¡Feliz aniversario! El 29 de marzo se cumple el 45 Aniversario del lanzamiento del álbum Breakfast in America. Se han vendido más de treinta millones de copias en todo el mundo.

Breakfast in America es el sexto álbum de estudio de Supertramp lanzado por A&M Records el 29 de marzo de 1979. Fue grabado en 1978 en The Village Recorder de Los Ángeles. Generó tres sencillos exitosos en la cartelera estadounidense: "The Logical Song" (n.° 6), "Take the Long Way Home" (n.° 10) y "Goodbye Stranger" (n.° 15). Y en el Reino Unido, "The Logical Song" y "Breakfast in America" estuvieron entre los 10 primeros.

Breakfast in America ganó el premio Grammy de 1980 al Mejor Paquete de Grabación y también ganó un premio al Mejor Álbum en cuanto a arreglos.

Roger: "Take The Long Way Home" fue una canción que escribí justo antes de entrar al estudio para grabar el álbum. Fue una sorpresa de último momento para mí. La canción tiene un doble significado para mí. En un nivel se trata de tomar el camino más largo a casa hacia la esposa, porque ella te trata como si fueras parte del mobiliario, y en otro nivel, la canción trata de tomar el camino más largo para encontrar ese lugar en nosotros donde nos sentimos como en casa y que yo creo que se encuentra en el corazón. Cuando vivimos la vida desde el corazón, nos sentimos como en casa.

Supertramp "Breakfast in America" LP. I remember as a youth in the 90's playing this from my dad's record collection and being really disappointed with the music on the album because the album cover is so fantastic. I suppose I was hoping it would rock a bit more and maybe be a bit more biting lyrically. I'm not saying the music is shit or anything, I mean, hey, I shelled out for a MFSL copy of the album when you can pick up a good clean copy in any dollar bin... I'm just saying, they always left a lot to be desired.
