Hibiki stood off to the side, ready to refill tea or do anything needed of her. Finally Ohno spoke up.
“It’s so unfair.”
“Excuse me? What do you mean,Miss Ohno?”
“The fact that you’re only a seventh generation and so high up but me and Sakura are twenty-second generations and we’re still low rungs! Your family is so young!”
Ohno says angrily, making her friend look horrified. However Akane remains calm.
“My family may be young compared to families like the Kuchkis or Shihouins, but I assure you Miss Ohno that the Mochizukis aren’t that young. We’re just very long lived, despite our immune problems, and tend to have as many children as we can later in life.”
“I just don’t believe a word of that! Where’s your proof?!”
Akane sighs softly and looks at Hibiki. Hibiki knew what that meant. While she wasn’t going to be outwardly cruel, but she was going to horribly humiliate Ohno...
“Hibiki, who were you hired by?”
“Your great,great grandmother, Lady Mochizuki.”
“And how old was she?”
“About as old as I am now.”
Akane smiles a little.
“And how old were you back then?”
Hibiki gives a smile back, doing her best to act as though nothing was wrong.
“I was 145. And your great grandmother was 90 at the time and her sister was 20.”
Akane nods then looks back at Ohno calmly.
“Was that proof enough,Miss Ohno? As I said, my family is very long lived and tend to have as many kids as they can when they’re older.”
She says, swallowing and holding back her smugness about it. Ohno was red with anger while her friend was red in embarrassed. Then a smirk crosses Ohno’s face.
“Wasn’t your mother an only child? That proves you’re lying!”
That’s when the room went cold. Maruyama looked mortified at her friend and even Hibiki had an uncomfortable expression. Akane pauses then opens her eyes, not holding back her glare towards Ohno.
“Yes,she was,but that’s because my grandmother had fertility problems from a childhood illness. That’s rather public knowledge though,so how does that prove your nonsense theory about my bloodline?”
Ohno’s face drops at that as she hears that. She sputters a bit before going quiet. Akane then sighs.
“Hibiki can you show our guests out? I believe we’re done here. And Miss Maruyama,I suggest rethinking the company you keep around.”
Akane says sternly, getting up and leaving. Maruyama looks painfully embarrassed as she and Ohno get escorted out.
———————
“Noble ladies tends to not like her all that much.”
“Oh that sucks! Big sis is amazing!!”

Tags for mentions: @mindinmuken @raisingyourhead @codename-freya @bleachintothemultiverse
Akane quietly enters her home, loosening the ribbon she wears in her hair. Today had been a long day for her,she was hoping for a peaceful night back at home. However all that hope for peace quickly vanishes when she sees her little sisters standing by the door holding her red pointe shoes.
“Izumi,Kaede.”
She says calmly, acting like she doesn’t see her old ballet equipment.
“Akane,where have you been?”
“Were you on a date with Mister Tokinada?”
The two ask right after each other. Akane sighs gently and shakes her head.
“Girls I told you I was going to work and Kaede you know better than to call Mister Tsunayashiro by his first name and of course I wasn’t. There’s nothing remotely romantic between me and him.”
She gently scolds. Izumi giggles as Kaede pouts.
“Yeah Kaede! She’s totally secret dating Seinosuke.”
“I’m not involved with Mister Yamada either and don’t call him his first name either, you’re strangers. You two really need to stop making such grand assumptions about me and men I talk to,next thing you know you’ll be saying me and Mister Kira are together because I’m trying to help him as well.”
Akane scolds again, joking and teasing her younger sisters a little at the end of her statement. Normally she’d scold them longer for their romance based rumors and how disrespectful they are to the other people. Hell normally she’d act extra cross with them for being so casual with Tsunayashiro’s name. But they’re just teenagers who are just excited their big sister knows “famous” people. She can forgive them as long as they keep this to themselves. She’d hate for any of them to find out what her little sisters were thinking about.
“Anyways Nee-chan,”
Kaede starts, changing the subject and purposely using a nickname Akane has a hard time saying no to,
“Doooo you know what month it is?”
Akane sighs softly and nods.
“It’s December,I’m guessing you two want me to do the performance?”
“Mhm!! We even got you a new outfit for it!!”
Izumi says, pulling a box out from behind her back and handing it to Akane. The noirette sighs then nods to them, knowing it’s pointless to fight.
“Fine,I’ll do it, but did you ask Kaisa if she wanted to watch?”
“Well no, but we thought you’d rather her try sleeping.”
Kaede mumbles, looking at the ground. Akane gave a little hum then took her dancing shoes from her gently.
“It’s fine,I’ll just do it again if she does want to see.”
She coos gently, patting her little sister on the head. Izumi giggles and holds up a video camera in her other hand than the box.
“Actually Akane we got a video camera so we could record you for her!”
She chirps. Akane chuckles lightly and takes the box from her.
“Wonderful, now you two go get the stage ready. Ask servants for help if you need to.”
She hums as she walks off to change. It’d been so long since Akane actually took her dance lessons. However ballet was always one of her talents, had she’d not grown so tall she could’ve gone professional with it according to her old coaches. Despite have no real future in it,Akane kept practicing it. Her little sisters had always been mesmerized by her dancing from a young age, along with things like her singing. So when they’d picked up an interest with a movie from the world of the living,a new December tradition for the three formed.
Every December Akane would do a ballet dance while singing the song Once Upon a December. She even had a small room with a low, but wide stage and everything added onto the house for it. The younger two of the trio would always get so excited about it,they started even getting her custom costumes for it just a few years back. Truthfully the tradition embarrassed Akane a little, she never felt like she was that good at dancing or singing. Hell she’d be mortified if anyone besides those in the household saw her little annual performance. But seeing the happiness on her sisters’ faces made it all worth it for her.
It took little time for the therapist to get ready, she was practiced with this by this point in her life. She glances at herself one last time in the mirror before she got on stage. The stage lights flick on and the music starts. Akane then starts her dance and starts to sing while her little sisters watched and filmed her. She held back her blush, pushing away her feelings of being camera shy. She didn’t have time to focus on that, she has to focus on this right now. Soon enough the short song ended though and the room lights came back on.
Akane smiles at her sisters and yawns.
“Goodnight you two,I’m going to bed now. Don’t stay up to late.”
The two nod snd watch her older sister walk out of the room.
“... So we’re still going to post this everywhere right?”
“Oh totally, big sis is going to be the talk of the town finally with her performance going viral!”

Filth
Tw: Mild gore and blood
Akane stared coldly at the man now laying at her feet. He was an old family friend, someone her father knew. However this man suffered the same problem her father did,a horrible gambling addiction. So when he came to the Mochizuki estate begging for help, who was Akane to turn him away in his time of need. However... The man was less than grateful for her kindness. He kept grabbing at her hands and flirting so shamelessly with her. It was starting to get at her nerves, but she remained calm.
“Mister Itou, let’s get to the real chat of why you’re here. Now I don’t mind finding you a place to stay and helping you with your addiction, however I’m not comfortable letting you stay here or giving you money that I won’t know what you’ll be using for.”
She explains calmly, setting down her cup of tea. The brunet man laughs and rolls his eyes.
“You Mochizuki girls,such teases.”
Akane pauses, furrowing her brows a bit. She knew her father’s crowd of friends were of the vulgar variety but...
“Excuse me?”
“Your family’s woman are such teases with their behavior, you’re just like your mother when I first met her and your father.”
He snorts, acting as if her question was childish or stupid in some way.
“Sir my mother was a beyond respectable woman and you will speak of her as such.”
Akane says firmly. The man only continued to cackle as though she was telling him the funniest story he’s ever heard. Akane’s eyebrow twitched angrily at Itou. How dare he disrespect her mother and family name. The Mochizukis had such a good reputation her own father took the name rather her mother taking his! The bony man reaches over to Akane and tries to touch her face, but she quickly strikes it away from him.
“Mister Itou,I’d appreciate it if you refrained from touching me like that.”
She couldn’t help hissing out at her guest. He glares harshly at her, growling out.
“Just call me Jiro,I’m going to marry you anyways.”
“You will do no such thing!”
Akane yells, unable to stop herself from raising her voice. Itou’s face grows angrier and he makes a grab at Akane. Akane quickly moves back and pulls out her zanpakuto. When he steps closer, she swiftly pulls it out and cuts his left cheek with it. Before he can do or say anything, she calmly says.
“Spin,Yuri no Kumo...”
Itou’s pupils widen, his arms fall limply to his side, and his jaw falls open a bit. She smiles casually and tugs at the string attached to him from her shikai, playing with it a little.
“Mister Itou, you’re not going to remember me cut you like this. When you leave here, you’re going to reveal everything you’ve done. You’re going to tell everyone about all your gamble debts and every awful action you’ve done, and most importantly you’re going to reveal the crude things you’ve said about noble women like me.”
She commands, the brunet mindlessly nodding while deep in her hypnosis. She pulled and plucked the string in different ways while speaking, making it grow shorter and sink into him. Akane couldn’t help smirking cruelly a bit before harshly tugging at the string before it got too short, making the man stumble over.
“Before that though, you’re going to clean up all the blood you dripped onto my floor.”
The man nods again, using his sleeves to clean up the mess. Akane releases him from the string as soon as he finished. He stayed dazed on the floor for a few seconds, holding his hurt cheek in confusion. She knew he had vague memories of what just happened besides what she made him forget. She turns away from him and walks away.
“Hibiki, our guest got himself hurt. Can you see to his injury?”
She calls out to her head maid, not wanting to help Itou herself anymore. Filth like that didn’t deserve her attention. She didn’t have time for swine.

Aka-chan
Akane slowly woke up and rubbed her sleepy eyes with her little hands. The young girl slowly got up and went to her parents’ room, her short hair bouncing with every step she took. She opened the door and peaked in. Her father wasn’t in there like she assumed, but her mother was in there and laying on her bed. The woman looked over at her young daughter and smiles.
“Oh good morning,sweetie.”
She greets with a smile as Akane walks over to her. Her mother gently picks her up and bounces her a little in her arms.
“Mama,I don’t feel good...”
Akane mumbles, hiding her face against her mother. The woman frowns and softly feels Akane’s forehead.
“You don’t have a fever... What doesn’t feel good,baby?”
She asks gently. Akane pauses, not having gotten this far in her lie planning. Her silence though quickly made things obvious to her mother though.
“Aka-chan,you shouldn’t lie to me like that. You know better. Did you just want out of your lessons today?”
She scolds lightly, using the softest firm tone she can at her daughter. Akane tears up quickly though and tightly clings to her mother, uncharacteristic behavior for her.
“But Mama I don’t want to see that tutor again! He’s really mean,Mama, and what he’s teaching me doesn’t make sense! I don’t want to go!”
She sobs to her mother. Her mother gives a light gasp and holds her hiccuping child closer, rubbing her back and bouncing her again.
“Shh, it’s okay. I won’t make you go,Aka-chan. Mama won’t make you go.”
She coos repeatedly until Akane soothes down to just sniffles.
“Do you promise,Mama?”
“I promise,Akane. How about we have you go to dance lessons today instead? You liked those right?”
“I did! The teacher is very nice.”
Akane giggles, sleepily resting her head on her mother before dozing off. Her mom smiles and carefully carries her back to bed.
“I’ll let you sleep just a little bit longer...”
She mumbles as she lays her child down in bed.

Moody
Akane calmly listened to her patient rant about whatever, she wasn’t even sure at this point. This man was always so angry at everything when he came in for his appointments. Normally Akane didn’t mind, everyone has the right to vent to her after all. However, today, he seemed mad at literally everything. He changed from one rant to another so quickly it was hard for her to keep up.
The noirette looks at the clock hung up on the wall and smiles.
“Ah it looks like our time is up.”
She says calmly. The patient looked at her,eye twitching in his rage.
“What?”
“You heard me,Mister Takahashi, our time today is up. I’m assuming you want this same time next week?”
“You can’t do this! I’m not done yet!”
“Mister Takahashi, I’m sorry but I have other patients to get to today. I can’t extend your appointment.”
Akane says firmly, getting up and preparing to call security for the unruly patient. As soon as she got up though,he pushed her harshly into the wall. Before she could respond,he pulled out a knife he’d been consealing. Truthfully she wasn’t surprised at the weapon, but when he tried to stab her, she grabbed his wrist with her left hand. He struggled and glared at her, screaming obscenities.
“You have such little class for a noble,Mister Takahashi...”
She hisses out before she unseathed Yuri no Kumo.
“Akai yuri no kumo o amu...”
She mumbles, her blade disappearing as she unleashed her Bankai. This was her first time using it on a patient. Normally she’d only use her shikai,it had similar effects after all. But maybe it was the fact she’d been listening to him berate her staff over nothing for the last hour or the fact he just tried to harm her for telling him his appointment was over, but she decided it was enough to go full out with him.
He stiffens up against his will as thick spider silk stuck to him. He dropped his weapon and started trying to squirm, making nearly pathetic whines of fear.
“Oh hush, you aren’t the one who has this coming from her voice box.”
Akane scolds as the man quieting against his will from her phrasing. Her painted lips curl into a smile of faux politeness and niceness, the velvety string of her Bankai parting the red of her lipstick with a silvery white.
“Now you’re behaving... Now relax.”
She commands, her patient’s body forcibly relaxing and making him completely give into her hypnotic effect. Akane opens her eyes fully, letting her red orbs look over the man like a predator stalking its prey. Her smile widens and she calmly sits back down in her chair.
“You’ve been an awful patient,Mister Takahashi, especially with this incident. From now on whenever you speak of causing or attempt to provoke violence towards anyone involved with the Mochizuki name,be it member or friend or servant, you will feel excruciating,mind-numbing pain.”
She says in the calmest firm tone she can muster. After he nods, she reseals her Bankai and puts her zanpakuto away. As much as she loved her power for convenience for situations like this;she was thankful that the feeling of web silk was gone from her mouth.
“I don’t believe I’m fit to be your therapist anymore,Mister Takahashi, however I will recommend you to my therapist’s therapist. He mostly specializes in electroshock therapy, but I’m sure he can still do absolute wonders for you.”
She says as her patient tries to figure out what happened, only remembering trying to stab Akane. Akane quietly writes some things down in his file, not looking up at him.
“You’re dismissed, ask a security guard or nurse to escort you home.”
She hums as he stumbles out of the room, still reeling from the situation.

Jona holds her head quietly and gives a low sigh.
“I’m so overstimulated again...”
Akane glances at the blonde and raises an eyebrow.
“How do you keep managing that?”
“Well it could be the fact you’ve drastically changed my sleep schedule and I’ve been babysitting your very extroverted sisters when I’m an introvert.”
“No need to get snappy and most people are happy to have someone help them get to bed earlier.”
“Whatever Miss Doesn’t Acknowledge her Attachment Issues to her Mother.”
“Excuse me?”
The two women now glared at each other,Jona pushing up her glasses.
“You heard me,Akane, and you know I’m right.”
“You most certainly aren’t! You’re just making arrogant claims!”
“And there you are denying it again. Yet you acknowledge the struggles and tribulations that the women of your family advertise to make themselves seem like role models. My grandmother with her fertility problems and your mother with her trying to fix the broken man that was your father. What’s yours Akane? Is it the fact you’ve had two fiancés fall out of love with you and leave or maybe it’s the fact you’ve had to raise your little sisters mostly alone or maybe it’s the fact you’re one of the few top people in the mental health field here in the Soul Society when mental health is painfully demonized and uncared about?”
“...”
“You realize I have no reason to not go tell everyone I know all the secrets you told me right? I could go back on my promise. But I won’t as I understand your aggression and maltreatment of me comes from the fact you’re painfully jealous that I’m pursuing and doing okay at my dream career, something you never had the chance or balls to do. Now can you turn the lights off please? The buzz of the electricity is making my overstimulation worse.”
Akane quietly turns off the lights in the room and sighs.
“I forgot you’re just as smart as me when it comes to reading into the emotions of people you know...”
“Thank you and damn right I am. Goodnight Akane.”
Jona hums as Akane leaves the room, being more than a little perturbed with the Quincy.
