Bennett & Cafaro Wichblade - July 2024

Los Angeles, California - April 18, 2024 - Top Cow is reimagining the hit supernatural thriller series Witchblade. The new series, coming July 2024, will be penned by NYT Best-Selling Marguerite Bennett (Animosity, Batwoman, DC Bombshells) and visualized by artist Giuseppe Cafaro (Suicide Squad, Power Rangers, Red Sonja). The creative duo is working with original co-creator Marc Silvestri, who is the CEO of Top Cow Productions Inc. and one of the founders of Image Comics. Together, they will reintroduce the series to Witchblade’s die-hard fans with a reimagined origin with contemporary takes on familiar characters and new story arcs that will hook new readers and rekindle the energy and excitement that fueled the 90’s Image Revolution that shaped generations of top creators.

Marguerite Bennett, who has been focused on writing for the upcoming Butterfly TV Series and Ark: The Animated Series, says, “The ability to tell a ferocious story full of monsters, sexuality, vision, and history was irresistible.” She adds, “Our saga is sleek, vicious, ferocious, and has a lot to say about power in the 21st century and will be the first time that we are stopping the roller coaster to let more people on. I’ve loved Witchblade since I was a child, and there is truly no other heroine like Sara with such an iconic legacy and such a rich, brutal relationship to her own body.”

In Witchblade #1, New York City Police Detective Sara Pezzini's life was forever fractured by her father's murder. Cold, cunning, and hellbent on revenge, Sara now stalks a vicious criminal cabal beneath the city, where an ancient power collides and transforms her into something wild, magnificent, and beyond her darkest imaginings. How will Sara use this ancient power, or will she be consumed by it?

Through last year’s Witchblade Complete Collection Kickstarter, the world received a glimpse of Marc Silvestri’s WitchbladeArmor redesign. But, a whole new universe has been created by Giuseppe Cafaro, who states, “The Witchblade universe is being modernized to reflect how Marguerite beautifully explores the extreme sides of Sara through memories, her personal thoughts, like desire and hunger, in her solitude and when she is possessed by the Witchblade. So, I had to visually intersect a noir True Detective-like world with a supernatural, horror world that is a fantastic mix between Berserk and Zodiac!”

Marc Silvestri notes, “This is brand new mythology around Sara, and I can’t wait for you to fall in love with her and all the twists and turns. Discover Witchblade reimagined this summer, and join us as we bring all the fun of the 90s to the modern age and see how exciting comics can be. I can’t wait for you to read this new series.”

Witchblade #1 will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, July 17th, for $4.99 for 48 pages. The Final Order Cutoff deadline for comic shop retailers is Monday, June 24th, 2024.

So... just talking about crossover ideas again, imagine a Shin Megami Tensei/Top Cow crossover. I say Top Cow because that is the publisher of both Witchblade and The Darkness. The idea crossed my mind when how the suit for the Nahobino and the suit for Sara Pezzini do kinda contrast. For the Nahobino, it looks like spandex, similar to a Power Ranger's suit, while for Sara, the Witchblade takes on a more metallic, armor-like design. Nahobino's blue, white & black vs Sara's red, silver & gold.

I also just noticed that their main "weapon" is connected to their right hands. The sword for the Nahobino while whatever weapon Sara forms from the Witchblade for her. Hell, even though it primarily takes the form of a gauntlet or amulet, the Witchblade's primary weapon is a sword essentially.

I also just had this thought: imagine if the Thirteen Artifacts were able to be used during the Condemnation, but get significantly stronger once that has ended due to the death of the God of Law. Imagine if instead of just the Angelus and the Darkness were super bosses in SMTV Vengeance.

These two would so sick to see! It could be interesting how the whole of the Top Cow universe could be integrated into SMT or vice versa. Imagine the chaos of the not just the Nahobino, but also the Demi-Fiend having to fight either of these two. Two primordial forces with their hosts versus two high school kids with the power of gods.

Going back a bit to the Condemnation, if I integrated the Witchblade, Darkness, and Angelus into SMT, I'd probably make it something like they get hosts since they are primordial forces and are thus not as bound to whatever the God of Law says. Sure, the God of Law could be very powerful, maybe just as strong, but he could only make those Protegenoi weaker, not control them despite wishing to.

Last book I read: I still haven't finished There's No Such Thing as an Easy Job Kikuko Tsumura I started back in January, lmao. Not for any reason other than I just haven't been in the right headspace to sit down and read for the past few months--What I have read of it is great, so hopefully, I can make the time to pick it up again.

Greatest literary inspirations: I like the female protags in Karin Slaughter novels, and I love Tanya Huff's Torin Kerr from her Confederation series--I'm sure they've inspired me on some level. Oh, and Phedre from Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel books, too, although it's been ages since I read those. But I think most of my inspiration actually comes from other forms of media. I love the action babes of the late 90s/early 00s: Lara Croft is the number one inspo here, and pretty much all of Michael Turner's comic girls but especially Sara from Witchblade. And I think Better Call Saul is easily one of the best-written shows ever made--That's one I always go back to when I feel like I need to refill the inspo well.

Things in my current fandoms I want to read but I don't want to write: I have a confession: I usually only read a ton of fic when I first get into a fandom and I can't get enough and I just want to soak it all up, but after a certain point, I just don't have a lot of headspace for other people's stories. 😬 I feel bad about it sometimes, and it's not like I never read anything after that point, but 90% of the time, what I wanna write is what I wanna read. It's kind of a closed loop, I guess.

Things in my current fandoms I want to write but I think nobody would be interested in them but me: Well, I'm not at all deterred by being the only person interested in something I write, haha. One of my favorite one-shots I've ever written is between my Cousland and Hawke meeting briefly at Ostagar, and it's probably my least popular fic on AO3 by a big margin. But I do like deep-diving into my own OCs, and it generally is harder to get an audience for fic that doesn't have canon characters. Ain't gonna stop me, though!

My most controversial take (current fandom): Yeah, no, not gonna be sharing my actual most controversial takes, lmao.

But I do also love the Devil ending! I don't think there's one objectively "best" ending--What's good for one V isn't necessarily good for another--But for my Valerie, it suited her story the best. I love the poetry of her going back to Arasaka after getting fired by them, I love storming Arasaka Tower with Goro, I love the conflict with Johnny, I love making Goro confront how fucked up the Arasakas are, I love the possibilities of Mikoshi--The only way it would have been better for me is if this nixed idea had actually been put into action.

And I wish we could roleplay a V that is actually more "pro"-corpo in the game, especially if we had the corpo lifepath. Sticking it to the man is sexy and all, but I just love delving into characters that align themselves with shitty institutions and exploring different motivations (I personally like cynical pragmatism/self-preservation and delusional idealism) that lead a person there.

What’s your current writing mood (10 – super motivated and churning out words like crazy, 0 – in a complete rut): Like, 0.5, lmao. I've been rereading and organizing my WIPS, so there's some effort being put in there, but I'm very much in one of my "ummmm, how do I even write fiction?" phases.

Share a random frustration: I have ZERO discipline when it comes to writing. I need to be in a fully feral, totally isolated from distractions place or I just can't get shit done. When I'm in the zone, I'm in the fuckin' zone, but I get like 3 months of that every 5 years, lmao.

What up folks! It’s me, y’boi. Been thinking about the Witchblade/Darkness shared universe, and thinking about how I’d go about telling the story, so I spent a few hours putting together some test pages. Not sure if I’ll be continuing this, but I have this vision in my head for a more eldritch interpretation of the Darkness, the Angelus, and the Witchblade, while also telling a more intimate story about Jackie, Sarah, and Jenny, who will be playing host to the Light.

Jackie, Jenny, and Sarah grew up together at St Mary’s Orphanage, where Jenny and Sarah took turns protecting Jackie from bullies, until the later toughened up. Unbeknownst to Sarah and Jackie, their fathers killed one another on the very day Jackie was born. Sarah would later discover this when she became a cop. This is around the time she discovers Jackie’s involvement with Franchetti Crime Family, who have the NYPD in their pocket. Sarah, determined to be the kind of cop she always wanted to be takes it upon herself to take down the Franchetti’s operation by herself, ending with the Witchblade on Sarah’s arm, and and Jackie in his uncle Paulie’s crosshairs.

But yeah, my story would create a difference between the Primordial Darkness, and the Darkness inside of Jackie.

NOBODIES DEATH, ENDY, or ND, real name Ximena or X, is a 26 year old transfem (her preferred pronouns are applied throughout to avoid mixing pronouns including in places when she identified as he/him) rapper, producer, poet, writer, schizoposter, and Santa Muerte devotee from Los Angeles California. She creates dark atmospheric trap music most inline with the American Underground scene.

She started rapping at age 14 on a whim after developing the urge to learn freestyle rapping. She then began writing lyrics after becoming influenced by the Insane Clown Posse and Hollywood Undead to become a rapper. Her early work was never released and mostly served as practice but was heavily influenced by the Horrorcore, Wicked Shit, and Juggalo sound.

At age 16 she was introduced to the $uicideboy$ through a video by the now defunct Obey Vivij and was thus enlightened on the American Underground scene during the beginning of the Soundcloud era.

At age 17 she began producing her own beats out of a desire to not have to understand beat leasing laws and took a detour to become a type beat producer without much success.

At age 18 she learned of Lil Peep through the release of the song Benz Truck which she was made aware of two days after it's music video's release through an upload by the the YouTuber Diaboli

The sing rapping/emo rap aesthetic has been essential to her sound for much of her time making music. This is a primary feature of all her favorite of her own songs and was how she first came to like her own voice in spite of dysphoria (especially pre-transition).

Beyond that she has been interested in Chaos Magick and the occult for years. She frequently takes part in Trance based Sigilization, Saint Work, and various mystic practices like the Jesus Christ prayer and Rosary.

Bubble-Dolls 3 Masane Amaha

Now I know what some of you are thinking, I have something of a strange obsession for Girls a Bubbloids, But For Reign of Water a Storyline for 2020 as the third Sequel to the so called God Trilogy started with All Stars Memories, I decided to do something Different with the Idea to make it more original, In the Reign of Water Timeline Franky Jones's side of the story, While most of the Bubbloids have been taking the tasks as Warrior's Ninja's Spies, There are a majority that live there lives as among some Mermaids in the Villages of the Empire, They use to be Human Females that got converted, They do have something of a Telepathic Link with one another even having Strong connections to there leader that many call The Bubble-Queen. Now this one would be familiar to some of you Witchblade fans out there, For it maybe obvious on the Tag in the middle But Yeah, It's Masane Amaha AKA Ohara Yasuka, She appears when Franky Jones, Negi Springfield, Spider-Man, Pop and Tarte find themselves in a Massive chamber where there are lots of Girls Young and Old inside Sacks full of Liquid, Frank Sees Masane inside one of them and He cuts her down, but she was unconscious so Frank had to carry her to a Life-Boat where they All reached the Surface and They go to an Old Ship-Wreck Where they Find the Water-Worlds version of Grid Along with the Mercenaries (From the Deep Rising Movie) Masane was placed on the gurney so she can Rest, But what Grid See's injection Marks on her Arms, He could Tell She's been injected with the Translucency Serum that Transforms Girls into Bubbloids or as grid Refers to them as The Translucent ones, Masane starts to Change with the People around her being unable to Do anything, Seems When them Girls are in them Sacks The Transformation is pretty Painless for they where being Sedated However on Dry land... It can be Painful like Hell (Like How Sebastian Cain was Becoming invisible in Hollow-Man).
