WIP Wednesday

ive been working on my former-child-star Jake/nepo-baby-rockstar Bradley fake dating/friends-with-benefits hangster fic a lot this week and im loving where it’s going so here’s some pining idiots.

it’s late so im not gonna tag anyone, but if you have something you’re excited about, consider this your tag!

“Okay, give me the full picture. What are you wearing?” Bradley asks, his voice low in the receiver.

Jake barks out a laugh. “Not that kind of call.”

“You could still tell me,” Bradley responds, and Jake can hear the pout in his voice. He refuses to admit that it makes him smile.

He sighs. “Sweatpants and a t-shirt.”

“And how tight is the t-shirt?”

Jake grins. Fuck, he likes him so goddamn much. “Tight enough.”

“You’re so bad at this,” Bradley says with feigned exasperation. “Can we switch to FaceTime?”

Jake hesitates for a moment. “Um, can we talk first?” he asks, his fingers tapping out an erratic beat where they rest on the countertop.

Bradley is silent for a second. “…Sure.”

“It’s just… I have to talk to you about something, and I don’t want to see your face when I do it.”

“Sounds ominous,” Bradley responds, his voice flat and even.

“I got an invite to Logan Lee’s wedding.”

“Who the fuck is Logan Lee?”

“I thought you binged Baby On Board?”

“I watched your scenes.”

Jake blushes. This is why he hates FaceTiming Bradley. “Logan played my brother.”

“Which brother? Wasn’t the whole premise the big adopted family?”

“Well he wasn’t the baby, Bradley, that kid’s only like five years old now.”

“Oh, sweetheart, do I have bad news for you about the passage of time.”

Jake bites back a smile. Asshole. “Anyway, he played my ‘twin,’” Jake says, calling back the not-actually-funny-but-the-laughtrack-thought-it-was-hilarious running joke on the show, since their characters were adopted the same year.

“Oh. That one.”

He rolls his eyes. “Yeah. Anyway. The wedding is in two months. In Italy. You’re my plus one, if you want to come.”

Bradley is silent for a moment before he carefully asks, “You want me to go with you?”

“You’re named on the invitation, Bradley. And as far as everyone is concerned, we’ve been in a relationship for the last two and a half years.”

“I mean, you can tell them I’m busy, I won’t be offended if you don’t want me there. Could make photos awkward.”

Jake rolls his eyes. “I’ll have more fun with you there. But you don’t have to. I know you’re on tour—“

“Tour ends in a month,” Bradley says, cutting him off. “I’ll be there.”

Jake feels betrayed by the hopeful feeling swelling in his chest, by the grin that takes over his face, by the way he knows Bradley can hear it when he confirms with an uncertain, “Yeah?”

“Yeah. Now switch to FaceTime and take your pants off.”

hey. what if billie's actions towards team free will (like her refusing to let jack go in order to goad dean into attacking her) were her just acting out the death book plan, knowing that she and cas weren't in the story so both of them had to go. (i DONT think. this was the intended read and it might not be the most interesting read but i just keep thinking about it)

I would also like to direct you to several post-canon fix-it fics that I've written that explore similar concepts... partly because YES i have obsessed about Billie and her relationship to the books of fate, her role in Chuck's Grand Plan, etc., and how all of that shook out (or COULD have shaken out... can i tell you I'm still mad about Billie's ending and what it means for the universe? because I am so mad on her behalf).

anyway, YES i love this concept, and I'm glad I'm not alone in pondering it... but for starters can I refer you to the fic one working part, partly because Billie features prominently and it's a rewrite of the events of 15.19 with (I think) a hella better ending for everyone. but also partly because i've been writing a follow up fic based on the events of that story that I'm hoping to post by the weekend that asks some questions about Chuck's writing in the aftermath of his control over the universe. so thank you for the excuse to self-promote lol!

The playlist has really helped me stay engaged with a story that's taken a long time to write. Choosing songs also me figure out vibes, and songs for later scenes are good motivation to actually get there. After a grueling battle with Tenkai, Yaorochi finds themself being bathed by Sukune. They don't understand why Sukune would do such a thing. Much less that look on their face...

Been a bit, hasn't it been? I'm not entirely back yet, but the returning of spring does mean I am much more motivated than before. So to start getting myself back into the swing of things, have at you a simple YaoSuku hurt/comfort fic about Sukune bathing Yaorochi.

I have an ongoing webcomic called saving the dead which is about the alien daughter of an evil ruler of planet Cora 6. A planet which was at war with earth for a while, Their dad eventually destroys earth entirely but eventually lux finds out that all of the humans who now lived there are now ghosts!

Not to mention there’s also lgbtq and neurodivergent rep all coming from my personal experience as a queer autistic person!

How many works do you have on ao3?

30… I'm quite proud of the fact that I've made so many, and 29 of them in just 2½ years (granted, most of them are quite short, but there are a few longer ones in between)

2. What's your Ao3 word count?

272,066… Holy Force, according to a quick google search, that equates to about 3 average novels, damn.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Star Wars, mostly the prequel trilogy. I have two “older” Yu-Gi-Oh fics.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

1. Rain with 298 kudos. This is actually my newest story and in just a week after I posted it, it had overtaken all my other works (I guess people like it). It's cute fluffy and smutty obikin, where our boys get stranded and given a small but much-needed holiday.

2. ‘Com’Passion with 280 kudos. I can't hide the fact that my guilty pleasure is threesomes. This one is smut with a lot of emotion, involving two experienced masters (Mace and Obi-Wan) taking Anakin to their bed after he walks in on them.

3. Nanika the daughter of the Force with 279 kudos. This fic, where Anakin is sent back in time as a woman, is my baby and biggest challenge.

4. Hearts' desires with 263 kudos. Sweet, smutty obikin with too much plot, featuring Anakin and Obi-Wan's first time together.

5. All I want for Christmas with 211 kudos. This is last year's tooth-rottingly cute and fluffy Christmas fic, where Obi-Wan returns home and realizes he can't escape Anakin and Padmé's love.

5. Do you respond to comments?

Always! (It can sometimes take a few days if RL is demanding my attention) Commenting is the lifeblood of fandom, and it's through commenting that I've found many of my friends here.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Um, I have a few that could compete for that title... but I'd have to say Fallen, it's short, ambiguous and it hurts so much. I have others equally angsty, my very first SW fic In The End is also very angsty.

7. What's the fic your write with the happiest ending?

All I want for Christmas, it is just SO happy that it is nauseating (I got fluff poisoning writing it)

8. Do you get hate on fics?

No, and I'm very grateful for that. I have a few people asking if I'm going to continue with Nanika soon... I will, promise!

9. Do you write smut? What kind?

Yes, I do... I don't know if it's a specific type... but it's not very kinky (I love reading all kinds of smut, I'm just not brave enough to write it yet)

10. Do you write cross-overs?

I have a few faint bunnies in deep freeze, but they're not very detailed and most likely won't be written… so no, but never say never.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nop, but I'm considering translating back one of my own stories at some point, just for the fun of it.

13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

I have. I wrote The Jedi and the darksider together with my sweet heart Zolita. It was an inspiring and challenging experience to write Melany and Zaya's story.

14. What's your all time favourite ship?

Obikin (I can't deny it), BUT they are not my only love, and I will happily let them take a third to bed with them at any given opportunity.

15. What's your WIP you like to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Pirates of the Galaxy, and it is a damn shame!

16. What are your writing strength?

I've been told that I'm good at writing atmosphere, and admittedly, it's one of my favorite things to write, so it's not really surprising. Haunt me for a year is testament to that.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Dialogue... I struggle with it every single time, but I'm stubborn and will keep practicing so that maybe one day I'll feel like I've gotten good at it.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?Probably not dialogue, but I'm toying with the idea of writing spells in other languages, preferably old Sith, there's just not much known Sith language.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Yu-Gi-Oh, back in 2016 before I stumbled into the SW fandom and got lost in the galaxy far far away.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

I love them all, they all have a very special place in my heart and it is almost impossible to chose, but I will say Tave Jen’drajuna; the dark family is just… it is me.

21. What fic would you want to rewrite one day.

My very first long fic Light and darkness. I still love the idea of vampire Sith Anakin, but I was so inexperienced when I wrote it and even though I adore the story the writing could be better.

“Baby on Board,” he clarifies, swallowing his mouthful of chicken and risotto, speaking with his mouth full like the caveman he is, and Jake is regrettably charmed. “Not the show, the whole… ‘I’m Jake Seresin, and you’re watching Disney Channel’ thing.” He does a perfect imitation of Jake’s bumper, his inflection flawless, and Jake groans.

“Why did you watch that?

Rooster shrugs. “I thought it was cute. The floppy 2000’s hair, the long sleeve t-shirt under the short sleeve t-shirt under the vest, the tie for some reason, the bedazzled jeans…”

“Okay, they weren’t bedazzled, they were embellished. And it was trendy at the time.”

Alex questioned his own decision to accompany Henry to a charity polo match, but also knew deep down it wasn’t entirely his decision. Although he was very much not under the crown’s control, Henry was stepping back from royal duties more and more by the day, and both of them wished the intense media coverage of them would end, he also knew he occasionally needed to play the part of boyfriend to the Prince of Wales. If he was honest with himself, he didn’t actually regret agreeing to attend. He just preferred watching Henry at practice. There, he didn’t feel the need to look interested in the game or worry someone from the press would make up a ridiculous story.
