To be frankly honest i don’t think pride parades would be his thing? it’s very loud and lots of people which i think would make him a little nervous.

just hold his hand while you’re there ok? he’s doing his best even being there and having you beside him all the time will just make him feel slightly more at ease.

He will make sure you have fun even though it’s not really his thing and who knows maybe he’ll warm up to it by the end? i think he likes the idea of it, just not all the people there.

This boy is in his element! he’s probably in some crazy outfit and asked you to give him the most sparkly makeup look ever and he is definitely in the parade.

He’s his normal hyper self, but 10 times worse. he’s running around the place, like a dog that has the zoomies type shit. nobody give him sugar under any circumstances..

Soda is going to make like 17 friends and then invite them all back to the house for another party so be ready for that. also, remind him to hydrate because he will forget.

Dallas

He won’t be in a cool outfit he’ll in his leather jacket and jeans, but maybe you can get him to wear a pin.

He will be kinda uninterested tbh but he will let you drag him around all day. and hey, maybe it’ll grow on him over time you never know.

The only time that he’ll leave your side is if he spots some homophobes, then he’ll start a fight as we know Dallas does so just, keep an eye on him. or don’t and join the fight, whatever works for you 🤷‍♂️

Two-Bit

He’s “there for the drink and only the drink.” is what he tells you but he still gets you to help him pick a nice outfit and paint his nails for him. once you get there the drink becomes his second priority.

Two actually really enjoys himself in the end but he has a habit of wandering off so be careful. He will be flirting with everyone he sees unless you tell him you’re not comfy with that then he’ll stop

He probably brought a disposable camera with him so a few days later he’ll have a picture of all the people he spoke with and all the memories you made

Was probably dragged along by soda. If you want him to wear something for the occasion you should sneak into his room the night before and decorate one of his sleeveless denim jackets. he gives me the vibe that he’d rather DIY his outfit rather than buy it.

Same as soda he will be 10 times more hyper and he would be showing off his gymnastics talent doing flips off cars and stuff.

He would be similar to dallas though since as soon as he spotted a homophobe he would right there to beat them up. nobody ruins this day for him.

I don’t think it’s Johnnys thing to go to a parade so he’d either go but be slightly terrified of everyone or he would let you go with your other friends and stay behind.

if he stayed behind though he’d love to hear everything about your day once you got home. then you two would go to the cinema together.

I've been wanting to make this for a little while now,, but I wanna know people's opinions and headcanons on the Hinata family. This is also kinda piggybacking off my last post,, Since we have seen Shoyo's mother, and we've seen Natsu, obviously, but we haven't seen his dad. I've seen a lot of stuff, yk, the regular deadbeat/not in their life, I've seen dead, I've seen divorced, etc. A hc for his dad I've never seen before tho is that he's in like jail or smth, so if anyone finds that interesting, there's that 🤷‍♂️ but I want headcanons for Hinata family angst :333 every time you search for it on here it's just "pov: y/n breaks up with shoyo :(" like no stfu and get out I don't want that,,, Anywhoooo I actually find it interesting where one of, if not both of his parents kinda suck, and I personally think if you were to create a Hinata family angst situation it'd most realistically be like Young Sheldon, in which Shoyo is Missy, fighting for attention, and Natsu is Sheldon. Not because she's smart or anything lol just because she's the baby of the family and she's favored more. I think that would make sense. He loves the attention from his teammates and gets along with players so well because he wants someone to love him. I've heard that there's a light novel where he mentions his dad working really late, which would still make sense and stuff, but tbh idk if that's real. OR OR OR his mom not having any faith in his volleyball skills, begging him not to go to Karasuno because it's so far, telling him not to be disappointed when they lose (out of pure love and concern ofc). Being too busy to go to games because she has to work to provide for him and Natsu, but just assuming they lost because it's Karasuno. A headcanon I have for his mom is that she works from home, but like from really early to really late, just so that she can be at home for Natsu because "shoyo can handle himself". He probably makes dinner for everyone, too, because his mom is so busy with work that she can't cook. He acts childish at school and with his friends because he's treated like an adult at home. And this isn't even meant to be an evil mom situation, yk? It's just that their circumstances are really unfortunate; single mom with two kids, on low income and is unknowingly putting a lot of stress onto her son. But on a lighter note, on the days she has work off, she takes shoyo and natsu to get ice cream!! She does try to be in their lives, like when shoyo brings her her dinner, she asks him how his day was (he says "good" and leaves it at that). He doesn't want to bother his mom, so he rants to his teammates and classmates (who are annoyed by this), and while she does occasionally offer to listen to him rant all about his day or his problems, he declines because she already has so much to do. That would be the main reason it's so unfortunate; he's really humble and kind and doesn't want to be a burden on his hard-working mother, but his mother doesn't try hard enough to be in his life; she asks and doesn't try any harder when he declines, as if it's not obvious he wants to say something, but is holding back. God, this started out about his father, and now it's all about his mom. Anyways! There's not enough angst fics out there, I've looked through every tag, and there's so little. God, I could make so many posts about hinata angst!!

What has been the BL that took you by surprise this year?

KINNPORSCHE mostly (and I've listed one more as a surprise bonus...)

Yes, I'm aware it's arguably not even a BL, but I went into it thinking it was BL-ish and came out the other side (of every episode, and also the whole thing) with a guilty smile and brows furrowed going to myself "What in hell even was that?" which I think pretty much sums up the whole experience.

In some ways it never lived up to the (second, post-Filmania) trailer and in some ways it surpassed it. Which is also the KinnPorsche formula of simultaneously giving you so much more than you expected and letting you down at the same time.

I had high hopes for this one, when it came out of the blue and whacked me upside the back of my head with its theme song that encapsulated the series so well and mindblowing action sequences popping off everywhere. And when I was down with COVID earlier this year I had an essay all ready to complete when the names, imagery and set elements together seemed to point to underlying themes drawing from Thai, Hindu-Buddhist and Chinese mythological traditions (with warring nagas, fiery phoenixes and powerful water dragons).

But a few episodes in, it became clear that none of those ideas, firmly embedded in the early writing, were ever going to go anywhere. Sadly, it looks like they were sacrificed for juicier, baser denominators geared for mass market appeal instead.

So yes, KP took me by surprise (not in a totally good way); it was wanting in so many aspects. (For example – as astutely pointed out by @miscellar – where are the women? When they do appear, more often than not they steal the show – e.g., Erika my beloved gun librarian, also the beautiful assassin who tries to off Kinn at the costume soirée, and Porsche's mom as well. But they exist just to further the male leads' storylines, and so KP fails the Bechdel test miserably.) Still, I learnt to leave my expectations by the door and appreciate KinnPorsche for its own madcap, inconsistent merits, whenever they poked their heads out of the torrent of sensory overload. And a lot of the acting was good, even with the first-timers, which is more than can be said for some of the stuff coming out of GMMTV.

My brow is still furrowed, and my smile is still guilty, but at least KP makes me smile.

OK, a side shout-out also to another drama that was a pleasant surprise instead – and that was Heartstopper. Not Asian, not strictly BL either, but oh so well done. 😍 (More on this later.)

What has been the BL that you felt a bit disappointed with this year?

VICE VERSA and THE ECLIPSE

It's the curse of Bad Buddy – little else is going to measure up. I still haven't finished Vice Versa or The Eclipse for this reason I suspect. Both felt a little off to me – Vice Versa was playing it too light while The Eclipse went all dark and heavy (and then started to plod) and I just wasn't ready. It's not that I think they're bad – I'd just rather be rewatching BBS. 🤷‍♂️

I may go back to them again (I should for The Eclipse because it's *important*) but I don't know when.

I didn't put KinnPorsche down here because KP doesn't do things by half-measures – so when it disappointed me, I wasn't just "a bit disappointed", it was roaring disappointment. But that then got drowned out by the bits I did enjoy so much as well. SMH here 🤦‍♂️

What has been your favourite BL this year?

BAD BUDDY!!! OK, also gotta mention HEARTSTOPPER and OLD FASHION CUPCAKE

This whole blog of mine is about Bad Buddy, so I'm not writing up any more about it here, except to say that it's powerful, intelligent, socially aware but also always kind at heart. 😍

Heartstopper was a genuinely excellent all-rounder, but with a gay romance at its heart so I'm calling it a BL. Radiating with positivity, I just know it's doing good in the world (especially for anyone growing into their LGBTQ+ identity).

It doesn't have to be all doom and gloom on the journey to finding your fullest, authentic self, and Heartstopper shows that the path we tread can hold life-affirming moments too, even as it shines its light on the darker corners of the road that takes us there.

Old Fashion Cupcake wasn't on my radar at first but it was everything you want (OK, that I want) a classic BL to be – gentle, sweet and heartfelt with just a touch of pining and angst.

Solid performances from the leads and a masterful restraint with the writing. Plus desserts everywhere, which is also a comment on expectations heaped on masculinity in Japanese culture.

So it still managed to be gently subversive in its messaging if you could get past the fluffy, sweet frosting on the surface. Such delicacy and intelligence in the way it was edited down to the bare, spare essentials, just enough to satisfy the hunger it elicited, but that still managed to deliver moments that somehow also felt sumptuous and indulgent too.

It's a cliché, but that there's just something about OFC, like a meticulously-crafted kaiseki, that feels so very Japanese in its essence. And you can't help but feel blessed and honored (and cleansed) for having partaken of it.

Favourite BL couples (not just of 2022)?

PAT & PRAN, KUROSAWA & ADACHI, MAX & TUL, plus a few more...

PatPran from Bad Buddy of course make my list, and Kurodachi from Cherry Magic too. And the OG BL couple MaxTul! The rest aren't really sticking out too strongly in my mind. 🤷‍♂️

OK I did like Lovely Writer's Gene and Nubsib, and oddly enough also their "straight" side couple Tiffy and Tum (especially when I found out that the beautiful Zorzo is apparently queer IRL):

And I did like Ohm and Singto in He's Coming to Me, but now after BBS that feels a little dated and... adulterous? 😂

Just for spice, I should add that I have some pretty strong non-canon ships in my head involving KinnPorsche's Daddy Chan (the chief bodyguard, played by Peter Knight) and Gun Theerapanyakul (Vegas' dad, played by Ex Piya Vimuktayon), and also Pran's dad (A Passin Reungwoot) in Bad Buddy. 😜

If you had to suggest a BL for someone what would it be?

Bad Buddy tops the list, but would also put forward He's Coming to Me, Old Fashion Cupcake, and Tale of a Thousand Stars. All solid, strong dramas that can pretty much stand on their own and be appreciated in their own right, without needing you to lean too much into the BL genre. Maybe Together with Me, out of loyalty to MaxTul, though the girlfriend/villain is a bit triggering for me. I do like bestie Yihwa though, and she balances out Plern Pleng somewhat.

What's your non-BL favourite for this year?

Ah, that would be 55:15 NEVER TOO LATE. Good performances from both generations, interesting premise and themes tackled.

One proviso though: the BBS curse struck again and I have yet to finish this! (Yes I'm aware it's about as old as Bad Buddy.) I hope it finishes strong. (Would take a lot to screw it up.)

i noticed you mentioning this in the tag, so in case no one has told you: censoring thing on tumblr isn't really a thing! generally, it's preferred that nothing is censored, because that'd circumvent the filtering, so if someone has, say, pasta filtered, if you censor the word, their filter wouldn't catch it, and they'd end up seeing pasta (lmao)

personally, i do sometimes censor words, but only when it's stuff like ship hate (censoring the ship so said shippers won't see) or stuff i don't want in the tag. tho, that's only IN the post. tags are just generally not censored 🤷‍♂️

i was referring to like, how tumblr no longer shows posts for certain tags. like, if you go into the search and type "nsfw" nothing will show up. so i was scared that applied to the gore tag too and if that carried over into other tags... cause i think ppl going into the corpse party tag are not going to be phased by things also tagged as gore, but i wasnt sure if it would even show because it Was tagged with gore LOL hopefully this makes sense. (either way, it seems i was wrong about the gore tag being censored like the nsfw tag)

✨ fic ideas for sale ✨ aka a high school AU in which Olli is a Good Christian Boy™ and the others..less so 😏 Beware of every possible BC fic cliché you can imagine! 😂

(inspired by the tags I saw for this or this post, I can't find the reblog anymore but I SWEAR someone joked about Olli being a good Christian boy and thus all 😳 upon hearing someone mention the devil lol

So Olli's the son of a conventional, proper Christian family, and all through his life he's lived according to the Christian values because that's all he's ever known, alright? And idk, for maximum contrast he might have gone to some Christian school when he was younger?

However, in high school he meets a bunch of fascinating personalities 👀

Well, Joonas is actually a childhood friend and a next-door-neighbour. Olli's parents never approved of the Porkos' bohemian lifestyle and are not pleased about Olli hanging out with Joonas, but the Porkos are just so darn nice that it's impossible to hate them (for instance, they invite the Matelas for barbecues, Joonas' father often helps them plow the snow off their yard with his truck, and it is on rare occasions that Olli leaves for home empty-handed, for Joonas' mother is always baking and she's apparently quite bad at estimating how many apple pies her family can eat). Olli has always loved spending time at Joonas' house because there he's gets to do and see stuff that has never been allowed at his own home, such as certain kinds of music and movies. Video games have always been frowned upon by Olli's parents as well, which is why Olli savours the rare moments he gets to stay at Joonas' a little later to play [insert some cool video game] while his parents are at a gathering at their friends'

Joel is the stereotypical Bad Boy™ because of course he is, and Olli knows his parents would hate it if they knew their son associated with someone like Joel, but he's Olli's lab partner and they often hang out during recess after the chemistry class. Sometimes Joel even sneaks them out in the middle of the class by volunteering to fetch some more test tubes or flasks from the storage room down the hall as a pretext for going for a smoke in the boys' room (Olli thinks smoking is a bit icky, but he must admit Joel looks sorta cool doing it, leaning against the window frame, and despite their differences he really likes chatting with Joel. Sometimes Joel hums a simple tune, and Olli can't help but wonder how good a singer he actually is)

Niko is the guy in Olli's religion class who's always challenging everything the teacher tells them, often to the point the teacher threatens to throw him out of the classroom if he opens his mouth one more time. Olli doesn't necessarily agree with all of Niko's arguments, but he finds his world view endlessly fascinating and is always listening to his reasoning attentively. This, of course, does not go unnoticed by Niko, who sometimes ends his speeches by winking at Olli, which always makes him blush a little (=a lot) 😳 (Olli would love to hear more about Niko's opinions, but he's too shy to approach him outside the class or at the marching band practice where they both play the violin)

(side note: Finnish high schools don't really have marching bands but humour me a little here ok)

Aleksi is a fellow Good Christian Boy™ who runs the kids' Bible group at their church with Olli and sings in the church choir with him as well...buuuuuuut he also sells weed and gives blowjobs during recess 🤷‍♂️ (don't ask Olli how he knows this, he doesn't like to talk about it, and anyway it's none of Olli's business). Aleksi's parents haven't got a clue about the double life their son is leading, although they had their suspicions when Aleksi one day came home with his hair dyed black (he got away with it by a carefully practiced speech about how the black colour symbolises the passion of the Christ and helps him connect with J-man even better)

Tommi, for some reason, sits next to Olli in most of the classes they share and they're often assigned as partners for projects. Tommi is an atheist and doesn't make a fuss about it, but he's always prepared for a debate with Olli's father whenever he is over at Olli's house to work on a course assignment. Olli is always a little embarrassed, because when his father gets going, it's almost impossible to shut him up, but when Olli finally manages to rescue Tommi and drag him to his room to apologize on his father's behalf, Tommi merely shrugs and says they had an excellent conversation.

So, what's the plot of this story? Who's the main love interest? Are these all separate stories? Or perhaps Olli falls a little bit in love with all of them? Who knows, not I! 😂

In any case, the possibilites are endless:

Childhood friends-to-lovers Olli/Joonas, complete with video game session interrupted my making out? Hell yeah! 💞

He wrote the journal for himself and then left it to the boys as a sort of jump starter when he had to send them off alone.

The fact that sometimes whole lists of victims appear in the journal speaks for the fact that this might not be everything.

John also didn't mention anything about the hunt with Jo's dad. That hunt still happened, even though it's not in the journal.

He doesn't have more reason to write about vamps than about his sons. The hunters almost eradicated the vamps.

John states in season 1 himself: "I thought they were extinct. I thought Elkins and -- and others had wiped them out. I was wrong."

Why would he put the stuff he knows about vamps into the journal when he thought they weren't a threat anymore. And let's be real the vamps weak spots are something you can remember and don't need to write down, unlike an exorcism or ritual.
