"I recognized I was viewing the manifestations of dreams on the screens." @Spelman_College's new Distinguished Professor in the Arts Julie Dash describing a revelation she had as a high schooler watching foreign films in a free cinematography workshop at the @StudioMuseum. She shared how she was described as a daydreamer in her youth, which she later understood to be characteristic of her introverted personality. I loved her talk this evening - especially how she used to hide the "little stories" she'd write as kid, filmed newsreels as a high school filmmaker of street protests in Harlem & shared great advice with #AUC students about persistence. The breadth of her career across mediums is astounding.
