Haise x Touka ficlet - Sweet Longing
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Haise’s eyes scan the bookcases surrounding his booth, reading the different titles printed across the book spines. Much to his delight, there were some titles he recognised, organised together in a neat row on one of the shelves. He reaches up, touching one of the books – a collection of short poems by the well-known author, Sen Takatsuki – before hearing the pretty waitress approach his table, holding his order in her hand.
“You’re free to read the books on display, if you like.”
He turns to her with a big smile. “Thank you!” He takes a seat, the waitress setting down a cup of black coffee in front of him. “That’s quite the collection you have there.”
She smiles, though she averts her eyes. “Yes, I once knew a good friend that enjoyed reading, especially Sen Takatsuki’s novels.” She brushes back her bangs, her eyes peering up and meeting his. “I guess he influenced me more than I once thought.”
“I see…” Haise lifts his cup, his curiosity prickling at the thought of her supposed friend. He decides not to mention his disapproving opinions of Takatsuki’s novels, not wanting to imply that her friend is a nihilist. “Ah, the coffee is delicious, as always.”
“Thank you.” She responds with a small bow, the corners of her eyes crinkling. She wavers, glancing back at the counter. There’s few customers in the cafe, and looking back at Haise, she opens her mouth to speak. “Are you…”
Haise waits for her to continue, setting down his cup. She presses her lips together and there’s a slight furrow in her brow, her hands tightening into fists. He wants to ask if she’s okay, worried that he has offended her in some way or another, but she unclenches her fists and takes a deep breath, making him pause. Her expression brightens once more, pushing aside any tension she exhibited moments before.
“Are you a teacher? I heard the others refer to you as ‘sensei’.” She asks.
He’s taken aback at first, but not wanting to cause her any more grief, he smiles, nodding his head. “Of sorts, yes. More like a mentor, I guess. Or a superior? Truth be told, I sometimes think of myself as a mother more than a teacher.”
The waitress giggles, her laughter sending a flurry of electrifying joy through him. He feels his cheeks grow warm and he responds with a wobbly smile of his own, bashfully rubbing the back of his head. It is such a simple thing, to hear her laugh, and yet, it is a sight he wants to press permanently into his mind. He wants to hear her laugh more, to bring joy in her day-to-day life, even if just a little. If asked why, he would be unable to give a concise answer, but it is a sentiment he feels certain about.
“I can somehow imagine that.” She confesses. She tilts her head to one side and presses a finger against her chin. “If I may ask, are you also caring for another lady in your life? A wife, perhaps?”
Haise’s blush deepens into a deep, burning red and he vigorously shakes his head, immediately dismissing the notion. “N-No, not at all!” He insists, feeling strangely embarrassed. “I’m far too busy to go on dates.” He then tenses, shaking his head again. “I-I mean, that’s not entirely– I mean, I’m not that busy. I just–”
“I see.” The waitress smirks, and for a moment, Haise wonders if she looks pleased with his answer. He hopes so. “In that case,” she walks around the table, dragging her fingertips lightly across the table’s surface. “Do you have any…preferences when it comes to women, sensei?”
Haise gulps. Her eyes watch him intently, stripping him away until he is left a quivering mess beneath her gaze. If she were to do anything to him at this moment, regardless of what it may be, he is not certain he could stop her. Her power over him is incredible, and for whatever reason, he willingly wants to surrender himself to this power of hers, no matter the price.
“I like…”
The door to the cafe opens and at the entrance is two of Haise’s students – Mustuki and Saiko. The waitress is already turning away to greet them, their intrusion shattering any chance of continuing their strangely intimate conversation. He sits up, straightening his tie, and asks them what they’re doing in the cafe. The waitress takes his cup and moves back to the counter. He couldn’t bring himself to tell her that he hadn't finished drinking the coffee.
“Mamman!” Saiko leaps towards him, hugging his waist. “Miss Akira said there is an emergency meeting.” She looks up, pouting. “And I’m really hungry. Really, really hungry.”
“Ok, ok.” Haise sighs, patting her head. He looks up to Mutsuki, who is staring at the waitress working behind the bar. There’s a hint of sadness in his expression. “Are you okay, Mutsuki?”
Mutsuki flinches and looks back at the two, waving a hand. “Ah, I’m fine! We should leave soon, though.”
“Right.”
Standing, he looks back at the waitress, longing for a chance to continue their conversation. His heart is still beating rapidly, intoxicated by everything that drew him to her – her beauty, her sweet aroma, her imposing confidence, always lurking beneath the surface of polite friendliness. Then there is the strange familiarity of it all, which brought with it a sense of comfort that could only be found within this cafe. Regardless of the reason, it continues to pull him back towards her, where she waits patiently with his order, a knowing look in her eye. Has she known him in his previous life, before losing all of his memories? It mattered little, in the end. Either way, he will return, unable to resist the temptation of seeing her again, of exchanging light conversation that hinted to something more, of seeing her laugh and smile. This much he knew.
“Come on, let’s go.”
. . .
Touka sits in the staff room, leaning her elbows against her knees and her head bowed forward. She lifts one hand, holding the handkerchief she offered to Kaneki – no, Haise – the first day he visited the cafe. He had washed it and returned it to her the second time he visited, apologising profusely for his ‘inappropriate behaviour’. She scoffs at the memory, wanting to pinch his ear and reprimand him for being overly contrite. It is certainly one of his worst habits. Instead, she insisted that he had done nothing wrong and accepted the handkerchief graciously, offering him a coffee in return.
But now, holding it in her hand, she wished he had kept it instead. It feels far too heavy in her hand, the soft fabric soaked in the remorse and agony that dwelled deep within her heart. She clenches her hand, crumpling the handkerchief, and is tempted to throw it away, bitterly tossing aside this constant reminder of her failures. She eventually loosens her grip, however, sighing and shoving it back into her breast pocket. In the end, she is unwilling to part with it, even while its painful weight presses down against her heart. Not yet, not now. Not while he’s still alive.
She stands up from her seat, brushing down her skirt and apron, and readies herself for the next shift.

Had an idea about who would be Ghost Spider's rival turned friend similar to Batman And Superman. Then an OC character inspired by Akiba Maid War called Phantom Maid would be the answer. Phantom Maid mini bio: Real Name: Jasmine Takahashi Age: 22 Occupation: Maid at the Oniky Doink Cafe in Akihabara Mini Bio: Raised in an orphanage outside of Tokyo. Jasmine begrudgingly works in the Oniky Doink Maid Cafe to pay off damages done due to an attempted break-in. One day she stumbled on the secret Akiba Maid War of 99. Under the mentorship of Nagomi Wahira Jasmine dons the Phantom Maid. Despite the "I don't care" attitude she has, Jasmie is very vigilant. Ghost-Spider Bio Real Name: Carlota "Charlie" Luz Morales-Stacy Age: 21 Occupation: Journalist for Watson Mysteries podcast Mini Bio: Daughter of Miles and Gwen Morales-Stacy. Charlie is the new Ghost-Spider after her mother Gwen officially retires from being Ghost-Spider. Charlie has sharp spider sense that is near psychic. Charlie is very methodical in nature. Question how would these two meet and will they put aside their differences. @ghostflowerweek2023 @ghostflowerhotpotch

The wandering boy (ep 1,7,9,11)
This anime is showing how gender is a social construct. In the first episode, Nitori asks himself “what are little girls made of” or “what are little boys made of” questioning the definition of gender. Nitori is a boy who loves dressing as a girl, he feels comfortable and happy dressing as a girl. We have Sarahina who on the first day of class decided to dress in a boy uniform because she felt like it today. Sure, people were initially shocked but eventually got over it. Then, there’s Takatsuki that wants to dress in a boy's uniform and was encouraged by sarahina. When she came to school dressed in a male uniform, she eventually got compliments on how good she looked. Wow, the f-ing hypocrisy. However, this wasn’t the same experience for Nitori. He was stopped by the teachers and his parents picked him up. Children started to bully him calling him Tranny and prohibiting him from entering the classroom and he had to isolate himself in the nurse's office.
Let’s talk about the attitudes of his family, friends, and “girlfriend”. His sister already knew about his cross-dressing and hated this “hobby” but at the same time cared for him. His mom had disappointed and had a negative reaction. However, I am not certain about his dad's reaction. Takatsuki wasn’t as supportive of Nitori's decision of cross-dressing to school and didn’t see how different people treated Nitori at first. Anna and Ariga, Nitori’s girlfriend and friend, was accepting of Nitori’s cross-dressing but distance themselves once people bully him. Nitori had the right to be upset about how people reacted and treated him. Firstly, Sarahina and Takatsuki never got harsh treatment when they dressed in a boy uniform. Second of all, he had positive reactions when he dresses up for his friends, so he believed that they lied about their reactions when others reacted so badly.
Let’s talk about how the students wanted to do a gender-blending maid cafe and play. They were so accepting if gender blending was an act or for fun but if a boy wants to dress as a girl it is socially wrong! Hell with them!!!

The room was as silent as it was dark.
The scar on your shoulder still flared with a certain fantom pain, even if the tissue and muscle were no longer there.
Obviously, Kaneki wasn’t coming like he has promised. After what happened, the half ghoul avoided you like the plague. It was such an odd occurrence because you felt that you both started connecting on a new level. It was magical, until it turned bloody and viscous.
But you knew who he was with.
Touka.
It had always been frustrating being second to Touka but now the sting of jealously was making its way all the way to your half broken heart. Kaneki talked about her constantly; how she had given him a hard time to make him stronger, showed how passionate she was for humans, just like he was.
It was hard to compete with a girl who understood his hunger. After all, you are merely a human. She was a ghoul, he would never mistakenly take a bite out of her.
Kaneki had known the purple haired woman longer, she had been through all of his troubles. Which meant, Touka knew him better than you. What chance did you have with receiving any of his love? None.
He had lost a part of himself when his body almost gave out under that steel beam. When he tried to find himself, she was there. Always helping and guiding him in a way you never could. She had the first hand experience of his irrational situation and handled it better than you could imagine.
You encountered him at a book signing. Sen Takatsuki had rented out your favorite cafe for a book signing a few months before spring. The weather was still a bit chilly and you decided to bundle up to keep away a cold.
His first words were, “Sen Takatsuki will have no idea what her biggest fan looks like until you take off a couple layers.”
At first you were taken off guard, he was such a beautiful stranger. You shook off the awkward silence to give the male a shallow giggle.
“I’m sure she’ll remember a face like yours before mine.” You murmured, clearly surprised at yourself for saying such a thing out loud.
Kaneki’s lips curled into a small smile. It was genuine but something was shaded behind those rosy and plump lips.
“I guess me and her have less in common than I thought.” His voice hummed into your ears, giving you a soft stomach ache. The feeling of butterflies creeping up into your throat didn’t mange to keep the blush off your cheeks. “My name is Ken Kaneki by the way.”
His eyes filled with sweetness. The silvery orbs watered over with a soft happiness. The sadness was still apparent but you didn’t want to ruin his small amount of pleasure.
“What is your favorite novel of hers, Kaneki?” You questioned quickly, still flustered by his politeness.
His small but bulky body turned to stand beside you, the line still unmoving. “The black sheep. It’s fascinating looking into a serial killers mind.”
You hadn’t realized it yet, but it was true. Not a moment succeeding him leaving your side, you purchased that very novel.
You would never admit it to him, but you found many similarities between the main character in Sen’s book compared to Kaneki. But Kaneki was also the most selfless person you’d ever met. The male cared about others more than he ever bothered to be concerned about himself.
A few days after meeting Kaneki at the cafe, he suddenly appeared at your tempt job at your publishing company.
He was ragged, breathless and barely standing.
“Oh my god! Are you okay, Kaneki?” You leaped out of your chair at lightening speed to catch him.
As your eyes searched his face, you saw the garnet eye flashing back at you. It took every bit of your composure not to scream and leave him lying on the tile floor.
“I didn’t want you to see me like this.” Kaneki’s voice croaked. “But I had to see you again.”
Shock took over all your senses. A man you only met once wanted so desperately to see you again that he tracked you down and showed every vulnerable part of himself to you.
“Shh..It’s okay. I’m taking you to my house to clean your wounds.” You demanded. Either he knew not to quarrel with you or that’s what he wanted because no arguments were mentioned.
As soon as you had gotten him into a comfortable position on the couch, you cleaned his cuts. He didn’t even wince at the alcohol running into his flesh. It only made you more curious as to what this man had been through before meeting you.
Ever since then, you could feel yourself falling for the white headed male at an alarming rate. You couldn’t help but think about all the times after the incense when he had shown up to your apartment; bloodshot eyes and swollen eyelids, covered in blood and seeking company from you.
It was always the same routine, you cleaned him up, made him good as new. A few witty banter to make you both forget about the violent air that surrounded Kaneki. But after the first few times Kaneki visited you, things began to feel different. You anticipated his arrival at any time, with new dresses and soft makeup. You had never been much of a makeup guru but you wanted him to perceive you in the same light you started to envision him in.
Only, he had perceived you in an even higher way. He knew how much he was falling for you. How every thought ran straight forward, to you. But he was frightened by his new nature. He couldn’t control himself around you, it was as if you were the best smelling meat he’d ever had the opportunity to be around.
Yet, he still let himself fall. He kept seeing you, because you were the only person he wanted to help him. The only woman to see him so real.
He even made love to you. Caressing you in so many ways that he only dreamed of. Kissing, licking and biting you in every place that made you moan in pleasure, until he couldn’t control himself.
You smelt too good. It wasn’t enough to restrain himself anymore.
That’s when he knew, he couldn’t hurt you anymore. He had risked your life and he wouldn’t ever do it again.
Even if that meant he would be lonely for the rest of his life, filling every waking moment thinking of your cheeky smile and dimples. Of your small hands and low laugh, even of your cold nature and bundles of clothes.
Now all that was left for them both was a silent and dark life without one another.
